- 0:00Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed episode 81.
- 0:02Dayna Roselli: More free concerts announced on Fremont Street.
- 0:05Dayna Roselli: COVID Soup.
- 0:06Sean McAllister: That's what some people are calling Vegas pool parties.
- 0:10Dayna Roselli: Plus, inside the taping of a Vegas comedy special.
- 0:13Sean McAllister: And we got a lot of feedback about our last episode.
- 0:17Sean McAllister: We reveal the reason why and explain what happened.
- 0:21Sean McAllister: Oh, let's spin the wheel.
- 0:35Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 81.
- 0:38Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli here along with Sean McAllister.
- 0:41Dayna Roselli: Gosh, we've been hosting this podcast now for gosh since January of 2020.
- 0:45Dayna Roselli: Big shout out to everyone.
- 0:47Dayna Roselli: We were doing some numbers the other day and we noticed our numbers have increased like 900% over the last four months.
- 0:53Sean McAllister: Yeah, at least, and I mean over a thousand percent from that very first episode back in January 2020.
- 1:00Sean McAllister: So a big thank you to everyone who uh has listened and continued to tune into Vegas Revealed because uh without you, we wouldn't be able to do this.
- 1:10Sean McAllister: And we appreciate the support and appreciate you listening and telling your friends about us.
- 1:15Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 1:15Dayna Roselli: We charted like in the top 10 in South Korea this week.
- 1:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, shout out.
- 1:19Sean McAllister: What's up, South Korea?
- 1:21Dayna Roselli: Thank you, South Korea.
- 1:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 1:23Dayna Roselli: But listen, everyone was really loving our podcast uh last week.
- 1:27Dayna Roselli: There were some hiccups that we need to explain.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: So we keep getting messages about this.
- 1:32Sean McAllister: Yeah, episode 80.
- 1:34Sean McAllister: It it as you tuned in last week, it may have sounded, not may have, for some of you, it sounded a lot different from what you've come to expect from Vegas Revealed.
- 1:44Sean McAllister: And uh it was a bit more of a a raw version of what we do, wouldn't you say?
- 1:49Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: So here's how we do this.
- 1:51Dayna Roselli: We record this and we take breaks and we count down and we start over and things like that.
- 1:57Dayna Roselli: Um, but we then edit that, okay?
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: We add a little music, we trim it down, you know, if there were any like major mistakes.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: We don't edit our ums and buts and all that kind of thing.
- 2:06Dayna Roselli: But um that was named episode 80 on my computer.
- 2:11Dayna Roselli: And then after we edit it, I had EP80 saved on my computer.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: So when I went to load the podcast last week, I clicked the wrong one.
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: Well, didn't realize it for two and a half hours.
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: So everyone that subscribes and it automatically downloads had our unedited version in their library, and sometimes apparently, Sean, people you know have it downloaded, but then they don't get around to listening to it for four or five days.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: So the messages keep coming in because even though we fixed it, unless you hit refresh and like delete the old download, then you're getting the raw version.
- 2:48Sean McAllister: So if you did listen to the raw version of the episode, which by the way did not contain any of our interviews that we did, you heard us toss to uh Derek Huff's interview and toss to Potted Potter.
- 3:02Sean McAllister: The Potted Potter interview, but you didn't hear the interview.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: So you may want to go back and re-download episode 80 if you didn't hear the complete edited version of the show.
- 3:13Sean McAllister: But, you know, you got uh we gave you a little peek behind the curtain.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: Yes, and the and the comments have been great.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: People are like, I kind of really enjoyed listening to how you guys do this.
- 3:23Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, nobody has said they didn't like it.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: So we're we're appreciative of that.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: I'm glad you got the behind the scenes, you know, chatter.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: And gosh, we went back and listened.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: We're like, did we talk about anyone?
- 3:34Dayna Roselli: Did we say anything?
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: And we didn't, so that's good.
- 3:36Sean McAllister: And uh listen, this is the way the the TV, radio, podcasting, that's the way it's done, and you gotta uh look at the the making of in episode 80.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: So in the midst of all that, uh was having a conversation with one of our listeners named Larry Shapiro, and then he, you know, he and I got into a chat and he said, Hey, I'd love for you guys to kind of do a short report on what's happening COVID-wise in Las Vegas.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: He said, We have a trip plan, but are a little bit nervous about rising cases, people ignoring the mask rules, if people are wearing them outside, how are the crowds?
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: And he was saying that he's seen a lot of videos where some places on the strip look just packed, which to him doesn't really appeal.
- 4:18Dayna Roselli: So we thought, okay, let's go over this because we have kind of been here and there and out and about, um, going to a lot of media events in the last two or three weeks, so we can kind of let Larry know what's going on.
- 4:30Sean McAllister: Yeah, and as we've talked about in past episodes, the the masks are back.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: It is now recommended again that you wear a mask inside uh really anywhere that you go in southern Nevada.
- 4:44Sean McAllister: If you're indoors, you need to have a mask on.
- 4:47Sean McAllister: And by and large, from everything that I've seen, people are following that in the casinos, in restaurants, inside stores.
- 4:56Sean McAllister: So that doesn't seem to be an issue, and it doesn't seem to be hindering people from coming here.
- 5:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, not at all.
- 5:05Dayna Roselli: We've seen the the traffic on the 15 coming in from California and Arizona still very busy, and as you walk around the hotel casinos, they are yeah, packed.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, there's people playing games, there's people going to shows.
- 5:19Dayna Roselli: Um, we have left two shows, um, I think in the last two weeks where when we leave, there's a line of people waiting to get into the next show.
- 5:27Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:27Dayna Roselli: So I'm seeing like, wow, like, yeah, people are looking to be entertained.
- 5:31Dayna Roselli: It doesn't seem to be stopping anything.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: Um, we've seen a lot of video of different pool parties and all that, and they look very busy on the weekends.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: It's also been extremely hot here.
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: One little thing that I did notice is, you know, I live next to the Sahara and I always look at the parking garage.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: I've talked about this before, kind of as a meter.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: And lately, like I'd say like when the masks were off for everyone, that parking garage was busy all week long.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: Recently, I've noticed it's kind of a little bit bare during the week, but the weekends it looks very busy.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: So I I don't know, maybe we're a little bit lighter on the the weekdays as expected, because we don't have tons of conventions here right now.
- 6:10Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 6:11Sean McAllister: Um, but once you're inside a showroom to see a show, people are still wearing masks.
- 6:16Sean McAllister: So that's not an issue.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: No.
- 6:18Sean McAllister: Um if people are sitting in booths uh with you know people that they know with a group of people, I have seen that people will not wear a mask, they'll take their masks off.
- 6:32Sean McAllister: Um depending on how strict the ushers and the management of that particular showroom are, they may come down and flash a light at you and ask you to put your mask back on.
- 6:43Sean McAllister: Sometimes they don't.
- 6:45Sean McAllister: Um so that's uh kind of a case-by-case situation.
- 6:49Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: It's a little hard to tell because people have drinks at their seats.
- 6:53Dayna Roselli: So it's like, you know, if you're sipping, you know, and then you I don't know, take a few swigs, you've plan on I know I'm gonna have another one here in in, you know, five seconds and probably just leave the mask off.
- 7:03Dayna Roselli: So uh but you're right, like if people are comfortable with the people that they're sitting around, it seems like I see the mask come down a little bit.
- 7:09Dayna Roselli: So I mean, that's you know, but you know, Larry, if you come and you know, you you protect yourself with your mask and don't plan on on taking it down, shouldn't be anyone too close to you that doesn't have a mask on.
- 7:21Sean McAllister: However, one place where we are not seeing masks are at the Vegas pool parties.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: Right.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: Which those are outdoor events, so really masks aren't required under the guidelines.
- 7:36Sean McAllister: However, it is a situation where people are packed in pretty close together.
- 7:41Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 7:42Dayna Roselli: I had a friend send me a video from one of the beach clubs here on the strip over the weekend, and she was amazed at how many people were out there and in the pool.
- 7:51Dayna Roselli: So I shared it on our TikTok, and it's uh starting to go viral, I would say.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: The comments are endless, and people are saying, no way, that looks like COVID soup, um, I'll pass, you know, maybe someday, but not yet.
- 8:05Dayna Roselli: And it goes on and on and on.
- 8:06Dayna Roselli: Um, so there's a lot of people that look at that and look, you know, kind of frown on it, and I I feel like that's probably where Larry's at.
- 8:13Dayna Roselli: He's not quite ready for that yet.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: But um, we do also know uh a couple people personally that that have contracted COVID that uh are vaccinated, so it's out there, and that is the reason for the whole mask mandate indoors.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: They are fine.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: Uh, a couple lost uh smell, taste, uh little sniffles, and they're fine.
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: So that's the great news is that um positive light there is that obviously if you get it and you're vaccinated right now.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: It seems like you know, the people and the things that we've heard that it just kind of comes across as a light coal.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: But the but the taste and smell thing's interesting because I kind of thought, well, maybe this new variant won't have that, but it does.
- 8:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, I that's what I I wake up every morning and I'm like, do I still have taste?
- 9:00Sean McAllister: Do I still have smell?
- 9:01Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: So yeah, so anyway, uh hopefully, Larry, that gives you an idea.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: Um, it is definitely busy here in Las Vegas still.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: Um people are going to shows, people are going out to dinner.
- 9:12Dayna Roselli: There are events that people are coming into town for, and it's been pretty busy.
- 9:18Sean McAllister: And here's a note kind of along the the mask situation.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: We were uh talking with someone at an event just last night, and uh he was wearing one of those kind of little plastic face shields that kind of go attaches to your chin, and it just kind of it comes up from the bottom and covers your mouth and nose a little bit, but it's open from the top.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: Uh he said that he's been able to wear those at a lot of properties.
- 9:45Sean McAllister: However, he tried to go to Aria and they asked him to put on a full fabric uh mask covering, which they provided to him.
- 9:55Sean McAllister: Um, but the little half plastic shield didn't cut it over at Aria.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah, interesting.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: They said, uh no, not here, you gotta do this.
- 10:04Dayna Roselli: So so FYI.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: So if you have one of those, I do see a lot of people using them.
- 10:09Dayna Roselli: You may be able to get away with it, you may not.
- 10:11Dayna Roselli: So depending on what property you're at and kind of who catches you.
- 10:15Sean McAllister: So just be aware that those policies aren't uniform across the board, so just pay attention.
- 10:20Sean McAllister: Um just wanna make a quick note.
- 10:23Sean McAllister: Coming up in our tips, we're gonna be talking about that restaurant in Las Vegas that was mentioned in Time magazine as one of the reasons that you should come to Las Vegas.
- 10:33Sean McAllister: It's called El Solito Posto.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: It's a great new Italian restaurant.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: We tried it out and we're gonna be talking about that coming up in our tips.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: And I'll also tell you about a really cool spot that we have talked about in the past and hadn't tried out yet, at the win Las Vegas, and how hard it is to get in coming up in our tips.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: Alright, let's talk about a bunch of shows.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: You and I went to two shows this week, just this week, actually.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: Uh the first one we went to see was a comedy special that was being shot, and it was uh took place at Notoriety Theater, which is just off Fremont Street in the Neanapolis.
- 11:09Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's up on the the third floor of uh that Neanapolis complex that's right there at Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 11:17Sean McAllister: You really can't miss it if you're walking around down there.
- 11:20Sean McAllister: The the Denny's is right there on the corner.
- 11:23Sean McAllister: So the Denny's is a big landmark.
- 11:25Sean McAllister: But yeah, it's a great uh theater spot, notoriety is, and it's where the comedian Vicki Barbalak decided that she was going to tape her comedy special.
- 11:36Dayna Roselli: Right, and you might know Vicky.
- 11:37Dayna Roselli: She's been on AGT, and you and I, Sean, have interviewed her through the years because she's done a lot of uh stand-up comedy here in town.
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: She was even a part of the Jimmy Kimmel comedy, and she had a show there, and now she wanted to record a special that was, you know, kind of like recorded from Las Vegas, and so you and I went, let's go see Vicki.
- 11:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, and we went and we got Trailer Nasty right along with Vicki Barbalak.
- 12:01Sean McAllister: And uh it was it was a fun show.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: And if you're wondering, if you're like, who is Vicky, what is trailer nasty?
- 12:07Dayna Roselli: Well, Vicky relates to growing up in a trailer park, and a lot of her comedy is directed at the I learned, you know what I learned, Sean?
- 12:15Dayna Roselli: I'm a trailer park nine.
- 12:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, yeah, you are.
- 12:19Dayna Roselli: She was so funny.
- 12:21Dayna Roselli: She was talking, so she like relates to all these different things, you know, and her funny joke at the end there where she talks about, you know what, take a really cheap vodka, pour it through the Brita, and you know, serve it in a in a high class bottle, and no one will know the difference.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: They'll think they're drink drinking Tito's.
- 12:36Dayna Roselli: I I'm I want to try that.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 12:38Dayna Roselli: So everyone's sitting there going laughing, but you're going, does that work?
- 12:43Dayna Roselli: She came out, she had her she had her dress on that she said she stole from AGT, joking around.
- 12:48Sean McAllister: It was her hot pink zebra dress.
- 12:50Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 12:50Sean McAllister: Man, that was a piece of fashion right there.
- 12:53Sean McAllister: Um, but we're in contact with Vicky, so we'll find out when she plans to air this comedy special, and we'll let you know.
- 13:00Sean McAllister: I I don't think those plans have been announced just yet, so we'll keep you posted on that.
- 13:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and when we say AGT, in case you're not familiar, that's the short term of America's Got Talent.
- 13:10Dayna Roselli: And we have told you in the past that America's Got Talent Las Vegas Live is coming to the Luxor, and kind of like Simon Cowell's little baby here, he's always really wanted to make this happen.
- 13:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, and now it is happening.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: As you mentioned, over at the Luxor, this is going to be a resident show that sticks around.
- 13:26Sean McAllister: We've seen the America's Got Talent tour that features the finalists of each season that goes around the country and always makes a stop here in Las Vegas.
- 13:36Sean McAllister: Um, but this is a resident show, and there's going to be a rotating roster of talent that comes through.
- 13:42Sean McAllister: But the very first lineup of uh the acts that are on the bill has just been announced.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: So season 12 finalist Preacher Lawson is actually gonna be the host.
- 13:54Dayna Roselli: So that's kind of cool.
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: And then season 15 champ, Brandon Leake, is gonna be in the opening cast when it premieres on November 12th.
- 14:02Dayna Roselli: So he's a stand-up comic, very, very funny.
- 14:05Dayna Roselli: If you watch America's Got Talent, I'm sure you've seen him.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: He was in season 12 and he was a finalist who appeared in the champions part.
- 14:13Sean McAllister: And there's also going to be uh singers and roller skating acts and acrobatic acts.
- 14:20Sean McAllister: It's gonna be a wide variety of entertainment that you get at America's Got Talent Las Vegas Live, which again premieres on November 12th here on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 14:30Dayna Roselli: And Jeff Dunham is returning to the Caesars Palace Coliseum.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: If you've never seen Jeff Dunham, he's really funny.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: I saw him, I think though, I saw him at Planet Hollywood, I want to say.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: Not that.
- 14:42Sean McAllister: That's where he had a show for years.
- 14:43Dayna Roselli: Yes, yes.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: He was really funny.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: He announced four new dates.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: So if you're interested in seeing Jeff Dunham, he uses the I never know what to call it because I do the same thing with uh Terry Fader.
- 14:52Dayna Roselli: The dummies.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: Well, the puppets.
- 14:55Sean McAllister: I think I think Jeff Dunham uses puppets.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: Terry Fader uses dummies.
- 15:00Dayna Roselli: Okay, got it.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: Well, that's what we think of.
- 15:03Sean McAllister: If you're into ventriloquism, I'm sure that there's like a major difference.
- 15:07Sean McAllister: And if you do know the difference, then let us know.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: Like tweet us, Instagram us, Facebook us, whatever.
- 15:13Sean McAllister: Tell us what the difference between a dummy and a puppet is.
- 15:15Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 15:16Sean McAllister: I feel like puppets are just squishy.
- 15:18Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 15:18Sean McAllister: And dummies have like hard maybe skin, outer shell.
- 15:22Sean McAllister: Could be.
- 15:23Sean McAllister: They don't have skin.
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: Jeff Dunham's funny though.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: And if you think about it, like some people are going, why do I want to go see this?
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: You know, it doesn't look like, you know, I'm an adult, but no, it's adult humor, very funny.
- 15:33Sean McAllister: Very adult humor.
- 15:33Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: Jeff Dunham is super talented.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: So if you're interested in that, go check that out.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: Also, MGM Resorts is going to debut this new Bud Light Beer Garden at Mandalay Bay.
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: And apparently it's like a premiere tailgate experience for the football games at Allegiant Stadium.
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: So it all packages in with football season starting here at the end of summer fall.
- 15:53Sean McAllister: Yeah, and uh the podcast today is dropping on August 14th on Saturday, and this is also the very first preseason game that the Raiders are going to be playing against the Seahawks over at Allegiance Stadium.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: And so the Bud Light uh beer garden is debuting over at Mandalay Bay where people can hang out before the games, get the whole you know, there's uh giant Jenga pieces, there's cornhole, lots of games that you can play.
- 16:21Sean McAllister: And then, as we've mentioned before, there's a bridge that goes over the 15 highway that connects Mandalay Bay over across the highway to Allegiant Stadium that's only open to pedestrian traffic on game days, so people will tailgate, then walk over the bridge to the game.
- 16:37Dayna Roselli: Good, because I mean the number one thing I've heard uh, you know, when people are talking about the Raiders games is like, where are we gonna tailgate?
- 16:43Dayna Roselli: Like, not even they don't even talk about the games.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: They're like, where are we going to pre-funk?
- 16:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: But I know tailgating is a huge, huge thing for uh Raider Nation.
- 16:52Sean McAllister: It is.
- 16:52Sean McAllister: And there are some of those remote lots that we've talked about uh that service Allegiance Stadium that are designated tailgate parking lots.
- 17:00Sean McAllister: Some of them are not.
- 17:02Sean McAllister: Tailgating is not allowed in some of them, so you know, before you go to a game, if you're planning on going to the to a game or to an event, make sure you check which of the parking lots is approved.
- 17:13Sean McAllister: But if you don't park, you can go to uh MGM Resorts, Mandalay Bay, and get in on their tailgate experience.
- 17:21Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk free.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: People love free shows, okay?
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: So here's something that's happening, and we're giving you a nice heads up.
- 17:28Dayna Roselli: It's on September 5th, which is a Sunday, and Three Doors Down is going to be performing with special guest Cedar at the Fremont Street Experience.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: So uh Three Doors Down, you know, has a bunch of hits, and I think people will really love to see them live, and it's free.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: And even though those concerts down on Fremont Street are free, they still get great bands and great entertainment down there.
- 17:50Sean McAllister: Three Doors Down, I mean, that was part of my jam back in the day, back in the you know, late 90s, early 2000s, Kryptonite was one of their big songs, and I think they're celebrating a big anniversary, aren't they?
- 18:02Dayna Roselli: They are.
- 18:03Dayna Roselli: So this is all part of this 20th anniversary tour of their debut album, which was called The Better Life.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: So they're doing it all this summer and we're on the stop.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: God, that was 20 years ago.
- 18:12Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 18:14Sean McAllister: That's your make you feel old moment of the week.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: It sure is.
- 18:17Sean McAllister: Jeez.
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: Now let's talk magic.
- 18:20Sean McAllister: Yes, let's.
- 18:22Sean McAllister: So uh Xavier Mortimer is a magician that we've talked about uh in past episodes here on Vegas Revealed.
- 18:28Sean McAllister: Uh all last year, during the pandemic, he was putting out videos on social media, on YouTube, that really caught traction.
- 18:36Sean McAllister: A lot of people were watching his illusion videos, and now he has a brand new show that uh just had its grand opening over at the Strat.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and you know what I love about the opening shows at the Strat is the parties always like way at the top of the strat, which is such a cool spot.
- 18:52Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 18:53Sean McAllister: The top of the strat, if you've not been up to, you know, level 108, there's uh a great lounge up there, there's the top of the world restaurant that's fabulous.
- 19:02Sean McAllister: Um, but it's a great spot to go just for happy hour or in the middle of the day to grab a drink and some snacks at night.
- 19:10Sean McAllister: It's a beautiful view, you can see the whole city.
- 19:12Sean McAllister: So, top of the strat is a great place to go, and that's where we had this grand opening party for Xavier Mortimer.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they had a red carpet there, they had uh food and some some light bites passed and some drinks, so that was fun.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: And we got to catch up with Xavier on the red carpet, and we were chatting with him about you know the year that he's had with these a lot of these videos going viral, but then he was telling us that he also was able to add some of those things that he did over the last year, year and a half online that you saw in video and put them into his new show at the strap.
- 19:45Dayna Roselli: We added like 25% of the show was new.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: It's a lot.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: It's a lot, because you have like and and also like you come on stage and you're used to do your thing, you know, and suddenly you do a new act and you're like, okay, where did okay, and that's that's really a big, big, big challenge to do something.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: It takes like twenty, thirty shows at least to get used to your new things, yeah.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: Well there are a lot of shows that have illusions in them.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: Obviously, Las Vegas has a lot of shows.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of listeners that come to Las Vegas and want to decide what I should do, what show should I go see.
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: So I'm gonna give you like a couple minutes to sell yourself.
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: Like, what sets you apart?
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: Well, come see us.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: It's a different magic show.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: All the illusions are original, everything that I do is different than what you've seen before in every magic show, and also there's a different approach in my magic.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: It's a lot about storytelling.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: There's not only magic, but there's also comedy, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: It's a complete show with a lot of things inside, and we're dragged into a world which is a dream world.
- 20:51Sean McAllister: And people obviously know that the strat is an iconic property here on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: How excited are you to be performing here at the Strat?
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: Well, it's uh it's a beautiful place.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: I I I enjoy the theater is amazing first, and they renovated the the whole hotel, which makes it like really beautiful, and here we are.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: I don't know if the listener cannot see it, but we're on top of the world now.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: We are, we are.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: Listen, congratulations.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: We're excited to go down and see the show.
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: We're gonna grab a drink and we expect to laugh and be amazed.
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: I know we will, I know we will.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: Well, enjoy the show.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for coming, guys.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: Do you like a French accent, Dana?
- 21:32Dayna Roselli: I mean, I don't mind it.
- 21:37Dayna Roselli: Oh gosh, love talking to Xavier.
- 21:39Dayna Roselli: His show.
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: We did go down, we watched the show, some pretty incredible illusions in there.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: If you love magic, you will love his show, and what an incredible theater at the Strat 2.
- 21:47Dayna Roselli: I do love that theater.
- 21:48Dayna Roselli: And when we left, there was a line of people to get into MJ Live, which was after that show.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: And yeah, that theater is great.
- 21:55Sean McAllister: I'm still trying to figure out how Xavier pulled off some of the illusions.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: That he did.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: I mean, he was like flying on stage.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: Right.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: He was like floating around, and I have no idea how he did it.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: There was a point where you and I looked at each other and went, what?
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: And I can't remember exactly what it was at this moment, uh, but we were pretty amazed.
- 22:15Sean McAllister: It was really good.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: A good show.
- 22:17Sean McAllister: It's a six o'clock show over at the Stret.
- 22:20Sean McAllister: So if uh you're interested, definitely go see that.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: It's a great family show, too.
- 22:24Sean McAllister: It is.
- 22:25Dayna Roselli: And if you're interested to see the video version of this interview, and we also asked him a few more questions, kind of an extra, we're putting that on our Vegas Revealed YouTube.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: You can also see our videos at Vegas-Revealed.com.
- 22:37Sean McAllister: All right, Dana, what do you say we get into our tips of the week?
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: Let's do it.
- 22:41Dayna Roselli: Mine have to do with two restaurants, okay?
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: And one of them was something that we did together, and it was that restaurant that we saw in that Time magazine article that pointed out for 2021, here are the like four reasons you need to come to Las Vegas.
- 22:55Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: And it made the list, and you and I went, What?
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: It's off the strip, it's at Tivoli Village, a great place in kind of like northwest of Las Vegas.
- 23:05Dayna Roselli: Not super far drive.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: I'd say about like 20 minutes from the strip.
- 23:09Dayna Roselli: It was our friend Melissa's birthday, and we went, where should we go?
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: We're like, let's go to El Salito Posto, okay?
- 23:14Dayna Roselli: Everyone's talking about this place.
- 23:16Dayna Roselli: It's uh, you know, open for dinner and it has a late night bar, okay?
- 23:19Dayna Roselli: So I don't think it's open for lunch.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: It opens, I think, at like 4.30.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: So we made reservations, which was tough to get, by the way.
- 23:27Dayna Roselli: Um, but we did get a 745 for six of us, and what a vibe.
- 23:32Dayna Roselli: First of all, like it's not a quiet restaurant because they have the open kitchen and everyone's kind of in one room, but I loved the energy.
- 23:40Sean McAllister: Oh, i I mean, everybody in there, you could tell, was just like in a good mood.
- 23:46Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 23:46Sean McAllister: And everyone was was chatting with people at their own table, but everyone was chatting and laughing, and we were certainly adding to that environment too.
- 23:56Dayna Roselli: Well, yeah, after a few drinks, especially.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: But it was Friday night, you know.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: We needed to get our cocktail on and uh celebrate Melissa.
- 24:03Dayna Roselli: But yes, and you know a couple things that I noticed that I loved round tables.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: When you have a big party, I hate the long tables because it's like you can't talk to everyone.
- 24:11Dayna Roselli: So love the round tables, everyone's facing each other.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: You can have a nice conversation, even if you have a larger party.
- 24:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:17Dayna Roselli: Then I love the service.
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: I mean, the woman who sat us was like telling us about the place, uh, let us know who our captain was, which was like our lead waiter.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: Uh, that was kind of fun.
- 24:28Dayna Roselli: And they were so attentive.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: The bread and the garlic oil thing that they brought out ahead of time was incredible.
- 24:36Sean McAllister: And we uh started off with some meatballs as an appetizer, and those, let me tell you, they were good.
- 24:43Sean McAllister: They were freaking phenomenal.
- 24:46Sean McAllister: They were and the the sauce, the gravy is what they called.
- 24:49Sean McAllister: The gravy, yes.
- 24:50Sean McAllister: The authentic gravy.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: My kind of place.
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: I think most of us had pastas because we were noticing on the menu it said that they it was like, you know, handmade homemade pasta.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: So we're like, we've all got to try it.
- 25:00Dayna Roselli: Um what did you have?
- 25:02Sean McAllister: I ended up having the mushroom risotto.
- 25:03Sean McAllister: Oh, that's right.
- 25:04Sean McAllister: Was that good?
- 25:04Sean McAllister: That was delicious.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Oh my god.
- 25:06Dayna Roselli: That yeah, that looked good now that I think about it.
- 25:09Dayna Roselli: Sorry, I had a memory.
- 25:11Sean McAllister: And I had the I had the extra parmesan grated out of the house.
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: Oh yes, yeah, that was good.
- 25:17Dayna Roselli: And the portions were not too big, not too small, perfect size.
- 25:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's not like one of those places where you go and you get like a two-bite-sized portion.
- 25:26Sean McAllister: This it was a good meal.
- 25:28Sean McAllister: It was a good meal size, but not so much where you're gonna leave like needing to be rolled out in a wheelbarrow.
- 25:34Sean McAllister: Right, exactly.
- 25:35Dayna Roselli: You know, when we got there like around 7.15, we were gonna just have a drink at the bar, but the bar was full.
- 25:40Dayna Roselli: And they said, like, the bar is full, you can't go in there, but we can seat you early and you can have drinks at your table.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: So I thought it was like great, but just you know, obviously another way to tell that people are really enjoying this restaurant.
- 25:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, and people were eating at the bar.
- 25:53Sean McAllister: They have full food service at the bar as well as cocktails too.
- 25:57Sean McAllister: So great, great spot.
- 25:59Sean McAllister: Highly recommend that.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: And so El Salito Posto, you can uh book reservations on Open Table, FYI, and you can see times and everything.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: Get it booked way ahead of time if you're coming to Las Vegas or if you live here and head over and check out that restaurant.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: We think you won't be disappointed.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: Another spot I went to the next day to celebrate a friend of mine's birthday, Kim Wagner, who's on Channel Three here.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: She's the morning show anchor.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: Uh, it was her birthday, and we had a group of ten ladies go out to Delilah Supper Club.
- 26:29Dayna Roselli: I was super excited to be able to try this out because I've been seeing the images, it looks absolutely gorgeous, and I just think supper clubs are fabulous, and I think more needed in Las Vegas.
- 26:40Dayna Roselli: We don't want too many, but I'm glad there's a second one.
- 26:42Dayna Roselli: We had Mayfair Supper Club.
- 26:44Sean McAllister: And Delilah is the newest supper club in Las Vegas, and it's turned out to be a super exclusive kind of uh environment.
- 26:53Sean McAllister: Justin Bieber was there doing a pop-up performance uh for the opening weekend.
- 26:59Sean McAllister: Macy Gray, and another incredible singer, was there uh just a few days ago doing a special performance.
- 27:06Sean McAllister: Andra Day, who was nominated for an Academy Award, she uh stopped by and performed there also as part of the opening.
- 27:14Sean McAllister: But I mean, this is the caliber of talent that when you do go and book at Delilah, uh that's the kind of talent that might be popping up while you're sitting there eating.
- 27:25Dayna Roselli: You never know.
- 27:26Dayna Roselli: It's true.
- 27:27Dayna Roselli: And and Melinda Sheckles, our friend Melinda, who who writes for Billboard and also works for uh gosh, so many places around town and covers Las Vegas, she actually set the reservation.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: She had been there before, but she was so courteous because there were ten of us, and she wanted to make sure that everyone who hadn't been there yet was facing where the stage was so we could see the show.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:46Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 27:47Dayna Roselli: If you get a table in the main room, um the show is either happening behind you if you're facing the other way and you have to turn, but you want to get that seat that faces the stage, and yeah, just you know, and it's funny because you know the music was great, and but like it in many ways it sticks out, but it also blends in.
- 28:05Dayna Roselli: So it's just kind of part of the whole experience, which was great.
- 28:09Dayna Roselli: The room is absolutely gorgeous.
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: When you first walk in, there's this little bar, you literally feel like you're in old Hollywood.
- 28:14Dayna Roselli: That's my best way to explain that.
- 28:16Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 28:17Dayna Roselli: There is a patio, but I met some uh friends in the elevator where I live that I saw there that night, they had the patio and they said they wish they would have sat inside.
- 28:25Dayna Roselli: So really, yeah, they they do because the main room with the music and everything like that.
- 28:30Sean McAllister: That's where the vibe was going on.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: So I'm just throwing out these is all part of tip.
- 28:34Dayna Roselli: So it you know, but if you love sitting outside, the patio is gorgeous.
- 28:37Dayna Roselli: But you know, it a tip is if you want to be inside where the show is and kind of the late night vibe, you want to be inside.
- 28:45Dayna Roselli: Here's another tip.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: You're probably not gonna get a reservation.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: So if you are coming within the year, book now.
- 28:52Dayna Roselli: The Delilah Supper Club is sold out like through November.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: Wow.
- 28:57Sean McAllister: Holy crap, November?
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: November.
- 28:59Dayna Roselli: So you've got to know someone to get in there.
- 29:01Dayna Roselli: And um luckily we know people, so I may have a reservation there on August 20th as well.
- 29:08Dayna Roselli: But this was the interesting part, Sean, is that I ran into so many people from Las Vegas inside there.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: Yes, it did not seem touristy when I was there.
- 29:19Dayna Roselli: We were running into so many people, and I think that people that live here were so excited for something new that everyone got their reservations in, or they know someone who said, like, come, you gotta see Delilah.
- 29:29Dayna Roselli: So a lot of familiar faces from Las Vegas.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: Obviously, there were visitors there, but I think still, because they've made it so exclusive, a lot of people may not know it's there yet.
- 29:41Sean McAllister: I was just gonna say, I wonder if Word hasn't like percolated out among the Vegas visitor group uh that Delilah is a new option.
- 29:52Sean McAllister: Right.
- 29:52Sean McAllister: So we're letting you know now.
- 29:53Sean McAllister: Delilah is new, it's open, super exclusive.
- 29:57Sean McAllister: Book way in advance.
- 29:58Dayna Roselli: Book way in advance.
- 30:00Dayna Roselli: One more thing, no pictures allowed inside.
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: It says it right on the menu, okay?
- 30:04Dayna Roselli: So they don't want, they want, you know, whoever wants to be there to be able to come in, feel comfortable.
- 30:09Dayna Roselli: They probably expect a lot of celebrities to show up, and they just said, you know what?
- 30:13Dayna Roselli: No pictures inside.
- 30:14Dayna Roselli: Take them outside, but not inside.
- 30:16Sean McAllister: You know, that's kind of nice though.
- 30:17Sean McAllister: It is.
- 30:18Sean McAllister: It really lets you be present and actually enjoy the experience that you're a part of.
- 30:23Sean McAllister: Right.
- 30:23Dayna Roselli: Uh, one thing on the menu you have to get is this macaroni and cheese.
- 30:27Dayna Roselli: It comes, it almost looks like a grilled cheese because it's browned on the outside.
- 30:31Dayna Roselli: Um, I was sitting next to Congresswoman Susie Lee.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: She was there that night, and we both were like, we're not gonna eat that because it's like super fattening.
- 30:39Dayna Roselli: We've already had a couple things we've dipped into.
- 30:41Dayna Roselli: And then she took, was like, let me try a little bit.
- 30:43Dayna Roselli: And she was like, This is like life.
- 30:46Dayna Roselli: And I took, we could not stop.
- 30:48Dayna Roselli: So we kept like trying to take a little, and then I'd be like, pass that over.
- 30:52Dayna Roselli: Give me more.
- 30:52Dayna Roselli: It was so good.
- 30:54Dayna Roselli: So, so good.
- 30:55Dayna Roselli: We also shared a burger because we were trying to be good, and that was delicious.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: The burger on the menu is amazing, but there's a whole menu of of great food, and I know everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: We had this like seafood tower to start, it was great.
- 31:08Sean McAllister: Oh, I can't wait to get over there and try it out.
- 31:10Sean McAllister: Uh, so my tip this week, Dana, if you have a whole boatload of cash that's just burning a hole in your pocket, boy, do we have a deal for you.
- 31:23Sean McAllister: So over at the Bellagio, uh, which is owned by MGM Resorts International, uh, they have quite the collection of Picasso paintings.
- 31:33Sean McAllister: Uh these paintings were uh brought into the MGM Resorts family by Steve Wynne, who originally opened the Mirage back in the day, and he is uh huge art collector, has had priceless pieces that he has incorporated into uh Las Vegas casino properties, and Steve Wynne is the reason that the Picasso restaurant over at Bellagio had original Picasso paintings hanging inside.
- 32:05Sean McAllister: Well, MGM Resorts has decided that now is the time that they are parting ways with eleven Picasso paintings.
- 32:16Sean McAllister: So they have employed Southerby's Auction House to do an auction live from the Bellagio.
- 32:24Sean McAllister: This is the first time that Sotherby's is doing an auction outside of its flagship location in New York City.
- 32:33Sean McAllister: So they're doing a remote auction from the Bellagio, auctioning off eleven works of art by Pablo Picasso.
- 32:42Sean McAllister: They're estimated at a hundred million dollars, Dana.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: Wow, okay.
- 32:47Dayna Roselli: So this is um, I see in your notes here, October 23rd.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: So even if you don't buy, it could be really interesting to go watch.
- 32:55Sean McAllister: Oh, absolutely.
- 32:56Sean McAllister: And so this will be online on the Sotherby's website, I'm sure, and you can go and preview the the works of art that are uh going up on the auction block, but it's not not every day when eleven Picasso's go up for sale.
- 33:12Sean McAllister: Um so if you do have the money, this could be the chance to uh start an art collection, add to your collection.
- 33:20Sean McAllister: I mean, starting a collection with a Picasso would be quite the way to start, wouldn't it?
- 33:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, everything everything would be down from there, right?
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: All right, I love it.
- 33:27Dayna Roselli: This is a great tip.
- 33:28Dayna Roselli: October 23rd, live auction at the Bellagio.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 33:33Sean McAllister: Alright, so that's our show for the week.
- 33:35Sean McAllister: But before we go, we do have a couple more things that we want to mention.
- 33:38Sean McAllister: We just got another review for the podcast this week.
- 33:42Sean McAllister: They really do help us to get out in front of uh new eyes and ears, and you know, we really do appreciate the insights that you leave when you do leave a review.
- 33:53Sean McAllister: Um, so if you can go on the the Apple Podcast app and leave us a review, let us know what you like about the podcast, what you'd like to hear on the podcast, that would be great, and we would really appreciate a review.
- 34:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, five stars, please, as well.
- 34:09Dayna Roselli: And if you don't like the podcast, please don't go leave us a review, okay?
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: We don't need any of those.
- 34:14Dayna Roselli: Uh yeah, so we appreciate it.
- 34:15Dayna Roselli: It makes us smile when we read the new reviews.
- 34:17Dayna Roselli: We love it.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: It's very exciting.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: Also, you can go to our show notes and we have a podcast donation link.
- 34:22Dayna Roselli: We also have merchandise available if you want to buy any of that.
- 34:25Dayna Roselli: And then something I wanted to mention: we have entertainment reports that run on Highway Radio, which is a radio station that is around Las Vegas, but also the main place that you'll probably hear it is when you're on the I-15, which is from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
- 34:41Dayna Roselli: A lot of people take that route back and forth when they visit Las Vegas.
- 34:44Dayna Roselli: It's one of the only stations you can get.
- 34:46Dayna Roselli: Sean and I do entertainment reports.
- 34:48Dayna Roselli: So we take portions of the podcast, we use pieces of our interviews, and we do the entertainment report weekly, and it runs throughout the day.
- 34:56Dayna Roselli: You can advertise with that, by the way.
- 34:58Dayna Roselli: Um, so we can put you in touch with folks at Highway Radio if you're looking for, you know, maybe sponsoring the entertainment report or you'd want to put a plug in about an event you have coming up.
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: Write us an email, ideas at vegas-revealed dot com, if you want to know how you can be a part of that.
- 35:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's a a lot of ears that highway radio uh captures coming to and from Las Vegas.
- 35:22Sean McAllister: So a great option uh for businesses of any size, really.
- 35:27Dayna Roselli: And one little plug for me, okay?
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: Um, I'm doing this thing where I have become a goalie gummy partner, and I know a lot of people love these goalie gummies.
- 35:37Dayna Roselli: There's the apple cider ones, the ashawa, the superfruits.
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: People buy them anyway.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: Goalie approach me.
- 35:43Dayna Roselli: I'm not an influencer of any sort, but they did approach me and say, Do you want to help push this product?
- 35:48Dayna Roselli: And we'll give all your friends and family and followers a big discount if they purchase.
- 35:53Dayna Roselli: So I thought, well, yeah, if I can get everyone discounts.
- 35:56Dayna Roselli: Been getting a lot of purchases because people like to order the bundles.
- 35:59Dayna Roselli: So if you're interested in the gummies, just use code Dana Roselli, D-A-Y-N-A-R-O-S-E-L-L-I.
- 36:06Dayna Roselli: Right now, there's 20% off and free shipping through August 31st.
- 36:11Dayna Roselli: So if you purchase those anyways, take advantage of my code.
- 36:14Dayna Roselli: I just do it so that everyone can get a discount.
- 36:16Sean McAllister: And I've been taking advantage of the discount.
- 36:18Sean McAllister: I just got two new bottles.
- 36:20Dayna Roselli: And you were saying you feel happy and you had good sleep the other night, right?
- 36:23Sean McAllister: I do.
- 36:23Sean McAllister: It's great.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: And there's tons of great vitamins in there.
- 36:26Dayna Roselli: It's just good for you overall, and they taste good.
- 36:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, they taste great.
- 36:29Sean McAllister: They really are.
- 36:30Dayna Roselli: They're not actually too, too expensive.
- 36:31Dayna Roselli: You know, it's not crazy, especially with the discount.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: That's what I like.
- 36:34Sean McAllister: Well, especially considering it makes you feel really good.
- 36:37Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 36:38Dayna Roselli: So there's my goalie gummy plug, okay, folks.
- 36:40Dayna Roselli: That's a wrap.
- 36:42Sean McAllister: That is it for episode 81.
- 36:44Sean McAllister: Next week on Vegas Revealed, we're gonna be talking with a show producer here in Las Vegas who's responsible for a lot of shows up and down the Las Vegas strip.
