- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Stories, strategies, and ideas to inspire positive change.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Divas That Care, a network of women committed to making our world a better place for everyone.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: This is a global movement for women, by women, engaged in a collaborative effort to create a better world for future generations.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: To find out more about the movement, visit DivasThatCare.com after the show.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Right now, though, stay tuned for another jolt of inspiration.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Hello everyone and welcome back to the Divas That Care.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: My name is Candice Gish.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I'm very excited about today's program.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: We're going to be introducing you a brand new diva that has joined us with her sister today.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: We've had the opportunity to have Hasina on our program before and now she's brought her sister Shamia to our program.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: So I'm very excited to have them both.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I think this is your very first time tuning in to the Divas That Care.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: The Divas That Care is now in its 11th season and we are listened to in over 30 countries around the world.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: It's because of all of you that we are able to share this amazing program around the world.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: So thank you so much.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: For all of our other shows, you can check out divas that care.com.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Well, as I said, today's a fantastic show, we're going to be introducing you to a book that is being launched.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: And I'm very excited because I can't wait to learn about this, this book.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: But before we do that, ladies, would you mind introducing yourselves to all of our listeners?
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Well, I've been on your show before.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: I've had that privilege.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: So I'm Hasina Patel, and we're actually from South Africa, and we're mind-body-spirit coaches.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: So my part in this, which this is, and we do this together, and my part in this is...
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: that I help coach women to unstress and unliver themselves and to reclaim their voices, which I think is so important because as women, often we're taught to be silent and polite and just be nice and really connect to themselves.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: So that's what I do.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: And of course, I'm an author and a speaker as well.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: And this is our second book that we've co-authored together that I'm so excited about.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: And I'm Shamima and the younger sister and all the background support of our group and as well in part of our programs, I coach them as well.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: And yeah, I do a whole lot of other stuff.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Shamima does the website designing as well for us and for other people with causes.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: So we kind of have different roles and different personalities, which I think compliment each other.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: At least we like each other.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: But you know what?
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: It's amazing when you can do this with your family.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: Like I've had the opportunity to do my program with my daughters.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: You know, they're a big part of why we started the Divas That Care.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So whenever I get this opportunity to interview any types of family members, I just get so excited.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: that's going to say, tell us about this amazing book that you've just launched.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Well, that is launching actually tomorrow.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Well, we are so excited.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: So the title is Unstressed, Unlimited and Unbreakable Guide to Finding and Reclaiming Who You Are in a Brave New World.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: And I think where it comes from is that Lakshmita and I, we grew up non-white in apartheid South Africa, which is, We've had experiences where you could actually see that you were silenced in a way, because we always, anyone who knows about apartheid knows that the racism was institutionalized.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: And then on the other side, we had this amazing, we went to a school that was multiracial, run by Dominican sisters, so we had this amazing vision of how it could be, and all this unity.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: And I think it kind of came together when we started with Well, I think our journey with the book started a long time ago, long before we started writing the book.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: And we learned that our voice is also important.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: What we're doing matters.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: What everyone's doing matters.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: And you learn to find, well, who am I?
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: What do I want to say?
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: What message do I carry?
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: And what does it all mean?
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: I think...
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: I think when COVID came along, we had to totally re-evaluate our lives.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: And it's sort of a wake-up call because I think most of us live our life by habit.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: We get into routines, we get into what we do every day, and we never take time to start and say, well, is this still me?
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Does this still fit me?
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Is this where I want to go with my life?
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: We're just so buffed in by everything that we have fitted around ourselves over the many, many years.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: And that's part of the reason we wrote this book to help people discover their own voices again and what is important to them in their lives and what costs they want their lives
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: to pay.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love that.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I'm excited because tomorrow when it launches, I'm excited to purchase one myself because I have loved everything that the two of you have been doing.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: You know, when we had you on our program before, you had talked about your amazing Leave No Girl Behind.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: And I was just beyond amazed.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: inspired by how you had done that and this being your second book I'm like I really believe everybody needs to check it out because you have words of inspiration um you do so many things like you have groups of people and you do a lot of stuff on Facebook um you try to connect people and I really respect that and I love that you're trying to make it a global movement um so yeah I applaud you both for the excellent work that you are doing out there
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: Thank
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: you.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: I love what you brought up about the whole global movement because the whole thing is, and I think we're seeing this right now, like Shamina was saying, it's in the time of COVID.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: And I think we're being called now that what do you stand for?
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: What decisions are you making?
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Because the decisions we're being asked to make now where it's either yes or no, it's not something like, well, maybe you either do this or you don't do this.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: don't do this, or this is how you feel, or this is how you don't feel.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: A lot of people don't know how they feel.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: So bringing your individuality to the table and contributing to this whole global community, each individual decision, each individual action and word and thought, it all contributes until we as a global community decide, well, what mark are we going to make on this world?
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Like, really?
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: And I think for the first you're being consciously made aware of that, that every single thing we say, what our actions, they count for something, you know?
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: And it's actually very empowering as much as it can be scary for people.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: I agree with that, you know?
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: And I think we need that more and more right now.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: We're bombarded with so much negativity, so much heartache that I think we need that positivity.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: And we need to be inspired.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: We need to know that we have people out there in our corner and they have tools that can really help us out.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: And the tools are so important because when we started writing this book, it was all about how can we make a difference, but not in an esoteric way.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: It's all very well and good to say, well, you know, do this, contribute to the world, make it a better place and, you know, just be positive, but it doesn't really do anything.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: So, like, what are you doing when you have this really bad day or, you know, when you're not feeling like you're in a good place?
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: And especially now, I mean, people have been going through a lot of anxiety, a lot of fear.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: So what do they do when maybe their kids are home and they can't get any time for themselves?
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: So there are little tools and techniques that you need to know how to do.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Do you guys want to share some of the tips and tools that you have in your book?
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think, yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Do you want to go first?
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, it's...
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: One of the things is just creating the space and it's really the first step because when you see yourself, you know, people say, I don't have the time, you know, I never have time for me.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: And then when they eventually have five or ten minutes, they think, what should I do with it?
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: And their whole ten minutes is spent on, I don't know what to do with myself.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't know what to do.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: And then they feel bad because they feel like they've wasted time and it's just a vicious cycle, right?
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: So what it is.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: What it is, is we just create that space.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: And the first thing is that anything that we practice and we make our default becomes our default.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Just like when you didn't have time to do something, that's become your default.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: And, you know, we tend to complain about it every day without even meaning to complain.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: It's a mindset.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: So, you know, for people who...
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: saying, well, I have three kids or I have five kids.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, you really don't know what you're talking about.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: Well, take those five minutes.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: Shamima, tell the rest one thing.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: What?
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: About what you said.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: We have an unbreakable time where women need to get unstressed and unlimited.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: And one of the women had mentioned about taking a rest in the day and how...
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: What did she say about that?
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she never gets a chance to.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: Like, where do you actually get time to take a rest?
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: But you can take time, like, if you go to the restroom.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: And so we redefine the meaning of restroom.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: It's a place to take five minutes to get your rest, to clear your mind, to maybe take a little short breathing exercise or something, but just re-center yourself.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: It's a restroom.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: If you're saying that, look, I don't have time, like where am I meant to find the time?
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: Take two minutes, go to the bathroom, go to the restaurant, or get in your car to do the shopping, and before you get out to go to the grocery store, All you do is just sit in your car for two minutes, or five minutes, and you just turn your phone on silent, and that's your time.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: And instead of thinking, what must I do?
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Take that time to just breathe deeply, because it unstresses you.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: So just taking a few deep breaths.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: I think that tip is...
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: And it's incredible when you have that silence, just like we're having right now.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: We were talking a lot, and now it's just a space of silence.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: You know, this book that we were, before our program, before we had started here, you had mentioned that you have a special, something that you're going to be giving away tomorrow on the day that you are launching your book.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Do you guys want to share that?
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Because that is pretty exciting news.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: So our book is going to be available for$0.99 tomorrow only.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: And for anyone who purchases our book, they just need to send us a photo of the receipt and we will automatically put them into our course called Unstressed, Unlimited, and Unbreakable.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: And we're giving away that course for free tomorrow for anyone who purchases the book.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: And then as a double bonus, we're actually also going to, for one lucky person, from all the receipts we receive before midnight tomorrow, Eastern Time, the accommodated time zone, but midnight tomorrow, then we actually, we're also going to give away one person a three-month membership to our Unbreakable Pride.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: Oh my
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: goodness.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: I think that is amazing.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: So what we need to do out there is share this as much as possible to all of our listeners.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Make sure that you do that because maybe you'll be one of the winners.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: So I love that.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: I think that is great.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: So tell us a little bit about these programs because that's going to drive the interest to really get this book.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: Well, with the course that we are offering free, we're going to do it live on Zoom and it will deal with the two major things, how to unscrape yourself and People are having a challenge, you know, and there's so many techniques.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: It's not just the breathing.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Well, what can you do to carve out time for yourself?
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: What can you do to be unattached to a certain expectation or an outcome?
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: What do you do when people's expectations are crowding you or you feel your circumstances aren't ideal?
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: How do you deal with that?
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: So that's the part of unstressing you.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: And then It's unlimiting yourself.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: We have so many thoughts which, where we're not advocating for self, we're actually arguing for our own limitations.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: And it's a matter of recognizing it and consciously making it our default to recognize that, saying, oh wait, am I advocating for myself?
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: So the different techniques we'll be teaching to be able to do that So Unstraining and Unlimiting Yourself is going to be live on Zoom.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: It will be over a few days.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: And it will be recorded.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: So anyone who doesn't make the live could just listen to the recording.
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: And it will be very interactive.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: And it will also be space for people to ask their questions as well.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: So it's basically what the teacher is about, taking it just a little step further.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: That is wonderful.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: All right, ladies, now you have to share your website.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: We've been talking about your book.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: We've been talking about the fantastic things you're doing.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: And what I'm going to be doing for our listeners is I will be posting.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: all the information about where they can purchase this book tomorrow.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Because I think that's really important because we want them to get into this amazing free Zoom event that they can learn even more.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: But how can they get a hold of you if they have questions?
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: What's your website address?

- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Is there any last minute things, anything you want to share with our listeners today?
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: I
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: just want to say, well, Take the opportunity to, you know, just if there's one thing you could do for yourself, just take the opportunity to carve out a little bit of time for yourself, even if it's two minutes or five minutes.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: And the secret is just consistency.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: And the rest of the techniques can come, so just giving yourself that time.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: I
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: love it.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Thank you guys so much for coming on.
