- 0:00Charles Marino: You, can't do it.
- 0:01It, the, two are contradictory.
- 0:04The, very policies of sanctuary cities.
- 0:08Not only endanger those in the community and, the country at large,
- 0:14But they, also undercut law enforcement at all levels each and every day.
- 0:19So they really defy common sense.
- 0:22So when you hear a Governor Walz, or a Mayor Frey of Minneapolis, or even the
- 0:28Attorney General from there stand up and say that they agree with the Department
- 0:32Of Homeland Security when it comes to prioritizing public safety is just.
- 0:37Outright ridiculous, and disingenuous and an insult to really everybody.
- 0:53Craig Floyd: You know, every year we have the Attorney General speak and we also
- 0:57Have the Secretary of Homeland Security speak, and that's because of Chuck Marino.
- 1:02He was working for Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.
- 1:05He called me up one day and he said, Craig, I love that you have the ag speak
- 1:08At your candlelight vigil, but what about the Secretary of Homeland Security?
- 1:12Huh?
- 1:13And a little respect there.
- 1:14And, Uh, we've been doing it ever since.
- 1:17It's a tradition that continues thanks to this gentleman.
- 1:19So,
- 1:27Dennis Collins: You know, Chuck, you said something I don't wanna miss here because
- 1:30You mentioned Obama administration, that's where you were serving at the DHS.
- 1:36Okay.
- 1:38What about these sanctuary cities?
- 1:39Mm-hmm.
- 1:40You know, they existed during the Obama administration and here, and
- 1:44I, you know, I'm listening to all the chatter and here's what I'm
- 1:47Hearing, and I'd love your opinion.
- 1:49Number one, how did Obama's administration handle those?
- 1:52And number two, is that your view that the sanctuary cities are
- 1:57At the very heart of this mess?
- 2:00Charles Marino: You can't say that you are a sanctuary city and then
- 2:05Also say you prioritize public safety.
- 2:08The difference is, you're right, sanctuary cities have existed for a long time.
- 2:14The Obama administration did have to deal with sanctuary cities while they
- 2:19Were doing the same things that the Trump administration is doing right now.
- 2:23Um, the difference is those communities, while they still prevented
- 2:27State and local law enforcement from working collaboratively with
- 2:31Federal officials, they did not incite and they did not obstruct.
- 2:38That's what we see now.
- 2:40Now we see politicians playing an active role.
- 2:45In literally creating a more dangerous environment and totally abandoning
- 2:51Not only their state and local responsibilities like dealing with
- 2:55Protestors, but also obstructing federal agents at every step they can.
- 3:01Uh, and then you've got the courts, which are different, which we didn't have to
- 3:04Deal with during the Obama administration.
- 3:07Uh, and that was, you now have activist judges.
- 3:10Within these sanctuary districts that also try and do everything
- 3:15They can to slow down the process.
- 3:17And oh, by the way, those courts don't have a very good batting average
- 3:21When it comes to being overturned.
- 3:24The Trump administration up to and including last, late last
- 3:28Week, Uh, Minnesota had filed to stop the federal operations.
- 3:34Dennis Collins: Yes.
- 3:35Charles Marino: Yeah.
- 3:35And, and they were overruled.
- 3:37Absolutely.
- 3:37Uh, a, a lower court had agreed with them, and a higher court, said,
- 3:41No, you can't have a state that is now impeding federal operations,
- 3:46No matter how much you hate it.
- 3:49Dennis Collins: Chuck and I'm glad you you brought that up because Heroes
- 3:53Behind the Badge and Citizens Behind the Badge are sponsoring organization.
- 3:58We're all about supporting law enforcement.
- 4:00That's what we do.
- 4:02We are about the men and women of law enforcement.
- 4:04So put yourself back in your shoes as law enforcement officer and put yourself
- 4:09In the shoes of today's law enforcement officers who are trying to enforce laws.
- 4:16That are being challenged.
- 4:19How do they feel with the, venom and the toxicity that's being spewed out there?
- 4:25What's inside the head of the law enforcement officers?
- 4:28Charles Marino: Well, at the federal level, I can tell you
- 4:31That morale's never been higher.
- 4:33From what I hear within ICE and CBP, because let's remember, they're
- 4:38Coming off of four years of not being allowed to do their jobs.
- 4:42Yeah, good point.
- 4:43And, and if you look at the statistics, if you look purely at the metrics of success.
- 4:50Look at those border numbers.
- 4:53You know, previous secretaries used to think that, anything a
- 4:58Thousand, encounters on the Southwest border or higher was a crisis,
- 5:05Dennis Collins: Right?
- 5:05Charles Marino: I mean, we're down at single digits.
- 5:08Zero, zero releases into the country.
- 5:13So that means if you're here illegally, you come up with a claim of amnesty, or,
- 5:19Uh, asylum, Uh, rather then that you were, you, historically you were released into
- 5:25The country until your asylum hearing.
- 5:28And, and that's been stopped.
- 5:30Uh, that was a loophole that's been stopped.
- 5:33So, but I, I gotta tell you, I think the goal.
- 5:37From at least Minnesota has been, to make the job of ICE and CBP as hard
- 5:46And as publicly messy as possible.
- 5:49That's why I think what President Trump said.
- 5:53Over the weekend, Uh, was genius and that is they got sucked in having ICE
- 5:59And CBP, Uh, dealing with protestors.
- 6:03No, don't do that.
- 6:05That's not their job.
- 6:06If they know the law enforcement's abandoning you, then why are you picking
- 6:10Up responsibility and doing their jobs?
- 6:13Which by the way, is gonna be the messiest part.
- 6:17Dennis Collins: Yeah.
- 6:17Bill Erfurth: Yeah, that's a great a hundred percent.
- 6:18And I want to, I want to go back to, Uh, to what you said, which is probably
- 6:23Going to be a surprise or a shocker to some people about the morale and
- 6:27The Feds being so high at the moment.
- 6:29But quite frankly, you know, law enforcement expects to be shit on, expects
- 6:35To have all kinds of problems with the scum of the earth that they're dealing
- 6:38With out on the streets and whatnot.
- 6:39But, you know, the biggest problem with morale generally is.
- 6:43Internal, and it's how you're treated internally by the bosses.
- 6:47Any number of of political things that affects you from the inside.
- 6:51With the Trump administration support of federal law enforcement across the board
- 6:56Right now, it's gotta be a huge boom, Uh, for the federal law enforcement officers.
- 7:02And, and Chuck, maybe you can just expound on this a little
- 7:04Bit, was my understanding.
- 7:06I heard that there was something like 10,000 applications, Uh, that had come in.
- 7:12To, Uh, DHS since Trump took office.
- 7:16Charles Marino: Well, yeah, and, the other thing is the old saying, you
- 7:19Know, don't tell me what you value.
- 7:21Show me your budget and I'll tell you what you value.
- 7:24Look at the money.
- 7:26That CBP and ICE have received under the big beautiful bill.
- 7:31Which is funny because we've got this, partial shutdown right now
- 7:35Because of DHS Democrats say, and because of the operations of ICE.
- 7:40But this partial shutdown doesn't hurt ICE in any.
- 7:43Way at all, nor does it hurt CBP because they are so plush with cash
- 7:49From that big, beautiful bill that operations are gonna continue unimpeded.
- 7:54And oh, by the way, all of those employees are gonna continue showing up
- 7:58To work during any type of a shutdown because they're essential personnel.
- 8:02And so not only are they gonna keep showing up and doing the job,
- 8:05They're also gonna be back paid.
- 8:08And so this isn't having the effect that Democrats think,
- 8:11Uh, it would on law enforcement.
- 8:14But yeah, no, look, the morale is important.
- 8:16The applications are through the roof and they're being allowed to do their
- 8:21Jobs, and people like to see results and you know, that's what they're saying.
- 8:26Bill Erfurth: Maybe you can expound a little bit because there's been a
- 8:28Narrative going around, especially in the liberal media, about the fact
- 8:32That these folks that are now coming out of the academy working for the
- 8:36Feds are not sufficiently trained.
- 8:39What say you.
- 8:41Charles Marino: Yeah, I mean, they're going through the same type of training.
- 8:46It is not abbreviated, but I would say all of the agencies, throughout DHS have taken
- 8:55A hard look over the years at training.
- 8:58And can it be consolidated in certain areas?
- 9:02And I think, of course, the answer is yes.
- 9:05They're doing it to save money.
- 9:07They're doing it to get.
- 9:08Agents operational out onto the streets a little bit sooner.
- 9:13But as far as the context in which the perceived lack of training being put forth
- 9:20By Democrats, is, it's not happening.
- 9:25They're still going through adequate and ample use of force training.
- 9:30They're still going through ample firearms training.
- 9:33You know, let's not forget too many of these.
- 9:36Folks are also coming from previous law enforcement careers at the state and
- 9:41Local level, or the military, and so there are no strangers to use of force policy.
- 9:47There are no strangers to handling firearms, and so I think that's
- 9:52Just a bunch of nonsense, but it goes to the overall narrative.
- 9:56The Democrats wanna play, right?
- 9:58They're outta control.
- 9:59Uh, this is messy.
- 10:01There's no, for forethought given to this, and they're just throwing agents out onto
- 10:06The street to execute this operations.
- 10:09When in all reality, Tom Homan and Kristi Noem were always honest with
- 10:14Sanctuary cities, and they said, less, the less you cooperate the more agents
- 10:21You're gonna see in your communities.
- 10:24Craig Floyd: Chuck one.
- 10:25One of the things that bothers me most about what's happening in Minneapolis
- 10:29Is ICE agents have become the enemy.
- 10:32All right.
- 10:33Governor Tim Walz, the Governor in Minnesota has said We are at war.
- 10:38Basically he's declaring war between the citizens of Minnesota
- 10:43And the ICE agents that are there.
- 10:45Now here's the problem, ICE agents don't set policy, alright?
- 10:50They're not the political leaders that tell them what to do or where to go.
- 10:54They have a job to do to protect this nation, to provide national
- 10:58Security, and peace, hopefully in the streets of America.
- 11:02But in Minneapolis, that's not happening.
- 11:04That the people have basically.
- 11:06Um, going to war against ICE Agents and I I, I'd love your comment on that.
- 11:11I mean, you served as a Secret Service agent for many years.
- 11:15You served at the Department of, Homeland Security for many years.
- 11:19Uh.
- 11:21And yet ICE agents all of a sudden are the enemy.
- 11:24The officers who are trying to enforce the laws of this country in a lawful
- 11:28Manner, Uh, have become the enemy.
- 11:30And this is frustrating to me because you can protest the policies.
- 11:35You, you may not like a particular law.
- 11:38You can vote out those legislators that enacted those laws,
- 11:42But it's not the ICE agents.
- 11:45That are setting policy or deciding, Uh, where to go and how to do their job.
- 11:50They're just out there.
- 11:51They've been told what to do, they're doing it, and frankly, it's a very
- 11:55Difficult job, a very dangerous job.
- 11:58Uh, your comment.
- 12:00Charles Marino: Well, you know, it's pretty interesting that sanctuary
- 12:02Cities in general are going after law enforcement, ICE agents and
- 12:07CBP agents the way that they are.
- 12:10Typically politics used to stay exactly there, right?
- 12:14Aim, your aim, your rhetoric at the, you know, the head of the executive branch,
- 12:19The president of the United States.
- 12:20But I'll take it another step further.
- 12:22You know what's interesting?
- 12:23You never hear come out of somebody like Governor Walz's mouth.
- 12:27Is the role that Congress plays here.
- 12:29I mean, to your point, this is a no-brainer.
- 12:33Congress passes the laws and the executive branch ICE and CBP enforce them,
- 12:39And, all the way up to the president.
- 12:41The president's, right when he says, look, it's my job to enforce the laws.
- 12:46You've heard Barack Obama say the same thing.
- 12:49It's not my job to choose between right and wrong and what laws I'm going to
- 12:54Enforce on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and what laws I'm not gonna
- 12:58Enforce on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- 13:00That's not the way it works.
- 13:02My job is to enforce the laws that are on the books and this is what I'm gonna do.
- 13:08To, to, for a politician to take issue with the men and women, Uh, that are doing
- 13:15Jobs that are much, much more dangerous.
- 13:18Than theirs.
- 13:20You know, which is why it always amuses me when they incite all this rhetoric
- 13:24Usually standing behind their gates in their house, which are being protected
- 13:29By guess who law enforcement and, you know, but yet they throw these arrows
- 13:34And it makes the job much more dangerous.
- 13:38As a law enforcement officer, it's infuriating.
- 13:42Because you've got things like dosing going on that's giving up
- 13:46Not only the personal information of the agents, but also the families.
- 13:50It's endangering, you know, their kids.
- 13:53Uh, and it's a gross misrepresentation of what they're doing when you really,
- 13:58If you're staying honest about it, when you look at the totality of threats
- 14:02That were allowed into the country.
- 14:04From 180 different countries that were encountered many special interest
- 14:08Locations that no matter how much Biden and Mayorkas said they were vetted,
- 14:13There's no feasible way to thoroughly vet these people coming from these locations.
- 14:19'cause there's no systems to vet against.
- 14:22So when you think about the threats in that totality, why aren't these sanctuary
- 14:26Politicians taking issues with Congress?
- 14:29I, Democrat, you know, we including Democrats,
- 14:31Bill Erfurth: Just clowns.
- 14:32They're, these people are clowns.
- 14:33You know, you talk about Mayorkas, my God, Mayorkas was just a pathetic liar.
- 14:39How could you boldface get in front of I, I, I hope to see that
- 14:43They do something about this.
- 14:44But you know, as we're harping on Minnesota, I've got some statistics here.
- 14:50You know, there's 1,370 detainers in Minnesota.
- 14:58Those are illegals, criminals that are being held in the jails.
- 15:04We should talk a little bit about that because I don't think they're
- 15:07Talking about this on mainstream media.
- 15:09The fact of the matter is if these sanctuary cities were just cooperating
- 15:15And allowing law enforcement to go into the jails, I hear Homan say this.
- 15:20I hear a number of people say this.
- 15:22It takes one or two agents to go into the jail.
- 15:25It's a peaceful transfer.
- 15:26Mm-hmm.
- 15:26There's not gonna be violence.
- 15:28Everybody's protected.
- 15:29You're in the security of the jail versus sending a team out to go get these guys.
- 15:34Chuck, maybe talk a little bit about the dynamics of that.
- 15:38Charles Marino: Yeah, well that was the point You just hit on
- 15:40The number of detainers, Uh, that are not being honored statewide.
- 15:46And this goes to part of the strategy, which by the way, was also the
- 15:51Strategy of the Obama administration.
- 15:53Uh, we used to have a program called 287(g), Uh, which was called Secure
- 15:59Communities, where you started deputizing state and local law enforcement, Uh,
- 16:03To enforce immigration law, to kind of be a force multiplier for ICE.
- 16:10But yet, you're right.
- 16:11And this is, to my earlier point about creating a a lot
- 16:16Safer environment for everybody.
- 16:19A lot less messy when you allow ICE agents into the jails.
- 16:24When you have those immigration detainers being honored, not just by
- 16:28The state, but also at the local levels.
- 16:31They're the majority, when it comes to controlling all of these jails, right?
- 16:37And also allowing state and local law enforcement to
- 16:40Cooperate with ICE and CBP now.
- 16:43I think the administration would tell you be the first to tell you that
- 16:47They're not expecting state and locals in Minnesota to help them enforce immigration
- 16:53Law because of the sanctuary policy.
- 16:56But what they are doing is they're expecting them to show up if ICE
- 17:00Agents, Uh, become over, over, Uh.
- 17:03Burdened.
- 17:04Overwhelmed.
- 17:05Yes.
- 17:05Yeah.
- 17:05Overwhelmed by these protests.
- 17:08Or There's a public safety issue with ICE agents and they expect
- 17:12Them to share intelligence.
- 17:14Hey, share intelligence.
- 17:16Dennis Collins: I, I wanna, I, you made a, a very important point here about, what
- 17:21Is needed, the cooperation that's needed between the feds and the local and states.
- 17:26Let's, go back to Tom Homan.
- 17:29I, I thought Homan made a world class a masterclass speech last week
- 17:34On the solutions to this problem.
- 17:37One of his solutions is that if indeed the city.
- 17:43State governments of Minnesota will allow him and his agents to go into
- 17:48These jails and pick up these people without, a protest or violence that
- 17:54He will consider moving out some of the troops, some of the, Uh, the, Uh,
- 17:58ICE agents and border patrol people.
- 18:01Give us some thoughts on what Homan said.
- 18:04Do you think?
- 18:05It's gonna hold, you know, he claims that they gave him some agreement, but then
- 18:10Some of the rhetoric after that speech he gave seemed to kind of go backwards.
- 18:14But what, what is your, what your thoughts.
- 18:17Charles Marino: Sanctuary cities have a very bad habit of not keeping promises.
- 18:21Just think about the promise that Eric Adams made in New York to Tom Homan
- 18:26To his face about letting ICE agents in the Rikers and it never happened.
- 18:31Yeah.
- 18:31Uh, and that was at the beginning of the administration when Eric
- 18:34Adams was found himself, at odds.
- 18:37With the White House and, and a at, Uh, at odds with the Democratic party.
- 18:43So, they never let 'em into Rikers Island.
- 18:46And that's indicative of how sanctuary cities, make and
- 18:50Then don't keep, keep promises.
- 18:52But you're right.
- 18:54Every action has a reaction.
- 18:56And I think here, if you put the action on the city and of Minneapolis and Minnesota.
- 19:02If they were to do the right thing, then that allows, Uh, Tom Homan, Uh,
- 19:08And Kristi Noem to rightsize operations.
- 19:12Uh, that is to look at the numbers and say, do we need to hit the streets
- 19:17The way we've been hitting them, as hard as we've been hitting them,
- 19:20Because we're getting no help at all.
- 19:23And I think the answer is they'd rather.
- 19:25Decrease those numbers on the street.
- 19:28They'd rather it be a lot safer.
- 19:30They'd rather have less interactions with the general public as they're
- 19:35Looking for these, Uh, national security threats throughout the city.
- 19:40But let's face it, I mean, sanctuary cities are where you have to go.
- 19:45Where you have to stay when you're looking for all these threats
- 19:48That came into the country.
- 19:50I mean, this is where they're being harbored.
- 19:52This is where they're being protected.
- 19:55This is where they're being released over and over, back out onto the
- 19:59Streets to commit more crimes.
- 20:02From a strategic standpoint on the, from the side of ICE and CBP sanctuary, cities
- 20:08Are the natural place you need to go.
- 20:11Craig Floyd: Isn't that, you know, Minneapolis Absolutely problem.
- 20:14Go ahead.
- 20:14Go ahead.
- 20:15The citizens of Minneapolis, they, they don't seem to appreciate the
- 20:19Fact that ICE agents are there in their city trying to rid them of
- 20:25These serious, Uh, criminals Yeah.
- 20:27That have come in from, Uh, foreign countries illegally.
- 20:31And ICE agents are doing them a favor by, Uh, making their city safer if they
- 20:37Let them do their job and do it safely.
- 20:39I think you make a great point that if, if they got the cooperation
- 20:44From the locals, they wouldn't, put themselves at such great risk.
- 20:48The ICE agents, all right.
- 20:50Right.
- 20:50They are being, Uh, rocks are being thrown at them.
- 20:54People are coming to protest with guns.
- 20:57I mean, we saw that with Preti.
- 20:58Uh, not a smart thing to do and, and unfortunately.
- 21:01Late, he tragically lost his life.
- 21:03I mean, this is what, I think, upsets me that there's a lot of ignorance out there,
- 21:09Especially in the sanctuary cities about why ICE agents are trying to do a job to
- 21:15Help them and keep their community safer.
- 21:19Bill Erfurth: I, I wanna just expound on that.
- 21:21I think that there's a lot of ignorant people that are out there protesting
- 21:24In Minneapolis, but I think it's far deeper than this, the dynamic
- 21:27When we're talking about sanctuary cities, I think Minneapolis is way
- 21:32Different than a lot of places.
- 21:33And why it is right now is because they're trying to distract.
- 21:39Look at this shiny object over here.
- 21:42Don't focus so much on all this fraud that's going on.
- 21:46And I think people like tampon, Tim and the, and the emasculated
- 21:51Putts, it's the mayor there.
- 21:52Mm-hmm.
- 21:53And the lap dog, police chief, and all those people,
- 21:55They're going along with this.
- 21:57They're encouraging all of this.
- 21:59Anarchy to take place because it's, it's taking away that focus because
- 22:04Before all this happened, it was all about the amount of fraud that
- 22:11Was going on in Minneapolis and now they're not talking about it as much.
- 22:15Charles Marino: This is definitely a diversionary tactic.
- 22:18For sure.
- 22:18There, there's no, there's no doubt about it.
- 22:20The more they can talk about ICE and CBP and, and, you know, the perceived
- 22:26Mess that this is causing in their community, the less they're talking
- 22:30About that fraud, which is in the billions and we'll probably be one of
- 22:36The biggest stories and, and, and, Uh, crimes of fraud to ever hit this country.
- 22:43It'll make the COVID fraud look like, it was nothing.
- 22:48But look, this is what happens when you have politicians that not only
- 22:54Wanna enrich themselves, but also, wanna prioritize those that shouldn't
- 23:00Be in the country in the first place, believe they're entitled to Absolutely.
- 23:04Everything, Uh, that would traditionally go to the American public first for those,
- 23:10Uh, for those that are truly in need.
- 23:12But no, you're, look, you're right.
- 23:15I mean, it's just, it's irresponsible.
- 23:19In some cases we're gonna find it's criminal.
- 23:22And let's remember we keep talking about the protests.
- 23:24Yeah.
- 23:25There's some local organic groups that are protesting.
- 23:28And you know what?
- 23:29They're probably peaceful, but it's these, it's the outside organized
- 23:33Groups that you're gonna find a lot of democratic money behind.
- 23:37You're gonna find foreign influence, typically from an adversary, Uh,
- 23:42To fund and organize these groups that historically come from outside
- 23:46Of the area, have no interest.
- 23:49And oh, by the way.
- 23:50If this weren't a protest about immigration but was a protest of the
- 23:54Middle East, you would see the same people showing up for the same protests and they
- 23:59Have no idea what they're doing there.
- 24:01They couldn't explain the issues to you.
- 24:03They have no, they have, yeah, they have no thought, thoughts on this, that
- 24:07We would consider well thought out.
- 24:10And so that's what they do.
- 24:11They come in, they cause turmoil.
- 24:13We saw it in 2020.
- 24:16When Minneapolis burned, when they walked away from police
- 24:20Departments and gave up those cities.
- 24:22So this really is.
- 24:24On the side of the Democrats, I think another black eye for them amongst
- 24:31The voting population that are law abiding, that are supporters of law
- 24:36Enforcement like we all are, and wanna see the laws of this country enforced.
- 24:42Craig Floyd: Chuck what, Uh, the Philadelphia Sheriff the other day, Um,
- 24:48Called the ICE agents, wannabe cops, basically acting as if they, they didn't
- 24:54Really have law enforcement status.
- 24:56They weren't properly trained.
- 24:58Uh, she even threatened to arrest ICE agents if they came into the city of
- 25:02Philadelphia, which was outrageous.
- 25:06I, I thank you as much as anybody.
- 25:08Former Secret Service agent served at the Department of Homeland Security.
- 25:12I think you have a, a great understanding and appreciation for the job.
- 25:17ICE agents do the training, they have the, importance to this country.
- 25:22I'd like you to comment on that.
- 25:23Charles Marino: Yeah.
- 25:24Well, I gotta tell you, I, I would, and, and I've heard that sheriff
- 25:28In Philadelphia, I've heard what she's had to say now, quite a few
- 25:33Times and I'd love to know where the National Sheriff's Association is.
- 25:39With her.
- 25:40Really, whatever.
- 25:41Whatever happened to the days of picking up the phone and telling
- 25:45Somebody to shut up that they were embarrassing the profession.
- 25:50What?
- 25:50That's See?
- 25:51Yeah, that's a good point.
- 25:52See, that's part of the problem.
- 25:54Dennis Collins: Maybe they're listening.
- 25:55Charles Marino: That's part of the problem.
- 25:57I hope they are.
- 25:58And look, yeah, it goes for major city chiefs.
- 26:00It goes for the IACP.
- 26:03Where are you?
- 26:03You got this?
- 26:04LA I think Craig, you called the list this chief, the lap
- 26:07Dog, out in, Uh, Minneapolis.
- 26:11Where's major City Chiefs calling this guy up and saying, what?
- 26:15Is there something wrong with you?
- 26:18I couldn't
- 26:18Bill Erfurth: Be more on target about that.
- 26:21The lack of, of leadership, the lack of balls, you know, stand up for the
- 26:28Troops, stand up, do the right thing.
- 26:31It's shocking that people are so worried about hurting somebody's feelings.
- 26:37Bullshit.
- 26:37You know, you've just gotta be, we were talking about this the other day.
- 26:42Dumbing of America.
- 26:44It's almost like the dumbing of law enforcement.
- 26:47You've got some of these DEI hires that are leading agencies that are dumber than
- 26:53Rocks, and they are an embarrassment.
- 26:56Yeah.
- 26:56And they need to be challenged.
- 26:58Charles Marino: Yeah.
- 26:58And ultimately, look, I mean, it's, it's a problem that only the people
- 27:03Can solve in those communities because they're the ones that are voting.
- 27:07You're the voters for this.
- 27:10And so, ultimately you gotta, you gotta look at it almost at
- 27:14The, you know, the micro level.
- 27:16And you gotta say, well look who's ultimately to blame for this?
- 27:19We, you know, did the v were the voters not able to tell?
- 27:22What this person was going to do and what they were gonna prioritize and,
- 27:28And and so, but yeah, I think, look, I think sometimes somebody needs to pick
- 27:34Up the phone and say, enough is enough.
- 27:39You are killing us as sheriffs around this country.
- 27:43Yeah.
- 27:43And this is not what we do and this is not what we say.
- 27:48And we certainly don't talk about arresting.
- 27:51Uh, yeah.
- 27:52I'm sure other, other law enforcement officers when
- 27:56They're legally doing their jobs.
- 27:59Dennis Collins: Exactly.
- 28:00Charles Marino: Exactly.
- 28:01That's key.
- 28:01The, these guy, these, these men and women are doing the jobs according to the
- 28:07Laws and to their statutory authorities.
- 28:11Dennis Collins: So, Chuck, you're the founder and CEO of your very own, Uh,
- 28:15Global security firm called Sentinel.
- 28:18Bill Erfurth: Yes.
- 28:19Dennis Collins: And, Uh, so you are, after your life, after Secret Service
- 28:23Involves, Uh, some very high level.
- 28:26Security and, Uh, intelligence advisory jobs.
- 28:30Bill Erfurth: Yes.
- 28:30Dennis Collins: I would love your input as a CEO, as a leader, as a security
- 28:37And intelligence leader in this country.
- 28:41If you were in charge, if all of a sudden they called up and say, Chuck,
- 28:44Take over this mess and fix it.
- 28:47Give us Chuck's solution to this mess that's going on up in Minneapolis.
- 28:54Charles Marino: It goes well beyond Minneapolis, right?
- 28:56Minneapolis is one of the things.
- 28:58First thing that I've spoken about extensively is there is no
- 29:03Way that federal taxpayers should still be funding sanctuary cities.
- 29:10Especially when we talk about, as Craig knows very well, especially
- 29:15When we talk about all of these public safety grants that come from
- 29:18DHS and the Department of Justice.
- 29:21I mean, we're talking about billions and billions of dollars.
- 29:25I mean, you look at New York City alone, it's almost a billion
- 29:29Dollars in terms of all the types of aid that they get, Uh, to help.
- 29:34Public safety, implement public safety policies and Uh, and terrorism prevention.
- 29:40So why, again, if you have a city, Uh, that does not believe in enforcing any
- 29:46Part of the law, and as much as we used to say that Homeland Security begins with
- 29:51Home town security and you have hometowns within sanctuary states that do nothing
- 29:58To move forward public safety, why do we consider continue to reward this?
- 30:04And consider this to be successful policies.
- 30:09And so the first thing is you gotta use the power of the purse.
- 30:13And I don't think to date that the Trump administration has exhausted that, Uh, as,
- 30:19As much as they could through the courts.
- 30:22Bill Erfurth: Yeah, I think that was challenged, wasn't it?
- 30:25I think it was.
- 30:26I think they tried to do that.
- 30:27It got challenged in court, and then I just saw this week that there was some
- 30:31Senator or congressman that actually was talking about legislation to
- 30:37Charles Marino: Lindsey Graham.
- 30:38Dennis Collins: Lindsey Graham.
- 30:39Yeah, yeah,
- 30:39Charles Marino: Exactly.
- 30:40Yeah.
- 30:41But you're, you're right.
- 30:42But you've gotta exhaust the court system.
- 30:46Because if you look at the cases that have gone to the Supreme Court,
- 30:50That's another area that the Trump administration's done very well.
- 30:54Um, I think they've only taken one or two losses in the Supreme Court and all
- 30:59These other cases, Uh, they have won.
- 31:02When it comes to, when it comes to immigration, I love what the
- 31:06Administration is doing, in terms of this multifaceted approach.
- 31:11You know, you've gotta deal with the, your own hemisphere, the western hemisphere.
- 31:16You've gotta deal with places like Venezuela and Mexico and Colombia.
- 31:20You got, I, I was a, a firm believer in, Uh, designating the cartels
- 31:27And these violent gangs as, Uh, foreign terrorist organizations.
- 31:31Yep.
- 31:32It gives the executive branch a lot more authorities when
- 31:37It comes to going after them.
- 31:39And I like what we're doing here with the, with our own border.
- 31:43This is a walk and chew gum strategy.
- 31:45It had to be.
- 31:47And I think when you look at this.
- 31:50This strategic approach holistically by the Trump administration.
- 31:55You see that they're hitting all of the areas that they need to, Uh, right now.
- 32:01And the numbers, again, back to the numbers.
- 32:03Look at fentanyl.
- 32:05Fentanyl is dropping.
- 32:07Look at, Uh, the drug, Uh, the movement of drugs on the waterway
- 32:11Is coming from Venezuela.
- 32:14That's down 97%.
- 32:16I know, by the way.
- 32:17That's not, not only impacting drugs that are leaving Venezuela, it's drugs
- 32:22That are coming via the waterways through other locations as well too.
- 32:26I think there's still room to get a lot tougher with Mexico.
- 32:30Uh, Mexico is something I've paid attention to for a very, very long time.
- 32:36The level of corruption and fear and intimidation.
- 32:40Look, when you've got the cartels as the third largest employer
- 32:44In the country, that's not good.
- 32:46Dennis Collins: Wow.
- 32:46Yeah,
- 32:47Charles Marino: That's not good.
- 32:48And a lot of people don't realize, they operate like legitimate
- 32:53Businesses operate in terms of their structure, and how they look at money.
- 33:00But of course, everything that they're involved in, is a detriment.
- 33:06Not only to Mexico, but to the United States.
- 33:08A threat to the United States.
- 33:10And I gotta tell you, anybody that steps outta line and voices
- 33:14Opposition to them from a governmental standpoint is usually eliminated.
- 33:19Bill Erfurth: Yeah.
- 33:20Chuck, I just wanna reiterate that because that's such a massive, Uh,
- 33:25Statistic and, and point that in Mexico, the cartels are the third.
- 33:32Largest employer in the country that, that's shocking.
- 33:37You know, there was an interview yesterday, I believe, when they had
- 33:40The Ambassador to Mexico on, and the question was, who's running the country?
- 33:44The president or the drug cartels?
- 33:47And the guy would not answer that question.
- 33:50Craig Floyd: Yeah.
- 33:51It's clear, it's clearly the
- 33:53Dennis Collins: Cor if you knew the answer.
- 33:55Bill Erfurth: Yeah.
- 33:55Yeah.
- 33:55Crazy.
- 33:55Craig Floyd: Chuck.
- 33:56The, that When you talk about a solution to this problem though,
- 33:59Don't you agree that a lot of it's the political hyperbole.
- 34:04You know, you and I talked about this a little bit offline.
- 34:08The Trump administration Yes, has gotten tough and maybe, you know, calling them
- 34:13Domestic terrorists in Minneapolis, et cetera, might have been gone too far.
- 34:17But they've been pushed by the local leadership in Minneapolis, the mayor.
- 34:22The Governor of Minnesota.
- 34:25Basically declaring war on ICE and on the Trump administration for their
- 34:30Policies and, and how they're trying to enforce the law, which as you pointed
- 34:35Out, was, Uh, given to them by Congress.
- 34:38Uh, the political irresponsibility, I think is at the heart of this issue.
- 34:43Sanctuary city policies, certainly, but then when the feds do go in and try
- 34:48To make a city safer, all of a sudden the mayor, the Governor, all the, the
- 34:52Leadership, even the chief of police.
- 34:55Is, Um, you know, coming down against the Feds.
- 34:58Um, this is a problem and I think that feeds into the media.
- 35:01The media loves this stuff, right?
- 35:03They love all the political hyperbole, so they can, Uh, fuel the, the, Uh, fires,
- 35:10And get everybody all ratcheted up.
- 35:12And then you end up with people dying, Uh, needlessly.
- 35:16Charles Marino: Let's look at what the Biden administration said from day one.
- 35:20You can't secure the border.
- 35:21You can't enforce the immigration laws because we
- 35:24Need overall immigration reform.
- 35:26Meanwhile, meanwhile, we always had Title eight, which is the foundation
- 35:30Of the enforcement of immigration laws.
- 35:33You had things in place like Remain in Mexico that gave a pause to those claiming
- 35:38Asylum until they were thoroughly vetted.
- 35:41Before they were even considered to be let into the country.
- 35:44He stood that down.
- 35:46He stood down every other executive order.
- 35:48President Trump did related to these issues in his first term, so they
- 35:53Were disingenuous about the law.
- 35:55You always had the laws on the books.
- 35:57You always had the authorities on the books already to secure the border
- 36:00And enforce the immigration laws.
- 36:02They just chose not to do it.
- 36:04They were looking at kicking the can down the road and ultimately.
- 36:08If you look at the bills that they put forth, including the last one that
- 36:13Was rejected, it, their bills always included a goal of amnesty, mass Amnesty.
- 36:22Um, and, and I have said from day one that if you paid attention closely.
- 36:28The answer was as obvious as the day is long, they were looking to change
- 36:32The demographics of the United States.
- 36:35They were looking to give those in the country illegal, the right to vote.
- 36:38Ultimately, they were trying to do it through amnesty and that was the goal.
- 36:43It was to hold on the power.
- 36:44It was how can we change and influence the Democratic voter base
- 36:49In this country to make sure that we hold on the power long term.
- 36:53Craig Floyd: Majority of Americans have voted them of office vote votes.
- 36:57It's the numbers.
- 36:57That's why Trump got elected in part, is because of the
- 37:00Immigration problem in this country.
- 37:03Yeah.
- 37:03And now that he comes in and he is, Uh, Uh, closed the border, he's deporting
- 37:08The heinous criminals that have, Uh, come in through the poorest Uh, border.
- 37:12Mm-hmm.
- 37:12Um, and now, people are, are crucifying him and the ICE agents for
- 37:17Enforcing those laws and doing the job that the voters want them to do.
- 37:22Charles Marino: No, that's exactly right.
- 37:24So, I mean, the answers have always been there.
- 37:26It's a little uncomfortable sometimes for some people to say
- 37:29What the, what the honest answer is.
- 37:31But if you look at it, I mean, look, you had votes on the hill.
- 37:35You had a legislation, put forth by the District of
- 37:38Columbia that wanted to do what?
- 37:42Give illegals the right to vote.
- 37:44Dennis Collins: Right.
- 37:45Charles Marino: Look at other Democrats.
- 37:46You had some of them saying the quiet part out loud, not realizing that they
- 37:50Were supposed to shut up, saying, you know, look, this is messing up my, my
- 37:55Redistricting efforts by, by not, you know, by not giving them amnesty, by not,
- 38:01You know, the answers are there and now.
- 38:03So that's an example of where the politics.
- 38:06Overtook the national security interests of the country.
- 38:10And in that case, the politics of the Biden administration
- 38:14Were completely wrong.
- 38:16They ignored.
- 38:18The common sense things to do to keep the country safe.
- 38:22They chose to purposely ignore those.
- 38:25And this is where we are now.
- 38:27So when everybody's complaining about how the cleanup is going in
- 38:32The interior of the country, let's take a step back and remember who
- 38:36Caused this mess in the first place.
- 38:39Bill Erfurth: If Biden hadn't let nearly 20 million people into
- 38:43The country, we wouldn't have these enormous battles today.
- 38:47It would be business as usual, but now it's not.
- 38:51Yeah.
- 38:51Now it's an enhanced enforcement action that has to be taken
- 38:55Charles Marino: Well, and you wouldn't have an innocent Americans being killed.
- 39:00Being raped, being a hundred percent being, being, trafficked.
- 39:06You know, and the other thing is, you know, the policies of the Biden
- 39:09Administration made it more dangerous for everybody, not just the American public,
- 39:13But look how many, Uh, illegals that chose to make the journey to the United States.
- 39:19How many of them lost their lives?
- 39:21How many of them were raped and assaulted and killed?
- 39:26We don't know.
- 39:27Right?
- 39:27And how many are trafficked?
- 39:31Into human trafficking.
- 39:33So, you know, it's, they created a nightmare not only for this
- 39:38Country, but for the entire region.
- 39:40And oh, by the way, along the way, their policies empowered the cartels like
- 39:44They've never been empowered before.
- 39:47Financially, the cartels have never been richer.
- 39:51Okay.
- 39:53Which is, or have grown to the size that they are now.
- 39:57So the reason why we're dealing with the scale of the problem, Uh, that
- 40:02We are, is because of these policies.
- 40:04These policies had an adverse effect on everything.
- 40:08And now you've got an administration that's taking care of the problem
- 40:11And you wanna know something.
- 40:12It's a big problem.
- 40:14Yeah, it
- 40:15Is.
- 40:15Craig Floyd: Oh, and Dennis, I, I don't know how you all feel,
- 40:17But I think, Uh, Chuck has really helped to cl bring clarity Wow.
- 40:22To, to this issue.
- 40:23Uh, Minneapolis is a mess, but there's a lot more to it, and Chuck has really,
- 40:28I think, defined what, what's going on.
- 40:31So, Uh, Chuck, I would love to, I thank you for coming on today.
- 40:34This has been awesome.
- 40:34Dennis Collins: Absolutely.
- 40:35I would like, yeah.
- 40:36Craig Floyd: Thank you.
- 40:37Dennis Collins: Ask Chuck, we maybe we ought to have you come back a few times
- 40:40And really you make sense of this stuff.
- 40:42Craig Floyd: Yeah.
- 40:43Dennis Collins: And that's what our audience wants.
- 40:44They wanna make sense of this.
- 40:46Yeah.
- 40:46But I have a question to kind of maybe start closing this out.
- 40:51Okay.
- 40:53Citizens Behind the Badge is all about the cops.
- 40:56We support the men and women of law enforcement.
- 40:59Okay?
- 41:00Now we understand, as Tom Homan said the other day, not every cop is perfect,
- 41:05And not every operation is perfect.
- 41:07There's always things that we can do to be better, but what is it?
- 41:11If, if, if the men and women of law enforcement are listening today,
- 41:16Do you have a message for them?
- 41:18Uh, what what would you like to say to them as a person who served as
- 41:22One of them and also as the founder of a business and a DHS employee?
- 41:27What, what, what do you, what would be your message?
- 41:30Charles Marino: Yeah.
- 41:30Look, don't fall for the traps that are being laid for you each and every day.
- 41:37By those in the country that have these radical ideologies, either that don't
- 41:43Believe the laws of this country should be enforced, or that the men and women
- 41:48Tasked with enforcing them, are evil.
- 41:52Don't fall into that trap.
- 41:53Understand that there's, there's organizations like yours, that
- 41:58Provide a very important service, to voice and demonstrate that
- 42:04Support each and every day.
- 42:07And that the majority of Americans believe that this country has to
- 42:12Be a country of law and order.
- 42:13No civilized society can survive without it.
- 42:17So the majority of Americans are on the side of law enforcement.
- 42:21They understand that the job is hard enough.
- 42:25On a regular day.
- 42:27But now with all this political nonsense, this political nonsense
- 42:31Coming from the radical left does not represent what the overwhelming majority
- 42:37Of the country feels Absolutely.
- 42:39Uh, about, about law and in, and the enforcement of law and
- 42:43About those that enforce it.
- 42:45So, especially for these law enforcement officers that are
- 42:49Operating in these sanctuary cities.
- 42:52Look, many of them are not operating in these sanctuary cities because of the
- 42:56Sanctuary policies they're operating, because that's where they're from.
- 43:00That's where they've chosen to live.
- 43:01That's where they've chosen to raise their kids.
- 43:04So especially for them.
- 43:07Don't fall into the traps that the local politicians are setting, for
- 43:12These, these men and women, and try not to get hurt because in a lot of
- 43:17These communities, these policies unfortunately, are setting these law
- 43:21Enforcement departments and these law enforcement officers of for failure.
- 43:26Dennis Collins: What a great, well said, inspirational message.
- 43:29That is extremely well said.
- 43:31I don't think any of us could have said it as well as you chuck that
- 43:35Was beautifully done and thank you.
- 43:37Thank
- 43:37Charles Marino: You.
- 43:38Dennis Collins: That I wanna make sure that our audience knows
- 43:41How to get in touch with you.
- 43:43Okay.
- 43:43Charles Marino: Yeah.
- 43:44Dennis Collins: Would you mind sharing your contact information?
- 43:47Charles Marino: Sure.
- 43:48My company website is Sentinel, S-E-N-T-I-N-E-L.
- 43:53Security, Uh, you can find, Uh, information about our company, information
- 43:58About the entire team, and then I'm on X Charles Marino, and you can also
- 44:06Find my website@charlesmarino.com.
- 44:09Dennis Collins: Great.
- 44:10Great.
- 44:10Perfect.
- 44:10I'm sure, Uh, I'm sure a lot of people will like to reach out to you.
- 44:15Of course.
- 44:16You have such a common sense, articulate way of framing all this and, Uh,
- 44:21I think that's what we need now.
- 44:23Charles Marino: Well, great.
- 44:24Thank you.
- 44:24Now look, this is what I try and do, right?
- 44:26I try and.
- 44:28Cut through all the noise and really analyze it and say, look,
- 44:34Thi this is the way policies and ideologies are gonna impact us.
- 44:40And it's either going to be right or it's going to be wrong.
- 44:44There's no hybrid here.
- 44:46And I think we're seeing, that the policies of sanctuary cities, are
- 44:52Grossly inept and very dangerous.
- 44:55Dennis Collins: Indeed.
- 44:56So I can't help but ask you one last question.
- 44:59Sure.
- 44:59During this interview, I've heard a little chirping in the
- 45:02Background and I wasn't sure.
- 45:04I,
- 45:04Charles Marino: No, I don't know what I don't.
- 45:06Yeah, I don't know what that noise is.
- 45:08I don't, I thought you had a bird heat or something.
- 45:10No.
