Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: How was your week? My week started off as a
- 0:08Speaker 1: Kia Eving six GT, but ended with a Stonic.
- 0:15Speaker 2: A Stoni. If you don't want to be racist.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Thank you Paul Marrack Badle, thank you Badle. Stonnik amrack
- 0:24Speaker 1: ah man man there. Let's just say there was a
- 0:27Speaker 1: bit of a stuff up at the key of factory.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah, they realized that you had turned up and they're like, oh,
- 0:32Speaker 3: we thought it was going to be forever long.
- 0:35Speaker 1: We thought this was going to be Pavley give him
- 0:37Speaker 1: a stonie anyway, wheeled out with a horse.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It was.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It was just literally a man with a fishing rod
- 0:48Speaker 1: to carrot.
- 0:49Speaker 2: At the end. You know what, though, I actually quite
- 0:53Speaker 2: like the Stonic.
- 0:54Speaker 1: What do you like about it?
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's it's reasonable, it's nice, there's there's nothing wrong with it.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I don't think, mmm, what was wrong with it?
- 1:03Speaker 1: It serves its purpose. When you think you're getting in
- 1:06Speaker 1: a bloody zero to one hundred car from zero to
- 1:09Speaker 1: one hundred and three point two seconds or whatever it is,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and you end up with the Stonitch, you get your
- 1:15Speaker 1: grumpy pants on. But look, this car serves a purpose.
- 1:17Speaker 1: There's no doubt about it. It's it's great. If you're
- 1:20Speaker 1: eighty six years old and need to go down and
- 1:22Speaker 1: complain about why your meals and on wheels are late.
- 1:24Speaker 1: But I don't know it's Look, I had the GT
- 1:28Speaker 1: line as well. There's literally when you put your foot
- 1:31Speaker 1: on the gas for the first half, there's literally nothing.
- 1:34Speaker 1: There's literally there's nothing, there's no go.
- 1:37Speaker 2: You are very hard to please. No, I'm not. Daniel
- 1:41Speaker 2: loves that car. You've just ruined it for him.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Daniel was made in the back of that car. What
- 1:48Speaker 1: would his parents have listened to? Oh god, back in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the day, it would have been Viralin check on from
- 1:55Speaker 1: Viralin down. I think it's game. We create little.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Me to care.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Calllu.
- 2:12Speaker 1: That's just how Daniel was created.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So stupid.
- 2:17Speaker 1: No wonder the internet hates me.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Hey, we'll get onto that a little later.
- 2:22Speaker 1: How is your week?
- 2:24Speaker 3: It's very busy, so I know we're going to be
- 2:27Speaker 3: talking more about this, I think next episode, but we're
- 2:29Speaker 3: going through our use of the year at the moment.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Australia's most comprehensive ute test. Hopefully we don't get sued
- 2:36Speaker 3: for that claim even though it's true.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But yes, Australia's most.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Comprehensive ute test and we've been starting to roll out
- 2:43Speaker 3: all of the content now, so in the next episode
- 2:46Speaker 3: we'll run through who the winner is and why we've
- 2:48Speaker 3: chosen the winner, and why it had nothing to do
- 2:50Speaker 3: with how much money they spent.
- 2:51Speaker 1: With us, says the man. Drive What do you what
- 2:54Speaker 1: are you driving around at the moment? They're Pavlai.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Well, I'm actually just getting around in my raptor because
- 2:59Speaker 3: I don't know some of the other cars we've had
- 3:01Speaker 3: in the office are a bit, you know, a bland.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So I'm just like, I wonder if that's a little
- 3:07Speaker 1: taste of the honey of the things to come.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Oh, perhaps it is a little suckle on the nectar
- 3:14Speaker 3: of the year of the year.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Wow, By the way, how long have you been enrolled
- 3:18Speaker 1: in tafe? Just looking in the background, if you're where
- 3:22Speaker 1: you're currently situated, you've got your little lunch bag there?
- 3:25Speaker 1: How sheet metal going? How are you going with that?
- 3:28Speaker 2: Good?
- 3:28Speaker 3: Actually, so this is actually part of the busyness of
- 3:32Speaker 3: my week.
- 3:32Speaker 2: We've been moving office, so I'm in our new office
- 3:35Speaker 2: at the moment.
- 3:36Speaker 3: So it's quite an expanse clearly sponsored by IKEA.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yes, there are a few billies behind me, you know.
- 3:45Speaker 2: The Tower of Billy. No, what was that?
- 3:48Speaker 3: It's a type of ikea bookshelf. Isn't it the best
- 3:51Speaker 3: selling bookshelf ever?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Oh? The Billy, Yeah, the Billy.
- 3:55Speaker 1: God our producer knows what that was, mainly because he
- 3:57Speaker 1: lives in a one bedroom apartment with six people living
- 4:00Speaker 1: in it.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Billy.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He's just showing me Billy. In my day, Billy was
- 4:07Speaker 1: something with a gatorade bottle in a neighbors hose, a
- 4:11Speaker 1: fucking bookshelf. How times have changed?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Well?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I did want to say, do you know I'm
- 4:20Speaker 1: going to say something completely wild? Last app I was
- 4:24Speaker 1: saying that I'm not I've never really been a BMW guy.
- 4:29Speaker 1: And the XM was wildly impressive to me. Right, I
- 4:32Speaker 1: loved it. I loved it everything about it.
- 4:35Speaker 2: It was lux.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So I've been thinking a lot about the whole range
- 4:38Speaker 1: and they do have very much a different sort of
- 4:41Speaker 1: design language now depending on the model, right, which I
- 4:44Speaker 1: think is kind of far out. It's crazy. We saw
- 4:47Speaker 1: the what was it, the M three and the M
- 4:50Speaker 1: four with the big well instead of kidneys, they turned
- 4:53Speaker 1: into Lung's teeth. Me and you sat in the IX
- 4:58Speaker 1: that came around, and then there was the M two, Commodore, Commodore, comodeore.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Come on, that car looked pretty sick. So everything start
- 5:07Speaker 1: to look different. And then I just saw the BMW
- 5:09Speaker 1: seven series, and I'm.
- 5:11Speaker 2: All on the seven series.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I love it, I love it, I love it. I
- 5:15Speaker 1: think the whole thing, the whole the whole thing is
- 5:17Speaker 1: just such a ballsy move and I'm just I'm really
- 5:19Speaker 1: into it. And guess what, I think, I'm becoming a
- 5:21Speaker 1: BMW guy.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Oh, Janney Red comes straight out of the closet, just
- 5:25Speaker 3: breaking through that door. Yeah, so I my TikTok fame
- 5:30Speaker 3: came courtesy of the BMW seven series. I did a
- 5:34Speaker 3: brief TikTok record that was a minute long and it
- 5:41Speaker 3: got something like seven million viewerships. And basically, yeah, that
- 5:47Speaker 3: was based on the screen in the second row, because
- 5:49Speaker 3: it's like a thirty four inch display that folds down
- 5:52Speaker 3: from the roof. And I'm interested from anyone that's listening
- 5:58Speaker 3: to this, Do you think that is any reason ever
- 6:01Speaker 3: to have a thirty four inch display in the second
- 6:04Speaker 3: row of your car?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I do. This whole car seems to be
- 6:08Speaker 1: set up for when I'm doing dealings with Beijing and
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm on my way to a meeting and maybe I
- 6:17Speaker 1: want to look at myself on our new YouTube channel.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh oh that's disturbing.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah, well you know what else is disturbing?
- 6:25Speaker 2: You?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Whacking off to yourself and Bloody the Car Expert YouTube
- 6:29Speaker 1: in the back head Tesla, You're like, Tesla, engage.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Subscribe and hit the bell icon.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, plug train new YouTube channel. Thanks for thanks for
- 6:37Speaker 1: being so excited about that little endeavor.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah, well first I've heard of it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'd surprise you on that one. I'm putting
- 6:44Speaker 1: work in this thing.
- 6:45Speaker 2: What are you talking about right anyway?
- 6:49Speaker 1: So yeah, BMW, I think I don't know what, like,
- 6:51Speaker 1: what are your impressions of the seventh series? Like, what
- 6:53Speaker 1: when you sort of look at this as a whole collective,
- 6:56Speaker 1: it's I think.
- 6:56Speaker 3: It's amazing, And I'll tell you why. I think it's amazing.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I think that was saighties. Bens has dropped the ball.
- 7:01Speaker 2: With the S class.
- 7:01Speaker 3: The S Class just looks like a bigger, more expensive
- 7:04Speaker 3: version of a C class. Yes, and I think the
- 7:07Speaker 3: seven series has gone back to being about luxury, and
- 7:12Speaker 3: when you sit inside it, they have it is just
- 7:15Speaker 3: an array of luxury. They've really gone to town on
- 7:18Speaker 3: making this thing look and feel expensive, and I just
- 7:20Speaker 3: feel at the moment, when you're spending that kind of
- 7:22Speaker 3: money on some of these cars that are out there,
- 7:24Speaker 3: you're just not getting that feeling and that the seventh
- 7:26Speaker 3: Series really takes it up that notch. Even some of
- 7:29Speaker 3: the materials, like you have sort of cashmere, you know, seats.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And the crystal sides as well, the crystal door lips,
- 7:39Speaker 1: little screens inside.
- 7:40Speaker 3: The doors as well. Like this is what the seventh
- 7:42Speaker 3: Series used to be. The seventh Series used to be
- 7:44Speaker 3: just the thing that blew you away. James Bond drove
- 7:47Speaker 3: around in it was it a seven Series or a
- 7:49Speaker 3: five series, but he drove around in that car that
- 7:52Speaker 3: was controlled by a little sort of tablet like it is.
- 7:54Speaker 2: It is cool stuff and they're going back to that again,
- 7:56Speaker 2: which I love.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, and I agree with everything you've said
- 7:59Speaker 1: about the Mercedes, even argue that Audi's.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Ouda's the same because the AA is the same sort
- 8:04Speaker 2: of story.
- 8:04Speaker 3: They've kind of put all of the tech that's in
- 8:07Speaker 3: the AA in the rest of the cars, so it
- 8:08Speaker 3: doesn't feel any different, whereas the seven series is just
- 8:11Speaker 3: the seven Series. We're not going to be in a
- 8:13Speaker 3: position where the three Series has a thirty four inch
- 8:16Speaker 3: display that rolls out of the roof. It is just
- 8:18Speaker 3: going to be the seven Series that always has that,
- 8:20Speaker 3: which I think is great.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's completely evolved in the way in a beautiful
- 8:25Speaker 1: dream like way, like it really is the car something
- 8:29Speaker 1: someone would dream up.
- 8:30Speaker 3: What will surprise you is the size of it, because
- 8:32Speaker 3: what they heard from their customers was the customers wanted
- 8:36Speaker 3: more of an suv, and obviously they didn't want to
- 8:38Speaker 3: make it an X seven. But this new seven Series
- 8:42Speaker 3: is a longer than the previous generation long wheelbase. It's
- 8:45Speaker 3: taller than that as well, so when you see it
- 8:47Speaker 3: in person, it actually looks like an suv but isn't
- 8:51Speaker 3: quite an suv, but it has that feeling to it
- 8:53Speaker 3: both inside and outside, so it is super sized.
- 8:56Speaker 2: It is absolutely enormous.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I'm a BMW gar whoa, oh hey, this is exciting.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I've been waiting for this for a long time and
- 9:05Speaker 1: it's finally confirmed. It's finally happening, and it feels properly real.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Now is the Ford F one fifty. Not only is
- 9:12Speaker 1: it coming, it's properly coming. The prices have been released.
- 9:15Speaker 1: We know it's what Q three they'll start arriving.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I was actually really shocked by the price.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I thought this was going to start about one hundred
- 9:23Speaker 3: and twenty grand upwards. It's starting at just under one
- 9:26Speaker 3: hundred and seven grand before on roads. It'll arrive in
- 9:28Speaker 3: Australia Q three, And it's interesting they're offering two different versions.
- 9:32Speaker 3: They're doing a short wheel base and a long wheelbase,
- 9:35Speaker 3: and the base will basically kick off with the XLT,
- 9:38Speaker 3: which is kind of the shitkicker model, but the longer
- 9:43Speaker 3: wheelbase is only a couple of grand more.
- 9:45Speaker 2: It really isn't that expensive.
- 9:46Speaker 3: So they will all be powered by three point five
- 9:49Speaker 3: liter twin turbo charged V six petrol engines, so it
- 9:52Speaker 3: makes almost the same amount of power and a little
- 9:56Speaker 3: more talk than the Ranger ractor here in Australia and
- 10:00Speaker 3: body as well, so it doesn't weigh all that much.
- 10:02Speaker 3: I'm just a bit concerned. You see the pictures of
- 10:04Speaker 3: the interior of the XLT, it kind of looks pretty cheap. O.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I don't mind it, and I don't think it looks
- 10:11Speaker 1: too bad. I mean, you've got to realize that that's
- 10:13Speaker 1: sort of that sort of fit out is for people's
- 10:16Speaker 1: cuck who just want to wipe stuff.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Down your Daniel.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, I think that the screen's tiny.
- 10:22Speaker 2: It kind of looks a bit spartan.
- 10:24Speaker 3: But if you then step up to the midspec, which
- 10:27Speaker 3: is called the Lariot, I love these American names.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Lariot is one hundred and.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Forty grand for the long wheel base, so it does
- 10:34Speaker 3: step up in price pretty quickly, but that's about the
- 10:36Speaker 3: same price you're paying for a Ram fifteen hundred.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And this is as nice, if not nicer.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Actually, hey, one of the other videos I did that
- 10:43Speaker 3: went viral on TikTok.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Can you stop the way?
- 10:48Speaker 2: You know what?
- 10:48Speaker 1: The way you even say TikTok is like TikTok when
- 10:52Speaker 1: I moved on from mass bass and to the Tiktoks.
- 10:56Speaker 3: But the other video that I had that went viral
- 10:58Speaker 3: there with several million views.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Was the video of two features.
- 11:04Speaker 3: The the fifty we had in the States, which was
- 11:07Speaker 3: the fold down gear stick that creates.
- 11:09Speaker 2: A work bench.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah that's cool.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 3: There was a second feature as well that folded down
- 11:14Speaker 3: the two front seats to create a bed, so you
- 11:17Speaker 3: could have literally a laid flat seat.
- 11:19Speaker 2: It was bloody unreal soo features.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm looking at this car right now. This honestly reminds
- 11:24Speaker 1: me of that guy who who's it reminds me of
- 11:27Speaker 1: that guy who's got far too much money and spends
- 11:29Speaker 1: it on fishing gear.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Sounds like me.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Just to full on, full sleeve shimano kind of job.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Puts his six pack of puts his six pack of
- 11:40Speaker 1: great northerns in there. This bloody ridiculous sonni is that
- 11:45Speaker 1: no one wears apart from a speed dealer. We're going
- 11:48Speaker 1: to bloody Boomey Gooey and we know a mile and fishing.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I'm tar on the boat. I got the Bertram sponsored
- 11:55Speaker 1: by Shamanna. Me and the bloke.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yep Ie so want one?
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of want what they bring.
- 12:02Speaker 3: If they bring the Raptor here, I'm going to have
- 12:04Speaker 3: to trade up to just something a bit more, you know, big.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Anything to compensate. My My dad had one of these
- 12:13Speaker 1: when I was a kid, and yeah, and I still
- 12:17Speaker 1: remember him driving it home for the first time. All black.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Those really like the big Rams. And I had My
- 12:25Speaker 1: first car was a was a Swift GT I and wow,
- 12:30Speaker 1: it could actually fit in the back of that car, which.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Not surprised me about your first car? Makes sense?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Now what was your first car?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Next question, let's all.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Come on with car. Let's have a look at that.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Pull it up.
- 12:47Speaker 2: What was that? People?
- 12:48Speaker 1: The people want to know? What was it?
- 12:50Speaker 2: Well? This is there is a backstory to this. My
- 12:52Speaker 2: first car was a Camry, but.
- 12:55Speaker 1: So he gave me ship for a for a swift GT.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I drive it because the day I turned eighteen, I
- 13:01Speaker 3: got my first media evaluation vehicle and since then I've
- 13:05Speaker 3: just been driving those.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I've only ever had those. So enjoy that. There you go.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Wow, that's a fucking sandwich on the table, isn't it.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You don't even know what that me neither. I'm just
- 13:19Speaker 1: looking at the pizza that me and our producer and
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'm like, fucking hell hungry, and we skip that much
- 13:24Speaker 1: so overhearing about Paul's Camra. Let's just dig into the pizza, Martie. Yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 1: wow a Camri.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Sensible is the word.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, just you haven't changed. I mean, if if those
- 13:40Speaker 1: river slacks were a car camera, I'm surprised you didn't start.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I didn't surprised you didn't end up as a cab driver.
- 13:50Speaker 2: If Uber was around when I was, I probably would have.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Been Now listen, you can carry this. I don't want
- 13:56Speaker 1: to be a part of it. If you can buy
- 13:58Speaker 1: a Polster, you'd probably want to hold on to it
- 14:03Speaker 1: forever and ever and ever. Isn't that right? Pavli?
- 14:07Speaker 2: Yes, So we did an interesting story. I look at
- 14:11Speaker 2: some of these car companies that have.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Guaranteed future valued plans and we got onto the topic
- 14:18Speaker 3: of evs because I have been closely watching the cost
- 14:21Speaker 3: of Tesla's and what they're worth secondhand. When you think
- 14:24Speaker 3: about EV's, batteries degrade over time, so they're going to
- 14:28Speaker 3: be worth less and less as time goes on. So
- 14:30Speaker 3: we did a little exercise where we took some of
- 14:33Speaker 3: the evs that are from bigger brands and then we
- 14:35Speaker 3: put them through the brand's own guaranteed future value calculators.
- 14:39Speaker 3: So we did a Mazda MX thirty, We did a
- 14:41Speaker 3: Mercedes Benz eq C I think it was, and then
- 14:46Speaker 3: we did a pole Star three which has yet to
- 14:49Speaker 3: be released that we haven't even seen spy photos of them,
- 14:52Speaker 3: so who even knows what state they're at with actually
- 14:55Speaker 3: making this car. But they announced the pricing a couple
- 14:58Speaker 3: of weeks ago, and it's bloody expensive. It looks cheap,
- 15:02Speaker 3: but it's definitely not cheap the second you start ticking
- 15:04Speaker 3: a few option boxes for stuff that really should be standard,
- 15:08Speaker 3: and keeping in mind is a car that's made in China,
- 15:10Speaker 3: so it is pretty cheap to manufacture compared to some
- 15:13Speaker 3: of these vehicles that are rolling out of Germany and Japan.
- 15:17Speaker 2: We were blown away with how much money you lose
- 15:19Speaker 2: on this thing.
- 15:20Speaker 3: So when you took a couple of basic options, the
- 15:23Speaker 3: new price on the road was one hundred and sixty
- 15:25Speaker 3: two thousand dollars four hundred and seventy one over four years.
- 15:31Speaker 3: And I'm going to ask you to guess how much
- 15:33Speaker 3: do you think this was worth in four years time?
- 15:37Speaker 3: Keeping in mind, the new price is one hundred and
- 15:38Speaker 3: sixty two grand.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so we start new at one sixty.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Yeah, so you've driven it around for four years sixty
- 15:45Speaker 3: thousand k's, which is fifteen thousand k's a year.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Pretty sort of basic stuff. How much do you reckon?
- 15:52Speaker 3: Polestar says their Polestar three is worth after four years.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm going to say between I'm going to say between
- 15:59Speaker 1: sixty seventy five, I'd probably say do you know what
- 16:03Speaker 1: I'd more say? Seventy five thousand.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Okay, how does fifty nine thousand dollars sound? So you're
- 16:09Speaker 3: losing one hundred and three thousand dollars over four years.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so what is it is? That's like over fifty percent?
- 16:16Speaker 1: That's like sixty percent, right.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it is insane. So yeah, we're really blown
- 16:22Speaker 3: away by that. And to put that into context of
- 16:24Speaker 3: per kilometer, it's a dollar seventy per kilometer that this
- 16:27Speaker 3: thing is depreciating. So you're paying per kilometer to charge
- 16:31Speaker 3: at per kilometer to service it, and then you're depreciating
- 16:34Speaker 3: the vehicle constantly every single kilomity you drive, and it
- 16:38Speaker 3: must get to a point where you're like, oh, I
- 16:40Speaker 3: don't really want to drive it because it's just depreciating
- 16:43Speaker 3: so much. And how does that compare? So MX thirty,
- 16:46Speaker 3: which is the master thing that they've sold barely any
- 16:48Speaker 3: of that's seventy grand on the road, that is worth
- 16:51Speaker 3: after four years twenty nine grand. But as a depreciation
- 16:54Speaker 3: per kilometer, it's sixty six cents, So it's depreciating far
- 16:58Speaker 3: less than the dollar seventy that you're losing on your
- 17:01Speaker 3: Polster s No saydes Benz a dollar twenty per kilometer
- 17:04Speaker 3: in terms of depreciation. So yeah, it is remarkable, and
- 17:08Speaker 3: I think it is worth just keeping in mind if
- 17:10Speaker 3: you are going to buy an EV and you are
- 17:12Speaker 3: going to finance it, really have a look at resale
- 17:15Speaker 3: values because that I think is really important at the
- 17:18Speaker 3: moment for an EV, especially compared to any other car
- 17:20Speaker 3: on the road.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and I feel like we're paying through the roof
- 17:23Speaker 1: for evs generally, Like still you kind of I think
- 17:26Speaker 1: a lot of people would have expected prices to go
- 17:29Speaker 1: down a little bit. I know the Tesla has dropped
- 17:30Speaker 1: their price somewhat, but yeah, I expected everything to be
- 17:34Speaker 1: a lot more cheaper the.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Polster and this isn't coming out till next year, So
- 17:38Speaker 4: we're saying that in twelve months time, this is still
- 17:43Speaker 4: going to feel like it's worth one hundred and seventy
- 17:45Speaker 4: grand when you're buying it.
- 17:47Speaker 2: And I just don't get that.
- 17:48Speaker 3: If we're meant to be talking about EV's becoming cheaper,
- 17:51Speaker 3: this thing is still twelve months away.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So you have twelve months.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Worth of battery development and all these advances, and you're
- 17:57Speaker 3: still going to hit us with one hundred and seventy
- 17:59Speaker 3: thousand dollars.
- 17:59Speaker 2: EV I think it.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Blows me away even more with Polestar is that the
- 18:02Speaker 3: only other car they sell at the moment is the Polestar.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Too, which isn't selling great by the way.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Really, it's not selling great, but it's also not that expensive.
- 18:09Speaker 3: So you're telling me that if I want an SUV
- 18:11Speaker 3: version of a Polestar, I have to spend an extra.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Hundred thousand dollars. These people are crazy.
- 18:17Speaker 1: What do you make it? The Polster Too? By the way,
- 18:19Speaker 1: I remember we reviewed it, didn't we.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Well, you tried to, but you remember, no one will
- 18:23Speaker 2: get back to you.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I know they had that sad and they got back
- 18:27Speaker 1: to me.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Oh you go no.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Look, the Polestar Too really is a bit of a
- 18:32Speaker 3: failed effort in terms of advancing their EV brand because
- 18:36Speaker 3: the car itself is fine, it's okay, but it's incredibly
- 18:40Speaker 3: cramped inside, Like in the second row, I have to
- 18:42Speaker 3: tilt my head to the left to actually fit in there,
- 18:45Speaker 3: this enormous drive line hump. Because it shares a platform
- 18:48Speaker 3: with an internal combustion car.
- 18:50Speaker 2: It just feels like a very low effort attempt.
- 18:52Speaker 3: And to think that they don't have a replacement for
- 18:54Speaker 3: that coming anytime soon is totally beyond me.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You weren't actually tilting your head to get in the
- 18:59Speaker 1: car and Trevor in the backseat, and it was payback
- 19:03Speaker 1: for coming on the show. I don't know I found there.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I was thinking about that Pulster two looks wise, it's fine,
- 19:10Speaker 1: it's fine. I think the inside is fine. The whole
- 19:15Speaker 1: thing is just fine. It's you kind of look at
- 19:19Speaker 1: it and you go, who would buy this thing? Because
- 19:21Speaker 1: it's somewhat boring. You sort of think, oh, look at
- 19:23Speaker 1: the flare. It's got like yellow seat belts and very
- 19:26Speaker 1: like very sort of gray. It looks like furniture from
- 19:29Speaker 1: an airport travel lounge. Like honestly, I thought, who would
- 19:33Speaker 1: buy this? And then I realized it's someone who's really
- 19:35Speaker 1: into scandy furniture.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, And look, I'm sure there is a market
- 19:41Speaker 3: for that. But you just look at some of the
- 19:42Speaker 3: materials like the cloth, and yeah, I don't know, it
- 19:45Speaker 3: just feels like.
- 19:46Speaker 2: It's not going to date very well. So like it.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It just feels so corporate in there. It almost feels
- 19:51Speaker 1: like a fleet car.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's literally like a Model three, but less practical
- 19:57Speaker 3: like a Model three is very basic and spartan, in
- 19:59Speaker 3: so whereas a Pollstar is just the same but just
- 20:02Speaker 3: not as good in terms of anything that it does.
- 20:05Speaker 2: So I just kind of don't understand the point in it, do.
- 20:07Speaker 1: You know what? Speaking of the Model three, I was
- 20:09Speaker 1: going to do a comparison between that and what went
- 20:12Speaker 1: on sale as we record this yesterday, was the Ionic six. Right,
- 20:18Speaker 1: it's the kind of like their car to go up
- 20:20Speaker 1: against the Model three. Did you see the pricing for this,
- 20:23Speaker 1: because I was really surprised that I thought the pricing
- 20:26Speaker 1: for the model for the Ionic six was kind of exy.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Well, it's not only xy, but it is a very
- 20:31Speaker 2: odd looking car.
- 20:33Speaker 3: It looks the back looks like an au Falcon, and
- 20:35Speaker 3: I know that at the time it really it really
- 20:38Speaker 3: just set a trend.
- 20:39Speaker 2: But twenty years on it I think.
- 20:42Speaker 1: The back looks like that sort of that double lip
- 20:45Speaker 1: at the back. I think that looks more like an
- 20:47Speaker 1: old school Porsche. Yeah, okay, it's got old school Porsche vibes. Yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 1: but the front just looks completely weird. It's almost like
- 20:55Speaker 1: they try.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Know if Marty can hear this, but you guys have
- 20:59Speaker 3: SPECSA is in New South Wales, right.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Go look at Okay, Okay, Mary, you know what Maria.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Maria produced can be the adjudicator, the adjudicator. If you
- 21:11Speaker 1: look at the back, look at the back of the
- 21:12Speaker 1: Ionic six. I don't think we're looking at the same car. Seriously,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I'm talking about me and yeah, okay, now look at
- 21:21Speaker 1: trying try and get a rear a front like a rear.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Which does that look like?
- 21:27Speaker 3: Don't you think, Mary, Gordy when he comes into the office,
- 21:32Speaker 3: is he smoking anything that looks to be illegal substance?
- 21:36Speaker 5: Okay, look, I was there, I talk I checked it
- 21:40Speaker 5: out over the weekend and I'm telling you now give
- 21:43Speaker 5: me one sec the build the assembly, No, the assembly.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Just look at the back of it. I forget about
- 21:52Speaker 1: the lives. Look at the spoiler on the back and
- 21:54Speaker 1: how fat it is at the bottom. What do you
- 21:56Speaker 1: what do you think? What do you want to mail? Paul?
- 22:00Speaker 1: This determines if you get another slice of pizza, So
- 22:03Speaker 1: think carefully. Okay, it's still deciding.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Fuck yeah, so I was good.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Well anyway, that's the beauty of design, isn't it, Pavlis.
- 22:18Speaker 1: It's subjective. I see a Porsche, you see an au Falcon.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Anyway says a lot about our personality it is.
- 22:26Speaker 2: It is expensive.
- 22:27Speaker 3: I'm just having a little sticky by seventy four grand
- 22:31Speaker 3: for the base and then eighty eight for the top
- 22:34Speaker 3: spec peak.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Do you know what I find's weird too? The base
- 22:37Speaker 1: is the one that will get you the furthest Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 3: And I don't understand that, Like they add all this
- 22:43Speaker 3: extra weight for the dual motor set up, but then
- 22:45Speaker 3: it kills you, It kills your range.
- 22:50Speaker 1: The middle I don't have it in front of me,
- 22:52Speaker 1: but I from memory, I think the middle spec was
- 22:56Speaker 1: the one that was somewhat a similar price to the
- 23:00Speaker 1: three around about seven around about eighty something, but that
- 23:04Speaker 1: was including on roads. Once you get a Tesla on road,
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's similar sort of price, similar distance as well, similar range.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Look, I'll hand.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Yon day that their range is typically pretty on point.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I'm going to be driving one soon, so we'll see
- 23:16Speaker 3: what it's like. But I just looking at the side
- 23:18Speaker 3: profile at the moment, the proportions look like there won't
- 23:21Speaker 3: be much headroom in the second row.
- 23:23Speaker 2: The boot's probably not going to be great. So yeah, yeah,
- 23:27Speaker 2: I just I just.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Wonder why they do this type of thing instead of
- 23:30Speaker 3: just going down the path of building SUVs, because that's
- 23:32Speaker 3: what everyone is buying at the moment.
- 23:33Speaker 2: They go for this super niche product. It just makes
- 23:36Speaker 2: no sense to me. That's my rant.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Thank you for coming to Paul's Ted talk everybody. I'm
- 23:42Speaker 1: the same. That rear quarter window kind of looks like
- 23:45Speaker 1: bendy and pointy and it just makes me feel funny
- 23:48Speaker 1: and the tummy.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Um, it's that pizza that you're gorging on at the moment.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Maybe it's the Subway foot long that I enjoyed while charging.
- 23:56Speaker 2: MAV beautiful, beautiful segue.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Thank you. I'm taking the rest of the show off.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You'd be happy about that, Daniel, go fuck yourself.
- 24:07Speaker 3: So yeah, fast food giants. Subway is building an ev
- 24:10Speaker 3: charging network.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yeah well, actually it's called the charging oasis.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Charging.
- 24:16Speaker 3: I'm not ever going to a charging oasis, no matter
- 24:18Speaker 3: how good it.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Is food involved.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's true. A big old foot long meatball.
- 24:27Speaker 3: It is actually a really good idea, and I've seen
- 24:29Speaker 3: this in the UK before at some of those services
- 24:31Speaker 3: that are off the road where they'll be all based
- 24:34Speaker 3: around these food outlets, and it's actually a really good
- 24:36Speaker 3: idea because it means that you've got a place to
- 24:39Speaker 3: go to eat that you can charge your car at.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Typically a subway meal is like a twenty minute sort
- 24:44Speaker 3: of exercise.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Talk to.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I've seen you have to show restraint before when
- 24:52Speaker 3: just necking a hole.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I can usually just lay it down on the table
- 24:55Speaker 1: and in through my nose, just like a plate of
- 24:59Speaker 1: k Marko.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Gay. I think this is I think.
- 25:02Speaker 3: This is the way to go because it really sort
- 25:04Speaker 3: of builds on that ethoss of you get your food
- 25:06Speaker 3: fast to charge your car fast away you go. So
- 25:09Speaker 3: because at the moment, the whole business model of a
- 25:12Speaker 3: servo doesn't really work because a servo is a place
- 25:14Speaker 3: you're in and out really quickly. Sticking a few charges
- 25:17Speaker 3: on the side there doesn't make sense because you haven't
- 25:19Speaker 3: got thirty minutes worth of stuff to do at a servo, you.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Know what I mean.
- 25:23Speaker 3: So I think that this concept is really going to
- 25:25Speaker 3: take off, and we're going to have to see.
- 25:27Speaker 2: A lot of servos diversifying.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Their business models to bring in a lot of these
- 25:30Speaker 3: fast food outlets to really make it worthwhile the trip.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You know what they could add there too, would be
- 25:35Speaker 1: a car wash. Imagine if like you could buger off
- 25:37Speaker 1: for a couple of hours, have food, cars charged, cars washed?
- 25:42Speaker 3: Can we go to wash your car? Let's charging? Oh water, electricity?
- 25:48Speaker 1: Don't I always thought it was normal. Mo'm always used
- 25:52Speaker 1: to chuck a toaster. And when I was in the bath,
- 25:56Speaker 1: she was crying, but she did mumble a few inaudible things,
- 26:03Speaker 1: something about my dad. I can't remember.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Should we talk a car review?
- 26:07Speaker 1: We should talk a car review.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Ye's let's go with something affordable. You know, I think
- 26:11Speaker 3: we always we always talk about expensive stuff, and I
- 26:15Speaker 3: think a lot of the complaints we get that we're
- 26:17Speaker 3: not really just covering affordable stuff.
- 26:20Speaker 1: So every day sort of the everyday man car. I agree,
- 26:23Speaker 1: that's it.
- 26:24Speaker 2: So what have you got?
- 26:26Speaker 1: I've got a Porsche GT three RS, right, the Porsche
- 26:31Speaker 1: GT three RS. Listen. Before we do this, I just
- 26:34Speaker 1: want to quickly shout out to our good friends and
- 26:37Speaker 1: we're going to put their handle on this screen. To
- 26:40Speaker 1: Sydney Luxury Higher. They do basically exotic car high rentals,
- 26:44Speaker 1: so stuff like Lambeau's, Bentley's, Ferrari's Porsche GT three RS.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And you get to drive this too, by the way,
- 26:52Speaker 1: so this is something you can actually properly drive around
- 26:55Speaker 1: all day. You know, you can drive to your formal
- 26:58Speaker 1: You can drive past your ex girl friend's house and
- 27:00Speaker 1: pretend you're successful. You can you can drive to Pavlai's
- 27:06Speaker 1: house and throw some throw some what's up?
- 27:10Speaker 2: Did you do that in the stonic to look at me? No?
- 27:23Speaker 1: Actually, do you know what?
- 27:24Speaker 2: I did?
- 27:24Speaker 1: Do a bit of a test with a stonic outside's
- 27:27Speaker 1: girlfriend's house. I just wanted to test how long the
- 27:29Speaker 1: horn would last. Anyway, My point is, yeah, check him out.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Handles on the screen we'll put I don't know a
- 27:38Speaker 1: link in the description of this podcast, but good people,
- 27:41Speaker 1: thank you for lending us the car. We really enjoyed it,
- 27:45Speaker 1: probably a bit too much. This car nearly killed me
- 27:48Speaker 1: and our producer. I feel partly responsible for that. This
- 27:52Speaker 1: is a second hand car. Technically it's not a press car,
- 27:55Speaker 1: so it's you know, it's a twenty what was it
- 27:57Speaker 1: twenty eighteen? Obviously not the new one, but I thought
- 28:01Speaker 1: car nearly killed me and our producer. I feel partly
- 28:04Speaker 1: responsible for that. This is a secondhand car. Technically it's
- 28:08Speaker 1: not a press car, so it's you know, it's a
- 28:10Speaker 1: twenty what was it twenty eighteen? Obviously not the new one,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but I thought I thought we would do this because
- 28:18Speaker 1: just to give a bit of an insight into what
- 28:19Speaker 1: it's like to own a supercar like this, I mean,
- 28:21Speaker 1: a five hundred thousand dollar car. And if you look at,
- 28:24Speaker 1: say roughly the newer one, it's it's quite funny how
- 28:27Speaker 1: how little the difference is on paper in a lot
- 28:31Speaker 1: of ways, like they just kind of tweak it, tweak
- 28:34Speaker 1: stuff just to make the figures look a little bit
- 28:37Speaker 1: better on paper. But yeah, look roughly around about five
- 28:39Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars four liter flat six, three hundred and
- 28:43Speaker 1: sixty seven killer, what's four sixty meters of talk This
- 28:45Speaker 1: is like zero to one hundred and three point three seconds.
- 28:48Speaker 1: But the funny part is the newer one is three
- 28:50Speaker 1: point two.
- 28:51Speaker 2: But that's the problem.
- 28:52Speaker 3: They can only extract so much out of a naturally
- 28:55Speaker 3: aspirated engine. And you know they always too, whenever a
- 28:59Speaker 3: new one of these roles around, they always talk about
- 29:01Speaker 3: what's going on beneath the skin, you know what I mean.
- 29:04Speaker 3: So it's always about the mechanical changes underneath that get
- 29:08Speaker 3: you just that tiny bit more you know, tiny bit
- 29:12Speaker 3: more acceleration, tiny bit more track handling. It really is
- 29:16Speaker 3: all about just that minute difference between the previous one
- 29:19Speaker 3: and the new one.
- 29:21Speaker 1: It's such a but it's funny because everything is a
- 29:24Speaker 1: lot more I'm trying to find the word. It's almost
- 29:27Speaker 1: like a lot more concentrated. I think when you jump
- 29:29Speaker 1: in a car like this, you instantly appreciate everything that
- 29:33Speaker 1: goes into this, from the engineering to the absolute detail.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I mean, you pay five hundred thousand dollars for this
- 29:40Speaker 1: is a spec This really is a special car. There's
- 29:42Speaker 1: a reason why people turn their heads as opposed to,
- 29:46Speaker 1: you know, an everyday consumable sports car. Whether was that
- 29:51Speaker 1: Toyota you had? What was that? What did you drive? Again?
- 29:53Speaker 1: Was this a Supra? All I remember is you? I
- 29:57Speaker 1: remember you had this sports car one point and I
- 29:59Speaker 1: just remember thinking, may as well just get a Suzuki
- 30:03Speaker 1: du t I.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Rukeystomic.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Look the looks of this insane. It's an absolute aggressive beast.
- 30:17Speaker 1: It's a hooligan of a car just to look at,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and it's such a head turner. Ours was the bright
- 30:23Speaker 1: orange one massive wing on the back then galore, just
- 30:28Speaker 1: an angry, just mean looking beast of a car. Like
- 30:32Speaker 1: it really had stance, do you know what I mean?
- 30:33Speaker 2: Yeah? Like they are an incredible looking thing.
- 30:36Speaker 3: And then you know, you look at the next generation
- 30:39Speaker 3: of GT three RS and the GT two like they're
- 30:43Speaker 3: now at the point where it's all about error and
- 30:45Speaker 3: extracting every little bit you can out of it. And
- 30:47Speaker 3: the irony is you see most of these cars just
- 30:50Speaker 3: driving around the street, you know, with people like you
- 30:52Speaker 3: behind the wheel, and as a result of that, they
- 30:56Speaker 3: never actually at the track where you know they are
- 30:58Speaker 3: likely to experience, you know, every little bit that they
- 31:02Speaker 3: can out of these things.
- 31:03Speaker 2: They really are quite an incredible machine.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I feel like the new ones. Isn't it funny Like
- 31:07Speaker 1: when we were kids and we had remote controlled cars
- 31:09Speaker 1: and you just look at it and go, wow, that
- 31:10Speaker 1: thing's wild. It's like now they've built those, it's just
- 31:13Speaker 1: like the look of them just looks like something like
- 31:15Speaker 1: a fucking Lego toy.
- 31:17Speaker 3: It's crazy, yeah, bloody unreal. And the cool thing as
- 31:21Speaker 3: well is they're actually kind of practical. If you drive
- 31:23Speaker 3: a Lamber or something like that, they're very hard to
- 31:26Speaker 3: park and just not very practical, whereas with a nine
- 31:29Speaker 3: to eleven you can get a front lifter. They've got
- 31:32Speaker 3: the ability to get cameras and all this sort of
- 31:34Speaker 3: stuff that actually makes it drivable and usable.
- 31:36Speaker 2: And not all that scary, which I think is a
- 31:39Speaker 2: big bonus.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I was going to say that it's got like
- 31:41Speaker 1: the electronically raised axle up the front, so if you're
- 31:44Speaker 1: going over a speed hump or the driveway for instance,
- 31:48Speaker 1: at this radio state, at this podcast studio, Wow, we
- 31:52Speaker 1: needed that. But yeah, there are there are all sorts
- 31:55Speaker 1: of things. I think practicality, it is very fifty to
- 31:58Speaker 1: fifty supposed to be a track car that you can daily.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Would I daily this car? Would you daily this car?
- 32:06Speaker 2: I don't know. Some people do, and I can understand
- 32:09Speaker 2: the appeal, but I don't know.
- 32:11Speaker 3: It's one of those things that you'd have to be
- 32:13Speaker 3: very brave and very happy to be comfortable with it
- 32:19Speaker 3: being damaged potentially as a daily It.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Just genuinely feels seventy percent track car. Yeap, it really does.
- 32:27Speaker 1: You do sit in a car like this and you
- 32:29Speaker 1: drive it, and you give it everything, and you explore
- 32:31Speaker 1: everything about it from you know, the chassis, and you
- 32:34Speaker 1: pull limits on it, and you just you really sort
- 32:38Speaker 1: of try to get to know this as much as
- 32:40Speaker 1: legally possible. And man, I think for the first time
- 32:45Speaker 1: in a long time, I really sat there, and I
- 32:47Speaker 1: really appreciated the refinement that goes into this and the
- 32:49Speaker 1: price tag it deserves. The engineering and it's almost in
- 32:53Speaker 1: a lot of ways easy to drive one of these
- 32:55Speaker 1: cars fast than it is. I don't know, a Supra,
- 33:01Speaker 1: you're a bitch. It just it looks it just yah,
- 33:07Speaker 1: it just feels excellent. It's the sort of car that
- 33:09Speaker 1: you sit in and you go, I'm not ready for this,
- 33:12Speaker 1: but we're doing this, and it's go. It's just a
- 33:15Speaker 1: it's just such a beautiful car. I mean, I've always
- 33:18Speaker 1: you know, I'm a massive Porsche fanboy, but when you
- 33:21Speaker 1: sit in a machine like this that's just so well
- 33:24Speaker 1: engineered in every single way.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That's that's probably what it is the most.
- 33:28Speaker 3: It just feels really well engineered and yeah, just really
- 33:32Speaker 3: nicely put together. Yeah, the new GT three RS has
- 33:36Speaker 3: this enormous wing like it is just the most stupid
- 33:40Speaker 3: looking thing, and I just love every bit of it.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I just think that's cool.
- 33:44Speaker 1: If you pair it down, if you water it down,
- 33:46Speaker 1: even the whole nine nine two line like it, the
- 33:48Speaker 1: whole thing just looks stoic, like it just has a
- 33:51Speaker 1: beautiful presence. It's that it's that classic gentlemanly Porsche Vibe.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly like it's yeah, I don't know, you can.
- 34:02Speaker 3: It's it's a car that should age poorly but doesn't.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Like it doesn't change all that much in terms of
- 34:07Speaker 3: its design, but it is still a really appealing looking car.
- 34:10Speaker 3: But but you know, really, just it is so much
- 34:14Speaker 3: fun to drive.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Definitely, the pros on this is everything. CON's more of
- 34:19Speaker 1: a track car. It's just it's violent. It'll, you know,
- 34:23Speaker 1: throw you around, it'll make you feel great. But yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 1: it's it's a it's a not a I don't know.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I just could not daily this car, poor Marty. We
- 34:32Speaker 1: took it for a bit of a spin, and Marty
- 34:35Speaker 1: saw the face of God.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Legally legally is that the nickname for your okay, No,
- 34:43Speaker 3: it was actually a bit.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Oh you're talking about my penis? Yeah, I call it.
- 34:48Speaker 1: I call that stomach. Really represents my personality. Zippy and economical.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yeah, undesirable, it doesn't take too much on fuel.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Whatever that means. Stop laughing.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I just thought i'd read through a little bit of
- 35:02Speaker 3: feedback that we got a couple of ratings that you
- 35:04Speaker 3: guys very generously left for us, so we can see
- 35:08Speaker 3: that people really enjoyed having.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Trevor on the show, which is great, Which is really good?
- 35:13Speaker 3: Is it?
- 35:13Speaker 2: What? I so that I read out a couple of
- 35:16Speaker 2: these couple of.
- 35:17Speaker 3: These ones great podcast from Alan denit extremely entertaining podcasts.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Thank you Alan for dropping that. And hey, if you
- 35:27Speaker 2: are listening, we.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Would really appreciate it if you could leave us a
- 35:31Speaker 3: five star rating on whichever platform you're listening to. This
- 35:33Speaker 3: tax ten seconds to do and leave us a fun
- 35:35Speaker 3: comment there as well, if you want to. But this
- 35:38Speaker 3: one really peaqued my interest. It was from Dave mel
- 35:42Speaker 3: but forty six. I don't know where Dave is from
- 35:46Speaker 3: or how old he would be, but.
- 35:49Speaker 1: I'm guessing he's probably born in nineteen forty six.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Oh what makes you think that?
- 35:54Speaker 3: And where would he be from? Maybe Sydney or something
- 35:57Speaker 3: like that. But anyway, so Dave Melo wrote morons. That's
- 36:03Speaker 3: both of us good. At least he's being inclusive, complete
- 36:07Speaker 3: moronic podcast, full stop Newline. It's a shame to see
- 36:11Speaker 3: Paul has lowered himself to work with the other idiot
- 36:15Speaker 3: full stop.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I agree.
- 36:18Speaker 3: I do love that he actually listened to an episode
- 36:21Speaker 3: and I'm like, well, what was what was he expecting
- 36:24Speaker 3: this was going to be It's literally marked as explicit
- 36:29Speaker 3: on every platform that it's on. So thanks for tuning in, Dave,
- 36:34Speaker 3: and sorry that you're not funny. Oh, actually you don't
- 36:38Speaker 3: find things funny, so maybe I don't know you care
- 36:42Speaker 3: to comment?
- 36:44Speaker 1: Dave's an interesting one because Dave, I can't I can't
- 36:52Speaker 1: pay Dave out. Like Paul Bastard, sitting there with a
- 36:55Speaker 1: bit of dribble on his deck, he doesn't have anything
- 37:00Speaker 1: to go home to his city. Chucks on the ab
- 37:04Speaker 1: say a little bit of.
- 37:05Speaker 2: UK Murder mysteries.
- 37:07Speaker 1: That's what I'll watch, and when that's over he'll hop
- 37:11Speaker 1: into bed.
- 37:13Speaker 2: And I.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Don't know, I just have a feeling this guy looks
- 37:19Speaker 1: a lot like Trevor anyway.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Anyhow.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Look, hey, I don't mind. I don't read you know me,
- 37:24Speaker 1: I don't read the comments. It's water off for ducks
- 37:27Speaker 1: back with me.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Care We do actually have quickly, we did get and look,
- 37:32Speaker 1: I apologize. We did get a stack of emails, a
- 37:34Speaker 1: stack of questions to the guy who was complaining about
- 37:39Speaker 1: his daughter's car getting fixed and parts. We've actually received
- 37:43Speaker 1: about three or four emails from people who have bought
- 37:47Speaker 1: brand new cars from different companies, generally Chinese companies who
- 37:52Speaker 1: have had problems with their cars and simply can't get parts.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Everything's under warranty and they've they've had to wait six
- 37:58Speaker 1: months plus, which I believe it or not. I am
- 38:01Speaker 1: actually doing some homework on that one. I've spoken to
- 38:04Speaker 1: some legal experts. I've even spoken to this that's our
- 38:08Speaker 1: legal expert, which is Toadfish from Neighbors.
- 38:11Speaker 2: No.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I actually have been looking into that, and honestly, there
- 38:14Speaker 1: is some something I want to bring up on that
- 38:16Speaker 1: on the next episode. So please sit tight. You won't
- 38:19Speaker 1: have your parts by then anyway, so don't stress.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, well yeah, if you're listening to these, please
- 38:24Speaker 3: do leave us rating and if you do want to
- 38:25Speaker 3: get in touch, contact that the Drivers Show dot Com
- 38:29Speaker 3: that I use the right email address.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Just quickly, quick question from the DMS. Hey, guys love
- 38:36Speaker 1: the podcast. We're in the market for a new car
- 38:39Speaker 1: looking at leasing. Do you think prices have used ice
- 38:43Speaker 1: cars will drop with the uptake of evs in the
- 38:47Speaker 1: next few years. Also, what would be your recommendations for
- 38:50Speaker 1: a new hybrid slash FEV under sixty k ish keep
- 38:54Speaker 1: it up, Ball as you go first price wise, maybe
- 38:58Speaker 1: the Artlander. I did have this hybrid, but I think
- 39:01Speaker 1: that's a little bit over sixty k that was fairly smooth.
- 39:06Speaker 1: It just you know, it's very similar to the normal
- 39:09Speaker 1: Santa Fe it's do you know what. I found it
- 39:13Speaker 1: kind of annoying because it's quite smooth up to about
- 39:15Speaker 1: sixty k's and then it's like this tiny little engine
- 39:17Speaker 1: fucking kicks in it. It's the loudest thing ever. So
- 39:19Speaker 1: I found that annoying, but the fit out is excellent.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I actually would say the X Trail.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Okay, oh, the E Force one, yeah, I hate that name,
- 39:30Speaker 3: but yeah, the Hybrid one, yeah it's great.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Yeah, okay cool. So for me, it's going to be
- 39:36Speaker 2: slightly different.
- 39:37Speaker 3: So the reason I'm going with a different approach is
- 39:39Speaker 3: because of the word leasing. At the moment, the government
- 39:44Speaker 3: has incentives in place. If you are doing a novated
- 39:47Speaker 3: lease and you're buying an electric vehicle and I believe
- 39:49Speaker 3: a plugging hybrid vehicle, under the luxury car tax threshold,
- 39:53Speaker 3: you can actually claim one hundred percent FBT exemption. That
- 39:56Speaker 3: means you're going to be paying less tax to the government.
- 39:58Speaker 3: You're going to be paying less taxable income, you'll have
- 40:03Speaker 3: less taxable income as well.
- 40:05Speaker 2: So having that said, I would have.
- 40:07Speaker 3: A look at Oh my god, it's just shoving the
- 40:11Speaker 3: biggest piece of pizza in his mouth.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Sorry, I would have a look at.
- 40:15Speaker 1: There you saying something important, a.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Look at the Outland of plug in hybrid, because that
- 40:20Speaker 3: meets that brief and it means that you're going to
- 40:22Speaker 3: save money. Keep in mind, though, if you are emailing
- 40:25Speaker 3: us from Victoria, that you also have to pay a
- 40:28Speaker 3: per kilometer tax on plug in hybrids, which is the
- 40:30Speaker 3: most idiotic thing in the world, because it's impossible to
- 40:32Speaker 3: actually to split the difference between when you're driving on
- 40:37Speaker 3: electric and when you're driving on internal combustion. So yeah,
- 40:40Speaker 3: I would have a look at Outlander plug in hybrid
- 40:43Speaker 3: if you are doing at least it's a big enough car,
- 40:46Speaker 3: really good to drive, and I think it'll take all
- 40:48Speaker 3: those boxes.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Okay, thanks for out of time, Jesus Christ. That was
- 40:53Speaker 1: very comprehensive. Thank you, Pavel. Yeah, I'm glad I answered
- 40:57Speaker 1: it with three different cars and then you just turned
- 41:00Speaker 1: to comment into a conversation.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Anyway, Ah, yes, contacted the Driver show dot com dot
- 41:08Speaker 1: you please, I don't know what do they need to
- 41:11Speaker 1: do again? Please rate, subscribe. We have a YouTube channel
- 41:15Speaker 1: now if you want to see my alcoholic looking face
- 41:19Speaker 1: and Paul doing a podcast as he's doing an assignment
- 41:23Speaker 1: for TAFE.
- 41:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to jazz this little area up. Normally
- 41:27Speaker 3: I'm in the studio with you, but today I'm obviously working.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Like, yeah, you need you need a quick little trip
- 41:33Speaker 1: down to Typo and get some fairy lights. He comes back.
- 41:39Speaker 1: He's got some like some sort of ceramic owl statue
- 41:43Speaker 1: and a live laugh love Figer poster. Oh well, thanks
- 41:50Speaker 1: for joining us, everybody,
