- 1:13Speaker 1: Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. It's a
- 1:16Speaker 1: story you need to hear to believe. Then grab your
- 1:18Speaker 1: popcorn because there is more. A little bit of Representative
- 1:21Speaker 1: Ocasio-Cortez today with what I think is a very, very
- 1:27Speaker 1: odd statement about your health care.
- 1:33Speaker 3: One of the things that I find so mind-boggling is
- 1:36Speaker 3: that whenever we want to expand.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Just really quick, how long do you think the list
- 1:41Speaker 1: is of things that Representative Ocasio-Cortez finds mind-boggling?
- 1:47Speaker 2: I assume it's a long list.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Healthcare in this country, Medicare in this country, education. Everyone's
- 1:56Speaker 3: first question in Washington is, we have no money. How
- 2:02Speaker 3: are we going to pay for this? As though the
- 2:05Speaker 3: richest nation in the history of the world is a
- 2:08Speaker 3: pauper right now. And we hear that constantly.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yet, every single year.
- 2:19Speaker 3: The United States Congress rubber stamps trillions and trillions and
- 2:25Speaker 3: trillions of dollars in current and expanded spending.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Without anyone asking at all.
- 2:34Speaker 3: How are we going to pay for this? And where
- 2:37Speaker 3: do we get this money from? It's just treated as
- 2:40Speaker 3: a matter of course. It's just, well, of course this
- 2:43Speaker 3: budget has to go up. No one said after we
- 2:46Speaker 3: pulled out of Afghanistan, do we need to still be
- 2:50Speaker 3: sustaining this level of funding? No one has asked any
- 2:53Speaker 3: question to that. And by the way, the Pentagon has
- 2:57Speaker 3: continued to fail every audit that they have been presented with.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And so why are we continuing.
- 3:08Speaker 2: To dump this money?
- 3:09Speaker 3: And I'm going to tell you, they are paying for
- 3:11Speaker 3: it with your health care and lack thereof.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Now, if you want to argue that they fail audits,
- 3:22Speaker 2: that's fine. Go get them. Where's the money? Always. Oh, absolutely.
- 3:27Speaker 2: It's our money. We need to know exactly where it is.
- 3:31Speaker 1: If you don't understand that national defense is health care,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I don't know what to say. If you don't understand
- 3:36Speaker 1: the strong border policies, health care, I don't know how
- 3:39Speaker 1: to look.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You in the eye and not laugh. It's an embarrassment
- 3:42Speaker 2: what you're doing. It's embarrassing.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You don't understand that these things are indeed health care.
- 3:55Speaker 2: How?
- 3:57Speaker 1: How can you not see that as clear as day?
- 4:00Speaker 2: It's embarrassing.
- 4:03Speaker 1: The less people coming across the border illegally, the less
- 4:06Speaker 1: people who would commit crimes or engage in violent acts,
- 4:09Speaker 1: which has happened, you can reduce that down to zero,
- 4:13Speaker 1: better healthcare outcomes.
- 4:14Speaker 2: All I'm doing is science, people.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Less people with communicable diseases coming into the country, less
- 4:21Speaker 1: people in the country getting those diseases. Healthcare outcomes are better.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Simple math. I... It is a ridiculous argument. You can't
- 4:34Speaker 1: fund the Pentagon the way you are because health care?
- 4:40Speaker 1: No more Islamists engaging in terrorism. Better health outcomes. I mean,
- 4:48Speaker 1: it's an undeniable. It's just right there on its face.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Kids, you're going to school right now and you're like, yeah,
- 4:54Speaker 2: that makes sense. I get that. I get that. You
- 4:57Speaker 2: can make that argument.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Right. Right.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Right. And also, I vehemently oppose government-run health care. Because
- 5:08Speaker 1: if she's arguing that the Pentagon can't pass an audit,
- 5:11Speaker 1: why would I believe that any government-run health care could?
- 5:15Speaker 1: Why would I believe that at all? Two more things
- 5:18Speaker 1: I want to get to, if you don't mind. This
- 5:21Speaker 1: story about the Charlie Kirk trial. That it is scheduled
- 5:28Speaker 1: for 2029. And Erica Kirk is like, are we all insane?
- 5:34Speaker 1: And she's pushing to get this thing moved earlier. Erica
- 5:40Speaker 1: Kirk urging a judge to reject a defense proposal that
- 5:43Speaker 1: would push the trial of her husband's killer, Charlie Kirk's killer,
- 5:48Speaker 1: to 2029. What kind of thing is this? You need
- 5:52Speaker 1: two and a half years to prepare for the trial?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Good gosh. Now, I can appreciate that someone could say,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know, the defendant is entitled to a speedy trial.
- 6:07Speaker 1: But the defendant can also stretch things out, right? There's
- 6:10Speaker 1: that argument that exists. This is just ugly. This is ugly.
- 6:16Speaker 1: She has every right to say, hey, this is crazy.
- 6:20Speaker 1: This trial has to happen. I don't know if she's
- 6:23Speaker 1: going to get her way. But she has every right
- 6:26Speaker 1: to do it. One other thing to note. Tomorrow is
- 6:32Speaker 1: two months since Matt Baer passed away. I think I've
- 6:36Speaker 1: got the calendar right. It is not lost on me.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I wasn't going to bring it up, but when people
- 6:44Speaker 1: ask questions, I'm not a guy who shies away from answers.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I've been asked why I don't call it the Matt
- 6:50Speaker 1: Baer Traffic Center. It's because I didn't name it that.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And no one asked me my opinion. Something was done.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I'm not mad at anybody for doing it, but it's
- 6:59Speaker 1: not what I would have done. And it's not where
- 7:01Speaker 1: I live and breathe. I know that I'm in the
- 7:04Speaker 1: radio business. And I know that if we're naming things
- 7:08Speaker 1: after people, someone would say, how come it's not the
- 7:10Speaker 1: big John Gillis traffic center in the history of WIBC?
- 7:14Speaker 1: What happens when there's some kind of corporate sponsorship? It
- 7:18Speaker 1: is a business after all. I don't allow my emotions
- 7:23Speaker 1: to run me Or rule me. Some people might think
- 7:26Speaker 1: that's cold, and I actually think it's the most respectful
- 7:29Speaker 1: thing I can do.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So I don't.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It's the WIBC Traffic Center, and if people want to
- 7:36Speaker 1: get angry with me, I'm not about to pay any
- 7:39Speaker 1: mind to it.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I don't like emotional reactions.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I won't lie to you that I have found myself
- 7:49Speaker 1: quite emotional.
- 7:52Speaker 2: With Matt being gone. And I think that we're performing ably, right?
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think that we're doing our job.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I will tell you that it is a different show.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And I don't know if it sounds different, but it
- 8:09Speaker 1: feels different because I still have to write down the
- 8:13Speaker 1: name of the people doing traffic because in my head,
- 8:15Speaker 1: I'm throwing to Matt every single time.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I have to stop myself still.
- 8:23Speaker 1: There have been 9 million things where I'm like, I
- 8:26Speaker 1: would go to Matt for the quip.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Just for that comment.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Because I don't do certain things doesn't mean that I
- 8:40Speaker 1: have no soul.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I don't feel like you feel. It has been rough.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And I was sorry to see that at the Marconi Awards, well,
- 8:50Speaker 1: congratulations to B1057 for winning Marconi for Best Large Market Station,
- 8:56Speaker 1: that the Supporting Sobriety podcast.
- 8:58Speaker 2: With Matt and our own Ryan Hedrick didn't win.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I was really sorry for them, if only because I
- 9:03Speaker 1: was looking forward to having the party with the wings
- 9:06Speaker 1: and whatnot that I promised to do.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Every day, we feel that guy's loss. Every day, I feel....
- 9:18Speaker 1: Every day Matt's name comes into my head. And the
- 9:22Speaker 1: show is different. And the show goes on. But it's
- 9:27Speaker 1: been two months and I just wanted to make sure
- 9:29Speaker 1: it got noted. So thanks for listening.
