Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: And the cracking power play Lord.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is the postgame Show, brought to you by Toyota
- 0:06Speaker 2: of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at your
- 0:09Speaker 2: Kraken Hockey. It's the post game. I'm the Global Credit
- 0:13Speaker 2: Union Kraken Audio Network.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Anyone who says goaltenders are weird have never met Joey Dcord.
- 0:20Speaker 3: He is Tonight's first star. Sorry, mama kay, We'll get
- 0:23Speaker 3: to those in a second. Tonight's first star comes out,
- 0:27Speaker 3: fires up the crowd, gets the crowd going, I love
- 0:30Speaker 3: that man. He is oh an absolute national treasure that
- 0:35Speaker 3: needs to be protected at all costs. He's al Kiniski.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I've ever fits you. Crack it a three to one
- 0:41Speaker 3: win in their home opener over the Anaheim Ducks and
- 0:45Speaker 3: the Ley lamberde Era. Getting off to a wonderful, fantastic,
- 0:49Speaker 3: perfect start here in Seattle, cracking one one after period
- 0:55Speaker 3: number one, and Anaheim had the ice tilted in their favor.
- 0:59Speaker 3: But the final four forty minutes Seattle really found their
- 1:02Speaker 3: stride and was able to go on to victory.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Yeah, how about this twenty seven blocked shots by Seattle.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Yeah, Anaheim had seven.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah, right now, Anaheim was shooting the puck a lot
- 1:11Speaker 4: and that those are the shots that got blocked.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Thirty six of them got through.
- 1:15Speaker 4: So Anaheim played played a very offensive game, but Seattle
- 1:19Speaker 4: playing that lane Lambert structure blocked a lot of those
- 1:22Speaker 4: shots from getting through to Joey Decord, and a lot
- 1:24Speaker 4: of the ones that got through he could see, so
- 1:26Speaker 4: they were easier stops for him. Again, I think this
- 1:29Speaker 4: was a very lane Lambert style game that we're gonna
- 1:32Speaker 4: see eighty one more times this season.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And I don't want to say the Kraken were unprepared
- 1:37Speaker 3: or they got caught off guard by the Anaheim DUTs,
- 1:40Speaker 3: but you could see the youth and the speed and
- 1:43Speaker 3: the skill that Anaheim possesses. You saw that on display
- 1:47Speaker 3: early on, but it was in that second period.
- 1:50Speaker 1: When you started to see the DUTs pushed more to
- 1:52Speaker 1: the outside.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Not a whole lot was getting into the house, into
- 1:56Speaker 3: that tight area in by Joey Decord.
- 1:59Speaker 1: You said, I saw the crack In a bit more physical.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You saw the crackt going down, blocking shots, getting things,
- 2:05Speaker 3: you know, cleaned up in that way. So it took
- 2:09Speaker 3: twenty minutes, but I'm with you, this is a pretty
- 2:11Speaker 3: good snapshot of what we can expect out of this lane, Lambertine.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Well, and also what we talked about as well, which
- 2:18Speaker 4: was this isn't gonna be a team that plays from
- 2:20Speaker 4: the red line into their own zone. When they get
- 2:22Speaker 4: their chances, they're gonna jump on them. And the two
- 2:25Speaker 4: that stand out to me, or the Mason Marchman goal,
- 2:27Speaker 4: where you know, Brandon Montour just puts on a clinic
- 2:30Speaker 4: going down the ice, you know, battling for a puck.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Mason Marshman goes harder than net taking advantage of that opportunity,
- 2:36Speaker 4: but it starts out as a defensive situation. And same
- 2:39Speaker 4: thing on the McCann goal as well. It was a
- 2:41Speaker 4: turnover in the neutral zone, good dumping by Everley. They
- 2:44Speaker 4: took advantage of that situation. So I think that rather
- 2:48Speaker 4: than playing the speed game, where you know, we saw
- 2:50Speaker 4: a lot of that last year, it's gonna be more
- 2:52Speaker 4: of an opportunistic game where defense first, defense all over
- 2:56Speaker 4: the ice, but when that opportunity arises, you jump on it.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Well, and then three points from.
- 3:00Speaker 3: The Blue Lions tonight Vince Done his first goal of
- 3:03Speaker 3: the season, Adam Larson, Brandon Montour, each adding assists, Mason
- 3:06Speaker 3: marshmant one of the newest members of the Seattle Crack
- 3:09Speaker 3: and also getting in on the scoring as well, now
- 3:10Speaker 3: one of eleven Cracking players all time to score their
- 3:14Speaker 3: first Cracking goal in their first Cracking game.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I really liked the game that Marchman played.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought so too.
- 3:20Speaker 4: And again, you know, recognizing that situation went harder than
- 3:22Speaker 4: netting when you saw the replay of it, and you
- 3:24Speaker 4: saw Brandon Montour look over his shoulder before he got
- 3:27Speaker 4: to the puck to recognize that marchmont was there in
- 3:30Speaker 4: the general area where he had to put the puck,
- 3:32Speaker 4: and by the time he got to the puck he
- 3:33Speaker 4: knew the angle he had to do.
- 3:35Speaker 5: So it was a great feed by by Montour.
- 3:37Speaker 4: But again, if Marchman doesn't read that situation, there's no
- 3:40Speaker 4: one there for Montour to pass to.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Last, but certainly not least, Joey Decord with stood a
- 3:45Speaker 3: barrage seventeen shots in the first period, twelve shots in
- 3:50Speaker 3: the second, pretty light third period with only seven But
- 3:54Speaker 3: Joey Decord, as had been the case a lot last season,
- 3:58Speaker 3: he was the best player for Seattle, and he rewarded
- 4:01Speaker 3: his team, kept his team in the fight, and ultimately
- 4:03Speaker 3: two points in the standings.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Well, let's just it too.
- 4:05Speaker 4: You know, he gives up maybe two or three goals
- 4:08Speaker 4: there over the course of the first two periods and
- 4:10Speaker 4: the Crack can go into that third period down by
- 4:12Speaker 4: a goal.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Maybe it's a very different situation.
- 4:14Speaker 4: So you know, he allowed the one, but he kept
- 4:17Speaker 4: everything out and I think that gave Seattle a chance
- 4:19Speaker 4: to win this game by a tight margin.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Well, head out one more time, come back with Ryan
- 4:23Speaker 3: Winterton after this a three to one Crack and win.

- 6:43Speaker 3: Pledgerrina alongside Al Kaniski. Everett fits you back here with
- 6:47Speaker 3: you three one Seattle. They pick up the victory over
- 6:50Speaker 3: the Anaheim Ducks. Straight to the locker room we go.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Ryan Winterton joining us on the line. Ryan, First of all,
- 6:56Speaker 3: not your first NHL game, but the first time that
- 6:59Speaker 3: you've made an NHL team out of camp. A massive
- 7:03Speaker 3: milestone to you. Congratulations, How did this one feel?
- 7:06Speaker 1: Tonight for you?
- 7:07Speaker 5: Yeah, fell good.
- 7:09Speaker 11: You know, first period kind of trying to get our
- 7:10Speaker 11: legs under us. You know, it wasn't our best, but uh,
- 7:13Speaker 11: you know I thought, like Lane said, you know, we
- 7:15Speaker 11: got better as a game went on, and you know
- 7:17Speaker 11: ended it in.
- 7:18Speaker 5: The third with prior best period.
- 7:19Speaker 11: So you know, start off a little slow, but I
- 7:21Speaker 11: got the got the pinners going and were good.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Was there anything that was said in between the first
- 7:26Speaker 3: and the second period that you know you needed to change?
- 7:29Speaker 1: What was that message in the locker room?
- 7:31Speaker 11: You know, I think everyone just knew it wasn't our
- 7:32Speaker 11: best and we needed to play better. Joe kind of
- 7:35Speaker 11: held is in No. One in the first especially, and
- 7:37Speaker 11: you know I kind of all knew, you know, it
- 7:40Speaker 11: wasn't our best period. We had to pick it up
- 7:41Speaker 11: a little bit.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Ryan, five hits in the night. Was that a part
- 7:44Speaker 5: of your game tonight?
- 7:45Speaker 4: Was that a part of your your thought press was
- 7:47Speaker 4: going into that playing on the line?
- 7:49Speaker 5: You're one how that unfold?
- 7:51Speaker 11: Yeah, I think it's kind of part of my game
- 7:53Speaker 11: as well, just you know, trying to do whatever I
- 7:55Speaker 11: can for this team to win. And you know, I
- 7:57Speaker 11: know you don't like getting hit too much, so take
- 8:00Speaker 11: a bit out of you. So, you know, just trying
- 8:01Speaker 11: to get on the body and you know that that
- 8:04Speaker 11: to my game.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Ryan.
- 8:06Speaker 3: You know this season, you know, a big year for you,
- 8:08Speaker 3: coming in first full time year in the NHL, brand
- 8:11Speaker 3: new coaching staff.
- 8:13Speaker 1: What are your goals?
- 8:14Speaker 3: What are you focusing on most to make the most
- 8:17Speaker 3: of this opportunity and stick and stay up here in
- 8:19Speaker 3: the NHL.
- 8:20Speaker 11: Yeah, just develop, develop as a player as a person,
- 8:23Speaker 11: you know, working with j R. Jess all the coaching staff,
- 8:26Speaker 11: just to make sure you know, I'm sound offensively and
- 8:28Speaker 11: then you know Offens obviously comes from there. So just
- 8:31Speaker 11: girl as a person and an individual and especially on
- 8:33Speaker 11: the ice as well. And you know that's my big
- 8:36Speaker 11: takeaway from this year.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Well, hey man, congrats on a big win tonight three
- 8:39Speaker 3: to one over Anaheim.
- 8:40Speaker 1: We'll talk to you down the road.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Thank you, Thanks guys.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Cracking forward Ryan Winterton joining us following today's big victory
- 8:46Speaker 3: over the Seattle Crack for this cracking over the Anaheim Ducks.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Out over to.
- 8:50Speaker 5: You absolutely well. Key takeaways to the night.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I'll go back to my keys for the game top
- 8:54Speaker 4: lines contributing You had a goal from from mckinn. You
- 8:57Speaker 4: had to assist from every one from Veneer's well and
- 9:00Speaker 4: one from Schwartz. So there's your guys from your top
- 9:02Speaker 4: two lines contributing tonight. I said winning net manage the
- 9:05Speaker 4: special teams. Joey d was great in net tonight and
- 9:08Speaker 4: as far as managing special teams, only gave Anaheim one
- 9:11Speaker 4: power play opportunity. They were for one on that. The
- 9:15Speaker 4: defensive structure was controlling the blue lines. That was also
- 9:18Speaker 4: a key to night. I thought they did a good
- 9:19Speaker 4: job limiting ozone entries by Anaheim. The only opportunity for
- 9:25Speaker 4: improvement I put down was the power play Seattle going
- 9:27Speaker 4: zero for two on the two There three stars of
- 9:30Speaker 4: the night brought to you by Mam McKay. Third Star
- 9:32Speaker 4: of the night is Jared McCann. He had a goal
- 9:34Speaker 4: in the third period there. He also had a chance
- 9:36Speaker 4: on the power play that probably should have been a
- 9:38Speaker 4: goal had he been able to move his stick a
- 9:39Speaker 4: little bit a little bit more, but he had the
- 9:41Speaker 4: third third star. Second star goes to Mason Marchman. He
- 9:44Speaker 4: had a goal. He was plus one on the night.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Big goal that was as well. And your first star,
- 9:49Speaker 4: as you previewed earlier, goes to Joey to cord stopping
- 9:52Speaker 4: thirty five of thirty six with a nine to seven
- 9:54Speaker 4: to two save percentage.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Three to one win for Seattle.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Let's pause real quick for ray station identification across the
- 9:59Speaker 3: Global Credit Union crack An Audio Network.
- 10:02Speaker 2: You're listening to Selekrekkin Hockey on the Global Credit Union

- 10:40Speaker 3: Mike Benton to take you home the rest of the way.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Three to one win, Cracking over the Ducks, mikey b
- 10:45Speaker 3: take it away broadcasts where we call that a teaser.
- 10:49Speaker 12: Well for the Krack and no teas this evening it
- 10:51Speaker 12: was a game of survival early on, but they found
- 10:53Speaker 12: a way to put their collective foot down and for
- 10:55Speaker 12: the first time in franchise history, everyone goes home happy
- 10:59Speaker 12: with two points on the board. In game number one,
- 11:02Speaker 12: the Crack and knock off the Anaheim Ducks three to one,
- 11:05Speaker 12: and we have a lot more to cover coming up,
- 11:08Speaker 12: which includes our highlights, our scores downstairs. Also for more
- 11:12Speaker 12: reaction al also, as Everett said, joins me in a bit,

- 15:35Speaker 12: Decord brought the house down tonight with a thirty five
- 15:39Speaker 12: save effort.
- 15:40Speaker 16: How we got there? Time now for the.
- 15:42Speaker 12: Highlights in this Seattle Cracking drive to the Nets scoring
- 15:44Speaker 12: recap is brought to you by the all new Chevy
- 15:46Speaker 12: Tracks now bigger and Boulder Tracks.
- 15:49Speaker 16: Is the perfect desist for all of life's adventures.
- 15:53Speaker 12: How long would it take for the Kraken to finally
- 15:56Speaker 12: break through and Lane Lambert's first game behind their bench, Schwartz.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Takes the feed brings it over the right wing side
- 16:03Speaker 3: at the near circle, sends it up top.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Adam Larsen now for dun shot.
- 16:07Speaker 22: Stoll Fitts Done kicks off season five with his first
- 16:19Speaker 22: goal of the.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Season, seventeen thirty nine to play in the first one.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Nothing Seattle, Jamon Schwartz put a great son entry in
- 16:27Speaker 4: the offensive end.
- 16:28Speaker 5: He comes across the blue line to buy himself some time.
- 16:30Speaker 4: He finds lars Enough in the high slot area just
- 16:33Speaker 4: into the blue line. Larson waits, He waits for an
- 16:36Speaker 4: Anaheim player to attack him. That leaves fits Done over
- 16:39Speaker 4: to the side, beats it off to the side.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Donegle's top shop, one.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Up and cracket.
- 16:44Speaker 12: We mentioned guts, gyle and goaltending ingredients here to a
- 16:47Speaker 12: win tonight. That was the guile part of that where
- 16:49Speaker 12: the Kraken waited out their spot and found Ben's done
- 16:52Speaker 12: open left circle.
- 16:53Speaker 16: He's got a thing here for these moments.
- 16:55Speaker 12: Blasting home is first goal of the season to open
- 16:58Speaker 12: the Kraken scoring for the year. Take notes first season
- 17:02Speaker 12: inaugural home game franchise history, Vince Dunn scored the first
- 17:06Speaker 12: cracking goal in this building. Last year, season opener, Vince
- 17:10Speaker 12: Dunn scored the first Craken goal. Also in this building,
- 17:14Speaker 12: he did it once again to twenty one, and of
- 17:16Speaker 12: the first Vince dun made it one to nothing cracking
- 17:19Speaker 12: from Adam Larson and Jaden Schwartz, but Anaheim would respond
- 17:22Speaker 12: Beckett Seneca picking up his first career NHL goal just
- 17:26Speaker 12: four to eleven into the game, right place, right time,
- 17:29Speaker 12: glove sideposts of Joey Decord. Mason McTavish had the only
- 17:33Speaker 12: assistant on the play, and the Kraken and Ducks all
- 17:36Speaker 12: deadlocked at one after one period. Despite the kracking going
- 17:40Speaker 12: through a frame where they had to play a game
- 17:41Speaker 12: of survival out shot seventeen to five. I still being
- 17:46Speaker 12: tilted toward Joey Decord in period two until it would
- 17:50Speaker 12: rise to the occasion right here.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Left half wall.
- 17:53Speaker 3: He'll carry it all the way up top hope checked
- 17:55Speaker 3: away by montor Brandon montor find the steph Ork Terry.
- 17:58Speaker 1: They'll take it off to the.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Corner, considering pass Bason Marshman stop.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Welcome to Seattle.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Mason Marshman his first goal in cracking Colors, and Seattle
- 18:16Speaker 3: regames the.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Lead early in the second.
- 18:18Speaker 9: It's a two one.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Cracking edge well Brandon Montour up that right side battles
- 18:23Speaker 4: for a puck, pokes it off the duck stick, it.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Says, no preseadent games, season games.
- 18:28Speaker 4: No problem is he burns down that right side, finds
- 18:31Speaker 4: marksmen in front.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Marshman taps it all to to.
- 18:34Speaker 16: One, cracking Johnny on the spot.
- 18:36Speaker 12: As they say in this business, that's Mason marksmen between
- 18:39Speaker 12: the circles. But that goal doesn't happen without the speed
- 18:42Speaker 12: of Brandon Montour and the will to win that battle
- 18:44Speaker 12: taking over. Marsman's first from Brandon Montour three fifty into
- 18:48Speaker 12: the second period made it two to one, cracking, despite
- 18:51Speaker 12: before that goal to cracking being ouncehot twenty to five.
- 18:55Speaker 12: Hockey can be a funny game, sometimes a cracking though,
- 18:58Speaker 12: leading to to one end of two per periods of
- 19:00Speaker 12: play and into the third we go, what do they
- 19:03Speaker 12: get when they go to the net?
- 19:06Speaker 5: Seattle? Once again? What's on the pressure in front?
- 19:10Speaker 18: Yes, can.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Sharon mckab the insurance coald for Seattle.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It's a three to one cracket lead.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Fifteen thirty five left in the third.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Well, fantastic soon entry by Seattle's They got that puck
- 19:32Speaker 4: cross ice.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Everybody dumps it into the far corner, but heres gets
- 19:35Speaker 5: to it.
- 19:36Speaker 4: First, just a chuck of the puck out to the
- 19:38Speaker 4: front of the net, but can gets that chuck close
- 19:41Speaker 4: tough shelf plucker side three to one cracket.
- 19:45Speaker 12: If you're driving home in your car right now, raise
- 19:47Speaker 12: your hand if you would take a big insurance kull
- 19:50Speaker 12: from your top line, We see you out there. Jared
- 19:53Speaker 12: mccam made it happen for a twenty five minute of
- 19:55Speaker 12: the third period from Maddy Veneers on the board in
- 19:59Speaker 12: game number one one. Jordan Everley the captain also with
- 20:02Speaker 12: the assist on the play the crack and then with
- 20:05Speaker 12: the three to one lead several shots for the knockout blow.
- 20:08Speaker 12: Luke gash do stall, big breakaway save on Jordan Everley,
- 20:11Speaker 12: Ryan Winterton, great chances well in front of the net
- 20:14Speaker 12: the ducks and pulling Dostall very early before the finish line,
- 20:18Speaker 12: yet couldn't crack through after that and Joey to courd
- 20:21Speaker 12: in Company Holding Firm for the three to one cracking victory,
- 20:24Speaker 12: giving to Cord the win in net for the kracking
- 20:27Speaker 12: season debut for him between the pipes. Your final totals
- 20:31Speaker 12: shans on gold in favor of Anaheim thirty six thirty one.
- 20:34Speaker 12: But it was much more tilted early in period once
- 20:37Speaker 12: the Cracking incrementally gaining ground back after period two began
- 20:42Speaker 12: power plays Cracking oh for two, Anaheim oh for one.
- 20:47Speaker 12: That matter number was huge, staying out of the box
- 20:50Speaker 12: as much as they could Jamie alexiak in the second period.
- 20:53Speaker 12: The interference penalty the only infraction they took for the
- 20:57Speaker 12: entire night. But this game belonged to Joey decourt out
- 21:00Speaker 12: doing Lukash Dostall in net thirty five saves here and
- 21:03Speaker 12: earn the Joey chans all across this sold out barn
- 21:06Speaker 12: this evening, Joey to court thirty five saves, got the
- 21:09Speaker 12: victory between the pipes dost All twenty eight saves on
- 21:13Speaker 12: thirty one shots. He took the loss in net for
- 21:16Speaker 12: the Ducks. Time Now for the course light chill us
- 21:19Speaker 12: moments of the game. Cracking fans reminder, you can win
- 21:22Speaker 12: your chance to sit in the course light silver seats.
- 21:25Speaker 12: Go to course light dot com forward slash Seattle Kraken
- 21:28Speaker 12: to enter. Must be twenty one years of age. No
- 21:31Speaker 12: purchase necessary, Course light juice chill celebrate responsibly the krack
- 21:36Speaker 12: and in period one feeling pretty good holding a one
- 21:39Speaker 12: nothing lead, but then it responds here for Anaheim. Now
- 21:48Speaker 12: we'd be Beckett Seneca getting his first career NHL goal
- 21:51Speaker 12: again at four to eleven into period one, as he
- 21:54Speaker 12: went right toward the post and was able to deposit
- 21:57Speaker 12: the puck into open spaces. But for Beckett Seneca, who
- 22:00Speaker 12: was picked very high by the Ducks, a promising time
- 22:03Speaker 12: for him, but yet maybe for the Crack at the
- 22:04Speaker 12: beginning of a wake up call here in this game
- 22:06Speaker 12: when they were being out shot seventeen to five. But
- 22:09Speaker 12: that would be the only goal to pierce Joey to
- 22:11Speaker 12: Cord and Crew this evening. But Beckett Seneca picking up
- 22:14Speaker 12: his first career NHL goal into period two, the Krack
- 22:18Speaker 12: and penalty kill going for a spin and trying to
- 22:21Speaker 12: get through the Anaheim man advantage. What happens with Jamie
- 22:25Speaker 12: Alexiak busting out of the box.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Back into the defensive end, up working toward the goal.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Colord short shot that one knocked away, Alexiak out of
- 22:34Speaker 3: the box, picks up the buck. Jamie Alexiak slides Lyndrin
- 22:38Speaker 3: suits trying.
- 22:39Speaker 5: To go five hole.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Loukas still stall and he'll close the.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Wicketsasted time to hold on, so Ryan lynd Gren fresh
- 22:49Speaker 4: shot that penalty kill.
- 22:51Speaker 12: He also jumped into the mix, usually known as a
- 22:53Speaker 12: stay at home defenseman to take care of matters back
- 22:56Speaker 12: in his own den, but no problem with them jumping
- 22:59Speaker 12: into the play and converted on a breakaway which again
- 23:02Speaker 12: gave signs of krack and were beginning to tilt matters
- 23:04Speaker 12: back in their favor with momentum and puck possession and
- 23:08Speaker 12: that a big save by dost All, but the Krakens
- 23:10Speaker 12: starting to really make their move at that point, carrying
- 23:13Speaker 12: a two to one lead into the third where they
- 23:15Speaker 12: would finish off the Ducks again three to one.
- 23:18Speaker 16: Your final score that brings us here to the big.
- 23:20Speaker 12: Win brought to you by the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling.
- 23:25Speaker 12: Penguins and Islanders going at it this evening at PPG
- 23:29Speaker 12: Payinn's Arena and hoo rises to the occasion in Penguin's.
- 23:33Speaker 20: Colors, Caleb Jones keeping it away from one of the Islanders,
- 23:37Speaker 20: now pushed up ahead, Brazel playing it off the board, tack.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Justin Brosso.
- 23:46Speaker 19: Three goals with.
- 23:47Speaker 17: The Penguins in two games, and this one puts them
- 23:51Speaker 17: on top.
- 23:52Speaker 12: In Moore three pins that would hold up as a
- 23:56Speaker 12: game winner for the Penguins, who are now two to zero.
- 23:59Speaker 12: This that call courtesy Joe brand one O five nine
- 24:03Speaker 12: the X in Pittsburgh as of getting Maulkin and Sidney
- 24:06Speaker 12: Crosby well doing Mulkin and Crosby things, they combined for
- 24:10Speaker 12: five points. Brazos game tying or game breaking goal late
- 24:14Speaker 12: to break the tie, and that also helping spoil Matthew
- 24:17Speaker 12: Shaffer's NHL debut. Penguins win four to three over the
- 24:20Speaker 12: Islanders at PPG Paints Arena. Footnote though for Schaeffer the
- 24:25Speaker 12: ad and assists become the youngest defenseman in NHL history
- 24:29Speaker 12: to get a point in his debut. That mark hel
- 24:32Speaker 12: previously by Scott Needtermeyer. Not too shabby for Matthew Shaeffer.
- 24:36Speaker 12: Penguins though, win for to three over the Islanders back
- 24:39Speaker 12: after this final score again from Clement Pledge Arena Cracking

- 29:07Speaker 16: In section twenty.
- 29:08Speaker 12: Al Kiniski has made his way down to the set
- 29:11Speaker 12: here as we get sept for talking Kraken coming up
- 29:13Speaker 12: in just a bit again, Texas right now four nine
- 29:16Speaker 12: four five to one. Who made the biggest impression with
- 29:19Speaker 12: you in the win here for this evening four nine
- 29:21Speaker 12: four five one. I want to get back to that goal,
- 29:24Speaker 12: that Marchman score because the Kraken we're bending but not breaking.
- 29:28Speaker 12: Shots were twenty to five in favor of Anaheim, but
- 29:32Speaker 12: it seemed as if that was a big turning point
- 29:34Speaker 12: with the speed and the will of Brandon Montor to
- 29:36Speaker 12: set that play up well.
- 29:37Speaker 4: I talked about that in the Keys a little bit.
- 29:39Speaker 4: That zone entries we're gonna have to be controlled by Seattle.
- 29:41Speaker 4: I thought they did a pretty good job of that.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Although Anaheim did get a lot of pucks to the net,
- 29:45Speaker 4: Joey Decor doing his part to keep them out of
- 29:48Speaker 4: the net and like you said, keeping them in the game.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Had Joey let a couple more of those goals go
- 29:53Speaker 4: in in the first half of the game and maybe
- 29:54Speaker 4: Seattle finds himself in a three to one, three to
- 29:57Speaker 4: two game in the third period, could be a different outcomes.
- 30:00Speaker 4: So big part of the win tonight comes from thirty
- 30:02Speaker 4: five and what he did between the pipes.
- 30:04Speaker 12: We heard about details, We heard about discipline from Lane
- 30:07Speaker 12: Lambert for a month here in training camp in preseason
- 30:10Speaker 12: leading us up to tonight. But I mentioned the three g's, guts, gyle,
- 30:13Speaker 12: and goaltending. That took care of the jobs. So to you,
- 30:16Speaker 12: what did Game one represent for the lanin Lambert era?
- 30:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought so as well. You know, Seattle out
- 30:21Speaker 4: hit Anaheim forty eight thirty six and that's an Tannaheim
- 30:25Speaker 4: team with a radco Goudas and a troop on the
- 30:28Speaker 4: blue line that would love to hit you all night
- 30:31Speaker 4: long if they could. But out hitting a team like
- 30:33Speaker 4: that was impressive. We talked to Ryan Winterton after the game.
- 30:37Speaker 4: He had five of those hits. I think only Ellie
- 30:39Speaker 4: Toldinen had won more than that. So at the top
- 30:42Speaker 4: of the hits chart was twenty six. Leading that to
- 30:45Speaker 4: physical play and I think that's a big part of
- 30:48Speaker 4: a gritty, physical, defensive focused game is playing hard like that.
- 30:52Speaker 12: It was on the right wing with Mason Marchman to
- 30:54Speaker 12: his opposite side, Chandler Stevenson in the middle. Ryan Winterton
- 30:58Speaker 12: definitely a big part of this one. You're for so,
- 31:00Speaker 12: folks Texas who made that biggest impression with you on
- 31:03Speaker 12: the Crack inside it in their three to one win
- 31:05Speaker 12: four nine four or five to one on the KJR
- 31:08Speaker 12: text line, Alan, I will react, Plus we'll have more
- 31:10Speaker 12: reaction from downstairs in just a bit time. Now for

- 38:20Speaker 12: four nine four five one. We're gonna get some more
- 38:22Speaker 12: reaction from downstairs. We expect shortly and a Zalkiniski joins
- 38:26Speaker 12: us right now without further ado.
- 38:29Speaker 16: And as we head it.
- 38:30Speaker 12: In the game one, we hear a lot about details,
- 38:32Speaker 12: We hear a lot about discipline, and maybe some nervous
- 38:35Speaker 12: time early in period one and Anaheim putting on a
- 38:38Speaker 12: puck possession clinic. But then you saw the tweaks and
- 38:42Speaker 12: the adjustments in it really seemed like the Kraken finally
- 38:45Speaker 12: found their legs, so to speak.
- 38:47Speaker 16: In period three.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought in the first period, maybe the first
- 38:50Speaker 4: twenty seven minutes of the game. Going to the second
- 38:53Speaker 4: period there as well, Anaheim was quick to the puck
- 38:56Speaker 4: there were, and not just loose pucks even when Seattle
- 38:59Speaker 4: had the puck there, quick to closing gaps to force
- 39:02Speaker 4: Seattle to make decisions maybe a little faster than they
- 39:04Speaker 4: wanted to. That seemed to change a little bit in
- 39:06Speaker 4: the second half of the second period when the ice
- 39:08Speaker 4: tipped the other way. Certainly by the time that Seattle
- 39:12Speaker 4: got that second goal, the Marchmen goal, and they fed
- 39:15Speaker 4: off of that and continued to thrive through the rest
- 39:17Speaker 4: of the second period, and then by the time he
- 39:19Speaker 4: got to the third mic it was close out time.
- 39:21Speaker 5: And they did a great job with that.
- 39:23Speaker 12: Jared McCann helped close this thing out of four twenty
- 39:25Speaker 12: five into period three, So that top line really kind
- 39:27Speaker 12: of helped with the dagger in so to speak for
- 39:30Speaker 12: this game McCann from Matty Beaneers and Jordan Beverley. But
- 39:33Speaker 12: how many times did we talk about NetFront presence. It
- 39:37Speaker 12: was McCann who went right of the net, was gifted
- 39:40Speaker 12: with a golden opportunity and Matty Baneer's tape to tape.
- 39:43Speaker 12: It was a silky smooth feet as well well, and it.
- 39:45Speaker 4: All started with a fantastic dumping by Jordan Neverley cross
- 39:49Speaker 4: ice in the offensive zone into an area where Matty
- 39:51Speaker 4: Baneers could get to it. Maddy recognizes that McCann's going
- 39:55Speaker 4: to the net, so we chops at the puck and
- 39:56Speaker 4: puts it right on the McCann's sticker, then puts it
- 39:58Speaker 4: over those shalls shoulder for a great goal. So a
- 40:02Speaker 4: great top line goal if you will, to put this
- 40:05Speaker 4: game late in the third period out of reach for Anaheim.
- 40:09Speaker 4: But going back to that lane Lambert style, you know,
- 40:11Speaker 4: I look at some of the stats from tonight Seattle
- 40:14Speaker 4: block shots twenty seven to seven and you might say, well,
- 40:18Speaker 4: that's because Anaheim put a lot of shots on goal.
- 40:20Speaker 4: They were blocking shots all night. Seattle came back, it
- 40:23Speaker 4: ended up being thirty six to thirty one, but Anaheim
- 40:26Speaker 4: only had seven block shot shots. So Seattle was getting
- 40:29Speaker 4: a lot more of their shots through to the net
- 40:32Speaker 4: over the course of sixty minutes. And they were also
- 40:34Speaker 4: doing a good job blocking a lot of Anaheim shots.
- 40:37Speaker 4: That's a that's a hallmark of a of a team.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Defense first structure is blocking shots.
- 40:42Speaker 12: And this is the kind of win that we're gonna
- 40:44Speaker 12: have to see. I think a lot from this team
- 40:45Speaker 12: here this season. You mentioned it, Everett mentioned it as well.
- 40:49Speaker 12: They aren't built top to bottom here to try to
- 40:51Speaker 12: rip off six seven goals tonight.
- 40:53Speaker 16: You gotta find ways to win.
- 40:54Speaker 12: Three one two one, three two, that golden number, as
- 40:58Speaker 12: we say, especially when it comes down to crunch time.
- 41:00Speaker 12: I'm here in the NHL. But one number that I
- 41:02Speaker 12: also look at. And yes, you can say hits can
- 41:04Speaker 12: be maybe a subjective number, and what does that say
- 41:07Speaker 12: about your game, But forty eight hits in this game,
- 41:10Speaker 12: my goodness, thirty six is well for Anaheim. But the Kraken,
- 41:13Speaker 12: we're laying the body in virtually all night long.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and we mentioned in Winterton's five hits ty Karca
- 41:19Speaker 4: he also had five. Ellie Toldnan who I think when
- 41:22Speaker 4: Ellie Tolvinen plays his best hockey, he plays a physical game.
- 41:25Speaker 4: I'm not saying he needs to get every six hits
- 41:28Speaker 4: every night or more, but tonight he had six, and
- 41:30Speaker 4: I think that feeds right into his game. So there's
- 41:32Speaker 4: a if I'm doing my math correctly, there's sixteen of
- 41:35Speaker 4: the forty eight hits right there between those three guys,
- 41:38Speaker 4: and I think they need all three of them need
- 41:39Speaker 4: to keep playing that way.
- 41:40Speaker 12: Again, the Crack at a three to one win over
- 41:42Speaker 12: the Anaheim Ducks onto a one n O star for
- 41:45Speaker 12: the first time and their five year franchise history. Vince
- 41:48Speaker 12: Dunn got it going to twenty one into the game
- 41:51Speaker 12: that could Seneca tie things up. First career NHL goal.
- 41:54Speaker 12: Congratulations to the youngster for the Ducks. Think he's some
- 41:57Speaker 12: marchmen though, What a way to say hello. Eventual game
- 42:01Speaker 12: winning goal that coming three point fifty into period two,
- 42:04Speaker 12: and then Jared mccannon helping finish things off at four
- 42:07Speaker 12: to twenty five of period three. Again the Crack can
- 42:10Speaker 12: win three to one over the Ducks Texas right now
- 42:13Speaker 12: four nine four five one on the kJ R tech line.
- 42:15Speaker 12: Who made the biggest impression with you? Four nine four
- 42:19Speaker 12: five one. But for now downstairs we go and the
- 42:22Speaker 12: first star of the game. He had thirty five saves.
- 42:25Speaker 12: Ask Joey to Cord meeting with the media right now.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Joey, this team hasn't had success in home openers before.
- 42:30Speaker 28: How good is it feel to get a win to
- 42:31Speaker 28: start the season off in front of these great fans.
- 42:34Speaker 28: I didn't know that, Actually I didn't know that, But
- 42:36Speaker 28: I mean, anytime you can start off on the right foot,
- 42:39Speaker 28: it's a positive.
- 42:41Speaker 9: You know.
- 42:41Speaker 28: I think there's so many good teams in the NHL
- 42:44Speaker 28: that any way that you can win any given night.
- 42:46Speaker 28: Some nights is gonna be ugly, some night's gonna be pretty.
- 42:48Speaker 28: But any night you can get two points is huge.
- 42:50Speaker 28: And to be able to start off on the right
- 42:52Speaker 28: foot here with two points and hopefully get this train
- 42:55Speaker 28: rolling in the right direction is is a big positive
- 42:58Speaker 28: for sure.
- 42:59Speaker 5: Joey.
- 42:59Speaker 1: What'd you make of the low of this game?
- 43:00Speaker 28: Just kind of how the team looked in the first
- 43:02Speaker 28: period compared to later in the game. Yeah, I mean
- 43:05Speaker 28: it's always tough starting starting the game with you know,
- 43:08Speaker 28: all like the ceremonies and festivities before. It's a lot
- 43:10Speaker 28: of standing around and waiting, and it's a it's not
- 43:14Speaker 28: an excuse, but it's a it's definitely a big difference.
- 43:17Speaker 5: From the flow of a normal game.
- 43:19Speaker 28: You know, I think we played I think we played well,
- 43:22Speaker 28: even though I mean the shot counter was a little
- 43:25Speaker 28: offsided at first.
- 43:26Speaker 5: But I thought we played well.
- 43:28Speaker 28: I thought we just like found a way to just
- 43:30Speaker 28: battle through it as a group and then eventually, like
- 43:33Speaker 28: as we started to get our legs there in the
- 43:34Speaker 28: second period and then eventually dominate the third was it
- 43:37Speaker 28: was great to see from my end. And and just
- 43:39Speaker 28: game one to eighty two, we hadn't played a game
- 43:41Speaker 28: in eight days.
- 43:42Speaker 5: We just built from.
- 43:42Speaker 28: Here and coach Coach Lambert has talked a lot about
- 43:45Speaker 28: you know, defensive structure and kindability all.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Did you see that in the in the game tonight?
- 43:49Speaker 5: Absolutely? Yeah, you can see it all over the ice.
- 43:51Speaker 5: It's probably easier for us to see because we know
- 43:53Speaker 5: exactly what he.
- 43:53Speaker 28: Wants and when it looks the right way and when
- 43:56Speaker 28: it doesn't, and you know, you can see it is
- 43:58Speaker 28: you can see.
- 43:58Speaker 5: It coming, and it's not gonna be a perfect you know.
- 44:03Speaker 28: Right away, but we're gonna we're gonna keep building with it,
- 44:05Speaker 28: and we're gonna keep getting better with the structure.
- 44:08Speaker 29: Sure what you thought Ryan Winterton was an unsung hero
- 44:13Speaker 29: the hits, he had, the back checks, he made the
- 44:17Speaker 29: blocks and so on, doing all the things that aren't
- 44:20Speaker 29: as glamorous, but that he'lp you win.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I think that we're gonna need a lot of that
- 44:24Speaker 1: all year.
- 44:24Speaker 28: Yeah, WinCE was great tonight. I mean I can think
- 44:27Speaker 28: of a lot of big plays from so many guys.
- 44:30Speaker 28: I mean, A's had some blocks tonight, Maddie had a
- 44:32Speaker 28: big block there with the goalie Pold. You know, WinCE,
- 44:35Speaker 28: WinCE was solid. I think doing the things that aren't
- 44:38Speaker 28: pretty are gonna be the biggest keys to us being
- 44:40Speaker 28: successful this year. And I mean, I thought we did
- 44:43Speaker 28: a great job of that tonight. So many good, strong,
- 44:45Speaker 28: defensive plays and you know, we'll just keep keeping you
- 44:48Speaker 28: forth from here. In what ways do you feel like
- 44:50Speaker 28: the guys in front of you played well in the
- 44:51Speaker 28: first period when that's what you said. I just think
- 44:54Speaker 28: it's a mindset thing, like, hey, when it's not necessarily
- 44:56Speaker 28: going our way, and they were maybe executing their game
- 44:59Speaker 28: plan a little bit better than we were at the beginning.
- 45:01Speaker 28: We found a way to get through it. And I
- 45:03Speaker 28: think that's a mentality thing, and I think it's a
- 45:05Speaker 28: commitment to sticking to the process, doing the right things,
- 45:08Speaker 28: and good things will happen.
- 45:11Speaker 12: That's cracking. Goaltender Joey to coord meeting with the media tonight.
- 45:14Speaker 12: He was the first star of the game in a
- 45:16Speaker 12: thirty five save effort and al we know that a
- 45:19Speaker 12: key for Krackings success this season has to be goaltending,
- 45:22Speaker 12: not just from him, but also top to bottom. Yet,
- 45:25Speaker 12: for period one, where would the cracking be without Joey?
- 45:29Speaker 12: To cord, it is a scary thought.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, there's two different ways that I think a goaltender
- 45:33Speaker 4: can keep you in a game. There's there's you know,
- 45:35Speaker 4: hanging him out to drive where he's going to come
- 45:37Speaker 4: up with big saves. I'm thinking breakaways. I'm thinking one
- 45:40Speaker 4: timers constantly on the backside. I'm talking about passes across
- 45:43Speaker 4: the blue paint that aren't taken away.
- 45:45Speaker 5: He didn't have a lot of those tonight.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Most most of his saves were saves where he was
- 45:49Speaker 4: able to see the puck, and again, I think that's
- 45:52Speaker 4: part of that defensive structure is take away players in front,
- 45:55Speaker 4: so Joey can't get screened, or whoever's playing a goal
- 45:58Speaker 4: can't get screened. Takeaway sticks from the inflections, don't allow
- 46:01Speaker 4: guys to get to rebounds. Clear rebounds, but give him
- 46:04Speaker 4: not shot, and I think that you know, goaltenders will say,
- 46:07Speaker 4: if you let me see that shot, I will make
- 46:09Speaker 4: the save, I will manage the puck and then we
- 46:11Speaker 4: can go from there.
- 46:12Speaker 12: Let's check it here with a KJR text line four
- 46:14Speaker 12: nine four five one folks again, Texas, right now, who
- 46:17Speaker 12: you think made the biggest impression with you in this
- 46:19Speaker 12: three one crack and victory over Anaheim from the four
- 46:23Speaker 12: eight to oh saying Brandon Montor made the biggest impression.
- 46:26Speaker 12: It's like an offensive player playing defense and yep, best
- 46:29Speaker 12: brandon Montor doing brandon Montor things. We'll get to him
- 46:32Speaker 12: as well in a little bit here, but we get
- 46:35Speaker 12: a lot of reaction coming in with a lot of
- 46:38Speaker 12: optimism here with how this team is coming out from
- 46:42Speaker 12: the gates game number one from the four to two
- 46:44Speaker 12: to five saying, rough start, but love the hits that
- 46:46Speaker 12: Mason Marchman had here for the win that from Jeff
- 46:49Speaker 12: in the four to two five.
- 46:51Speaker 16: Let's re visit this.
- 46:52Speaker 12: Here with Brandon Montour Alligan four nine four five one.
- 46:54Speaker 12: We're gonna hear from Lane Lambert later on. But you
- 46:57Speaker 12: and I and Everett talked to Lane Lambert a day
- 47:00Speaker 12: about Brandon Montour, and there's a bit of a tweak
- 47:03Speaker 12: when you bring in a new coach, new ideas, a
- 47:06Speaker 12: new system, and for Brandon Montour, a guy who can
- 47:09Speaker 12: wheel all over the ice. He had eighteen goals last season,
- 47:11Speaker 12: a career high for him. But with a system that
- 47:14Speaker 12: provides more structure, how much does he have to dial
- 47:18Speaker 12: things back? And the feeling I get after talking with
- 47:20Speaker 12: Lane Lambert is, yeah, you do want to have him
- 47:23Speaker 12: maybe you know, think twice or maybe use his brains
- 47:26Speaker 12: before he jumps into the play too much.
- 47:28Speaker 16: There's not a point where you want to be reckless
- 47:30Speaker 16: per se.
- 47:31Speaker 12: But yet he still is allowed to play his game,
- 47:34Speaker 12: and he showed the right time to jump in and
- 47:36Speaker 12: make a play.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got to play his game. And I think
- 47:38Speaker 4: the words that Lane used with us today is he's
- 47:40Speaker 4: got to pick his spots as well. And I think
- 47:42Speaker 4: that he picked up right where he left off last
- 47:44Speaker 4: season in picking his spots to jump into offensive situations,
- 47:49Speaker 4: turning two on twos into three on twos or one
- 47:51Speaker 4: on ones into two on ones, and I thought.
- 47:53Speaker 5: He did a good job with that.
- 47:54Speaker 4: Now you could see a couple of times where he
- 47:56Speaker 4: got caught deep and he recognized it really quickly, and
- 47:59Speaker 4: he recognized that the opportunity had now passed and he
- 48:02Speaker 4: needed to get back on defense quickly. You saw him
- 48:04Speaker 4: charge back on defense just as hard as he charged
- 48:07Speaker 4: up on offense. So he was a big part of
- 48:09Speaker 4: that second goal. That's Marchman goal. I want to encourage
- 48:12Speaker 4: that if i'm him, as long as he's not hurting
- 48:14Speaker 4: the team defensively, and I don't think he did tonight.
- 48:17Speaker 12: His partner Ryan lind Grin had a breakaway coming off
- 48:20Speaker 12: a penalty kill in the second period.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Hey, he's got He almost found that five hole too.
- 48:26Speaker 5: I wasn't really sure where that puck was.
- 48:28Speaker 4: He knew it was underneath him somewhere, but he didn't
- 48:30Speaker 4: want to slide back any further than he needed to.
- 48:32Speaker 12: Lynn Grin six block shots. What'd you make out of
- 48:34Speaker 12: the lynd Gren Montor pairing tonight?
- 48:36Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 48:36Speaker 4: I thought, you know, Lingrin played a solid game, you know,
- 48:39Speaker 4: even the aside from the breakaway opportunity that he didn't score,
- 48:42Speaker 4: And I thought he played his game, which was you know,
- 48:44Speaker 4: clearing bodies in front of the net, playing physical in
- 48:47Speaker 4: the corner. I think he blocked a shot there near
- 48:49Speaker 4: the end of the game, kind of in his abdomen area,
- 48:51Speaker 4: and it stung a bit, but he popped right back
- 48:53Speaker 4: up and you could see him wincing on his face
- 48:55Speaker 4: a little bit and then continuing to play. So I
- 48:57Speaker 4: love I love the warrior mentality in him.
- 49:00Speaker 12: Four two five saying Joey the cord gets the props
- 49:02Speaker 12: here for tonight, and the five oho three saying Ryan
- 49:05Speaker 12: Winterton looks like he belongs in this league. And it
- 49:08Speaker 12: feels like additional conditioning and practices paying off for everyone.
- 49:13Speaker 12: They had good pace in period three that from the
- 49:16Speaker 12: five oh three before we go to break. I did
- 49:18Speaker 12: want to bring that up as well. With Lane Lambert
- 49:19Speaker 12: taking over roughly a month ago, and we've seen some
- 49:21Speaker 12: of the drills, we've seen conditioning and you heard players
- 49:24Speaker 12: talk about just how intense it was as well from
- 49:26Speaker 12: the get go. But that's got to be an important
- 49:28Speaker 12: key when you consider how many back to backs that
- 49:31Speaker 12: they could play here for the season.
- 49:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that that conditioning's gonna really, you know,
- 49:35Speaker 4: show paying off in those back to backs, and we're
- 49:38Speaker 4: going to see one right on that first road trip
- 49:40Speaker 4: and it'll be a big test there. But I think
- 49:42Speaker 4: that a combination of that conditioning along with that defensive
- 49:45Speaker 4: structure that they're they're installing right now will help get
- 49:48Speaker 4: them through those second games in two days where you know,
- 49:51Speaker 4: they don't necessarily play wide as wide open as they
- 49:55Speaker 4: did last season. They can rely on their defensive structure
- 49:59Speaker 4: and like we saw tonight, take advantage of opportunities when
- 50:02Speaker 4: they come up. Siella had seven takeaways tonight Anaheim head two.
- 50:05Speaker 4: It's those takeaways that often result in scoring opportunities. And
- 50:09Speaker 4: again you jump on them when you can.
- 50:11Speaker 12: Four nine four or five one, Texas right now on
- 50:13Speaker 12: the KJR text line and tell us who made the
- 50:15Speaker 12: biggest impression with you in this three to one crack

- 52:58Speaker 3: lead fifty team thirty five left.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Of the third well, fantastic zone entry by Seattle as
- 53:05Speaker 4: they got that puck proces Ice every dumps it into
- 53:08Speaker 4: the far quarner, but Heers gets to win first.
- 53:11Speaker 5: Just a chalk of the puck up to.
- 53:12Speaker 4: The further of them that but Ken gets that chuck
- 53:15Speaker 4: close top shelf plucker side.
- 53:17Speaker 12: Three to one cracking promising signs on opening night as
- 53:21Speaker 12: that top line with the krack and makes their statement
- 53:24Speaker 12: Jared mccannon from Maddy Beniers and Jordan Everley finishing a
- 53:27Speaker 12: three to one crack and win over the Anaheim Ducks.
- 53:30Speaker 12: Mike Benton al Kiniski with you back by the corps
- 53:32Speaker 12: light landing in section twenty here on talking cracking downstairs,
- 53:36Speaker 12: we go for more reaction with cracking head coach Lane Lambert.
- 53:42Speaker 5: Uh Lean.
- 53:43Speaker 12: What were the biggest adjustments that you saw from the
- 53:45Speaker 12: guys from the.
- 53:46Speaker 14: First period through to the third period to night really
- 53:48Speaker 14: flippings around.
- 53:50Speaker 10: I think you know early on we we're having trouble,
- 53:56Speaker 10: you know, making some plays coming to oursil woman and
- 54:00Speaker 10: up you know, it ended up in a situation where
- 54:02Speaker 10: we spent a lot of time in our zone in
- 54:05Speaker 10: the first period, and you know, we we had the
- 54:08Speaker 10: puck on our stick a lot, so it's just some
- 54:11Speaker 10: turnovers and things like that. I thought we did a
- 54:13Speaker 10: better job of managing that as the game one went on.
- 54:17Speaker 10: I also thought that we hear a lot more aggressive
- 54:20Speaker 10: sort of in the back half of the game.
- 54:31Speaker 28: Lean on the goal that Marchman scores, monitor steals in
- 54:34Speaker 28: the defensive zone, raises it up the ice. Is that
- 54:37Speaker 28: kind of your definition of turning defense into offense?
- 54:40Speaker 5: Like, is that kind of what you're looking.
- 54:42Speaker 4: For in the front.
- 54:42Speaker 10: Yeah, he did exactly. He did exactly what I guess
- 54:46Speaker 10: what we we wanted him to do. Of course, he
- 54:49Speaker 10: made an elite play, you know, so certainly certainly was
- 54:54Speaker 10: a well done from that standpoint that the whole sequence
- 54:57Speaker 10: was pretty well defended. And then you know, then you
- 55:01Speaker 10: you know, you've got to an elite player making an
- 55:02Speaker 10: a lead play.
- 55:04Speaker 5: That's always nice to see.
- 55:06Speaker 28: And jere McCann said, there's some encouragement as you would
- 55:09Speaker 28: call it, in the dressing.
- 55:10Speaker 5: Room in between periods.
- 55:11Speaker 28: Did you hear any of that or where you in
- 55:13Speaker 28: all the conversation all to help turn things around in
- 55:16Speaker 28: the second Yeah.
- 55:17Speaker 10: I mean, you know, you get into a home opener
- 55:20Speaker 10: and there's some nerves. You haven't played a You played
- 55:24Speaker 10: some exhibition games, but you haven't played you know, quote
- 55:27Speaker 10: unquote a regular season or a real game for a
- 55:32Speaker 10: long time. You know, And if you're if you're looking
- 55:36Speaker 10: at the league as a whole right now, I think
- 55:39Speaker 10: home teams were like two and seven in the first
- 55:42Speaker 10: two nights or two and five in the first two nights.
- 55:45Speaker 10: You know, you get the introductions and your your routine
- 55:50Speaker 10: is a little off or whatever, and so there's times
- 55:55Speaker 10: when teams are coming out a little slow, and that's
- 55:56Speaker 10: what we did.
- 55:59Speaker 13: Gradual licendulations on your first win tonight. The one one
- 56:05Speaker 13: goal scored per every five goals is an awesome ratio.
- 56:09Speaker 13: How do you feel about the net presence of that
- 56:11Speaker 13: first initial quarter with five.
- 56:14Speaker 5: Shots on goal?
- 56:16Speaker 10: Well, again, we uh, you know, we we got out
- 56:20Speaker 10: shot pretty badly in the first period, spent a lot
- 56:24Speaker 10: of time in our zone, so uh, you know, obviously
- 56:29Speaker 10: the goal early on was nice to have, but we
- 56:33Speaker 10: knew we needed to get you know, a little bit
- 56:35Speaker 10: more on the offense.
- 56:36Speaker 17: And I think as the game went on, we did.
- 56:39Speaker 26: To see Brandon be able to make that play with
- 56:43Speaker 26: the downtime he'd had during camp and such. What does
- 56:45Speaker 26: that kind of say about him in the effort he
- 56:47Speaker 26: was able to give with the couple weeks off and everything,
- 56:49Speaker 26: and to be able to jump back into it like that,
- 56:51Speaker 26: this early, this.
- 56:51Speaker 10: Quick thing, well it just you know, it shows you
- 56:53Speaker 10: what kind of play he is. He's a he's a
- 56:55Speaker 10: top end NHL defenseman, and so you know, it was
- 57:00Speaker 10: it was and I was standing play. But he you know,
- 57:03Speaker 10: he did a lot of good things tonight. You know,
- 57:06Speaker 10: he drives us, He drives us up the ice, he
- 57:08Speaker 10: drives the offense. So it's you know, it's certainly it's
- 57:11Speaker 10: certainly nice to see him involved. And he was desperately
- 57:16Speaker 10: needed by a Rocket team tonight needed a great job coach.
- 57:19Speaker 13: Somebody mentioned NetFront presence earlier, and all three of your
- 57:22Speaker 13: goals tonight had an element of NetFront presence between TOLN and.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Screen and then the two Bang Nang versions.
- 57:30Speaker 3: In a game like this, when when it's so tight checking,
- 57:33Speaker 3: both teams are structurally sound, I mean, how much is
- 57:35Speaker 3: that going to be a difference maker?
- 57:37Speaker 10: Do you think going forward for your team, and were
- 57:40Speaker 10: you pleased with how much of it he saw?
- 57:42Speaker 5: I thought it was.
- 57:43Speaker 10: I thought it was pretty good. And to answer your question,
- 57:47Speaker 10: how much of it it's it's critical. There's little details
- 57:52Speaker 10: and little things within the game that you know make
- 57:56Speaker 10: the difference between winning and losing, and you know there's
- 58:00Speaker 10: a number of those things. Certainly met presences is one
- 58:04Speaker 10: of them. The goaltenders are too good in this league
- 58:07Speaker 10: that if you don't, you know, get in front of
- 58:09Speaker 10: them and take away their vision a little bit at times,
- 58:12Speaker 10: you know you're not going to have a lot of success.
- 58:14Speaker 10: So we'll continue with that theme and continue to try
- 58:17Speaker 10: to get them.
- 58:17Speaker 12: In reaction from head coach Lane Lambert in a three
- 58:22Speaker 12: to one crack and win over Anaheim on opening night,
- 58:25Speaker 12: Mike Benton ALKINISKI with you, So our final thoughts leading
- 58:28Speaker 12: here to this, You pass the first test for the
- 58:31Speaker 12: collective effort, and it gets a tad stiffer coming up
- 58:34Speaker 12: two days from now against the Vegas Golden Knights.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Well, I mean, if I could have scripted it this way,
- 58:38Speaker 4: this is the way I would have scripted it as
- 58:40Speaker 4: a solid win here at home for your home opener,
- 58:43Speaker 4: a three to one win. You carry that confidence into
- 58:45Speaker 4: tomorrow's practice. You start thinking about Saturday, Saturday's game against Vegas.
- 58:49Speaker 4: It's going to be a tougher game, and you get
- 58:51Speaker 4: ready to that. It's the last one at home for
- 58:53Speaker 4: a bit. You want to bring another level of your
- 58:55Speaker 4: game Saturday, and I think the boys teed themselves up
- 58:58Speaker 4: to do that.
- 58:58Speaker 12: And after that the crack on the road for six
- 59:00Speaker 12: games gonna be a challenging stretch as well, facing several
- 59:04Speaker 12: tough teams out of the Eastern Conference Winnipegan there, but
- 59:07Speaker 12: for tonight promising signs out of the gate in this
- 59:10Speaker 12: three to one victory against Vegas, can you believe they
- 59:13Speaker 12: have Season nine already underway? They lost to the Kings
- 59:16Speaker 12: in a shootout beat San Jose tonight in overtime. They
- 59:19Speaker 12: are one to zero and one the Krack and aiming
- 59:22Speaker 12: for their forth win all time against Vegas against a
- 59:25Speaker 12: team that won the Mitch Marners sweepstakes. And I love
- 59:29Speaker 12: the joke from Henrick Funquist of TNT talking about him
- 59:32Speaker 12: moving from Toronto to Vegas saying, quote, gonna be easier
- 59:35Speaker 12: to buy groceries unquote different market. But Mitch Marner out
- 59:40Speaker 12: of the Gate, not too shabby. He had two assists
- 59:42Speaker 12: in that game against Los Angeles, though Vegas tonight came
- 59:46Speaker 12: back after the shootout loss against the Kings and won
- 59:50Speaker 12: four to three the final and overtime over San Jose.
- 59:53Speaker 12: We gotta get out of here. Thanks friends again so much.
- 59:56Speaker 12: Here for your text, your reaction as a Kraken, a
- 59:59Speaker 12: winner to for the first time in franchise history, and
- 1:00:02Speaker 12: there's a season opener three to one win over Anaheim
- 1:00:05Speaker 12: are Thanks again to Travis Mulger, technical director, Terry Ryan,
- 1:00:09Speaker 12: on site engineer, and we'll do it for here for Alkatiski.
- 1:00:12Speaker 12: This is Mike Benton saying good night from Climbing Pledge
- 1:00:15Speaker 12: Arena and thank you for joining us. Your final score
- 1:00:17Speaker 12: once again cracking three ducks one. This is Tucking cracking
- 1:00:21Speaker 12: a ninety three to three KJR M
