- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:48Hi, it's Adam here and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:52session called The Hypnotic Circle of Social Confidence.
- 0:57Now this is going to be really useful for anyone that would
- 1:00like to feel more confident in social situations.
- 1:05Now, although confidence doesn't actually exclusively apply to
- 1:10social situations, many people link that to its meaning for
- 1:15them. So someone could be confident at
- 1:17speaking a language, or they could be confident at doing
- 1:21certain physical things like climbing or juggling.
- 1:26But when most people say they're either confident or not
- 1:29confident. What they really?
- 1:30Mean is that they're confident in social situations.
- 1:34So this is all about social confidence and it uses certain
- 1:38metaphors. It also uses an element of
- 1:40future pacing so that it can activate that part that knows
- 1:45what it would be like to have more confidence in what that
- 1:48would actually mean and the beliefs connected to that.
- 1:52And I'm speaking from the perspective not only as a
- 1:56therapist, but part of the reason why I'm a therapist is
- 1:59when I was 19 years old, I had such severe social anxiety that
- 2:03I became a recluse, completely avoiding people wherever I could
- 2:08and actually self hypnosis. Me being a hypnotist to myself
- 2:12actually enabled me to go from being very shy, very introverted
- 2:16and a very timid person terrified of social situations.
- 2:21Now I'm actually very confident in social situations and it all
- 2:24started with me doing self hypnosis on myself.
- 2:28So this particular session, even though it was created for
- 2:30someone else, might be useful for you.
- 2:32But if you do want to work on the area of social confidence
- 2:36and maybe you feel anxious in certain situations, there will
- 2:39be a link in the description where you can schedule a
- 2:42completely free consultation call to explore working with me.
- 2:45And there's also some free downloads in the description as
- 2:48well. So if you want different types
- 2:51of hypnotherapy rather than just the podcast or the YouTube, then
- 2:55definitely check out the description because there's lots
- 2:57of freebies there that might be useful for you.
- 3:01For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:04won't be. Disturbed, relax and.
- 3:06Enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:56you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 4:02relaxation. And as you exhale, feel a
- 4:09wonderful sense of release that any tension, any worries, any
- 4:18insecurities start to feel like they're leaving your body.
- 4:26Every time you exhale, breathing in that resourceful feeling of
- 4:32calm and relaxation and that's it.
- 4:38Releasing any feelings of tension, just allowing it breath
- 4:44by breath to feel like it's leaving your body
- 4:59and just scan your body for any clues of that stress or tension.
- 5:09And sometimes it's there in the neck and the shoulders and
- 5:13sometimes the jaw. And as you breathe in that
- 5:18resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation, just imagine that
- 5:23tension melting away. Feel it loosen and relax.
- 5:35And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 5:40And the more relaxed you become, the deeper you breathe.
- 5:53And I want you to scan your inner dialogue now for a voice,
- 6:02a voice that has this wonderful intention to protect you from
- 6:10judgement, from embarrassment, from awkwardness.
- 6:22And maybe you can hear that voice echoing words that have
- 6:27been said before. Don't be bad.
- 6:34Don't embarrass yourself. Don't be awkward.
- 6:39And I want you to thank that part because it cares deeply for
- 6:46you. It's holding you to high
- 6:51standards, protecting you from emotional pain.
- 6:58But what if this part was contributing to feelings of
- 7:10being self-conscious? That the very intention to
- 7:15protect creates the very state that is holding you back?
- 7:26Because there's been many times that you felt confident in flow,
- 7:31quick witted, and then that voice wasn't there.
- 7:40Everyone has someone in their life where their heart is in the
- 7:45right place, but when they try and help, they make things worse
- 7:53and I wonder if this part is willing to adapt to help you in
- 8:02the way you want to be helped. You can be grateful for the
- 8:10intention, even if the way that intention is executed is the
- 8:21very cause of the self consciousness that is time to be
- 8:26released. But for now, with each breath,
- 8:33feel yourself drifting deeper and more relaxed, as if your
- 8:40unconscious mind is beginning to awaken and evolve.
- 8:47What if today you're going to rediscover something powerful
- 8:52within you, an evolution to a part that already knows how to
- 9:02align with fun, playful confidence?
- 9:12I want you to think back to a memory.
- 9:19I want you to imagine seeing yourself at a time when you lose
- 9:23this social confidence. And maybe it's because you knew
- 9:29the people, or maybe it's because you were out with
- 9:33friends, but I want you to see a time where it was easy and fun
- 9:44for you to have such social confidence that you could
- 9:47approach someone you liked with ease.
- 9:52A looseness of flow. And when you can recall that
- 9:59memory, let me know by nodding your head.
- 10:09And I want you to imagine you're back there wherever you were,
- 10:13but you're seeing yourself. You're seeing yourself like a
- 10:17stranger, but you know that that version of you was confident and
- 10:24calm, relaxed. I want you to see that version
- 10:29of you. Introduce yourself to someone
- 10:33that you liked and notice the communication was effortless and
- 10:44easy. Everything just seemed to flow.
- 10:51But I want you to imagine that underneath the feet of that
- 10:55version of you, with all of those resources, is a glowing
- 11:02circle. And wherever you walk, the
- 11:09circle walks with you almost like a spotlight, but it's
- 11:14glowing from beneath. And I want you to imagine that
- 11:20this, this is a circle of powerful confidence.
- 11:31I want you to imagine stepping into that version of you,
- 11:35feeling how good it feels to playfully, confidently approach
- 11:44a woman you like. Say hello, flirt, or get to know
- 11:51them. Feel how easy it is.
- 11:57Notice the absence of any awkwardness, nervousness.
- 12:03Notice an absence of a inner dialogue.
- 12:07It's not there. That when you're in that state
- 12:11of confidently, charismatically communicating in that engaging
- 12:20way, it feels like fun. It feels.
- 12:29You don't have to think of what to say and what's going to
- 12:32happen. It's just intuitive.
- 12:38See that glowing circle beneath your feet?
- 12:42Notice how you breathe. Notice how relaxed your muscles
- 12:47are. I want you to get a feeling that
- 12:51this is what it feels like to be in a state of self-confidence.
- 13:06I want you to connect it to a new inner dialogue now, not the
- 13:14inner dialogue of don't be bad, don't be awkward.
- 13:20Maybe the voice is the same but the tonality is different.
- 13:26Imagine now hearing you've got this.
- 13:31This is fun. There isn't anything you have to
- 13:37do. There's just stuff you get to do
- 13:38because you want to do it. Feel that playfulness somewhere
- 13:44in your torso, perhaps your chest, with your gut feel that
- 13:50playful, fun feeling. I want you to imagine leaving
- 14:00that place, but keeping those feelings with you.
- 14:06And then I want you to imagine what it would be like to see a
- 14:12future version of you. A future version of you, but
- 14:18this time you're going out solo, just on your own to a busy bar.
- 14:30I want you to see that version of you getting ready to go out,
- 14:35seeing that glowing circle beneath your feet even before
- 14:38you've left your home. There's a smile, there's a
- 14:43playful energy and demeanour. You're intending to go out solo
- 14:49to interact, but there is a relaxed flow to your mannerisms.
- 15:00Maybe see yourself getting to that bar and you know you're in
- 15:05a playful state because of the music you're playing and your
- 15:09facial expressions. This is fun.
- 15:15Observe that version of you arriving at the bar and see that
- 15:22glowing circle still underneath your feet.
- 15:28But there is a confidence in how you walk, a playfulness in how
- 15:35you smile. Just imagine going into that bar
- 15:42in a very relaxed way, and for the first few minutes just see
- 15:48that that version of you is assessing the dynamics of the
- 15:53bar, figuring out what groups are together, who's in couples.
- 16:02That version of you is just figuring out the lay of the
- 16:05land. And then see that version of you
- 16:13still with that relaxed demeanour, confident look, the
- 16:18glowing circle beneath you. And then you see a woman that
- 16:27you like as part of a group, and in that group is other women and
- 16:35men. But you've assessed that the
- 16:39woman that you like isn't with anyone.
- 16:45And just imagine seeing that calm, confident, charismatic
- 16:52version of you with that glowing circle, making eye contact,
- 16:58smiling, waiting for some kind of a signal, even if it's just
- 17:09holding eye contact for a second or two or a subtle smile.
- 17:17And then see that version of you with the glowing circle beneath
- 17:21your feet, confidently approaching the group.
- 17:29See yourself introducing yourself.
- 17:36There is a calm, confident, playful demeanour.
- 17:44See how effortless you interact? The fact that there's other
- 17:51people there doesn't make any difference at all.
- 17:55That version of you is immune to judgement.
- 18:01That version of you is oozing confidence.
- 18:07And the fact that that version of you approach solo to a group
- 18:12positions you as even more confident, comfortable in your
- 18:18own skin, with high levels of self worth.
- 18:25The fact that it's challenging is exactly what means that it's
- 18:29powerful and you get to see what's happening here in every
- 18:39different scenario. You can see it going well.
- 18:45You can even see the group looking annoyed that you even
- 18:48approached. None of it matters.
- 18:53The important thing is that your demeanour is still confident and
- 18:58playful, and you leave at the time You decide to leave, still
- 19:09with that glowing circle beneath your feet, almost like there is
- 19:14a force field around you, making you immune to judgement or any
- 19:24evaluations that you don't like. But you can see that your
- 19:31sensory acuity is high, picking up on facial expressions and
- 19:37smiles, not to deter you, but to give you valuable information to
- 19:46be discerning with your time. See yourself as you look,
- 19:55composed and calm and fun and playful.
- 19:59And then see yourself leaving that group when you decide to.
- 20:12And if you feel that version of you.
- 20:17As the very quality is that you would find useful, let me know
- 20:23by nodding your head to just rewind everything.
- 20:37Now see that version of you getting ready to leave the
- 20:44glowing circle beneath your feet?
- 20:46But now step into that version of you.
- 20:50Feel that confident, playful energy.
- 20:55Imagine choosing the clothing, any accessories, the shoes that
- 21:04put you in that confident, playful state.
- 21:10Imagine thinking of a bar that you're going to go to and making
- 21:15arrangements, driving or catching an Uber to get to that
- 21:19bar. On the way there, you just feel
- 21:23like this is fun. Your inner dialogue is saying
- 21:29they're proud of you for even just doing this.
- 21:33You'll be fine, you'll be great, this is fun, you've got this.
- 21:40And when they say that, you believe them.
- 21:42And then imagine arriving, seeing those golden circle
- 21:49beneath your feet, walking into the bar, and now in a first
- 21:54person perspective, imagine just evaluating the bar, the
- 21:59dynamics, figuring out who's with who.
- 22:06And then imagine seeing someone you'd like to talk to, and maybe
- 22:13they're in a group. And just imagine smiling and
- 22:20making eye contact, waiting for that subtle invitation.
- 22:30And when you get the invitation, let me know by nodding your
- 22:32head. That's it.
- 22:47When you get that green light, just feel like it's effortless
- 22:53to say hello. And if they're in a group, who
- 22:59cares? People are just people.
- 23:04Whatever happens, happens. But I want you to feel that
- 23:08confidence, feel that playfulness, feel that wonderful
- 23:14sense of calm relaxation. Imagine introducing yourself,
- 23:22interacting, but still feeling that wonderful feeling of
- 23:27confidence where you make the evaluation that you don't need
- 23:32to be there with anyone else. You can be confident, bold,
- 23:41courageous, but most of all playful.
- 23:47All of this is just a shot to nothing.
- 23:50If it works out, then that's fine.
- 23:53If it doesn't, that's fine too. This is low stakes fun and the
- 24:02only judgement you're making is that you're proud of yourself
- 24:09for going about things in the state and a way that aligns with
- 24:16you being confident, playful, and charismatic.
- 24:27I imagine the night has gone well, and maybe there were many
- 24:31conversations, or just one or two, but imagine leaving that
- 24:38bar with a spring in your step, with a clear evaluation that
- 24:47you've broken an invisible barrier, that you've gone out
- 24:54and interacted completely solo and you enjoyed yourself.
- 24:58It was fun. No awkwardness, no nerves, just
- 25:04fun and confidence. And if you can do it here, then
- 25:11you can do it in any context, anywhere.
- 25:18So it's time to leave this place, but keep all those
- 25:22wonderful feelings with you and notice that in a dialogue that
- 25:26was once protective is now protecting you with
- 25:32encouragement, support, a sense of hyping you up, telling you
- 25:44you've got this time to return to the presence, to take a deep
- 25:52breath in through on O's and out through on O's.
- 25:58Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 26:01That's it. Connect and calibrate into the
- 26:03here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 26:10you. Starting to count. 123 waking up
- 26:15456 more alert. 7-8 open your eyes.
- 26:20Open your eyes, 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 26:26awake. Thank you for listening to The
