- 0:01The overall theme is that humility is a state of mind,
- 0:04which means the number one source of making you humble will
- 0:08not be a situation in life. Although you people think that's
- 0:11going to humble them, it won't work on arrogant guy.
- 0:14Hopefully our way to remain arrogant.
- 0:16Even if his life situation should prove to him he hasn't
- 0:19really deserved the arrogance, it's still remain arrogant and a
- 0:22humble person will be in a perfect life situation and
- 0:26they'll figure out a way to remain humble.
- 0:28So he says one of the biggest things that a person has to be
- 0:31aware when it comes to creating humility in the mind is when it
- 0:35comes to the gifts. The first gift was wisdom.
- 0:39People think that wisdom is their own talent.
- 0:42They think it's like a self-made talent.
- 0:44It's coming from your own personal mind.
- 0:46It's the most related to you of all your gifts that you have
- 0:48because it's you. Every idea you think of
- 0:51literally feels like it's an extension of you.
- 0:53You thought it off, you came up with it, it came from you.
- 0:56And that's a major pathway to arrogance, that sense that I
- 1:01came up with this idea and it came from me.
- 1:03So therefore person has to realize the opposite is true.
- 1:07Person has to notice and say to themselves, where did my wisdom
- 1:10come from? It's a God-given gift.
- 1:13You know, he's saying it to Vila TA hornen, la damdat Hashem, you
- 1:17gift man. Wisdom hornen is a word for a
- 1:21complete gift. It totally from your mind.
- 1:24It's hard to imagine that my thoughts and I'm thinking right
- 1:27now these are functions I'm they're my own body they're my
- 1:29own mind. They have my own thoughts and
- 1:32the reality is it's all just like Shem's creation and a
- 1:36person needs to see that that way and not allow himself when
- 1:39he comes up with a great idea and a major business move or
- 1:42makes it comes up with a great thought has something very
- 1:45creative to say has a very funny joke.
- 1:47These things make you feel good because you believe it's coming
- 1:49from you. First has to realize it's not
- 1:52his own gifts. And then he has to realize that
- 1:55if God gave him these things and he's utilizing them, that's like
- 1:59a bird flying with his wings. Are wings impressive?
- 2:03They are. They're not impressive for a
- 2:04bird. If I were to have wings, they'd
- 2:06be very impressive for a bird that's part of his basic
- 2:09physical makeup. A person who has thoughts, who
- 2:12comes up with good ideas, who even has a good shot in learning
- 2:16right, who has a very smart thing to say in a conversation,
- 2:19who always knows good advice, right?
- 2:22All these things can lead to major arrogance.
- 2:25And at the same time they can be, if you look at it the right
- 2:29way, they can be a realization. Hashem gave you gifts and all
- 2:32you're doing is expressing your gifts.
- 2:33That's all. That's the mindset.
- 2:35It's a God-given talent. It's a God-given talent, Not
- 2:38what people think, man. People think that it's a man
- 2:41created. Everyone thinks and you have a
- 2:43thought, you think that you know what's the combination of?
- 2:46It's a combination of your experiences.
- 2:47It's a combination of your learning, your upbringing, your
- 2:51own hard work. You came up with this idea.
- 2:53So you think that you, you developed and nurtured a certain
- 2:58specific thought. Next slide, something comes up
- 3:00in business and you say buy that.
- 3:02Don't buy the other item in your mind.
- 3:04You're thinking to yourself, where do I get that idea from?
- 3:07It's because of all that I know and it's my thoughts.
- 3:10That's the wrong approach. Approach apartment approaches.
- 3:12It's God and gave you that talent.
- 3:14Part 1 And secondly, all you're doing is developing and flexing
- 3:19your own physical muscles that Hashem gave you the same way.
- 3:23It's, it's nothing more than a person moving his hand and
- 3:27moving his arm and kicking his leg.
- 3:29His thoughts are just you flexing with the gifts that
- 3:32Hashem gave you. And you have to see it that way.
- 3:34All right, Keena, where are you from?
- 3:36443 me Shu Baal said a person smart enough to realize this,
- 3:40he's very smart guy in all say Ella should be hooked to all our
- 3:46sort. All he's doing when he comes up
- 3:48with a good thought and a good shot in the camera and good
- 3:52piece of advice, all that all he's doing is utilizing his
- 3:56nature that Shang gave him Kehof shemagh be allahuf Vishuddha
- 4:01bobbak like a bird who lives up his wings to fly because that's
- 4:04the nature via short of Moshebakho and like an accident
- 4:07pulls with power. The Vishu Hokho came because
- 4:10that's his strength, Mishu Hakamu that he should have.
- 4:14All my Viola is that when someone is wise, it's the nature
- 4:17that God gave him that he's expressing, and he shouldn't
- 4:20therefore feel very good about himself, as if he's doing
- 4:22something that's out of the ordinary.
- 4:24He's doing something that's for him, and his current situation
- 4:27is ordinary. What's wrong with feeling good
- 4:29about the fact that you have a good idea?
- 4:31What is wrong with feeling very proud of the fact that he came
- 4:34up with a good shot? The problem is that you think
- 4:38that you're doing more than what's normal.
- 4:40When a person believes that he came up with some crazy wild
- 4:43idea and it's all him and it's something that's supernatural,
- 4:47right? The problem is it leads him to
- 4:50believe that he's an extraordinary person.
- 4:52And the moment a person starts to believe that they're
- 4:55extraordinary, they are. They're very gifted.
- 4:56They have a lot of gifts. That's all I should have given.
- 4:59But the moment you start thinking you're extraordinary in
- 5:01any area, that's when it gets to your head and that's you lose
- 5:05touch and you lose being grounded to reality if you want
- 5:08to remain. There's a very interesting fact
- 5:10that I notice with people, a lot of the biggest celebrities out
- 5:13there in the world, right when you see them in an interview,
- 5:17you seem very personable. They reveal to you the food that
- 5:20they eat and the relationships that they have and the things,
- 5:23the thoughts that go through their mind.
- 5:25They seem very personable. Then if you would ever meet them
- 5:28in person, you know, meet them in person.
- 5:31I gave you an example of one of the best basketball players of
- 5:33all time as a good example of this.
- 5:35I recently saw an interview of him and he seems very relatable
- 5:39relatively, you know, cute and light and normal.
- 5:42However, if anyone's ever met this man in person, and I've
- 5:45heard of people who have met him, he's as distant as distant
- 5:48gets. So how does that work, that when
- 5:50they are interviewed and when they're sitting and talking,
- 5:54they have personal things going on in their life.
- 5:56They seem like they're normal, they seem grounded, and then in
- 5:58actual reality, they're on a cloud.
- 6:01They have nothing to do with reality.
- 6:03How does that work, right? In fact, the only way they're
- 6:06able to give an interview is if they are relatable.
- 6:08Otherwise no one would be interested.
- 6:09So they're very relatable, but they're also very distant.
- 6:12The answer is very simple. They have the ability to be
- 6:14relatable like anybody else. That's the ability.
- 6:17But they start to think that these gifts that they have,
- 6:20whatever the gifts are, their physical ability, their wealth,
- 6:23whatever it may be, they start to think that that makes them a
- 6:26random day and makes them elevated, different, more than
- 6:31normal. Therefore, they can't talk to
- 6:33regular people. When they sit down for an
- 6:35interview to be a human being, they can step into the human
- 6:38role, but on a regular day of life, they are living in their
- 6:42minds, they're above human and that's how they carry
- 6:45themselves. So you can be a person like you.
- 6:46You could be a person who has great advice.
- 6:49You're a person who has life experience, you have great
- 6:51wisdom, but at the same time, you think that you're smart with
- 6:54your wisdom and you can be both very relatable with your wisdom.
- 6:58When I talk to you one-on-one and I ask you your opinion and
- 7:01at the same time you're aloof, you're gone, you're above the
- 7:06clouds because you don't, because you're, you're
- 7:08arrogance. A person's arrogance by his
- 7:10belief that he has these gifts makes him above normal.
- 7:14And that's the danger. This is how life is what any
- 7:17person who's gifted, whether it be wisdom, Hohmann Torah,
- 7:22whether it be he's very gifted with wealth, very gifted with
- 7:26physical talent. He's a very quick guy, he's a
- 7:29smart guy, he's a connected guy. All these things can make this
- 7:32person that's sometimes extreme relatable if he brings it to you
- 7:36and if he's not interested in delivering it to you because he
- 7:38wants to think that these are his gifts and he's not really
- 7:40doesn't know you that all of a sudden he becomes a person who's
- 7:43so much above the way he carries himself and he's not even down
- 7:47to earth. He's not here.
- 7:48This is the the trop that any person with gifts falls into,
- 7:52but a person should realize that whenever they have those gifts,
- 7:56you're just flexing your muscles and the same way you can walk
- 8:00with your two legs and you can move something with your hands.
- 8:04You couldn't come up with a great idea of advice with the
- 8:06might that God gave you. You see that you remain exactly
- 8:10as human as any person. The whole idea of a person thing
- 8:14into themselves and I am above somebody else because the
- 8:18talents that I have is silly, because those talents that
- 8:21God-given, like God gave him an arm, God gave him a mind, God
- 8:25gave him the money, God gave him the wisdom, and he's just
- 8:27flexing the muscles that Hashem gave him.
- 8:30Where is the room for our rhythm?
- 8:32There is no room. That's the idea.
- 8:34He says like this. If your friend had your wisdom,
- 8:43I gave, your friend had right there.
- 8:44If your friend had your mental gifts, he'd be thinking the
- 8:47exact same way. So where your talent came from,
- 8:50it came from the gifts. Hashem gave another person a
- 8:54gift if your friend had that gift to be in the exact same
- 8:57ability to think the exact same thoughts.
- 8:59So where is the area to be proud of yourself?
- 9:02Hayalo sekhrotivi kamu hayam, it's kahim.
- 9:05Kamoshin, it's kahimu. He would act as wise as you're
- 9:08acting in Ken and Khan let nassve let go out.
- 9:13There's no room to be elevated and arrogant.
- 9:16El I'm Yeshmar ABBA. If you have a lot of wisdom, he
- 9:22needs to utilize that wisdom to help other people.
- 9:27Says if you if you learned a lot of don't be proud of yourself.
- 9:40That's why you were created. You learned a lot of you feel
- 9:43like you did it all. Come on.
- 9:45I went to class, I put a lot of effort in.
- 9:48I sat there, I learned. I told no, no, no, you, you did
- 9:53your job. That's all it is all it is.
- 9:55You did your job. And a person has to realize
- 9:57this. The reason, right?
- 9:59That's not even a bound environment, right?
- 10:04The reason the person has to realize this is because a lot of
- 10:08times people in their mind get confused to believe and they
- 10:13created this certain specific gift.
- 10:15If I asked you, you have a certain talent where they come
- 10:19from, of course you'll attempt to be humble and say it came
- 10:21from my teachers and my parents, etcetera.
- 10:24People that effort into it, right?
- 10:25You put in the time, you did the work, you learned to trade, you
- 10:30spoke to people, you slipped and fell, you created, you went
- 10:33through some mistakes until you figured it out.
- 10:36Now you know what to do because you got used to it, but in your
- 10:39mind, you're thinking to yourself, how can I be expected
- 10:42to believe that's a God-given talent when it's a personal
- 10:45talent? I did so much work.
- 10:47And his point is everything that you did to get you to that
- 10:51point, we're all different gifts of Hashem.
- 10:54They were all different moves that Hashem was making to lead
- 10:57you to this point. So for example, let's say you
- 11:00have a, a wisdom in Toronto in a certain area, right?
- 11:02So you think to yourself, 25 years of learning, 10 years of
- 11:06learning. That's why I have this wisdom.
- 11:07That's why I know the that's why I know how to answer that
- 11:10question. My learning, OK, now it's very
- 11:14good. And if you feel very good about
- 11:16yourself that you learned that that's a true point, but play it
- 11:18up. God gave you those parents how
- 11:21to learn. He gave you those teachers.
- 11:24He gave you those schools. He gave you those schools.
- 11:26He gave you connect to this community gave you thank to that
- 11:30Rabbi that this that the other thing so as gifted as you may be
- 11:34in your wisdom, every single step of the way was Hashem
- 11:39guiding you to make you this wise.
- 11:42And if you look at it the wrong way you think to yourself, I
- 11:44have 25 steps of greatness. They all were man made.
- 11:47You look at the right way you honestly yourself and you say I
- 11:49have 25 steps of greatness. They all God made and if a
- 11:52person sees the wrong way, it can be an elevated arrogant and
- 11:55distant. He sees the right way, humble,
- 11:58relatable and connected because he knows where it came from.
- 12:02And if you can look at your life and look at your past and look
- 12:04at your upbringing and look at everything that you have and you
- 12:07could see one of two ways you can see it like I put in all
- 12:10that effort. I created this right.
- 12:12The term man made wealth. People love to use the term.
- 12:17He's a self-made man, right? self-made is the biggest joke
- 12:21there is. self-made means yes, he made a move.
- 12:24He took a risk clear. He didn't make a decision.
- 12:29My brook very nice. Hashem created that decision.
- 12:32Hashem gave him that opportunity to be.
- 12:34God put him in that position. God gave him the idea to make
- 12:38that commitment. God gave him the comfort to not
- 12:41be nervous, to take that leap of faith.
- 12:44God put him in a financial position to have some bad,
- 12:46something bad to fall back on, just in case it falters.
- 12:49All those things that you're placed in, you can see it like
- 12:52you created the world or you can see it like you're just walking
- 12:56along Hashem's path. It can be that clear of a
- 12:59difference and the difference in the outcome of who you are is
- 13:04major. Because if you want to remain
- 13:06grounded and relatable and normal to the next guy and be
- 13:11able to look at the next person in the face and talk, and I'm
- 13:13like a regular person, recognize that you're walking along God's
- 13:16path. That's all it is.
- 13:19You have to see it this way. Otherwise you can't be a normal
- 13:21parent. Otherwise you can't be there for
- 13:23a person when they're struggling because they're going to come to
- 13:26you and they're going to say business is rough, right?
- 13:29And the business that for you one time was rough too, right
- 13:32now, thank God your mind is not. And you're going to try to tell
- 13:35them, listen, the ups and downs, the heaven flows.
- 13:39Life has its things, right? You want to talk to, to look at
- 13:43you like you're talking from Mars.
- 13:44What do you, what do you know about ups and downs and absent
- 13:47flows? You kidding me, right?
- 13:49You, you thank God, you're blessed, you talking to me if
- 13:52you talking to me, if you realize and you carry yourself
- 13:56with the true reality of the fact that you are just someone
- 14:00swinging, swimming alone. And Hashem's if you're really
- 14:04honest with yourself and thank God, you're talking to them in a
- 14:06situation you're right now you're up, but you realize it's
- 14:09only up because Hashem put me in a position and you could talk to
- 14:12them. You can be relatable.
- 14:14You can be blessed 10 times and they could have nothing.
- 14:17But you can talk at that wavelength because you know that
- 14:20you and them are the same. You are handling it in a certain
- 14:23way, Thank God. And yes, you made the right
- 14:25decisions with Hashem leading you down that road, but it's all
- 14:29gone if you perceive it that way.
- 14:32You're relatable in every area a guy comes to you from marriage
- 14:36advice, right answer. Your penis are in marriage name
- 14:40and by Al Kashyap, you're in a good position in that area and
- 14:43they are struggling mightily and and you're talking to them and
- 14:47you're making it seem like, oh, what I did was at 25 years old,
- 14:51I made this move and I was 35. I made sure never to say this to
- 14:55my wife. And at 40 I said this and you
- 14:57kind of all the stick and all the planning and all the ideas.
- 15:01If you say it the wrong way, you're 0.
- 15:05You're the effect you're going to have is hollow, zero effect.
- 15:09I know effect. I made moves that were very
- 15:12effective for my marriage. I did a good job.
- 15:14How come we have no effect? He can have no effect because I
- 15:18did this and I did that and I know what to do here.
- 15:21Those are all mistakes of the wording.
- 15:23You do nothing, you can't help with nothing.
- 15:26Hashem gave you an idea to be humble here.
- 15:28God gave you the right wife to accept this or another wife
- 15:32would not accept it. God gave you a certain position
- 15:35that your wife is already calmer in life, she doesn't need as
- 15:37much from you, whatever it may be.
- 15:39You do nothing. You tried, you tried.
- 15:42I would credit you for trying. I'm very impersonal.
- 15:44You're trying, it's good job and you get credit for being a good
- 15:47husband, not taking away from you.
- 15:48But don't believe that you let yourself.
- 15:51Exactly. Don't believe that you created
- 15:53this. The moment a person thinks they
- 15:55created it is a moment they lose the room.
- 15:58That's how it works. They lose the room with advice
- 16:00and business advice and marriage and raising children.
- 16:04When you talk, you could talk to a person who raised the greatest
- 16:07children and you go to them for advice and children.
- 16:11And of course, they raise great children, so they're a great
- 16:14place to go to for advice, right?
- 16:16Wrong. Not at all true.
- 16:19Just because they raised great children, it does not mean they
- 16:22know what they're talking about at all.
- 16:23All right. That's the reality.
- 16:26I've seen it. You could have people who raise
- 16:27the greatest children and they have no clue.
- 16:30Women have no clue. The answer is somewhere along
- 16:32the line, yes, they did a great job and it was God-given and
- 16:35they they did the right things. Somewhere along the line in
- 16:38their mind, they thought, you know why I have this great
- 16:41children? Must be I made that move and
- 16:44that move and that move and that they are doing hindsight 2020.
- 16:49They're seeing in their eyes the shot and their great children,
- 16:53forgetting that the shot really was Hashem and yes, Hashem LED
- 16:56them to make the right decisions for great children.
- 16:58But it was still Hashem when they made that blur and their
- 17:02hindsight are looking back at their great children and saying
- 17:04this is I know why it came Lawson, it's over.
- 17:08I can't hear from you. Nothing to say.
- 17:10What do you mean to have the greatest children?
- 17:11Shouldn't I be able to learn from them?
- 17:13Zero. There's nothing there to learn
- 17:16from. If they believe that they
- 17:18created and there's everything they had to learn from people
- 17:20who have great children, if they absorb the fact that it's
- 17:24God-given, including the fact that Hashem gave them ideas to
- 17:27make the right moves a fit for those children, that too is
- 17:30God-given. And this is to be in the back of
- 17:33your mind, whatever He is saying, a single solitary word
- 17:36to another person. Recognize the fact that
- 17:39everything you've done so far has been Hashem leading you on
- 17:42the way. If you recognize that, you're
- 17:44the greatest source of advice. If you don't, then your
- 17:47experience means zero. That's how far it goes, right?
- 17:51And that creates the difference between being elevated and
- 17:53distant and humble, down to earth, relatable, and a great
- 17:59source of experience. You can be a great source of
- 18:01experience because you do have experience and you didn't make
- 18:04decisions and you did have ebbs and flows and you did make the
- 18:07right moves. You have great experience, but
- 18:09you have great experience because you realize where it
- 18:11came from. Now that you think I did this
- 18:14and I did that, I did the other thing.
- 18:16All right, I'll give you one last example, a sports example
- 18:19which comes on I might some out the greatest players of all time
- 18:24came into the leagues as extremely humble people, let's
- 18:29say undrafted or drafted very late or those examples.
- 18:34And if you would go to them then, if you go to them then and
- 18:37ask them their opinion about things, grounded, light, easy,
- 18:42relatable, cute, nice, all the qualities.
- 18:47Now talk to them. Now I did this and I did that.
- 18:51And when I made that move, when it was the training, it was the
- 18:54what happened when you lose it, you lost the connection when you
- 18:58inserted the word I, when you started to see your success as a
- 19:01reflection of your own making. Let's be very real, Mr. If the
- 19:05other guy doesn't get injured, you never get that chance.
- 19:08You never get that chance. We never heard your name and
- 19:11you're the same 0 instead, now you're worth a billion dollars
- 19:15because the other guy got injured and you got your chance.
- 19:17Did you put in the effort? Sure.
- 19:19But it's all God-given talent. That's all God-given situation.
- 19:22We have to realize that in every area of success, we are as
- 19:25distant to our real success as that guy was from becoming the
- 19:30greatest player of all time. Needing that injury together.
- 19:34All right, let's start with this.
