De Vries Injury Shakes A’s Future | Oakland Athletics News
A major setback for the Athletics: top prospect Leo De Vries, 19, needs shoulder surgery for a torn labrum, sidelining him for eight months and pushing his return to May 2027. Once on fire with a .290 average, 13 homers, and 34 steals in just 93 games, his injury hits hard—especially as the team’s farm system faces other struggles. With the big league club out of playoff contention, the A’s are prioritizing De Vries’ long-term health over immediate returns, trusting he’ll come back stronger after rehab.
