- 0:00Crazy price action right now in the silver market and the gold
- 0:04market. We're going to dig in and
- 0:05explain what is going on and what we can expect as we move
- 0:09into these next couple weeks. But Oh my gosh, I'm shocked
- 0:13because everyone that I'm hearing speak regarding what we
- 0:17should be expecting over the next few weeks said nothing is
- 0:20going to happen really in any of the markets till we get through
- 0:24the elections. And what we're seeing this
- 0:26morning in the silver market in particular so far is nothing
- 0:30short of spectacular. Initial reports that I'm
- 0:33hearing, I listen to Phil Streibel from Blue Line Futures.
- 0:37He puts out a great video every morning.
- 0:39He's been a guest here in the basement.
- 0:41He's a regular guest on CNBC. This guy's super smart and he
- 0:45says there's two things going on.
- 0:47Number one, there was a big report out of guess where,
- 0:51China. Nobody's impacting the precious
- 0:53metals prices right now like China, but there was a big
- 0:56report about copper and the LME, the London Metals Exchange,
- 1:01inventories of copper dropping. Remember, guys, silver is a
- 1:05monetary metal. It will follow gold, but it's
- 1:08also critically an industrial metal now as well.
- 1:11So it has this cozy little relationship ship with copper.
- 1:15So the copper prices up this news out of China.
- 1:18On the second front, there's another piece of news out of
- 1:20China that now they're announcing they're going to do
- 1:23more stimulus. And people think this is how it
- 1:26all works out, right? Follow me on this, that if
- 1:29Donald Trump is elected as president, which I believe, I
- 1:33guess it's who you want to believe, but it sounds like the
- 1:36betting odds at this point, or at least the Donald Trump will
- 1:39be elected, that the Chinese will have to implement even more
- 1:43aggressive stimulus because of all the tariffs that he's
- 1:47talking about. And again, when the Chinese
- 1:50stimulate, when they print money out of nowhere, that is very,
- 1:54very good for silver and gold. But what about $36 silver?
- 1:57Don't you worry. Don't you worry, Buttercup.
- 2:02We are going to check the silver price in just a few minutes.
- 2:05But let's talk about $36 silver right now.
- 2:09As we're speaking, let's go out to our friend, the Oriental
- 2:13Ghost. Uh oh, wrong screen.
- 2:15Here we go. We're going to come back to that
- 2:18one because that's also exciting.
- 2:20Here is the data from the Shanghai Gold Exchange.
- 2:24And the only reason that we emphasize the high is because as
- 2:28we can see here, right, the silver price is always higher in
- 2:33China. And it's so interesting because
- 2:35the Chinese market is a physical market.
- 2:39We're going to talk about JP. Oh, worrying about the Fed too.
- 2:41We got a lot. And we have a special guest
- 2:43joining us, Brian from Mountain Boy and Entertainment.
- 2:46Buckle in, guys. Seriously, we got a ton to
- 2:48cover. But the Shanghai Gold Exchange
- 2:52is a physical market. There's AG.
- 2:55This was the closing numbers from last night.
- 2:57Here it is in U.S. dollars, 36 dollar physical silver in China.
- 3:03OK, now it gets even crazier when we go down or we go back up
- 3:08to what the Oriental ghost and this guy is always on it always
- 3:12knows what's going on direct from China.
- 3:14Gold is all time high again in the night trading on the
- 3:18Shanghai Gold Exchange and the Shanghai Futures Exchange.
- 3:24I can't read any of this. I can't read Chinese writing or
- 3:28I don't know what. They call it those.
- 3:30They're beautiful, those symbols.
- 3:32This is probably, I think it's per gram, this is their price.
- 3:36Anyway, we're going to believe him in that we have a new all
- 3:40time high on both the Shanghai Gold Exchange and the Shanghai
- 3:43Futures Exchange. For the gold.
- 3:46Price all time high gold silver, what's silver doing?
- 3:50You guys want to run out and take a look at the silver price
- 3:53because early earlier it was up and up quite strongly.
- 3:57I think we can say let's go out to channel sponsor pin backs and
- 4:01we will press the magic button here and get an update on the
- 4:05silver price. Wow, wow, $0.83 per oz.
- 4:11Let that sink in for just one second.
- 4:15Unbelievable. I'm shocked, I'm flabbergasted.
- 4:20How do you feel? I mean, this, this is not
- 4:23supposed to be happening. We have silver at $34.52, guys,
- 4:28we talked, we'll get into that later.
- 4:30First, let's say thank you to channel sponsor PMBEX.
- 4:33Without their financial support, Ron's basement, our community,
- 4:37right, us basement dwellers wouldn't be possible.
- 4:40So thank you to PMBEX. What I feel so great about
- 4:43having PMBEX as a sponsor is because of a number of key
- 4:47factors. Probably the biggest is how
- 4:49they've treated all of us, all of the basement dwellers, all
- 4:52the people that have gone and checked out Pinbacks, talked to
- 4:56the brothers that owned the company, bought physical metal,
- 4:59metal from the company. I've received overwhelming
- 5:02positive response and that's because they always have ultra
- 5:07competitive pricing, a great selection and the number one
- 5:10thing, the foundation before you ever, whether you buy it from
- 5:14PMBEX or any other local coin shop, bullion dealer, you want
- 5:18to work with people that you know you can trust.
- 5:22And I feel 100% confident from my perspective of saying that I
- 5:26trust PMBEX. I worked with them.
- 5:28I bought metal from them before they even sponsored Ron's
- 5:31basement, $0.83 per oz in the silver market.
- 5:35Wow, wow, wow. What was that price again?
- 5:39Hold on, let's run out there and look one more time quickly
- 5:42because we talked about this and everyone has talked about this.
- 5:46There's the deck clock. Yes, guys, that once we got
- 5:50above 3250, once we got above 3435, we're still in a big
- 5:55battle. But that it was it was it's
- 5:58it's, it's clear sailing to 4440.
- 6:01Five, $50 per oz silver. Now look, I don't have a crystal
- 6:05ball. You and I both know
- 6:06unfortunately three weeks from now, yeah, but we got a lot of
- 6:11unknowns, uncertainty in the future here in the next few
- 6:15weeks we on for, we could be talking about a lower silver
- 6:18price than where we are now, but it sure feels like based on
- 6:21everything that we know that the silver price truly could break
- 6:25out into that $4045 per oz range.
- 6:29It's going to be super interesting to watch.
- 6:31And we know there just aren't any people.
- 6:34We're we're essentially at an all time high.
- 6:36We are at an all time high for silver in my book.
- 6:40Yeah, sure. You know, we hit 50 bucks in
- 6:431980. We hit $50 per oz in 2011.
- 6:47But if you look at a long term chart of the silver price, it's
- 6:50clear as day that over the last 50 years we've only been above
- 6:55where we are for maybe I don't know, 11 months, 13 months or
- 6:59something like that. So essentially, there's very few
- 7:02people that have bought silver higher than where we are today
- 7:05that would want to sell when the price hits 40, $50 per oz.
- 7:09Very, very few people. That means there's not going to
- 7:13be a lot of supply coming on the market.
- 7:15And we know the level of interest right now in the
- 7:18precious metals continues to explode.
- 7:21By the way, my level of interest in you is exploding.
- 7:26Thank you for being here. Thank you for being a part of
- 7:28the Basement. I appreciate everyone who
- 7:30subscribed to the channel gives the video a thumbs up.
- 7:34Super chat, super thanks PayPal donations never ever, ever
- 7:38expected. Always much appreciated and
- 7:41please never donate any money that you can't afford.
- 7:44OK, that's that's critical. Everything here is free
- 7:47Donations are nice, but again, not expected.
- 7:50OK, let's move on together. So much happening, but that the
- 7:54whole point of this video was that they're going to end the
- 7:56Fed. Are we going the Fed, the
- 8:00Federal Reserve, right? Remember, let's, let's remember
- 8:03something very critical about the Federal Reserve. the Fed in
- 8:07Federal Reserve is no more federal than the Fed in Federal
- 8:11Express. The Federal Reserve is not part
- 8:13of our government. The Federal Reserve is owned by
- 8:16a bunch of private banks. There's some arrangement where
- 8:19they report to Congress, blah, blah, blah.
- 8:21But at the end of the day, they're owned, they're bought
- 8:24and sold by the big banks. the Fed is not your friend, right?
- 8:29They, they make this out of nowhere and don't forget right
- 8:33there there's their stated objective is for this to only
- 8:36lose 2% of its value per year. If you're an average middle
- 8:40class American who doesn't have a big, a real estate portfolio
- 8:43or whatever stock portfolio, they only want you to lose 2%.
- 8:47Now we know that the real numbers are much, much higher
- 8:50than that, but the Fed is not your friend and is there?
- 8:53There is. This is a.
- 8:55Fact there's growing support to end the Fed let's let's dig into
- 9:00this because it's very interesting right.
- 9:02No more money printing for you Jerome very very interesting.
- 9:06Let's go out to 0 hedge and they are pointing out some astounding
- 9:12facts about the make sure we got through all that.
- 9:15Where is it? Here it is.
- 9:17OK, the revolution continues. The ranks of anti fed
- 9:24Republicans are growing. OK, So what they're telling us
- 9:29here is they're talking about Ron Paul, 12 year, 12 year
- 9:33anniversary of his retirement from Congress.
- 9:35But his legacy continues to to display itself on the political
- 9:40scene. There's Ron Paul there he is
- 9:42with his in the Fed. Hey, you know, Andrew Jackson
- 9:47and Thomas Jefferson are smiling.
- 9:50What's that Guy Hamilton, The people that wrote the US
- 9:52Constitution. Less obvious, however, has been
- 9:55the growing political support for one of Doctor Paul's
- 9:59greatest priorities, ending the Federal Reserve.
- 10:03And guys, let me look you in the eye because this is so you are
- 10:06not anti American if you want to end the Federal Reserve.
- 10:09You're actually more of an American patriot if you stand
- 10:13against the Federal Reserve. Thomas Jefferson, Hamilton, all
- 10:17those guys are smiling on you because the Fed is evil.
- 10:21I'm sorry, right? Read the books, study up on it.
- 10:2599% of the American people are clueless what the Fed even does
- 10:29and how the Fed has taken actions which have really made
- 10:34life much more difficult for the average American.
- 10:39But, but what you got to remember about the Fed is the
- 10:42President Woodrow Wilson, who signed the the legislation to
- 10:45create the Federal Reserve. He is on record.
- 10:49We've got a picture. I don't have it pulled up today.
- 10:51But two years after he signed the legislation to create the
- 10:54Federal Reserve, he said, I'm the most unhappy man.
- 10:58I have destroyed my country. I didn't realize that I was
- 11:01selling my countrymen out to the interest of big banks and
- 11:05corporations. OK, now let's go back to what's
- 11:08happening. These are unbelievable
- 11:11developments right now happening in our country in regards to the
- 11:15Fed says as an illustration of this this movement to end the
- 11:19Fed has seen most obviously in the bill itself in 2012.
- 11:24OK Doctor Ron Paul during his last term in Congress is in the
- 11:29Fed bill didn't have a single Co sponsor.
- 11:33So in 2012 when he put put forth the legislation to end the Fed,
- 11:38nobody, nobody got on board with them. 0 milch in 2024,
- 11:43introduced by Thomas Massie. The bill now has 23 Co sponsors.
- 11:49OK. And it lists the 23 Co sponsors
- 11:51there. And on top of that, in this past
- 11:54year, another new precedent was set with Mike Lee.
- 11:58He's the first senator to introduce the bill into the
- 12:02upper chamber. And let's check this out.
- 12:04Hold on here. Make sure I got you on the right
- 12:06screen, which I do. I believe he's from Utah.
- 12:11Yeah. Mike Lee, a United States
- 12:13senator for Utah. OK, here's a press release
- 12:17breaking the bank. Senator Lee introduces bill to
- 12:20abolish the Federal Reserve. We have senators proposing to
- 12:25end the Federal Reserve. We have 23 congressmen and women
- 12:28proposing to end the Federal Reserve.
- 12:31And we have a growing chorus of American people who are
- 12:35educating themselves, a lot of them from the silver and gold
- 12:38community, a lot of them from the cryptocurrency community,
- 12:43right? We won't go into crypto, a
- 12:45crypto debate, right? A lot of crypto people and and
- 12:48precious metals people. It's interesting.
- 12:50We share all the same foundational beliefs, but man,
- 12:54when it comes to either crypto or precious metals, that can
- 12:58create a real street fight, but none the less, right, We
- 13:01senators, congressmen, and now we have more and more people.
- 13:06We got the Costco dads. Hey, Don, how?
- 13:08Thank you for the Super chat, my friend.
- 13:10Let's pull him up. Good to see you, Don.
- 13:13Good to see you. Welcome to the basement.
- 13:16We're going to have Brian here from Mountain Bullion
- 13:18Entertainment in about 10 minutes.
- 13:20He's supposed to join a special guest, and he has some crazy
- 13:23interesting facts to point out about the silver market, silver
- 13:27supply. We're going to get with him as
- 13:29well. Let's get Don off here.
- 13:31All right? Yeah.
- 13:32So it's not just senators, congressmen, It's now the Costco
- 13:36dads. The people are buying gold and
- 13:38they, Costco, they're going to wise up there, eventually going
- 13:41to realize they want to buy it from a specialist from a company
- 13:44like Pendeks. But for now, it's a great
- 13:47gateway to get new people into the precious metal sector.
- 13:51It's going to be absolutely crazy, man.
- 13:56There's so much to cover. What about JP Morgan?
- 13:58This is funny. JP Morgan, it's not funny.
- 14:02Was convicted for decades, right?
- 14:04The world's biggest bank, blah, blah, blah of manipulating the
- 14:07silver and gold price, tamping down silver, bragging about it.
- 14:11These traders, you know, spoofing, We've gone through it
- 14:15all. It's a big, big issue that's
- 14:17occurred over the last number of decades.
- 14:20I thought this was, was, was humorous.
- 14:23I don't know if you heard about this, but JP Morgan had a little
- 14:27trouble. Was it last week or two weeks
- 14:29ago there was an infinite money glitch.
- 14:31CNBC, JPMorgan begin suing customers who allegedly stole
- 14:36thousands of dollars in the infinite money glitch.
- 14:40So what this was was they had some problem with their ATMs
- 14:44where people were able to, like, just write a check for whatever
- 14:47amount they wanted, hundreds of thousands of dollars, deposit it
- 14:51into their account and then withdraw the money.
- 14:54But JP Morgan forgot that critical thing was the check
- 14:58that they actually that the bounce was going to or that the
- 15:00check was not going to bounce, which they were.
- 15:03OK. So JP Morgan has begun suing
- 15:05customers who stole thousands of dollars from ATM's by taking
- 15:08advantage of a technical glitch that allowed them to withdraw
- 15:13funds before the check bounced. Okay.
- 15:15They filed suit in three federal courts.
- 15:17A Houston case involves a man who owes JP Morgan $290,000.
- 15:23He he got him good, wouldn't you say?
- 15:26I don't know what he bought with that.
- 15:28Maybe some silver and gold, Who knows?
- 15:30I digress. After an after an unidentified
- 15:32accomplice deposited a counterfeit $335,000 check.
- 15:37So somebody put a bad check into this guy's account and then this
- 15:40guy was able to take out. This is not what's what's funny
- 15:44about it? OK, so the infinite money
- 15:46glitch. It was a TikTok video that
- 15:48spread like wildfire. People I had like for two days
- 15:52were doing this. OK here's what JP Morgan says.
- 15:55On August 29th, a masked man deposited a check into the
- 15:59defendants bank Chase Bank account in the amount of 335 K
- 16:03After the check was deposited, the defendant began to withdraw
- 16:06vast majority of the ill gotten funds.
- 16:10This. So what I'm thinking is this
- 16:13infinite money glitch. I'm thinking do these do these
- 16:15people did they suddenly now they know what it feels like to
- 16:18be Jerome Powell at the Federal Reserve.
- 16:20I think Jerome Powell has an infinite money glitch right?
- 16:23As long as as long as we they're not that abolished as as we've
- 16:31talked about this movement coming forth right suddenly this
- 16:35guy in Houston must have must have felt he was the new Jerome
- 16:38Powell. JP Morgan, the biggest bank by
- 16:41US assets is investigating the infinite money glitch, although
- 16:44it hasn't disclosed the associated losses despite a
- 16:47waning you. Oh, this is interesting.
- 16:49This tells us what how the bank feels about going to digital
- 16:53despite a waning use of paper checks as digital forms of
- 16:56payment gain popularity. 2 point or 26 billion and fraud every
- 17:01year. Now what?
- 17:02Now what really I thought, what I really thought was funny about
- 17:05this is JP Morgan is seeking the return of the stolen funds with
- 17:09interest and overdraft fees as well as lawyers fees and in some
- 17:13cases punitive damages. According to the complaints.
- 17:17It'll be a wave of legislation. This is what cracked me up.
- 17:21OK is now this is JP Morgan's quote.
- 17:23Fraud is a crime that impacts everyone and undermines trust in
- 17:28the banking system. That's according to JP Morgan
- 17:31spokesman Drew Pussy Terry. He said that in a statement to
- 17:35CNBC. And what I'm thinking about,
- 17:37Drew, right? I have a question for you.
- 17:39Does that apply to the precious metals market?
- 17:42Fraud is a crime, Drew. Does that apply to how you RIP
- 17:47people off with like 2627% interest rates on credit cards?
- 17:54I mean, is it OK for fraud's OK as long as JP Morgan?
- 17:59I mean, come on, everybody knows.
- 18:00It's been well documented. JP Morgan has ripped off people
- 18:04for decades, whether you're a precious metals investor or even
- 18:08a crap somebody who's to pay the 2524 twenty 8% credit card rate,
- 18:13that's highway robbery. And we know, I guess from a
- 18:16legal perspective, they were convicted of fraudulent trading
- 18:20activity spoofing. They sent a couple traders to
- 18:23jail. So I guess my question is, it's
- 18:26all I'm not, I'm not supporting what these people did right.
- 18:32I don't like fraud on either side.
- 18:34But I thought it was pretty funny that JP Morgan's got their
- 18:37their undies all in a in a ripple because somebody thought
- 18:41figured out a way to create an infinite money machine.
- 18:43And I still think it's pretty not humorous, but that these
- 18:48people, if they turn themselves in some into some miniature
- 18:51Jerome Powell's from the United. States Federal Reserve.
- 18:55What do you guys say we bring on our friend Brian from Mountain
- 18:57Bullion or Entertainment. He's got some interesting things
- 19:00to talk about this morning. Let me let me put my ears in and
- 19:06see if we can get Brian up here on stage.
- 19:09We're a few minutes early. Brian, can you hear us?
- 19:12Good morning. Yes, I can.
- 19:13Hey, good to good to see you buddy.
- 19:15How you doing? What do you think about JP
- 19:17Morgan being upset? I don't know if you heard about
- 19:20about people figuring out figuring out a way to to RIP
- 19:23them off a little bit. You know, I think it's pretty
- 19:27interesting, especially that it was such a a big deal, $26.6
- 19:33billion. That's pretty impressive.
- 19:35Yeah. It almost makes me wonder if JP
- 19:37Morgan had allowed this activity to go on just to create an
- 19:41environment where people are desperate because they don't
- 19:45want to go to jail to conjure up this money for them with
- 19:48interest. Yeah.
- 19:48Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a, it's in poor JP Morgan.
- 19:53They don't mind. They don't mind fraud when they
- 19:55benefit. Right.
- 19:57Yeah, now, now the shoe is on the other foot.
- 20:00Yeah, when they're when they're on the receiving and they don't
- 20:03like. It so well, so so what's.
- 20:04Going on, you've got some interesting, I would almost say
- 20:08stunning data you wanted to share about the silver market.
- 20:12What the what, what, what are you seeing right now going on
- 20:14with Silver Brian? Well, there's a lot going on.
- 20:18It's great to be here with you this morning.
- 20:20And hello to all the basement dwellers.
- 20:22Yeah. I'm not sure if you'd like to
- 20:25pull up that first slide that I had sent you from Bullion by
- 20:28post. Let's pull that up here.
- 20:30Hold on. See if I can pull this off.
- 20:32There we go. Is that it?
- 20:33There it is. Yes, that is thank you very
- 20:36much. As you can see in this article,
- 20:42if you took all of the silver that had been mined throughout
- 20:45history and let's just say you put it in bar form and you
- 20:48stacked it into a cube, that cube would be roughly 55 meters
- 20:53on each side. Now if you look at the sentence
- 20:57down at the bottom right under that cube, you can see that
- 21:03about 49% of the total silver mined has been lost or
- 21:08destroyed. Now this is based on numbers
- 21:12that came out of the CPM group, that those are the numbers they
- 21:15used for this article, and it's likely that even more silver has
- 21:20been destroyed than that. Hold on, Hold on, Brian.
- 21:23Brian, hold on. I'm having technical.
- 21:27There you are. OK, you're back.
- 21:28Sorry. Repeat that last sentence.
- 21:29I actually pulled up your YouTube channel in the
- 21:32background and you were talking twice at the same time.
- 21:35Oh, Oh yeah, no sweat at all. So wait a minute, wait a minute,
- 21:38wait a minute. You just told them it'd be that
- 21:40all the silver in the history of the world that's ever been mined
- 21:44would fit inside of a cube. That's about 55 yards by 55
- 21:48yards by like like half of a soccer field or half of a
- 21:53football field and then 55 yards high.
- 21:56Is that am I? Am I reading that correctly?
- 21:59Yes, that's correct. And you know, this is based on
- 22:02information coming out of this CPN group that they that they
- 22:06put into this article. And they're an authority, no
- 22:08doubt, right? Jeff Christian, no doubt.
- 22:11Yeah, well, I now you might want to take some stuff that he says
- 22:14with the great assault. But they, but they are an
- 22:16authority of the industry. Yeah.
- 22:19Now, if you look down at the sentence at the bottom there, it
- 22:22it is estimated that about 49% of the total silver that's been
- 22:26recovered has been either lost or destroyed.
- 22:30So this cube would actually be smaller than this.
- 22:33And then I I also would just like to mention it had been
- 22:36pointed out by the Silver Academy that they don't track
- 22:40silver used by militaries. So, you know, when we bombed the
- 22:45Houthi rebels with Tomahawks, for example, all of that silver
- 22:50that got destroyed, it was not accounted for.
- 22:53You know, that's just one example.
- 22:55Yeah, Well, Andy Scheckman says I'm good from a great source
- 23:00that there's, what, 500 ounces of silver roughly in each
- 23:04Tomahawk missile. Yeah.
- 23:07And then and then and then listen to this, Brian, because I
- 23:09think this, this blew me away. I saw a report, a congressional
- 23:13report from 1942, so almost 100 years ago during the onset of
- 23:18World War 2, that there was a report to our Congress that they
- 23:22were estimating back then that they were going to need, the
- 23:25military was going to need 200 million ounces of silver per
- 23:29year to fight World War 2. I mean, that was back.
- 23:33Then I would imagine they're maybe possibly using more silver
- 23:36now, I don't know. That, that is a lot.
- 23:40And and you figure if we're already looking at about that
- 23:43amount in a deficit over the last few years, we'll probably
- 23:47be looking at a little more than that for our deficit this year,
- 23:50probably more like 215,000,000, I think is what it was.
- 23:54And if they're not accounting that, I mean, does that mean
- 23:57that our deficit's actually closer to 400?
- 24:00Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:02Well, and you're saying it, so all that silver, that 55 meter
- 24:05cube and then about half of it has been lost to probably
- 24:10photography over the years. That's what it was used a lot in
- 24:13during the like fifties, 60s and 70s and just other industrial
- 24:17uses. So half of that silver is gone.
- 24:20And then I think it's critical for our viewer and us to realize
- 24:24too, that like of that silver that's left, that that is a
- 24:29finite, that is a, a static number, right?
- 24:33It can't be printed. And we, we know that every year
- 24:37because of the deficit, that above ground resource is
- 24:40shrinking and shrinking and shrinking.
- 24:41Nobody knows for sure how soon it'll shrink or when it'll get
- 24:44to 0. But we do know that it's a, it's
- 24:49a set number and that it's getting smaller and it will
- 24:52eventually, you know, if the deficits continue at some point
- 24:56get to 0, right? Does that make sense?
- 24:58Yeah, absolutely. It's just going to continue to
- 25:01dwindle. There's only so much of it out
- 25:04there. And then another thing to
- 25:06consider is there's only so much of it in investment grade form.
- 25:10A lot of silver has been used to make jewelry, for example, you
- 25:14know, So this isn't silver that would be considered like good
- 25:17delivery silver for the LBMA or for the COMEX.
- 25:22Yeah. Well, because and I appreciate
- 25:25you pointing that out because I think we don't realize how
- 25:28delicate and sensitive the the supply of silver bars, silver
- 25:36coins, the quote UN quote investment.
- 25:38Great how how really delicate and sensitive it is.
- 25:40It is it is a really a sliver of the total silver supply out
- 25:45there. And you know, we saw this during
- 25:48during the C19 crisis in 2020 where you know, people were
- 25:51supposed to coin shops were sold out online bullion dealers were
- 25:55sold out. We also saw it even just more
- 25:57recently about 18 months ago during the little banking crisis
- 26:01and what March, April of 2023 right where premiums on American
- 26:06Silver Eagles, one ounce American Silver Eagles.
- 26:09They got crazy. Like $25 and then even junk
- 26:12silver, the constitutional 90% silver.
- 26:15I mean, it doesn't take a lot to upset the apple cart when it
- 26:19comes to especially investment grade silver.
- 26:22No, it really doesn't take much at all to put much pressure on
- 26:26this market. I remember I had put in an order
- 26:29in that time period and it took a long time for me to get my
- 26:33stuff. So that there's really only so
- 26:36much. Well, that's because they had to
- 26:37get. They had to find a. 40 foot
- 26:39trailer truck to deliver all that silver you bought.
- 26:44Right, yeah, I was filling up my vault.
- 26:46Yes, exactly. Yeah.
- 26:51So if you wanted to pull up that other side, I just decided to
- 26:54make AAI mean. It's a pretty crude image here,
- 26:59but I did want to let people see what this would kind of look
- 27:01like. Now.
- 27:02This is based on average size professional soccer field in
- 27:06Europe. So this is the most common size
- 27:09that they are. They're 105 meters long and 68
- 27:12meters wide. So if you took that 49% out of
- 27:18that 50 not 5m cube, you'd end up with a cube that was 28.5
- 27:23meters. If you can imagine that Gray
- 27:25area being a cube and and that's it, that that's all that there
- 27:29is and that's. That's all the silver.
- 27:31Hold on, hold on. Wait a minute.
- 27:33That's you're telling me that's all the silver that is right now
- 27:37above ground in the world, but based upon the best data that we
- 27:41can that we can assimilate at this point is that go ahead.
- 27:45Yes, that's correct. And I mean it would probably be
- 27:48a little smaller from from military use, but yeah, based on
- 27:52the data that we have, that would be it.
- 27:54That's that's all that we didn't.
- 27:55Work with that, Brian. So you're telling me that like
- 27:58if I think of, I mean, look, I played soccer, so I know it's,
- 28:00but let's say I think of a football field in 30 yards,
- 28:04right? That's easy to visualize, 30
- 28:06yards in a football field field and then by another 30 yards by
- 28:10about possibly 30 yard. That's all the silver that's
- 28:14crazy to think about that of, of all throughout history, all the
- 28:20silver that was mined right? And then half of it or so was
- 28:24lost for use. Whatever all that's left right
- 28:26now could be in that roughly that 30 yard rough by 30 yard by
- 28:3130 yard. We don't realize how little
- 28:33silver there is. I mean, I'm part of it, part of
- 28:36it sitting in your basement. I know and I'm and you know, I
- 28:38don't keep hardly any silver at my house here, but.
- 28:42You know, it's kind of crazy to I am looking at an American
- 28:45Silver Eagle to think that my silver eagle's in that cube,
- 28:48right? Is that would that be safe to
- 28:50say? Yes, that's correct.
- 28:52So everybody watching this would include your personal stacks as
- 28:55well. Any jewelry that you own, it
- 28:57would be in there. Wow.
- 28:59That's all of it. All the all the silver for all
- 29:02of the 8 billion humans on the planet.
- 29:04Wow, wow, wow. All right.
- 29:06What else you got for us, Brian? You're the silver man.
- 29:09We love hearing from you. Well, yeah, it's it's great to
- 29:13be out here speaking with you guys now if you wanted to to
- 29:18pull up that third slide. Wow.
- 29:20We have another slide. You're prepared.
- 29:22This one here. Sure.
- 29:24You know what? We could do that one.
- 29:26OK. Or do you want to do this one?
- 29:27We'll come. Back to that one.
- 29:28Either one's fine. OK, either one's fine.
- 29:32So this is from a Sprott Money article from 2021, and you can
- 29:36see that about 21% of silver demand that year went into
- 29:40jewelry. And a lot of jewelry, you know,
- 29:44has been made over time. Now the thing with jewelry is as
- 29:49stackers that that we need to keep in mind, jewelry has
- 29:52usually has a markup of about 300%, you know, So this is
- 29:57something that you know, you can enjoy.
- 29:59And I'm not saying not to get jewelry or to get jewelry.
- 30:03This isn't financial advice. But when it comes to investors,
- 30:07they're going to get a lot more silver per dollar they spend
- 30:11with investment grade silver with, you know, 3 or 4 nines
- 30:14fine bullion. So that's likely what they're
- 30:17going to go after. And not a whole lot of it goes
- 30:21into investment grade coins and bars.
- 30:24As you can see here in this chart, it's only about 18%.
- 30:27Yeah, that's what caught my attention.
- 30:29Only 8. This was 2021, but I know it's
- 30:32roughly the same right now that only one in five of every one in
- 30:37one in five of every oz that is I guess demanded during the
- 30:43course of the year. Only 20% of it roughly is going
- 30:46into coins and bars, correct? Yes, that's correct.
- 30:51And I I think that this chart really lets us see, if you can
- 30:54imagine, I thought a whole bunch of people started piling in to
- 30:58silver at the same time, you know, why the market can get so
- 31:02cornered so quickly like the examples you had given earlier?
- 31:06Yeah. Because you got 1, you got you
- 31:10got one. I can't.
- 31:11I don't have a voice. You have one in five people are
- 31:13one in five. Oz only going to the investment
- 31:16and hold on one second. Yeah, you bet.
- 31:20And on top of that, we are in a different world right now than
- 31:25any other time in history when it comes to buying silver for
- 31:29your average retail investor because news spread so quickly,
- 31:33number one, right. And so we get these situations
- 31:37that pop up and instead of watch hearing about it on the five O
- 31:41clock Evening News or at the water cooler at work, people get
- 31:45instant information. But what's even crazier Brian
- 31:48and why and why these the inventories can get can get
- 31:52wiped out immediately is because in 19 80 when silver went to $50
- 31:57per oz, you had to get in your station wagon drive to the local
- 32:01coin shop waiting time to get your silver today.
- 32:05Right now you and I in the next 5 minutes could buy like 6
- 32:09monster boxes of American silver eagles online.
- 32:12You know what I mean There's no longer this like need to go to
- 32:16AI mean the coin shops are great.
- 32:17I'm not putting them down but people are able to buy stuff
- 32:20instantly as well. They get the information
- 32:22instantly and they can buy stuff instantly.
- 32:25And I think that's why you get these like Sunday nights where
- 32:28the silver inventory gets wiped out over a weekend.
- 32:31You know, we've had that a couple times as I remember in
- 32:33the last four or five years. It's a different world that
- 32:36we're. Living, yeah, it can move so
- 32:39fast nowadays. And when you see like that
- 32:43mainstream article from CNN about gold, when you start to
- 32:46see more of these articles come out about silver, that could be
- 32:50something that we'd be looking at would be, you know, a few
- 32:53100,000 people, maybe a few million people come across a
- 32:56couple of these articles or news stories.
- 32:59And if they all decide to go buy one weekend, I mean they they
- 33:02could wipe it out basically instantly.
- 33:05Yeah. And we don't even need that.
- 33:06We buy, I buy. So the silver I bought over the
- 33:09years is for a long term generational investment.
- 33:11But the reality is that, right that we've got this massive
- 33:14deficit, we've got a very delicate retail investment
- 33:19market that can get that can get like wiped out in in an hour or
- 33:24a day, which is has proven to be the case.
- 33:27I mean, it's whether for me, whether I'm looking at a short
- 33:31term or long term. I, you know, now that I'm
- 33:33talking to you and I've been, I'm thinking about the soccer
- 33:36field or football field. With that, I mean, I feel I feel
- 33:39even better about the fact that I love silver.
- 33:41Brian, thank you. You bet.
- 33:43Absolutely. And you know what?
- 33:46What I think is important to bring up too is silver is unique
- 33:51and replacing it might not be as easy as it seems.
- 33:55If you can imagine today virtually all electronic devices
- 33:58have a little silver in them. So it's in all of our TV's, our
- 34:02remote controls, it's in our computers and our smartphones,
- 34:06all of our phones. It's, and it's not much, it's
- 34:08about .34 grams in each smartphone, but it's also in
- 34:14electric cars, printed circuit boards and electrical contacts.
- 34:18So we're all using a little bit of silver to watch YouTube right
- 34:21now. It's in our computers, we're
- 34:23using it to communicate with each other.
- 34:25So it's in it's in everything. And redesigning all of these
- 34:31devices to use something else would be very challenging for
- 34:34these companies. And you know, something that the
- 34:38Silver Hermit had pointed out, this isn't something that
- 34:40they're going to want to do. So the the price will need to
- 34:43move up a lot more before they actually try and do that.
- 34:46So the demand for silver in industry isn't going to go away
- 34:48anytime soon. Before they that's called
- 34:51thrifting. Thrifting, like they get thrifty
- 34:54and they try to reduce the amount of silver and they tried
- 34:56that with solar panels and it when I understand it didn't work
- 34:59out too well and we didn't even talk about solar panels or or
- 35:03right these new batteries that Samsung is apparently going to
- 35:07be rolling out in Toyota's Lexus brand I think next year.
- 35:10It's that soon the solid-state batteries that the reports we're
- 35:14getting are going to use almost like what a kilogram of of
- 35:19silver there are. But a 30 oz roughly what's what
- 35:23it Yeah. Is that right?
- 35:25Per per battery and, and those things are, are really cool.
- 35:29I mean, they're, they're talking about a nine to 10 minute charge
- 35:32time and a 600 mile travel distance for electric cars with
- 35:36those, which I think will really change the electric car
- 35:39industry. If you can imagine, you know,
- 35:42driving for, I don't know, six hours or whatever and you stop
- 35:47for 9 or 10 minutes at the gas station.
- 35:49That's a pretty typical stop at a gas station.
- 35:53You might use the bathroom, wander around, get some food and
- 35:55something you'd come out and your car would be charged.
- 35:58So it would be very similar to the gas powered cars today.
- 36:02A lot of these electric cars, people have to end up sitting
- 36:06there for hours after only going 300 miles.
- 36:09Yeah, I saw. One of my neighbors one morning
- 36:11I was getting Donuts with my daughters at the grocery store
- 36:14and he pulled up and I was Tesla.
- 36:15I didn't even know it was my neighbor.
- 36:17And I'm like, that's a nice looking car.
- 36:18One of those older what did like the Model S, the high end one.
- 36:22And and I said, OK, I said, how do you like that Tesla?
- 36:25And he said, well, I really loved it at first.
- 36:27He said. But honestly?
- 36:29And he even told me, you know, he expressed he loved it still,
- 36:32but he expressed some, some frustration.
- 36:34And he was like, when I go on a road trip, I have to stop and
- 36:38sleep in the back seat while the while the car's charging right
- 36:42in these, in these new solid-state batteries charge in
- 36:46like a fraction of the time. That's what I've heard, like 9
- 36:48or 10 minutes. They're wider.
- 36:52That they go longer and they're actually safer too, right?
- 36:55These the there's a problem with these electric cars and fires
- 36:59the the the the the risk of that.
- 37:02Yes, that's correct. Yeah, I've, I've seen a couple
- 37:06where, you know, people caught footage of them burning.
- 37:11Yeah. So what?
- 37:12About the Russians. Are the Russians coming for us,
- 37:14Brian? The silver.
- 37:16Are the Russians coming? Yeah, yes, they are.
- 37:19What's? The biggest news story in the
- 37:21history of the. Universe for silver, the
- 37:22Russians are coming. Yeah, that's that's a really big
- 37:251. And I just wanted to make one
- 37:27more point on industry. Now I'm afraid of the Russians,
- 37:30but go ahead, I'll let you go. Ahead, I'm very concerned about
- 37:35what they're doing. This is an example.
- 37:38Gold could be a good replacement for silver for electrical
- 37:41contacts, but gold cost $2750 an ounce.
- 37:46So they're not going to try and replace gold with silver for
- 37:50electrical contacts anytime soon.
- 37:51So I think silver has a very firm place in industry and and
- 37:57that demand for industry is going to stay there.
- 37:59Let's look at the gold to silver ratio then we're going to get to
- 38:02the Russians. But this are are you showing on
- 38:04this chart here like the average gold to silver ratio over some
- 38:10of the past years, is that what we're looking at?
- 38:13Yes, that's correct. So this is the gold to silver
- 38:15ratio over the last 20 years and I drew a line in right about 55
- 38:21to one for the gold to silver ratio.
- 38:25And I do want to say it's, it's great to see silver breaking out
- 38:28or back over 34 this morning. I know on days like this, a lot
- 38:33of folks can wonder where silver's price could go.
- 38:36And when thinking about silver's price potential, I like to look
- 38:40back over time and, you know, look at charts like this.
- 38:43And I also like to consider the gold to silver ratio, as you can
- 38:49see, but by where I drew that line in the past 20 years,
- 38:52there's been a pretty decent amount of time that silver has
- 38:56been at or below 55 to one. And if it was at 55 to 1 today,
- 39:02that would make silver's price about $50.00 an ounce.
- 39:06Now I'm not sure where gold's price would be, you know if what
- 39:10you know when we get back to this 55 to one ratio, but it
- 39:13would probably be higher than that.
- 39:16Yes. So that's a good point.
- 39:18I mean right now because I did it on my before you, I did
- 39:20checked it on my calculator as well.
- 39:22If we had a 55 to one gold to silver ratio, we would be at $50
- 39:28silver. A 55 to one gold to silver ratio
- 39:31from any historic perspective, the last probably 20 years, 30
- 39:36years is not out of the question.
- 39:39It's actually very reasonable. And that would be $50 silver
- 39:44right now. But if you go back, and I'm not
- 39:46going to bore everyone by pulling it up, but I've got
- 39:49these long term gold to silver ratio charts from like the
- 39:52Polyphonesians and the Roman Empire.
- 39:55And even up until let's say like a hundred, 150 years ago, the
- 39:59numbers were more like 8:00 to 1:00 or 12:00 to 1:00 or 15 to
- 40:03one. Sometimes it was like 3 to one,
- 40:05right? If it was 3:00 to 1:00, we'd
- 40:07have $900. Right, absolutely.
- 40:11And I do like to say this when when I come into the basement,
- 40:15when Saint Louis was the king of France, the gold to silver ratio
- 40:19was 12:50. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:22So that's something folks can think about when they when they
- 40:24join you in the basement. And of course we see it that it
- 40:28got all the way down to 40 to one on this chart in the last 15
- 40:33years. So I, I agree with your
- 40:36conclusion. The 55 to one is very
- 40:38reasonable. We could see it get down to 40
- 40:41to one. And you know, if it was at that,
- 40:46at that ratio right now, that would make silver's price about
- 40:49$68.75. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's not AI
- 40:55think the key is it's not out of the question.
- 40:58It's not unreasonable. It's not crazy talk to say that
- 41:01we should have $50 silver or that we should have, you know,
- 41:06these higher prices. People think, oh, you're you're
- 41:08a pumper or you're this like, no, I'm just looking at actual
- 41:12numbers, looking at the data. What about the fact that during
- 41:15the 1970s, right, which wasn't that long ago, I was alive.
- 41:19I'm not that old yet, but during the 1970s, silver went from
- 41:23$1.50 all the way to $50 per oz. That's like, I don't know, 30
- 41:27times, almost more than 30 times.
- 41:29I mean, this is this. It's not out of the question.
- 41:32I heard somebody say something very interesting about that
- 41:341970s run. And it was people like with gold
- 41:38will say, yeah, but you couldn't own gold and until 1976, which
- 41:42blows my mind. But our 75 when whoever, any
- 41:45President Ford made it legal to own gold again.
- 41:48But you could own silver during that period.
- 41:50So that. That explosion.
- 41:53And in price was not because of this new found ability for
- 41:56people to be able to own physical silver.
- 42:00You know, I mean, these these returns, I know and I'm not, you
- 42:03know, look, I mean, it seems crazy to think even $50 silver,
- 42:08I understand feels like a a little crazy.
- 42:10But when you just look at numbers and in recent, recent
- 42:13history, right, we're not going back to BCD, no, not that long
- 42:18ago, right? And you know, but I think we've
- 42:20been, we've been so conditioned into this system over the last
- 42:26number of decades. I'll say that politically
- 42:28correctly that, that to think that the silver price of the,
- 42:32you know, I mean, you know, look at what the look at, look at
- 42:35the, the price of Microsoft stock went up 10X over the last
- 42:3815 years or more, right? Why can't?
- 42:41Why can't silver go up 10X? Yeah, absolutely.
- 42:44We've been traumatized by the activities on the commodities
- 42:47exchange in the paper market. And so people don't don't
- 42:50believe it's possible. But these are facts and and this
- 42:54is from recent history and this can happen.
- 42:57And one more little tidbit on the amount of silver that's
- 42:59available. They say that if you evenly
- 43:02divided all of the available bullion grades, so 3 nines finer
- 43:06finer silver evenly among all people, everyone would get what
- 43:12about one silver half dollar? That's about how much silver is
- 43:18available per person. About 1/2.
- 43:20In the world. In the world, yeah, if you if
- 43:23you divided it among all 8 billion people on the planet.
- 43:26So less than 1/2 ounce basically?
- 43:29Yeah, less than 1/2 ounce per person.
- 43:30One of these per person. Wow, looks like you got them
- 43:33beat. I'm I'm a little head of the
- 43:37power curve. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:39So, so, so with everything going on, right, with the silver
- 43:42market, everything going on in the world right now, right, we
- 43:46get these major developments news, big news couple weeks ago
- 43:51from Russia. What did you hear?
- 43:53What did you read into this, this report that the Russian
- 43:56government, the Russian Central Bank, is not only going to be
- 43:59buying gold and some other metals, but also going to be
- 44:01buying silver? Well, I think it's really
- 44:05interesting. For the first time, Russia has
- 44:08explicitly mentioned that one of the reserve assets it's going to
- 44:13be purchasing in its recently outlined budget is silver.
- 44:18The Russian Central Bank is planning on continuing to add
- 44:21gold, platinum, Palladium, I believe, and for the first time,
- 44:26silver to their list. Yeah, this is an entirely
- 44:32unprecedented. In the past, the US government,
- 44:36you know, has had has bought silver.
- 44:38The central banks in India and Mexico have previously held
- 44:41silver as reserves. But this is all new for Russia.
- 44:47And Russia, and Russia is kind of the leader of the pack when
- 44:50it comes to obviously de dollarization, development of
- 44:55the bricks, development of the bricks with the kind of their
- 44:57own payment systems, their own. I mean, it's a big, it's hard to
- 45:01get a firm grasp on what's really going on.
- 45:03But what we do know is going on is that Russia and the United
- 45:07States are enemies at this point.
- 45:09And, and that Russia is I, I feel like kind of the de facto
- 45:14leader of the BRICS movement, which is explicitly stated they
- 45:19want to move away from the dollar.
- 45:21So when we hear Russia saying, oh, and, oh, by the way, now
- 45:24we're going to start buying silver now, you know, we don't
- 45:26know how much and we don't want to overplay this or, you know,
- 45:29get too fantastic about it. But when we consider all the
- 45:34aforementioned points and then also consider that they
- 45:37explicitly said in writing that we are going to buy silver,
- 45:41that's a big deal in my book. That's a big deal for.
- 45:44Silver and silver investors. Yeah, it, I mean, you know,
- 45:49they're a big government that the, the IMF has recently
- 45:52upgraded Russia to the world's fourth largest economy.
- 45:56So depending on how much they buy, I mean, they, they could,
- 46:00they could really 'cause the, the silver squeeze to get going
- 46:05if they buy enough. And and of course, they would
- 46:07have the funds to apply the level of pressure on the silver
- 46:11market needed if they chose to, you know, to to really 'cause
- 46:15the silver squeeze to break out. And you're and you're forgetting
- 46:20something, Brian. You're forgetting something
- 46:22very. Important.
- 46:24What was that? Yeah, the Room X.
- 46:26Have you heard of the Room X or the Room X?
- 46:29Yeah, the new exchange they're talking about.
- 46:31Yeah, Yeah. I'm not too familiar with it
- 46:33next yet, but but that, that is really interesting.
- 46:38Yeah, there's a Reuters article that that that they've
- 46:41explicitly have said now they are definitely going to start
- 46:44their own metals exchange because basically they're fed up
- 46:48with the COMEX and the LBMA. They're fed up with how you know
- 46:53price discovery is has been achieved within the metals
- 46:56markets over the last several decades.
- 47:00Well, I, I think that that, you know, that's going to make the
- 47:03Western governments really uncomfortable.
- 47:05They've had the power position as far as using the paper
- 47:09markets as a price setting mechanism.
- 47:13I think it's 797,000,000 paper oz that they're short right now.
- 47:22And, and so, you know, that's almost a A1 year supply of
- 47:26silver that gets mined. You know, they say it's about
- 47:29850 million oz. So, so that's an impressive
- 47:32amount of pressure that they're able to put on the silver market
- 47:35without having to have much exposure to the physical metal
- 47:40or, you know, whether it's in an approved vault or they're
- 47:42borrowing it from someone or, or anything like that.
- 47:46They, they just don't even have it.
- 47:48They they estimate it's 408 contracts for everyone.
- 47:51Oz. Yeah, yeah, it's crazy.
- 47:54Yeah. Let's run out right now and take
- 47:55a look. We need to take our date.
- 47:56We got to go on a field trip. Brian, you want to come with us
- 47:59here? Let's go.
- 48:00We're going to we're going to go out to the US debt clock and
- 48:03let's pull up that number that you just talked about, which is
- 48:08down here. Yeah, 409 paper to silver ratio
- 48:12right now is 409 to one. There's 409 paper Unicorn fart
- 48:17dust, whatever you want to call it, make believe electronic
- 48:20claims on each one ounce of silver.
- 48:23That'd be like if you ordered, you ordered a Big Mac from
- 48:26McDonald's and you showed up at the drive through to get
- 48:29delivery and they said, sorry, we sold that same Big Mac 409
- 48:32times. We didn't think you were.
- 48:34We didn't think you were really going to show up, Brian.
- 48:36I I like that example. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:39Here is the other one I've been pointing out a lot.
- 48:41The dollar, I don't know if you've been following this, the
- 48:43dollar to silver ratio is now sitting at 945.
- 48:48And what that means is for each one ounce of silver that's mined
- 48:52every year, that's produced every year for each one ounce,
- 48:56OK, there's 945 paper dollars being created via the M2 money
- 49:02supply, which measures like bank accounts and, and money market
- 49:06accounts and all that. That's astounding, right?
- 49:09And that number's been skyrocketing.
- 49:11Last week, it went from like 700 all the way up to 900.
- 49:15And just like a year ago, there was all this fervor in the
- 49:18silver and gold community because that number was actually
- 49:20at 0 for a little while. So the government is massively
- 49:24expanding the money supply as of late, and unfortunately they
- 49:28can't massively expand the silver supply at the same time.
- 49:32That's, that's a good point. I remember it being at zero and
- 49:35there was a bunch of posts online about it and people were
- 49:37talking about what it meant and everything.
- 49:40So yeah, they they, they have. Really.
- 49:41Yeah, it got it. Got huge play in the YouTube
- 49:44silver and gold community. You know, one more thing about
- 49:48Russia, I want to show you real quick, I, I discovered this the
- 49:52other day is because we were talking about Russia with
- 49:54silver. So the US, our debt right now is
- 49:5735 trillion, which I want to remind everyone 11 trillion is
- 50:03equal to 1,000,000 * 1,000,000. So we've got 1,000,000 *
- 50:071,000,035 times as our national debt.
- 50:11But if so, I we're at about, we'll say 36 trillion.
- 50:15We got to the world. That clock shows all the
- 50:18different countries. And when you look at Russia, I
- 50:21pointed this out yesterday, look at Russia down here that now
- 50:25they're, they're GDP and everything is a fraction of ours
- 50:28as well. But just in terms of debt, there
- 50:31are $435 billion in debt. It that that's like 1.3% of what
- 50:37we have in the United States. Wow, so that they're being a lot
- 50:42more careful with not letting their debt get out of control.
- 50:46Yes, yeah, yeah, it's crazy. It's.
- 50:48Managing their money much better.
- 50:49Maybe that's part of the reason they just got upgraded to the
- 50:52world's fourth largest economy, according to the IMF.
- 50:56Yep, Yep, Yep. And all this bricks development,
- 50:58Yeah, they're the IMF says they're the but based on PPP
- 51:02purchasing power parity. They also say that China's
- 51:06economy and by that's this is the IMF.
- 51:08China's economy is actually number one in that ranking.
- 51:12I think it goes China, United States and maybe was India in
- 51:17there. It was three of the bricks,
- 51:18three of the four bricks and then and then Russia as well.
- 51:21So it's getting crazy. You want to stick around here
- 51:24for a few more minutes, Brian, while we wrap things I got, I
- 51:26want to show some banking, some crazy data about how the banks,
- 51:31you know, could potentially fail in this country.
- 51:33You got a few minutes. To stick around?
- 51:34You bet. Absolutely.
- 51:35OK, hold on one second. Let me let me pull you up on the
- 51:38screen with this. I found this last night and it
- 51:44just blew me away the amount of unrealized make sure I got this
- 51:48up, which I don't. Here we go, unrealized bank
- 51:51losses, breaking news from bar chart.
- 51:54OK, the US banks are now sitting on real estate losses.
- 51:58OK, Real estate losses of $750 billion as of the end of the
- 52:04third quarter. So as of September 30th, 2024,
- 52:06seven 150 billion losses, that is 7 times larger than the total
- 52:14was during the great financial crisis, which was brought on by
- 52:19a, by a collapse in the real estate market.
- 52:22Does that Is that shocking or what?
- 52:24Yeah, that's, that's very shocking and and it it's really
- 52:27concerning. You know, a lot of this was
- 52:31brought started to come to the attention of the public when
- 52:34they were doing the rate hiking cycle and you know, they've only
- 52:38gone down 50 basis points or or half a percent, you know.
- 52:43Oh, no, I got some. I got the I'm going to, I'm
- 52:45going to, I'm going to really scare you, Brian, in a few
- 52:47minutes, but go ahead. You're right.
- 52:49But I got to know something else that we need that you and I and
- 52:51the viewer need to think about in that regard.
- 52:53And I'm sorry I interrupted you, but go, go ahead.
- 52:56Oh yeah, no sweat at all. So some of these loans for these
- 53:00these big commercial properties, these big office buildings that
- 53:04have these really high vacancy rates right now are still going
- 53:07to be they're going to need to be getting refinanced even in
- 53:12the time period we're in now. You know, occasionally it's
- 53:14going to come up and the interest rates for them, you
- 53:18know, they haven't gone down that much, not enough to make a
- 53:21difference at this point. So we're really in in quite a
- 53:25pickle. I know a lot of folks felt like
- 53:27they should have kept raising rates for longer and that they
- 53:31kind of, you know, capitulated probably to pressure from Wall
- 53:34Street and started lowering rates before they should have
- 53:37just to stimulate the economy. But now, you know, we could be
- 53:40facing higher inflation because of that.
- 53:42And then we're we're still going to have a problem with some of
- 53:44these these big buildings. So it's really concerning.
- 53:48Yeah. And you bring up, you brought up
- 53:49a great point, OK, because there's two big problems that
- 53:52the banks have. They've got their problems with
- 53:55their unrealized losses on their bond portfolios, OK, that's
- 53:59number one. Number 2 is what we just talked
- 54:02about. They've got big unrealized
- 54:05losses on these property loans. I mean, these buildings, there's
- 54:09one in Saint Louis, the AT&T building, and they're selling
- 54:11for some of these buildings are selling like for a nickel on the
- 54:14dollar because nobody wants them.
- 54:16There's just big empty building. What are you going to do with
- 54:18it? Nobody wants to rent it.
- 54:19It's just a big liability basically.
- 54:22OK. But you brought up a great
- 54:23point, Brian and that is they can hide from the bond mark
- 54:27their bond portfolio losses and I think and hide from that, but
- 54:31they can't hide from the real estate problems because as you
- 54:34brought up and I'm so happy brought that up, those get
- 54:37renewed. Those are usually 357 year
- 54:40loans. Those are those need to be
- 54:43refinanced, OK? They're forced to refinance
- 54:46those. And at that point is, I would
- 54:48understand it as someone who worked as an accountant and I
- 54:51never really like banking accounting, but I did study it
- 54:54that they're going to be forced to recognize some of these, that
- 54:57750 billion in losses over the night, cuz it rolls, right?
- 55:01Like there's going to be a certain amount of those loans
- 55:03that need to be refinanced this year.
- 55:05And they're going to be like, oh, crud, you know, we loaned
- 55:08this guy 100 million on this property, but it's only worth 13
- 55:12million now. Whoa, whoa.
- 55:14We, we got a, you know, I mean, and all those will every day,
- 55:18every day more and more that will be kind of manifested as
- 55:22they have to renew those loans that I don't see the commercial
- 55:25real real estate market getting any better.
- 55:28But on top of all those losses, there's massive losses on their
- 55:33bonds. And then there's something even
- 55:35crazier if you think about this on their bond portfolio, right?
- 55:38Because they, they bought, they took Brian, your bank took your
- 55:41money three years ago and said, thank you Brian, for depositing
- 55:45$250,000 with us. And they take that money and
- 55:49they bought U.S. Treasuries at the time we're
- 55:51paying 3% and they thought, well, we'll pay Brian nothing
- 55:54and we'll make 3 percent. Everything's hunky Dory until
- 55:58interest rates went up, at which time the value of those bonds
- 56:02went way down, right? And so they're sitting on that.
- 56:06But here's, here's the last point I want to make that, that
- 56:09that is, is a reality of what's going on right now.
- 56:13Interest rates, I know everybody says, oh, interest rates are
- 56:15going down. No, interest rates have gone up
- 56:17by 1/2 percent over the last month.
- 56:19The 10 year Treasury bond has gone up from like 3.75 to 4.25.
- 56:26So that is is going to exacerbate many of these
- 56:29problems in the commercial real estate arena and with these
- 56:34massive unrealized losses because every when interest
- 56:37rates go up, the value of bonds go down.
- 56:39You aren't going to walk into your bank.
- 56:40I always tell everybody you aren't going to walk into your
- 56:42local bank. They're going to have a big
- 56:44placard up telling you about the platinum checking and the gold
- 56:47checking. They always name their checking
- 56:48accounts after precious metals, I've noticed.
- 56:50But anyway, they aren't going to have a big placard up saying,
- 56:53hey, we just want to warn you, our bond portfolio has lost 35%
- 56:57of its value in the last year, you know these.
- 57:01Banks. Are they're hiding it?
- 57:03It's Disneyland. It's Disneyland accounting.
- 57:06The banking industry is living in La La land.
- 57:09It's it's I, I've heard somebody call it this back during the
- 57:12great financial crisis. It's Disneyland accounting.
- 57:16You know, it'd be like, it'd be like you, Brian, if, if, if, if
- 57:20you know Grandpa Eddie or Uncle Eddie, you know, you inherited
- 57:26$1,000,000 from your wife's grandpa or uncle, whatever.
- 57:30And your wife said here, Brian, do something with this.
- 57:31And you bought a bunch of stocks and what not.
- 57:34They went down by 40% and you're like, oh boy, we're in trouble.
- 57:38We lost 400 grand, but you're like you just you, you just tell
- 57:42your wife, well, we don't have to worry about it.
- 57:43We don't, you know, we don't have to worry about till we sell
- 57:45it. No, it's real, right?
- 57:47Because if you wanted to sell, you'd have the loss.
- 57:49But you could just be living in La La Land saying, well, it's
- 57:52everything's OK, everything's great.
- 57:54And that's what the banks are doing right there in La La Land.
- 57:57But I digress. I mean, I've heard some smart
- 58:00people like Lynette Zhang and other people say basically all
- 58:03the banks are are, are illiquid, right?
- 58:06I mean, they're, they're broke. But.
- 58:08Because they can just kind of, you know, meander along and not
- 58:13have to really recognize what the real problem is.
- 58:17They're able to stay afloat. And you know, every as long as
- 58:19like, you know, like that JP Morgan article I read earlier,
- 58:23as long as everybody has confidence and trust in the
- 58:25banking system because the Fed will be there to to save the
- 58:28day. But, well, I guess if Ron Paul
- 58:33has his way or, or the 23 supporters of that bill now, you
- 58:38know, that might not be the case.
- 58:40Yeah, thank you for sharing your insight on that.
- 58:42And I I do think that that's really important for people to
- 58:45realize, you know, just because they're still sitting on it
- 58:49doesn't mean those losses aren't real.
- 58:50If someone bought, let's say Dogecoin, that crypto at the
- 58:54peak of its bubble and they're still sitting on it, well, the
- 58:58reality is they're not going to be able to turn around and sell
- 59:00it for 5 bucks or whatever it went up to.
- 59:02They're going to have to sell it for the dollar that it is today.
- 59:05And, and so those losses are real.
- 59:07And and when you, as you used me for an example, if my wife
- 59:11really put her foot down and was like no, go pull the money out
- 59:13of that, then I would have to. You you would.
- 59:17Realize. A lot.
- 59:18Yeah, I've lost a bunch of the money.
- 59:19Yeah, Yeah, it's only worth a fraction of what it was
- 59:22previously. And so that's the position the
- 59:24banks are in. Trust me, I've bought plenty of
- 59:26stocks that have gone down 40% over the years.
- 59:29Some have gone up 40%, but I've bought the ones that have gone
- 59:31down 40% over the years. And whether I've sold it or not,
- 59:36those losses are real. You know, I mean, right they
- 59:40are, they are so. Absolutely.
- 59:42And I really liked your example of the bank.
- 59:44You know, they're not going to have a placard and they're
- 59:46saying that whatever bank, you know, had to deal with that AT&T
- 59:52building that you were talking about, for example, that had to
- 59:54deal with that situation, they're not going to tell any of
- 59:56their clients. Oh yeah, we, we were the ones
- 59:59that had the loan on that AT&T building that lost.
- 1:00:03You know this huge amount of profit if they're going to keep
- 1:00:05that as quiet as possible. Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 1:00:09The whole, because the whole system is based on confidence.
- 1:00:11It's a paper money system. Real quickly, I want to tell
- 1:00:14everybody this is Brian's YouTube channel, Mountain
- 1:00:17Bullion. I'm always erroneously calling
