- 1:43Sean McAllister: Vegas Revealed, presented by Level Up Law, starts now.
- 1:48Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 222.
- 1:51Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli in sunny Las Vegas over a long Memorial Day weekend.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: And we're in podcast episode Triple Twos.
- 2:02Sean McAllister: Triple Twos.
- 2:03Dayna Roselli: So one day it will be triple sevens and it will be very Vegas.
- 2:06Sean McAllister: Oh God, that's gonna be a while from now.
- 2:10Sean McAllister: I'm gonna have aching joints, sagging skin.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: We'll be on uh ARP.
- 2:16Sean McAllister: I already get a whole bunch of AARP.
- 2:19Sean McAllister: You do?
- 2:19Sean McAllister: Yes, I've gotten it for years.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 2:23Sean McAllister: Since I mean, I'm not like enrolled, I don't get any benefits, but I've gotten things since my 30s.
- 2:30Sean McAllister: I've gotten AARP things in the mail.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: Like to prepare myself, I guess.
- 2:35Sean McAllister: They want me to ease into my ARP years.
- 2:39Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, that is so funny.
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: All right, well, welcome everyone.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: Yes, like Sean said, sunny Las Vegas.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: We've been up and down in the tents.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: It's been nice.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: Today it's in like the like low 80s and it's beautiful.
- 2:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, this is the perfect, perfect time of year.
- 2:55Sean McAllister: It is.
- 2:56Dayna Roselli: Hey, we got a text message, so we like to read those.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: You can text us in our show notes.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: There's a link to text us now, and so you can respond to any of our comments, give us ideas, all that kind of thing.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: Uh, we got another note from Kevin who's responding to a comment or actually a discussion that we had last week about, you know, what constitutes a residency.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: Is it two shows, five shows, one show in 2024, and two shows in 2025?
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: And Kevin kind of uh pretty much agreed with us, saying, you know, there needs to be multiple shows in a sequence continued.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: Kevin is from Greenville, South Carolina, and he says a residency to me has to be at least one or two shows a week for a period of time, maybe over four weeks or so.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: So that's what Kevin had to say about that.
- 3:45Dayna Roselli: We always appreciate people chiming in.
- 3:47Sean McAllister: We do.
- 3:48Sean McAllister: And again, uh, we want, we love your feedback.
- 3:52Sean McAllister: So click that link down in the show notes and it'll uh open up all the deal to send a text message to us, and we love getting them and reading them.
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: It's always fun.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: We're like, oh, we got a text message.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: We can't text you back, but we'll talk about it on the podcast, that's for sure.
- 4:07Dayna Roselli: Um, listen, we got to talk about the Mirage because we did talk about it on our television show, but I don't think we've talked about it on the uh audio podcast yet because the date came out that the Mirage is closing, July 17th, 2024.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: So, you know, it's coming.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, just a couple months.
- 4:23Dayna Roselli: And it's gonna be closed for three years for a transformation into the hard rock hotel and casino.
- 4:29Dayna Roselli: And I think that was the surprising part.
- 4:30Dayna Roselli: We didn't think it would be completely closed for that long of a period, right?
- 4:35Sean McAllister: So they're doing a top-to-bottom remodel over there at the Mirage to turn it into the hard rock.
- 4:42Sean McAllister: Uh, part of that renovation is a 700-foot guitar tower that is going to be built right along the strip in the place where the Mirage Volcano is right now.
- 4:53Sean McAllister: So that attraction is going away, replaced by a big glass guitar that you'll be able to stay in.
- 5:02Sean McAllister: But I believe they're also um kind of building the property forward.
- 5:08Sean McAllister: So the way that the Mirage is right now, you have to walk up a long sidewalk from the Las Vegas strip if you're you know out walking around, um, to get up to the front doors to go into the property and then get into the casino.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: And it looks like from the plans that um, you know, that there's going to be an entrance right off of the sidewalk to get you into the property a little quicker.
- 5:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that'll be that'll be good, I think, you know, for foot traffic, like you were saying.
- 5:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: I mean, it it's okay that you have to walk a little bit to get into the front door now, and that there's some pretty stuff by the edge of the road, but I don't know.
- 5:46Dayna Roselli: It'll be interesting to see what it looks like.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: Um, yeah, not opening back up until 2027.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: So that's why Love is closing by Cirque de Soleil.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: We told you about that.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: Um, their final show is coming up early July, so they're not running all the way until July 17th.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: Shin Lim's gonna close.
- 6:04Sean McAllister: Yeah, all the other entertainment at the property uh is gonna be closed um by July 14th.
- 6:10Sean McAllister: Um, but there are a lot of questions that people may have about the Mirage closing down, and there are a lot of answers posted on the Mirage website, and we just want to go through some of those for you.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you can go to the website and read through them all if you're, you know, a fan of the Mirage, you have reservations at the Mirage, uh, you want to get into the Mirage before it closes, but just a few of the, I guess the ones that stuck out to me that people might have questions about.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: Um, what happens if my reservation extends through the final day of operation?
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: Well, they say reservations will be modified to ensure all hotel guests are departed on or before July 15th.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: So they're not taking room reservations past July 14th.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: The property will stay open till July 17th, but everyone needs to be departed by July 15th, if that makes sense.
- 7:04Dayna Roselli: They'll be in contact with you.
- 7:06Dayna Roselli: The thing I thought was interesting about the chips, because some people have, I guess, mirage chips, like can they turn them in?
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: Um, and they said that you have to turn them in by the 17th of July, but that you also can redeem your tri chips at Treasure Island up to 120 days after July 17th.
- 7:30Dayna Roselli: So they're partnering with Treasure Island there to help out, which is nice.
- 7:34Sean McAllister: That's very nice.
- 7:35Sean McAllister: Also, um, if you made any sports wagers over at the Mirage, they have a BetMGM sports book, and obviously you may have bet on a match or uh an event that's happening way down the road.
- 7:50Sean McAllister: Um, you can redeem any of those wagers at any other BetMGM sports book on the Las Vegas strip.
- 7:58Sean McAllister: So that's good to keep in mind as well.
- 8:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, really good.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: Um, lots of information on here, all about like the unity points that they have going with the hard rock, um, all sorts of different gaming answers.
- 8:09Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, go to this site.
- 8:11Dayna Roselli: You can it it it's casino.hardrock.com and then backslash, backslash, backslash, but you can get there by just going to the Mirage's website.
- 8:19Sean McAllister: And uh if you have anything that you think may have ended up at the lost and found, uh-huh uh following the closure on the 17th, guests will have 21 days to claim any items found on the property.
- 8:33Sean McAllister: Um, as of August 7th of this year, any uh remaining items may be donated or chucked.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 8:43Sean McAllister: So just keep that in mind.
- 8:45Sean McAllister: If you if anything you lost over at the Mirage, just claim it ASAP.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, claim it ASAP, that's for sure.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: Speaking of uh, well, things from a hotel casino that's closing, uh donations, getting rid of things.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: I don't know how to transition into this, but um, your husband went over to the Tropicana sale.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: They did a big sale inside, you know, it closed, obviously.
- 9:10Dayna Roselli: Um, what, like selling items from the restaurant and stuff?
- 9:14Sean McAllister: Oh my god, it was a huge liquidation sale.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: I mean, it was everything from pillows, mattresses, um, all the glassware from the property.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: It was anything that you could think of pictures, uh furniture, lamps, yeah, whatever.
- 9:30Sean McAllister: Um, apparently, people were even like ripping signs off the wall.
- 9:34Sean McAllister: Why?
- 9:35Sean McAllister: Like you had to go to a checkout line, and by the way, there's no air conditioning inside the building, no running water, so there were no bathrooms.
- 9:45Sean McAllister: Um, people were being let in in groups of like 25.
- 9:48Sean McAllister: Um and it was getting getting kind of crazy.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: People wanted a piece of the Tropicana, literally.
- 9:56Sean McAllister: So they were ripping things off walls.
- 9:58Sean McAllister: There apparently a security guard said that there was one guy who came in and cut a chunk out of the stage over at the Tropicana because that's where he proposed to his wife.
- 10:11Sean McAllister: Oh, that's cool.
- 10:12Sean McAllister: And he wanted that section, and they were like, listen, you can't just leave a hole in the stage.
- 10:16Sean McAllister: Why?
- 10:17Sean McAllister: And the guy was like, No worries.
- 10:19Sean McAllister: I brought a piece of wood to cover it up with so no one falls down there.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: Oh my god.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: I'm like, wait, why can't you leave a hole in the stage?
- 10:25Dayna Roselli: Isn't it coming down anyway?
- 10:27Sean McAllister: It is.
- 10:27Sean McAllister: I mean, there's a wrecking ball coming in, uh, implosion.
- 10:31Sean McAllister: So the hole in the stage isn't gonna matter much, but I guess in the meantime, yeah, you can't just have a big hole there.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: But people are getting creative with taking pieces of the Tropicana.
- 10:42Sean McAllister: Interesting.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: That I like the idea that that guy proposed to his wife, and now he has a piece of the stage.
- 10:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 10:49Dayna Roselli: Um, I love my glasses that I got.
- 10:51Dayna Roselli: I got two Tropicana Las Vegas uh glasses.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: Um, so thank you, Shane, for getting those for me.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: I think he said they were a buck each, right?
- 10:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, a dollar each.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: That's great.
- 11:01Sean McAllister: We got some plates, a uh teapot, like a ceramic teapot.
- 11:06Sean McAllister: Uh-huh.
- 11:06Sean McAllister: Because we don't have a teapot.
- 11:07Sean McAllister: Okay, good.
- 11:08Sean McAllister: So now we can brew some tea.
- 11:10Dayna Roselli: And I think um he said that all the glass and stuff was out of there, that glass ceiling, right?
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: That was all torn out.
- 11:15Sean McAllister: The uh Tiffany glass ceiling that was over the uh table games uh right there as you walk in.
- 11:21Sean McAllister: That was taken out.
- 11:22Sean McAllister: It's in storage right now.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: Uh they've not revealed plans where it's going to be displayed, but that is one of the um iconic elements of the Tropicana that is going to be preserved and um that'll pop up somewhere around Las Vegas at some point in the future.
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and hopefully they weren't were they giving away those slot machine chairs that were all craft and nasty?
- 11:48Sean McAllister: Yes, like everything.
- 11:50Dayna Roselli: But why?
- 11:51Sean McAllister: Well, I don't know.
- 11:52Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 11:54Sean McAllister: People might re-upholster them.
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: People sitting on those chairs.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Oh, even mattresses from the hotel.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: People were getting those.
- 12:01Dayna Roselli: No.
- 12:02Sean McAllister: I mean, but going back to the glass ceiling, uh, since it was removed, you could see up to what was above it, and there were all of these uh almost doorways.
- 12:15Sean McAllister: It looks like doorways to nothing because they looked out into this empty space, but that's where people used to stand over the table games and look down to try and catch any cheaters.
- 12:27Sean McAllister: So it was like that portion was revealed, and you obviously couldn't see it when the glass ceiling was there, but I thought that was pretty cool.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's cool.
- 12:35Dayna Roselli: Interesting.
- 12:36Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 12:36Sean McAllister: And wrecking crews have been busy getting a lot of the exterior portions of the Tropicana torn down.
- 12:44Sean McAllister: The big bulk of the building is set to be demolished, likely by implosion, um, later this year.
- 12:52Sean McAllister: Fall, probably late fall at some time.
- 12:55Dayna Roselli: It'll be a big occasion, that's for sure.
- 12:57Dayna Roselli: It's always fun to see a hotel casino imploded.
- 13:01Sean McAllister: And but it's it's part of Vegas history, and it is uh a part that it's fun to be a part of.
- 13:06Sean McAllister: It is.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: Hey, we went over to the Palms and talked to the red rocker, Sammy Hagar.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: People love Sammy, you know.
- 13:13Dayna Roselli: I love him too.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: He is so much fun to chat with.
- 13:16Dayna Roselli: You did a great interview with him.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: He is so much fun, and he's got such great stories, and yeah, really a very uh business-minded guy as well.
- 13:27Sean McAllister: But he has taken over part of the Palms Pool very cabo vibe out there, vibrant, colorful.
- 13:35Sean McAllister: So it was a great place to sit down and and talk with the Red Rocker about everything you can experience there now.
- 13:43Sean McAllister: So when people come out here to Sammy's Island at Palms, what are they going to experience?
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: They're gonna experience what Sammy likes.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: And you know, all you have in life is your personal taste.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: And that's what makes what you create different than some other guy creating, whether it's be my beer, this is my favorite lager.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I made it because I I compared it to my favorite lager, and I said, no, it's got to be better than that.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: And that's my personal taste.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Somebody say, Oh man, I like my lagers different.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: This is the way I like my pools.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: This is the way I like my pool party.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: The food we have.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: I designed the menu with the chefs here.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: We worked on it for six months, and we, you know, it's just saying, this is the kind of food I would like to eat in this environment.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: These are the kind of drinks I want to drink in this environment.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: I don't want to wear a tie.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: I want to go casual.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: So I build an environment and serve the food where you can have it in flip-flops, tank tops, round the clock non-stop.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: And that's my that's Sammy's Island.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Does does rhyming like that just roll off your tongue?
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: It did just it did.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: So if it does tonight when I sing with that band, I'm gonna jump on stage tonight and jump with the band.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: That's the most exciting thing a musician could do is play for their fans unexpected.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: You know, that's always like, oh my God.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: Well, and so you opened Cabo Wabo down in Mexico 35 years ago.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: So, what was the conversation that led to you opening that and becoming known for this island vibe?
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: I went there and I loved the environment, the place there.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I looked when I walked down the street and I ate, you know, tacos in some little taco stand.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: I was drinking tequila and here comes a mariachi band.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: I'm going, this, I love this feeling.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: And look, I got goosebumps.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Just talking about it.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: I got goosebumps.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And uh and I said, I just love this feeling.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: I want to build a bar down here, and I want to serve my tequila.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I want to go find the best tequila in the world, and I want my friends and people, I want the whole world to experience this.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: So that's the way I feel about here in Las Vegas.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, have the cobwebo here in Las Vegas, but it's it's mostly a restaurant, it's a great Mexican restaurant.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, the food is fantastic.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: But I wanted the experience with the big music, the big stage.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: They're gonna give me a budget where I can hire bands.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, real bands, you know, like Rick Springfield and Collective Soul, my friends, that that'll come and I'll play with them.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Um, it's the whole idea of this island, it's like it's an alternative pool party.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: And that's the best way I can put it.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: What is Sammy Simon?
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: It's an alternative pool party.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Alternative to what?
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Alternative to that loud boom, boom, boom, boom, boom for 40 45 days in a row until you're walking out of like you know.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: This is a real music, you know.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: We play raggae, we play country, we play life show, we play rock, we play classic rock, we play new rock.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: Um, it's really about that.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Everything that goes on here is is a little bit alternative.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: So you can go over to the strip, which I love the strip.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: I have a restaurant on the damn strip, you know.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Uh go over there, party yourself to death, but you're gonna want to come back here the next morning, and you're gonna want to ease into that water about 10 o'clock after having a breakfast burrito, and then you're gonna want to ease into having a cocktail, maybe afternoon, and and start over again and heal.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: This is this is a healing place.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: I like that.
- 16:55Sean McAllister: I think this is gonna be have to be my new healing place.
- 16:58Sean McAllister: This is great.
- 16:59Sean McAllister: And so are we gonna be seeing you out here more often, right, now that you have your own island.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: All the bands I've already hit to play.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: George Surgood, uh uh Rick Springfield, Collector's Soul, Roger Klein and the Hart, uh, and uh the Roger Klein and the and the Peacemakers.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: I always want to call them the pacemakers.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, Roger.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Just you got you picked a bad name.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: And these are the people I've already hit on, you know, to come and and and play.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: And and uh I'm and they all say, Well, are you gonna be there?
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: I'll say, of course I'll be there.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: So the idea is to really have my friends come and play and just come and jump on stage with them.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: That's that's what I do at the Cobble Wobble.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I've been doing that for 35 years.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, nice.
- 17:37Sean McAllister: Well, congratulations on Sammy's Island out here at Palms.
- 17:41Sean McAllister: Can't wait to party with you, man.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: Wait a minute.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: We've already started.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: What do you mean?
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: I can't wait.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: I need to catch up.
- 17:49Dayna Roselli: And the cool thing about Sammy's Island is that it is open to the public.
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: So you don't have to be staying at the hotel in order to pop over and visit there.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 18:00Dayna Roselli: If you're in Las Vegas and you want to stop by, like he said, uh it just sounds like it'll be a blast.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: Uh, he's gonna jump up on stage, he's gonna have his friends performing.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: So look forward to a really tropical summer over at Palms.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: And you can watch the interview if you're interested in actually seeing Sammy Hagar and Sean sitting in his cabana on our YouTube page.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: We'll post it over the weekend.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: Our podcast initially drops on Thursdays.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: That'll be posted over the weekend once it airs on Fox Five, where our TV show airs.
- 18:35Dayna Roselli: And you can always find all our episodes on the Vegas Revealed YouTube.
- 18:40Sean McAllister: By the way, we went over to the El Cortez Hotel and Casino.
- 18:44Sean McAllister: This is one of the vintage properties in downtown Las Vegas, right there on Fremont Street.
- 18:50Sean McAllister: Um, it's been around since the 1940s, really, one of the original uh hotel casinos in Las Vegas.
- 18:59Sean McAllister: Uh, we're gonna have an entire chunk of a future episode dedicated to that because we did a great interview, went around, uh, toured the property, but they are opening a brand new Starbucks.
- 19:12Dayna Roselli: Yes, and it opens at the end of May.
- 19:14Dayna Roselli: And this is a great spot because you'll be able to access it from the street or the hotel casino, and it's a popular corner right there in downtown Las Vegas.
- 19:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, and there's a good-sized uh dining room inside of there too, so plenty of space to you know, bring your laptop, do some work if you're in downtown Las Vegas, or just to pop in and grab a coffee.
- 19:36Sean McAllister: But I love that there's a Starbucks down there.
- 19:38Sean McAllister: I you don't see a ton of Starbucks downtown.
- 19:41Dayna Roselli: I know, and that can always be a little controversial, like, oh, Starbucks, you know, you're not going with the local coffee shop, but you know, it's good to have choice.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: Some people like their Starbucks, they like the consistency, they like knowing what the price is gonna be when they walk in.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: Others love that specialty-made local coffee shop.
- 20:00Sean McAllister: And if you're familiar with uh the El Cortez, you know, up to now, the Starbucks is taking over the space where the subway restaurant used to be.
- 20:10Sean McAllister: So that gives you an idea if you're familiar of where it is.
- 20:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, good point.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: Hey, there have been some sightings over there too.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: Um, Vince Vaughn and Al Pacino have been on property at the El Cortez.
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: Um, they've been all over.
- 20:23Dayna Roselli: And it's like finally I like Googled what's the deal here, what's the movie?
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: So they were over at the uh palot uh bridge near the palazzo, right on there on Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 20:32Dayna Roselli: I think they were over at Berry's Prime, from what I can tell from the uh stories on Instagram and they had to shut down the restaurant.
- 20:40Sean McAllister: Did you do the carpet match again?
- 20:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I didn't do the carpet.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: Well, I know it's at Barry's.
- 20:43Dayna Roselli: It was Barry's that was posted.
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay.
- 20:45Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 20:45Dayna Roselli: They didn't reveal what movie was being shot or anybody in it, but I was like, oh, they must be.
- 20:51Dayna Roselli: They must be shooting at berries.
- 20:53Dayna Roselli: Because it sounds like it's gonna be a very old school Vegas kind of film, uh, incorporating some of that anyway, because I looked it up and it's Easy's Waltz, is what it's called.
- 21:03Dayna Roselli: Stars Vince Vaughn El Pacino.
- 21:05Dayna Roselli: Uh, we even saw El Pacino go to David Blaine.
- 21:07Dayna Roselli: We saw, remember, we posted that picture.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: So they've been in town now.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: Vince Vaughn, you can't miss him, he's so tall.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: Here's the the synopsis a down on his luck crooner is given a chance at a comeback by an old school Vegas personality, but his brother's schemes and his own penchant for self-sabotage threaten to ruin the deal.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: But it sounds good, right?
- 21:31Sean McAllister: It does.
- 21:32Sean McAllister: And listen, I love when movies are shot all over Las Vegas because it's fun to actually go and sit in the theater and see all of these spots that we, you know, pop in and out of all the time up there on the big screen.
- 21:47Sean McAllister: But I'm curious of uh how the continuity is going to go once they get everything done.
- 21:54Sean McAllister: Because uh other films that have been shot here in Las Vegas, it's like people are driving.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Uh towards Mandalay Bay on Las Vegas Boulevard, and then all of a sudden they're downtown.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: They're at the golden nugget and they look up and they can see the Mirage or something.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: It's always silly.
- 22:11Sean McAllister: The movie editing isn't necessarily true to life, which, you know, that's Hollywood for you.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: But I love that they're hitting all these local spots.
- 22:21Dayna Roselli: So that's really cool, like you said, and it's always fun to see movies shot in Vegas.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: And they're always really good anyway, because everyone loves to watch a good movie set in Vegas.
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: But anyway, that's kind of a little tip if you're around town and around Las Vegas anytime recently, you might spot them somewhere else.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: And we're talking Vince Vaughn, Al Pacino, and more in the film.
- 22:41Dayna Roselli: But hey, let's do our planned tips now.
- 22:47Sean McAllister: For more than three decades here in Las Vegas, there has been a local restaurant that people absolutely love.
- 22:56Sean McAllister: It's called Lindo Michoacan.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: And they just opened a new location at Palace Station right there on West Sahara.
- 23:07Dayna Roselli: Now, the East Desert Inn location is the original, and there are lines all the time.
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: All the time.
- 23:12Sean McAllister: I drive by it all the time, and there's always people sitting out front waiting.
- 23:16Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: So I mean the fact that they're gonna have one now over at Palace Station, I can only imagine it's gonna be so popular.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: And I love that it's a local restaurant going into a hotel casino.
- 23:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's family-owned, which is great.
- 23:31Sean McAllister: This isn't a big corporate thing that's that's going on.
- 23:34Sean McAllister: It's a local family-run restaurant that's partnered with the local family-run Station Casinos um group that we talk about frequently here on the podcast.
- 23:49Sean McAllister: So it's a great partnership, and we stopped over to the restaurant to check it out.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we were able to talk with the owner and founder, Javier Barajas.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: And I had a very important question for him.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: Now, Javier, I've been to the restaurant many times.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: It's a very big menu, very large.
- 24:05Dayna Roselli: So I'm gonna I'm gonna stump you here and ask you if I had to pick one item on that menu, what should I pick?
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm a beef eater.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: I I love my steaks.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: So any of your the steaks with uh Mexican sauce, that's that's gonna be for me.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: Sounds good to me too.
- 24:24Dayna Roselli: How about you, Sean?
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm all about it.
- 24:28Dayna Roselli: Sean likes a good steak too, that's for sure.
- 24:31Dayna Roselli: Will this be like the other ones?
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: Is there anything different?
- 24:34Dayna Roselli: What what's your thinking?
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: You know, it's a different location.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: No, we keep exactly the same.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Everything made from scratch, uh, everything is fresh, uh, you know, the best qualities.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's all all for the same.
- 24:48Dayna Roselli: You said it was a dream of yours to be here.
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: Why is that?
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Well, uh, Palace Station is is the most popular uh casino for locos and uh in uh locos love Lindo Michoacan too.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: So I I think it's a great uh combination.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Uh Palace Station and Lindo Michoacan.
- 25:08Sean McAllister: I love it.
- 25:09Sean McAllister: Lindo is a great addition over there at Palace Station, um, which by the way, they have done a ton of upgrades over there at Palace Station, which is the original uh Palace uh station casino property here in Las Vegas, which is cool too.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it makes sense that the you know they have this restaurant in there.
- 25:29Dayna Roselli: And in Lindo, you can see right when you walk through the front doors from the front parking lot, it's right there on the right side.
- 25:35Dayna Roselli: You'll see the sign.
- 25:36Dayna Roselli: Um, so go check it out.
- 25:38Dayna Roselli: If you love Mexican food, it's a great place.
- 25:41Dayna Roselli: And like I said, the menu is large, so you have plenty of choice.
- 25:44Sean McAllister: They've got great margaritas too.
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, great margaritas.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: Well, we recently told you about the free firework show starting in downtown Las Vegas.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: And lucky us, we ran into CEO Jonathan Jostle of the Plaza Hotel and Casino while we were at the Power of Love Gala, and so we had to ask him about it.
- 26:03SPEAKER_05: And it's gonna be a big deal for downtown.
- 26:05SPEAKER_05: Everyone downtown is getting behind it.
- 26:06SPEAKER_05: The city, free months of your experience, some of our neighboring casinos are all supporting it, and it's gonna be cool.
- 26:11SPEAKER_05: It's another attention, uh, for another driver for downtown to bring people down there, something else to do.
- 26:16SPEAKER_05: And we always think of downtown.
- 26:18SPEAKER_05: You can go zipline, listen to music, go to a bar, go to a casino, go to a pool party.
- 26:22SPEAKER_05: Now you can watch fireworks, it just adds to the excitement of downtown.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: So what uh give me the details every week.
- 26:28SPEAKER_05: Every Friday.
- 26:29SPEAKER_05: I it started as an idea.
- 26:30SPEAKER_05: Every Friday, it's gonna be 9:15 p.m.
- 26:33SPEAKER_05: every Friday, uh for the whole summer till September.
- 26:36SPEAKER_05: But if it's fun and people like it, we'll keep doing it.
- 26:38SPEAKER_05: And I could see maybe it becomes a thing like Disney where we're doing it every night and it's a whole spectacle.
- 26:43Sean McAllister: Well, those nightly fireworks at Disneyland definitely uh have become an attraction and something that people wait around for.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: So hopefully uh that same is gonna happen in downtown Las Vegas, down on Fremont Street with the Plaza fireworks.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that'll be good.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: I think people will enjoy that.
- 27:00Dayna Roselli: Hey, you know how they have a pink box over there, the big donut shop?
- 27:03Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 27:03Dayna Roselli: At uh the plaza, just a little FYI, the Perump Nugget Hotel and Casino in Perump, Nevada, just got a pink box donuts and thousands of people turned out for the grand opening.
- 27:16Dayna Roselli: So it's a big deal for Perump to have a pink box.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: That is a big deal.
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: So if you're visiting Las Vegas and you want to go over the hump to Perump, you've only been there by helicopter, so much different than the drive.
- 27:29Sean McAllister: Much different.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there's a lot more in Perump than just you know.
- 27:34Sean McAllister: Well, it's over in Nye County.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: Yes, or brothel is a little bit.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: So if you're into that thing.
- 27:41Dayna Roselli: Brothel and a donut.
- 27:42Dayna Roselli: Sounds great.
- 27:43Dayna Roselli: There we go.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: All right, that's a show.

- 28:07Sean McAllister: Also, thank you to the Vegas Near Me app available in the uh Apple App Store and on Google Play for Android devices.

- 28:25Dayna Roselli: Well, we'll see you next week.
- 28:26Dayna Roselli: Um, this week, what are we doing?
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay.
- 28:29Dayna Roselli: We're going to interview Jason DeRullo.
- 28:30Sean McAllister: Oh, right.
- 28:31Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: For his new residency at Phoenician.
- 28:33Dayna Roselli: We're going to interview Terry Fader over at the Strat.
- 28:36Sean McAllister: He has a brand new show opening over there.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: Um, what else have we done?
- 28:40Dayna Roselli: Gosh, I feel like we've done so much.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: You guys, we're just getting so much content that it's sometimes like clouding our brain.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: Like, wait, what do we have?
- 28:50Dayna Roselli: Um, but those are two of the immediate things that we're doing this week for next week.
- 28:54Sean McAllister: The El Cortez.
- 28:55Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 28:55Sean McAllister: Uh a big renovation planned over at uh that property.
- 29:01Sean McAllister: So we went over, um, toured around a whole bunch of those areas, got a great interview about that.
- 29:07Sean McAllister: Um so that's still to come in the next little bit too.
- 29:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 29:13Dayna Roselli: So thank you to all of our subscribers here on the audio podcast.
