- 1:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, we'll take it though.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_04]: You know, but you know, it's a busy summer for you guys You know up on the island and enjoying yourself up in Amity and how's it been?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: How are the sharks sharks?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: There was a shark attack actually on Jones Beach here.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: Are you serious last week?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: They have some dude get his like foot ripped off or something.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's not but it was now not good not good at all But it's good, man.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: I've only been to the beach like once or twice so far, but the weather's been kind of crappy the last couple days Been raining a lot, but but we're enjoying it, man.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's like just relaxing not being in the city, you know, it's a change Not changing all the horns.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's nice.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: I have a question for you that
- 1:55[SPEAKER_03]: Did you go the white party?
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: I did go to the white, no, I'm just kidding.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: I did not go to the white party.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_03]: I just couldn't make it this year.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's so funny, man.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, you know, because we, of course, with our, you know, connections in the hobby and being any shows and stuff, we've, you know, gotten a connect with Mike Mayhand, of course, we had him on the podcast.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_04]: And then, you know, had met Rubin and a number of times.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_04]: And a buddy of mine was like,
- 2:17[SPEAKER_04]: Did you see the white party or whatever and I was like, oh, yeah, it's all white party.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_04]: He was telling shades like dude, you know you've made it when you go to the white party.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, okay, cool.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_04]: That's on my list.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I mean, it'd be cool to be there, but at the same time, dude, that's just a lot of celebs and ego in one place.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, let me tell you something to find it.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_03]: If I ever got the invite to that party, I don't I obviously go, but like I'd feel really uncomfortable there.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'd be sorry.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: Is that guy?
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I'd be very out of my elephant.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'd be very self-conscious of like I'm nobody here You know, I would just like I'd feel big dogs.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know, big times.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, or you could just be like There's a great Kenny Chesney song.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_04]: I can't think of the name up it right now.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yes Called we went out last night and I know you probably don't know who Kenny Chesney is, but anyway He's a huge genius.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know the song, but I know who Kenny Chesney is
- 3:07[SPEAKER_04]: is called we went out last night and basically the whole premise of the song is like he makes up stories about who he is at the bar to like you know do this thing and uh anyway it that's what i would have to do at a white party it's like who are you it's like yeah i invented a tech company and you know what i invented insurance i invented insurance yes it is it is mine have a patent on insurance
- 3:29[SPEAKER_04]: And so anyway, man, it was funny because I saw it and it was like, you know, we're kind of around the corner somewhere for where you were and I was like, I bet curms like in the background just sitting there.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_04]: Hey guys.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, no.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: Watched from afar.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_04]: Good, man.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_04]: Well dude, catch us up.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_04]: Catch us up.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_04]: Give us a kind of quick recap on the week and live out to the same.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_04]: And then we'll dive in the day.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_04]: We want to talk a little bit about the all-star selections.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_04]: Talk a little bit about some prospects and, you know, kind of a resurgence here in some activity in the Bowman world.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know, card wise like I'm really not doing much, which is like kind of cool, you know, like I'm really I'm following prospects like none other, you know, it honestly I'm not not to go like this.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm on my app constantly just looking at numbers like that's the best way for me to keep up with stuff and with these guys, but I mean, I'm
- 4:17[SPEAKER_03]: I've had it with Major League Baseball because of the Metz, they just absolutely suck, and it's like, it's really freaking hard, man.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's so hard, they're a mess, lendorant, so to hate each other.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're going to try to trade lendor because they hate each other so much, and I don't know that they'll even be able to unload him with that contract.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, card-wise, I haven't done much, I really have not done much, but I've been keeping my eye in the market and I'm following prospects that I like.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: you know, if I do dabble or anything, it's looking at, you know, the real value buys, which like some of that, we'll get into some of those guys, you know, during the show.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: But like my, my, my, my card front is this not busy whatsoever.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: My personal life.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's been, it's been, it's been, it's been, it's been, it's been, it's been, it's been.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: Have you been selling anything, have you been cleaning anything out?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, not really, I mean, yes, but like nothing major, you know what I mean?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like, just, I've kind of been trying to tidy up the collection, you know?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't want to keep it as large, and like, I don't think I have a large collection to begin with comparably speaking to other people.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I probably have 200 slabs, which I don't think is a lot, you know?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: It may be even less than 100 slabs.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: Probably less, you know, but like there's a lot of I don't want to say crap because they're good cards, right, but like there's a lot of things I just have no use for, you know, like that don't that don't do it for me that I can make some money on that are just that's just sitting there.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's like the hardest part is going through that stuff, right?
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: And you got to figure out where exactly to sell them.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm utilizing consignment for like any raw stuff that I have laying around and even graded stuff for that matter, you know, I sell through PC, but like no, I'm not really speaking of the bets, they keep calling me right now.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: They always call me, they take it guys.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_03]: The bets are calling you, the bets are calling me like they do every day.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: Fantastic.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, hold on.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, Steve.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_04]: How bad they said?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, get you shot together.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: But like, it's, it's just figuring out, like, I'm not selling stuff.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not really selling a whole lot.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, there's stuff I would sell, but like, those are super fractures.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: Like, big cards that like, you kind of just got to,
- 6:18[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_03]: With those things, I kind of wait for the buyers to come to me once those players got hit at hot and start working out.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of the way it works for me.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: Or I'll put a feel around there.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: But otherwise, like, no, we're chilling out in the island right now.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_03]: The kids are at camp throughout the day.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm here working throughout the day at home in the home office.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I got my my business managing from afar and I'm working on a couple other things that I'm not able to share at the moment.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I I will soon hopefully.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_03]: And that's
- 6:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's really it man.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: What's going on with you.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well, yeah, I cut you off earlier You said something about like on the other front or whatever you talking about the business front Just being super busy at cards being kind of slow yeah cards are kind of slow for me right now They're kind of it's kind of cards taken a bat see for me to put it you just you got other other other endeavors out front Other endeavors out front including my actual real-life business But like other endeavors that I'm I'm working on that are taking up time where cards is on the back burner for me at the moment
- 7:16[SPEAKER_04]: You know, man, it's an interesting conversation about, you know, people talk about balance all the time, which balance is a myth because it keeps you exhausted, because you're constantly trying to juggle, you know, balance, it's not like a by level balance beam, you know, the mean it's like, it's like there's a
- 7:31[SPEAKER_04]: eight different arms of this octopus balance beam, and it's always flowing around.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_04]: It's like impossible to have balance.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_04]: And so again, I tend not to think about my life in the way of balance, and I just try to be like hyper-focused and present in what it is that I'm doing.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: run of me see I have I have a problem in that I do that as well or I try to do that as well but my my issue is that like like all of us like you as well I'm sure are wearing multiple hats throughout the day yeah yeah like I'm the father I'm the husband I'm the you know
- 8:05[SPEAKER_03]: you got that runs the business on the guy's trying to start this one and this business and you know, the guy running the app and there's just so many, there's so many different hats that I'm wearing throughout the day and like I have a problem separating that, you know what I mean?
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm not good at like I always bring business into my personal life, which I hate and I can't do and I mean, I bothers my wife, it bothers everybody around me, you know?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's like
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: and like I need to be able to.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_03]: I used to be able to, but now as, you know, kind of the more busy I get and the more I guess hungry I am for, you know, and motivated I am and I try to do more things, it's harder to separate and it's an issue.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's definitely challenging, man.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you know, the danger in it is for so many people, I think.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_04]: And this is spent, that's meant years coaching, you know, high level, you know, performers and, you know, executives and stuff.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_04]: And what happens ultimately is the identity gets tied to certain roles.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: And so you have to kind of fill that role by putting on this kind of like identity or whatever.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_04]: And then it becomes hard to separate because it's kind of ingrained in you.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_04]: And that's, you know, part of like my life over the past few years is like deconstructing a lot of those kind of identities that you put up as being this guy, you know, I mean, and it's hard because like, you know, if like an insurance in my world did if you're not the guy, the insurance guy, there's somebody that is and they're going to get the opportunities, you know, I mean, so you've got to kind of be mindful of like,
- 9:37[SPEAKER_04]: how you navigate that whole thing.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: And again, that's the epic challenge, I think of any high performing guy who has that drive and ambition because it can show him pretty quickly.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, something's gotta give.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if you have X and X in your life already, and you're adding one major thing, like something's gotta give, where are you giving up?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_04]: It's funny.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_04]: I did a bit of, you know, faith in business thing at beginning in January when we start off and talk about goals and stuff.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_04]: The title of the talk was I want less in 2026.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: And it was basically like the things that I needed to clean off my plate, you know, in 2026 in order to make way.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that's very, very interesting and we'll go on from after this thought, but you know, specifically in business, like how do you begin to empower your employees or assign tasks to employees where you can put it off of your plate and like relinquish the responsibility of that thing?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_04]: And I know from me, it's like I have a certain way that I see things or like things done or whatever.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_04]: So I have a hard time of kind of letting that go and not like,
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: not not certainly not micro managing it but being okay with the outcome.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 10:46[SPEAKER_04]: If the outcome especially if the outcome costs you opportunity, you know, absolutely.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_04]: That's the challenging part.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_04]: Unfortunately with us with little Matt and I, we've been able to do that with the card front this year, you know, kind of in our business partnership with Bubba, you know, because he's got someone that's helping manage kind of the back office and the
- 11:03[SPEAKER_04]: you know the sheets and all that kind of stuff and it keeps it organized because little Matt's not there.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_04]: I mean he's 15 and he's great at buying and selling and understand the market, but like the operational back-end is super challenging.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_04]: But all that said, man, it's been, you know, it's been a weird season, honestly like my life and I were talking the other day.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_04]: You know, one of the things that I feel a lot is how fewer and fewer friends we have, you know?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_04]: I grew up in my hometown.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_04]: I know a lot of people, but when it comes to kind of my downtown or whatever, like I don't necessarily need to have that like socialite life of the party like being the middle of everything.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_04]: And of course, the fourth of July down here is just crazy epic.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you know, everybody's here at the beach and it's just nuts or whatever.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_04]: And you start to look around you like man, like we didn't really get invited to any parties or cookouts or whatever.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like you got a big family.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_04]: And so,
- 11:53[SPEAKER_04]: I've just been really kind of like pondering this stage of life, you know, to mean in your 40s.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's like your kids are kind of becoming your friends, you know, and that's been kind of interesting.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_04]: Because it's sometimes, I'm like, man, I'd love to do like adult stuff and go like, you know, just hang out and never-sponsibility, but at the same time, it's like you said, when you get a family of seven, you don't really get the invite.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_04]: Because they're like, dude, I gotta make a Oscar run just for you.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you're crew.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_04]: So on a personal front, that's kind of been what I've been processed in lately.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_04]: And just a lot of routine, man.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_04]: You know, summertime, kids are home, and, you know, it's just, you know, wake up and kind of roll on with the day.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_04]: The agency is still growing, still doing really well.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_04]: Kind of trying to figure out how to empower some other people to step up and not have to be the primary driver, you know, of that business.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_04]: So that's been, you know, certainly on my mind.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_04]: And on the card front, man, we've just been doing exactly what we said on last week's show.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_04]: We've been pivoting and just really getting strategic about buying kind of low pop assets and being really, really keen on having the right kind of inventory.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_04]: We've liquidated most of our Bowman.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_04]: we've moved into some key vintage and, you know, key low population, kind of goat stuff.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's been so good for us, man.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we had a killer.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_04]: I think March was our largest month, as far as sales go.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_04]: And then, Erno April was, sorry, April was.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_04]: May was down a little bit, but then we came back in June and had our second largest month of the year.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_04]: So that's been really good.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_04]: And then July is setting up to be a monster as well.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_04]: We had a big big cross on a shohaio tani all aces kind of low pop as I saw that that was a cross okay It was across from what from a nine from a PSA nine.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_03]: Wow
- 13:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, so that card man Matthew did a lot of research on it and basically found that there's like one issue with those cards that keeps them from jimming and it has to do with like the back corner kind of peeling up a little bit and so he like scoured every listing he could find of those cards and found one that didn't have that back corner issue and resummit it and it worked like a charm I mean those are the nuances.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_04]: that you know are important to find that not many people can find if you know the the that that world like that little map does like that is a competitive advantage attention to yeah and it's just it's just that kind of stuff man is where he's been so good this year and like he did this thing i'm telling this is no joke dude i mean he was on the show last week or whatever so people obviously know our relationship and
- 14:22[SPEAKER_04]: you know, he's not your normal 15 year old, but he started researching a card that was a Cooper Flag Blue X Fractor.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_04]: So basically, in the top's chrome product, top's made a mistake, and they did not insert the blue X Fractors into the product.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_04]: They, they duplicated like silver prisons or something, and so they had a situation where you could mail back in.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Cooper Flag.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_04]: And you could mail back in your silver prism and they would replace it with a top-sealed Cooper Flag Blue X-Fractor.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_04]: Well, Matthew picked up on this early and basically started buying up every single Cooper Silver.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_04]: Because the gym rate, the gym rate on the card, was like 70%.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, coming out of the sealed pack.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_04]: And a PSA nine sale was like $400, but a PSA 10 sales like 1500 bucks.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_04]: And so anyway, he started scooping him up and man, we've got I think eight coming back from PSA and the ones that we basically put on auction because they were still sealed almost did like double.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_04]: So you're looking at like a $350 purchase price with the average sale right now being 700 on the raw and then the PSA 10 upside is like 1,200 net profit.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_04]: So you're like 4x in your money on a PSA 10 and you're doubling up your money on like raw auction sales.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_04]: It's just been just been nuts.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's incredible.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_04]: And so stuff like that has been like a huge win for us and just putting ourselves in a good position.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_04]: So all that said, man, I'm a little like, like, I want to go into some vintage stuff right now.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, like, do you start looking at price points, man?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, like a goutty Ruth, for example, like used to be, you could get a one in any of the goutty's for like six K, you know, five to seven K. Now do those are like 10 K across the board.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_04]: And if you're getting into a two, you're almost having to spend a few guys get one recently.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_04]: We got we got a batting PSA one, but I really want the red back in like a PSA two.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_03]: I thought you thought one of those is one.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: I thought you got the red.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: Dude, we got scanned on the we're not scanned, but we bought a red.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_04]: I think we call it a eBay or something or well, I think the guy was on eBay and we started talking to him and connected with the monogee and paid the guy and next thing you know when he went to ship the card, he shipped it like USPS and we were like, hey dude, like, can you overnight this thing or whatever and he was like,
- 16:50[SPEAKER_04]: Pulled the deal back.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, any refund of the money and I was like uh, and then next thing you know the card was sold and Relisted on another eBay account like a week later for like $2,000 more So I think what happened is he made the deal with us somebody came in with a higher number He pulled the deal with us sold it for more and then the card got relisted
- 17:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, so all that said, man, we are diving into today a couple of topics.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_04]: We want to talk about, you know, kind of a prospect of resurgence and talk a little bit about off-star break and maybe dive into, you know, thoughts moving forward on the year.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_04]: But to current, I'll let you kind of lead the way on this deal.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, like real brief, like briefly, the All Star, the All Star game obviously the selections have been made, the rosters are how there's there's always snubs like there is every year, but like what I want to talk about and we I feel like I think about this every year the fact that there's still fan voting boggles my mind with this because so much of baseball's like future like future thought about how you look at a player for all of fame or like how they're
- 17:58[SPEAKER_03]: their legacy is stacked up right you talk about the piece it's more individual statistics as opposed to championships like there isn't MBA right like it's like how many MVPs how many gold gloves how many silver slugger were how many all star appearances right and like it's just the all star appearances thing like you haven't you're having sand's vote and it's just popularity contest and like I'm I'm stating the obvious here right but like some of these guys are just so undeserving
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, give me an example.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: Flatty.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: Flatty was a, in all starts like a, he actually declined the invite not because he was on deserving, but he because he needed to rest.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: But like, Flatty Guerrero, it's, it's a popular name, so he was, he was voted in.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_03]: Like, there's just, I'm trying to think of other ones as well.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_04]: Like, his Byron Buxden deserving of all, so I don't know what his staff is.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, Byron Buxden's deserving.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_04]: He's right here.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: Um, well, like, there's guys left out, like, like, Bryce Tarang, you know, he's not a popular name, but the guys, you know, guys batting 269, 12 homers, 51 ribbies, and 127, we are C plus, like, he should be an all star, you know, but he's not a popular name.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, JJ should be an all star.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_03]: Guys batting 266 with 13 ribbies and 36 are 13 homeruns and 36 ribbies at a 3.7 F4, like,
- 19:20[SPEAKER_03]: He's as a rookie like he should be in all star there's just I don't know the fact that the fans are voting is just it's it's just it's it's silly to me It's apps it's silly to make because it makes an actual impact them like this the The person's future legacy and like for guys that are having a one-off good year just because they're not all stars every year Like these guys deserve to be in it and deserve to be voted in legitimately not by fans who don't aren't paying attention to
- 19:48[SPEAKER_04]: how they actually are playing yeah exactly like they just see the name that they know and they've vote you know and that's how it works well the the thing about the all-star this interesting this year is you look at the american league infielders right and every single one of them is a first-timer every single one of them go go through it you have it you've got it hurts yeah you've got the zana right first selection you've got curts first selection mechanical first selection pin
- 20:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas if you go over to the Natty League, I'm not think these are like the infill reserves or whatever, but anyway, you've got a Reyes, which is his fourth Harper, which is his night auto Lopez, which is his first South Stewart his first and then Matt Olson his fourth.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: So you've got in the outfield on the American League, you've got Rosalina Belinger and Green, you know, who are all kind of like, you know, names that were the first basement in the American League.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_04]: uh... the starting first baseman yeah uh... this reserve thing on the go back up to american league starting first baseman but those are pitchers a first base is lattie right and Wilson contraris got snubbed right not sure since they're catching he's catching yet yeah well shayling alirs is is the starting catcher but contraris is reserved but but i think he was added as a reserve he was got you can and he's having a monster here
- 21:06[SPEAKER_04]: It's interesting too, like, I mean, you know, you start to look at, you know, like you said, some of the names, which we'll judge play.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_04]: Is he back?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, he'd be, he'd be lucky to be back sometime in August.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, maybe September.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_04]: And then, now I think show Hayes D H and or whatever, but like,
- 21:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's interesting, man, because there's a lot of early first-timers, you know, which I guess is good that you've got some new names and stuff like, yeah, but at the same time, you know, it's like you said it's interesting then to look at, okay, if these guys are all stars like how does that correlate to card value, you know, to me, I don't know the answer to that, but like just Kevin McGonagal get a bump in his card value now that he's in all star.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_04]: Boys and girls, we had a bit of a change of pace here because technology was not wanted to be kind to current as so current is mobile, but we've got the show must go on as they say.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_04]: So we are we're taking a little pivot here, but I wanted to wrap up one thought on that all-star thing, current, and then we'll dive into prospect stuff.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_04]: The question I was asking was, you know, Kevin McGonagal making the all-star game.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_04]: Does that really affect his card value?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_03]: I don't, yeah, personally I don't think so.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think his value is gonna be his value.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_03]: Just like I don't think winning a winning rookie the year or winning even MVP unless your show hey really is gonna have a difference.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: I have the piece of different story, but like, I don't think that that is gonna have an impact.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it has the impact that pipe people might think.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_03]: Like some people might be holding in being like, I'm gonna wait till he's selected till the old star game.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like I don't think that has an impact really.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think it's interesting that the whole premise of the conversation was, you know, you've got these players right who have these great seasons, but they leave some of the voting up to the fans.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_04]: And so if the fans are the ones driving some of the voting, and that's really about the hype, it's interesting that card values aren't necessarily intertwined with
- 23:00[SPEAKER_04]: fans, you know, support.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_04]: And I think it'll be interesting.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_04]: If I don't have the time or energy to do this, but I'm sure one of our listeners probably already has, if you went through the entire All-Star lineup roster, and you priced out every single person's Bowman, you know, like refractor auto,
- 23:17[SPEAKER_04]: it'd be interesting to see where everybody lands and and how you correlate values based on player based on you know organization based on position based on how many selections and all this kind of stuff it's really fascinating you know it just shows you how much the card hobby values are subjective right and then you know you got a guy like Nick Kurtz you know who who went to the moon then fell back
- 23:47[SPEAKER_04]: So that said, dude, we wanted to talk a little bit about prospects today, you know, I know that that's kind of your sweet spot where you live and we've been talking about how there's been this low right with prospects.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_04]: There's been this low in the in the market.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_04]: There's been this low with baseball in general.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_04]: But there's some prospects that are really raken right now and values are starting to pop back and I think it could be an interesting time to kind of scoop some stuff up.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_04]: So I wanted to one of this spend some time with that.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, what I've been looking at and what I've been looking at and we kind of talk briefly about this on offline all the prospects that I'm noticing that are on the on the rise right now all have one common denominator or on the rise or hot, they're either dodgers or their proers prospects.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's the truth.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_03]: Like, think about the guys that are really hot right now, Mike Sorota, absolutely crushing.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: Chase Harlan, he's an enormous buy right now.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: Look at Chase Harlan's numbers.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's insanity.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_03]: The power that he has.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: So Mike Sorota, Chase Harlan, Zyer, hope is absolutely on fire.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: Hoseway, the Paul has been having a monster season.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_03]: There's a prospect for the Dodgers, and I'm going to butcher his name to help me, Matt.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_03]: My Rochendrick?
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_03]: Do you, do you, do you know what I'm talking about?
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's a 20 year old and low-A.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's having an absolute monster monster year.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_03]: Common denominator with all those guys.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: They're Dodgers prospect right from the brewers standpoint my guy Who I'm all in on absolutely all in who I kept I kept it quiet for a while now until until I can own every every piece Braille and Antunias
- 25:24[SPEAKER_03]: The brewers absolutely loved this guy.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what I've mentioned this before.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_04]: Not this is the one with help for me.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_04]: This is the one that you help back on.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_04]: It's okay.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: This is it.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: This is it.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_03]: Brandon Antunias he had terrible numbers in the DSL.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: I absolutely awful numbers.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know,
- 25:40[SPEAKER_03]: really nobody was after him in twenty six moment.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, people hit them in spots for the brewers because they were after Andrew Fisher.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_03]: But the value is there, man.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_03]: And he's starting to pick it up.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_03]: He's got nine homers already.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: He's batting 284 on the year.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's got significant power.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_03]: His exit velocities are for an 18 year old or like.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_03]: 115 plus he's hit absolutely insane.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's on the rise.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's an enormous buy right now goes the other one hand Del Free and Carnacione is numbers are fantastic this year another guy in the brewer's system So these guys in the brewers and Dodgers systems like those are the two strongest farm systems in my opinion Like you cannot go wrong by by investing in any Dodgers or brewers prospect
- 26:26[SPEAKER_03]: They just pick them right, man.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: And it's interesting with the Dodgers.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, it's, it's, they're hot, but it's dangerous because it's, you don't know.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: They're so good at the major league level that you don't know where they're going to fit.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a spot?
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: Are they going to be traded?
- 26:41[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like, I think that year is the biggest, the biggest name to watch as far as, you know, for a trade for the Dodgers prospect.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like, talking about a trade for school, like, I think he's number one on the list that goes unfortunately.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: is I or hope.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_04]: What do you think that does their value if they get outside of that system though?
- 26:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know, for somebody, I think it's it's individualistic like per player, but like I think for a godlike's I or hope, I think it increases his value there.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's like, like, those guys get kind of buried in the mix, you know, I'm saying exactly.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_04]: There's no very guys that are doing well.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what's kind of like, that's what's a little bit overwhelming with prospects is for me, at least, is you can go in so many different directions.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if I'm buying the goats, dude, I'm Kobe Jordan.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_04]: Brady, Manel, Ruth, you know, Griffey, I mean, there's six or seven, right?
- 27:31[SPEAKER_04]: With prospects, dude, you can go in so many different directions.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_04]: There's six within the Dodgers organization.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what gets a little bit fatigued.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, dude, I mean, how many of these guys can really make it, you know what I mean?
- 27:42[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's tough.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like you look at a guy like like Chase Harlan for example.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's batting average and we talk, you know, batting average is old and whatnot.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_03]: But like he's batting in like like 340 something, right?
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: And he's got 10 plus home runs at this point.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: He's got it.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: He was just recently promoted.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_03]: But like why isn't he talked about more, you know?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like some of you might be sitting here saying, like, I know this him.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, sure you do, but like he's not talked about enough.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's down in the Dodgers, what number is like not is even a top 10 prospect
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that, but they're just so full of talent there.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and it's where is his path to the major leagues within the Dodger system?
- 28:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you have to really, really math in order to, you know, have a spot there in the Dodger's organization.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: Otherwise, you kind of are worried about him being traded, you know, they just have so much talent.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_03]: But there's a lot of guys really starting to pick it up now.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_03]: You look at Walker Jenkins, you know, and Walker's always been extremely, extremely talented, right?
- 28:42[SPEAKER_04]: state state heard you know it's interesting so exactly you know walker bad at like 440 in June i mean absolutely destroyed baseball's you know hit like not home runs or something crazy so i wanted to uh here's what i did man i took these guys here here's the names walker
- 29:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm going to get you to do that.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see if you can do this, Karen Walker Jenkins, Charlie Condon, Zire Hope, Jose de Pola, Mike Sorota, Ela Willitz, Leo de Vri, Luis Pena, Hesus Mede, Lazaro Montez, and Sebastian Walcott.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, it's a big names here, okay.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_04]: Out of that list, whose price point do you think is the highest for a refractor to $4.99?
- 29:25[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna have to go.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_03]: I would probably go Walker Jenkins.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe Charlie Condon, nope.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_04]: The highest price on that list for their $4.99 refractor is Hesus Ma Day.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_03]: See, I didn't even, honestly, there were so many names there that meant the end.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm a day, 100%, that's I take that back.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: I honestly.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, it's a number one.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_04]: Number two on that list as far as price point on their refractor auto is yellow.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_04]: I will it's.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_04]: Number three on that price point as far as their 49 on is Leo DeVry.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_04]: Number four on that list is Hosewe DePaula.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_04]: So my days, 4,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
- 30:11[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, and then below that, Walker comes in at $600 for his 499.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_03]: There's value there.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_04]: And then you have all of these guys float around the same number.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_04]: Cerota, Walcott, Condon, Zayir are all around $400 for their $499.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_04]: And then the lowest on the list is last Montez at $300 for his $499.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_04]: And Pete Pina as well as in that $400 range.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_04]: So when I'm
- 30:44[SPEAKER_04]: They're the guys whose price point is, you know, kind of the leading the the pack.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_04]: But you've got incredible value with Walker's, Iears, Sarota, Peignant, Walcott, but the market doesn't seem to be hype in them the way they should.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_04]: And so this is that moment in the season where I think you start to go, huh?
- 31:03[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, there's a significant value change here.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_04]: And the next Zire hope that runs on auction could do $700.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_04]: You know, the next Sorota that runs on auction, like little Matt told me, like we bought a Sorota orange PSA 9 I think for like $1,600 or something.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_04]: a goal just did 1300 or something like that.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_04]: So you have to you have to pay close attention to where the shift starts to happen because I think a lot of people are going to stick with Mede and Willets and Leo long term until they view or until promotion.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_04]: And so you have an opportunity I think right now because these other guys are going to have to by nature catch up.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, think about it.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_03]: But APSA 10s are you're saying are 1800 right now, right?
- 31:49[SPEAKER_03]: That's what it's running.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: What did what did conners max out at?
- 31:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 35.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_03]: 35.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_03]: Where they at now?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know?
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: Connor refractor 4910.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_04]: Let me double check that.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_04]: I would guess if I had to guess I would say they're still pushing like 2800.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so he, I didn't realize his refractors got up to 3500 that high.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_03]: So look, they're, they're high, but they're still room there with with Mede.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's not to say that there's not value, but it's kind of hard to sit there and say there's value at 1800, right?
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: But if you look at what's this, you know, you we talk about like what's the ceiling there?
- 32:24[SPEAKER_04]: I just have to tell you, you know, some days, you're just, you're so confident in your ability and your knowledge of the market and right now is one of those moments for Big Matt.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_04]: You have the last sale of a Connor Griffin PSA 10 refractor auto was 232800.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: 28.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I just said.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_04]: I said I guess they're 2800 sure enough.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_04]: The last one on June 19th at $2,800.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_04]: 27 before that.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_04]: It fell down a little bit when he was injured.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_04]: I think 21, 22, but the last couple of bounce back.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, the peak on that, you know, the peak on that.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_04]: It got up 30, 36, you know, back in April.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_03]: That's where I'm kind of putting
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: but days max that you know what I mean like that's that's how much room he's got to go not to say he's gone or but like he's that five tool he's gonna have he's gonna be number one he is the number one prospect of the number one going into next year he's young still he's got that hype he's gonna have that hype
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: So here's what I put his next out there.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_04]: But here's a question.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_04]: Would what's more likely?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_04]: Medae to go from 1800 to 2500 or Zaire to go from 400 to 1500.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, Medae.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: See, that's worth it.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: So only because I don't, Zaire's a strange situation because I don't know how people value the non first, even though it's his first autograph, right?
- 33:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: And he could be traded.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: So like, like, do I think his value should be at 1500?
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: Probably pretty close today, right?
- 33:48[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe 1200.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the first thing throws that off, you know?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_04]: Well, again, I'm sitting or looking at this list and I'm going, you know, it condons, I air, Peña, Ceroda, Walcott, or Walker.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_04]: I would buy every single one of those guys before I would touch Monday or Willets or Leo or DePaul.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: So would I at those numbers, so would I even though I say that, you know, yeah, I think it's more likely that Monday goes to 3500 or 3000, whatever.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: I still would buy those guys.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, to me, look, Walker's a great investment there, but he's.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: has his injury.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, stuff.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think Condon is probably the best value there personally.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but just to Paul the Paula and Condon are the two best values there.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_03]: The Paula is still at what 1200 you said or the Paula is 900 900 they're still value there.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_03]: But Condon at what 400 Condon, yeah, 400.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's that's crazy value right there.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_03]: What in his last 10 games he's batting 441 with like what four almers and his numbers are insane the last of the last 30 games he's
- 34:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, it's just it's interesting to me when you start to really kind of look at this and you start to take a cross section and you start to kind of look at what McGonagal and JJ and Connor have done and then the the way is being paved for the next round of guys and I think the only thing that's kind of sustaining the boom at market right now to be honest with you are guys like James Wood Jordan Walker Jr. Kim and arrow
- 35:15[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 35:16[SPEAKER_04]: These guys, Colbin Care will peek low.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: You've got these guys that debut a couple years ago who are Nick Kurtz.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_04]: They're they're stabilizing in their professional career right now and they're doing some really ridiculous stuff so that everybody's not afraid or run off by the Jackson holidays of the world who haven't quite popped.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 35:37[SPEAKER_04]: The Jackson Cheerios that are falling off a little bit.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, Kern.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, you make up with that for the camineros of the world, right?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_04]: And so, I think there's a lot of prospect fatigue and a lot of prospect like wait when these guys didn't hit the way that they, you know what I mean?
- 35:53[SPEAKER_04]: You thought they might get?
- 35:53[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_04]: But now you've got them in their second third season doing some really good stuff and their values are kind of pumping back up and people go, oh yeah.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe I just need to be more patient on guys like this that have been around for a while who are going to be contributing major league ball players, it's just a matter of being able to withstand the storm of that prospect fatigue.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_04]: So I think there's some great value in some of these lower-end guys right now.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 100%.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: And that comes down to conviction to like the people looking to flip like they're not going to have patients like they're not looking for patients, but the guys that are buying who they like and they have conviction a lot of these guys like people will have patients like you have to if you want to if you want to make money.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_03]: But there's definitely a lot of a lot of value there, you know, I think some of those guys are mentioning Walcotts been hurt, right?
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: He's probably a good buy in my opinion, but I'm a little biased there.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_03]: Luis Payne has had his, I don't know, something's going on with him.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what, but he's he's playing like every eight games and he's
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: he came out of a game like a few weeks ago.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like, after he passed out in the dugout, he went out and he stole a base and he just, he came out of the game and he's just, I think it was like throwing up, like something's going on there.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's got some help.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: I hope he's okay.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I hope he's okay.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I think those are our specific reasons for those guys.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I think all in all though, like, I think the,
- 37:20[SPEAKER_03]: forget foam and market baseball market in general wouldn't be where it's at today if it weren't for show hey like show this show to carry it yeah you know like I sees I still see these like tops chrome 25 tops chrome red parallels not all those you
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: doing crazy amounts of money.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: It boggles my mind, you know.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, he's he's literally starting to cement himself in that conversation, you know, of just what he's what he's doing.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_04]: It's just, you know, unparalleled.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_04]: So, so that said, one of your boys here is is Junior Keminera, you know, what is I know you want to talk about this a little bit.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_04]: I mean,
- 37:56[SPEAKER_04]: You've been high on him from day one, of course you've got the three kings set up of his, you know, when you see him doing what he's doing right now, like, what are your thoughts there, man, because I mean, he's he's obviously putting himself in some elite conversations right now.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, what he's doing right now is he's cementing himself as a superstar, like a real superstar.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I still don't think his markets where it should be because he's in Tampa, you know, when his contracts up and the Dodgers give him a big contract, I mean, look out for his his card market.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he just turned 23 the other day.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_03]: He just turned 23.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_03]: He hit what 45 on runs last year.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_03]: He's he's got 26 this year.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not even the power, I mean, yeah, we all talk about his, you know, we all talk about his, his quickness, right?
- 38:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like his, his, his, his back quickness, but his chase rate is down significantly.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_03]: And that's, that's the difference in my, in, in, in, in my opinion, in this year, in this year versus last year, like he's not chasing as much.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_03]: He's of a lot more patient and the power and the hazard, if there's somebody that's
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: in all star.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: What he's doing is just insane, insane.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_03]: And I'd love to see it.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'd love to see it.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_04]: So, so you've got here going back to that 499 conversation.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_04]: Junior Keminera, you know, who's second all star appearance in a row, you know, he is, let me guess.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_04]: Go ahead.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_03]: is he at his PSA 10's they probably have to be at like I want to say 1200 last to 18 and 1900 okay higher than I thought but like still honestly it to think that Junior I mean I know this is the boom in market right but the think that he's doing the same number as a day yeah well new to Bowman
- 39:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, exactly, but and well, and again, and but see, then you start to get into this, you know, the market thinks about this guy versus McGonagall a 499 auto, let's see where they are at I would think that they're probably similar similar to yeah similar to Connor or similar to some of the camera.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see what the last PSA 10, two to a PSA 10, mechanical refractor just did 23, and it did 19 before that.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_04]: So you've got, it just goes to show you, man.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_04]: And then so, but you start to think through, okay, Bobby with, okay, you know, then you get into the whole other stratosphere with your judges, and all these kind of stuff.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: So there's a really weird market in the mid-market for, like, Bowman refractor autos.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not talking judge.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not talking trout.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not talking show hey, you know, you're talking the McDonald's, the conners, the Kevin Eros, the Bobby Whits, you know, the reds, why am I drawing a complete blank on his name?
- 40:42[SPEAKER_04]: Ellie.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_04]: Ellie.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 40:44[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, okay, who's going to take over that next tier, you know, wave?
- 40:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_04]: That's where there's some real conversation I think to be had and what's going to be sustainable for a price point, you know, of a product like that.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's just a think about it.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad you're talking at a 499 because to me, that's the best judge for a player.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like not the basis, there's a so many that sell constantly.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I think, but I think a refractor at a 499 is the best way to judge that player's market in my opinion.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, 100% and then, you know, a guy like Soto, which the little match of the funniest thing the other day, he said, one Soto is the Kevin Durant of baseball.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_04]: And I was like, that's hilarious and he's like, dude's got great stats, but, you know, limited number of championships and MVP's and all this kind of stuff, you know, and I was like, that's a pretty funny comparison and I don't know what Durant's done or not.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_03]: See, I think it's more, I, I, when you said that, I thought of it more along the lines
- 41:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, true.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_03]: That same thing.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_03]: That actually champion chips and MVP's and stuff like that.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_04]: It his point was he's like, dude, so does PSA 10 refractor while we're on that topic is doing seven grand, right?
- 41:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_04]: No MVP's, right?
- 41:59[SPEAKER_04]: No batting titles.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_04]: He's moved around teams.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_04]: He does have what one world series I guess.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, so it's just, it's interesting then to kind of go, okay, well, like what's actually driving the value of this, like he'll cement himself as a Hall of Famer, I think.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, his, his plate, when it's stuff is just 200% but it's like, I mean, he's, he's in the same conversation in category as like the judges of the world, but he's not done judge type stuff in my opinion.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_03]: Not from, not from a, I mean, not a lot of people have done judge types stuff, right?
- 42:30[SPEAKER_03]: But look, Bobby Whits in that conversation, too.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: But I'll take one soda over Bobby Whitt any day of the week, personally.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: You know, not defensively, but like offensively, one soda is one of the best hitters in the entire league.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 42:43[SPEAKER_03]: Like,
- 42:43[SPEAKER_04]: So, but my point is Bobby Witt's refractor is literally 3,300 versus set of sets of sets on your value compared to SOTO, right?
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 42:52[SPEAKER_04]: Like, those are the things that are so interesting to me, because when you really start to rank and tear these guys based off of like actualized value of the card, you know, me versus the performance thing, there are definite gaps there, you know.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_04]: And if you can,
- 43:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if you can play the gaps and understand the gaps, I think that's where you make money and cards because if you have conviction, it's like a little Matt said on the episode a couple weeks ago.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_04]: He said, and he was so, it was so awesome the way he said it.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_04]: He said, I'm telling you right now, a Jordan Kobe East West refractor PSA 10 just sold for 21k is the most undervalued Jordan card that card's going to be 30 in no time because of these factors or whatever,
- 43:34[SPEAKER_04]: So, so when you can find these gaps in the market and you go, okay, soda, Bobby, wit, double, you know, the main thing.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so, yeah, look, I hear you on that and logic, that logically, that makes sense, right?
- 43:48[SPEAKER_03]: But the Bowman world isn't lost and that's where it's like, you could, you could do that, but you could still get burned.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: You could still, you could buy Bobby, wit, thinking he should be a tighter gap between, you know,
- 44:04[SPEAKER_03]: It might not happen.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_03]: The chances are it said it won't happen.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: You don't even like so while it might make logical sense.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it isn't logical.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's not.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you got L. E. P. S. A.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_04]: 10 Refractors.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_04]: They're $1,500 to $1,800, which I remember when those were 4 grand, 4,500.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean yeah, and so it would be really interesting like the things that I think about I tell a little about to do this all the time I'm like hey man go and pull these top 10 players go pull their refractor autos and go, you know, let's see where value is yeah
- 44:37[SPEAKER_04]: And I mean, that's where you can, you can kind of deep down sometimes and when speaking of, go ahead, you go first.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_03]: No, I was going to say speaking of Jordan.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: So some of you know, this my first, like when I first got back into the hobby, I had a bunch of Jordan cards and like screw down cases and, you know, crap like that.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I, I had 87 flea and 88 flea, the 88 flea I sent to PSA to
- 45:06[SPEAKER_04]: yeah what's yeah there you go what but since when is the $9,000 dude it's it Jordan's market like so i'm gonna show you a card right here okay it was three years ago yeah look at this dude so this is his rookie all right it's it this is a B&C6 it's ours okay
- 45:21[SPEAKER_04]: You know, this card, we bought it in 2020 to four, I think, two grand.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_04]: Roll.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_04]: Got it, graded.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_04]: It got a six.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_04]: They were doing three grand forever.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_04]: We had sold it, re-bought it back from the guy because we were like, we won't discard back.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_04]: We re-bought it for three grand.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_04]: Do this card is comping over 10 grand right now.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, we shoot.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's, it's 3x.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_04]: And that's on like a mid-grade Jordan rookie.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like dude, his stuff has just been astronomical.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_04]: And it's the same thing with showhame, my opinion.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_04]: You have such a wide collector base.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_04]: And when people get in, when new capitals coming in the market, who are they going after?
- 45:58[SPEAKER_04]: They're going after, they're going after goats.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_04]: They're going after and showhame is funny those days on a post I call them goat hay.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_04]: But you, you go.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_04]: So you go, you go, you go, show, hey, you go Jordan, you go Kobe, you go Lebron, and you start to kind of go down, you go Brady and do this 10.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_04]: There's 10 players that everybody in the world recognizes as a household sports icon name.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_04]: And at the end of the day, if you're going to own cards of people and you're going to have somebody over to your house to say, hey, check this out.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: What are you going to show them?
- 46:34[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I got show them in 1986, Bo Jackson, Rookie, you're going to show them, you know, the mean the lowest population, rarest of these guys.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_04]: And so the market right now, all the money is flooding to these kind of like goat cards.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: It dude, it is in Sanity Kern.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_04]: It's in Sanity.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_04]: Little Matt and I had this Jordan gold medallion that I was like, oh, dude, this is low.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_04]: This is where we bought it for $300.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_04]: There's two and three grand right now.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_04]: and of course we sold away was five hundred dollars but my point being is is you're talking about ten x on his market cap on some cards over the last six months.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's wild.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_03]: What what has said the tribute to is it just people wanting to take the new money coming in, people wanting to find out.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's your money.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_04]: And I think people are really starting to understand the scarcity of certain cards.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_04]: And they're starting to go back and say, okay, this might not be like a Jordan PNG is, you know, a half million dollar card.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_04]: You're never gonna attain that.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_04]: But here's another one, a gold medallion ever here whose there's known copies of 500 of it and it's $300, give me that one.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_04]: And so you've just got this, is this supply and demand thing.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_04]: And there's a lot of people that are holding those kind of cards long term.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's just more and more scarce.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you look at like the Mickey Manel 52 Topch Rookie.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_04]: You don't see those as much as you used to.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think a lot of those are locked away, you know, people were just storing assets there.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, so there's a lot to be said for what's going on in the market right now.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_04]: And there's a lot of people that are really, really winning on which is, you know, what I love to see.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_04]: I love the healthy hobby, you know, but at the same time, there's a lot of manipulation in the market too.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_04]: Because it's like, if you
- 48:09[SPEAKER_04]: You know, if the guy owns 20 Michael Jordan rookies, hey, I'll go buy another one and now my cost, you know, basis is low, but I've got a recent comp that's high.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_04]: So a lot of that stuff going on too.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, man, I know we're kind of getting in our timeframe today, but today was just a good little chat between us and it's current.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_04]: I'll be honest, I saw you perk up.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_04]: I saw you perk up.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_04]: We've got to talk about prospects and
- 48:39[SPEAKER_03]: I like talking about some little upset that I forgot money was in that and I didn't choose money for the highest refractor auto.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_03]: I like that's a no-brainer and I just you name two name any name too many names, all right?
- 48:51[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, hey, everybody will judge you and it's okay.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: But we still are way, baby.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thank you.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's glad to have you back on your own show.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so glad that you could join even though the world was conspiring against us.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_04]: We made it, we made it work.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_04]: We jumped in the car and we pivoted and we're rocking a rolin.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_04]: I'm here staring at Deers in front of me.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_04]: Deers in the car staring at Deers.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_04]: You got Deer, you got Deer, you got Deer, you got Deer, you got Deer.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_04]: So we've got a couple of guests coming up here in the near future guys.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_04]: We are going to be dropping a couple of episodes.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to have our buddy Brandon Steiner back on.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_04]: That was a great episode.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_04]: Brandon's going to come back on.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_04]: And then we've got another prospect mind that will drop here in the near future.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_04]: But we're working on getting those scheduled out guys.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_04]: We've got fanatics fest coming up.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to be there kind of from the floor sharing some content with you guys or whatnot.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_04]: So sports cards, CEO continues to roll on.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_04]: Current, I appreciate you, bro.
