- 0:45Speaker 2: for joining us. We are the Out of Bounds Show.
- 0:47Speaker 2: We love you. I'm your host Bo Bounds, Jay Meadows
- 0:50Speaker 2: with me. This is one O five nine the Zone,
- 0:53Speaker 2: ESPN and we're brought to you by our friends as
- 0:56Speaker 2: Superior Foundation.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Uh.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Todd Sandridge, Todd Sandridge and Trey Pace started Superior Foundation
- 1:05Speaker 2: over fifteen years ago. They're local and it's the number
- 1:08Speaker 2: one foundation company in Mississippi, Local warranty number one.
- 1:13Speaker 3: UH.
- 1:13Speaker 2: They're general contractors too, Superior dot MS. If you've got
- 1:17Speaker 2: foundation issues or you need French strains, driveway work or
- 1:24Speaker 2: parking lots, Superior Superior dot MS. Superior Foundation called Todd Sandridge,
- 1:31Speaker 2: Trey Pace and the team Superior dot MS and their
- 1:35Speaker 2: work comes with a warranty. Foundation driveways, French trains, A
- 1:41Speaker 2: couple of different ways that you can get in touch
- 1:43Speaker 2: with Jackson and I. The Dancing Rabbit Golf text line
- 1:47Speaker 2: is six oh one eight eight five three seven seven
- 1:51Speaker 2: six And we have a listener here who I think
- 1:55Speaker 2: makes some great points. His name's waves. He said, Bo,
- 2:00Speaker 2: do you think LSU will be a playoff team in
- 2:03Speaker 2: year one? Take a minute and go back and look
- 2:06Speaker 2: at Lane's year one stops. I understand LSU has more
- 2:11Speaker 2: in the arsenal. It is going to take a few
- 2:14Speaker 2: games to get things rolling. Plus the QB will have
- 2:18Speaker 2: zero snaps to a fall camp. Only two to three
- 2:22Speaker 2: SEC teams went ten and two last year, and we
- 2:24Speaker 2: added additional SEC game. In my opinion, nine and three
- 2:28Speaker 2: is the new ten and two. I have LSU at
- 2:32Speaker 2: eight and four, so yeah, that would not surprise me
- 2:37Speaker 2: at all. If LSU went eight and four, I've got
- 2:41Speaker 2: eight and four, nine and three, ten and two, any
- 2:43Speaker 2: of that. You know, they get hot, they get rolling,
- 2:45Speaker 2: like you said things gel Look, Sam Levitt maybe out
- 2:48Speaker 2: for a lot, he's now he's close to rolling. He's
- 2:54Speaker 2: played a ton of football at Arizona State. So you know,
- 2:58Speaker 2: Mike Ntilier has been adam as has Lane. But Mike
- 3:02Speaker 2: Ntilier w WL Radio New Orleans has been adamant on
- 3:07Speaker 2: this show and other platforms that Levitt's going to be fine,
- 3:11Speaker 2: that he's healthy, and that he's rolling. Look, we watched
- 3:15Speaker 2: him play. I mean we watched him play in David
- 3:17Speaker 2: Swade last year and they had a crappy first half
- 3:23Speaker 2: and it happens they got off the plane whatever, and
- 3:28Speaker 2: they didn't look like they knew how to play football.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It was early in the years Skataboo had gone, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: probably trying to figure out who they were, Sam Levitt,
- 3:37Speaker 2: Jordan Tyson. They didn't play well, and Missisippi State took
- 3:40Speaker 2: advantage and got out to a huge lead, and then
- 3:42Speaker 2: Arizona State dominated in the second half, and then you know,
- 3:47Speaker 2: Missipi State was able to come back with the walk
- 3:50Speaker 2: off at the end. But Levitt's played a ton of ball.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Lane will make him better. And one thing that you
- 3:59Speaker 2: hit on, which is the most we need to put
- 4:01Speaker 2: more emphasis on this piece of the puzzle than anything
- 4:05Speaker 2: else that you mentioned, and it was a fantastic text.
- 4:09Speaker 2: But he's gonna have more dudes around him. He and Lane.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I mean, Lane's a top five offensive play caller and
- 4:19Speaker 2: he's gonna have LSU talent around him. If levit, as
- 4:23Speaker 2: logan Bill said thirty five minutes ago, if Levitt stays healthy,
- 4:29Speaker 2: he's gonna be just fine. I mean, he doesn't have
- 4:33Speaker 2: to be great. Sam Levitt can be good at LSU,
- 4:36Speaker 2: and they can punch their ticket to the College Football
- 4:38Speaker 2: Playoff because of who they are. At other schools, you
- 4:42Speaker 2: have to have these wow great which there's nothing wrong with.
- 4:46Speaker 2: At other schools. You have to have wow great performances
- 4:49Speaker 2: at quarterback to get to the College Football Playoff. I
- 4:53Speaker 2: think I think Tom Lougan bild now did on Alabama
- 4:55Speaker 2: with Keeland Russell and Austin Mack. I mean, he's like, look,
- 5:03Speaker 2: I think that if they're just pretty pretty good, pretty
- 5:08Speaker 2: damn good, Bama will be fine. Ryan Fowler said the
- 5:14Speaker 2: same thing. Bama's defense for the first time in a while,
- 5:18Speaker 2: has a chance. I mean, they they went all in,
- 5:21Speaker 2: they retained their players, They have recruited well. What they
- 5:24Speaker 2: had the number two class last year, right behind Southern
- 5:27Speaker 2: cal and Lincoln Raleigh, and they didn't sign as many
- 5:29Speaker 2: as Lincoln. Now, I know everybody's having fun with them
- 5:32Speaker 2: being whatever. They are forty fifth in the country, but
- 5:36Speaker 2: and I'm you know, I don't know exactly what their
- 5:38Speaker 2: roster dynamics are. Obviously they have retained a bunch of
- 5:42Speaker 2: players and so on, but they have recruited well the
- 5:45Speaker 2: last couple of years, and they think They're going to
- 5:47Speaker 2: be damn good on defense. So when I think about
- 5:49Speaker 2: Sam Levitt and LSU, I don't think Lane will put
- 5:54Speaker 2: too much on him. But the flip side is Levitt's
- 5:58Speaker 2: played a lot and it's not like you can't put
- 6:02Speaker 2: a lot on him. But they've got running backs, they
- 6:09Speaker 2: got dudes on the outside, and they got a hell
- 6:14Speaker 2: of a defensive coordinator. So I think they'll take care
- 6:17Speaker 2: of Clemson. I don't know about ole Miss. Now, you
- 6:20Speaker 2: know in Oxford with that roster, that's gonna be a
- 6:23Speaker 2: tough lift. To me, that's a push. Game could go
- 6:27Speaker 2: either way, whether it's Trinidad or Levitt making a play
- 6:31Speaker 2: or one of the defensive guys you know, strip sack,
- 6:34Speaker 2: fumble or a pick. Who knows, But I can't wait
- 6:40Speaker 2: and guess what we could talk about it for which
- 6:43Speaker 2: I actually like, we had to talk about it for
- 6:46Speaker 2: the next seven weeks leading up to the games, and
- 6:50Speaker 2: to me, ole Miss and Louisville, even though ole Miss
- 6:53Speaker 2: has got more talent, is super intriguing. And then because
- 7:00Speaker 2: it'll be the first time Pete doesn't have Charlie Weiss
- 7:03Speaker 2: and Lane drove that whole thing. Now Pete walks into
- 7:06Speaker 2: a great situation because of what Lane built and Pete
- 7:09Speaker 2: did help that Lane was there the whole time. And
- 7:13Speaker 2: Brohm as a veteran coach, he does not have the
- 7:15Speaker 2: same roster, but they've got some good players. But boy,
- 7:19Speaker 2: being inexperienced at quarterback, damn Nations, which then takes me
- 7:25Speaker 2: to Mississippi State at Minnesota. Here's my question, Camaro, Taylor
- 7:32Speaker 2: will get up an exhibition game if you will, just
- 7:35Speaker 2: to start the year, okay, And so you know the
- 7:40Speaker 2: game should be over at the end of the first quarter,
- 7:42Speaker 2: right or I mean even under Levy, they've they've been
- 7:44Speaker 2: able to do that against you know, teams that aren't good. Okay,
- 7:48Speaker 2: So whatever that is. Midway through the second you know,
- 7:52Speaker 2: Da da da and Camario should be able to run
- 7:56Speaker 2: around and what you I mean, Levy and Camrio can
- 8:00Speaker 2: do what they want. But I'm telling Camrio you do
- 8:02Speaker 2: not need to take anybody on in this game, okay.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I mean, we're not trying to prove anything whatsoever when
- 8:10Speaker 2: we play Lob and Row other than when by a
- 8:14Speaker 2: few touchdowns and everybody be happy. But at Minnesota on
- 8:17Speaker 2: the road, not that it's an sec ybe by any
- 8:23Speaker 2: Stritch's not like going to Oxford, but going to Minnesota,
- 8:28Speaker 2: I think they're gonna get pretty rebbed up just because
- 8:31Speaker 2: a sec. I know Mississippi State hasn't been winning, but
- 8:34Speaker 2: they they went through a hell of a run for
- 8:36Speaker 2: over a decade of winning, and I think they're gonna
- 8:39Speaker 2: get pretty juiced up for that game. Oh yeah, so
- 8:42Speaker 2: Camarrio hasn't played in front of any kind of look.
- 8:46Speaker 2: When they went to Arkansas, there weren't a lot of
- 8:49Speaker 2: people there. Now, I'm not taking away from Camrio's two
- 8:52Speaker 2: drives on the road as a young true freshman against Arkansas.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Great job, you know, he played Old miss at home
- 8:59Speaker 2: and played pretty well, and then the bowl game was
- 9:02Speaker 2: just a disaster. I don't blame Camrio. I totally blame
- 9:05Speaker 2: the coaching staff. They weren't prepared, they weren't focused, and
- 9:07Speaker 2: they didn't execute, and it was a waste of everybody's
- 9:10Speaker 2: time and money and everything else and unacceptable from the
- 9:14Speaker 2: top down in the athletic department. And no wonder they're
- 9:19Speaker 2: hiding all summer. But the can he go on the
- 9:23Speaker 2: road And if it is a let's just say they.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I don't know what Minnesota does Forty thousand people getting
- 9:28Speaker 2: fired up. You know, can he have as a true
- 9:33Speaker 2: sophomore with not that much PT under his belt other
- 9:36Speaker 2: than he's about to get another game against Linman Roe
- 9:39Speaker 2: at home, which you want to get and you want
- 9:41Speaker 2: to get the live reps. Can Camrio handle that situation
- 9:46Speaker 2: up back to back road games? Is my question to
- 9:49Speaker 2: y'all at Minnesota at South Carolina. All right, we'll be
- 9:54Speaker 2: back in a second. The number one foundation company in
- 9:56Speaker 2: Mississippi is Superior Foundation, called Todd Sandridge today. Well, hey,
- 10:30Speaker 2: thanks for hanging out and joining us. Out of bounds
- 10:33Speaker 2: one oh five nine the Zone ESPN. When Jackson Meadows
- 10:36Speaker 2: tells me it's time, it's when I lock in, right,
- 10:41Speaker 2: just like Tom Brady locked in. I've had my avocado
- 10:45Speaker 2: milkshake or whatever the hell I'm kidding, avocado milkshake. I
- 10:52Speaker 2: love that phenomenal. We are the out of bounds show boom.
- 10:57Speaker 2: We talked about Superior Foundation, number one foundation company in Mississippi.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Superior say it with me, Superior dot ms call them

- 11:22Speaker 2: Meadows with us and uh what I want to I

- 11:36Speaker 2: And I want to talk about your company, your business
- 11:39Speaker 2: ordering lunch today from B three Smash Burgers, blue Plates,
- 11:45Speaker 2: pulled port nachos, B three Burgers, Blues Barbecue, Dogwood, Blowwood.
- 11:50Speaker 2: They now have a new green space. They already had
- 11:52Speaker 2: the outdoor area covered, temperature controlled all that Jackson. Other
- 11:59Speaker 2: than high Way sixty one Bacon and blue, what's your
- 12:02Speaker 2: other go to? It be? We're actually gonna challenge you.
- 12:05Speaker 2: What's your other go to? At B three in Dogwood Flowood?
- 12:09Speaker 5: Bacon jam Burger?
- 12:11Speaker 2: All right, I love it. There we go Bacon say
- 12:14Speaker 2: it with me, listeners, Bacon jam Burger, smash and that
- 12:20Speaker 2: straight funks go to as far as that's birds one
- 12:25Speaker 2: as that's Burgers, right Highway sixty one. Bacon and blue
- 12:30Speaker 2: are the bacon jam Burger? Did I say that? Right? Okay?
- 12:35Speaker 4: All right, that's burger wise. You know you gotta quite
- 12:38Speaker 4: a variety of things they eat.
- 12:40Speaker 2: There, well, they have, they have items on the menu
- 12:45Speaker 2: that I think surprise people. Oh yeah, and then you
- 12:48Speaker 2: order them and their damn good. So we've had their
- 12:52Speaker 2: food truck out to cater for forty or fifty of us.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Unbelievad They do custom menus, custom some menus at B three, Burger's,
- 13:02Speaker 2: Blues Barbecue, Dogwood Flowood, All right, Jackson's Live in the
- 13:07Speaker 2: Bank plus Studio. You know I'm your host, Bo Bounds. Oh,
- 13:11Speaker 2: Travis Kelcey, All right. So I don't really care about
- 13:14Speaker 2: Travis Kelcey or Taylor Swift and all that nonsense. But
- 13:17Speaker 2: if somebody says something funny, I am in, and of
- 13:20Speaker 2: course I'll watch. I recognize his brilliance on the football field,
- 13:25Speaker 2: because the guy's ridiculous. Come on, the things that he
- 13:30Speaker 2: has been able to do in Andy Reid's offense with
- 13:33Speaker 2: Patrick mahomes Hey all good. And I don't I'm not
- 13:37Speaker 2: anti Chiefs by any stretch. I mean, I'm not a
- 13:42Speaker 2: Chiefs fan. I do like to see Chris Jones win
- 13:44Speaker 2: Super Bowls. That's cool. And I recognize that Beachs their
- 13:50Speaker 2: general manager read Hall of Fame head coach mahomes Kelsey,
- 13:55Speaker 2: all these guys are damn good. Well, Kelsey tells a
- 13:59Speaker 2: story about when he thought he met Warren Buffett, and
- 14:04Speaker 2: it's fantastic. Here it is.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I go to New York and there's a there's a
- 14:08Speaker 1: huge festival, music festival out in the Hampton's and I'm
- 14:12Speaker 1: a huge music lover, as you guys know. I go
- 14:18Speaker 1: with a bunch of guys from New York in the
- 14:20Speaker 1: in the money world. So it's like a connection and
- 14:22Speaker 1: like finances, and I'm thinking that I'm going to be
- 14:24Speaker 1: around a bunch of guys and finances at this music festival.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So I get up there and I immediately start having beverages.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Is kind of the thing, the Kelsey way of going
- 14:33Speaker 1: about things. And don't even really know who's on who's
- 14:37Speaker 1: performing at the concert. I'm just kind of up there, like, hey,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you got anymore tequila? And uh? And a guy comes
- 14:47Speaker 1: up and and and says, dude, Buffets here, he wants
- 14:53Speaker 1: to meet you. I'm like, I am way too hammered
- 14:55Speaker 1: to say hello to this guy. I start talking finances. U,
- 15:00Speaker 1: I got it, go ahead, get it together.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Get a water. Where's the water?
- 15:04Speaker 4: Where's the water?
- 15:04Speaker 3: So I get the water.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I go over to meet Buffett.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I would shake his hand and man, we have the
- 15:09Speaker 1: best conversation I've ever had in my life. The man
- 15:12Speaker 1: is literally smiling from ear to ear. I'm thinking, I'm
- 15:15Speaker 1: gonna be rich here soon. He's gonna invite me in
- 15:17Speaker 1: all of his investments. And he starts telling the story
- 15:22Speaker 1: in high school when he picked up the guitar for
- 15:25Speaker 1: the first time, and I was like, right to his face,
- 15:30Speaker 1: no way. Warren Buffett played the guitar and his face
- 15:39Speaker 1: went from smiling ear to ear to not smiling at all,
- 15:45Speaker 1: and then got tapped on the shoulder because he had
- 15:47Speaker 1: to go sing Margaritaville. So I was his biggest cheerleader,
- 15:54Speaker 1: singing Margaritaville on the side. So I have an episode
- 15:57Speaker 1: of face blindness at least once a month. And that
- 15:59Speaker 1: was that was me mistaking Jimmy Buffett, the late, great,
- 16:04Speaker 1: unbelievable Jimmy Buffett, for thinking Warren Buffett was going to
- 16:08Speaker 1: be at a music festival in the Hamptons.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Okay, y'all, that is gold, all right. Travis Kelcey's hammered
- 16:20Speaker 2: on tequila. Hopefully it was es Blonne, all right. So
- 16:25Speaker 2: he's in the Hamptons, he's having a great time and
- 16:28Speaker 2: he's just being Travis Kelcey, super Bowl winner. Hey, let's
- 16:33Speaker 2: go talk to Warren Buffett and he's talking to him
- 16:40Speaker 2: and he's talking to Jimmy Buffett. This is unbelievable. So
- 16:47Speaker 2: as smart. Look, Travis Kelcey is smart. It's like hopefully
- 16:53Speaker 2: all of us. He's smart in many ways, and just
- 16:55Speaker 2: like all of us were totally clueless and dumb many ways. Okay,
- 17:00Speaker 2: all of us. And and but are you serious. You're
- 17:06Speaker 2: hanging out at a at a deal in this and
- 17:07Speaker 2: you're thinking you're talking to Warren Buffett and then he
- 17:09Speaker 2: says starts talking about playing a guitar, and you're what, dude,
- 17:15Speaker 2: thought you're gonna tell me the next blue chip or
- 17:17Speaker 2: text stock to buy or get me in some private
- 17:20Speaker 2: or you were just gonna say, hey, we want you
- 17:23Speaker 2: all in with Burt Bert Shower Hathaway, right right, just
- 17:27Speaker 2: come on in. We're gonna show you exactly what we
- 17:30Speaker 2: do and where to put your money, and you'll make
- 17:33Speaker 2: twenty eight percent a year. Yeah, here's the right boom.
- 17:37Speaker 2: And sometimes you'll make thirty seven percent because we've all
- 17:39Speaker 2: got those buddies that will tell you when you're having
- 17:42Speaker 2: steaks that they're they're making thirty four percent on their money, right,
- 17:46Speaker 2: sure of course? Okay? Is that is that fantastic or what?
- 17:50Speaker 5: It's pretty dang good. I mean, props to his friend
- 17:54Speaker 5: for the setup. Oh, thank god for the friend, because
- 18:02Speaker 5: that was what it was.
- 18:03Speaker 2: I'm going to talk to Buffett.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I'm just talking. I'm gonna say Buffett
- 18:07Speaker 5: wants to meet you.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Don't give him the first name.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I know, love it.
- 18:11Speaker 5: That's a great setup.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And look, you know I got all into the parent
- 18:16Speaker 2: heead thing and that as a kid fifteen sixteen years old.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Buffett is still amazing to be to this day. He's
- 18:25Speaker 2: one of the greatest songwriters of as much as Warren Buffett,
- 18:30Speaker 2: maybe the greatest investor of all time, and definitely ability
- 18:34Speaker 2: to talk about roster building within his company, assets and companies.
- 18:40Speaker 2: But you could make a strong argument that Jimmy Buffett,
- 18:49Speaker 2: I mean, he's he could be top five songwriter from America.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You think about that so.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Many songs and most people have no idea.
- 18:55Speaker 2: You know. And you could think of some of the
- 18:58Speaker 2: blues guys from the Mississippi Delta to and Dylan and
- 19:01Speaker 2: throw in you know, Simon and so on and you got,
- 19:06Speaker 2: you got your You know, we always talk about top
- 19:08Speaker 2: five players in the NBA, right, top five songwriters. Jimmy Buffett.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Don't you think I mean, like I said, he is
- 19:17Speaker 2: up there, up there. Yeah, yeah, no question. That's great.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Travis Kelsey thinks he's talking to Warren Buffett and it's
- 19:26Speaker 2: Jimmy Buffett. Good how much tequila had he had? Oh
- 19:36Speaker 2: my goodness, gracious. The Out of Bounds Show is brought

- 21:53Speaker 2: you saying four years ago about Vanderbilt? You just said,
- 21:56Speaker 2: what if you and I were having a steak dinner tonight,
- 22:00Speaker 2: a sizzling inch and a half cut, two inch cut
- 22:06Speaker 2: Delmonico Rabbi and an Elijah Craig old fashioned, we were
- 22:17Speaker 2: doing this five years ago, you would have told me,
- 22:22Speaker 2: no way, Vanderbilt goes ten and two. Ever again, you
- 22:29Speaker 2: know what else you would have told me had we
- 22:31Speaker 2: were having dinner either on your back patio or mine,
- 22:36Speaker 2: or at a fabulous steakhouse five years ago. I want
- 22:43Speaker 2: you to think back. Okay, the steaks have just come
- 22:48Speaker 2: off the grill and we've got everything that we need.
- 22:54Speaker 2: As far as the sides, we did some shrimp everything.
- 23:00Speaker 2: What else would you have said, Indiana Hoosiers will never
- 23:05Speaker 2: win a national championship in football. So if you don't
- 23:10Speaker 2: think that any SEC team can win in any of
- 23:14Speaker 2: the big three sports, I love you, but you're wrong
- 23:20Speaker 2: because five years ago, at a steak dinner at Coast
- 23:25Speaker 2: Chop House, even though it wasn't there in Harrah's, we
- 23:30Speaker 2: would have both said, well, Vanderbilt will never go ten
- 23:32Speaker 2: and two in football and dominate Alabama. Yeah, they put there,
- 23:40Speaker 2: They put their elbow in Bama's jugular and just slowly
- 23:47Speaker 2: went for the trachea M. Did you ever think that
- 23:52Speaker 2: Vanderbilt would make Bama bleed out on a football field?
- 23:57Speaker 1: That?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Okay, thank you exactly. So five years ago, Jackson Meadows
- 24:03Speaker 2: and I and you are at a steak dinner, perfect
- 24:06Speaker 2: steak sides. Whatever your beverage of choices, whether it's lemonade
- 24:12Speaker 2: or a Tito's Espresso martini, we all say the same thing.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Because guys can't agree on anything when it comes to sports,
- 24:19Speaker 2: we refuse to agree with it on anything. Right, Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'm smarter than them right this afternoon, when we're throwing
- 24:27Speaker 2: burgers on the grill with our buddies in our neighborhood,
- 24:31Speaker 2: no one's going to be on the same page. Not
- 24:33Speaker 2: that we're not going to have fun debating it and
- 24:35Speaker 2: the banter. Five years ago we all say Bannerbilt's never
- 24:41Speaker 2: going ten and two in the Southeastern Conference and the
- 24:44Speaker 2: Indiana Hoosiers will never win a national championship. Definitive statements.
- 24:51Speaker 2: We would have all raised our glasses and toast and said,
- 24:54Speaker 2: you damn right, we got that one right. Yeah, we
- 24:59Speaker 2: are the out of on show. We're brought to you
- 25:01Speaker 2: by Juniper Juniper Juniker Jewelry Store, engagement rings, necklaces, bracelet's earrings.
- 25:09Speaker 2: If you want to be a five star rock star
- 25:12Speaker 2: Junifer Jewelry Store, Highland Colony in Madison. So back to
- 25:17Speaker 2: everything that's going to be on Spotify today. At seven
- 25:19Speaker 2: point thirty this morning, I did twenty four minutes on
- 25:22Speaker 2: basically Portal Nil Tying End Caliperi. And while Arkansas had
- 25:27Speaker 2: totally whiffed for four years they couldn't get anything going,
- 25:32Speaker 2: they got more money than God. What are we talking about?
- 25:37Speaker 2: Tyson Walmart, JB. Hunt Stevens, and I'm missing like three
- 25:41Speaker 2: more companies. It's weird. I know, it's a rural state.
- 25:46Speaker 2: They got billionaires everywhere and one hundred millionaires coming off
- 25:49Speaker 2: those trees everywhere. They put one hundred million dollars in
- 25:53Speaker 2: their football roster right now, not think twice about it.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Shoe box money couldn't get it going. John Calipari's hired,
- 26:04Speaker 2: and in thirty seconds, he's got millions.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Of dollars, like literal seconds.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And one thing else has. John Calipari is willing to
- 26:15Speaker 2: dial for dollars he doesn't. After multiple final fours and
- 26:19Speaker 2: a national championship and sending like one hundred and eleven
- 26:23Speaker 2: Kentucky players to the NBA, John Calipari will call it
- 26:29Speaker 2: if somebody walks in his beautiful Fayette Bill, Arkansas office
- 26:34Speaker 2: this morning as he's looking at the mountains and the
- 26:36Speaker 2: sun shining and his guys are going to get a
- 26:41Speaker 2: workout in down below on the court, and somebody calls
- 26:46Speaker 2: him one of the other billionaires, one hundred millionaires, John
- 26:52Speaker 2: John oh Man, Sarah and I just got back from
- 26:56Speaker 2: vacation and Aspen. Oh that's great. Yeah, well, well so
- 27:01Speaker 2: I met this guy Van Arkansas Razorback. He just exited
- 27:10Speaker 2: a healthcare company. He made hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Give me his number. John's on the phone with him.
- 27:18Speaker 2: He didn't even say bye to the to John Tyson.
- 27:22Speaker 2: He hangs up. He's like, John, I'll call you later.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I'll see at the country club. We can eat those
- 27:27Speaker 2: thirty three dollars club sandwiches. Right. He gets on the
- 27:31Speaker 2: phone with Van, who just got out of making seven
- 27:37Speaker 2: hundred million dollars and a healthcare lick. He's like, I
- 27:41Speaker 2: need you on the team. I need you to be
- 27:43Speaker 2: involved with Arkansas Razorback football. I'll be there this afternoon.
- 27:48Speaker 2: That's that's the deal. Now we've come. We came up
- 27:55Speaker 2: with these sayings starting four and five years ago. Well
- 27:57Speaker 2: you can't, you can't do this, and you can't do
- 27:59Speaker 2: this because some people got in early in some nonsense.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Anybody can win if you have leadership and you have
- 28:08Speaker 2: talented people in place. What happened with the New York Knicks. Oh,
- 28:12Speaker 2: they'll never win. They haven't won since nineteen seventy three.
- 28:18Speaker 2: And then what did Leon Rose say, hold my Tito's martini?
- 28:26Speaker 2: And what did world Wide West say? Who's part of
- 28:30Speaker 2: that team. Hold my Tito's martini? And what did this
- 28:34Speaker 2: boy wonder? Say brock Allar, who is the numbers nerd
- 28:45Speaker 2: in professional sports? Now he is the number one guy.
- 28:52Speaker 2: He is the Steve Jobs. If you look at what
- 28:57Speaker 2: he did with the Cleveland Cavaliers and now what he's
- 28:59Speaker 2: done with the New York Knicks. They they assembled a
- 29:03Speaker 2: team and then they kicked everybody's ass. So I'm just
- 29:11Speaker 2: I think that's something that everybody can get. It's simple.
- 29:16Speaker 2: John Calip Arkansas wasn't going anywhere. Calip Perry was hired boom.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it's literally, I mean it transcends. Obviously basketball was
- 29:32Speaker 5: basketball football, but like you mentioned earlier, politics, he could
- 29:34Speaker 5: literally do that.
- 29:36Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. John understands the ability to be a
- 29:40Speaker 2: magnet bring people together, make them believe together, and that
- 29:46Speaker 2: what we all want to we all, I mean, I
- 29:47Speaker 2: would think that all of us want to be a
- 29:49Speaker 2: part of something bigger than we are every day. Is
- 29:52Speaker 2: that the magic of this weird life of being a human?
- 29:56Speaker 2: I mean, I think the what, like the number one
- 29:59Speaker 2: thing in life is I want to be a part
- 30:02Speaker 2: of something that's bigger than me. I mean, isn't that one?
- 30:06Speaker 2: If not the coolest thing in life. I want to
- 30:08Speaker 2: be a part of my neighborhood and I want to
- 30:11Speaker 2: make sure that my yard looks good, and I hold
- 30:13Speaker 2: myself accountable because I don't want to be the one
- 30:16Speaker 2: that's lagging behind. I want to be a part of
- 30:18Speaker 2: my community. I want to be a part of the
- 30:20Speaker 2: business or whatever sector, industry, profession I'm in, and I
- 30:26Speaker 2: want to be a part of something bigger than me.
- 30:30Speaker 2: And Cal has a gift to you know, he was
- 30:38Speaker 2: doing roster building before building his roster. Yeah, he did
- 30:43Speaker 2: the roster building of what donors who want to invest
- 30:48Speaker 2: in the Arkansas razorback basketball program. And Cal had, like
- 30:53Speaker 2: many people, Cal has the ability to say, why don't
- 30:56Speaker 2: you come in, Let's be a part of something that's
- 30:58Speaker 2: bigger than all of us. I don't know if there's something.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Is that what we all want to do every single day? Oh,
- 31:08Speaker 2: I'm a part of this my community, my neighborhood, then
- 31:11Speaker 2: my community, then my state, my business. I think that's
- 31:15Speaker 2: like gold, that is the elixir. And Cal people are like,
- 31:23Speaker 2: Arkansas can't win. I thought that was the dumbest thing
- 31:25Speaker 2: I've ever heard in my life. There were other fan
- 31:28Speaker 2: bases in the conference that were like, well, Arkansas can't win.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I'm sitting there going what, No, Arkansas didn't have the willpower.
- 31:37Speaker 2: This is it's all willpower. It's not money. In the
- 31:41Speaker 2: sec it say it with me, it's not money. Anybody
- 31:47Speaker 2: can win. Any of the sixteen schools can win in
- 31:51Speaker 2: any sport. And Cal just he flipped it in. You
- 32:00Speaker 2: know what, his plane, so the Arkansas or the Tyson
- 32:04Speaker 2: plane whatever, whether it's the Razorbacks or John Tyson's plane
- 32:07Speaker 2: that went to retrieve Cal from Lexington to fly him
- 32:12Speaker 2: to Fayeable. By the time he landed back in Fayable,
- 32:18Speaker 2: half the work was already done by Cal. He was
- 32:21Speaker 2: already working the phone. He had already been talking to
- 32:25Speaker 2: John Tyson about ten people that he needed to call.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Cal also understands that if John Tyson calls people and
- 32:31Speaker 2: says I'm in, then that person is more inclined to give.
- 32:35Speaker 2: It's the same thing in charity. It's not the person
- 32:39Speaker 2: with it's not the VP of fundraising in the charity.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I mean, you do need to be talented, you do
- 32:44Speaker 2: need to cultivate, and you do need to be a
- 32:46Speaker 2: part of the process and at the table. But it's
- 32:50Speaker 2: the ability to have one of your major donors go
- 32:52Speaker 2: to someone else with means and go I'm in and
- 32:55Speaker 2: I'm invested in. Here's why, and I want you to
- 32:58Speaker 2: join the party bus or get on the plane and
- 33:01Speaker 2: let's do this thing. That's what Lane did at Ole,
- 33:05Speaker 2: Miss Mario Cristobal did at Miami. That's what Texas Tech did,
- 33:09Speaker 2: and that's what many other SMU.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Would.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Would Tommy Tumberville have been like that today?
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yes, okay, so there.
- 33:18Speaker 5: Is there are the similarities between him and cow Uh.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yes, Oh, Tommy is a is a phenomenal salesman, like
- 33:26Speaker 2: cal like Steve Jobs, like so many others. Warren Buffett,
- 33:31Speaker 2: I mean, you're you do understand that Warren Buffett when
- 33:33Speaker 2: he when he understood what media could do for his
- 33:36Speaker 2: company and he did media hits, he fully was aware
- 33:39Speaker 2: of what that was doing for Berkshire, right.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 33:43Speaker 2: It's like we talk about Steve Jobs walking up on stage.
- 33:46Speaker 2: He was already being an heir. He didn't have to
- 33:48Speaker 2: do it. You see this little thing, this is this
- 33:53Speaker 2: is an iPod And then what did he do? Oh
- 33:57Speaker 2: he just showed it to us. No, he didn't. What
- 33:59Speaker 2: did Steve Jobs did that made him in my opinion,
- 34:03Speaker 2: the most successful businessman in America in American history. Yes,
- 34:08Speaker 2: even he's not gonna be worth what Elon was and
- 34:11Speaker 2: so on. But what did he do while he was
- 34:13Speaker 2: on stage? While he's got the little iPod in his hand?
- 34:18Speaker 2: I mean, he looked cool, The lighting was cool. It
- 34:21Speaker 2: looks very techy for back then in Barrie, Silicon Valley.
- 34:26Speaker 2: But what did Jobs do? He wasn't showing you the device.
- 34:31Speaker 2: What was he doing? He was telling you a story.
- 34:36Speaker 2: As Jobs said, nothing beats the power of storytelling. And
- 34:40Speaker 2: that's what Caliperi understands. Cal knows how to tell you,
- 34:45Speaker 2: not tell you, share his story so that you'll want
- 34:48Speaker 2: to get on the bus or the plane. And that,
- 34:52Speaker 2: to me is what we all want to do, be
- 34:55Speaker 2: a part of something bigger than who I am or
- 34:58Speaker 2: you are whoever, because to me, that is the magic,
- 35:01Speaker 2: sizzle and elixir in life. And Jobs was bringing you
- 35:07Speaker 2: in his world of ooh, apple tech, ooh. I may
- 35:12Speaker 2: not be in San Francisco or Silicon Valley, but I'm
- 35:16Speaker 2: cool with this device. And so Jobs told you a
- 35:21Speaker 2: story on stage along with telling his vendors the story
- 35:25Speaker 2: or sharing his story. And that's why Caliperi is the
- 35:28Speaker 2: greatest example of being a magnet and the ability to
- 35:35Speaker 2: build electricity and connect in literally seconds and minutes of
- 35:42Speaker 2: taking a job and flipping the program financially to where
- 35:49Speaker 2: they couldn't really figure out how to get money to
- 35:51Speaker 2: where it's raining money inside the Arkansas basketball program. This morning,
- 35:57Speaker 2: Cal walked in and it's raining money on him. That's
- 36:02Speaker 2: that's pretty cool.
- 36:03Speaker 5: Yeah, because it was not raining prior to that.
- 36:08Speaker 2: No, it should have been sure, but for whatever reason,
- 36:12Speaker 2: I don't know why they got tripped up. They couldn't get,
- 36:15Speaker 2: you know, out of their own way. And that's the deal. Like,
- 36:20Speaker 2: if your athletic department's not out this summer sharing their story,
- 36:26Speaker 2: that's unacceptable. I don't care if you're winning or losing.
- 36:32Speaker 2: You have to share your story every single day and
- 36:36Speaker 2: month to be six whatever entity, private, public, you have
- 36:41Speaker 2: to be sharing your story. You know, it was funny.
- 36:47Speaker 2: I was talking to someone that's tied into Madison Rigeland
- 36:51Speaker 2: Academy that's been a great partner of ours, both on
- 36:53Speaker 2: the academic side and the athletics side. And as you know,
- 36:56Speaker 2: MRA owns Friday Night Lights on the number one sports
- 37:00Speaker 2: talk radio station in the state of Mississippi one O
- 37:02Speaker 2: five nine, the own ESPN not a bad place to
- 37:04Speaker 2: have your your games every Friday night, fifty thousand White FM.
- 37:09Speaker 2: You know, got a cool factor without a doubt, and
- 37:13Speaker 2: this person just is not as tight end. And he
- 37:15Speaker 2: was like, well, tell me about it. I said, they
- 37:17Speaker 2: get to tell their story every Friday night for three
- 37:21Speaker 2: and a half hours. He went, ah, yeah that Yeah,
- 37:28Speaker 2: it's a football game and that's great. But they're they're
- 37:32Speaker 2: telling the MRA story academically and athletically every Friday night
- 37:37Speaker 2: throughout the season of the whole reason why when I
- 37:40Speaker 2: pitched them to come on, this gives you forty five
- 37:45Speaker 2: hours a year to tell your story academically and athletically.
- 37:51Speaker 2: That's the sizzle and then able to parlay that into
- 37:56Speaker 2: a ninety seven percent retention rate. Now we got something
- 37:59Speaker 2: going anyway. We're gonna drop some Spurrier kind of montage
- 38:09Speaker 2: audio here in a second. But the Cali Perry thing,
- 38:12Speaker 2: all of this is on Spotify. Tom Lougan Bill did
- 38:15Speaker 2: a deep dive into Ole, miss and Louisville and did
- 38:17Speaker 2: a great job. He's he knows all about the acc
- 38:21Speaker 2: because he was all over the a sec network last
- 38:23Speaker 2: year and nobody knew more about Miami. He talked about
- 38:27Speaker 2: it before last year. He was on it and you know, hey,
- 38:33Speaker 2: kudos to Christo Baul for getting to the National Championship Game.
- 38:37Speaker 2: But he did a deep dive into Louisville and ol
- 38:39Speaker 2: Miss that's on Spotify search out of Bounds with bo Bounds.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Jackson's gonna cut out the seven thirty Insider hit where
- 38:46Speaker 2: I We're just gonna talk Cali Perry and why and
- 38:50Speaker 2: what you know? The nil story. Anyway, Steve Spurrier was
- 38:56Speaker 2: Was he as big or a bigger trash talker than
- 38:59Speaker 2: Lane Kiffen in the nineteen nineties. This is a montage
- 39:04Speaker 2: of several people talking about Spurrier, including his former players,
- 39:08Speaker 2: Chris Storing, Danny Warfel. There's Pat Dooley, the journalist, there's
- 39:14Speaker 2: his wife, and then there's some Tennessee players in it
- 39:16Speaker 2: that you could tell did not like hearing every year
- 39:20Speaker 2: that you can't spell Let's see citrus without ut, All right,
- 39:26Speaker 2: this is all about Spurrier talking trash in the nineties.
- 39:30Speaker 2: We took on kind of.
- 39:32Speaker 4: His nature, that swagger, that cockiness that he had that
- 39:36Speaker 4: we loved every second of it. People. They called him
- 39:40Speaker 4: Ergan Kaki. It's this coach man. It's a confidence, it's
- 39:44Speaker 4: a swagger. Before anybody was really using the word swagger.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Now it's overused a little bit, but he was hashtag swagger.
- 39:53Speaker 4: They're playing Oklahoma State. Well they killed and after the game,
- 39:58Speaker 4: Spurrier goes, we knew they weren't very good. I'm like,
- 40:00Speaker 4: whoa honesty from a coach?
- 40:03Speaker 5: At times you say stuff and it speaks of vanity,
- 40:07Speaker 5: and it speaks of a lack of.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Humility, ego, paranoid, cocky, arrogant.
- 40:13Speaker 6: Sometimes I dig at guys a little bit.
- 40:16Speaker 2: FSU Freeshoes University. That's a low blow. What's wrong with that? Dvy?
- 40:22Speaker 6: This day, I've been accused of saying things right after
- 40:27Speaker 6: games that some people felt like was a knock to
- 40:31Speaker 6: our opponents, and they were interpreted the wrong way.
- 40:35Speaker 4: Never disappointed us. Freak capture, isn't it?
- 40:38Speaker 6: Actually? Anybody can formed their own opinion about everything.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Everybody's got their own opinion.
- 40:43Speaker 4: I'm not asking everybody to take our side. They can
- 40:46Speaker 4: take whatever side they feel best. I remember going to
- 40:51Speaker 4: Knoxville in ninety six, went and talked to a bunch
- 40:54Speaker 4: of Tennessee fans about Steve and it was just nasty.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Spurs didn't like it. I'd written that story. He goes,
- 41:02Speaker 4: what'd you go find some guys under a bridge to
- 41:03Speaker 4: write that story? And I'm like, no, coach, people don't
- 41:06Speaker 4: like you.
- 41:07Speaker 2: How good you like him?
- 41:08Speaker 7: When he making comments like you can't spell stitchers without ut,
- 41:12Speaker 7: like basically saying, yeah, Tennessee's gonna win eleven games, but
- 41:16Speaker 7: they're gonna lose to us and end up in the
- 41:17Speaker 7: sitchers bawl and we're gonna be in a national championship
- 41:20Speaker 7: and stuff like that.
- 41:21Speaker 2: You can't forget when he'd say something, you know, Freeshoo's
- 41:24Speaker 2: University or something, and people would comment on it, and
- 41:27Speaker 2: I walk behind him and go, well, he really didn't.
- 41:29Speaker 4: He really didn't mean it that way.
- 41:31Speaker 7: And then after a while I realized.
- 41:33Speaker 4: He did mean it that way.
- 41:34Speaker 5: He meant it, you know, just the way he said it.
- 41:39Speaker 2: And they loved watching him, if not to like him.
- 41:43Speaker 4: To hate him. They're playing Arkansas in ninety six.
- 41:48Speaker 2: We're full topic back ask protection took the people doesn't
- 41:52Speaker 2: fits fun.
- 41:54Speaker 4: And late in the game they let their backup quarterback
- 41:58Speaker 4: go a little short touchdown pass and if Spury is
- 42:03Speaker 4: running off the field. There's an Arkansas fan. He's running up.
- 42:06Speaker 4: He's screaming him.
- 42:07Speaker 2: You running up, thug, You're running up, thug. We hate you.
- 42:10Speaker 4: You. Spurry just looked at him, goes, We like him.
- 42:12Speaker 4: When y'all say that, Tony, he's still to this day,
- 42:16Speaker 4: the most honest guy I've ever dealt with.
- 42:19Speaker 3: We're very question is I said? God still smiling on
- 42:21Speaker 3: the games?
- 42:24Speaker 2: Oh man? What a gift to all of us and
- 42:28Speaker 2: totally rebooted SEC football and made it amazing and fun.
- 42:33Speaker 2: I love what Pat Dooley, who was the number one
- 42:35Speaker 2: journalist at the time covering Florida at that time, I
- 42:39Speaker 2: love his quote, No, coach, people don't like you. How
- 42:46Speaker 2: good is that Jackson? You missed out?
- 42:49Speaker 7: I know.
- 42:51Speaker 5: I hate that because, well, yeah, he would have been great.
- 42:56Speaker 5: I was about to say, I have my own version
- 42:57Speaker 5: of him.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I guess with Lane.
- 42:58Speaker 4: But Lane ain't that oh man.
- 43:02Speaker 2: But Lane will win a national championship, I think at LSU.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Let's wrap it up with this. We loved our partner,
- 43:08Speaker 2: Mississippi State University College of Engineering, Bagley College of Engineering.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Let me tell you about the BS and cyber Security degree.
- 43:16Speaker 2: It has seemed tremendous enrollment growth over the past three years.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Students are supported by various national scholarship programs, National Science Foundation,
- 43:28Speaker 2: Cyber Corps, Department of Defense Cyber Service Academy. All at
