Latest / Hurdle with Emily Abbate / 5-MINUTE FRIDAY: The 2024 Finale
Transcript
- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, Emily Abadi here, you are listening to the
- 0:25Speaker 1: Last five Minute Friday of twenty twenty four. I can't
- 0:30Speaker 1: believe I've even saying this, But next week the show
- 0:33Speaker 1: goes on a two week season break, so we will
- 0:38Speaker 1: be back in full force with a special limited series
- 0:44Speaker 1: on January first to help you start off the new
- 0:47Speaker 1: year right. But until then, I'm taking a little bit
- 0:50Speaker 1: of a well deserved break. So yeah, Last five Minute
- 0:56Speaker 1: Friday of twenty twenty four. Like many of you, I
- 1:00Speaker 1: am in like full reflection mode, and I've been scrolling
- 1:05Speaker 1: through the photos of the year and reading through my
- 1:09Speaker 1: journal of this year, and I'm feeling really proud of
- 1:15Speaker 1: what I have done, who I'm becoming, and I'm getting
- 1:23Speaker 1: very clear in this time that I am still here
- 1:26Speaker 1: at home over the next couple of weeks, in this
- 1:29Speaker 1: little season break, on what I want to do in
- 1:34Speaker 1: twenty five and transparently, I think this is the longest
- 1:39Speaker 1: that I have gone without traveling in years, And as
- 1:46Speaker 1: unsettling as it feels at times, I know that this
- 1:50Speaker 1: is happening for a reason. And so as I'm sitting
- 1:55Speaker 1: here and I'm reflecting on what it is that i
- 1:57Speaker 1: want in twenty twenty five. I know that I don't
- 2:02Speaker 1: want to be forced to have the moments that I'm
- 2:05Speaker 1: having right now. I know that I want to get
- 2:08Speaker 1: a little bit more intentional about really listening to what's
- 2:12Speaker 1: going on instead of masking it with all of this travel.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And I know that I want to set clear and
- 2:18Speaker 1: realistic goals going into new Year that really home in
- 2:24Speaker 1: on my why that really matter to me. And this
- 2:27Speaker 1: is the most common thing I tell people when it
- 2:30Speaker 1: comes to goal setting is you cannot set a goal
- 2:36Speaker 1: that does not have a strong why. Period. You cannot
- 2:40Speaker 1: set a goal that doesn't have a strong why, because
- 2:43Speaker 1: I will tell you what happens when you do that
- 2:45Speaker 1: is that you're not going to follow through. And so
- 2:49Speaker 1: when you're thinking about the things that you want to
- 2:51Speaker 1: achieve in the next three sixty five, I encourage you
- 2:57Speaker 1: to ask yourself what matters to me? What are my values?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Who do I want to become? And am I acting
- 3:04Speaker 1: in a way that makes that version of myself proud? Okay?
- 3:11Speaker 1: For me personally, I really really really really want twenty
- 3:16Speaker 1: twenty six probably to be the year that I buy
- 3:19Speaker 1: a home, which means that twenty twenty five goals for
- 3:23Speaker 1: me have a lot to do with finances, have a
- 3:26Speaker 1: lot to do with budgeting, have a lot to do
- 3:29Speaker 1: with spreading myself in ways that maybe I haven't tried before,
- 3:35Speaker 1: desiring a different outcome, knowing that if nothing changes, nothing changes.
- 3:40Speaker 1: And it feels a little scary jumping into the unknown,
- 3:45Speaker 1: but it also feels really purposeful for me because I
- 3:49Speaker 1: have a strong why. And so on this last five
- 3:54Speaker 1: minute Friday of twenty twenty four, I want to ask
- 3:58Speaker 1: you what is it that you want to achieve in
- 4:02Speaker 1: twenty twenty five and what is one thing you're proud
- 4:06Speaker 1: of yourself for doing in twenty twenty four? What is
- 4:10Speaker 1: one thing that you want to achieve in twenty twenty five,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and what is one thing that you are proud of
- 4:16Speaker 1: yourself for doing in twenty twenty four? And now a
- 4:21Speaker 1: listener question. Hey Emily, I love Hurdle. It's been my
- 4:25Speaker 1: go to podcast for years through a lot of transitions
- 4:28Speaker 1: in my life. Thank you for all that you do.
- 4:31Speaker 1: My question is do you have any favorite hair products
- 4:34Speaker 1: for preventing greasiness after running or working out? I exercise
- 4:38Speaker 1: something like five days a week and I tend to
- 4:40Speaker 1: get really sweaty. I've been in the habit of washing
- 4:43Speaker 1: my hair almost every day because of this, and I'm
- 4:45Speaker 1: hoping to find products to help decrease how often I
- 4:48Speaker 1: wash without altering my workouts. Thank you so much, we
- 4:52Speaker 1: love this question. I absolutely swear swear. Swear swear. Buy
- 4:57Speaker 1: the R and Co. Dry shampoo. It's called Death Valley.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I will link it in the show notes. I like
- 5:05Speaker 1: you work out a lot, and I don't wash my
- 5:09Speaker 1: hair every day, I will wet it most days. So
- 5:12Speaker 1: while I won't shampoo every day, I'll wet it a
- 5:15Speaker 1: lot of days. And what I learned from my hairstylist
- 5:20Speaker 1: at the salon was that I should not be putting
- 5:25Speaker 1: it back into a low bun wet, so a lot
- 5:29Speaker 1: of the time I will either put dry shampoo in
- 5:31Speaker 1: it and let it air dry, or I'll rinse it
- 5:34Speaker 1: and then do like a quick light rough blow dry.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And that way I can avoid keep styling my hair
- 5:41Speaker 1: all the time and also make sure I am fresh
- 5:45Speaker 1: and clean to go about all of the things that
- 5:47Speaker 1: I want to do. So while it might not be,
- 5:50Speaker 1: you know, the most attractive thing, just to go dry
- 5:52Speaker 1: shampoo after a workout, I would say that I probably
- 5:56Speaker 1: do that two days a week. I probably wash my
- 5:59Speaker 1: hair three days a week, and the rest of it
- 6:03Speaker 1: is kind of a hodgepodge let's see how we can
- 6:06Speaker 1: get by kind of situation. But yeah, that one dry
- 6:09Speaker 1: shampoo is my go to. I absolutely love it and
- 6:14Speaker 1: just trying to let it air dry or avoid heat
- 6:18Speaker 1: styling as much as possible. That's it for this week again,
- 6:23Speaker 1: so grateful for all of the hurdlers, for all of
- 6:26Speaker 1: your support. In twenty twenty four. We will be back
- 6:30Speaker 1: victoriously on January first with season Oh my god, seventeen
- 6:38Speaker 1: eight years of hurdle absolutely wild, another hurdle conquered. Catch
- 6:46Speaker 1: you guys next time.
