- 0:02Speaker 1: Alright, coming to you live from al To Monte Springs, Florida.
- 0:05This is the Ember Show, your host's Ember and this
- 0:08is gonna be a different kind of episode. It's more
- 0:10about relationships in the relationship that I'm in, and I
- 0:15want to be completely honest. I don't need to get
- 0:18into prayer about this. This is not gonna be a
- 0:23Bible study session. It's gonna be a fifteen minute kind
- 0:26of therapy session for yo boy. Ride here Ember. And
- 0:33really my name is Mark Belcher. I'm just going to
- 0:35make that clear. And I also want to to state that.
- 0:40Speaker 2: There's artist's name, there's a podcast name.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I mean, you can call it personality, disorder, traits, whatever
- 0:48it it. It does not matter regardless. I love doing
- 0:51what I do and I'm gonna continue to be who
- 0:57God called me to be as well as I continue
- 0:59to transform. And it really is transforming the way that
- 1:05I used to be and who I'm becoming. It's a
- 1:09work in progress. And I have not really necessarily had
- 1:12a lot of healthy relationships in my thirty seven years
- 1:16here on earth, even in recovery. And I'm not gonna
- 1:20sit here and say it's been completely bad either. There's
- 1:23been some good moments, but at the end of the day,
- 1:27I need to be able to not only just get
- 1:29this off my chest, but be able to be honest
- 1:33with myself that it is time to talk about it.
- 1:37And you know, meeting somebody online it is risky and
- 1:44I've done it numerous times and a lot of the
- 1:48outcomes have not been well. I don't want this one
- 1:53to go that route. So I'm talking it out and
- 1:57I've been praying about it. And also that's the thing
- 2:01that you know makes this very special because this is
- 2:05a Bible study podcast, but I want to throw this
- 2:08in here that you know, I met this very special
- 2:11woman in recovery on an AA zoom meeting months and
- 2:15months ago, and it progressed into something very quickly, and
- 2:20I claimed her as my girlfriend, and we.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Really started to get really close.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And it didn't just happen so quickly, it happened rapidly,
- 2:36and I don't have any regrets. I'm not saying that
- 2:39it's completely over yet. I know that a couple that
- 2:43prays together stays together, but it takes two It's a
- 2:46two way street. And I feel as if I have
- 2:48definitely gone all in more than she has and I
- 2:53don't want to throw her underneath the bus as well.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I won't talk about her personal.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Issues, but but what I will discuss is that marriage
- 3:05has been talked aboute life partner has been discussed, and
- 3:14that's within five months. I'm not here saying that that
- 3:19is necessarily false, but there has been also issues with
- 3:26both of us have not ever been in a one
- 3:30hundred percent healthy relationship. But then again, what relationship is
- 3:34really one hundred percent healthy besides the one with Jesus
- 3:38Christ and following Christ and being able to get into
- 3:42this relationship and having a significant other that is curious
- 3:47about the Bible, that is curious about prayer, and I
- 3:51have prayed for her, I have prayed with her. This
- 3:54woman I am deeply in love with. I have not met,
- 3:57but we have definitely video called. So there is no
- 4:00catfishing in this scenario whatsoever.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And I want to make this clear.
- 4:06Speaker 1: There is borderline issues because of trust issues from past
- 4:13relationships on both sides, and we definitely had the physical
- 4:18attraction then the spiritual attraction, and we're also in the
- 4:23same program with fellowships of it.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And I just want to make this very clear that
- 4:31as time has progressed at first.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I wanted to meet her right away. She was not ready.
- 4:38That's completely fine. This is not something that I am
- 4:43shunning her, you know, stoning her, because there has been
- 4:49a lot of things said in the heat of the
- 4:51arguments that I want to address on this podcast for
- 4:56she will listen to this more likely later on or
- 4:59when when ever she gets around to it. I want
- 5:03to be completely honest as well.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I'm not completely angry.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I am disappointed that there has something that has transpired
- 5:16that had delayed our meeting. Again, we have had made
- 5:20dates to meet and they just keep getting pushed back
- 5:23and this and that, and regardless, I love with all
- 5:30I have. I don't have asset and forgive my language,
- 5:35but we all have one of those, so it shouldn't
- 5:37be an issue. If you have heard that and you
- 5:40feel a little offended, I'm sorry. The truth of the
- 5:45matter is I'm at a state of a crossroad where
- 5:51I need to make a decision if my loyalty is
- 5:55going to continue to thrive or is the going to die.
- 6:02Because I don't want to get too overpossessive as I have,
- 6:09I don't want to start arguments that don't need to transpire.
- 6:17I want to make this completely clear and completely honest
- 6:22episode that needs to be stated that no matter what
- 6:28the decision is made, I will continue to do God's will,
- 6:32I will continue to be in AA recovery.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I will always.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Have a spot in my heart for her as well
- 6:43as my brother and my mom. It's this is something
- 6:46that if I have to eliminate the significant other, this
- 6:53is what I need to talk about.
- 6:56Speaker 2: One. I'm not good at goodbyes too.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I have been emotionally rockin and there has been standards
- 7:05and expectations put on both sides that I believe have
- 7:09put tension on the relationship. But there has been a
- 7:12lot of great communication. There has been a lot of
- 7:16great genuine connection. There has been also a lot of
- 7:21great recovery talk.
- 7:22Speaker 2: The only thing that's missing in the.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Main ingredient is physical Dutch, physical meat. And that's why
- 7:28it's been so It's been on both sides that we
- 7:31have been pushing the issue that you know, she says
- 7:38I want you here. I say that I'm ready to
- 7:41meet you, and that has been said numerous times. And
- 7:44I have been in this situation and I don't want
- 7:47to play the comparison game.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And let's just say that this relationship.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Is a lot better than some of the other long
- 7:54distance relationships I have been in.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Thank God.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I just want to be able to also handle it properly.
- 8:00I am only two years from a twenty year drinking
- 8:04career and using as well, and it has been an
- 8:09interesting journey. I have not been able to find stability
- 8:15because everything was in a sense giving to me from
- 8:19the age of zero to thirty or I contributed financially
- 8:25as well, helping my parents, helping whoever I stayed with.
- 8:30But I've never had my own anything. And that's because
- 8:33I consistently wanted to party. I wanted to consistently use.
- 8:38I wanted to I was a party animal, and that's
- 8:42where most.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Of my money went.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And when you have alcoholism and drug addiction, there is
- 8:48very terrible budgeting in the money. And I've had to
- 8:52learn the hard way in my Wilderness season, being you know,
- 8:56in the states of minds that or survival mode, and
- 9:02instead of striving, being in this state of mind and
- 9:08still being able to have a relationship has been very
- 9:12beneficial for me. It has been very beneficial for my recovery.
- 9:17Now I can't say that's completely I can't speak for
- 9:19her completely. But the thing about it is, I've had
- 9:23a lot of thank you for the prayers. I've had
- 9:26a lot of thank you for the time. I've had
- 9:28a lot of her childlike spirit come out as well
- 9:32as mine, and we have shared a lot of things
- 9:34with each other.
- 9:35Speaker 2: We have cried together, and there's so much that has.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Been crammed in less than five months that I believe
- 9:43that it is such an emotional tangle. And regardless, we
- 9:51can also talk about how there has been not only
- 9:58just possessing and trust issues, but there has been.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Breakups.
- 10:09Speaker 1: And forgive me if you hear any other kind of
- 10:11noise in the background. I am outside as I record this,
- 10:13but I got about five minutes. I want to make
- 10:17this clear that I don't have any intentions on giving
- 10:21up on this woman. I do believe she is my soulmate,
- 10:25and I understand that what comes with soulmates is it
- 10:29is not necessarily a process of it's always going to.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Be smooth sailing. I know that this woman and.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I definitely have had our doubts and fears and everything
- 10:46thrown out there on the table. I've seen her in
- 10:48states of mind that you know she hasn't shown a
- 10:51lot of people and same with me, and there's also
- 10:54been a lot of the brain picking, right Like, we've
- 10:58been able to make each other better, We've been able
- 11:00to make each other realize our shortcomings in and.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Our special spiritual gifts.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And I'm not going to get into those because those
- 11:12are personal. And this is something that has been a
- 11:16private relationship that I want to bring public, but she
- 11:23has been very hesitant with that for for not whatever reason.
- 11:26I don't want to undermine it for her preference, and.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I am not.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Okay with the whole guy friends. I know that things
- 11:36could be different in the future if we were physically
- 11:39in person. I have certain criterias, She has certain criterias
- 11:45that have not a one hundred percent been met consistently,
- 11:49But that should not undermine the fact that there is
- 11:54love here, there is commitment, there is time already put in.
- 12:00There's been things that have been said that are concrete,
- 12:05that are God is in the middle of this relationship,
- 12:11and I believe that sometimes we play tuggo war and
- 12:14we tend to forget that God is in the center
- 12:19of this relationship and he can repair what needs to
- 12:22be repaired. So as I continue to go on this
- 12:25journey as following Christ. He's just a believer, and I
- 12:28don't say just as that that's nothing. But at the
- 12:31end of the day, I'm carrying most of the spiritual
- 12:33weight and I don't mind doing that. I just want
- 12:37to be more appreciative. I want to be able to
- 12:40have plans that actually that are solid and they happen.
- 12:44I don't want this jumping in jumping out. And I'm
- 12:47not just talking about her. There's been times where I'm like, oh,
- 12:49maybe this maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe, but there's no
- 12:53no or yes, and the patience that has been very
- 13:02hard to obtain. And I only have two more minutes.
- 13:05I want to kind of cram this all in, you know,
- 13:10with it being that I don't feel as if she
- 13:21is ready for a committed relationship. I'm not sitting here
- 13:25saying that I'm equipped to be in a serious relationship
- 13:30in the physical, but that does not eliminate the fact
- 13:33that I believe that we should still meet and be
- 13:35able to obtain something physical out of this and see
- 13:40where it goes. I just leave it in the Lord's
- 13:43hands as well. I'm nowhere near as perfect either as she,
- 13:48but to walk away from this, I think would be easier.
- 13:54So I want to be able to work on this,
- 13:56and I want to give encouragement to anybody that is
- 13:59kind of going through something similar, whether it's a long
- 14:01distance relationship or a new relationship.
- 14:04Speaker 2: It's easy nowadays.
- 14:06Speaker 1: To kind of jump ship and go back to whether
- 14:09it be friends or whether it be you know, searching
- 14:14the market and dating or whatever. Like loyalty over love.
- 14:22Sometimes you have to use that analogy. You have to
- 14:25try it because you just never know what you may
- 14:28be thrown away. You might think the grass is greener
- 14:30on the other side, you get over there and you
- 14:32get used and abused, and you just kind of walked
- 14:35away from where you should have stayed.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So I'll leave it at that.
- 14:39Speaker 1: My name is Mark, and this is the Ember Show.
- 14:41Your host Ember, and I'm just grateful that I was
- 14:44able to kind of get this off my chest. I
- 14:47do feel a little bit better, and check out some
- 14:50of my other podcasts as well. I think that you
- 14:53will obtain something very valuable from them. Thank you for
- 14:57pressing play.
