Transcript
- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zam. I'm kind of honest.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Stephens, Brian Sexton, and John Oser are with me today
- 0:21Speaker 2: is we're gonna recap rookie Mini caamps that kicked off
- 0:23Speaker 2: last week. We gotta look at all the newest Jags
- 0:25Speaker 2: players and it did not disappoint as much as Mini
- 0:28Speaker 2: Camp really can. So let's start out with our first
- 0:29Speaker 2: big thing of the day, which is star of the show,
- 0:32Speaker 2: Travis Hunter.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Of course, all eyes were on.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Him as we got to see him in the Jaguars
- 0:35Speaker 2: uniform for the first time and brought the energy for sure.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yes, it's definitely.
- 0:40Speaker 4: It's definitely a blessing to you know, be able to
- 0:42Speaker 4: do that. You know, I gotta be authentic, you know,
- 0:44Speaker 4: gotta bring the end v up out here.
- 0:46Speaker 5: You know, make sure everybody everyone is having fun, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 5: with a smile on their face and doing below.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Why is that important, Bryan?
- 0:54Speaker 2: We saw him out there dancing, but he takes it
- 0:56Speaker 2: seriously too, so he's not just out there having fun.
- 0:58Speaker 2: But nice to finally see him out there and fans
- 1:00Speaker 2: got to stay on Saturday as well.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, listen for hey, mini camp, you're running
- 1:03Speaker 5: around running routes. I thought he was the star of
- 1:06Speaker 5: the show more for that social media post from his
- 1:08Speaker 5: seat mate on the flight home from Denver to Colorado,
- 1:11Speaker 5: the lady who had no idea who he was. He
- 1:13Speaker 5: helped her with the bag, yes, ma'am, no, ma'am, and
- 1:16Speaker 5: before you knew it, she's talking about becoming the season
- 1:18Speaker 5: ticket holder. I mean, he's the star of the show
- 1:20Speaker 5: for so many reasons right now, but not the least
- 1:23Speaker 5: among them is that when you hear of an interaction
- 1:26Speaker 5: with this superstar athlete, it's always my, gosh, what a
- 1:29Speaker 5: really nice guy. I'm really excited about him.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it's from the too good to be true department.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I saw that post and the old Sinnecon was like,
- 1:38Speaker 4: I wonder if somebody's set this up. I mean, because
- 1:41Speaker 4: it was so cool that you thought it couldn't be real.
- 1:44Speaker 4: But this is who he is beyond that. On the field,
- 1:50Speaker 4: he's fast, he's quick, he's all the things he is
- 1:52Speaker 4: advertised with Rocky Maincamp. You just wanted to see him look,
- 1:56Speaker 4: uber quick, uber athletics.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It's good that he's also a super good kid too.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Well to your pois Kai, the fans had an opportunity
- 2:05Speaker 5: to just be around him and that was what it
- 2:08Speaker 5: was all about, was to give them an opportunity to
- 2:10Speaker 5: see this next generation of Jaguars superstar, to feel the
- 2:14Speaker 5: buzz and connect and from that perspective, what an outrageously
- 2:18Speaker 5: successful hour that was.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Can feel the excitement on the field and off the
- 2:22Speaker 2: field of the fans as well. Our second big thing today,
- 2:24Speaker 2: go many changes last week. This is happening, but Gave
- 2:27Speaker 2: Davis dropped from the team. Obviously not a great free
- 2:30Speaker 2: agent signing from the last administration there as he's only
- 2:34Speaker 2: here one season and a lot of money left on
- 2:36Speaker 2: the line. John, I don't think there's anything we would
- 2:39Speaker 2: be surprised with at this point, because we've seen that
- 2:41Speaker 2: the front office now is not scared to do moves
- 2:44Speaker 2: that they think need to be made and make moves
- 2:46Speaker 2: that need to be made, and this was just a
- 2:48Speaker 2: move they felt they had to make.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Yeah, And sometimes when you have regime chant moves and
- 2:54Speaker 4: you have made moves the previous offseason, you have contracts
- 2:58Speaker 4: that you sort of get rid of. Usually those guys
- 3:02Speaker 4: stay through because of cap reasons. Brian, the Jaguars decided
- 3:06Speaker 4: this was not the right fit, and I think culturally
- 3:09Speaker 4: they wanted to move on.
- 3:10Speaker 5: You know, I don't know is this the catch or
- 3:12Speaker 5: the drop in the end zone in that's a catch,
- 3:16Speaker 5: remember the drop. It was the opening drive. The Jaguars
- 3:19Speaker 5: had been bouncing around and had no success, and they
- 3:22Speaker 5: desperately needed something from their thirteen million dollar receiver last year.
- 3:26Speaker 5: And you get to the Bears game and he drops
- 3:29Speaker 5: it and have to settle for a field goal, and
- 3:30Speaker 5: it seemed like they were on their heels. Just I
- 3:32Speaker 5: don't ever think he fits. He seemed like one of
- 3:35Speaker 5: those knee jerk free agent signings last year that the
- 3:38Speaker 5: Jaguars have too often engaged in. It's nice to see
- 3:42Speaker 5: this year that they didn't go that direction, give.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Some opportunity for the rookies and maybe some of the
- 3:48Speaker 2: undrafted players a chance to kind of make their way
- 3:50Speaker 2: in the wide receiver room as well. So our final
- 3:52Speaker 2: big thing today is when the schedule a release. It's
- 3:54Speaker 2: officially coming out tomorrow, but we do know now that
- 3:57Speaker 2: the Daguars are going to play one game in London
- 3:59Speaker 2: and they're going to take on the in week seventh. Brian,
- 4:02Speaker 2: the last couple of years we've played two there. This
- 4:03Speaker 2: year only one game, and one needs to expect we'll
- 4:06Speaker 2: talk a little bit more about the schedule coming out,
- 4:07Speaker 2: but when do you think about the Lendon game.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Well, the why behind that is that the Jaguars have
- 4:11Speaker 5: always said it had to match up, there had to
- 4:13Speaker 5: be an opponent that was giving up their home game
- 4:16Speaker 5: in order for it to fit. And it didn't fit
- 4:18Speaker 5: this year. Obviously, in twenty six and twenty seven, when
- 4:21Speaker 5: the stadium is under serious construction, you can expect multiple
- 4:25Speaker 5: games back in London. Then, John, the league never misses
- 4:29Speaker 5: the opportunity to have some sort of drama on the side,
- 4:33Speaker 5: and obviously the storyline will be Liam Cohen and James
- 4:37Speaker 5: Gladstone and their first year taking on the Rams.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gonna be a cool three or four days,
- 4:43Speaker 4: a cool story. And as you said, the reason there's
- 4:47Speaker 4: not two is there's no opponent. And kai guess what
- 4:50Speaker 4: in the NFL, it's hard to play without an opponent.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Okay, and listen, it's worth pointing out remember when everybody
- 4:57Speaker 5: was worried about the Jaguars playing multiple games in London,
- 5:00Speaker 5: and now you see a situation where they're saying, look,
- 5:02Speaker 5: it just didn't fit, so we're not But look at
- 5:04Speaker 5: all the games that the NFL announced this morning. John,
- 5:07Speaker 5: You've got games in Madrid and I forget whether it
- 5:10Speaker 5: was Berlin or Frankfurt for the game in Germany, and
- 5:13Speaker 5: multiple games in London and in Dublin. And we haven't
- 5:18Speaker 5: even heard who the Chargers opponent is going to be
- 5:20Speaker 5: when they go back to Brazil this year. I mean,
- 5:22Speaker 5: this is just man, this is where the league is
- 5:24Speaker 5: headed to, this international platform, and it's exciting in one
- 5:28Speaker 5: sense because you see all the places they're spreading the game.
- 5:32Speaker 1: An expansion for sure. Stay with us.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We're going to talk a little bit more about Mini
- 5:35Speaker 2: Caamp through a recapital here from your head coach, Liam Cohen.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Coming back in to jag Za. I'm going to talk
- 5:42Speaker 1: a little.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Bit more about Mini camp because that's what went down
- 5:45Speaker 2: last week with the rookies getting in here trying to
- 5:47Speaker 2: figure everything out. Obviously, the start of the show was
- 5:49Speaker 2: Travis Hunter and Cohen talked a little bit about his
- 5:52Speaker 2: new star player. No.
- 5:54Speaker 6: You know when he got here after the draft. You know,
- 5:58Speaker 6: we got to hang out with him for for a
- 6:00Speaker 6: little bit there, and you felt it right away, right
- 6:03Speaker 6: you did. You felt that infectious smile that he has
- 6:06Speaker 6: that he provides and brings into the building, very serious
- 6:09Speaker 6: about football, very serious about his process in order to
- 6:15Speaker 6: put himself in a position to ultimately just be in
- 6:18Speaker 6: a physical shape to be able to do this and
- 6:20Speaker 6: to run forever, and to have the stamina and strength
- 6:23Speaker 6: to be able to do this at a high level.
- 6:25Speaker 6: But you see him out there dancing and having fun,
- 6:27Speaker 6: and that's.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Really cool to see.
- 6:29Speaker 6: You know, we want to see some more of that.
- 6:31Speaker 6: And when he goes out there and he's doing his thing,
- 6:33Speaker 6: he is serious about this process.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Talked a little bit about what he's like off the field,
- 6:38Speaker 2: obviously that viral posting about his plane ride back from Boulder,
- 6:42Speaker 2: but just seeing him interact with the other players right,
- 6:46Speaker 2: the energy, it's infectious, And we talked a little bit
- 6:48Speaker 2: about his off the field. Just the star power that's
- 6:50Speaker 2: going to come along with this is pretty cool.
- 6:53Speaker 5: I wonder whether his personality John is going to take
- 6:55Speaker 5: over and become the persona of this team. You know,
- 6:59Speaker 5: Trevor's his doesn't just exude like this guy does. They're
- 7:03Speaker 5: just not the same personality. This one is much that
- 7:07Speaker 5: once loud. It's probably not the right word, but man,
- 7:09Speaker 5: you feel it when you're around it, and for all
- 7:11Speaker 5: the good guys in the locker room and the strong leaders.
- 7:15Speaker 5: This personality is different. And by the way he's used
- 7:19Speaker 5: to his personality being the personality of his team. It
- 7:21Speaker 5: was in high school, at Jackson State and at Colorado.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Yeh, some guys just when they come into the league,
- 7:28Speaker 4: they're ready to lead.
- 7:30Speaker 3: By being themselves.
- 7:31Speaker 4: When I was in Indie, Bob Sanders came in second
- 7:34Speaker 4: round draft pick, and it would have been a Hall
- 7:36Speaker 4: of Fame safety had he not gotten hurt.
- 7:38Speaker 3: But from day one he knew he belonged right.
- 7:41Speaker 4: And in terms of his personality, this is not fair
- 7:47Speaker 4: to Travis Hunter. But I keep thinking about how Magic
- 7:52Speaker 4: Johnson changed kream Ab bil Jabbar just by being himself.
- 7:56Speaker 3: And nobody thought.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Kream At Bilgebar could ever have fun on the court
- 7:59Speaker 4: in the seventies. And Magic Johnson was such a dynamic
- 8:02Speaker 4: personality that he's sort of changed the way the Lakers
- 8:06Speaker 4: did business. Now you have to be great to do that.
- 8:08Speaker 4: But Travis Hunter, you know all the stuff with Gladstone
- 8:12Speaker 4: talking about intangibly rich and how you can come into
- 8:14Speaker 4: an environment and raise it by being yourself. I don't
- 8:18Speaker 4: think this kid knows any other way to be and
- 8:21Speaker 4: because it comes from a place of integrity, it's who
- 8:26Speaker 4: he is. He can get away to danceing on the field.
- 8:29Speaker 4: You also need to be pretty good to dance in
- 8:31Speaker 4: the field. I've watched guys in this organization dance during
- 8:35Speaker 4: warm ups who weren't very good, and all I wanted
- 8:37Speaker 4: to do was telling him to stop dancing. But this guy,
- 8:42Speaker 4: it's not for show. It's who he is. He's always
- 8:47Speaker 4: like to use the term over his feet, He's always
- 8:49Speaker 4: being himself and if he's good and great, then I
- 8:53Speaker 4: absolutely think he'll be the personality of the team and.
- 8:55Speaker 5: He may make it easier for more quiet star players
- 8:59Speaker 5: like Brian Thomas to just be himself and play ball
- 9:02Speaker 5: and not.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Worry about it.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And I think that's one of the cool points about
- 9:04Speaker 2: this is we talk a lot about the new regime
- 9:06Speaker 2: coming in and I think in the last couple of
- 9:08Speaker 2: years they've struggled with this as well. Is making an
- 9:11Speaker 2: identity for themselves or when you have players who already
- 9:14Speaker 2: know who they are and I'm using that term who
- 9:17Speaker 2: he is as a person, but also as a player.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He feels like he understands his own skill set and
- 9:20Speaker 2: what he can contribute to a team that can give
- 9:22Speaker 2: you the identity that we feel like I've been lacking
- 9:25Speaker 2: for a while.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean we're talking about his personality so much.
- 9:28Speaker 5: A because it's the time of year, but b because
- 9:31Speaker 5: that's one of the things that Jaguars were planning on
- 9:34Speaker 5: when they swung big to go up and get him.
- 9:37Speaker 5: He's that kind of transformative personality on the field and
- 9:40Speaker 5: off the field. They're expecting it. They're expecting him to
- 9:44Speaker 5: buy being himself transform this place.
- 9:47Speaker 2: All right, let's talk a little bit more about Mini camp.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I know it's John's favorite time of year, but coach
- 9:53Speaker 2: did talk a little bit about what he actually has
- 9:55Speaker 2: in terms of expectations and what they were working on
- 9:57Speaker 2: this week.
- 9:59Speaker 6: Called that an alignment assignment period where you know, we
- 10:03Speaker 6: can we've installed plays right on both sides of the ball, concepts, uh, formations, motions,
- 10:10Speaker 6: shifts defensively you know, calls right adjustments to these formations
- 10:15Speaker 6: and motions and shifts, and so it was just a
- 10:17Speaker 6: good op to kind of get out there, get the
- 10:20Speaker 6: huddle or I mean, it's wild when you pull these
- 10:23Speaker 6: guys on. How many of the ben in the huddle
- 10:25Speaker 6: recently and how many have heard of verbal cadence recently,
- 10:29Speaker 6: it's very minimal. So we are actually teaching this is
- 10:33Speaker 6: the huddle, this is where you line up in the huddle,
- 10:35Speaker 6: this is how we break the huddle, and this is
- 10:38Speaker 6: a verbal cadence. And so that is like starting at
- 10:41Speaker 6: you know, ground zero in a lot of ways. So
- 10:44Speaker 6: didn't really feel like it was fully necessary to come
- 10:47Speaker 6: and do true competitive eleven on eleven. But at the
- 10:50Speaker 6: end of the day, I think we got something out
- 10:52Speaker 6: of it sewn.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Perhaps the state of college football at this point, but.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Showing them what a huddle is, you know, showing them
- 10:57Speaker 2: they are a proper alignments are where they're going to
- 10:59Speaker 2: be placed, dot on the.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Line, just the little things.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Got to get those in order because if you want
- 11:03Speaker 2: to join regular practice this week, they need to know
- 11:06Speaker 2: what's going on.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think it's a very I think more
- 11:10Speaker 4: coaches are talking about it now, but I absolutely think
- 11:13Speaker 4: it's a huge factor when guys coming to the league.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Quarterbacks Trevor had not been in professional huddle and scrimmage
- 11:24Speaker 4: situations very much. So yeah, there's a learning curve. It's
- 11:28Speaker 4: what makes this time of year so critical for in
- 11:32Speaker 4: a new regime, but for rookies always, even if they
- 11:36Speaker 4: never take a hit, which they don't, this time of year,
- 11:38Speaker 4: it's vital because they're having to learn new, instinctive, natural
- 11:44Speaker 4: things to do. They're having to get their muscle memory
- 11:47Speaker 4: back from something they never had before.
- 11:49Speaker 5: It's not the most important time of the year, but
- 11:51Speaker 5: it's really valuable for the reasons that you just said.
- 11:55Speaker 5: The consistent programs, I mean, the teams that win consistently
- 11:59Speaker 5: are the teams find ways to maximize their hour on
- 12:02Speaker 5: the field of a Saturday in May. And it's pretty
- 12:06Speaker 5: clear listening to Liam kind of go through the litany
- 12:09Speaker 5: of reasons and rationale there of what they were trying
- 12:12Speaker 5: to do that this is a hyper organized coaching staff
- 12:15Speaker 5: that is making sure they maximize their time on the field,
- 12:19Speaker 5: and it.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Is that time of year where you learn the little things.
- 12:21Speaker 2: This is how we're going to run this, so then
- 12:22Speaker 2: it's not a question when it gets to training camp
- 12:25Speaker 2: or the season. They know how things are going to operate.
- 12:28Speaker 1: So let's hear a.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Little bit also from coach talking about some of the
- 12:31Speaker 2: players that stood out to him.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Jack Kaiser first and foremost on the defensive side of
- 12:38Speaker 6: the ball, just from a diligent standpoint. You could tell
- 12:42Speaker 6: he's already had some of those leadership qualities that you
- 12:45Speaker 6: look for. He's in really good physical shape coming into
- 12:50Speaker 6: camp here this weekend. I think Caleb Randsaw as well
- 12:53Speaker 6: stood out on the defensive secondary. Wyatt Milam did a
- 12:57Speaker 6: nice job in the drills over the course of the
- 12:59Speaker 6: last two days. And you know, really all these guys
- 13:02Speaker 6: did a great job. You know, we'll be able to
- 13:03Speaker 6: go watch the tape from today. A lot of mistakes
- 13:06Speaker 6: and things that did happen to occur yesterday, but that's
- 13:08Speaker 6: part of it. But overall, really appreciate their energy and enthusiasm.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Ran those are some names we're familiar with, obviously being complimentary,
- 13:16Speaker 2: but it does give me a little bit of a
- 13:19Speaker 2: sense that some of those guys can compete for starting jobs.
- 13:21Speaker 2: We've been talking about it, but it really does feel
- 13:23Speaker 2: that way, and it doesn't always feel that way with.
- 13:24Speaker 5: The rookie listen. I I just because I knew we'd
- 13:26Speaker 5: spend so much time talking about Travis Hunter, I went
- 13:28Speaker 5: a different direction and I wrote it for the website.
- 13:31Speaker 5: I spent most of my time just watching why Att
- 13:33Speaker 5: Milam and listen the eye test you see him immediately
- 13:36Speaker 5: you realize, okay, he's built different than most of the
- 13:38Speaker 5: rookie offensive linemen they come in.
- 13:40Speaker 3: He's big, he's tall.
- 13:42Speaker 5: He's broad, and he moves really well. That's all you
- 13:46Speaker 5: can see, right is the movement's skills. So I looked
- 13:49Speaker 5: at that and I thought, well, there's no reason just
- 13:51Speaker 5: pencil him in. I mean, make him starter. Let's go.
- 13:54Speaker 1: This line's going to look a lot different.
- 13:56Speaker 5: I think, well, I mean, I think so. But when
- 13:57Speaker 5: you see the way that he would hit the bag
- 13:59Speaker 5: or explose off the line and then go right to
- 14:01Speaker 5: the coach with the is that what you're looking for?
- 14:03Speaker 5: Sort of am I doing that right? Or my hands
- 14:05Speaker 5: in the right position? It's just clear he's a guy
- 14:08Speaker 5: that belongs. I mean, I don't know whether intangibly rich
- 14:10Speaker 5: john is the right adjective to use in this case,
- 14:13Speaker 5: but in reality that's the type of player that they're
- 14:16Speaker 5: looking for. They got their guy.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Yeah, And as you look more and more at him,
- 14:20Speaker 4: it's hard to figure out sort of why you drop
- 14:22Speaker 4: guys drop.
- 14:23Speaker 3: He was moving from tackle to guard.
- 14:25Speaker 4: This is a kid who's very decorated in college, and
- 14:28Speaker 4: as you say, sometimes with a lignement when they get
- 14:31Speaker 4: out there, even in mini camp you're like, oh, yeah,
- 14:34Speaker 4: it's not really the body type that you like. He
- 14:37Speaker 4: certainly looks the part I'm excited about Kaiser. I think that,
- 14:44Speaker 4: as you said, I think Milam will start and the
- 14:48Speaker 4: third round safety's names escaping me and it shouldn't.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Be Ransom, so I think he starts.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Well.
- 14:53Speaker 5: The running back is somebody that's going to be really
- 14:55Speaker 5: interesting too, because it's clear, even though it was just
- 14:57Speaker 5: rookie minicamp, he's got an explosive first two steps.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Ye, speed is there and the strength as well, I
- 15:04Speaker 2: think is what we're gonna see. So if they can
- 15:06Speaker 2: pass pro well, then they'll see the field.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I'm sure. Stay with us here.
- 15:09Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about the schedule release coming up, and
- 15:11Speaker 2: we'll give you some of our predictions.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Move the freight, Move the freight.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Magellan Transport voted the coolest office space in Jacksonville. Can
- 15:24Speaker 2: head over to Magellanlogistics dot com. Welcome back into jags Am.
- 15:30Speaker 2: We're gonna talk a little bit about the schedule. It's
- 15:32Speaker 2: gonna be coming out officially on Wednesday night, but we
- 15:36Speaker 2: do have one that we already know, which is they've
- 15:38Speaker 2: announced the international games.
- 15:39Speaker 1: So the Jaguars are gonna.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Play one game in London this season. That'll be Week
- 15:42Speaker 2: seven against the Rams. A little bit different from the
- 15:45Speaker 2: last couple of years. We talked about just one game
- 15:47Speaker 2: this season because of the way things worked out with opponents.
- 15:50Speaker 2: But we're gonna try to do our best and make
- 15:52Speaker 2: a couple of guestimates as to what we think the
- 15:54Speaker 2: schedule is gonna look like. So for the season opener,
- 15:57Speaker 2: we all picked a game that we think maybe the
- 15:59Speaker 2: season opener.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Brian, did you go in the cheese?
- 16:00Speaker 5: Well, you don't have the Chiefs a couple of times
- 16:02Speaker 5: the home opener in twenty three, we had him for
- 16:04Speaker 5: the season opener in twenty nineteen and in twenty thirteen.
- 16:10Speaker 5: It just seemed to me like that is a marquee
- 16:13Speaker 5: opponent of the Jaguars, you know, at the beginning of
- 16:16Speaker 5: the season, and have a little sex appeal with the
- 16:19Speaker 5: quarterback and his you know, his tandem of receivers of
- 16:22Speaker 5: Thomas and Hunter. It just seems to me like that's
- 16:25Speaker 5: a good game for opening day with one of the
- 16:29Speaker 5: league's marquee teams against one that they're hoping we'll take
- 16:31Speaker 5: a step forward.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Qus Minsheumani will be coming back. That's right.
- 16:35Speaker 5: I forgot he was there. He was the starter, if
- 16:39Speaker 5: you recall, because Nick Foles got hurt on opening Day
- 16:43Speaker 5: twenty nineteen, which wrecked that season and that's the start
- 16:46Speaker 5: of Midschewmania. That even that that makes it even more.
- 16:48Speaker 5: I'd forgotten he was there.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Completed a bunch of passes in a row.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, John Wade.
- 16:53Speaker 3: I went with the Texans because why not?
- 16:57Speaker 4: Yeah, there were like fourteen opponents. I went to Texans
- 17:02Speaker 4: because and because they opened against Miami last year it
- 17:07Speaker 4: was out of division. Why not put the Texans kind
- 17:12Speaker 4: of hoping, Uh, it's a road game at Houston. Once
- 17:17Speaker 4: when they opened on the road of Houston, they had
- 17:18Speaker 4: a great season off of seventeen.
- 17:20Speaker 3: So it's really hard.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean, it's the schedule always cracks me up because
- 17:26Speaker 4: once it comes out, everybody says, oh, well, that's why
- 17:29Speaker 4: the league did that, And there's five or six things
- 17:31Speaker 4: with the Jaguars.
- 17:31Speaker 3: You can say, well, that's why the league did that.
- 17:33Speaker 4: They were planning on that, But really it's it's mostly arbitrary.
- 17:39Speaker 4: And you can tell I had no clue last year
- 17:41Speaker 4: they were going to open against the Dolphins. In Miami,
- 17:44Speaker 4: and it really didn't have a whole lot of context
- 17:48Speaker 4: freet of team sometimes just the way it falls.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I wanted the Titans mostly because I feel like the
- 17:53Speaker 2: last couple of seasons have.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Been ending up going to Nashville, so I'm gonna will
- 17:57Speaker 1: this into existence. I want to go there when it's
- 17:59Speaker 1: not freezing, So let's let's try to do that in September.
- 18:01Speaker 1: That would be nice.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Let's do what we think there's going to be for
- 18:05Speaker 2: primetime games. I didn't think there would be multiple this year.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I think we all picked one. Maybe a Thursday night
- 18:09Speaker 2: is kind of what we're looking at. But Brian, what
- 18:11Speaker 2: were you looking at?
- 18:13Speaker 5: I went with the Broncos for the obvious storyline of
- 18:15Speaker 5: Travis Hunter's return to Colorado. I think it's a Thursday
- 18:19Speaker 5: night game for sure. I think that there is one
- 18:22Speaker 5: Jaguars primetime game because when you're coming off a four
- 18:25Speaker 5: and thirteen season, you know, and then the year before
- 18:28Speaker 5: the Jaguars didn't perform all that well in primetime. So
- 18:31Speaker 5: I think the Jaguars have a formula with the quarterback
- 18:34Speaker 5: and the receivers and the young coach and Bacelli's return
- 18:37Speaker 5: and all that to be a consistent primetime team into
- 18:42Speaker 5: the future, but this year I think it's just one.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. I went with the Bengals because why not.
- 18:49Speaker 3: It's a road game.
- 18:50Speaker 4: You know. My guess is this year the head coach
- 18:52Speaker 4: flies back with the team if it's a road game
- 18:53Speaker 4: up there, so probably on the storyline I've watched, so
- 18:57Speaker 4: it'd be fun.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I think we all went with road games here, but
- 18:59Speaker 1: I'm thinking of Thursdays.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Well. I went for Sin City because a little night
- 19:02Speaker 2: time get the strip all light up in the background.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Think it'd be nice, very scenic for all.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Of the bump shots for all of the broadcasts. So
- 19:08Speaker 2: I went with Las Vegas. We'll have to see what
- 19:10Speaker 2: that ends up being. And we also did a must
- 19:13Speaker 2: watch game. I did something similar to you, Brian when
- 19:16Speaker 2: we were talking about Travis Hunner going back to Colorado. Also,
- 19:18Speaker 2: you know the Broncos having such a good run at
- 19:20Speaker 2: the end of last season into the playoffs. That's a
- 19:23Speaker 2: game I definitely want to watch and I think will
- 19:25Speaker 2: be good. Also, just in Mile High is always a
- 19:27Speaker 2: nice setting, so I think that'll be a good one
- 19:29Speaker 2: to check out.
- 19:29Speaker 5: I'll go with the Texans because well, because they've won
- 19:32Speaker 5: the division the last two years, but I mean since
- 19:35Speaker 5: the first time they showed up here in two thousand
- 19:37Speaker 5: and two as an expansion team, they have just be
- 19:38Speaker 5: deviled the Jaguars. I mean, the Jews record against them
- 19:41Speaker 5: is abysmal. You'd think that this was the Patriots they
- 19:43Speaker 5: were playing, and yet they just can't seem to get
- 19:46Speaker 5: over on them. They did in twenty twenty two when
- 19:48Speaker 5: that team was in real trouble, but the last two
- 19:51Speaker 5: years not so much. So I think the titan a
- 19:54Speaker 5: pardon me, the Texans game is super important because listen,
- 19:57Speaker 5: if you want to win the division, you have to
- 19:58Speaker 5: beat them.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Yes, point, I'm gonna see this team stand up to
- 20:02Speaker 4: that team of Quoth had last year, So I think
- 20:04Speaker 4: that'll I think it'll be a major storyline. But I
- 20:09Speaker 4: do kind of think. I had no real issue with
- 20:11Speaker 4: how the Jaguar was handled it last year, but I
- 20:13Speaker 4: think in this it might be handled a little bit different.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I went with the Rams in London for for reasons
- 20:20Speaker 4: we talked about earlier. It's in London, but from a
- 20:25Speaker 4: philosophical standpoint, a knowing how Gladstone unless Snee, the Rams
- 20:30Speaker 4: general manager feel about each other, the Mentor and the
- 20:34Speaker 4: Jaguars have said this is the North start. This is
- 20:36Speaker 4: the organization that they sort of would like to gear
- 20:40Speaker 4: toward being and then eventually surpassing, because you want to
- 20:43Speaker 4: be better. But this is sort of their standard right now,
- 20:46Speaker 4: so it's it will be interesting on that front.
- 20:48Speaker 3: You don't get you don't.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Get that many clear storylines like that in the NFL.
- 20:54Speaker 4: You get ones people talk into existence. But this one's
- 20:58Speaker 4: pretty real, you know what with Liam had having been
- 21:00Speaker 4: there in the McVeigh connection, there are some real ties
- 21:03Speaker 4: with this one.
- 21:03Speaker 3: It'd be interesting.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Definitely stay with us.
- 21:05Speaker 2: We'll tell you what's going on the rest of the
- 21:06Speaker 2: week and warning schedule leases. Welcome back to jag Zam,
- 21:12Speaker 2: brought to you by Fresh from Florida. It is always
- 21:15Speaker 2: in season right now. It's mini camp season, Ota season.
- 21:19Speaker 2: We're getting to see the players working out a little bit.
- 21:22Speaker 2: No real football just yet, but gotta lay the groundwork
- 21:25Speaker 2: of course. And Travis Hunter was a day late coming
- 21:28Speaker 2: into camp. He didn't miss any practice time, but just
- 21:30Speaker 2: kind of getting signed up because he was graduating from
- 21:33Speaker 2: the University of Colorado on Thursday last week, so that's
- 21:37Speaker 2: pretty exciting for him. The first guy and his family
- 21:40Speaker 2: to graduate from college walk across that stage a big
- 21:42Speaker 2: moment for him, and of course a team more than
- 21:45Speaker 2: happy to let him go do that wearing JAG's pajama.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Pants no less. So that was his first purchase when
- 21:50Speaker 1: he found out where he's going. He said he had
- 21:52Speaker 1: to get some pajama pants, which I think we can
- 21:54Speaker 1: all relate with. We all like some good peace, you know.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Just the thing I like about him is how well
- 21:58Speaker 5: he explained the little things right. He gives you the
- 22:01Speaker 5: detail that you weren't necessarily asking for.
- 22:03Speaker 2: That.
- 22:03Speaker 5: It was the first thing that he bought from Amazon,
- 22:06Speaker 5: that he was the first person in his family to
- 22:07Speaker 5: graduate from college. And to know his backstory, especially with
- 22:11Speaker 5: his father, to see him hit this height, it's a
- 22:14Speaker 5: great storyline. He's just he's a sensational person. Hopefully he's
- 22:19Speaker 5: a sensational player too.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's going to sound strange from somebody who's
- 22:23Speaker 4: so such a star on social media, but I kind
- 22:27Speaker 4: of like that.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I don't think he.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Really cares that much what people think about, you know,
- 22:31Speaker 4: and meaning he's going to be his own guy. He's
- 22:35Speaker 4: going to sort of march his own way. That's pretty cool.
- 22:39Speaker 4: At that age and to seem with the I don't
- 22:44Speaker 4: know that he's the biggest star in all of sports
- 22:47Speaker 4: since NIL started, but he's in the conversation and or
- 22:53Speaker 4: at that level, and he seems to have handled it
- 22:56Speaker 4: remarkably well with a lot of perspective.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And I wouldn't have done that age twenty to twenty three.
- 23:02Speaker 3: So it's pretty cool.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Absolutely, schedule release coming out tomorrow night. The NFL is
- 23:08Speaker 2: gonna have a reveal John, I believe that's right, and
- 23:10Speaker 2: then we're gonna do our own analysis as well. And
- 23:13Speaker 2: I think there's a video on social coming out.
- 23:15Speaker 1: For our reveal. It's very top secret. It's the top secret.
- 23:18Speaker 4: It's usually a thing say your favorite oh I.
- 23:21Speaker 3: They always do a nice job with them looking.
- 23:22Speaker 5: For Yeah, they do.
- 23:23Speaker 1: It's gonna be pretty cool. So keep your eyes out
- 23:25Speaker 1: for that tomorrow night.
- 23:26Speaker 2: That'll be a released and then we'll have a rapid
- 23:28Speaker 2: analysis once we get the dates for you so we
- 23:30Speaker 2: can talk out the whole schedule, and then we'll talk
- 23:32Speaker 2: about it next week too. So have a good week
- 23:34Speaker 2: and enjoy the schedule. Release six
