- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 2: Up
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to you.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Kicking off your day in the best way, it's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 2: and Joakim on
- 0:10Speaker 1: the shock circuit.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Good morning. Welcome to Friday. The weekend is officially here.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We are wrapping up your week with some details you
- 0:18Speaker 1: might have missed, especially involving Avengers Endgame. Yeah, exciting
- 0:22Speaker 2: stuff, yeah. Swedish House Mafia are gonna kick us off first.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Singapore's
- 0:28Speaker 2: number one hit
- 0:28Speaker 1: music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: If you watched Avengers Endgame, you would know there's one
- 0:35Speaker 1: line in that movie set by Robert Downey Junior's Tony Stark.
- 0:39Speaker 1: If you mess with time, time tends to mess back.
- 0:43Speaker 1: And knowing who he's playing in Avengers Doomsday, Dr. Doom,
- 0:47Speaker 1: or rumored to be Doctor Doom, but is it a variant?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Is it the real Dr. Doom? We don't know yet,
- 0:53Speaker 1: because Cillian Murphy also rumored to be in it, but
- 0:57Speaker 1: without confirmation.
- 0:58Speaker 1: But Avengers Endgame En Care, it will be out in cinemas,
- 1:02Speaker 1: I think September 25th for a rerun, but with 4
- 1:06Speaker 1: minutes of additional footage, which apparently is important to the
- 1:10Speaker 1: plot of Avengers
- 1:11Speaker 2: Doomsday. OK, so can I just watch the 4 minutes
- 1:14Speaker 2: separately or cannot? Must watch the whole movie. You know
- 1:17Speaker 1: what, I'm very sure it's.
- 1:20Speaker 1: the lack of security in some movie cinemas, people will
- 1:24Speaker 1: record it and put it up on TikTok and on Instagram.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But listen,
- 1:26Speaker 2: like I actually don't mind rewatching it because you know me,
- 1:31Speaker 2: I forget things quite easily in terms of like movie
- 1:35Speaker 2: plots and all that. Like, I will have to rewatch
- 1:37Speaker 2: it again, especially because the universe is so complex. And
- 1:41Speaker 2: you want to know what's going on.
- 1:42Speaker 2: When the new ones drop.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So the trailer just dropped for Avengers Endgame Encore, and
- 1:47Speaker 1: a lot of people are saying this, the coloring in
- 1:50Speaker 1: Avengers Endgame Encore, it's a lot better than what it
- 1:54Speaker 1: was in 2019, but is this because of better tech,
- 1:57Speaker 1: or is there something else at
- 1:58Speaker 1: play here?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Don't know. Yeah, interesting to see, but um, I think
- 2:02Speaker 2: this whole topic of uh differing.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Different color treatments in movies have been brought up before.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I think, um, one of the more recent ones, do
- 2:11Speaker 2: you remember Moana? So they had a second part, right,
- 2:14Speaker 2: if I'm not wrong, uh, and the coloring was a
- 2:18Speaker 2: lot more muted in part two, to which people didn't
- 2:20Speaker 2: quite enjoy that. I saw the online sentiment, they were
- 2:24Speaker 2: saying like, where are the colors? Where's the, where's the
- 2:26Speaker 2: vibrant splashes of like the ocean and the sky and
- 2:29Speaker 2: like what happened to the coloring?
- 2:31Speaker 2: So I don't know whether they responded. I'm not sure.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Was there a reason for it? Let's find
- 2:34Speaker 1: out. Matrix. But when it's real life, it's
- 2:46Speaker 2: colors I don't know.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I like I said, intentional or is it just, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 2: a tech tech sort of situation? It's officially Friday, last
- 2:55Speaker 2: few days of August before you hit the, I, I
- 2:58Speaker 2: think official Q4 of your school year and also your
- 3:02Speaker 2: September holidays and whatever other exams coming up after that.
- 3:05Speaker 2: So we want you to be in good spirits and
- 3:07Speaker 2: good energy this morning.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Can I give you a small nugget of info here
- 3:13Speaker 1: in the world?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yes,
- 3:14Speaker 1: 28th of August, it's actually the late Michael Jackson's birthday.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh, he's, what is he? Is he? Is it Virgo
- 3:24Speaker 2: season already?
- 3:26Speaker 2: I'm not the best at it, even though I always
- 3:28Speaker 2: refer to horoscopes.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so if Michael Jackson was still alive, if my
- 3:33Speaker 1: calculations are correct, he would be 67.
- 3:38Speaker 2: No way. Hey man, I mean, with all the conspiracy
- 3:43Speaker 2: theories out there, you never know.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Anyway, we want to open up phone lines right now. 669-11987.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Request for a song, give a shout out to your
- 3:52Speaker 2: friends and maybe even if you graduated from your school already,
- 3:55Speaker 2: why not give them a shout out?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Or you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. I stand corrected.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Michael Jackson will be 68. He was 67 last year.
- 4:05Speaker 1: There you go.
- 4:06Speaker 2: He would have been still a legend if he were around. Exactly, yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Heading to the phone lines now, let's see who we have. Hello.
- 4:13Speaker 2: This is Rebecca and Nicholas. Hello, good morning, Rebecca and Nicholas.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Which school are you headed off to? Tao.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Taoan School and what's life like over there for you?
- 4:24Speaker 2: It's really fun. We have like fun activities like a
- 4:28Speaker 2: Harry Potter escape room last year.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So cool. So what do you do in this escape room?
- 4:34Speaker 2: Like what, what did you see? We had to like
- 4:36Speaker 2: answer questions to go from part of the room to
- 4:40Speaker 2: the other room, and in the end we will get
- 4:42Speaker 2: a prize.
- 4:43Speaker 1: OK, can I ask you a Harry Potter question? OK, OK,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'll try. What was Harry Potter's first Quidditch broomstick called?
- 4:53Speaker 1: Nimbus 2000.
- 4:55Speaker 1: 2000.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I love that you're actually correct. You passed the trivia test,
- 5:00Speaker 2: but we don't exactly have a price for you this morning, unfortunately.
- 5:03Speaker 2: But what we can do is to get you a song.
- 5:06Speaker 2: What song can we get you today, sweeties? Can we
- 5:08Speaker 2: have the fate of? Sure, that's coming up just for you.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Is it going out to anyone? Uh, everyone.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Having
- 5:15Speaker 2: PSLE
- 5:16Speaker 1: this year.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Alright. All the best to you as well if you're
- 5:19Speaker 1: doing PSLE, OK?
- 5:21Speaker 2: And have a great weekend, OK? Thank you. Bye bye.
- 5:25Speaker 2: So you were saying something about what a non-venomous snake
- 5:28Speaker 2: earlier on. Where was it spotted?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Someone's a was spotted over there. No,
- 5:33Speaker 2: that one venomous. Some might be venomous.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Wanna say hello to our friends over at Mandai Wildlife Reserve.
- 5:42Speaker 1: So you would think when you see a non-venomous snake
- 5:46Speaker 1: outside the enclosures of anywhere in Mandai Wildlife Reserve, you
- 5:50Speaker 1: might think, hey, that snake escaped.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Oh no.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Escape from the enclosure. That
- 5:55Speaker 1: was the TikTok video that was circulating
- 5:57Speaker 2: online. I mean, I need to know how this snake
- 5:59Speaker 2: look like. Was it very scary looking? So
- 6:01Speaker 1: it's called a painted bronze back. You can Google a
- 6:05Speaker 1: picture of it.
- 6:06Speaker 2: So
- 6:06Speaker 1: it's quite small, but it's very long. Are you, are
- 6:09Speaker 1: you googling it right now? OK, so the TikTok video
- 6:12Speaker 1: that caught everyone's attention was one that was circulating with
- 6:16Speaker 1: the caption Escape snake mark in blue.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And you can see the Mandai Wildlife Reserve staff wearing gloves,
- 6:22Speaker 1: making sure they're safe and they gently and calmly removed
- 6:26Speaker 1: the painted bronze back. OK,
- 6:28Speaker 2: um, you, you're right, it's quite small, but it's quite
- 6:31Speaker 2: beautiful actually. So it does look like a, like a
- 6:35Speaker 2: fancy snake. So
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's actually.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That's native to Singapore, but it's not part of the
- 6:40Speaker 1: animal population, so somehow I think this snake found its
- 6:43Speaker 1: way there and it was right next to an enclosure,
- 6:46Speaker 1: glass animal enclosure. So I wonder whether was it the
- 6:49Speaker 1: reptile kingdom catching up with some friends a
- 6:52Speaker 2: gossip session, you know.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Or like, hey, the prodigal son returned.
- 6:59Speaker 1: No,
- 7:00Speaker 1: no, no, it wasn't part of the population, so I
- 7:02Speaker 1: don't think there's prodigal
- 7:02Speaker 2: son. It's just looking for some friends. It just wants
- 7:06Speaker 2: to belong.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Like maybe the python. What's what's new in
- 7:09Speaker 2: the outside
- 7:10Speaker 1: world?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Tell me what's new.
- 7:13Speaker 2: In the
- 7:15Speaker 2: outside
- 7:15Speaker 1: world. Yeah, so I think it's been removed in a
- 7:18Speaker 1: very safe manner.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Oh, we should have given it a name. Painted
- 7:21Speaker 1: bronze. What would you call a snake?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Like a, like a snakington or
- 7:26Speaker 1: wow.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Don't ever let me name anything, OK. Husband right here
- 7:31Speaker 2: on 987 Singapore's number one hit music station. I think
- 7:34Speaker 2: she was on some, um, uh, talk show. I can't
- 7:38Speaker 2: remember who it was, um, but it must be one
- 7:40Speaker 2: of the usual suspects, late night show and all that.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Um, and she was just remarking that she still hasn't
- 7:46Speaker 2: found her husband, to which I'm like, we're single, come
- 7:49Speaker 1: here. But you know what, I think next year she
- 7:52Speaker 1: might find herself a Grammy or two. She might, she
- 7:55Speaker 1: might for her album This Music May Contain. Hope I
- 7:57Speaker 1: have it on vinyl. What a record. What an album.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Well done, Rick.
- 8:01Speaker 2: If
- 8:01Speaker 2: you actually listen to the songs in the way that
- 8:05Speaker 2: it's meant to be listened to.
- 8:06Speaker 2: you know, in order, it will make so much sense
- 8:09Speaker 2: and I love it
- 8:10Speaker 2: so much.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And you know you're someone special, something special if Hans
- 8:14Speaker 1: Zimmer himself agrees to a collab
- 8:17Speaker 2: with you with you, yeah, exactly. Um, I think plenty
- 8:20Speaker 2: of music producers and people look at Ray, powers that
- 8:23Speaker 2: be look at Ray, and they're like, she's just, she's
- 8:26Speaker 2: a reincarnation of many of the great musicians.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Singers from the past, you
- 8:30Speaker 1: know, that's it. If you love Hans Zimmer, by the way,
- 8:32Speaker 1: he's coming to Singapore October 7th. Hey, maybe he'll bring Ray.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I'm kidding.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You never know, but I'm going. I, I love all
- 8:38Speaker 1: the soundtracks he's done for movies and especially games. If
- 8:42Speaker 1: you played Modern Warfare 2 in the late 2000s, that
- 8:45Speaker 1: was one of the amazing soundtracks for a game ever.
- 8:48Speaker 1: But speaking of concerts, Sonia, I'm very upset.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And I, and I don't say this in an entitled manner,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but I feel if we bought tickets for this particular concert,
- 9:00Speaker 1: we have every right to be upset.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I, I think I know what you're talking about. Yes,
- 9:05Speaker 2: it was all everyone was talking about yesterday.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Especially if we got tickets. We'll tell you more in
- 9:10Speaker 2: just a little bit. This does affect us here in
- 9:12Speaker 2: Singapore when it comes to this particular artist. I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 2: how long has it been since his Super Bowl performance already?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Has it been half a year?
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much half a year, 6 months since then, yeah. So, hey, man,
- 9:26Speaker 2: like he's gone on to do some great things and
- 9:28Speaker 2: I think that was, that was the start of like
- 9:31Speaker 2: a new chapter for him, you know.
- 9:32Speaker 1: If I'm not wrong, I saw a video of Bad
- 9:34Speaker 1: Bunny very impressed with the Australian for singing this song
- 9:38Speaker 1: back to him for a country that doesn't really speak Spanish.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I
- 9:43Speaker 2: was gonna say.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Like in the right intonations and everything. Not too bad,
- 9:49Speaker 2: but you're just making noise at this point. OK.
- 9:53Speaker 1: An artist that I love personally because his song lyrics
- 9:56Speaker 1: relate a lot to what I was going through in
- 9:58Speaker 1: a very dark time, maybe say in the early 2010s
- 10:02Speaker 1: and all that. Post Malone.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you know him?
- 10:08Speaker 2: And more recently, I guess, his newer works.
- 10:14Speaker 1: This song is
- 10:14Speaker 2: my personal favorite from him,
- 10:16Speaker 2: yeah, OK,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but the thing is we were all excited and looking
- 10:20Speaker 1: forward to the 25th of September here in Singapore because
- 10:23Speaker 1: it was announced that he was coming back for a
- 10:24Speaker 1: stand-alone show as compared to what he did for Formula One,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I think, 3 years ago now, much shorter set, yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: but for some strange reason, not just in Singapore, but
- 10:35Speaker 1: I think almost all of his Asia shows
- 10:38Speaker 2: canceled.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Did they say it's postponed or canceled.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 10:43Speaker 2: They didn't actually confirm it, right? It was Malone.
- 10:47Speaker 1: If you're
- 10:47Speaker 1: tuned in to our station by some miracle,
- 10:50Speaker 2: people are tuned in,
- 10:51Speaker 1: fire your entire PR team. That is not how you
- 10:53Speaker 1: do it. I, I rather Post Malone himself come out
- 10:56Speaker 1: with a statement on why he's canceling or postponing all
- 10:59Speaker 1: the shows in Asia, and at least let your fans
- 11:02Speaker 1: and people who are looking forward to the concert know.
- 11:04Speaker 1: WhatsApp because people were flying to Taiwan,
- 11:08Speaker 2: Korea.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Some were flying to Singapore to watch him perform and
- 11:12Speaker 1: now how to refund their flight tickets cannot
- 11:13Speaker 2: work. And, and the thing is, it wasn't an official
- 11:16Speaker 2: statement even, like it's just that I guess the news
- 11:19Speaker 2: channels picked up enough of the noise to be like, OK,
- 11:22Speaker 2: we can run this story, which then makes you wonder
- 11:25Speaker 2: like this might lean to be more true than it
- 11:28Speaker 2: is a rumor, right?
- 11:29Speaker 1: All his account posts now and even fan accounts, people
- 11:34Speaker 1: are flooding it saying, tell us why you canceled it.
- 11:37Speaker 1: People are leaving comments in Bahasa Indo, Bahasa, Malayu, and
- 11:41Speaker 1: even Korean as well. So yeah, very soon I'm very
- 11:44Speaker 1: sure because they can't ignore the noise anymore. We'll see
- 11:47Speaker 1: a post from Post Malone written by his PR agent
- 11:49Speaker 1: saying to all my fans in Asia, I'm so sorry,
- 11:53Speaker 1: you know, that kind of thing.
- 11:55Speaker 2: But that's the thing, it's with any piece of bad news, right?
- 11:58Speaker 2: You want to be the person to break it before
- 12:01Speaker 2: word gets around. Don't you think? Like it's, this has
- 12:04Speaker 2: got to do with like breakups. It's got to do
- 12:06Speaker 2: with like if you betrayed someone or you did someone wrong,
- 12:09Speaker 2: you want to be the one to say it first.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So the one, you know, it's postponed or canceled yesterday
- 12:14Speaker 1: Ticketmaster Singapore, they sent me the SMS saying that I'll
- 12:17Speaker 1: get the payment for the refunded to my credit card.
- 12:21Speaker 2: This is, yeah, I know it can be frustrating. It
- 12:23Speaker 2: can be very frustrating.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Concert, but, you know, take this one on the chin
- 12:28Speaker 1: and move on with life.
- 12:29Speaker 2: But you know who I feel the most bad for
- 12:32Speaker 2: the people that have to deal with the logistics of it,
- 12:34Speaker 2: like people from Ticketmaster, for example, or like the organization.
- 12:37Speaker 2: That have to deal with the backlash in those countries.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Again, it's not Ticketmaster's
- 12:42Speaker 1: fault
- 12:42Speaker 2: for this one, it's not. Yeah, it's the
- 12:44Speaker 1: Post Malone himself who has to come out and tell
- 12:46Speaker 1: us why. I think he owes it to
- 12:48Speaker 1: us.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Post Malone.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Have you seen the best meme now?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Postpone Malone. That was thanks to Louisa I guess. Sorry joking,
- 13:00Speaker 1: sorry.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, I'm sure you've had to buy
- 13:05Speaker 2: a gift or two last time for some exes or something.
- 13:08Speaker 2: You've never bought anything, Chanel, OK, not a Chanel. I mean,
- 13:12Speaker 2: what do
- 13:12Speaker 1: I like some scion or a prince or
- 13:15Speaker 1: what? No
- 13:16Speaker 2: lah, it can be small leather goods or what, right?
- 13:18Speaker 2: It's not that bad compared to like a bag.
- 13:21Speaker 1: OK, can you use the CDC vouchers?
- 13:23Speaker 2: Cannot. Maybe this is what, see, I need to teach
- 13:25Speaker 2: you a thing or two. Maybe just get a small
- 13:27Speaker 2: little gift. It's, you know, not that expensive, OK, OK,
- 13:30Speaker 2: for like birthday or something. She'll really
- 13:32Speaker 1: appreciate it in
- 13:32Speaker 1: the future to a girl in my
- 13:34Speaker 1: life. Yeah, OK,
- 13:35Speaker 2: yes, you please look for me for advice. OK, can
- 13:38Speaker 2: you not
- 13:39Speaker 1: make me sound so
- 13:39Speaker 1: uncool?
- 13:41Speaker 2: Do you want me to actually respond to that? OK,
- 13:43Speaker 1: on. Let's go. Coming
- 13:44Speaker 2: up in just a few minutes now.
- 13:47Speaker 2: He's laughing because he knows,
- 13:49Speaker 1: OK. Shut up.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Coming up in just a bit, um, I think this
- 13:53Speaker 2: is a story that would almost scare us if we
- 13:58Speaker 2: are like, uh, dog owners that are not exactly fans
- 14:02Speaker 2: of letting our dogs maybe socialize with other dogs, for example, OK?
- 14:06Speaker 2: And I think when my mom and my dad like
- 14:08Speaker 2: got to adopt Maxi, it's, it's not just about training
- 14:12Speaker 2: the dog, it's about also training the human, if you
- 14:15Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Whenever I run at Bishan Park and I see the
- 14:19Speaker 1: dog area, right, that's where dogs are off the leash.
- 14:22Speaker 1: You
- 14:22Speaker 2: can run around it's an enclosed area.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but what's kind of giving me anxiety is like, hey,
- 14:27Speaker 1: will this dog attack another dog? Will this dog get
- 14:30Speaker 1: along or will it start barking and causing a scene?
- 14:32Speaker 2: So it has, I mean, for, for, for Maxi, our dog,
- 14:36Speaker 2: she is not the most sociable when it comes to
- 14:38Speaker 2: other dogs for some reason. I know how she feels.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And she doesn't like male dogs. I mean, it might
- 14:44Speaker 2: be some trauma or PTSD from the past because she
- 14:47Speaker 2: was a breeding dog, right? So maybe that's got to
- 14:50Speaker 2: do with that, but she's not the friendliest when it
- 14:52Speaker 2: comes to, she's just scared and she shrinks away. She
- 14:54Speaker 2: can sense and see the dog like a mile away,
- 14:56Speaker 2: you know. Sometimes she will cause a scene like when
- 14:58Speaker 2: we walk to the restaurant, right? We're at the, we're
- 15:00Speaker 2: at the entrance of the restaurant. We haven't even sat
- 15:02Speaker 2: down yet, but she refuses to walk to like the
- 15:06Speaker 2: table that we're assigned to. Then we're wondering like why,
- 15:08Speaker 2: like what's there, you know, kind of thing.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Then true enough when we just lift her up and
- 15:12Speaker 2: walked there, we see like a big dog somewhere and
- 15:15Speaker 2: she I think she can sense it or smell it
- 15:16Speaker 2: or something. Anyway, speaking of big dogs, I think I
- 15:19Speaker 2: would be pretty scared if this happened to me too,
- 15:21Speaker 2: and this is a reminder to always make sure that
- 15:24Speaker 2: you're a responsible pet owner. Thanks for joining us here
- 15:27Speaker 2: this morning. OK, so, um, I was at an event recently,
- 15:31Speaker 2: not too long ago, and this kind of, this kind
- 15:34Speaker 2: of caught my attention, OK, and it got me thinking
- 15:37Speaker 2: as well, like,
- 15:38Speaker 2: Did I ever used to be like that and have
- 15:40Speaker 2: I changed along the years, over the years? OK. So
- 15:45Speaker 2: we've attended events together before, I recall. Sometimes you would
- 15:51Speaker 2: leave before or I would leave before you. I mean,
- 15:54Speaker 2: who usually leaves first?
- 15:56Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't do an Irish goodbye to you. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 2: you will say bye.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'll always let you know that I'm going first, but
- 16:01Speaker 1: the rest are no need lah. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: just
- 16:03Speaker 2: fade out. No, it's true, it's true. Over the, over
- 16:06Speaker 2: the course of time, you just realize it's fine, right? Um, and,
- 16:10Speaker 2: and I had an interaction with um an industry friend.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And I think this person was maybe just very overwhelmed
- 16:17Speaker 2: by the amount of people that were around, you know,
- 16:19Speaker 2: and stuff, and uh this person came to me and
- 16:23Speaker 2: said like, hey, I'm I'm not that close to to
- 16:25Speaker 2: this industry friend, but
- 16:26Speaker 2: This person was like, Hey, um, did you see so
- 16:28Speaker 2: and so, or did you see this group of people?
- 16:30Speaker 2: And I said, Oh, I'm not sure. I think they
- 16:32Speaker 2: might have, they might have left. Like one of them
- 16:34Speaker 2: said that she needed to go, so they might have left.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And then this person looked quite distraught. She was like,
- 16:39Speaker 2: Oh man, like all my friends left already. Like, what
- 16:41Speaker 2: am I going to do? Then I just laughed. I chuckled.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I said, you can come like hang out with us
- 16:45Speaker 2: if you want. And then one of our other friends said, Yeah,
- 16:48Speaker 2: we're not too bad of a second option. You can
- 16:51Speaker 2: hang out with us. Then we just laughed about it,
- 16:52Speaker 2: you know, so we said, Yeah, you're welcome to stay.
- 16:55Speaker 2: But I think this person really wanted to, to go off, right,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and in a way kept pressuring me to leave as
- 17:02Speaker 2: well because this person wanted to um have some company
- 17:07Speaker 2: to walk off, to walk down.
- 17:09Speaker 1: They don't want
- 17:10Speaker 2: to leave alone, I think so. I think so, yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Was it a case of
- 17:13Speaker 1: too early or I don't wanna be walking
- 17:17Speaker 1: out,
- 17:17Speaker 2: I have no idea. So that's why I was trying,
- 17:19Speaker 2: I was trying to understand it.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I don't know whether it's an only child thing, but
- 17:22Speaker 2: I'm very perfectly fine walking in by myself and walking
- 17:25Speaker 2: out alone, you see. So I don't really, I'm not
- 17:28Speaker 2: sure whether this is an only child thing. Let's unpack
- 17:31Speaker 2: this in a while. Are, are you the kind of
- 17:34Speaker 2: person that's OK to say
- 17:36Speaker 2: Arrive at a party, a wedding, and events, and just
- 17:39Speaker 2: walk in yourself or leave yourself, or do you feel like, hey,
- 17:43Speaker 2: I text my friend first, like, hey, meet me downstairs
- 17:45Speaker 2: at the lift, and we go out together?
- 17:46Speaker 1: No, no, I'll walk in. I'm OK because I'm the party.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I'm the wedding.
- 17:52Speaker 2: The silence is deafening. And I'm about to open up
- 17:55Speaker 2: phone lines and WhatsApp channels right now. 669-11987 or 90050987.
- 18:02Speaker 2: In exchange for your stories and your experiences or your opinions,
- 18:06Speaker 2: you're walking away with a dining experience at Mosila for
- 18:08Speaker 2: $2 worth $256. This is at the beautiful Pan Pacific
- 18:14Speaker 2: Orchard Hotel.
- 18:15Speaker 1: It's very hard
- 18:15Speaker 1: to miss. I think once you're along the Orchard Road
- 18:18Speaker 1: or stretch, if you look to your left, it's right
- 18:20Speaker 1: there.
- 18:21Speaker 2: You'll see it. Yeah, Claymore and that whole stretch, right? Yes,
- 18:24Speaker 2: you will see it. And I think they've won some
- 18:26Speaker 2: architectural awards before, if I'm not wrong, or like design awards.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I'll be
- 18:29Speaker 1: very surprised if they haven't yet. They
- 18:31Speaker 2: did.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I did, yeah, I remember. Anyway, um, that's your reward,
- 18:35Speaker 2: but what we want to open up phone lines for
- 18:37Speaker 2: today is, are you personally OK with, for example, walking
- 18:42Speaker 2: into a work function or a social function or family
- 18:45Speaker 2: gathering or something by yourself? Or are you the kind
- 18:49Speaker 2: that you need to text your trusted person and say like, hey,
- 18:52Speaker 2: can you meet me downstairs? We go out together.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Yeah, the, the amount of times I had to go
- 18:56Speaker 1: into the club on my own because all my friends late,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I'm not gonna
- 18:59Speaker 1: wait outside
- 19:00Speaker 2: that's a very good.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Good example. I realized this when it comes to entering
- 19:04Speaker 2: a club, right, people always tend to want to wait
- 19:07Speaker 2: to get like wait for everyone to arrive. Then you
- 19:10Speaker 2: go in together, right? And I don't know whether it's
- 19:12Speaker 2: also because it's logistically easier or you just don't want
- 19:16Speaker 2: to walk in by yourself. Or
- 19:18Speaker 1: there is that visual of baddies just
- 19:21Speaker 1: show up.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly. So I think it could be that as
- 19:24Speaker 2: well as compared
- 19:25Speaker 1: to who's this random 38 year old man walking in Gomez.
- 19:29Speaker 1: What's he doing here?
- 19:31Speaker 1: Look, if you see me alone in the club, it's
- 19:33Speaker 1: because my friends are late and I want to enjoy aircon.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's very hot outside, OK? Facts,
- 19:37Speaker 2: facts. Yeah, so whatever your reason is, let us know. 669-11987.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Are you the kind that's totally OK walking into the
- 19:45Speaker 2: club or a function or a work gathering by yourself,
- 19:48Speaker 2: or do you need to link up with a friend first, preferably,
- 19:51Speaker 2: and then you guys walk into.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Together, but I have my moments. I must say for
- 19:55Speaker 1: some media events, right, where you know when you walk
- 19:58Speaker 1: in they'll start to show you around and give you
- 20:00Speaker 1: a tour. I don't need those. Like I can see
- 20:02Speaker 1: for myself, but, but I know must do. That's why
- 20:06Speaker 1: if I'm showing up with Sonia, I'll wait for her,
- 20:09Speaker 1: and go in with her, and she will thank the
- 20:10Speaker 1: entire small talk for
- 20:11Speaker 1: me.
- 20:11Speaker 2: No wonder you wait for me. I'm your emotional support, Chihuahua.
- 20:17Speaker 1: These kind of events that we are not hosting. Oh
- 20:20Speaker 1: my
- 20:20Speaker 2: God, no wonder that makes so much sense now. Give
- 20:23Speaker 2: us a call 669-11987. I mean, I wonder whether this
- 20:26Speaker 2: has got to do with being introverted or extroverted. I
- 20:29Speaker 2: don't know. Maybe, maybe a combination of things, right? Are
- 20:32Speaker 2: you OK rocking up to an event or a party
- 20:35Speaker 2: or the club or something by yourself, or do you
- 20:39Speaker 2: feel better if you link up with a friend first,
- 20:42Speaker 2: then you walk in together?
- 20:43Speaker 2: Or you leave together. Let us know, 669-11987. If you
- 20:47Speaker 2: have any funny stories, please share with us. If you
- 20:49Speaker 2: want to share about someone else, that's fine as well.
- 20:51Speaker 2: In exchange, a dining experience for two at Marsila at
- 20:54Speaker 2: Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel. OK, so we're talking about whether
- 20:57Speaker 2: or not when you go for maybe a function or
- 21:01Speaker 2: um going clubbing or a party or events or something,
- 21:04Speaker 2: anything at all. Are you completely comfortable walking in and
- 21:08Speaker 2: out by yourself?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Or are you the kind of person that, hey, text
- 21:11Speaker 2: my friend first, want to meet at the lift, then
- 21:13Speaker 2: we go up together, you
- 21:14Speaker 1: know, for example, if we have a clubbing night and
- 21:17Speaker 1: my friends and I agree to meet at 11, I'll
- 21:19Speaker 1: be there at 10:50
- 21:21Speaker 1: because I'm
- 21:22Speaker 2: always
- 21:22Speaker 1: early
- 21:22Speaker 2: and everyone arrives at 11:30. Exactly.
- 21:25Speaker 1: So at 11 when no one's there, I'll be like, Guys,
- 21:27Speaker 1: I go in first. Then I have my friends saying, Hey,
- 21:30Speaker 1: wait for us lah, don't go in first. You know
- 21:33Speaker 1: how hot and humid.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Is it outside? Hello, I'm wearing a
- 21:36Speaker 2: shirt
- 21:36Speaker 1: and pants and all that,
- 21:37Speaker 2: unless you're waiting outside marquee's aircon. yeah, but I mean
- 21:41Speaker 2: it's in.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I want to go in and just get my drink
- 21:45Speaker 1: and stay stand in one corner until my friends show up, OK,
- 21:48Speaker 1: or at least, you know what, I go in and
- 21:49Speaker 1: I scout out the place and I recky everything, find
- 21:51Speaker 1: the best spots to stand, the best spot, OK, for example,
- 21:55Speaker 1: animals coming to Singapore, right? It's going to be very
- 21:57Speaker 1: crowded 10th of October if we have.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Clubbing plans, I will go early to find a good
- 22:02Speaker 1: spot to stand and chop that spot for my friends
- 22:04Speaker 1: to come and
- 22:05Speaker 1: show up.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Well, we are so opposite. It's like the shows. Yes,
- 22:09Speaker 2: I'm the friend that shows up, and I'll just go
- 22:11Speaker 2: with the flow. I'm like, OK lah, just find some
- 22:13Speaker 2: empty spot. I mean, I don't need to chop the
- 22:15Speaker 2: spot or anything. Just, you know, weave in and find
- 22:16Speaker 2: a place that I'm comfortable with because
- 22:18Speaker 1: you
- 22:18Speaker 1: want to see the DJ and see the graphics and
- 22:19Speaker 1: all that,
- 22:20Speaker 2: but that's a situation. Yes, yeah. So, um, we're heading
- 22:23Speaker 2: to our messages first in any sort of situation.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It doesn't necessarily mean it's coming. It could be anything
- 22:27Speaker 2: at all, a party or a work gathering. Do you
- 22:30Speaker 2: need to link up with a friend first and walk
- 22:32Speaker 2: in together, walk out together, or are you OK showing
- 22:36Speaker 2: up and leaving
- 22:36Speaker 2: yourself?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Jay texting us on WhatsApp saying, Morning Sojo. I'm not
- 22:40Speaker 1: the only child, but I'm, but I literally grew up
- 22:42Speaker 1: being alone. I have no issue going or living anywhere alone.
- 22:45Speaker 1: It's probably an introvert thing. I even go to concerts
- 22:48Speaker 1: alone and enjoy it. Like,
- 22:50Speaker 2: yeah. Hey, you guys should link up.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I mean, look, I, I am mostly that kind of
- 22:54Speaker 2: person too. Like I can eat by myself or like
- 22:56Speaker 2: go in and out by myself, but my preference when
- 23:00Speaker 2: it comes to traveling and concerts is to experience it
- 23:03Speaker 2: with someone because I'm the kind that's very verbal. Like
- 23:06Speaker 2: I need to talk about the experience or live
- 23:08Speaker 1: commentary. Yeah, exactly. I want to say good morning to
- 23:10Speaker 1: John who says, I'm absolutely fine to walk into restaurants, bars,
- 23:14Speaker 1: or conventions first and wait for the rest as it's
- 23:17Speaker 1: too hot outside. Might as well get some.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Aircon and a drink while waiting unless the venues dictate
- 23:22Speaker 1: that all must be present before going in like some restaurants,
- 23:26Speaker 2: for example, yes, you're not wrong. Oh, it feels like
- 23:29Speaker 2: I'm talking to my partner when I read that message.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Jeremy, Jeremy, is it?
- 23:33Speaker 2: No, you me sorry, as in this reminded me of you.
- 23:37Speaker 1: What? Sorry, you said, I just thought straight away. Keep
- 23:42Speaker 1: the calls coming in at 669-11987 or you can WhatsApp
- 23:46Speaker 1: us at 90050987. Again, what awaits today's winner, a very
- 23:52Speaker 1: nice dining experience to Marcela worth $256.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Oh, so lovely. Keep your calls coming through once again.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Phone lines are open. We are back to more messages
- 24:02Speaker 2: here today.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Are you the kind of person that will need to
- 24:05Speaker 2: link up with someone, a friend or a trusted person
- 24:08Speaker 2: or colleague before you walk into a party or an
- 24:11Speaker 2: event or function, or are you OK with just walking
- 24:14Speaker 2: in and out by yourself?
- 24:16Speaker 1: Go read a text from Derek.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Why do I sense that it's exactly what you relate to?
- 24:22Speaker 1: You are absolutely right.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Really?
- 24:25Speaker 1: This sounds like it have come from me. Hello guys,
- 24:28Speaker 1: for me, I
- 24:29Speaker 1: I actually love going to social events or clubs alone first,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and I treat it like reconnaissance. Sometimes I'm the scout.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Go in first, survey the crowd, spot my friend's type,
- 24:39Speaker 1: chit chat a bit, then feed him the intel so
- 24:41Speaker 1: he knows how to enter. Other times I'm the one
- 24:44Speaker 1: who needs help, and he will stay on standby until
- 24:46Speaker 1: I text wingman required, then swoop in. I recently got
- 24:50Speaker 1: together with someone though, and I'm planning to confess this
- 24:52Speaker 1: whole system to her over dinner this weekend.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Figured if we're going to progress better, no funny secrets
- 24:59Speaker 1: between us. Hopefully she finds it funny and not alarming.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Fingers
- 25:02Speaker 2: crossed. Oh man, dude, I'm so invested
- 25:05Speaker 1: now. OK lah, I wouldn't use it for a girl
- 25:07Speaker 1: that I want to meet, but I'll use it for
- 25:09Speaker 1: the crowd. Like I'll, I'll tell my friends, hey, who's here,
- 25:12Speaker 1: who's there, you know, be careful, this part is very
- 25:14Speaker 1: crowded or the section very crowded.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Watch your step. This is just a personality thing, is it?
- 25:19Speaker 2: Because I'm very like, I can just go in blind,
- 25:22Speaker 2: like I don't know anything. I just show up.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I know. I think this
- 25:32Speaker 2: says a lot about people's personalities. OK, so you, you are,
- 25:38Speaker 2: you overthink sometimes. I'm just trying to be nice.
- 25:43Speaker 2: And I think, OK, for you, you are the sort
- 25:47Speaker 2: that if I'm reading this writer, you need to be
- 25:50Speaker 2: prepared for everything. So for example, even if it's traveling,
- 25:54Speaker 2: if it's a date or something, maybe you're bringing your
- 25:57Speaker 2: mom out, you need to plan the day and you
- 26:00Speaker 2: need to know what's going to happen next. That is
- 26:02Speaker 2: your character personality.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yes,
- 26:05Speaker 2: for me, I don't need to know what happens next.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Just surprised me.
- 26:09Speaker 1: can learn from each other. One more coming in from Marilyn. Hello, Marilyn. Morning, Sojo.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I'm totally comfortable with walking into an event by myself
- 26:17Speaker 1: and leaving by myself. I don't really understand people that
- 26:21Speaker 1: can't do it, like even going to the toilet. It's
- 26:23Speaker 1: usually the girls that has this shyness and need company.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Sometimes accompany my friends too much too I already know
- 26:29Speaker 1: where's the toilet in any mall.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Can I say this, this, this was a bit of
- 26:34Speaker 1: a culture shock thing for me in secondary school.
- 26:37Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 26:37Speaker 1: Because I was from a, from a boys' school, right,
- 26:40Speaker 1: going into a mixed school, and then whenever it's toilet break,
- 26:42Speaker 1: you'll see the girls going to check, can we go
- 26:44Speaker 1: to toilet? I was like, Boy, you all must go together.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Go go alone lah. And this is where the phrase,
- 26:50Speaker 1: ah yeah, I don't know one
- 26:53Speaker 2: 100%, 100%.
- 26:55Speaker 2: No, but, um, the funny thing is sometimes for my
- 26:58Speaker 2: friends and I, when we're out having lunch and stuff,
- 27:01Speaker 2: I will excuse myself to the toilet, right, and when
- 27:04Speaker 2: I immediately go like, hey guys, like I'm just gonna
- 27:06Speaker 2: go to the restroom first, they will all look at
- 27:08Speaker 2: me with the all-knowing face. They were like, 2,
- 27:11Speaker 1: right?
- 27:14Speaker 2: Because I never asked anyone. There we go. Like, anyone
- 27:16Speaker 2: want to go to toilet? Anyone want to go? No,
- 27:18Speaker 2: we never ask.
- 27:19Speaker 1: sharing.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Hey, no one asked, but you know this show has
- 27:24Speaker 2: become an extension of our personality.
- 27:27Speaker 2: So you're welcome. Um, now talking about whether or not
- 27:30Speaker 2: you're the kind of person that is completely comfortable walking
- 27:33Speaker 2: in and out of a social gathering or event or
- 27:36Speaker 2: something by yourself, or do you find yourself often like
- 27:39Speaker 2: texting friends or friends are texting you saying, hey, can
- 27:42Speaker 2: we meet downstairs so then we go out
- 27:43Speaker 2: together?
- 27:44Speaker 1: I want to read you a lengthy text from Xiao Y. Hello,
- 27:47Speaker 1: Xiao Yan. People label me as extrovert and party animal,
- 27:51Speaker 1: but they don't see how I'm always accompanied.
- 27:53Speaker 1: By someone and always cling to someone during social events.
- 27:57Speaker 1: One evening though, my friend Spanang said me at the
- 27:59Speaker 1: very last minute during a ladies' night at a club.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I froze at the entrance for quite a while, undecided
- 28:05Speaker 1: what to do, and this female stranger took notice. She said,
- 28:09Speaker 1: Let me guess, your friend stood you up, right? Oh no,
- 28:12Speaker 1: and you don't know what to do now. I was
- 28:14Speaker 1: shocked at how she got it right immediately. She laughed
- 28:16Speaker 1: and said it's because that happens to her every other week.
- 28:20Speaker 1: She invited me to join her and her friends, and
- 28:22Speaker 1: I decided to just YOLO and socialize on my own.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It was way more fun than I expected. I got
- 28:27Speaker 1: to know people in the same line of work, and
- 28:29Speaker 1: we even explored possibilities of future collaborations, but the most
- 28:33Speaker 1: memorable and daring thing I did was to flirt with
- 28:36Speaker 1: the super cute bartender with the tips and gardens from
- 28:39Speaker 1: my new friends. Very proud to say I nailed it.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Got us 2 rounds of drinks and his number as well.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Hang on, I'm married to someone else now. Oh, and
- 28:50Speaker 1: as I type this, I do cheekily wonder how things
- 28:53Speaker 1: might have been if I had followed up on the
- 28:56Speaker 1: number I received. Hope my hubby isn't hearing this.
- 28:59Speaker 2: What
- 28:59Speaker 2: a great story, dude. What a great story. Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 1: thank you for sharing. That's an itch you'll never scratch.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Leave it alone.
- 29:07Speaker 2: But you know, it's, it's, it's very normal. I mean, look,
- 29:10Speaker 2: like the moment.
- 29:11Speaker 2: This could be a topic for another day, right? But
- 29:13Speaker 2: the moment you are locked in with someone and you've,
- 29:16Speaker 2: you've been in a relationship for a long time, it
- 29:18Speaker 2: doesn't mean that there's not going to be other interactions
- 29:20Speaker 2: where you get curious about, you know. No,
- 29:23Speaker 1: it's, it's, this
- 29:24Speaker 1: is human nature,
- 29:25Speaker 2: but, but it is a choice that you decide, OK,
- 29:28Speaker 2: but no, this is my person at the end of
- 29:30Speaker 2: the day, you know what I mean? Yeah, this is
- 29:33Speaker 2: how I see it. I mean, we're only human.
- 29:35Speaker 2: When you are going to notice attractive people out there
- 29:39Speaker 2: in the course of your life.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I have so many questions right now that will definitely
- 29:42Speaker 1: branch's topic. So we can do
- 29:44Speaker 1: it.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Down to our last few messages, a very text-heavy one
- 29:48Speaker 2: here today. Are you the kind of person that, you know,
- 29:50Speaker 2: you need to link up with someone, a trusted friend
- 29:53Speaker 2: or your bestie, before you walk into a function or
- 29:56Speaker 2: a club or a party, or are you perfectly OK
- 29:59Speaker 2: going in and out?
- 29:59Speaker 2: On your own, OK.
- 30:01Speaker 1: One text coming in from Xavier, who says this morning guys.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I'm definitely the type who will text someone, Hey, are
- 30:09Speaker 1: you downstairs already? Wait for me. We go in together.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I used to think I was perfectly fine walking into
- 30:14Speaker 1: these things alone until one family gathering where I arrived
- 30:18Speaker 1: by myself, opened the door, and everyone was already seated
- 30:21Speaker 1: in their own little groups talking and laughing.
- 30:24Speaker 1: I knew almost everyone there, but somehow in that few seconds,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I felt like I belonged nowhere. So I just stood
- 30:29Speaker 1: there pretending to check my phone until one cousin noticed me,
- 30:33Speaker 1: came over and said, Why are you standing here alone?
- 30:35Speaker 1: I was waiting for you. That sentence was so small,
- 30:38Speaker 1: but I still remember the relief.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Well, um, I think you were talking about Nigel, right? Yes,
- 30:43Speaker 2: if I'm not wrong.
- 30:46Speaker 2: If I'm not wrong, if I'm not wrong. OK, OK,
- 30:49Speaker 1: OK. Wrong, wrong, my bad, my
- 30:51Speaker 2: bad. No worries, no worries. I was a little confused too.
- 30:54Speaker 2: But anyway, um, more of your messages coming through as well.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Only one person can walk away with this incredible prize
- 30:59Speaker 2: and this, by the way, was the final chance for
- 31:01Speaker 2: you to win.
- 31:02Speaker 2: And we'd love for you to check out Mosella.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing that I'm not alone when it
- 31:07Speaker 1: comes to going into a venue to scout out the
- 31:09Speaker 1: entire area or to see what the vibe is like,
- 31:12Speaker 1: then report to my friends. I, I feel like I'll
- 31:14Speaker 1: make a very good scout, to be honest with you. Yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 2: I'm surprised that you were not in scouts in the
- 31:19Speaker 2: past in school.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Sounds like something you would
- 31:21Speaker 2: take.
- 31:22Speaker 1: I think they do different things compared to the army scout.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Oh, no, but it's, it's a preparation, I think, of course,
- 31:29Speaker 2: when you're a kid, they're not gonna force you to
- 31:31Speaker 2: do the same thing as army it's different, but there's
- 31:34Speaker 2: some prep course, I think
- 31:35Speaker 1: a very
- 31:35Speaker 1: good reconnaissance guy, but anyway, I think.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Can you stop?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Sorry, just trying to be part of the conversation. What
- 31:42Speaker 2: was that?
- 31:43Speaker 1: But I want to give today's prize to a very
- 31:46Speaker 1: entertaining text we received earlier. Xiao
- 31:50Speaker 2: Yen,
- 31:50Speaker 1: congratulations.
- 31:51Speaker 2: This is for you. You're heading down to Pan Pacific
- 31:53Speaker 2: Orchard Hotel Marilla, embracing the Mediterranean culture of sharing communal dining,
- 31:58Speaker 2: and they've got a beautiful new daily a la carte menu,
- 32:01Speaker 2: excluding their Saturday brunch, which is very popular. I've been
- 32:04Speaker 2: there before, and you can enjoy things.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Like their tapas and also their platters of charcoal grilled
- 32:10Speaker 2: meats and more. Um, discover their Saturday brunch as well
- 32:13Speaker 2: and follow them Pan Pacific Orchard on Instagram. It's time
- 32:16Speaker 2: for some yummy food news.
- 32:18Speaker 1: OK, 123. Food news, news. Sonia with the good food news.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Give it to us, Ms. Chuw. What we got? OK,
- 32:28Speaker 2: so let me roll my chair closer to the mic. Sorry.
- 32:31Speaker 2: I tried to, you know, ever since I injured my ankle,
- 32:34Speaker 2: I need to.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Like sit in a certain angle all the time. So yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 2: you've seen me in the studio. Anyway, there's a cool
- 32:39Speaker 2: new spot somewhere in town for people who love bread,
- 32:44Speaker 2: and I love hoopan. I don't know if you like
- 32:46Speaker 2: hoppan as well. I don't think I've ever seen you
- 32:48Speaker 1: have one I'm sure I've tried it without even knowing
- 32:50Speaker 1: it's called, but yeah, it's like, um,
- 32:52Speaker 2: like Japanese style, quite fluffy bread, you know, um, so pan, hokupan,
- 32:58Speaker 2: all that like quite similar, like milk bread, um, salt
- 33:01Speaker 2: bread and all that, very, very, very tasty.
- 33:04Speaker 2: This cool new spot, I unknowingly actually walked past it
- 33:08Speaker 2: and I noticed it because the aesthetic of the shop
- 33:11Speaker 2: outside is very pretty, but I wonder when I saw it,
- 33:15Speaker 2: I don't think it was open just yet, and I
- 33:17Speaker 2: was curious about it because I was like, oh, I'm
- 33:19Speaker 2: looking for new coffee places all the time, right? This
- 33:21Speaker 2: is over at Claymore Drive. Um, it's a, it's a
- 33:24Speaker 2: spot called Cloud Mills, a modern Japanese influenced bakery.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Um, and they own other popular brunch cafes. I think
- 33:32Speaker 2: there's Cloud Fields in Outram, and, uh, MasterChef Singapore season
- 33:36Speaker 2: one runner-up, Genevieve Lee, um, was actually engaged as a
- 33:40Speaker 2: consultant to develop the bakes over here. So, fun, fun fact,
- 33:44Speaker 2: they actually use a binchotan, which is like a charcoal grill,
- 33:47Speaker 2: white charcoal grill, to prepare some of the proteins like unagi, sausages.
- 33:52Speaker 2: They use that as fillings.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Into their hokupan.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I'm looking at the exterior of this place.
- 33:58Speaker 2: It's
- 33:59Speaker 1: so pretty. Instagram worthy or
- 34:01Speaker 2: very pretty, very, very pretty. Um, so they're taking what
- 34:04Speaker 2: they call a restaurant approach to their savory bakes. So
- 34:08Speaker 2: it's more of like artisanal, more than just like, oh,
- 34:11Speaker 2: I tapao and go kind of situation. They really want
- 34:13Speaker 2: you to enjoy it, you know. So imagine enjoying like
- 34:15Speaker 2: charcoal grilled seafood and meat on your xiopan or your
- 34:18Speaker 2: hokupan like.
- 34:19Speaker 2: And it looks so beautiful as well. I'm pretty sure
- 34:23Speaker 2: they will be packed out.
- 34:24Speaker 1: The pork belly looks very good.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, super good,
- 34:27Speaker 1: right? In the pictures at
- 34:28Speaker 2: least. Um, well, the people behind Cloud Mills Bakery, they're
- 34:31Speaker 2: also opening a new eatery called AO under, I think
- 34:35Speaker 2: it's a Japanese inspired sharing plates, if I'm not wrong. Meantime,
- 34:39Speaker 2: Cloud Mills is located at level one at one Claymore Drive.
- 34:43Speaker 2: And they're open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 or
- 34:46Speaker 2: until they sell out.
- 34:47Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna cut my hair over at the
- 34:48Speaker 1: Orchard
- 34:49Speaker 1: area.
- 34:49Speaker 2: It's quite near, right? Perfect. Yeah, exactly. Coming up in
- 34:53Speaker 2: just a bit, Jo and I were just discussing about
- 34:54Speaker 2: this off-air actually.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Um, and you know, both of us are dog lovers
- 34:58Speaker 2: for sure. Joe, I, I, I feel eventually we will
- 35:02Speaker 2: want to get a Goldie, Goldie or adopt a dog,
- 35:04Speaker 2: just any dog.
- 35:05Speaker 1: We'll see which one fits me
- 35:06Speaker 1: better. To be honest,
- 35:07Speaker 2: I saw a few dogs up for adoption that I
- 35:10Speaker 2: was very tempted to, to go for
- 35:12Speaker 1: to give Maxi a sibling. Well,
- 35:14Speaker 2: technically she doesn't live with me, right? Yeah, but you know.
- 35:17Speaker 2: You know, a germ spoke to me and said like, dude,
- 35:19Speaker 2: we're like barely at home. How do you think we're gonna,
- 35:22Speaker 2: and I said, yeah, you know, either you get a
- 35:25Speaker 2: dog and it really shapes your scheduling, you know, or
- 35:28Speaker 2: you have to fit it, right, for sure.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Well done
- 35:30Speaker 1: to you and Jeremy for admitting, we're not a lot
- 35:34Speaker 1: we love dogs now is not the time.
- 35:35Speaker 2: It's not. Maybe in a couple of years or something, but.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Um, a story coming through that happened here in Singapore,
- 35:41Speaker 2: that's a gentle reminder that we really need to be
- 35:44Speaker 2: more responsible as dog owners. OK,
- 35:47Speaker 1: OK. OK.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go.
- 35:50Speaker 1: This happened two years ago, I think over at the Senate.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Drive area. Do you know where that is Senate
- 35:56Speaker 2: Road? Not exactly. Is it a private, um, like what
- 36:01Speaker 2: GCB area
- 36:01Speaker 1: or somewhere in Bedok.
- 36:02Speaker 2: OK. OK.
- 36:03Speaker 1: So a Singaporean couple was fined after their four unlicensed dogs.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Let me give you the breed. OK. Cane Corsos
- 36:13Speaker 2: fierce.
- 36:14Speaker 1: And Rottweilers,
- 36:16Speaker 1: fierce. Weren't you the one that said you want to
- 36:17Speaker 1: call a Rottweiler
- 36:18Speaker 2: fluffy? Fluffy, like the fiercest looking dog. Yeah,
- 36:22Speaker 1: so all
- 36:23Speaker 1: four dogs were able to escape through a faulty gate
- 36:26Speaker 1: and attack a Labrador.
- 36:29Speaker 1: And and and a helper who was walking the Labrador,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I think was badly injured. Uh, so the Labrador, the
- 36:36Speaker 1: Labrador had to actually get almost $3360 worth of treatment
- 36:43Speaker 1: while the helper went to go see a doctor as
- 36:44Speaker 1: well just to make sure that she's OK, no cuts
- 36:46Speaker 1: or whatsoever.
- 36:47Speaker 2: She
- 36:47Speaker 2: had a cut. She had a cut, yeah. I
- 36:49Speaker 1: mean like minor injuries, thankfully nothing serious, but I think
- 36:52Speaker 1: the Labrador tanked the whole thing, which shouldn't be the case.
- 36:55Speaker 1: So yeah, the wife was fined $3100 and the husband
- 37:00Speaker 1: was fined $5400 with the wife also ordered to pay
- 37:05Speaker 1: $4000 towards the victim's dog's medical costs. Yeah,
- 37:10Speaker 2: but aside from that, I, I don't need an additional
- 37:16Speaker 2: license or something and I don't recall seeing.
- 37:21Speaker 2: I'm not sure whether you can own so many of
- 37:23Speaker 2: these types of
- 37:24Speaker 2: dogs.
- 37:26Speaker 1: So yes, you are also exceed the numbers and more
- 37:30Speaker 1: than one restricted breed dog without approval.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Oh no, I'm wondering whether there is a wider or
- 37:36Speaker 2: bigger story this why do they have so many of
- 37:39Speaker 2: these dogs?
- 37:40Speaker 1: Always check everything before you own a dog here in Singapore,
- 37:43Speaker 1: any pet for that matter and yeah, please, uh, especially
- 37:47Speaker 1: at the parks.
- 37:48Speaker 1: As a jogger, I love dogs, but some dogs aren't
- 37:52Speaker 1: as disciplined as the other one. They might start chasing me,
- 37:56Speaker 1: barking at me for no reason,
- 37:57Speaker 2: which is why I always say like it's been a
- 38:00Speaker 2: very eye-opening experience, like, especially watching my, my mom, for example, she's, um,
- 38:05Speaker 2: had to train herself to be able to care for
- 38:08Speaker 2: Maxi as well, and through that process, we learned it's
- 38:10Speaker 2: not just about.
- 38:11Speaker 2: The dog for dog training. It's about training the humans
- 38:14Speaker 2: as well, you know. Did you send Maxi to dog school? Yeah, yeah. OK.
- 38:18Speaker 2: So because she's a, we adopted her, right? So she
- 38:21Speaker 2: isn't like, we didn't have her from puppy. So she
- 38:25Speaker 2: had a quite an unfortunate life for most part of it,
- 38:28Speaker 2: and she didn't know how to walk on a leash.
- 38:30Speaker 2: She didn't know how to like pee or poo on
- 38:31Speaker 2: like the pee pad, like she doesn't understand that concept,
- 38:34Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 38:35Speaker 2: And just like even going for food, for example, like cues,
- 38:38Speaker 2: like how you tell her like, OK, you can eat now,
- 38:40Speaker 2: that kind of thing, or don't eat too fast, we
- 38:42Speaker 2: had to get her a slow feeder. Like there's so
- 38:44Speaker 2: much effort that goes into especially raising a dog who
- 38:48Speaker 2: has had trauma. Yeah.
- 38:51Speaker 1: And did she pass with flying colors
- 38:52Speaker 2: passed with flying
- 38:52Speaker 1: colors.
- 38:54Speaker 2: My mom also passed with flying colors.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Because the owner also has to go through some tests. Yeah,
- 38:59Speaker 2: I think that's so important, by the way
- 39:01Speaker 1: to stay calm, to be firm but
- 39:03Speaker 2: loving, to understand what the dog's trying to say, you know,
- 39:06Speaker 2: with these gestures.
- 39:07Speaker 1: No wonder they
- 39:08Speaker 1: say before you have a baby, a dog first and
- 39:10Speaker 1: see what you'll be training,
- 39:11Speaker 2: I'm sure, yeah, it's very good training. Anyway, um, to
- 39:14Speaker 2: all dog owners out there, give your fluffy friend a
- 39:17Speaker 2: little kiss and a hug this morning for some good energy.
- 39:20Speaker 1: If it's a
- 39:21Speaker 1: Goldie, give it a title on my behalf.
- 39:23Speaker 2: you squeeze. I want to squeeze
- 39:25Speaker 1: hard. Can you calm down? It's a small dog.
- 39:27Speaker 2: She's not that small. She's like 10
- 39:28Speaker 1: kg. It's gonna be some weekend for us here in Singapore.
- 39:32Speaker 1: How about starting it off tonight over at the Esplanade
- 39:35Speaker 1: Riverfront Stage for 987 Indigo's Fresh Music Live. We got Phyllis, Icebox, Alicia, DC,
- 39:43Speaker 1: and this festival headlined by Cesari, and then tomorrow myself
- 39:47Speaker 1: and Louisa broadcasting.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Live from Adidas Brand Center Orchard right in front of
- 39:52Speaker 1: the store from 12 to 2. And then on Sunday,
- 39:56Speaker 1: we're doing it and that's where the big guns are coming.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Fred Vesty. Oh, OK, so
- 40:00Speaker 2: the actual thing is on Sunday and Baby
- 40:02Speaker 1: Monster and I'll be hosting the festival that happens from
- 40:04Speaker 1: 6 to 9, the one starring the likes of Iman Fundy,
- 40:07Speaker 1: Benjamin King, and DJ Kiara. And if I'm not wrong,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I think, uh, April Kim will be there to help
- 40:12Speaker 1: me speak to Baby Monster in person.
- 40:14Speaker 2: We are all gearing up towards the F1 season here
- 40:17Speaker 2: in Singapore already. I mean, you know, every single year, right,
- 40:20Speaker 2: around this time, you start noticing all the construction and
- 40:23Speaker 2: the fencing going up already on the roads. You, you
- 40:25Speaker 2: know it's time. Um, the funny thing was like when
- 40:28Speaker 2: I was in Monaco, right, it looks exactly the same
- 40:30Speaker 2: as Singapore. So the thing is, because it's a street
- 40:33Speaker 2: circuit also, it was very surreal to see how other
- 40:36Speaker 2: countries did the setup compared to here in Singapore. And
- 40:39Speaker 2: I have to say,
- 40:40Speaker 2: The way that they did it, the efficiency and how they,
- 40:43Speaker 2: you know, planned the circuit is so similar. It's really
- 40:46Speaker 2: nice to see. So if you are really excited for
- 40:49Speaker 2: the F1 season here in Singapore, the countdown begins.
- 40:53Speaker 1: So can you help me for a while? Yeah, OK,
- 40:55Speaker 1: so let's just say it's baby monster, right? Right. And
- 40:57Speaker 1: given how they're all still very young, but, but I'm
- 41:00Speaker 1: a fan, and I've always said this, I feel like
- 41:03Speaker 1: the one in my opinion with the most potential is Chiquita. OK,
- 41:07Speaker 1: she's cool. She's 17 this year.
- 41:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna practice one line with you and tell me
- 41:12Speaker 1: whether do I sound creepy or not because I'm 38,
- 41:14Speaker 1: she's 17. So, hey, Chiquita, you know what, I'm a fan.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I wish you all the best in your career. You're
- 41:19Speaker 1: gonna go far. No, that sounds OK. Thank you. OK, good.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I'm safe tomorrow just in case. Why would that sound weird?
- 41:24Speaker 1: As long as no one takes it out of context,
- 41:26Speaker 1: you know what I mean? I don't think there
- 41:27Speaker 2: was any that was purely just from a professional standpoint.
- 41:30Speaker 2: I think you're overthinking it.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I know I could be. I could
- 41:33Speaker 2: be overthinking it.
