- 2:44Speaker 4: Wait.
- 2:44Speaker 5: I want to start off with a little good news
- 2:46Speaker 5: this morning about an event that's going to be going
- 2:48Speaker 5: on September twenty seventh at Little Creek Country Club in
- 2:51Speaker 5: South Charleston. It is the Red Cattle Cattle Classic. It's cattle,
- 2:56Speaker 5: not cattle. The Red Kettle Classic Golf tournament benefit the
- 3:00Speaker 5: Salvation Army and my man g money from her sister
- 3:03Speaker 5: station one of seven three The Beat, also very involved
- 3:06Speaker 5: with the Salvation Army, joins us now to talk about it.
- 3:08Speaker 5: G good morning, welcome to the show.
- 3:10Speaker 7: Hey, good morning, Dave. Thanks for having me on today.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Thank you for being here. And I'm glad to know
- 3:14Speaker 5: that everybody survived Woody Wood's wedding over the weekend.
- 3:17Speaker 7: Oh man, it was a great wedding, Dave, I tell you,
- 3:20Speaker 7: And we did survive Woody.
- 3:23Speaker 5: I heard got a little hot and bothered there and
- 3:25Speaker 5: kind of you know, had a little had a little
- 3:28Speaker 5: moment there. But he's okay now right, Oh.
- 3:30Speaker 7: You know, the show must go on and that's he,
- 3:32Speaker 7: that's my brother Woody.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Indeed, overall, G and A. I know again, in addition
- 3:38Speaker 5: to your work at one of the seven three the Beat,
- 3:39Speaker 5: you're also very involved with the Salvation Army. I mean,
- 3:42Speaker 5: you know, we see the Salvation Army folks out. We
- 3:44Speaker 5: see the red kettles of course at Christmas time, and
- 3:46Speaker 5: we know some of what they do, but that's certainly
- 3:48Speaker 5: not all of us. So give us I guess, gee,
- 3:51Speaker 5: maybe the elevator speech, if you will, about the work
- 3:54Speaker 5: some of the things from the top that the Salvation
- 3:56Speaker 5: Army does here in the Charleston area, well right.
- 3:59Speaker 7: Here in the in the area of the Salvation Army
- 4:01Speaker 7: does a lot of work. They have, of course, the
- 4:04Speaker 7: Salvation Army stores they have around and a lot of
- 4:09Speaker 7: the attention goes, of course to the Boys and Girls Club.
- 4:13Speaker 7: They have a Boys and Girls club right here in Charleston,
- 4:15Speaker 7: and they have one in Saint Albans. And like I said,
- 4:18Speaker 7: of course, you know, if you need help with your
- 4:20Speaker 7: utilities and things like that, these are some of the
- 4:22Speaker 7: things that the Salvation Army help help you with. So
- 4:27Speaker 7: the little galas and fundraisers that we do, and the
- 4:32Speaker 7: like you say, the Red Kettle Classic, the red kettles
- 4:35Speaker 7: that you see out during Christmas time, all of this
- 4:38Speaker 7: money goes to help towards people who needs help in
- 4:42Speaker 7: our community. And that's exactly what the Salvation Army does. So,
- 4:47Speaker 7: you know, we thought about, you know, hey, everyone sees
- 4:50Speaker 7: these red kettles out during Christmas, why not try to
- 4:54Speaker 7: put on a golf tournament. So this is our first
- 4:57Speaker 7: annual Red Kettle Golf Tournament that we're putting on September
- 5:02Speaker 7: to twenty seventh at Little Creek Golf Course, and we're
- 5:06Speaker 7: looking we're still looking for sponsors. And if you are
- 5:10Speaker 7: a golfer and you want a golf you want to
- 5:12Speaker 7: you're going to get you a forcing together. We're still
- 5:15Speaker 7: looking for golfers, so anything that you know. Again, if
- 5:19Speaker 7: you want a sponsor, you can reach out to Patty
- 5:23Speaker 7: Tilly and her number is give me one second year,
- 5:28Speaker 7: I have it. I'm sorry, that's all right.
- 5:30Speaker 5: You kind of got thrown into this. I mean what
- 5:32Speaker 5: I'm sorry, g kind of last minute. Got to fill
- 5:35Speaker 5: in for Patty for what I understand, So we'll forgive
- 5:38Speaker 5: you if you know, if you weren't quite prepared.
- 5:40Speaker 7: Yeah, you can reach out to Patty at three oh
- 5:42Speaker 7: four three four three four five four eight and her
- 5:48Speaker 7: extension is five zero two one one and she can
- 5:52Speaker 7: tell you all of the information. And again, the main
- 5:55Speaker 7: thing that we're looking for is sponsors, and we need
- 5:58Speaker 7: more golfers.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Yeah, and I mean, you know, there seems like there's
- 6:02Speaker 5: always some sort of golf tournament going on, but they're
- 6:04Speaker 5: always packed out. So I think people are willing to
- 6:06Speaker 5: give up a day of work to play golf, especially
- 6:08Speaker 5: if the weather's good and Little Creek is a great
- 6:10Speaker 5: place to play as well.
- 6:12Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, And it's on a Friday, so why not
- 6:15Speaker 7: take you Friday also work and come out and play
- 6:17Speaker 7: some golf.
- 6:17Speaker 5: The only day better than Friday to take off is Monday.
- 6:20Speaker 5: That's why a lot of people have them on Monday.
- 6:22Speaker 5: But Friday is just as good. And of course you're
- 6:24Speaker 5: going to do all the awards that go along with golf.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Closest to the pen, the longest drive, and mulligans will
- 6:29Speaker 5: be available, all the stuff that goes along, and also
- 6:31Speaker 5: prizes for the winner as well. It's going to be
- 6:34Speaker 5: September twenty seventh at Little Creek Golf Course. And again
- 6:37Speaker 5: they're in need of sponsors right now and golfers, so
- 6:41Speaker 5: get you foursome together if you want to come out.
- 6:43Speaker 5: I'm sure as an individual they'll put you with a
- 6:45Speaker 5: team if that's what has to happen. And if your
- 6:48Speaker 5: company would like to get involved with you as an
- 6:50Speaker 5: individual would just like to make a donation, just get
- 6:53Speaker 5: with Patty and the folks at the Salvation Army again.
- 6:55Speaker 5: The event is September twenty seventh at Little Creek Golf Course.
- 6:58Speaker 5: And geez I said, I know you're somebody that's very
- 7:00Speaker 5: involved with the Salvation Army and you get to see
- 7:02Speaker 5: on a daily basis the things that they do, not
- 7:05Speaker 5: just at Christmas time, but but year round, buddy.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Exactly, Like I say, we right now, we're still looking
- 7:12Speaker 7: for sponsors, and one of our sponsors is to back
- 7:15Speaker 7: to school sponsors. And again, you know, we do a
- 7:17Speaker 7: lot of things when it comes to the kids going
- 7:19Speaker 7: back to school. Another one of our sponsors, like I stated,
- 7:23Speaker 7: was the Boys and Girls Club. We have a Boys
- 7:25Speaker 7: and Girls club here in Charleston and one in Saint Aubans,
- 7:29Speaker 7: So you know, we they we do a lot of
- 7:31Speaker 7: things and they you know, you see a lot right
- 7:34Speaker 7: at Christmas time. The Angel Tree. I cannot forget about
- 7:37Speaker 7: the Angel Tree. You know, that is one of our
- 7:40Speaker 7: big things during the Christmas time. You know, we allow
- 7:43Speaker 7: you know, people to go out and pick the kids'
- 7:46Speaker 7: names off of the tree and provide gifts. So that
- 7:48Speaker 7: is another one of our big sponsors. So you know,
- 7:51Speaker 7: the Salvation Army does a lot for the community, and
- 7:55Speaker 7: you know, why not give back to the Salvation Army.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Absolutely, And again that number I think is three zero four,
- 8:01Speaker 5: three four, three forty five, forty eight that was the
- 8:03Speaker 5: correct number for Patty at the Salvation Army. Hey, gee,
- 8:06Speaker 5: I know you're really, really, really busy, and we were
- 8:08Speaker 5: able to sweeze you in here this morning to talk
- 8:10Speaker 5: about it. We'll talk about a little bit more as
- 8:12Speaker 5: we get a little bit closer. Thanks a lot, Have
- 8:14Speaker 5: a great day, buddy. We'll see you out there on
- 8:15Speaker 5: the twenty seventh.
- 8:16Speaker 7: All right, Dave, I appreciate you having me.
- 8:18Speaker 5: All right, man, that's g Money, our man from our
- 8:21Speaker 5: sister station. What was seven three? The beat also heavily
- 8:23Speaker 5: involved with the work of the Salvation Army that read
- 8:26Speaker 5: Kettle Classic. What they hope is going to be a
- 8:29Speaker 5: yearly event happening September twenty seventh at Little Creek Golf
- 8:33Speaker 5: Course in South Charleston. So get out there, and again
- 8:37Speaker 5: I like the idea of having it on a Friday,
- 8:39Speaker 5: So go ahead, start your weekend early, get out there
- 8:41Speaker 5: and play some golf, shoot some golfs, as my father
- 8:44Speaker 5: used to say, and get an opportunity to help out
- 8:46Speaker 5: those in need, not only at Christmas, but year round.
- 8:49Speaker 5: You'll be helping out the boys and girls clubs. Just
- 8:51Speaker 5: just great, great cause all around. September twenty seventh, at

- 9:31Speaker 5: zero zero eight. So we had an opportunity to hear
- 9:34Speaker 5: yesterday's show, but I did with the Secretary of the
- 9:38Speaker 5: State Republican Party, Tony Hodge. He was on yesterday not
- 9:42Speaker 5: talking about necessarily his work with the state GOP, but
- 9:45Speaker 5: he was on ready to talk about this podcast that
- 9:48Speaker 5: he has launched and went back and forth with the listeners.
- 9:51Speaker 5: So I had a couple of texts. I know Tony
- 9:53Speaker 5: listens to the show just about every day. Tex says,
- 9:56Speaker 5: and this was in all. Let me give a little
- 9:59Speaker 5: by ground here and again. I don't argue religion with people,
- 10:05Speaker 5: That's one thing I don't do. But to somebody had
- 10:08Speaker 5: brought up to Tony something that was in the Bible.
- 10:10Speaker 5: And follow up Texas morning, he says, I know Tony
- 10:13Speaker 5: with dodgs a tabernacle water question, claiming that Christians don't
- 10:16Speaker 5: have to follow the Old Testament. He's of course lying.
- 10:18Speaker 5: He thinks it's okay because it furthers the Christian nationalism.
- 10:21Speaker 5: When you see Tony, I'm sure he's listening. Ask him why.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Matthew five seventeen through nineteen states that Jesus had not
- 10:28Speaker 5: come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have
- 10:30Speaker 5: not come to abolish him, but to fulfill them. Then
- 10:33Speaker 5: ask him if he could ignore parts of the Bible
- 10:35Speaker 5: literally prescribing an abortion, because it's inconvenient to him. Why can't
- 10:39Speaker 5: someone else guarantee he'll lie that Jesus said so, and
- 10:42Speaker 5: lie that Jesus didn't say that, not one iota of
- 10:45Speaker 5: Old Testament law should be disregarded. Tony lies for Jesus,
- 10:49Speaker 5: all fundamentalist Christians do pretty pretty harsh stuff from a text. Hey, like,
- 10:54Speaker 5: I'm just a con do it, man, I just put
- 10:57Speaker 5: the information out there. Coming up TOMORROWSHO know, we're going
- 11:01Speaker 5: to get into all these school threats and repercussions thereof.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Let me tell you some heads are about to be
- 11:06Speaker 5: cracking over this, and I've got some stats I'm going
- 11:10Speaker 5: to give you a little bit later on in the
- 11:11Speaker 5: show if I get around to it about there. Yesterday,
- 11:14Speaker 5: just yesterday, two more students from the Elky area I
- 11:17Speaker 5: believe it was, were charged with making threats. This says
- 11:22Speaker 5: nothing to nothing to laugh about. And if you're a
- 11:24Speaker 5: parent or a grandparent, or you're in charge of a kid,
- 11:26Speaker 5: you need to sutten down and say, look, you do this,
- 11:29Speaker 5: you're going to be charged and you are going to
- 11:31Speaker 5: be in a heck of a lot of trouble. We're
- 11:33Speaker 5: not talking about grounding or taking away your cell phone.
- 11:36Speaker 5: We're talking about you going away for a long time.
- 11:38Speaker 5: So tomorrow on the show, I'm gonna be joined by
- 11:40Speaker 5: Rob Cunningham from Homeland Security here in West Virginia. And
- 11:42Speaker 5: also Knaw County Prosecutor Deb Rusnick. She's been all over
- 11:46Speaker 5: the news basically saying what I just said. I'm going
- 11:48Speaker 5: to have the two of them in studio together to
- 11:51Speaker 5: talk about what is going on not only in West Virginia,
- 11:55Speaker 5: but other areas as well. Also in tomorrow show, doctor

- 14:57Speaker 5: So again, the way this is gonna work, they're gonna

- 15:03Speaker 5: and tomorrow night to go markin Ballpark. Then they're gonna
- 15:05Speaker 5: go on the road and they're gonna be facing Gastonia.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Of course, it's the best of five series, and if
- 15:11Speaker 5: they win the series, I don't want to get the
- 15:13Speaker 5: cart before the proverbial horse, then there's an opportunity for
- 15:16Speaker 5: them possibly to come back next week. But that's it's
- 15:18Speaker 5: kind of where we are right now. Again, the games
- 15:20Speaker 5: at the ballpark tonight at the Borrow and eight both
- 15:22Speaker 5: start at six thirty five, and I want to give
- 15:25Speaker 5: a big shout out to Jill Garren, the voice of

- 15:31Speaker 5: Jill was on the show yesterday talking about this about
- 15:35Speaker 5: twenty four hours ago in this very position. She was
- 15:37Speaker 5: on the show giving us the preview of the of
- 15:40Speaker 5: the of the Dirty Birds playoff games here and on
- 15:43Speaker 5: the road, and then she goes off and gets married.
- 15:45Speaker 5: She literally scheduled the interview and then she went and
- 15:49Speaker 5: got married yesterday. Never mentioned it on the air or anything.
- 15:52Speaker 5: I mean, like, what are you doing later day? Well,
- 15:54Speaker 5: I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna go and run some marns,
- 15:56Speaker 5: go to post offics on and I'm gonna go get
- 15:58Speaker 5: married too. So that's what she did. After the interview,
- 16:01Speaker 5: she went and got married yesterday. But I'll guarantee you
- 16:03Speaker 5: is she'll be back at the ballpark tonight and tomorrow
- 16:05Speaker 5: night as well. So Jill, congratulations, enjoy your niptials. Welcome
- 16:11Speaker 5: to the show. Kaylee Young, Kenawan County Democrat. How are
- 16:14Speaker 5: you welcome to my friend. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool.
- 16:16Speaker 10: I think that's really cool.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Come and doing your job and go. Oh, by the way,
- 16:19Speaker 5: I got to go get married at eleven o'clock, make.
- 16:21Speaker 10: A Monday wedding, but then I'll be back.
- 16:23Speaker 5: At the ballpark.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Congratulations to it, Jill. She's good people and we're lucky
- 16:27Speaker 5: to have her here in Charles graduator to her husband
- 16:30Speaker 5: as well. All right, So I want to get in
- 16:33Speaker 5: to it with you a little bit, Delian. First of all,
- 16:35Speaker 5: you were at the DNC, the Democratic National Convention, were
- 16:38Speaker 5: you not.
- 16:38Speaker 10: I was at the DNC.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Yes, your first time you'd been there.
- 16:41Speaker 10: It was Yeah, I think we talked about it. It
- 16:42Speaker 10: was a good time, all right.
- 16:43Speaker 5: I want to give me give me your overall. I mean,
- 16:45Speaker 5: I know there's a lot of excitement that came out
- 16:47Speaker 5: of that. You had a good time.
- 16:48Speaker 10: Kind of felt like the super Bowl, and it seemed
- 16:49Speaker 10: like the Dems were trying to say, you know, we're
- 16:52Speaker 10: a big tent for folks that might not be big
- 16:54Speaker 10: Trump supporters, that there's room for everybody. There were a
- 16:56Speaker 10: lot of Republican speakers. The message was very centered, lots
- 16:59Speaker 10: of American flags and patriotism. It felt good.
- 17:02Speaker 5: I want to ask you this, and I'm almost I'm
- 17:04Speaker 5: going to get back to local stuff, but I do
- 17:06Speaker 5: want to talk about some national things. How are you feeling,
- 17:08Speaker 5: Delegate now that Kamala Harris is a nominee, because I
- 17:11Speaker 5: know you were one of the first Democrats I saw,
- 17:13Speaker 5: and there were others, but you were one of ones
- 17:15Speaker 5: that kind of put it out there asking for President
- 17:19Speaker 5: Biden to step aside and to catapult Kamala Harrison into
- 17:25Speaker 5: that position. So how are you feeling now?
- 17:28Speaker 10: So I was the first Democrat and West Virginia to
- 17:30Speaker 10: ask President Biden to step aside. I think Senator Mansion
- 17:32Speaker 10: followed me, but I don't know that he's a Democrat anymore,
- 17:35Speaker 10: and so maybe I was the only one, honestly, So
- 17:38Speaker 10: I'm feeling a lot better about our candidate and about
- 17:40Speaker 10: our chances this fall.
- 17:42Speaker 5: All right, So let's move on. Let's talk about child issues,
- 17:44Speaker 5: because I know it's something that is near and dear
- 17:47Speaker 5: to your heart. Wallett and Wallet special session is scheduled
- 17:53Speaker 5: for September thirtieth. We got a lot of issues in
- 17:56Speaker 5: this state with and I said child care once before.
- 17:59Speaker 5: It's not just childcare if it has the word child
- 18:02Speaker 5: in front of it. It seems like in West Virginia,
- 18:05Speaker 5: for one reason or another, we have a problem.
- 18:06Speaker 10: That's right with it. Yeah, I would say I saw
- 18:09Speaker 10: that our math and English scores are getting better, so
- 18:11Speaker 10: I'm excited about that. And our chronic absenteeism is getting
- 18:14Speaker 10: better thanks to some legislation that we passed. But child
- 18:17Speaker 10: welfare and childcare issues, which child welfare is foster care system,
- 18:21Speaker 10: that sort of thing, we still got a lot of
- 18:23Speaker 10: work to do.
- 18:26Speaker 5: And something else that's actually getting a little bit better.
- 18:28Speaker 5: I was happy to see last week his attendance in
- 18:30Speaker 5: West Virginia. It's actually it's actually getting a little bit better.
- 18:32Speaker 10: It is getting better because of a law that we passed,
- 18:34Speaker 10: and so I'm excited about that. There's still a lot
- 18:36Speaker 10: of work to be done. But yeah, that one's getting better.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Again, we're talking with the delicate Klee Young. Let's talk
- 18:41Speaker 5: about childcare. Yeah, that's that's that's really at the heart
- 18:45Speaker 5: of a lot of issues here. We want to get
- 18:47Speaker 5: people back to work. There are plenty of jobs available.
- 18:49Speaker 10: There are more jobs and people.
- 18:50Speaker 5: There are more jobs and people. So please don't come
- 18:52Speaker 5: at me, not that you would, but these that there
- 18:54Speaker 5: are no jobs out there. There are jobs available. But
- 18:56Speaker 5: childcare is a major major issue.
- 18:58Speaker 10: Delegate, that's right, childcare cost about thirty percent of families budgets.
- 19:02Speaker 10: They've found between fifteen and thirty percent of a family's budget.
- 19:06Speaker 10: It costs more out of pocket than paying for WVU
- 19:09Speaker 10: per semester. And there's not a lot of financial help
- 19:11Speaker 10: if you make over a certain income level, and that
- 19:13Speaker 10: income level's pretty low, so there's not a lot of help.
- 19:16Speaker 10: And it is expensive. It's about two hundred bucks a
- 19:18Speaker 10: week a kid. It's high.
- 19:21Speaker 5: So what is the government's role?
- 19:23Speaker 10: So it's this is a sticky wicket, right because it
- 19:26Speaker 10: is a system that we have to have for people
- 19:28Speaker 10: to go to work, and it we're figuring out what
- 19:31Speaker 10: the government's role is. In the nineteen forties, we had
- 19:33Speaker 10: universal childcare that the federal government paid for during World
- 19:36Speaker 10: War Two, and that was the only time we ever
- 19:38Speaker 10: had it. And so the government subsidizes childcare heavily in
- 19:41Speaker 10: the state, and that's federal funding. The state itself puts
- 19:44Speaker 10: in about eight million dollars and that amount has actually
- 19:48Speaker 10: decreased sixty percent over the last decade, and we've seen
- 19:52Speaker 10: our childcare decreasing as well. We've had seventy centers closed
- 19:55Speaker 10: this year.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Specifically, why are they closing?
- 19:58Speaker 10: They're closing because their costs have gone up drastically and
- 20:00Speaker 10: the funding that the state has put in has gone down.
- 20:03Speaker 10: Right now, it's a very very slim margin for a
- 20:05Speaker 10: childcare business. If you decided I want to start a
- 20:08Speaker 10: childcare business, and you go into a bank to get
- 20:10Speaker 10: a loan and you show them the numbers, no one's
- 20:12Speaker 10: going to give you that loan. The numbers don't make sense.
- 20:14Speaker 10: It is not a business where you make money. But
- 20:17Speaker 10: it is an essential service and that's why the government
- 20:19Speaker 10: needs to have a role in it. It is it
- 20:20Speaker 10: is infrastructure, and we saw that absolutely during the pandemic,
- 20:24Speaker 10: so we have a role to play. That doesn't mean
- 20:26Speaker 10: we fully pay for it, but I think we get
- 20:29Speaker 10: businesses involved. I think there's a private public partnership. We've
- 20:31Speaker 10: had a lot of bills introduced in the House to
- 20:33Speaker 10: do so, and so hopefully we'll see those. We haven't
- 20:36Speaker 10: seen the call yet for a special session.
- 20:38Speaker 5: I want to ask you about that again. With the
- 20:40Speaker 5: special session. Obviously, you and others on both sides of
- 20:43Speaker 5: the aspect are scream at the top of your lungs childcare, childcare,
- 20:47Speaker 5: or anything related to childcare. But are you hopeful about
- 20:50Speaker 5: the special sess.
- 20:50Speaker 10: I've remained hopeful right now. Yeah, we saw the governor
- 20:53Speaker 10: had one childcare bill during the regular session. It was
- 20:56Speaker 10: a tax credit. There's already a federal tax credit, and
- 20:59Speaker 10: this would be about half of that tax credit. We
- 21:01Speaker 10: know eleven thousand people in West Virginia claim that credit
- 21:04Speaker 10: currently and it's about four hundred and fifty bucks, so
- 21:06Speaker 10: half of that would be about two hundred and twenty
- 21:09Speaker 10: five dollars for those families. And those are families that
- 21:11Speaker 10: are making less than forty thousand dollars a year. And
- 21:13Speaker 10: if you're making I mean the low the people who
- 21:15Speaker 10: get the most money back make less than fifteen thousand
- 21:18Speaker 10: dollars a year. Those people already aren't paying for childcare.
- 21:20Speaker 10: So this is a piece of the puzzle. I'm gonna
- 21:22Speaker 10: support that proposal if that's what we're gonna see, but
- 21:24Speaker 10: we need so much more than that. And you're right,
- 21:26Speaker 10: it's bipartisan.
- 21:27Speaker 5: What would you say to those And I've had you know,
- 21:29Speaker 5: various legislators on the air from time to time or
- 21:32Speaker 5: maybe listeners or whatever. They say, it's not the government's
- 21:35Speaker 5: role to do this.
- 21:36Speaker 10: I understand where they're coming from, but I think it
- 21:38Speaker 10: is infrastructure. I mean it's not the government's role, I guess,
- 21:41Speaker 10: just like maybe roads shouldn't be the government's role, but
- 21:43Speaker 10: I have a feel I think they are. I think
- 21:45Speaker 10: it is the government's role to help folks, you know,
- 21:48Speaker 10: have their basic needs met and to definitely help in
- 21:50Speaker 10: the development of children. This is not This is about
- 21:53Speaker 10: getting parents to work, absolutely, but it's also about making
- 21:56Speaker 10: sure that our young leaders are having the best setup
- 21:59Speaker 10: that they can. It's also about parental choice. It's about
- 22:01Speaker 10: making sure that families can do what works for them,
- 22:03Speaker 10: not what they have to do. And sometimes what they
- 22:05Speaker 10: have to do right now is stay home and not
- 22:07Speaker 10: work because they can't find or afford childcare.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Talking again with Delicate Kyale Young the Dave Island Show
- 22:13Speaker 5: in five Adie Live Bright to You Apart by bright
- 22:15Speaker 5: Way Insurance The Maze Agency spend time on your business,
- 22:17Speaker 5: not your insurance. Rightway Insurance. Amaze Agency can help explain
- 22:20Speaker 5: the type of insurance you need based on your line
- 22:22Speaker 5: of business, your location, and other important factors. They can
- 22:25Speaker 5: also select different insurance companies to make sure you're getting
- 22:28Speaker 5: the right coverages and prices to protect your business. For more,
- 22:31Speaker 5: visit Brightwaymaids dot com. Let's talk about other child issues
- 22:34Speaker 5: in instead of West Virginia. We talked about childcare, but
- 22:37Speaker 5: obviously we've got a problem called a crisis called whatever
- 22:41Speaker 5: you want with foster care in West Virginia. And as
- 22:45Speaker 5: I said earlier the top of the show, Delegate, if
- 22:47Speaker 5: it's got the word child in front of it, it
- 22:48Speaker 5: seems like and I you know, I don't want to
- 22:51Speaker 5: be all doomed in gloom, but it seems like that
- 22:53Speaker 5: for one reason or another, West Virginia is falling behind
- 22:56Speaker 5: if it has the word child in it. So how
- 23:01Speaker 5: did we get here? How do we fix it? There's
- 23:02Speaker 5: your there's your task. I'll leave you go ahead and
- 23:04Speaker 5: talk about it.
- 23:04Speaker 10: I wish that that was a simple answer, right, But
- 23:07Speaker 10: I think we all trying to We are trying to
- 23:09Speaker 10: work on fixing it. And I don't think we got
- 23:11Speaker 10: here from one political party or another, I think, but
- 23:14Speaker 10: I do think we're here. And it also makes me
- 23:16Speaker 10: wonder why in the world would people be moving their
- 23:18Speaker 10: businesses here if we're failing our children. I can't understand it.
- 23:21Speaker 10: These it's our future, and so we are failing them
- 23:25Speaker 10: in every way, not every single way, right, but in
- 23:27Speaker 10: a lot of ways, and so we need to put
- 23:29Speaker 10: our money where our mouth is. We have all this
- 23:31Speaker 10: extra money, we should put a lot of it towards children,
- 23:34Speaker 10: making sure they're safe at school, making sure they have
- 23:37Speaker 10: adequate aftercare needs, pre K needs, making sure they have
- 23:40Speaker 10: mental health services, all these things that we can do
- 23:43Speaker 10: to set them up for futures, not set them up
- 23:45Speaker 10: for jail or prison or lives that aren't great. We
- 23:49Speaker 10: need to do everything we can to help them.
- 23:52Speaker 5: How are we doing at taking a look at things
- 23:54Speaker 5: like you know, and again, everybody's get their their feelings
- 23:57Speaker 5: on home home homeschooling not sink. If it's done, I
- 24:00Speaker 5: have no issue with it whatsoever, but sadly, in many
- 24:03Speaker 5: cases not all by entreaching the imagination. As I've told
- 24:05Speaker 5: the story on the show. My best friend from high school,
- 24:08Speaker 5: she and her husband homeschooled their kids, no issues whatsoever.
- 24:11Speaker 5: They did everything they're supposed to do, and the kids
- 24:12Speaker 5: turned out great, and they're responsible adults now, so on
- 24:15Speaker 5: and so forth. But there's an issue with reporting. I
- 24:18Speaker 5: think sometimes it goes back to I mean, you just
- 24:20Speaker 5: take a look at what happened in Boone County. Yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 5: that situation down there. Maybe the left didn't know left
- 24:25Speaker 5: hand didn't know what the right hand was doing or whatever,
- 24:28Speaker 5: and that unfortunately that young lady, it appears fell through
- 24:31Speaker 5: the cracks. We've seen it in other areas. How do
- 24:34Speaker 5: we fix that?
- 24:34Speaker 10: I think there's a lot to do, and I think
- 24:36Speaker 10: it involves bringing everyone to the table. I've tried to
- 24:38Speaker 10: think of unique solutions. I know we often say what
- 24:40Speaker 10: are all the other states doing? But I think this
- 24:43Speaker 10: is happening kind of everywhere. I don't think anyone's getting
- 24:45Speaker 10: it perfectly right. So I think it involves bringing everyone
- 24:48Speaker 10: to the table with dignity and respect. I think that
- 24:50Speaker 10: there are people that are doing great jobs homeschooling too.
- 24:53Speaker 10: I don't think we should be villainizing anyone in this situation.
- 24:56Speaker 10: But something isn't working right.
- 24:57Speaker 5: I mean, and you've talked about on the show. I
- 24:59Speaker 5: think sometimes if you have a D after your name,
- 25:01Speaker 5: people automatically think your anti homeschool and your anti charter
- 25:04Speaker 5: school whatever. You just want it done right right. That's
- 25:07Speaker 5: what the decision that the parents do.
- 25:08Speaker 10: Yeah, I care about kids right.
- 25:10Speaker 5: How to text for you is totally unrelated, but I
- 25:12Speaker 5: know that you're always good to answer questions. It says
- 25:15Speaker 5: I hope we can all agree that West Virginia must
- 25:17Speaker 5: have tougher animal abuse and neglect laws than we currently do,
- 25:20Speaker 5: which do nothing to deter people from hurting these sweet,
- 25:23Speaker 5: innocent creatures. Otherwise this evil will continue to escalate. Can
- 25:26Speaker 5: both sides please come together at least on this issue
- 25:29Speaker 5: during special session? They do not deserve the cruelty inflicted
- 25:32Speaker 5: upon them, thank you.
- 25:33Speaker 10: I doubt it's going to happen during special session. That
- 25:36Speaker 10: would be a call to the governor, not me, unfortunately,
- 25:38Speaker 10: But yeah, I think we should work on animal abuse laws.
- 25:40Speaker 10: I always worked on animal cruelty laws with our mutual
- 25:43Speaker 10: friend Diana Graves, who was great on all those issues.
- 25:46Speaker 10: And so yeah, we absolutely need.
- 25:48Speaker 5: To do more, but probably not doing special sessionally, not
- 25:51Speaker 5: during just because you can only discuss what's on that
- 25:54Speaker 5: and it looks like it. I mean, hopefully it's going
- 25:56Speaker 5: to be addressing the childcare I mean that's the hope. Anyway.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Twenty seven minutes away from ten, you mentioned there briefly
- 26:03Speaker 5: about the excess money that West Virginia has. Of course,
- 26:05Speaker 5: the governor is calling. He would love to see the
- 26:10Speaker 5: total removal of the state income tax in West Virginia.
- 26:13Speaker 5: There's a lot of talk about surpluses and removing you know,
- 26:16Speaker 5: a lot of Republicans even aren't for that. Where are
- 26:18Speaker 5: you on things like that?
- 26:20Speaker 10: I mean, I think if we have extra money, we
- 26:21Speaker 10: should make sure that all of our services are funded adequately.
- 26:24Speaker 10: And we've had a flat budget for a very long time,
- 26:26Speaker 10: so that hasn't happened. But also if we have extra
- 26:29Speaker 10: money and can give it back to folks, I'm all
- 26:31Speaker 10: for it. I supported the lowering the personal income tax,
- 26:34Speaker 10: and there was even an extra four percent that hasn't
- 26:37Speaker 10: even gone into effect yet, so I think, I don't
- 26:40Speaker 10: We'll see what happens. But I mean, people are already
- 26:42Speaker 10: getting a quarter of their income tax back and it
- 26:45Speaker 10: hasn't taken full effect, so we also haven't seen what
- 26:48Speaker 10: it's going to do to our state budget.
- 26:49Speaker 5: I worry long term, a lot of Republicans would echo
- 26:53Speaker 5: what you're saying. I've had Senator Tara on the show
- 26:55Speaker 5: last week. I know, House Speaker Hanshaw, Senate President Lair,
- 26:58Speaker 5: even Attorney General Morrissey, the Republican nominee for governor, even
- 27:02Speaker 5: says we got we got to err on the side
- 27:04Speaker 5: of caution on this and pump the brakes a little bit.
- 27:07Speaker 5: You go along with that.
- 27:07Speaker 10: I agree with that completely. Yeah, I think people elect
- 27:10Speaker 10: us to be responsible and we need to do so,
- 27:12Speaker 10: not just try to win elections.
- 27:14Speaker 5: So let's let's talk a little bit about what else
- 27:17Speaker 5: is going on in your world. I mean, we know
- 27:18Speaker 5: we get the special session covered up on the thirtieth,
- 27:21Speaker 5: but what's what's what's keeping you up at night or
- 27:23Speaker 5: keeping you working these days?
- 27:25Speaker 10: Not keeping me up at night. But I've been on
- 27:27Speaker 10: TikTok a lot lately and trying to explain different things
- 27:29Speaker 10: in the government from nonpartisan standpoints. I understand that I'm
- 27:33Speaker 10: an elected partisan member of the legislature, but I try
- 27:35Speaker 10: to just put information out. We have a constitutional amendment
- 27:38Speaker 10: on the ballot. I'm not for or against this, and
- 27:41Speaker 10: that sounds like a super politician answer. I'll tell you
- 27:45Speaker 10: how I feel. But more than anything, I want people
- 27:47Speaker 10: to know that there's a constitutional amendment on the ballot
- 27:49Speaker 10: this fall. I've talked to so many people that have
- 27:52Speaker 10: no idea find it to us. So it's Amendment one.
- 27:55Speaker 10: It is called Protection from Physician Assisted Suicide and and
- 28:00Speaker 10: basically it is banning in our constitution to say that
- 28:05Speaker 10: we could never have physicians assist with suicide. So there
- 28:10Speaker 10: are some states that have different sources of laws, like
- 28:13Speaker 10: death with dignity. None of these laws have been introduced
- 28:16Speaker 10: in West Virginia, but it would allow in certain instances
- 28:19Speaker 10: if this law was passed, to allow people with like
- 28:23Speaker 10: terminal illnesses to use a doctor to end their life
- 28:27Speaker 10: on their own terms. And so that's not happening here.
- 28:30Speaker 10: I'm not pushing that, but there's a constitutional amendment to
- 28:33Speaker 10: ban it, and that's going to be on your ballot
- 28:35Speaker 10: this year. And if you read it, it's very long
- 28:38Speaker 10: and it's very confusing, but essentially a yes vote means
- 28:41Speaker 10: you want to ban that practice for ever happening because
- 28:45Speaker 10: it would be in our state constitution. And in no
- 28:47Speaker 10: vote means you want to keep everything as it is
- 28:49Speaker 10: right now.
- 28:50Speaker 5: But I mean it's already on the books, right.
- 28:53Speaker 10: Murder is a crime, that's right, right, Okay.
- 28:55Speaker 5: And I know I guess some information last night from
- 29:00Speaker 5: in Putnam County last night, the Putnam County Republican Executive Committee,
- 29:03Speaker 5: I guess met last night and they they've passed a
- 29:06Speaker 5: resolution where where where you know they're they're calling it
- 29:09Speaker 5: a good pro life bill.
- 29:11Speaker 10: It is the Yeah, the only people I've seen talking
- 29:14Speaker 10: about it are people that call themselves pro life, and
- 29:18Speaker 10: they believe in a natural death, and so they don't
- 29:21Speaker 10: believe that there's any instance where, you know, they don't
- 29:24Speaker 10: want folks to have bodily autonomy essentially and be able
- 29:26Speaker 10: to make those own choices. They want the government to
- 29:29Speaker 10: get in their business and make their medical decisions for them,
- 29:31Speaker 10: in my opinion, and so basically those are the things
- 29:34Speaker 10: that you're deciding on on this constitutional amendment. But please
- 29:37Speaker 10: please pay attention to how it's worded, because it is
- 29:39Speaker 10: very confusing.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Okay, and let me knock out a couple of texts
- 29:42Speaker 5: for you before you go to deligate young regarding government
- 29:45Speaker 5: funded childcare. It's not the government's job to pay for childcare.
- 29:49Speaker 5: Parents choose to have kids and choose to be two
- 29:51Speaker 5: income families. Personally, my wife and I chose to have
- 29:53Speaker 5: kids and have her stay at home while I worked.
- 29:56Speaker 5: We made priority choices so we could do that, and
- 29:59Speaker 5: it worked.
- 30:00Speaker 10: I'm sure it did work. And again, I don't want
- 30:01Speaker 10: to take those choices away from folks. I just want
- 30:03Speaker 10: to make sure that everyone's able to make the choice
- 30:05Speaker 10: that they want to make, whether they want to work,
- 30:07Speaker 10: stay at home with their kids, whatever. We just want
- 30:09Speaker 10: to make sure that that's available for everyone. West Virginia
- 30:11Speaker 10: has the lowest workforce participation and our test scores are
- 30:14Speaker 10: also very low for our kids. So something isn't working
- 30:17Speaker 10: right now, Texas.
- 30:18Speaker 5: If the government doesn't have a role in the suring
- 30:20Speaker 5: children have adequate resources, should the government expect those children
- 30:23Speaker 5: to assure its existence when they are older.
- 30:26Speaker 10: I don't really understand what that even well.
- 30:29Speaker 5: I think I think basically what they're saying is is
- 30:31Speaker 5: to those that would say that the government has.
- 30:34Speaker 11: No role in this.
- 30:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 10: For me, it's interesting that we in our state constitution
- 30:39Speaker 10: we guarantee free education, but that only starts at five,
- 30:42Speaker 10: and we expect kids to show up to school ready
- 30:45Speaker 10: at five, and a lot of them aren't because of
- 30:48Speaker 10: whatever reason. So I don't know why that isn't extended
- 30:51Speaker 10: as far down as we can. West Virginia has been
- 30:53Speaker 10: a leader in universal pre k I think we should
- 30:55Speaker 10: extend that to help folks make sure they can go
- 30:58Speaker 10: to work and help make sure those kids are as
- 31:00Speaker 10: ready as.
- 31:00Speaker 5: Possible final Texas. As a former Democrat, I applaud Kaylee
- 31:05Speaker 5: Young for her views she sounds like an old school Democrat,
- 31:08Speaker 5: not one of those that have gone completely insane like
- 31:11Speaker 5: many have over the past decades. Are you completely insane, Delegate?
- 31:14Speaker 10: I hope I'm not completely insane. Maybe some days sometimes maybe, Yeah,
- 31:19Speaker 10: sometimes I feel completely insane in the legislature because I'm
- 31:22Speaker 10: out here fighting for things like free school lunch for
- 31:25Speaker 10: kids and childcare and just making sure that everybody is
- 31:29Speaker 10: getting along. I want nothing more than the government to
- 31:31Speaker 10: be really boring, and the government hasn't been boring since
- 31:34Speaker 10: I've been a very long time. I think we can
- 31:37Speaker 10: all agree we have the government is not boring enough.
- 31:41Speaker 5: That's a very good way to end it. Ryan. That's
- 31:43Speaker 5: promo material right there. That's going to be in a promo,
- 31:46Speaker 5: just so you know.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:47Speaker 10: I mean, we should just be able to go. It
- 31:49Speaker 10: should just work, and it's not in a lot of ways.
- 31:52Speaker 10: And again it's not partisan. We just need to fix
- 31:54Speaker 10: some stuff and quit worrying about all these big social issues.

- 36:16Speaker 5: when they're older? Follow up, Texas, what I was saying

- 36:57Speaker 5: has a story Chief posted a WV metro news dot
- 37:01Speaker 5: com And in case you want to follow a logan
- 37:02Speaker 5: home the city is good to be purchasing the old
- 37:05Speaker 5: truest building on Piedmont Road. Chief, why the new building?
- 37:09Speaker 14: We have been cramped for many years. We've actually been
- 37:12Speaker 14: in city Hall for about one hundred and two years
- 37:14Speaker 14: according to the history that I can find. And of
- 37:16Speaker 14: course back then we had much less police officers. But
- 37:20Speaker 14: now for decades now we've we've had a lot of
- 37:23Speaker 14: officers and we've just outgrown our space and you know,
- 37:27Speaker 14: we're we're stretched out all through the city. We have
- 37:29Speaker 14: about six buildings now that we work out of and
- 37:33Speaker 14: to have this building that has plenty of space to
- 37:36Speaker 14: grow and everybody will be under one roof. So and
- 37:40Speaker 14: why that is so important is for communications and efficiency
- 37:44Speaker 14: of operations.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Uh, a lot easier to communicate when when the guy's
- 37:48Speaker 5: down the hall or beside you, as opposed to you know,
- 37:51Speaker 5: completely across town. Even in the world of texting and emails.
- 37:54Speaker 14: Yeah, exactly. So we all have cell phones, we all
- 37:56Speaker 14: have email, but it makes it so much easier to
- 37:59Speaker 14: have that face to face com conversation with employees and
- 38:01Speaker 14: it helps building around camaraderie as well.
- 38:04Speaker 5: We're talking with the Chief, Scott Dempsey of the Charleston
- 38:06Speaker 5: Police depart and I know a lot went into this decision,
- 38:08Speaker 5: and the council voted on it last night, and I'm
- 38:12Speaker 5: told it was it was unanimous. There was no no
- 38:14Speaker 5: votes against me. I don't know how anybody could possibly
- 38:17Speaker 5: be against it. So when you say that it's going
- 38:19Speaker 5: to consolidate everybody together, are you is the city still
- 38:22Speaker 5: going to have police precincts in other areas like they
- 38:24Speaker 5: do or just everybody goes there together.
- 38:26Speaker 14: Yes, we will still have some areas where we have
- 38:28Speaker 14: an office or I don't want to call it a
- 38:32Speaker 14: precinct suit much, but at least some presence. I know
- 38:34Speaker 14: we're working with Mayor good One now to still have
- 38:37Speaker 14: some presence at city Hall. You know, with the special
- 38:40Speaker 14: events that we have in that area of the Boulevard
- 38:43Speaker 14: and Court Street, we're still going to have some presence
- 38:47Speaker 14: there at city Hall.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Now you know the city, you know, backwards, forwards and
- 38:51Speaker 5: upside down, I'm sure, And we say it's on Piedmont
- 38:53Speaker 5: Road in the old Truest building. Give me geographical landmarks
- 38:57Speaker 5: of where this.
- 38:57Speaker 14: Is, so if everyone knows, I think everybody town's been
- 39:00Speaker 14: to Joe Phasios. Yes, it is pretty much Cady Corner
- 39:04Speaker 14: to Joe Phasios. If you walk out the door.
- 39:06Speaker 5: There's worse places to beat you exactly the worst place.
- 39:09Speaker 14: Well, we're hoping we can work out a deal with
- 39:11Speaker 14: with Phaseios to cater some Malfredo and they.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Will have a police force that's too fat to do
- 39:16Speaker 5: anything else. I'm kidding about that of course, but so
- 39:19Speaker 5: that's where it's located. Do we have any and I
- 39:21Speaker 5: know you're not an architect or anything like that, and
- 39:23Speaker 5: it was literally just to proved twelve hours ago. But
- 39:26Speaker 5: are we looking at any kind of a time frame
- 39:28Speaker 5: yet or is it too way too early to get
- 39:29Speaker 5: into that.
- 39:30Speaker 14: So we've been working with Sellings architects who's been terrific
- 39:33Speaker 14: in this process. We've been working hand in hand with
- 39:36Speaker 14: them every day. And from what we're understanding is once
- 39:41Speaker 14: everything is in place, once we have the keys to
- 39:43Speaker 14: the building, they're looking at about eighteen months now. That's
- 39:46Speaker 14: give or take a few minutes. Yeah, yeah, anything any
- 39:49Speaker 14: based remodeled the bathroom noses. Sometimes it takes let alone
- 39:52Speaker 14: the police headquarters.
- 39:53Speaker 15: Right.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Talk about the technology that this is going because you know, uh,
- 39:57Speaker 5: this is going to afford you, I would imagine, and
- 40:00Speaker 5: a whole lot more crime fighting skills and people's service
- 40:03Speaker 5: skills based on technology alone in a new location.
- 40:07Speaker 14: So I'll go back with seilings. They have built police
- 40:10Speaker 14: stations before, so they know exactly what they're doing, they
- 40:13Speaker 14: know the updated technology. So we're excited because this is
- 40:16Speaker 14: going to be the most state of the art, largest
- 40:19Speaker 14: police headquarters in the state of West Virginia. And that
- 40:22Speaker 14: is so important for us operationally because it'll help us
- 40:26Speaker 14: not only to build our officers morale and give them
- 40:30Speaker 14: a nice environment to work in, but it'll help us
- 40:32Speaker 14: fight crime and that's what we're here for.
- 40:35Speaker 5: Do you hear the mayor right? I think Aaron caught
- 40:37Speaker 5: up with their after city council meeting last night that
- 40:39Speaker 5: you folks had looked at about sixteen different locations around
- 40:42Speaker 5: the city, about fourteen fourteen fourteen okay, okay, fourteen different
- 40:46Speaker 5: locations and this one was chosen an easy and easy out.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Parking not an issue things of that nature.
- 40:51Speaker 14: It has everything we need so far, just from the
- 40:53Speaker 14: building itself on the shell of it has just about
- 40:56Speaker 14: everything we need. Of course, it was an old data
- 40:58Speaker 14: processing center, so we need some we need to do
- 41:01Speaker 14: some renovations inside to make it make it exactly what
- 41:04Speaker 14: we need. But uh, yeah, we're excited. We can't wait
- 41:08Speaker 14: to get our hands.
- 41:09Speaker 5: On before we let you go. I always like to
- 41:11Speaker 5: give people in your position an opportunity to talk about
- 41:14Speaker 5: things that are going on or what you're what you're
- 41:16Speaker 5: working on, what's new in the world of police policing
- 41:19Speaker 5: in Charleston. And on a serious note, last week was
- 41:22Speaker 5: was a pretty deadly week in Charleston. We had a
- 41:25Speaker 5: couple of murders last week. I know, emergency services were
- 41:27Speaker 5: out in forced on a couple of other things not
- 41:29Speaker 5: related to police. It never stops, does it. I mean,
- 41:32Speaker 5: as far as you know the things that are up
- 41:34Speaker 5: there right.
- 41:34Speaker 14: You know, it actually has been a pretty calm summer overall.
- 41:37Speaker 14: I don't want to drink that. Yeah, Unfortunately, last week
- 41:40Speaker 14: was just a double whammy for us. And but you know,
- 41:43Speaker 14: I have faith in our our detectives, have faith in
- 41:45Speaker 14: our officers that they're going to go down to chase
- 41:47Speaker 14: down those leads and figure it out pretty quick.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Jeeve Scott Dempsey, I appreciate you being here this morning,
- 41:53Speaker 5: taking time out of your schedule, and good luck with everything.

- 47:21Speaker 5: ninety nine. I want to talk a little traffic for
- 47:22Speaker 5: a moment. I drove in on I sixty four, as
- 47:25Speaker 5: I do every morning, around seven fifteen, seven thirty or so,
- 47:29Speaker 5: and I thought the workers might be done with what
- 47:31Speaker 5: they're doing on sixty four eastbound, and I guess it
- 47:34Speaker 5: also affects westbound too around Mantros because they weren't working yesterday,
- 47:38Speaker 5: but they are today. So just know that I thought
- 47:42Speaker 5: yesterday the project may be wrapped up. I drove through
- 47:45Speaker 5: there no issues in this morning. I was delayed about
- 47:47Speaker 5: twenty or thirty minutes or so. It is the left
- 47:50Speaker 5: lane though, at least as of when I came in
- 47:52Speaker 5: around seven thirty, the left lane eastbound that was closed.
- 47:56Speaker 5: And also I heard a traffic report just before I
- 47:58Speaker 5: went on the air. I had a chance to follow up.
- 47:59Speaker 5: There was another accident on sixty four, So just know
- 48:03Speaker 5: it's going to be slow could be slow going. And
- 48:05Speaker 5: you add a little bit of rain, and goodness knows
- 48:08Speaker 5: we need the rain right now, but a little bit
- 48:09Speaker 5: of rain that could add to it. As well, So
- 48:12Speaker 5: just know that if you're heading into the city today.
- 48:16Speaker 5: Some news headlines another guy, this one from Logan, Land
- 48:20Speaker 5: of my origin, has been indicted for conspiracy to injure
- 48:24Speaker 5: police and a few other charges, all related to January sixth.
- 48:27Speaker 5: His name is Kevin Moore. The legal ease is he's
- 48:31Speaker 5: charged with conspiring to injure an interfering with police through
- 48:37Speaker 5: other charges as well. The big charge though, is a felony.
- 48:40Speaker 5: He is charged, as I said, with other misdemeanors including
- 48:43Speaker 5: entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly
- 48:47Speaker 5: or disruptive conduct in a restricted area, disorderly conducting a
- 48:50Speaker 5: capitol building, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capital building. Now,
- 48:56Speaker 5: Kevin Moore turned himself in yesterday. All these charges are
- 49:00Speaker 5: of course based out of d C. Turned himself in
- 49:02Speaker 5: in Logan County, but the charges are based out of
- 49:05Speaker 5: d C. Now another guy with ties to that part
- 49:08Speaker 5: of the world, although he actually lived in Tennessee. His
- 49:11Speaker 5: name is Bart Gore. He's being charged for similar stuff
- 49:14Speaker 5: as well. At one point the second gentleman, Gore is
- 49:18Speaker 5: led to have said, quote, I say we go for
- 49:20Speaker 5: the head of the Snake, the FBI, the CIA, Obama, Clinton,
- 49:24Speaker 5: bar and anyone else, because I don't want to live
- 49:27Speaker 5: in a communist country. End quote. But wait, it gets better.
- 49:33Speaker 5: And one of the messages, Gore says, quote, I'd love
- 49:36Speaker 5: to be able to capture Obama or Hillary. I'd strip
- 49:39Speaker 5: them naked and beat them with a belt and a switch.
- 49:42Speaker 5: Then I'd rest, and then I would beat them some more.
- 49:46Speaker 5: He seems nice, He seems nice. He also asked for
- 49:50Speaker 5: Nancy Pelosi's head to be brought out on a stick.
- 49:54Speaker 5: Good reading. I read it this morning, if you can
- 49:57Speaker 5: get past all the misspellings and typos. So anyway, we'll
- 50:02Speaker 5: keep you updated on that situation as it. But they're
- 50:05Speaker 5: just peaceful, just peaceful protesters. And look some of them
- 50:08Speaker 5: that were there in January sixth. I know people that
- 50:10Speaker 5: were peaceful protesters. They protested for some reason or another.
- 50:12Speaker 5: I don't know why they turned around went home. No
- 50:15Speaker 5: issue with those people at all. But when you and again,
- 50:17Speaker 5: if you're going to make threats like that towards the
- 50:18Speaker 5: government geniuses, how about you don't do it in Facebook messenger?
- 50:21Speaker 5: How about you don't do it via text? Just same,
- 50:26Speaker 5: just saying moving on this problem with threats at schools.
- 50:32Speaker 5: The latest tally from law enforcement is a total of
- 50:35Speaker 5: one hundred and thirty eight threats were made last week
- 50:39Speaker 5: through yesterday. And this is all in West Virginia, of course,
- 50:42Speaker 5: sixty nine different schools and thirty three different counties. Now. Yesterday,
- 50:48Speaker 5: two more middle school students were charged here in Kanawha County.
- 50:51Speaker 5: Jeff Jenkins has a story posted about it at wv
- 50:54Speaker 5: metro news dot com. And again, as I mentioned earlier,
- 50:57Speaker 5: I want to make sure everybody knows about this. On
- 50:59Speaker 5: tomorrow's show. I'm gonna have been studio with me the
- 51:02Speaker 5: canaw County Prosecutor Deb Rusnick, but I'm also going to
- 51:05Speaker 5: have from Homeland Security Rob Cunningham. The two of them
- 51:08Speaker 5: are going to sit down with me together on tomorrow's show,
- 51:12Speaker 5: and we are going to get into talking about this
- 51:15Speaker 5: tomorrow and how do we rectify this situation? All right?
- 51:22Speaker 5: And you know, we had a text of the show
- 51:24Speaker 5: yesterday and I didn't get a chance to get to
- 51:26Speaker 5: it about this sort of thing, and it said that
- 51:29Speaker 5: it's not this texture said it's not a social media issue,
- 51:32Speaker 5: it's not a school issue, it's a parenting issue. I
- 51:36Speaker 5: would tend to agree with that. And if you heard
- 51:41Speaker 5: some of the comments to the press previously by Prosecutor Rosnick,
- 51:45Speaker 5: the threats don't have to be even credible, they don't
- 51:49Speaker 5: even have to be believable for these kids to be charged.
- 51:53Speaker 5: So mommy's daddies, grandparents, guardians, whoever is in charge of
- 51:57Speaker 5: the kids, you may want to sit down and tell
- 51:59Speaker 5: them if you do this, even in jest, you're gonna
- 52:02Speaker 5: get in a lot of trouble. Does it matter, Oh,
- 52:04Speaker 5: it was just a joke or whatever. You're going away,
- 52:07Speaker 5: and you're gonna go away for a long time. Bust
- 52:10Speaker 5: those butts, and if you have to take the parents
- 52:13Speaker 5: and grandparents too, Tex says regarding the January sixth, Good morning,
- 52:17Speaker 5: Derek Evans. I don't know, all right, we gotta go
- 52:22Speaker 5: to Dave alland showing five any line brought to you
