  I guess I should talk a little bit about Brett Keene and what

  what his videos have meant to me now before I even log on, before

  I was even a member of this site, before I decided that I

  was going to make videos of my own.

  I used to watch Brett Keene's videos about back in those days.

  He did not show his face. He did not.

  It was just a voice. It was always just a picture and
• 1:25
  a voice, and I liked his voice immediately.

  I I would be lying if I said I had a pop, but I would be, I
• 1:33
  would be lying if I said I had a positive first impression.

  My first impression was that he was way too abrasive, way too
• 1:40
  angry, way too way too dark, and maybe a little bit.
• 1:50
  He seemed kind of cynical and hard bitten, and that really
• 1:53
  wasn't the kind of atheism I wanted to to talk about here on
• 1:56
  YouTube. But after actually being in the
• 1:59
  trenches for about, you know, a few weeks and realizing the
• 2:03
  level of stupidity I was up against here, I started to come
• 2:08
  around a lot more to his way of thinking.
• 2:10
  And if you watch my earlier videos, you can see a much more
• 2:14
  passive amazing atheist. It wasn't until what's his face
• 2:19
  made his little video about how atheism, how he hates atheists
• 2:24
  and how atheists are a bunch of douchebags and how all of our
• 2:27
  arguments are invalid and such and so on.
• 2:30
  And I did my first rage video, and that was when kind of the
• 2:37
  Amazing Atheist really came into his own.
• 2:40
  And that was when I started and that's when I started really
• 2:42
  paying more attention to Brett Keene and started watching his
• 2:45
  videos and started watching him use the Bible against people,
• 2:49
  started listening to him and learning new things about the
• 2:52
  parts of the Bible that you're not taught to read in church,
• 2:57
  which I've never really been to, maybe a few times.
• 3:02
  So I was, I would say after that he became probably my favorite
• 3:07
  atheist on YouTube and I pretty much watched, I don't watch all
• 3:12
  his videos because he does post a lot, but I usually watch at
• 3:15
  least one or two of his videos a day.

  I'm always sure to rate them. I try to comment whenever I have
• 3:24
  anything pertinent to say, but I'm not all, I'm not the kind of
• 3:27
  person who's just going to say it's good because I've got so
• 3:30
  many videos of my own. And with YouTube's comment
• 3:33
  limits, it's I try not to waste a comment unless I have anything
• 3:38
  really valuable to say. So that's the reason I don't
• 3:40
  always comment, but I, I always rate it and I always give it
• 3:44
  five stars because it's always worthy of it anyway.

  You know, I knew I kind of saw from the start that this was
• 3:55
  someone who was going to step on toes.
• 3:58
  This is someone who isn't going to sit well with everyone.

  Even initially when I wasn't crazy about him, I kind of said
• 4:07
  to myself, you know, but he's out there and he's just has his
• 4:10
  style and he's fighting the fight the way he sees it.

  And you know, I knew I wasn't going to do anything about it.

  But I know that some people can't stand anyone with a
• 4:20
  different approach. They always think that everyone
• 4:22
  has to think the same way they do Mr. Morton Blogs is a good
• 4:26
  example of that. Hard case Owns is apparently
• 4:29
  another good example, although I expected better from him, but
• 4:32
  I'm not going to get to him until the end of this video
• 4:35
  looking at Brett. I kind of, I saw that this is
• 4:39
  someone who's been beaten down quite a few times in his life,
• 4:45
  even before I heard the stories, before he started talking about
• 4:49
  his mother's suicide and all of his other problems that he's had
• 4:52
  through his life, mostly relating to religion, mostly
• 4:56
  relating to, you know, just really shitty luck in some
• 5:01
  departments, at least for a while there.
• 5:04
  It seems like he's doing all right now.
• 5:06
  He's got to beautiful family and a beautiful wife and all that
• 5:10
  and, and all that stuff that, you know, the American dream out
• 5:14
  there. And he's seems like he's living
• 5:16
  a pretty good life now. But I could tell that he was
• 5:19
  someone who'd been beaten down so many times, someone who you
• 5:25
  can really hear it in his voice. You know, you can, you can see
• 5:28
  it in his face. You can see it in his hair.
• 5:32
  And, you know, I think the reason his hair is Gray is
• 5:34
  probably somewhat related to that, if it's not just genetic.
• 5:38
  But I don't know. I think that there's a lot of
• 5:41
  people out there who are beaten down.
• 5:45
  I think most of us are beaten down.
• 5:47
  Everyone's beaten upon the world.
• 5:48
  It's the nature of the world to beat down upon us.
• 5:51
  And I think most people, once they get beaten down one too
• 5:55
  many times, they just decide, well, I'm, I'm not, I'm not
• 5:58
  going to get beaten down anymore.
• 5:59
  I'm just going to stay down here and whatever the world wants,

  I'll give it. And Brett Keene is one of those
• 6:05
  rare examples of the person who says, that's it, I'm tired of
• 6:09
  this shit. You're never knocking me down

  again. I'm going to stand firm.

  I don't give a shit. Bring what you will.

  Hurricanes, tornadoes, all that shit.

  That's the kind of shit I see in Brett Keene's eyes when he, when

  he shows them anyway, that's that's the kind of Brett Keene.

  I think of that person when I think of Brett Keene on on a

  level of just pure metaphor, I kind of see him like standing on
• 6:40
  the rocks as the tidal waves come in and he just, you know,

  the currents come and, you know, nature throws its fury at him

  and he just stands tall and defiant.

  That's the Brett Keene I think of.

  And you know, you can point out plenty of flaws with his videos.

  I still think he's too aggressive.

  Maybe that seems hypocritical coming from me.

  I'm sure sometimes he thinks I'd do the wrong things.

  I understand that. I found myself in an unfortunate

  position being a former atheist a long time ago.

  The unfortunate position I found myself in is that although I

  remained on YouTube for 20 years, many of the atheists who
• 8:57
  endorsed me and supported me are either dead or they simply don't
• 9:03
  use YouTube anymore. They lost the desire and
• 9:06
  ambition to continue. Why?
• 9:10
  Because they got tired of fighting with other non
• 9:13
  believers or they were shadow banned by YouTube or censored or
• 9:18
  had their channels ripped away from them by Google.

  YouTube after Google ended up buying YouTube.
• 9:26
  Before Google bought YouTube. There were lots and lots of
• 9:30
  atheists, but not many of them were actually making YouTube
• 9:34
  videos back then. Many of you knew atheists or
• 9:38
  people who were born, you know very early in life who exist
• 9:44
  today on YouTube. You don't know the past.
• 9:46
  You don't know what's going on when you go over to the drunken
• 9:49
  peasants and you listen to Ben's accusations and nonsense.
• 9:54
  You don't know the actual story. All's you know is from the
• 9:57
  perception of someone who wasn't there then did not exist during
• 10:01
  the time of Brett Keene being famous and a popular YouTube
• 10:06
  atheist at that. He came into existence around
• 10:10
  the time that I was starting to become a Christian which was
• 10:14
  unsettling for a lot of non believers.
• 10:16
  Atheists did not like the idea that a famous atheist changed
• 10:21
  his mind and accepted that there was a higher power and not just
• 10:26
  any higher power, but I accepted Jesus Christ.

  One of the unfortunate problems for me that I ran into is that
• 10:34
  because of a lot of these older atheists are gone and their
• 10:37
  YouTube channels are gone, you're not going to ever be able
• 10:40
  to see the thousands of videos that were made in tribute to me.

  Positive videos were atheists lifted me up and they praised me
• 10:49
  and they adored me. Yes, there was a time where all
• 10:53
  the non believers on YouTube, a majority of them actually
• 10:56
  supported me. Why?
• 10:59
  Because not only did I make good videos, but I actually took my
• 11:04
  popularity and fame and I made other people on the Internet
• 11:07
  famous. How did I do that?
• 11:10
  Well, back then, before they had algorithms and before they had
• 11:15
  this crap where they could make it to where your videos would
• 11:18
  sit in a pile of trash under millions of other videos, there
• 11:22
  wasn't that many videos back then.
• 11:24
  There wasn't that many users. There was just atheists who were
• 11:28
  quiet, had YouTube accounts, but weren't making videos.
• 11:33
  Now you're probably going to ask yourself, why is that?
• 11:35
  Why was there so many Christians?
• 11:37
  Why were there Muslims but not atheists?
• 11:40
  Because at the time there were atheists that were afraid that
• 11:43
  if they spoke out that their families would disown them.
• 11:47
  They were afraid to be persecuted.
• 11:50
  They were afraid because of where they lived that if they
• 11:52
  spoke out and even said they were an atheist that they would
• 11:55
  be killed or bullied or abused and all this.
• 11:59
  A lot of non believers were afraid to come out in social
• 12:02
  media. When I first started out I
• 12:04
  remember having so many conversations and live chats
• 12:08
  with people and folks really really tried the best they could
• 12:11
  to hide their names. Atheists were scared of putting
• 12:15
  their real name on YouTube back then.
• 12:18
  This was before trolls and harassment, before memes and
• 12:25
  people going after each other. This was before onage and
• 12:29
  pawnage videos. Non believers were terrified.
• 12:34
  Well a guy like me comes along and I didn't have any fear.
• 12:38
  I didn't care if I died. I didn't care if somebody killed
• 12:41
  me. In fact, at that point in my
• 12:43
  life, I was extremely depressed and had thought many times
• 12:48
  what's the point of even existing.
• 12:50
  And that went great along with my nihilistic version of
• 12:53
  atheism. That's the reason why The
• 12:55
  Amazing Atheist says Brett Keene was dark.
• 12:59
  When I embraced atheism, it led me down a dark road to where I
• 13:04
  felt like love didn't even exist.
• 13:06
  I felt like if there's no God, then obviously there's not going
• 13:11
  to be any real justice. There's going to be just
• 13:15
  unfairness. And when I looked around at the
• 13:17
  world, which meant a lot to me, I actually cared very much.
• 13:23
  I felt like from my perspective that I lived in a world with
• 13:26
  that was just simply suffering and pain and very few moments of
• 13:31
  joy. The reason why I had this
• 13:33
  perspective is because 1. I had some health issues that
• 13:37
  were causing me a lot of major issues and unfortunately for me
• 13:41
  those health issues got worse over time.
• 13:45
  I had a daughter that was born into the world with
• 13:47
  hydrocephalus from meningitis. You guys can look it up if you
• 13:53
  want to. And I was taking care of a child
• 13:56
  that had needs, needed help, while at the same time, whenever
• 14:02
  she would sleep, whenever she was resting, I'd find a little
• 14:06
  bit of time to be able to sit down and make an atheist video
• 14:10
  and talk about why is it that if there is a God that there has to
• 14:15
  be suffering of children in the world?
• 14:18
  These are the kind of things I spoke about.
• 14:22
  And it was very effective on Christians.
• 14:25
  It moved Christians to hear about my life and what was going
• 14:28
  on back then. I was one of the few people who
• 14:32
  were really, how do I put this, who everyone believed was
• 14:37
  authentic and sincere. I was talking about real
• 14:41
  problems. I was talking about who I was as
• 14:44
  a person and who it was that influenced me, inspired me, all
• 14:50
  these things. Well one of the other things
• 14:53
  though I found myself as I became more depressed as an
• 14:57
  atheist in doing YouTube videos, I felt lonely because I was one
• 15:03
  of the few people who was actually speaking out because
• 15:10
  there were more Christians than there were actually atheist
• 15:12
  interacting. This put me in a spot where if I
• 15:16
  wanted people to talk to, I would have to go to Christians
• 15:20
  because, well, there wasn't a whole lot of non believers to
• 15:24
  talk to. And even when I did have an
• 15:26
  opportunity to talk to other non believers, a lot of atheists
• 15:29
  back in my day were absolutely depressed with their own life.
• 15:33
  That was one of the reasons why they identified with me, one of
• 15:36
  the reasons why they related with me.
• 15:40
  Let me take this off the screen. I found myself in a position
• 15:46
  where a lot of atheists would call me on the phone and I would
• 15:49
  talk to them, but I didn't share much of my life with them.
• 15:53
  Whenever we were talking personally, I mostly sat back
• 15:57
  like a therapist, listening to their problems and their issues
• 16:01
  and how lonely they were. I had spoken to a lot of
• 16:08
  atheists who had lost everything.
• 16:11
  They lost their family due to the fact that they rejected
• 16:15
  church, rejected God, and then their entire neighborhoods and
• 16:19
  their entire family would disown them.
• 16:22
  Or according to them, their claim was their assertion was
• 16:27
  that because they didn't believe in God, they no longer had
• 16:31
  family and friends. And I started doing this weird
• 16:34
  thing where I would tell atheists that I'm going to adopt
• 16:37
  them, that we are family. I made videos where I told
• 16:43
  atheists that they were in my family, that they were, that I
• 16:47
  was there for them and whatever I could do for them.
• 16:50
  I would help on countless occasions because I had become
• 16:54
  famous and I was bringing in a lot of money back then.
• 16:59
  There would be atheist females who would get ahold of me and
• 17:02
  tell me I my husband died or I'm single and I've got a baby and
• 17:08
  they'd show their children off on webcam to me.
• 17:12
  Obviously it's proof and everything like that.
• 17:14
  And when you become close with people, they'll show you the
• 17:18
  things that they're happy about in life.
• 17:21
  And then I remember this one woman, she said I need diapers
• 17:24
  and baby food and all that. And I'm having a really hard
• 17:27
  time. I'm waiting to get on assistance
• 17:30
  and all these different things. And so I sent her a whole bunch
• 17:34
  of money. I talked to my wife about it and
• 17:37
  everything and I said, look, this young lady's having some
• 17:40
  issues and she can't go to a church because she's an atheist.
• 17:45
  She can't go to some kind of religious group and everything
• 17:48
  because she's a non believer. And I did this off and on.
• 17:55
  I didn't just make videos where I said kind words and decent
• 18:00
  things. I also helped people
• 18:02
  financially. I helped pay people's bills.
• 18:07
  The first what, 10 times the Amazing Atheist himself asked
• 18:11
  for money and asked for people's support to help him pay his
• 18:14
  electric bills and his bullshit. I sent to him a lot of money.
• 18:22
  He doesn't talk about that. He doesn't ever point that out.
• 18:26
  And unfortunately, a lot of the atheists I've helped in the
• 18:29
  past, because of the crash course in hell with the the
• 18:35
  atheist community, a lot of atheists don't even bother to
• 18:39
  admit this. There are some atheists, believe
• 18:42
  it or not, that are still alive today, that existed back then,
• 18:46
  who witnessed all this and observed that there's a atheist
• 18:50
  by the name of Tommy from the Bronx who has had some serious
• 18:53
  health issues. And anytime he needed somebody
• 18:57
  to talk to, I was there. When he started out, he wasn't
• 19:01
  able to pick up views on YouTube.
• 19:03
  Wasn't his fault. He was a very talented, popular
• 19:06
  person. But he decided to have the
• 19:09
  courage to finally start making videos.
• 19:12
  And I would plug his channel. I plugged the Amazing Atheist.
• 19:15
  I'd say, guys, you need to go over and subscribe.
• 19:18
  We're family. We need to help out our brothers
• 19:21
  and atheism and our sisters. I don't know, maybe I had this
• 19:26
  attitude because I used to be a Christian whenever I was a young
• 19:30
  man, and Christianity emboldened this idea of we're the body of
• 19:34
  Christ, we're all connected. So I felt like I didn't want to
• 19:45
  lose that part. I always felt like that that was
• 19:48
  an important part that I'd never wanted to leave behind.
• 19:51
  I left behind the concept of God, but there was some things
• 19:55
  about Christianity that I liked. I liked that people had a place
• 19:59
  to go to where they could talk to each other and help each
• 20:02
  other and do that. And at the time, atheism didn't
• 20:05
  have that. There were, there was no
• 20:07
  organizations. Atheists didn't have churches
• 20:10
  back then. They do now.
• 20:12
  They didn't have organizations. There wasn't little debate
• 20:15
  circles where atheists could come together and eat dinner
• 20:19
  together and talk and do all that.
• 20:21
  It was. It sucked.
• 20:30
  The only thing that atheists had at that point was fucking
• 20:34
  YouTube. That was it, that was it.
• 20:39
  There was nothing more. It was how I was able to connect
• 20:43
  with non believers and how non believers were able to connect
• 20:45
  with me in my real life. I live out in the woods 17 miles
• 20:49
  South of Saint Louis and there's fucking no atheists around here.
• 20:54
  An atheist. You're not like they are in
• 20:56
  social media or didn't used to be where they didn't just admit
• 21:00
  what they viewed. Some atheists actually would lie
• 21:03
  to people if you were to ask them directly.
• 21:05
  Do you believe in God? Yeah, yes I do.
• 21:08
  Sure I do. Because they didn't want to get
• 21:10
  into debates and arguments. People were nervous, they didn't
• 21:15
  like the way they were looked at or how they were treated or how
• 21:19
  people would disconnect with them and not want to be their
• 21:21
  friend for being a non believer because that was a problem.
• 21:30
  I felt it in me that because I was getting so much popularity
• 21:35
  that why not fill in the gap? Why not?
• 21:38
  Why not bring atheists together? Why not connect them?
• 21:43
  Unfortunately, there was a lot of things I did not know back
• 21:46
  then. Like for instance, there were
• 21:49
  atheists who didn't have a chip on their shoulder.
• 21:52
  There were atheists who weren't out to get religion.
• 21:56
  All they simply did was say I don't entertain the concept of
• 22:00
  God because I don't see enough evidence.
• 22:02
  They didn't want to fight with Christians.
• 22:04
  They didn't want to argue with Christians.
• 22:06
  These were people that just wanted to make their YouTube
• 22:09
  videos and and use them web page for reaching out and connecting
• 22:15
  with people. They didn't want the Christian
• 22:18
  versus atheist bullshit. So what ends up happening is
• 22:29
  about a year after I start doing my thing and getting popular, I
• 22:33
  run into this guy, the Amazing Atheist.
• 22:36
  You remember it. And the reason why I found him
• 22:39
  is because I was always intentionally initiating looking
• 22:43
  for other non believers on the Internet.
• 22:45
  I was looking for more family, I was looking for more atheists to
• 22:49
  take under my wing. I knew that with my health
• 22:54
  issues and my problems that eventually I would be gone.
• 23:00
  And I wanted to, I don't know, leave a legacy or something,
• 23:05
  leave a kind of a fingerprint on the Internet, a digital
• 23:10
  fingerprint. And I wanted to make sure that
• 23:15
  non believers had the tools to be able to deal with some of the
• 23:20
  problems in society. And I'm not just talking about
• 23:23
  with religion, but I'm talking about dealing with depression
• 23:27
  and dealing with loss. For an atheist to lose someone
• 23:31
  and then be convinced that you're never going to see them
• 23:34
  again, that when you lose someone, you lose them for good,
• 23:38
  that there's no getting them back, that can be devastating.
• 23:42
  That can cause a lot of psyche problems for a non believer.
• 23:46
  If your mother, your father, or a good friend or somebody you
• 23:50
  were connected with on the Internet they used to talk to
• 23:53
  and spend time with and then wake up and find out they're
• 23:56
  dead, that they're gone. Lot of atheists weren't able to
• 24:01
  endure that kind of shit. I had good intentions.
• 24:12
  I had the desire to connect people, not just for them, but
• 24:16
  for myself. I needed that kind of social
• 24:20
  network. I needed to connect with people.
• 24:23
  That's, that's what it was all about.
• 24:27
  I even talked about this many times on my radio station.
• 24:30
  You can check me out on Spotify. But I have what is called mild
• 24:33
  agoraphobia. There are certain type of places
• 24:37
  I can't go to in the world that I would like to, that I'd love
• 24:41
  to. And I've struggled with this
• 24:43
  condition, this disorder, whatever the hell you want to
• 24:46
  call it, where I can't go out into open places.
• 24:49
  I can't go out on certain highways, I have to always be
• 24:53
  near things that are structured. Like I can go to a open park as
• 24:57
  long as there's trees and bolted down fences in order to keep my
• 25:02
  equilibrium. This is a well known fact about
• 25:05
  people that have agoraphobia. We have certain quarks that help
• 25:09
  us to be able to get from one place to the next.
• 25:15
  Unfortunately, as I've grown older, in a lot of ways it got
• 25:18
  worse and I've tried to deal with those kind of fears, but
• 25:23
  because of agoraphobia, this also limited me on where I could
• 25:28
  go, who I could go hang out with and all this.
• 25:32
  And back then, it was a lonely, lonely experience, and it really
• 25:36
  brought me a lot of happiness. I didn't give a shit about
• 25:40
  pushing the movement in order to, like, destroy the concept of
• 25:44
  God. I wasn't trying to destroy
• 25:46
  religion. In fact, whenever I ran into
• 25:49
  good Christians or people who were nice, who just so happened
• 25:52
  to believe in God, I was quick to accept them as my friend.
• 25:58
  There's a lot of Christians today that state even when Brett
• 26:02
  Keene was an atheist, he was a kind, respectful, compassionate
• 26:06
  person. I, like everybody, had my
• 26:09
  fucking moments. So there were moments where
• 26:11
  religious people pissed me off and then I'd make a really mean
• 26:15
  ass video to them. But I didn't usually just wake
• 26:18
  up one day and decide to make a asshole video.
• 26:21
  Somebody had to fucking push me or do something ignorant.
• 26:26
  You know, make one of those videos where they tell me I'm
• 26:28
  going to burn in hell kind of shit.
• 26:42
  So I went along and I promoted people like Tommy from the
• 26:45
  Bronx, I promoted The Amazing Atheist, and I helped The
• 26:50
  Amazing Atheist get his first couple 1000 subscribers.
• 26:53
  It was easy to do. All I had to do is make videos
• 26:56
  basically telling people that Amazing Atheist is going to be
• 27:00
  the next big thing. I really believed that he was
• 27:03
  going to be somebody, that he was going to be something.
• 27:08
  Now I know that's weird coming from me, but when you watch the
• 27:11
  video of him where he's talking about me, that's the way he used
• 27:14
  to be. That was the amazing atheist I
• 27:17
  knew a kind, compassionate person, a kid who was nervous
• 27:23
  and had anxiety in front of the camera.
• 27:25
  You can see him shaking and bobbing back and forth.
• 27:28
  He was nervous. He didn't always have that kind
• 27:32
  of confidence in himself. And I would look at him and I
• 27:36
  would see his flaws and vulnerabilities and I actually
• 27:40
  felt like this young man is so brave.

  Look at him. He's got a good voice, he's
• 27:47
  strong, he's got all this going on.
• 27:51
  Unfortunately, he was friends with people like Hard Case owns
