- 0:03Speaker 1: Some housekeeping at the top. Okay, a couple of things.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Todd father, First, I know you've been thinking about this
- 0:08Speaker 1: for weeks. You have new items at foul Territory shop
- 0:13Speaker 1: dot com that include baby onesies, baby t shirts, the
- 0:18Speaker 1: whole deal. I know you guys make fun of me
- 0:21Speaker 1: for wearingish medium. This is a size that I actually
- 0:23Speaker 1: won't wear for babies, okay, not for adults trying to
- 0:28Speaker 1: look too tight in their shirts.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Are you you telling us something or.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I was just getting ahead of just making sure the
- 0:36Speaker 1: potential shot fired. It's what I'm gonna's not on. So
- 0:40Speaker 1: you guys are a little nicer than me.
- 0:42Speaker 3: It's what I'm gonna get. It's what I'm gonna get
- 0:45Speaker 3: Todd when I'm finished wiping up with him on the court,
- 0:48Speaker 3: because he's gonna be my baby.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Listen, you might be big and everything else, well you
- 0:58Speaker 2: have no no rhythm, you have no footwork or for enough.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It's okay, I can't wait to see these baby onesies.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I gotta be honest with you. I'm really excited about this.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Do this for me while we're talking. Just go go
- 1:09Speaker 1: type in foul Territory Shop or the QR code. Either way,
- 1:16Speaker 1: you want to go, yeah, do that, and then check
- 1:20Speaker 1: that out while you're doing that. One other thing I
- 1:22Speaker 1: would like to point out before we charge. We have
- 1:25Speaker 1: been working hard behind the scenes, the team behind the
- 1:27Speaker 1: scenes on the look of the show. Right now, it
- 1:31Speaker 1: looks really nice. I like the name the foul line
- 1:34Speaker 1: for the bottom line of the show. You've got team
- 1:38Speaker 1: leaderboard standings, player leaders, little player profile photos. It's it's
- 1:46Speaker 1: really nice, very nice.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, for sure. The little kids look,
- 1:53Speaker 2: they look cute. And these they're nice, good call. I
- 1:55Speaker 2: like the water bottle, the water bottles stand less steal
- 1:58Speaker 2: water bottles for real. Oh my god.
- 2:03Speaker 1: There are some nice items, so everyone check it out.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Foul Territory shop dot com. Let's charge, Let's charge. Do
- 2:14Speaker 1: we have a controversy? You know what, Kratz. There are
- 2:19Speaker 1: some people that are going to be jealous of showy
- 2:21Speaker 1: Otani and of the Dodgers, and no matter what they do,
- 2:25Speaker 1: they're going to say it's unfair. So George Springer had
- 2:28Speaker 1: a little combo with Umpire yesterday and many people took
- 2:32Speaker 1: it as him complaining to say that Otani was taking
- 2:36Speaker 1: too long and getting extra time. Apparently that was not
- 2:40Speaker 1: the case. Ken Rosenthal did some homework on that, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: he explained it at the top of fair territory. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: think there are some people that feel as if Otani
- 2:48Speaker 1: gets his own rules. But in this particular case, if
- 2:53Speaker 1: we went back, what five years ago to a National
- 2:56Speaker 1: League pitcher needing a beat, we would have given it
- 2:59Speaker 1: to him.
- 3:01Speaker 3: That's where it's fine. I mean, but you can't you
- 3:04Speaker 3: can't say they're not They're They're completely innocent of a
- 3:09Speaker 3: shootany getting rules, Like the Dodgers do get an extra pitcher,
- 3:14Speaker 3: I mean an extra player on their roster essentially because
- 3:16Speaker 3: they can get an extra pitcher because of the sho
- 3:19Speaker 3: Heotani rule, which just the whole schematics of it doesn't
- 3:23Speaker 3: really allow any other team to do it unless you
- 3:26Speaker 3: get I think the threshold's like fifty innings or thirty
- 3:29Speaker 3: innings or something like that, which is which is really
- 3:32Speaker 3: tough to crew. So you're you're almost like hamstringing yourself
- 3:35Speaker 3: until that moment if another team can do it. But look,
- 3:39Speaker 3: if a guy's on the basis, we're so far removed
- 3:42Speaker 3: from the dh not being in the America, not being
- 3:45Speaker 3: in the National League anymore. Like if a pitcher's on base.
- 3:49Speaker 3: You're not gonna be like, Hey, come on, time's up now.
- 3:52Speaker 3: If he's not on base, Yes, he has to abide
- 3:55Speaker 3: by the same rules, but I think you know you
- 3:59Speaker 3: would always get that picture. The extra time. Is Show
- 4:03Speaker 3: Hey pushing it a little bit? Hey? That's part of
- 4:06Speaker 3: the whole like competitive part, Like is this fair or
- 4:09Speaker 3: is this not fair?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Scott? Can you can you explain to us the show
- 4:13Speaker 2: Hey rules so everybody can understand for like the listeners
- 4:16Speaker 2: out there, like some people are probably what are we
- 4:18Speaker 2: talking about? Explain to them first and then I'll get
- 4:20Speaker 2: to my point if you don't mind.
- 4:22Speaker 1: No, I don't want to. I'm kidding.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Uh.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The show Hey o Tani rule has to do with
- 4:29Speaker 1: the fact that show Hey does not tax you on
- 4:33Speaker 1: a picture count because he's designated as a two way player.
- 4:36Speaker 1: And what some people think is unfair is that it
- 4:39Speaker 1: gives the Dodgers technically an extra picture to use. Anyone
- 4:43Speaker 1: can use the show Hey rule. You just need a
- 4:46Speaker 1: Show Hey on your team. There happens to be no
- 4:48Speaker 1: Show Hey on your team. Krats, What else do you
- 4:50Speaker 1: want to add for my elementary example here?
- 4:53Speaker 3: No, No, it's perfect explanation except the threshold was the
- 4:57Speaker 3: threshold was too much. I think major League Baseball could
- 5:00Speaker 3: look at it. If they're really interested in having guys
- 5:02Speaker 3: that are two way players. Teams could explore. The Royals
- 5:07Speaker 3: could explore with Jack Caglione, but to a mass, thirty
- 5:12Speaker 3: innings is going to be so tough to me. I
- 5:15Speaker 3: think there's a value there. I think there would be
- 5:17Speaker 3: some kind of intrigue if Caglione can come in out
- 5:21Speaker 3: of the not bullpen, out of the outfield and throw
- 5:25Speaker 3: one hundred miles an hour from the left side and they
- 5:27Speaker 3: only need to accrue maybe ten innings, and then maybe
- 5:30Speaker 3: that would be a little bit more feasible. But they
- 5:34Speaker 3: essentially made it out of reach for everybody, which was
- 5:38Speaker 3: probably their thought process, so that teams wouldn't manipulate this.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so my question about though, it's not about time
- 5:48Speaker 2: like people you're seeing spring or you're seeing guys upset
- 5:51Speaker 2: about how long he's taken. There's no rule against time, right.
- 5:56Speaker 1: No, there is a rule against time there everywhere on
- 6:00Speaker 1: our game. But gets a longer clock because he's pitching,
- 6:05Speaker 1: So yeah, okay.
- 6:08Speaker 2: He gets he gets more time when it comes to him,
- 6:11Speaker 2: he gets more time. So there's no rules for him
- 6:14Speaker 2: because if he's on the base pass, he got to
- 6:15Speaker 2: come in. He gets a little more time. I'm I'm
- 6:18Speaker 2: saying that right.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Right, yes, yes.
- 6:21Speaker 2: So he gets more time and players are getting frustrated,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and ultimately, you know, would I be that guy to
- 6:28Speaker 2: getting frustrated? Yeah, when I played, I'd be like, hey,
- 6:30Speaker 2: what are we doing here? You know? And that's just
- 6:31Speaker 2: part of the back and forth banter and baseball, And
- 6:34Speaker 2: I don't think anybody should be getting frustrated over about it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I don't think anybody should be getting like, hey, man,
- 6:40Speaker 2: what do the Who do the Blue Jays think they are?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Who the Dodgers think they are? This is the back
- 6:44Speaker 2: and forth battle between players between staffs. And if I'm
- 6:48Speaker 2: Sho Tani and I want more time, I'm gonna take
- 6:50Speaker 2: as much time as I can until I feel like
- 6:52Speaker 2: I'm ready to go out there, until an umpire comes up, Hey, hey,
- 6:57Speaker 2: let's go here. You know what I'm saying. I will
- 6:59Speaker 2: exude that all day, every day, And if I'm a
- 7:02Speaker 2: player on the other side, I'm yelling at the umpire,
- 7:04Speaker 2: hey what are we doing here? So again, who's in
- 7:08Speaker 2: the wrong. I don't think anybody's in the wrong. I
- 7:10Speaker 2: just think, Hey, that's the game a ship of baseball. Like, listen,
- 7:14Speaker 2: he might be tired, but get his behind up there.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Let's go. I want a tired show, hey, instead of
- 7:19Speaker 2: a guy that's enlightened and ready to rock. That's the
- 7:21Speaker 2: only thing I got to say about that part.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Hey, we're here, let's talk about segeek. Todd Father knows
- 7:28Speaker 1: what's up. Over thirty five million downloads. It's the number
- 7:31Speaker 1: one rateed ticketing app. It's Territory ten for ten percent
- 7:34Speaker 1: off tickets. It's the green is good, it's the red
- 7:36Speaker 1: is bad on there, and we've let everyone know exactly
- 7:40Speaker 1: what they should be looking for within the app, how
- 7:42Speaker 1: they can get the discount. But what we should do
- 7:45Speaker 1: nice and fresh today is see if there's a game
- 7:47Speaker 1: that we should pick out for everyone. I mean, it's Thursday,
- 7:50Speaker 1: there's not a ton of action. But have about tonight.
- 7:52Speaker 1: We got three tonight, Todd Father, you got White Sox
- 7:55Speaker 1: and Royals. I know where you're going. We got Diamondbacks
- 7:59Speaker 1: and Mets at warda read Rigez against Nolan McLain and
- 8:01Speaker 1: then the Rockies are in San Diego. Don't sleep on
- 8:04Speaker 1: Randy Vazquez. By the way, and how much he's changed
- 8:08Speaker 1: as a pitcher, and it was like a number seven
- 8:10Speaker 1: starter and now kind of looks like a number three
- 8:13Speaker 1: starter for the Padres. But anyway, I know where you're going.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go to I mean,
- 8:21Speaker 2: the Yankee game already started, So I'm gonna head the
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'm gonna go to Queens. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm
- 8:25Speaker 2: gonna tell you quite a little subway ride the Queens.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna watch the Diamondbacks by the Mets. Who's gonna squander?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Who's gonna win that series? Say when Nol mcclan's got
- 8:35Speaker 2: that sweet or that nasty pitch. So Diamondbacks found a
- 8:38Speaker 2: way to win yesterday and we'll see Bundle up. It's
- 8:41Speaker 2: gonna be a little nippy up here tonight. Uh it is.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It's been really freaking cold this week. We are back
- 8:50Speaker 1: to winter weather in New York City area. The code
- 8:53Speaker 1: for you is Territory one zero ten percent off your
- 8:56Speaker 1: next set of tickets at seat Geek. With that promo
- 8:59Speaker 1: code makes you the link in the description to download
- 9:01Speaker 1: the app and have the code automatically added to your
- 9:03Speaker 1: account so you can use it later, and I.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Don't think they need to put rules around it, like, oh,
- 9:10Speaker 3: you know, he was running the bases. There's two outs.
- 9:12Speaker 3: If there's less than three pitches to the next batter,
- 9:15Speaker 3: then he needs a break. Like but I think there
- 9:18Speaker 3: is some letting, letting the umpires police this and being like, hey,
- 9:23Speaker 3: we got to get this out here. But also you're
- 9:25Speaker 3: going to get a note from Major League Baseball if
- 9:27Speaker 3: you rush the show. Hey, out to the mound and
- 9:31Speaker 3: something happens to him. Last thing we ever wont is injuries.
- 9:34Speaker 3: But you can't cater to one player. So I think
- 9:37Speaker 3: it's like, like like what Todd said, it is a
- 9:42Speaker 3: it is gamesmanship on both sides. And if I'm Dave Roberts,
- 9:46Speaker 3: I'm sticking up for my player no matter what. I
- 9:48Speaker 3: don't even care if he doesn't hit yeah at all
- 9:51Speaker 3: in that inning or the last two innings. My guy
- 9:54Speaker 3: can sit on if I can use that, and he
- 9:56Speaker 3: needs that rest. He needs that time. Absolutely, you take
- 9:59Speaker 3: your time.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Dave Robert Yeah, I'm gonna give you a funny example.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'm at a high school game today, literally ten am game,
- 10:08Speaker 2: and this is so far from Major League Baseball, but
- 10:11Speaker 2: it's funny as all hell. I'm at a high school
- 10:13Speaker 2: game today. Kids round in third base gets thrown out
- 10:16Speaker 2: by a lot I'm looking at my brother. It's my
- 10:18Speaker 2: nephew's game, and the kid wasn't running. I'm like, something's
- 10:21Speaker 2: wrong with this kid. So they go to him. They
- 10:24Speaker 2: can't play the kid. I guess he hurt himself, his
- 10:27Speaker 2: ankle or something. It's been like five minutes now, nobody's
- 10:30Speaker 2: going to left field in the position. Ten minutes after,
- 10:34Speaker 2: we see the kid coming out of the john and
- 10:36Speaker 2: I guess he was going to the bathroom. He comes
- 10:38Speaker 2: out and the parents are screening. Bro, you gotta go
- 10:40Speaker 2: play left field. He goes, I can't even take a
- 10:43Speaker 2: dump let alone, you know, enjoy the game. So the
- 10:46Speaker 2: kid had to run out, pinch it go in the
- 10:48Speaker 2: left field. My man took his good old time in
- 10:51Speaker 2: the bathroom there, and he had no clue what was
- 10:52Speaker 2: going on. I just thought it was pretty funny. That's
- 10:55Speaker 2: just baseball. One oh one, I got it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: They gave him. They gave him a five minute bathroom
- 10:59Speaker 1: break during the game.
- 11:01Speaker 2: No, the inning ended and the dude was in the bathroom.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Oh he was still in And then they were waiting
- 11:06Speaker 1: for him.
- 11:07Speaker 2: He had no clue that he was supposed to go
- 11:09Speaker 2: to left field because the dude got hurt. It was
- 11:11Speaker 2: just it was a spectacle. Everybody was laughing, Hey, what
- 11:15Speaker 2: are you gonna do? I'mpire waiting until he got out.
- 11:17Speaker 2: That was nice.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Never, I would never poop during a game. There's not
- 11:20Speaker 3: a chance. All poop. Always got scared back in Oh
- 11:25Speaker 3: when I was when I was in the game, because
- 11:27Speaker 3: there's unless I was sick, Like I was, tell him, sick, sick,
- 11:30Speaker 3: you are not pooping in the game, No chance because
- 11:33Speaker 3: of that. Like I'm worried. I'm sweating for that kid.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I people know me. I had a big incident when
- 11:40Speaker 2: I was nine years old, ten years old, and it
- 11:43Speaker 2: ran down my leg and thank god we have black
- 11:45Speaker 2: pants on the My coach said, Todd, you're coming in
- 11:47Speaker 2: the pitch. I said, oh my god. I did one
- 11:50Speaker 2: warm up pitch. Next pitch, a kid had a triple
- 11:53Speaker 2: three runs. I ran to the bathroom. Everybody's crying because
- 11:56Speaker 2: we're out of the All Stars. I was just glad
- 11:58Speaker 2: to get out of there and get all that off
- 12:01Speaker 2: of nightmare or night mere as.
- 12:04Speaker 1: You said, nightmre.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Well, Yes, that was It was just fun. Stuff that
- 12:10Speaker 2: happens that people remember, like, yeah, guy had to go
- 12:13Speaker 2: to the bathroom. Give him it's time. Okay, show Hey
- 12:16Speaker 2: wants an extra minute or two. Other team's going to
- 12:19Speaker 2: be pissed, but Dodgers are going to have his back.
- 12:21Speaker 2: That's all good stuff, right.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So, like I was saying, show Hay pitched well, that
- 12:26Speaker 1: team ultimately lost it as a comeback win for the
- 12:29Speaker 1: Blue Jays, and Otani said that he wasn't feeling great
- 12:32Speaker 1: on the mound. That makes you think are the Dodgers worried?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Are they going to try and slow play it even
- 12:38Speaker 1: more than the once a week or so start. We
- 12:41Speaker 1: do have Doc Roberts sound I do want to just
- 12:43Speaker 1: sneak that in here.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Real quick too, you know what I think?
- 12:48Speaker 4: Just talking about the World Series, obviously they were a
- 12:50Speaker 4: little frustrated about, you know how long show Hey takes,
- 12:53Speaker 4: you know, emmy twin innings. But if he's on the basis,
- 12:56Speaker 4: you know, there's got to be some grace, which I
- 12:58Speaker 4: think the umpires trying to give him. But yeah, I mean,
- 13:01Speaker 4: if you're on the other side, you're trying to rush
- 13:03Speaker 4: him as much as possible and treat him like any
- 13:06Speaker 4: other pitcher. But you know, the truth is is that
- 13:09Speaker 4: he's different and so but I understand that they're they're right, Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 4: and for.
- 13:15Speaker 1: The days, they were able to stamp a six game
- 13:17Speaker 1: losing skid, so they'll take whatever I mean. Flatty Junior
- 13:21Speaker 1: was celebrating after the game two hands up, like, gosh,
- 13:25Speaker 1: we've had a week Otani. This is the quote. If
- 13:28Speaker 1: you're looking at it. I'm not going to read the
- 13:29Speaker 1: whole thing, but you know, he was not pleased with
- 13:32Speaker 1: his performance, despite the run prevention results looking pretty good.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He said, there was fatigue from consecutive games on the road,
- 13:41Speaker 1: so take it for what it is. The Only thing
- 13:43Speaker 1: that I'm thinking about is does show, hey, Otani make
- 13:46Speaker 1: enough starts to win a cy Young Award. When you
- 13:49Speaker 1: hear a postgame comment like that, and I feel like
- 13:51Speaker 1: he's pretty straightforward, I'm concerned. I think they will be
- 13:56Speaker 1: a point or two this season where the Dodgers try
- 13:58Speaker 1: and ease off him, even more so than they already
- 14:01Speaker 1: are doing with the rest days. With all of that
- 14:03Speaker 1: being said, I just think it's going to be difficult
- 14:05Speaker 1: for him. I know that. I said, I think he
- 14:07Speaker 1: has a chance, but Kratz, he's going to create I
- 14:10Speaker 1: think quite a whole now MVP, as long as he
- 14:13Speaker 1: stays healthy, Locke, that's an auto. We don't even really
- 14:16Speaker 1: need to waste time on that. But Si Young to
- 14:18Speaker 1: me is interesting. That's a bucket list goal for him.
- 14:21Speaker 1: But it's just going to be difficult as the age
- 14:24Speaker 1: gets higher in number, with the injury history, where the
- 14:28Speaker 1: Dodgers are as a team, they don't desperately need thirty
- 14:31Speaker 1: stars out of him, They'll take twenty.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Come on, Dodgers fans, Come on, Dodgers fans, Bring it on.
- 14:38Speaker 3: He's not gonna win a sy Young. And that's okay,
- 14:41Speaker 3: Like I'm not saying he like if he wants to,
- 14:44Speaker 3: he could set his mind to it. He would have
- 14:47Speaker 3: to eliminate something. He would have to eliminate the rest
- 14:51Speaker 3: so that he's ready for the postseason not going to happen.
- 14:54Speaker 3: He would have to eliminate the fact that the Dodgers
- 14:56Speaker 3: could really care less if he wins a cy Young.
- 14:59Speaker 3: He would have to eliminate constantly hitting every single day
- 15:03Speaker 3: because there is a wear and tear. Is that wear
- 15:05Speaker 3: and tear different than other people? Absolutely, And we're talking
- 15:11Speaker 3: about him going from like a number one to a
- 15:17Speaker 3: cy Young award winner, Like we're not talking about him
- 15:19Speaker 3: like stop like not hitting as much so that he
- 15:22Speaker 3: can like become a number one. He's a legitimate number one.
- 15:26Speaker 3: He has the stuff to do it. The whole package
- 15:29Speaker 3: will not allow him to be a cy Young. That's okay,
- 15:33Speaker 3: like that, that is totally fine. I just don't see
- 15:36Speaker 3: it happening because I don't think that Dodgers could care
- 15:39Speaker 3: less if he wins a cy Young or not. And
- 15:41Speaker 3: so he won't get his starts, he won't get his strikeouts,
- 15:45Speaker 3: he won't get his innings. He will get another MVP.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Let me ask you, guys this question. Is is it
- 15:53Speaker 2: safe to say? And I'm hearing it from you, I
- 15:55Speaker 2: think this is your answer. But if he doesn't get
- 15:58Speaker 2: a certain amount of starts, is he still the automatic MVP? Yes,
- 16:06Speaker 2: A Bill you think so?
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yes, Yes, I don't think.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I don't think it's a lock. I don't think it's
- 16:14Speaker 2: a lock if he doesn't, if he's not getting all
- 16:16Speaker 2: those starts. In my opinion, I'm not saying he won't,
- 16:19Speaker 2: but I don't think it's a lock if he's not.
- 16:21Speaker 2: If he's not a two way player and he's just
- 16:23Speaker 2: hitting all of a sudden and not much my opinion.
- 16:26Speaker 3: You have to tell me, you have to tell me who,
- 16:30Speaker 3: what type of season I don't even care what player,
- 16:32Speaker 3: what type of season is going to take a guy that,
- 16:34Speaker 3: let's say he only makes fifteen starts, he's gonna make
- 16:36Speaker 3: way more than fifteen starts, is going to take Shoheo
- 16:40Speaker 3: Tani's MVP award away from him because he's gonna hit.
- 16:44Speaker 3: He's going to hit. He's shown that he did it
- 16:47Speaker 3: as a DH. How many dhs have ever won an
- 16:49Speaker 3: MVP like I think two before that Noe that is
- 16:54Speaker 3: his award. Everyone else is playing for second place.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And I'm not saying you're wrong, and I agree with
- 17:00Speaker 2: you one hundred percent. Kyle Schwarber goes off and gets
- 17:03Speaker 2: fifty and one hundred and thirty. No, okay, I'm just
- 17:08Speaker 2: telling you we got we got guys that could do that.
- 17:11Speaker 2: And I'm only saying this. I'm only saying this. If
- 17:14Speaker 2: he doesn't, all of a sudden, they're like, oh, we're
- 17:16Speaker 2: not going to throw him for a month or two
- 17:18Speaker 2: and let it go, and all of a sudden and
- 17:20Speaker 2: he you know, I'm not saying he won't, but I'm
- 17:23Speaker 2: saying there's guys out there that can all of a
- 17:24Speaker 2: sudden take off and be right there where he is.
- 17:28Speaker 2: But nobody's on his level. Remember that, I don't want
- 17:31Speaker 2: people coming at me. Nobody's on his level. I get it.
- 17:34Speaker 2: But if he's not that white player the whole time,
- 17:36Speaker 2: then then we there's other options that might have, might
- 17:40Speaker 2: very much might have an opportunity.
- 17:42Speaker 1: If they give him a month off and he ends
- 17:44Speaker 1: up with nineteen starts, he's still winning it. Then the
- 17:49Speaker 1: differential that would have to be created with his overall
- 17:53Speaker 1: hitting and pitching stats versus anybody else is so so drastic.
- 17:58Speaker 1: You basically need a and you need an all around player.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I mean, not no knock on shore, but he's just
- 18:04Speaker 1: he's just a DH So that was an easy one
- 18:06Speaker 1: for him last year. But you need like a judge
- 18:08Speaker 1: or a wit to even give it a shot. And
- 18:11Speaker 1: then you need Shohey's number of starts to be pretty
- 18:14Speaker 1: low because you know he's gonna perform. I mean, he's
- 18:16Speaker 1: got a double oer right now or a triple O.
- 18:19Speaker 2: What happens if he doesn't all of a sudden, they
- 18:22Speaker 2: look back now, they go back home and whatever, Like,
- 18:24Speaker 2: hey man, let's see he's up on the thrown. We're
- 18:27Speaker 2: not gonna throw you here. We'll wait till the All
- 18:28Speaker 2: Star But just for saying he's just a hitter now,
- 18:31Speaker 2: is it still is it's still a lock.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yes, still a lock, because then his hitting is then
- 18:36Speaker 3: his hitting is just going to increase. I see his
- 18:39Speaker 3: hitting go down a little bit, but he's unlocked some
- 18:42Speaker 3: different levels with his hitting in the last few years
- 18:44Speaker 3: when he hasn't been the one year where he didn't pitch,
- 18:48Speaker 3: and then last year he came back. I think he
- 18:49Speaker 3: made eighteen starts. He was coming back and rehabbing through that,
- 18:54Speaker 3: so he was still doing other things. If he takes
- 18:56Speaker 3: a month off of pitching, two months off of pitching,
- 19:00Speaker 3: he's still going to hit, and I think it'll elevate
- 19:02Speaker 3: his hitting and then he's going to come back in
- 19:04Speaker 3: the second half and make ten to twelve starts. Obviously,
- 19:07Speaker 3: this is all hypothetical. Nobody's catching them to me. To me,
- 19:12Speaker 3: you're going to have to have like a Ronald Vicuna
- 19:15Speaker 3: or a Corbin Carrol that could go, you know, fifty
- 19:20Speaker 3: to fifty type of season and then Shohey only having
- 19:23Speaker 3: thirty homers and twelve starts. I think may still catch
- 19:28Speaker 3: him like that's that's how much of a difference there
- 19:32Speaker 3: is when you're pitching, when you're starting. It's not like
- 19:35Speaker 3: he's just coming in a bullpen and getting a save
- 19:37Speaker 3: or something, which would still be crazy. Is otherworldly. So
- 19:41Speaker 3: when people, when Major League Baseball players vote for the
- 19:43Speaker 3: best player in the game, I'll say it again, you
- 19:46Speaker 3: guys are idiots.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Idiots.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Okay, Oh, we all knew this was going to happen,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and we're not even ten percent into the season, so
- 19:58Speaker 1: it's definitely going to play out this way for the
- 20:00Speaker 1: rest of the year, amcrats. The National League Central has
- 20:03Speaker 1: more winning teams right now than all of the American League.
- 20:08Speaker 1: The Reds, Brewers, Pirates, and Cardinals are all above the
- 20:11Speaker 1: five hundred mark. In the American League, you have the Yankees,
- 20:15Speaker 1: the Guardians, and the Rangers. This detailed tweet put together
- 20:19Speaker 1: by our friend Bob Nightingale. He also posted last night,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I believe the record right now is forty eight and thirty.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I think he posted, Yeah, the National League demolishing the
- 20:31Speaker 1: American League in matchups at the moment, I mean Central.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Sorry, sorry, everybody in Antal Central is starting to spend money. Sorry,
- 20:40Speaker 3: the Brewers got a Brandon Woodriff, spent a lot of
- 20:44Speaker 3: money on Brandon Woodriff and kind of in free agency
- 20:47Speaker 3: qualifying offer clubs. Clubs are spending money and Central's ruining baseball.
- 20:52Speaker 3: That's it. It's just unfair. They have such an advantage
- 20:55Speaker 3: over everybody else. They don't have as much travel as
- 20:58Speaker 3: the East and West Coast teams. This is gonna that
- 21:01Speaker 3: something needs to change, probably a salary cap.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Actually, in addition to that, what I think they should
- 21:08Speaker 1: do Todd Father, is I think every team needs to
- 21:11Speaker 1: start from the same exact location for their travel. It's
- 21:14Speaker 1: totally unfair. The Midwest travels less, So everybody has to
- 21:17Speaker 1: be in the exact equidistant part of the country wherever
- 21:20Speaker 1: that is, and then you begin your road trips.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Very well, very well said yeah, I listen, there's nothing
- 21:27Speaker 2: you can do. This is how it always happens. The
- 21:30Speaker 2: Pirates come out hot, they'll fizzle, the Brewers are gonna
- 21:34Speaker 2: be up there, and it's in the reds. I mean,
- 21:35Speaker 2: I'm hoping the Cardinals keep cooking. But yeah, it's nice.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I'm not mad about this at all. This is great.
- 21:42Speaker 2: This is great for baseball. Midwest gets a little love.
- 21:46Speaker 2: They get some excitement in there, and listen, we need
- 21:50Speaker 2: all this for baseball too. Get all the teams above
- 21:52Speaker 2: five hundred. Lot of parody here, a lot of parody.
- 21:55Speaker 2: The baseball is starting to come around with you know,
- 21:59Speaker 2: a couple owners starting to spend a little bit more
- 22:01Speaker 2: so that that's the best part about baseball. You spend some,
- 22:04Speaker 2: you get good in return.
- 22:07Speaker 3: On a serious note, this division is going to beat
- 22:11Speaker 3: each other up. I don't think it's going to beat
- 22:12Speaker 3: each other up like the National League East or the
- 22:16Speaker 3: American League East. I think they're going to beat each
- 22:19Speaker 3: other up because they don't have the quintessential doormat that
- 22:24Speaker 3: they've had for years. You look back in the even
- 22:27Speaker 3: in like the two thousands, early two thousands to two
- 22:31Speaker 3: thousand and ten or twelve, when the Astros were in
- 22:34Speaker 3: the Central and the Cardinals would beat up on them.
- 22:37Speaker 3: The Pirates sucked and the Cardinals would beat up on them,
- 22:40Speaker 3: and the Cubs would suck and the Cardinals would beat
- 22:42Speaker 3: up on them. Like there's a change in the NL Central.
- 22:46Speaker 3: The Reds made the playoffs last year. I think the
- 22:48Speaker 3: Reds pitching is too freaking good to not make the playoffs.
- 22:52Speaker 3: That's why I picked them. Even with Hunter Green down
- 22:55Speaker 3: and their offenses starting to come together. You have a
- 22:58Speaker 3: Sal Stewart in that lineup, and then you go over
- 23:00Speaker 3: to the Pirates. They're not going to be a doormat.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Do I think they're a playoff team? No?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Do.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I think they have a scary, scary playoff pitcher in
- 23:07Speaker 3: Paul Skins if they make it. And should that city
- 23:10Speaker 3: get playoffs, Yes, because the freaking fans come out there
- 23:13Speaker 3: and they absolutely love their team, and I couldn't find
- 23:17Speaker 3: a better place to go when they do a blackout
- 23:19Speaker 3: night in the playoffs in Pittsburgh. All that to say,
- 23:23Speaker 3: the favorite for the division was supposed to be the Cubs,
- 23:25Speaker 3: and I think the Cubs are currently they're flags flying
- 23:29Speaker 3: in last place, so this division is so much better.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I think the Cardinals will still end in last place.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I think their pitching is young, and young pitching doesn't
- 23:38Speaker 3: necessarily able to hold up the bullpen. So I think
- 23:41Speaker 3: there's a lot going in on in this division that
- 23:44Speaker 3: hasn't gone on there in the general last five years,
- 23:50Speaker 3: not necessarily last year, but different things are going to
- 23:53Speaker 3: happen in that division that I think will precipitate these
- 23:57Speaker 3: types of like whoa, Okay, these teams are pretty good,
- 24:01Speaker 3: and I think they are pretty good, but I think
- 24:03Speaker 3: the division is just it's laid out differently, and so
- 24:06Speaker 3: it'll be interesting to see how many teams actually finish
- 24:09Speaker 3: above five hundred.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah, And for a good example of how this is
- 24:15Speaker 1: going to average itself out, let's go to the American
- 24:18Speaker 1: League West. Right now, the Seattle Mariners have the worst
- 24:21Speaker 1: record in baseball. They are four and nine. That's not
- 24:25Speaker 1: going to continue. I'll say it again, that's not going
- 24:29Speaker 1: to continue. Take three. That's going I'm just kidding, or
- 24:33Speaker 1: is it now? I do not think it is. The
- 24:35Speaker 1: Rangers are the only team above five hundred in that
- 24:37Speaker 1: division by what a game. But the Astros are one
- 24:40Speaker 1: game under five hundred. The Angels for now are one
- 24:42Speaker 1: game under five hundred. But I want to focus on
- 24:44Speaker 1: Houston for a moment. They just got swept by the
- 24:46Speaker 1: Rockies and they had one of the disaster innings of
- 24:51Speaker 1: the year in terms of injuries. Also, I think they
- 24:53Speaker 1: have a five runs in the inning that we're talking
- 24:55Speaker 1: about here, which is the second inning of that game.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Jake Myers leaves mid at bat hurt. Christian Javier warming
- 25:03Speaker 1: up doesn't appear for that second inning. They had a
- 25:06Speaker 1: feeling something was wrong because I saw j Blue Bob
- 25:08Speaker 1: was warming up in the bullpen for the Astros. But
- 25:12Speaker 1: Javier's dealt with a ton of injury and issues over
- 25:14Speaker 1: the past few years, so now we're at a point
- 25:16Speaker 1: where for him it's right shoulder tightness talking about Xavier,
- 25:20Speaker 1: and its lower back tightness for Jake Myers, and it
- 25:24Speaker 1: adds to an injury list that is racking up for
- 25:27Speaker 1: Houston right now. Positive side of things, as you just
- 25:30Speaker 1: saw on the screen one click before this was Christian Walker,
- 25:34Speaker 1: who's off to a six start best first couple of weeks.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I think that he's had to start a season in
- 25:40Speaker 1: his career, so it looks like maybe he was just
- 25:42Speaker 1: getting his feet wet last year. But overall, Kratz, that
- 25:46Speaker 1: was a nightmare inning for the Astros, and we'll see
- 25:50Speaker 1: how much they can take to their pitching staff. I mean,
- 25:54Speaker 1: Chandler Rome was tweeting during the game yesterday like they're
- 25:57Speaker 1: about to face the Mariners, the division champs them last year,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and I don't know who's pitching in this series coming up.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I mean, that might be fine. If you watched the
- 26:05Speaker 3: Mariners hit right now, So I would definitely just roll
- 26:09Speaker 3: into the series and be like, Okay, we're gonna take
- 26:11Speaker 3: our six era and we're not going to try to
- 26:14Speaker 3: poke the hornet's nest there. Because the Mariners are about
- 26:17Speaker 3: to break out. It could be a bad time for
- 26:19Speaker 3: the Astros to be playing them, but we'll see, we'll see,
- 26:22Speaker 3: because they haven't hit yet. But yes, it's a nightmar.
- 26:26Speaker 3: It's a nightmar for the Astros because they're hitting like
- 26:32Speaker 3: they're crushing it. And how much did they add to
- 26:36Speaker 3: their pitching. They went out and got tattoo you I
- 26:38Speaker 3: who was touted as a yeah, you know, what kind
- 26:43Speaker 3: of contract could this guy get? And then all of
- 26:45Speaker 3: a sudden, the league was like, wait a minute, we're
- 26:47Speaker 3: not sure how much we want to pay for a
- 26:48Speaker 3: guy who essentially has one above average major league pitch
- 26:52Speaker 3: and that's his slider, and he has two big league pitches.
- 26:56Speaker 3: But they don't feel like a two pitch starting pitcher
- 26:59Speaker 3: should be getting more than eighteen million dollars a year.
- 27:01Speaker 3: So he's going to have to take a brunt a
- 27:06Speaker 3: huge part of this load for this team, and the
- 27:09Speaker 3: games are a lot longer for the Astros. I say
- 27:13Speaker 3: that because you had Hater in the in the back
- 27:16Speaker 3: end of the bullpen. And look what happened in September.
- 27:19Speaker 3: This team faded at the end, not because Hater wasn't there,
- 27:22Speaker 3: but because they didn't have that shutdown inning at the
- 27:26Speaker 3: end of every game. All of a sudden, you're playing
- 27:28Speaker 3: eight inning games. It makes it way easier to be
- 27:31Speaker 3: able to figure out six out of your starter, you know,
- 27:34Speaker 3: one out of a bray You, and then you're just
- 27:36Speaker 3: kind of questioning where that eighth inning is going to
- 27:38Speaker 3: come from. Now, all of a sudden, a bray You
- 27:41Speaker 3: has to slide into that role. They may need to
- 27:43Speaker 3: use him a little bit more. And all of a sudden,
- 27:45Speaker 3: your starters aren't going very long and Hunter Brown is down.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Who was your seven inning guy every five days? So yeah,
- 27:53Speaker 3: I'm not saying they're cooked. I'm saying they're in the
- 27:56Speaker 3: spot that they did not want to be in in April,
- 28:00Speaker 3: with how little it did, how very few additions they
- 28:03Speaker 3: made to this pitching staff.
- 28:05Speaker 1: A couple more things to hit in hot corner. First Off,
- 28:07Speaker 1: suspensions were announced soon after our show on Wednesday. But
- 28:12Speaker 1: here's the little caveat Kratz. The seven Games that were
- 28:17Speaker 1: given out to Solayer and to Rinaldo Lopez were immediately
- 28:20Speaker 1: turned into five games for Lopez. He agreed with the
- 28:23Speaker 1: league to knock that down, so they both appealed. I
- 28:26Speaker 1: haven't seen an answer on so Lair yet, but Lopez
- 28:29Speaker 1: reaches that agreement for five AKA, he's not missing a start.
- 28:34Speaker 1: So Grandma Cauley has been on the show before laid
- 28:37Speaker 1: it out for us. You've got Thursday's off day to
- 28:39Speaker 1: reset the rotation and then you can just get right
- 28:43Speaker 1: back to Lopez in less than a week. Wow, they
- 28:47Speaker 1: really punished him. I mean, you lose some money, some
- 28:49Speaker 1: game checks, but that's it.
- 28:52Speaker 3: What are they punishing him for getting charged?
- 28:56Speaker 1: That's They did give him five games though, So it's like,
- 29:00Speaker 1: if you don't believe in him getting punished and don't
- 29:02Speaker 1: give the suspension out, we're going to give a five
- 29:04Speaker 1: game suspension Like it means like what are we doing?
- 29:06Speaker 1: It literally means I know, right, even in cases, here's
- 29:10Speaker 1: the thing. If you think that someone like this should
- 29:13Speaker 1: be suspended, right, krat said, no, I'm not sure where
- 29:16Speaker 1: I'm at. I didn't play, so don't listen to me.
- 29:18Speaker 1: But Todd father, if you think that a starting pitcher
- 29:21Speaker 1: in this situation should have been suspended. Five games doesn't
- 29:25Speaker 1: do anything, No.
- 29:28Speaker 2: It does well. They lose a lot of money, of course,
- 29:30Speaker 2: But for him playing wise, yeah, yeah, I get that
- 29:35Speaker 2: he threw a punch with a baseball in his hand
- 29:37Speaker 2: and actually landed it, so that that deserves the suspension
- 29:42Speaker 2: in my book, Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm not sure
- 29:46Speaker 2: what the right thing is. Take the five days. He'll
- 29:48Speaker 2: be ready to go, and I'm sure he'll be throwing
- 29:51Speaker 2: somewhere and he'll get everything he needs to get done
- 29:54Speaker 2: before his next start. And you know, Celeira probably come
- 29:57Speaker 2: down there. If he gets five, then Cilaire should definitely
- 30:01Speaker 2: get five as well. In my opinion, I disagree with that.
- 30:05Speaker 3: You can't have dudes charging the mound. I get it.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Seven days is seven days is a lot, but you
- 30:10Speaker 3: got to set a precedent. You can't have dudes charge
- 30:12Speaker 3: in the mound. But to me, like you prove major ly.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Baseball proved my point. They gave him five days. It
- 30:20Speaker 3: doesn't matter. Like he's not missing a start, he's not
- 30:22Speaker 3: hurting his team. His actions were not deemed to be
- 30:25Speaker 3: that big of a deal. But they're they're putting the
- 30:28Speaker 3: suspension out there because you know they're to me, it's
- 30:31Speaker 3: just eye watched.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And also just to be clear, so it's five games, right,
- 30:38Speaker 1: so you have the off day Thursday, but then he
- 30:41Speaker 1: already missed Wednesday, so that counted as one game. Then
- 30:43Speaker 1: they got a three gamer this weekend, so that's getting
- 30:46Speaker 1: you to four. Doesn't pitch Monday and he can pitch
- 30:49Speaker 1: on Tuesday.
- 30:52Speaker 3: No, it's five games, five games.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why I said, So it's five games, not
- 30:58Speaker 1: five days. Thursday is an off day for the team,
- 31:02Speaker 1: so he is activated on Tuesday because he accepted that
- 31:06Speaker 1: suspension Wednesday to sit Wednesday. So that gets you going, hey,
- 31:11Speaker 1: let's get this done quickly. And I do remember a
- 31:14Speaker 1: day when this stuff took forever. We'd be waiting on
- 31:16Speaker 1: the appeals, and if it was a reliever, you'd just
- 31:19Speaker 1: wait until the reliever was used twice and then be like, okay,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I'll take the day or two off, thank you. So
- 31:24Speaker 1: that part was stupid, and I'd always wonder why it
- 31:26Speaker 1: took so long during the you know, the delay with
- 31:29Speaker 1: the appeal. But in this case, yeah, he doesn't really
- 31:31Speaker 1: get punished and so Lair does. So for some people
- 31:34Speaker 1: that think so Leir should get punished a lot more.
- 31:36Speaker 1: He is getting punished a lot more. He's getting punished
- 31:38Speaker 1: more than five x more. Raynaldo Lopez is essentially not
- 31:41Speaker 1: getting punished. You can make a case that he maybe
- 31:43Speaker 1: is starting a day later.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Maybe let me ask let me ask you this. Does
- 31:48Speaker 2: he have a day off of those five games? Is
- 31:50Speaker 2: that what you guys were just saying.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well Thursday the braves are off, so that
- 31:55Speaker 1: doesn't count that.
- 31:56Speaker 3: That was my point.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Is he getting paid on that off day because that's
- 31:59Speaker 2: not a day of five games? You know, I mean
- 32:02Speaker 2: that would be six days. Then that he doesn't get
- 32:04Speaker 2: paid you know what I'm saying.
- 32:06Speaker 1: No, but I think you guys get paid on or
- 32:08Speaker 1: you used to get paid on games, right, it's it's
- 32:10Speaker 1: based on games that it was based.
- 32:13Speaker 2: On the one hundred and eighty two days.
- 32:16Speaker 3: I thought, ye, yeah, off days, off days, you do
- 32:19Speaker 3: get paid off days.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Is he not going to get paid that day? Is
- 32:24Speaker 2: what I'm asking. Do they take that off even though
- 32:26Speaker 2: that's not five games?
- 32:28Speaker 3: They would just take five five days of pay off?
- 32:30Speaker 3: They wouldn't.
- 32:31Speaker 2: They wouldn't either way, either way, either way.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Either way, And it doesn't like honestly, all that money
- 32:36Speaker 3: goes to charity anyway. So to me charge the mound,
- 32:40Speaker 3: hit a guy, all that stuff you should get. You know,
- 32:44Speaker 3: your favorite charity just got boosted up. So thank you,
- 32:46Speaker 3: Ronaldo Lopez.
- 32:48Speaker 1: That's right. That part's good. We love that. Here's some
- 32:51Speaker 1: bad news that I thought got almost no attention yesterday,
- 32:54Speaker 1: and I was surprised Zach Eflin is done for the season.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I didn't hear.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Remember, Yeah, it barely got coverage. Kind of weird. He
- 33:03Speaker 1: had successful right elbow UCL preconstruction surgery and this was
- 33:08Speaker 1: yesterday and he's done though.
- 33:10Speaker 2: You know he was.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Getting the elbow checked out, got the surgery. It all
- 33:13Speaker 1: happened pretty quick. And the Orioles lose a starter who
- 33:16Speaker 1: they paid double digit million dollars this year. I mean
- 33:19Speaker 1: that sucks for the oaths. I wasn't knocking the signing
- 33:23Speaker 1: at the time. Kratz, And it's an injury that pops up,
- 33:26Speaker 1: but this would have been a nice guy to eat
- 33:28Speaker 1: some innings for them. Eflyn's I think, got a point
- 33:30Speaker 1: in his career where he's not necessarily going to be
- 33:33Speaker 1: and he's always had some injury issues, right, I mean,
- 33:35Speaker 1: you saw him in Philly. So he's not a one
- 33:38Speaker 1: eighty five one ninety guy, but could have hopefully eaten
- 33:41Speaker 1: up one hundred and fifty innings for the starting rotation.
- 33:43Speaker 1: And he goes down for Baltimore early in the hunt.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough.
- 33:48Speaker 3: That's tough when you bring a guy in that had
- 33:51Speaker 3: twenty eight starts in twenty four, he had thirty one
- 33:55Speaker 3: and twenty three didn't work out. His exact his exact
- 34:00Speaker 3: words were, I wanted to go better in Baltimore. Like
- 34:05Speaker 3: and he's just he's that kind of guy, Like he's
- 34:08Speaker 3: that like gamer type. He has experience of like when
- 34:12Speaker 3: he was with the Phillies, he was a starter's whole career,
- 34:17Speaker 3: got hurt and then when they made that playoff run,
- 34:20Speaker 3: he moved to the bullpen. So you know, he's that like,
- 34:23Speaker 3: he's that guy that's okay doing what it takes. And
- 34:26Speaker 3: I think this team needed that in the offseason. But
- 34:29Speaker 3: I think really what they needed was that top of
- 34:33Speaker 3: the rotation guy to add into what I think Bradish
- 34:37Speaker 3: is gonna be. He's off to a slow start with
- 34:39Speaker 3: Trevor Rodgers clearly shows that he is from last year
- 34:43Speaker 3: off to a hot start. I think they needed that
- 34:46Speaker 3: other guy, and Zach Efflin was a nice piece, but
- 34:48Speaker 3: now you know it tests their depth for sure. Lucas
- 34:53Speaker 3: Gilito line too.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I mean we've been saying that about many teams, that
- 34:59Speaker 1: the problem, at least for some is that they feel
- 35:03Speaker 1: as if he's going to have to jump into the scene.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And there are a lot of recent known cases of
- 35:10Speaker 1: pitchers that are not able to figure it out if
- 35:13Speaker 1: they signed so late. I think it's totally just my case. Yeah,
- 35:17Speaker 1: take your time.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Right, he's going to cost a fraction of what he
- 35:21Speaker 3: was asking for. Clearly what he was asking for was
- 35:24Speaker 3: not it. You give him, take the whole take the
- 35:27Speaker 3: whole six weeks, whatever your spring training build up is.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I don't care where he tells me he is. Take
- 35:33Speaker 3: the whole six weeks in Norfolk. You sign two different
- 35:37Speaker 3: rehab assignments. Maybe it's not a big league deal. I
- 35:40Speaker 3: doubt he doesn't. Doubt he signs a non big league
- 35:43Speaker 3: deal just because you can never be guaranteed a spot
- 35:47Speaker 3: if they give you a minor league deal. But to me,
- 35:50Speaker 3: you take the give him a big league deal three
- 35:52Speaker 3: or four million. You say you're gonna do two rehab assignments,
- 35:55Speaker 3: down in Norfolk, so it's essentially twenty plus days each time,
- 36:00Speaker 3: and then you're ready to go. Don't don't come to
- 36:02Speaker 3: me and go. I threw sixty pitches in my last
- 36:05Speaker 3: bullpen at Boris's place or Cressy's place, like, do it
- 36:11Speaker 3: the real way that it would be a real spring
- 36:14Speaker 3: training and then you bring him into the rotation.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see what they do. Right, Yeah, ten million
- 36:24Speaker 1: bucks Todd father for Ethlyn. He signed pretty late for
- 36:28Speaker 1: his age thirty two seasons, so he goes down and
- 36:31Speaker 1: I guess he'll put I just.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Feel like he's been so long. I thought he was
- 36:34Speaker 2: a lot older. Don't ask me why. I feel like
- 36:36Speaker 2: we've said his name for years.
- 36:39Speaker 3: He's in his tenth year, he's in his test season,
- 36:42Speaker 3: Like that is that is crazy. He'll get it this year. Unfortunately,
- 36:46Speaker 3: he'll get it on the il.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that's thanks m.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Right, that's it for hot corner. But yeah, for the Orioles.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I mean, the rotation still looks better than did last
- 36:59Speaker 1: year on paper. But you know, the early injury bite
- 37:02Speaker 1: like that really does hurt. You know, We've had a
- 37:04Speaker 1: few of these by far, the injuries coming in droves
- 37:07Speaker 1: in the past week more than you know spring training
- 37:10Speaker 1: usually the arm injuries and the reconstruction, elbow surgery stuff.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I mean, it comes throughout the year, but you hear
- 37:16Speaker 1: a lot of it in the first few weeks of
- 37:18Speaker 1: spring training. I could be wrong on this, but I
- 37:21Speaker 1: don't think I am. We did not hear as much
- 37:23Speaker 1: about this for known starters in the big leagues this
- 37:27Speaker 1: past spring training. It seems to be popping up more
- 37:29Speaker 1: frequently here again, now, Kratz, do you agree. I know
- 37:32Speaker 1: I mentioned that the other day. We didn't really have
- 37:33Speaker 1: a conversation about it, but I do think that we've
- 37:36Speaker 1: seen you know, we didn't see as much as we
- 37:38Speaker 1: usually saw in spring training, and sure you could. I
- 37:40Speaker 1: don't know. I say the World Baseball Classic was part
- 37:43Speaker 1: of that, but I just didn't feel like we heard
- 37:45Speaker 1: as much, you know, in a good way about players
- 37:49Speaker 1: going down, And.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I'm not mistaken. I don't have the exact number, but
- 37:53Speaker 3: Will Carroll when he was on, he said this spring
- 37:55Speaker 3: training has been one of the lower and he didn't
- 37:58Speaker 3: say a number when we had him on, but Will
- 38:01Speaker 3: Carroll of Injury Territory said the number of injury pitcher
- 38:05Speaker 3: injuries in spring training is less than has been the
- 38:08Speaker 3: previous year. So without the exact number, don't quote me.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Okay, but that's a show that you can check out
- 38:16Speaker 1: to learn more about what's been going on. This week
- 38:18Speaker 1: is the relevant week for it for sure. Injury Territory
- 38:22Speaker 1: part of the FT Network. Yes, someone asked the other day,
- 38:24Speaker 1: They're like, you have a show for injuries. So it's like, yes,
- 38:26Speaker 1: we do.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Well.
