Transcript
- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey everyone, Emily Badi here, you are listening to another
- 0:24Speaker 1: episode of Five Minute Friday on Hurdle. Good morning, good afternoon,
- 0:28Speaker 1: Good evening. I want to talk about giving one hundred
- 0:31Speaker 1: percent of whatever you have on any given day. I'm
- 0:34Speaker 1: just going to jump right into it. This week has
- 0:36Speaker 1: been challenging for me for a number of reasons, and
- 0:43Speaker 1: I in the past have been very frustrated with myself
- 0:50Speaker 1: during moments of turbulence, especially when there are items that
- 0:56Speaker 1: I need to get done on my to do list,
- 0:58Speaker 1: or I just feel as though I, quote unquote should
- 1:02Speaker 1: be able to operate in a different capacity. The fact is, though,
- 1:08Speaker 1: that we are not going to wake up every single
- 1:11Speaker 1: morning and have it all together.
- 1:14Speaker 2: The motivation may not always be there.
- 1:17Speaker 1: The amount that we feel capable is going to differentiate
- 1:21Speaker 1: from day to day. And so something that has really
- 1:25Speaker 1: stuck with me lately is that on the days that
- 1:28Speaker 1: you wake up and you feel that you only have
- 1:32Speaker 1: seventy percent to give fifty percent to give, it is
- 1:36Speaker 1: up to you on that day then to give one
- 1:40Speaker 1: hundred percent of the seventy of the fifty and when
- 1:45Speaker 1: you view it in that way, you stop shoulting on yourself.
- 1:50Speaker 1: If only just a little right. When you view it
- 1:54Speaker 1: in that way, you approach the days where your tank
- 1:58Speaker 1: feels like it's half full, and yes I'm saying that
- 2:01Speaker 1: full to be optimistic. You're approaching that day where the
- 2:05Speaker 1: tank feels half full with a bit more grace, with
- 2:10Speaker 1: a bit more compassion for how it is that you
- 2:13Speaker 1: are capable of showing up in that moment to meet
- 2:17Speaker 1: that moment. Listen, it would be weird if you woke
- 2:22Speaker 1: up every day and fell to one hundred percent.
- 2:24Speaker 2: That is not human.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And in the scheme of things here, we're talking about
- 2:27Speaker 1: being relatable and vulnerable and not perfect. No one is perfect.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Say a letter for the people in the back. So
- 2:37Speaker 1: maybe this is you this week. Maybe you're also feeling
- 2:40Speaker 1: like your battery is in the yellow right, So when
- 2:45Speaker 1: it's in the yellow, do the best to show up
- 2:47Speaker 1: with what you can to meet that moment and recognize
- 2:52Speaker 1: that it won't stay in the yellow forever. When you
- 2:56Speaker 1: give yourself grace and compassion, you are pluging it in right,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and it's going to take time to get back up.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It's going to take time to recharge. But when you
- 3:10Speaker 1: plug it in and you do the best you can
- 3:13Speaker 1: with what you have. That's truly all that you can
- 3:16Speaker 1: ask of your self. Right now, I'm personally navigating a
- 3:21Speaker 1: bit of grief, a bit of loss, and grief is cruel.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It doesn't care what plan you have, it doesn't care
- 3:28Speaker 1: what's on the agenda, and it certainly pays no mind
- 3:32Speaker 1: to any of your wants and desires.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But the thing about grief.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And loss is that it reminds us that even through
- 3:41Speaker 1: the pain, there can be light if only you choose
- 3:46Speaker 1: to see it. And so this week I am choosing
- 3:51Speaker 1: to do the best I can with what I have
- 3:53Speaker 1: to give one hundred percent on the days that I
- 3:56Speaker 1: feel seventy percent, and for me right now, that fear
- 4:00Speaker 1: like enough. My thought prompt for you this week is
- 4:05Speaker 1: where are you being a little too hard on yourself?
- 4:07Speaker 1: How can you ease the judgment and embrace grace because
- 4:12Speaker 1: you deserve it? Where are you being a little bit
- 4:15Speaker 1: hard on yourself? And how can you embrace grace in
- 4:20Speaker 1: your day to day? And now a listener question, Hey, Emily,
- 4:25Speaker 1: longtime listener of the pod. So grateful for you and
- 4:29Speaker 1: this community. Thank you for answering questions on five Minute Friday.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I always love hearing fellow listener questions and enjoying your
- 4:36Speaker 1: take on whatever the topic is. I've been getting back
- 4:40Speaker 1: into running, and it's spring in Nebraska, which means the
- 4:43Speaker 1: weather is all over the place. I can't seem to
- 4:45Speaker 1: find the right long pant legging that doesn't feel like
- 4:48Speaker 1: it's falling down while I run. Not sure if I'm
- 4:51Speaker 1: sizing correctly or if it's the brand. So I'm curious.
- 4:54Speaker 1: What are your favorite leggings to run in? Is there
- 4:57Speaker 1: a certain compression that's best for running?
- 4:59Speaker 2: Thanks?
- 4:59Speaker 1: And Megan, Oh Megan, Oh my god, Do I have
- 5:04Speaker 1: some go tos? My first go to is the Fast
- 5:08Speaker 1: and Free legging from Lululemon. I size down one size
- 5:13Speaker 1: and that gives me the right amount of I don't
- 5:16Speaker 1: know how if there's a word for this. I mean
- 5:18Speaker 1: you said the word comprushing.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It's like the that's the noise I think of when
- 5:24Speaker 2: I think of how I want my running tights to feel.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I love that legging, the Fast and Free.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I wear the Wonder Train high Rise six inch short
- 5:34Speaker 1: with pockets as well. They currently don't have it on
- 5:37Speaker 1: the site, but they do have the regular version at
- 5:39Speaker 1: this moment. Truly, if you look at my drawers These
- 5:42Speaker 1: are the two items you will see the most up.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I do have favorites from a few other brands, including
- 5:48Speaker 1: Nike and Athleta, and I will link to those in
- 5:52Speaker 1: the show notes, but I would say that a majority
- 5:55Speaker 1: of my tights and shorts are from Lulua Lemon. I
- 5:59Speaker 1: do also have Yeah, this is a sleeper pick, but
- 6:02Speaker 1: I bought four pairs of.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It last summer.
- 6:04Speaker 1: An eighteen dollars favorite short from Target that I will
- 6:08Speaker 1: also link in the show notes, and I'll do a
- 6:10Speaker 1: post on like to Know it as well, so if
- 6:13Speaker 1: you follow me over there, I'll link my profile in
- 6:15Speaker 1: the show notes.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You can always.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Stay up to date with the picks that are in
- 6:20Speaker 1: my regular rotation. One other note here is that when
- 6:25Speaker 1: you are dressing for the season, the day you want
- 6:28Speaker 1: to be dressing like it's fifteen degrees warmer outside than
- 6:32Speaker 1: it actually is. So if it's a fifty degree day
- 6:36Speaker 1: and you're someone that's comfortable running in shorts, you'll probably
- 6:40Speaker 1: want to opt for a short over a tight, because
- 6:43Speaker 1: the real feel for your body once you get moving
- 6:46Speaker 1: is going to be sixty five degrees. That's just one
- 6:50Speaker 1: temperature example, So dress.
- 6:54Speaker 2: To be comfortable.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You don't want to get overheated out there, because we
- 6:58Speaker 1: do not need extra things making that work feel harder
- 7:02Speaker 1: than it is. Make sure you're following me over on
- 7:05Speaker 1: social It's at Emily Body. I am also over at
- 7:08Speaker 1: Hurdle Podcast another hurdle conquered.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Catch you guys next time.
