Drowning in the Deep

Psalm 69:16 (KJV): Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

The psalmist's cry for help is a familiar one. He's sinking in the mire, surrounded by enemies, and feels like he's drowning in deep waters (Psalm 69:13-16). It's a picture of being overwhelmed, of feeling like the troubles are too much to handle. But the psalmist doesn't give up. He cries out to God, reminding Him of His lovingkindness and tender mercies.
