  It is easy to say we believe. Words come easy, but to practice our belief takes some effort.

  Romans 14.23 says that anything not done in faith is sin.

  We're going to be coming from John chapter 14 and the second part of verse 1.

  The first part was, let not your heart be troubled, and we did do a lesson on
• 1:38
  that. If you missed that, you can contact us, and we certainly can get that to you.

  And over the next little bit, it's probably on our website. However,

  this lesson was going to be focused on, you believe in God, believe also in me. Words are cheap.

  And sometimes, not only are our words cheap, but we can really look good in
• 2:04
  various different circumstances.

  When life is going good, then perhaps we seem so much more religious.
• 2:13
  When it's our friends or our fellow
• 2:16
  church members or our acquaintances or our
• 2:19
  co-workers that's going through a fiery trial
• 2:23
  we can seem so full of
• 2:26
  faith and we just have so many wonderful words to say to them but when you are
• 2:34
  faced with adversity or when you are standing in the midst of unbelievers.
• 2:44
  Where do you place your allegiance?
• 2:49
  What are you doing with your life that explains to others what you believe in?
• 2:58
  In this passage of scripture, he says, let not your heart be troubled.
• 3:02
  You believe in God, believe also in me.
• 3:08
  You see, for many of you, you have a knowledge of who God is.
• 3:14
  And for many of you, you might even be able to walk us through beautiful passages
• 3:21
  of scripture and amazing events and stories that have taken place and sound so biblical.
• 3:29
  Perhaps even so pious.
• 3:31
  But where the rubber meets the road and
• 3:35
  you are face to face with that
• 3:39
  event in your own life only a
• 3:42
  true faith in jesus
• 3:45
  christ will exhibit a belief that will carry you through you cannot escape thinking
• 3:55
  about job when you think about a faith that was tried and true You see,
• 4:02
  faith for Job was who he was.
• 4:06
  It wasn't just a way of life. It wasn't a cloak that he pulled out of his closet
• 4:13
  and wrapped himself in on Sunday morning.
• 4:18
  It wasn't a little name tag he wore on his lapel at the football game.
• 4:27
  It was who he was. and when
• 4:30
  the people he loved most were taken
• 4:33
  from him his faith in Jesus Christ
• 4:36
  and his faith in God and what he knew to be true never
• 4:40
  changed when all of his earthly possessions were snatched from him he went about
• 4:47
  his daily routine the same as always he still praised God regardless Regardless of what happened.

  Job stayed true because he believed.
• 5:02
  It's so easy to say we believe.
• 5:05
  But it's very difficult sometimes to put it into practice.
• 5:09
  But you see, there's a truth that I want you to grasp onto.
• 5:14
  And that truth is this. When the rubber meets the road, what you really believe in is how you react.

  If you honestly believe that you are self-sufficient, when the going gets rough,
• 5:28
  you're going to absolutely depend only on yourself.
• 5:32
  If material things are the things
• 5:35
  that you value when the going gets
• 5:38
  rough you're going to get more of them and you're
• 5:40
  going to do everything you can to acquire all that
• 5:43
  you can because that's what you place your
• 5:47
  faith and your trust in if you
• 5:50
  believe that you are where you are because of your intelligence or your education
• 5:56
  when the going gets rough you're going to find out something very soon you really
• 6:03
  aren't the smartest person you're not even probably the smartest person you know,
• 6:08
  and no matter what you're just not going to be able to do it on your own because
• 6:14
  you see jesus said i am the way the truth and the life and no man cometh unto the father but by me,
• 6:20
  and he says in romans 14 12 so that every one of us shall give account of himself to god,
• 6:26
  and so on that day of judgment when you pass from this life to the next.

  All of your material possessions are going to
• 6:35
  be gone because you can't take it
• 6:38
  with you because you see in eternity you have no need for it if you are a child
• 6:45
  of the most high god nothing you got here will even compare to the very smallest
• 6:51
  minuscule piece of glory on the other side.
• 6:56
  It isn't good enough to get there.
• 7:00
  If you're going to spend eternity in hell because you have rejected Jesus Christ,
• 7:05
  you're not going to need it.
• 7:08
  Because it doesn't cut any ice there. There is no ice there.
• 7:13
  You're in hellfire forever and ever.
• 7:17
  In a place where the worm dieth not. In a place where the rich man looked up
• 7:24
  and he had all of his senses.
• 7:26
  You see, you can't take it with you. And you know what else you can't do?
• 7:31
  You can't think your way into heaven. In fact, the more you think about it,
• 7:34
  the harder it is because it comes by faith. because Ephesians 2,
• 7:38
  8 and 9 says, for by grace are you saved.
• 7:40
  It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
• 7:44
  It is the gift of God, not of works. It says, for by grace are you saved through
• 7:51
  faith and that not of yourselves.
• 7:54
  All of the intelligence in the world will leave you short when Romans 14, 12 comes to life for you.

  You see, because he said, whosoever's name was not found written in the Lamb's
• 8:07
  Book of Life would be cast into hellfire.
• 8:11
  So you see, those of you who can look out in the nighttime sky and see the beautiful constellations,
• 8:18
  who can sit on the edge of the ocean at the beach and watch the waves roll in and out,
• 8:27
  and somewhere in your minuscule minds, because if you're human,
• 8:32
  which we are, they're minuscule compared to who he is you can somehow say and say there has to be a god,
• 8:41
  but my friend i want to tell you that james said the devil even says there is a god and he trembles,
• 8:48
  but he hasn't placed his faith in him but in john chapter 14 and verse 1 he
• 8:54
  says let not your heart be troubled and he follows it with believe ye believe
• 8:58
  in god believe also in me if you have the faith in Jesus Christ,
• 9:01
  there's no need for a troubled heart.
• 9:04
  You see, I'm not a cardiologist, but I am in the heart-bending business because I hand Jesus out.

  I can't fix your heart, and I can't change your life, but I can introduce you to a man that can.
• 9:21
  And you say, well, Kim, what do you mean? I can tell you because if you go back
• 9:23
  to John chapter 4, now there's a lady for you.
• 9:27
  She's the woman at the well, and she comes to the well at noonday expecting
• 9:32
  to see nobody because, you see, she felt like she was a nobody.
• 9:36
  And maybe if you're listening to me right now, that's how you feel.
• 9:40
  And you see, she had done some really horrid things. She just wasn't respected
• 9:45
  at all by society. In fact, she was an outcast.
• 9:48
  Not to mention she was a Samaritan. And so she goes to the well,
• 9:54
  but she didn't know about Jesus.
• 9:58
  She didn't know that he said, And I know the plans that I have for you to prosper
• 10:01
  you to give a hope and an expected end.
• 10:04
  She didn't know that his purpose in life was to come and to seek and save those which were lost.
• 10:10
  So she had no idea that he had just had a conversation with the boys and had
• 10:15
  just said, Hey, I must needs go to Samaria.
• 10:19
  And that was such an out of the way thing. Not to mention it put him in harm's
• 10:24
  way because the people over there where he had to go through were all hacked
• 10:28
  off at him because he had preached the gospel of love and salvation in Jesus Christ.
• 10:35
  She didn't know any of this. But you know what? She didn't have to know it.
• 10:40
  And you don't have to be the Bible theologian either.
• 10:43
  You just got to meet him face to face.
• 10:47
  And so when she gets to the well, there said Jesus on the side of the well.
• 10:52
  And when she goes to draw the water, Jesus speaks to her, a Jew.
• 11:00
  Well, this totally was freaking her out. Because who was this Jew speaking to the Samaritan?
• 11:06
  And maybe you just think you just aren't worthy of God's love.
• 11:12
  And you're not worthy of his attention.
• 11:16
  But I have great news for you. You've got his attention.
• 11:20
  Because he never sleeps and he never slumbers and he says behold i stand at the door and knock,
• 11:25
  you've got his attention and if you're a child of god he says you're the apple
• 11:29
  of my eye and zachariah you've got his attention no matter who you are and you've
• 11:36
  got his love because he tells us in first john that we love him because he first loved us.
• 11:42
  You've got his invitation because he said
• 11:45
  whosoever shall call upon the name
• 11:48
  of the lord shall be saved so he begins a
• 11:51
  conversation with the lady at the well and she's talking about drawing water
• 11:56
  and he says to her if you just knew who you were talking to and if you just
• 12:02
  knew the water i had to offer i have water that you'll never thirst again they'll
• 12:08
  spring within you new life,
• 12:11
  she has a conversation with him he reveals exactly who he is to her but he also
• 12:18
  reveals to her that he knows her and he speaks to her about the things that
• 12:24
  she did in her life that were accusations.
• 12:28
  From others the things that she did in her life that other people had held against
• 12:33
  her the sins that so easily beset her and the weight of the world that was upon her shoulders,
• 12:40
  and she said yes to him
• 12:43
  as he spoke to her and my
• 12:46
  friend he told her the things that she had done not to condemn her condemn her
• 12:50
  he says neither do i condemn they go and sin no more what he said to her was
• 12:56
  this i love you just the way you are and in john chapter 14 and verse 1 he says you believe in God,
• 13:07
  believe also in me.
• 13:09
  You can see that there's something up there that's holding the sun and the moon and the stars.
• 13:15
  You can see that there's something out there bigger than you.
• 13:20
  And there's something tugging at
• 13:22
  your heart to make you understand that something somewhere is in charge.
• 13:32
  Now, believe in my son, Jesus, because John 3, 16 says, for God so loved the
• 13:37
  world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should
• 13:43
  not perish, but have everlasting life.
• 13:45
  Jesus says in John chapter 14 and verse 1, he says, believe also in me.
• 13:52
  He skips down a few verses and he says, I am the way. And let me tell you something
• 13:57
  about that woman as well in John chapter 4.
• 14:00
  Came with her head bending low she came troubled and from what i can tell quiet and unassuming,
• 14:09
  she didn't leave that way no siree when
• 14:13
  she left she came out from the well and
• 14:16
  she went back and told everybody she knew and she said come see a man that told
• 14:20
  me all things ever i did is not this the christ this quiet unassuming sinful
• 14:26
  wicked woman came to the well and she left the changed individual screaming the praises of God,
• 14:33
  and she was washed every bit, white as snow.
• 14:37
  For he said that we are new creatures in Christ Jesus. Old things are passed
• 14:42
  away, and all things are become new.
• 14:44
  And he said, though your skin's sins were a scarlet, I will wash them white as snow.
• 14:52
  You believe in God, believe also in me.
• 14:58
  You see, he says in Hebrews 11, 6, without faith, it is impossible to please
• 15:03
  him for he that cometh to him, excuse me, that he that cometh to God must believe
• 15:08
  that he is, that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
• 15:13
  In Romans 14, 23, he says, whatsoever we do that is not done in faith is sin.
• 15:21
  Thus far in this lesson we've spoken to those who did not know Jesus Christ.

  And I would be amiss if I did not tell you how that you could meet him.

  You see, he said that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  He said that we need to place our faith in him.
• 15:42
  He was very explicit on what he wanted us to do.
• 15:47
  We need to confess that we are a sinner. In Romans 3.23,
• 15:51
  he says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of god in romans 6
• 15:56
  23 he says for the wages of sin is death but the gift of god is eternal life
• 16:00
  through jesus christ our lord in romans 5 80 says but god commendeth his love
• 16:04
  toward us in that while we were yet sinners christ died for us,
• 16:10
  in romans chapter 10 verses 9 and 10 he says that if thou shalt confess with
• 16:14
  thy mouth the lord jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that god hath raised
• 16:18
  him from the dead thou shalt be saved for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness,
• 16:23
  and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
• 16:27
  It isn't a huge process and it doesn't involve signing a card of membership
• 16:31
  in a church. It involves repenting your heart.
• 16:35
  Believing in Jesus Christ, realizing that you can't make it on your own and
• 16:40
  inviting him to come into your life.
• 16:42
  My friends, that's the only way, because in John chapter 14 and verse 6,
• 16:48
  he said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father
• 16:51
  but by me. You believe in God?
• 16:54
  Believe also on me, for whosoever's name is not found written in the Lamb's
• 16:57
  book of life shall be cast into hellfire.

  But I want you to see if you're a child of God, that Romans,
• 17:05
  I mean, that John chapter 14 and verse 1 has huge meaning to you.
• 17:09
  He says, if you believe in God, believe also in me.
• 17:14
  I spoke to you in his hearing, Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 5,
• 17:18
  which said, let your conversation be without covetous and be content with such
• 17:22
  things as you have. I will never leave you nor forsake thee.
• 17:25
  But what I actually spoke to you was Hebrews 11, 6, which is without faith,
• 17:30
  it is impossible to please him.
• 17:33
  For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, that he is a rewarder of
• 17:40
  them that diligently seek him.
• 17:42
  You must believe that he is.
• 17:47
  You see, he says you believe in God, believe also in me. You need to believe Jesus for who he is.
• 17:52
  You need to place your faith in a God that cannot fail. And you need to put
• 17:56
  your faith in Jesus Christ who defeated hell, death, and the grave.

  Who bought your salvation with his sinless, spotless blood.
• 18:05
  It's time that you trust him and take him at his word.
• 18:09
  He said he'd never leave you nor forsake you. He said you could do all things
• 18:13
  through him which strengthens you.
• 18:14
  He said that he would supply all of your needs according to his riches and glory.
• 18:18
  He said he was the great I am. He said he was the beginning and the end.
• 18:22
  He said he had a plan for you, and that plan was to prosper you and to give
• 18:25
  you a hope. It's time that you believe him, whether you're on the mountain or
• 18:29
  in the valley or somewhere in between. He is still God.
• 18:33
  And he still loves you. And listen and listen closely.
• 18:38
  He's still right. And he's still right for whatever's wrong in your life.
• 18:43
  Whatever storm that you're facing, whatever trial that you have at hand, they're under his feet.
• 18:51
  Did you hear me? That mountain that seems too big for you?
• 18:57
  Trust me, it is. But it's under his feet. You believe in God?
• 19:03
  Believe also in me. He said in John chapter 4, 1 John 4, 4, he said,
• 19:12
  Be of good cheer, little children.
• 19:14
  I have overcome them. Because greater is he that is in you than he that is in
• 19:19
  the world. He said, Be of good comfort.
• 19:21
  My friends, greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
• 19:28
  Hear me? Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
• 19:33
  So why are you succumbing to the world?
• 19:36
  Why are you living in despair?
• 19:38
  We are tossed about in every hand, yet not in despair, because our hope is in
• 19:44
  Jesus Christ, who cannot fail.
• 19:47
  And he said, not me.
• 19:51
  Jesus said, in Mark chapter 9 and verse 23, Jesus said unto him,
• 19:57
  if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believe us.

  If you're living a defeated life, you're not living what he wanted because he
• 20:10
  said, I have come to give you a life that you might have it more abundantly.

  Let not your heart be troubled you believe

  possible to him that believeth and jesus said ye are overcomers.
