- 0:04Speaker 2: Washefout Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven
- 0:07Speaker 2: point one wash FM over there is Kat Harris playing
- 0:09Speaker 2: the part at Chili Omar today. Look, everybody's talking about
- 0:13Speaker 2: the weather, and when we need to know what's really
- 0:16Speaker 2: going on, we turned to seven News DC's First Alert
- 0:19Speaker 2: Weather Center and meteorologist Eileen Whalin.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Eileen, inquiring minds want to know what is really going
- 0:29Speaker 3: to happen.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We're going to get snow, it is going to be
- 0:31Speaker 1: bitterly cold, and we also have the threat for ice.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So first of all, let's just get ready for the
- 0:37Speaker 1: frigid weather tonight, guys, Cold weather alert start at eight o'clock.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We're going to have windchills sub zero by tomorrow morning.
- 0:43Speaker 1: You ready for that, Toby, No, Then we've got clouds
- 0:46Speaker 1: that dick in. We've got snow starting after about eight
- 0:49Speaker 1: pm tomorrow, But I think the heaviest snow comes overnight Saturday,
- 0:53Speaker 1: after midnight and through about ten am Sunday morning. So
- 0:56Speaker 1: when you wake up Sunday morning, we're going to have
- 0:58Speaker 1: several inches of snow. The big question is when does
- 1:01Speaker 1: that sleep and freezing rain start mixing in right now,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'd plan for eight inches to a foot of snow,
- 1:07Speaker 1: maybe even a quarter of an inch of ice on top.
- 1:09Speaker 1: That's what I'm most concerned about, because we could be
- 1:11Speaker 1: dealing with power outages and then we've got you know,
- 1:13Speaker 1: temperatures in the twenties heading into next week. So if
- 1:15Speaker 1: people lose power and then you know they don't have
- 1:18Speaker 1: heat and electric, that's not a good thing. So we
- 1:20Speaker 1: don't want to scary, but we just make sure everybody's
- 1:22Speaker 1: prepared for a winter weather event that's on the way.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And if you can just stay home and enjoy it,
- 1:27Speaker 1: you know, cozy up with the fire and the fireplace,
- 1:29Speaker 1: that's a good bet to me.
- 1:30Speaker 3: And I think that personally, being prepared and staying snuggled
- 1:34Speaker 3: and hunkered down at home is the way to go.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I could not agree more. Yeah, we want everybody to
- 1:39Speaker 1: be safe. Let the cruise go out do their thing.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Shout out to all of them, because you know they're
- 1:45Speaker 1: going to be working in some pretty hard, rough conditions
- 1:47Speaker 1: with it just being so cold and everything is just
- 1:50Speaker 1: going to be frozen. It's going to be almost like
- 1:52Speaker 1: a tundra.
- 1:52Speaker 2: So watch some football from the frozen tundra of the DMV.
- 1:57Speaker 2: We all want to know what this means for school
- 1:59Speaker 2: next week.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I guarantee you kids will not be at school on Monday,
- 2:02Speaker 1: maybe Tuesday. I mean I would plan to have the
- 2:04Speaker 1: kids home for several days next week just because of
- 2:08Speaker 1: the lingering. Since it's going to be so cold, we're
- 2:10Speaker 1: still going to be dealing with a lot of that ice,
- 2:12Speaker 1: which then makes it sometimes even harder to clean up.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So I do think that this could go on for
- 2:17Speaker 1: several days next week, so parents plan ahead when storing
- 2:20Speaker 1: got all the crafts and all the puzzles and.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Adult beverage, Jill, I thought I saw you at wegmansod.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Toby, you know I mean too well.
