- 0:01Here's your host, Alex Garrett. Well, this is a month of adaptability
- 0:10and here on the Alex Garrett podcast Network, I'm going to feature a segment
- 0:15with Jeffrey Krustler, who actually passed away. He's the Cuney John Jay College
- 0:23librarian recently passed away this just this year. I was told on my YouTube
- 0:29channel, and you know, he had an adaptive story. He survived a
- 0:33heart attack thanks to the hard working EMS workers that were out there during the
- 0:39pandemic. And I want to share his story because there have been new developments
- 0:45with the life of Jeffrey Crustler. The Historic Districts Council has created the Jeffrey
- 0:51Crustler Student Research Award. It's at a recent Grasswords Preservation Awards. The Historic
- 0:59Districts account which preserves landmarks in New York City. By the way, HDC
- 1:04announced the creation of the Jeffrey Crustler Student Research Award and an annual Jury and
- 1:11Award on as an annual Jury and Award honoring original graduate level research on topics
- 1:19relevant to New York City historic preservation. Jeffrey Crustler was all about New York
- 1:25City. He wrote about New York City, he talked about New York City.
- 1:27He had this passion for the city he grew up in, and I'm
- 1:32so glad that the Historic District's Council is honoring him. Do you know that
- 1:37at least one one thousand dollars award will be presented each year and the award
- 1:42recipients allowed the opportunity to present their final research to an audience of New York
- 1:49City stakeholders. Next year will be the first time they award the Jeffrey Crustler
- 1:57Research Award, which, by the way, will showcase high level research beneficial
- 2:05to the historic possession preservation community in New York City. Now how do I
- 2:10get into landmarks? Well, my mother and I visited the T Building,
- 2:15which is actually a landmarked building, and then I started looking and seeing,
- 2:22Wow, there's actually a commission that continues to work with the City Council to
- 2:28get certain blocks, certain buildings, certain you know lands, even landmarked and
- 2:38preserved forever. And that's all thanks to the Historic District Council. And you
- 2:43see them honoring Jeffrey Crustler means the world. And so while I've had jeffreyon
- 2:49multiple times, I'm going to play the first conversation we had about, you
- 2:53know, his surviving the heart attack and his thanks the EMS workers through the
- 2:59Daily knee would you can find in the link below of this one leg up
- 3:04feature of the Alex Garra podcast Network. One of the breaking news tonight which
- 3:08I wanted to share with you was like Joe Biden finally wrote off student debt
- 3:15himself. He said, well, if Scotus isn't gonna do it, I'm
- 3:19gonna do it via executive action. And whether you like it or not,
- 3:25he used the pen to forgive. You know, I think they said thirty
- 3:32nine billion dollars in student loan debt for eight hundred thousand borrowers with the stroke
- 3:42of a pen by closing loopholes that prevented some burrowers from gaining relief they had
- 3:49earned with years of payments. This will be applied hundred thousand borrowers who right
- 4:03off that after borrowers make twenty or more for years of payments, they wanted
- 4:11to do four hundred billion, which is just kind of crazy and quite radical.
- 4:16But for the eight hundred thousand borrowers, tonight some good news and I
- 4:20got to see how they actually select these eight hundred thousand people, and maybe
- 4:31just maybe this can work. I know that people who have already paid off
- 4:38their student loans are saying, well, what about me and whatnot? And
- 4:42we can have that conversation another day. But there you go. That's an
- 4:46example of the president using his executive power and the pen to do what he
- 4:54thinks is beneficial. I just wonder how they're gonna get the thirty nine billion
- 4:59dollars? Does that mean our taxes? Here? And and finally, um
- 5:10so we'll get into that more. But finally, yes, Casey at the
- 5:15bat, Casey Sean Casey his first time as hitting coach tonight in Colorado and
- 5:24in the main vein of Fanatics Friday. Check out the new link. It's
- 5:29a Garret Cole American League jersey because how cool is it to where the word
- 5:33American around? And I kind of like the green that they wore. And
- 5:38of course Cole was the All Star for the Yankees, even though Judge was
- 5:41voted in, he did not go because he was injured. But Fanatics Friday
- 5:46affiliate link below to get your own Garrett Cole jersey. I think I've covered
- 5:55all I wanted to tonight here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network. One leg
- 5:59a feature. We'll be back with more, but do listen back to Jeffrey
- 6:03Chressler's conversation. He was so insightful, so great, so giving him his
- 6:10time, and I just want to replay that tonight and give a shout out
- 6:14to the Historic District's Council for acknowledging a really, really good person and a
- 6:19QUNEE icon. Signed a fellow QUNEE alumnus, graduate of twenty thirteen Queen's College,
- 6:29We'll talk to you soon on the Alex Garrett podcast Network
