- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM 640, the Bill Handel Show
- 0:04Speaker 1: on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:12Speaker 2: And now, Handel on the News. Ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:17Speaker 2: not Bill Handel. Ah, my favorite. I love not Bill Handel.
- 0:24Speaker 2: He's the best. KFI AM 640 live everywhere on the
- 0:28Speaker 2: iHeartRadio app. Good Monday morning to you. Neil Saavedra and
- 0:32Speaker 2: the Morning Crew here. Bill is out. Hold on one second.
- 0:38Speaker 2: He doesn't have internet? Why didn't he drive in? No,
- 0:43Speaker 2: I mean, he knew yesterday. Why didn't he drive in
- 0:45Speaker 2: last night? Like early in the afternoon or something, just
- 0:48Speaker 2: get a place. Huh. He's always so upset about Trump
- 0:55Speaker 2: naming things, and here we have a show with his name,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and he doesn't even show up for it. Oh, well,
- 1:02Speaker 2: he's a lazy bastard. But Neil Saavedra and the morning
- 1:06Speaker 2: crew are here. We've got Anne, of course. Good morning, Anne.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Good morning, Neil.
- 1:12Speaker 3: It's nice to see you.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I'm glad having you here.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Every time I see you, you look happy.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right. Yeah, that's true. Well, you know.
- 1:20Speaker 2: And tiny, by the way, I gave Anne a hug
- 1:24Speaker 2: this morning and hugged myself as well.
- 1:27Speaker 3: How do you do that? We're skinny. Yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 2: We're so thin.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Oh, I get it.
- 1:31Speaker 2: How cute are we? Oh, my gosh. What are we, like,
- 1:34Speaker 2: 112 together? I know. Barely.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Barely.
- 1:38Speaker 2: With wet hair. With wet hair and bricks for shoes. Uh-huh.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Speaking of slim and svelte, Amy, how are you?
- 1:49Speaker 3: I'm great. Except I think all the weight you guys
- 1:51Speaker 3: are losing, I'm gaining.
- 1:53Speaker 2: You are not gaining weight. The funniest thing, if you've
- 1:57Speaker 2: ever seen Amy.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Kay King's high school graduation picture. It looks like it
- 2:05Speaker 2: was taken yesterday.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Have you not seen that? It's hilarious. It's hilarious. I
- 2:12Speaker 2: want to see it. Yeah, it is hilarious. The vampirist herself.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And of course, my buddy, old pal from the IE,
- 2:20Speaker 2: one love. Kona, what's shaking? What's up, Neil? How you doing, buddy?
- 2:24Speaker 3: You... Look, skinny.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Say marvelous. You look marvelous. But you are.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I can't play fat songs anymore, I don't think.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I'm still a big guy. I'm 210 pounds right now.
- 2:37Speaker 2: What were you? I think I was 255 when I
- 2:39Speaker 2: went in for surgery. Before, when I went into surgery
- 2:42Speaker 2: for my kidney, I must have been 260, almost 270. Yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 2: you look skinny. You look different, like a different guy.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Doesn't he?
- 2:51Speaker 4: I was saying that last week, and I'm like, I'm
- 2:53Speaker 4: looking at your face, and you look different.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Well, that's because he has a regular colored beard. It's
- 2:57Speaker 3: not orange or purple.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have a blue beard.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Now, and you're skinnier this week than you were last week.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I probably lost some weight. Yeah, no, definitely.
- 3:05Speaker 3: How long do you keep losing weight?
- 3:08Speaker 2: I think you can keep losing weight up to 12
- 3:11Speaker 2: to 18 months, but it slows down. I mean, the first—
- 3:14Speaker 2: The first couple months, it's a pound a day easy, pound,
- 3:18Speaker 2: pound and a half a day. And you're going, what
- 3:20Speaker 2: the hell? For those that don't know, I had bariatric
- 3:24Speaker 2: sleeve surgery, not the Roux-en-Y, which Handel had 25 years ago.
- 3:28Speaker 2: That's the Cadillac. That's when they not only, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: they shrink all the size of the streets, they tie
- 3:37Speaker 2: them in a knot. It's like your stomach gets smaller
- 3:40Speaker 2: and then they actually bypass the I did not get that.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I still could if I needed it, but I'm real
- 3:47Speaker 2: happy with the way this is going. I don't think
- 3:49Speaker 2: you need it. Cedars-Sinai did great. Yeah, but my goal
- 3:52Speaker 2: is to get under two. My old fighting weight back
- 3:56Speaker 2: in the martial arts days was 180. Oh, yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 2: So that would be pretty small for me now, and
- 4:06Speaker 2: I would look a little bit like Nancy Reagan with the– Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you get the big head and the small body. I'm sorry,
- 4:13Speaker 2: but I've got a big fat head. And that's hard
- 4:16Speaker 2: to get down. But yes, my goatee is normal. This
- 4:19Speaker 2: would be my normal color if I were not gray.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Shall we get to anybody got any news? You want
- 4:26Speaker 2: to talk about eagles anymore? You want to go into
- 4:28Speaker 2: the fifth hour of eagles, Amy?
- 4:31Speaker 3: No, we're good. We have September 4th as California Wildlife
- 4:36Speaker 3: Day in remembrance of big, Bear, bald, eagle, Jackie. It's official.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Passed in the state legislature.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And Shadow got rid of the tart that was all
- 4:48Speaker 2: up in his business?
- 4:48Speaker 3: She's not a tart. And her name is Katie. Oh.
- 4:51Speaker 3: And she's still hanging around the nest.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I could have sworn it was Lindsay. Go ahead. I kid.
- 4:57Speaker 2: He's not here.
- 4:59Speaker 3: She is much younger. She is much younger. Shadow's like 12.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And Katie's like four and a half. So she's just
- 5:05Speaker 3: getting to the point where she might be looking for
- 5:07Speaker 3: a husband.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Didn't she kill Jackie?
- 5:12Speaker 3: No. You know what? She did not. First of all,
- 5:15Speaker 3: Jackie was very sick before she got in the fight
- 5:17Speaker 3: with the eagles.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I mean, we all saw the video.
- 5:21Speaker 3: That was not Katie.
- 5:22Speaker 2: It was a different eagle. Were those eagles their spawn?
- 5:27Speaker 3: No. They're not her kids.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Okay, so she gets jumped, and you say it's not
- 5:35Speaker 2: one of the ones that jumped her, but maybe... You know,
- 5:38Speaker 2: we can honestly say I don't know how many eagles
- 5:40Speaker 2: run in what circles, but there have been her friends.
- 5:43Speaker 3: They might have been.
- 5:44Speaker 2: She says, I want an in with that shadow. Well,
- 5:48Speaker 2: she loves fame.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Got it.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I don't know. It just sounds similar. There's so.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:58Speaker 2: She wants to move in, right? And she's like, oh,
- 6:01Speaker 2: I would do this with the twigs.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I would move them over here. She totally is. She's
- 6:05Speaker 3: coming in and picking around in the nest. And Shadow's
- 6:07Speaker 3: looking at her like, excuse me, ma'am.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah, because she wanted to change everything. Oh, it'd be
- 6:12Speaker 2: so great. My friends could come over. Why don't we
- 6:14Speaker 2: put a pool here?
- 6:15Speaker 3: We'll all jump in naked.
- 6:18Speaker 2: It'll be great. And he's like, no. And I was
- 6:24Speaker 2: on with Conway on Friday. And I told him, because
- 6:26Speaker 2: he was talking about this, and I said, I'm going
- 6:28Speaker 2: to give you a little Spanish lesson of why Shadow
- 6:34Speaker 2: is booting her out. A little Spanish lesson. Amy, do
- 6:38Speaker 2: you know how to say wife in Spanish?
- 6:43Speaker 3: I do not.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Esposa.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Esposa.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Do you know how to say handcuffs in Spanish?
- 6:53Speaker 3: I do not.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Esposas. Esposas.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Is that actually true?
- 6:58Speaker 2: That is actually true.
- 7:00Speaker 1: So.
- 7:00Speaker 3: That's funny. How do you say ball and chain?
- 7:04Speaker 2: You say esposa. Ah. So it's... I'm just saying that
- 7:11Speaker 2: he's like, man, I just got out of something. We've
- 7:15Speaker 2: been doing a reality show for years without our consent.
- 7:19Speaker 3: And without compensation. Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 2: So I think he just wants a normal life and
- 7:23Speaker 2: she comes in with a, you know... Pottery Barn catalog.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And she's like, this is so darling and fall is coming.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And I want to I want to get ready for Halloween.
- 7:36Speaker 2: And she's like, you know, P.S. lattes and all this stuff.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And he's like, I just listen, man, I'm 12. I'm
- 7:46Speaker 2: not six anymore. I just want some me time. All right,
- 7:51Speaker 2: shall we get into some Handle on the News?
- 7:54Speaker 3: Oh, let's.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Let's get into some Handle on the News with me,
- 7:57Speaker 2: Neal Saverger. Hello. And Amy K. King. Yes, that's her
- 8:02Speaker 2: full name.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Hello.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Lead story. What a freaking story. Now, I know that
- 8:12Speaker 2: we've been watching horrific videos of what's going on in
- 8:17Speaker 2: Nepal and beautiful part of the world by the way
- 8:21Speaker 2: Nepal I loved my wife and I went to Nepal
- 8:24Speaker 2: and it was gorgeous uh but now here right here
- 8:28Speaker 2: at home not far from us actually uh the National
- 8:32Speaker 2: Park Service is uh has recovered the body of a
- 8:35Speaker 2: 46 year old man after a significant flash flood in
- 8:39Speaker 2: the Grand Canyon on Saturday so this came down and
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm still attached to all of our new stuff here
- 8:46Speaker 2: um from when I was in management, where you get
- 8:51Speaker 2: all this stuff fed to you, like our producers and everything,
- 8:55Speaker 2: and was just blown away at the thought of this.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And it's not the first time I've heard of something
- 9:00Speaker 2: like this, but it seemed to come out of the blue.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And although the man's identity has not been released, you're
- 9:09Speaker 2: looking at searching for another 15 people or so, even
- 9:13Speaker 2: asking the public saying, did you know anybody that was camping,
- 9:17Speaker 2: hiking or any of this? Because that's what they're going
- 9:21Speaker 2: to be looking for. And have you guys been to
- 9:24Speaker 2: the Grand Canyon?
- 9:25Speaker 3: Not recently.
- 9:26Speaker 2: But it's it's insane. It is hard to comprehend it
- 9:31Speaker 2: not being a painting. Like when you go, you're like,
- 9:35Speaker 2: this looks like a painting. And excuse me, there is
- 9:38Speaker 2: a bizarre desire to jump off. Did you have that?
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's really weird. There's this desire to fly in there
- 9:46Speaker 2: or something. Maybe it's just me. But it was, I
- 9:50Speaker 2: don't know, a very impactful thing when you see Mother
- 9:55Speaker 2: Nature so grandiose right in front of your face, but
- 9:59Speaker 2: it's a hole. I don't know. So they are coming
- 10:04Speaker 2: out saying if you know any hikers or backpackers that
- 10:06Speaker 2: were in bright angle. Is that Angel?
- 10:14Speaker 3: Bright Angel Camp, I believe.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm looking at that. That doesn't look right. Bright Angel
- 10:18Speaker 2: Creek Corridor on August 29th. Or if you add campground
- 10:23Speaker 2: reservations in that area to let them know. Sad. We'll
- 10:29Speaker 2: be talking about that a little bit later.
- 10:32Speaker 3: So much for the pause. U.S. forces have hit Iranian
- 10:36Speaker 3: rocket launchers on the Strait of Hormuz. Forces with the
- 10:40Speaker 3: Revolutionary Guard were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea
- 10:46Speaker 3: mines into the Strait. That's according to CENTCOM spokesperson Tim Hawkins.
- 10:52Speaker 3: A short time later, explosions were heard near Larrick Island
- 10:56Speaker 3: on the Strait. They're calling it limited precise action against
- 11:02Speaker 3: the Iranians trying to relay mines, which the U.S. just
- 11:06Speaker 3: finished clearing out of the Strait in the international shipping routes.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Of course, Iran is calling an act of aggression, said
- 11:13Speaker 3: they would respond. They did respond by firing off some
- 11:16Speaker 3: missiles and drones at Jordan. Those were all intercepted.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And so it goes. Interesting article we'll be getting into,
- 11:27Speaker 2: I think, in the second hour or the third hour
- 11:29Speaker 2: rather today is a story by someone who was in
- 11:36Speaker 2: George W. 's administration. In Obama's administration, in Trump's and
- 11:42Speaker 2: in Biden's, that has an interesting perspective on the war
- 11:46Speaker 2: as it stands with Iran. We'll talk about that a
- 11:49Speaker 2: little bit later. So Nepal on high alert. Fresh flooding
- 11:54Speaker 2: coming after river levels rise. Death toll is past 900.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So residents there, and it is like a movie. I
- 12:02Speaker 2: know Handel was talking about this, and Amy was the
- 12:05Speaker 2: other day. When you see that mud wall come over,
- 12:08Speaker 2: and you know, no one survived that. There's just no way.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I mean, it was this mud wall and washed away people,
- 12:15Speaker 2: and you gasped the same way you would if it
- 12:18Speaker 2: was a Hollywood movie. You have to say that because
- 12:22Speaker 2: not all movies are Hollywood anymore. Less and less.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Let's make a deal with Venezuela. Well, we did. Venezuelan
- 12:30Speaker 3: interim president Delcy Rodriguez says an energy agreement with the U.S.
- 12:36Speaker 3: will be in place for 25 years. It'll target an
- 12:38Speaker 3: increase in crude output to 1.5 million barrels a day.
- 12:46Speaker 3: She calls it historic and says it's going to help
- 12:48Speaker 3: revive the Venezuelan economy and boost government revenue. And that
- 12:53Speaker 3: will help shape the country's future. Of course, the country
- 12:56Speaker 3: pretty much devastated and I don't know. Yeah. Destroyed.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Devastated by definition. There's not a comma after that, really,
- 13:07Speaker 2: I suppose. Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 3: So President Trump announced on Friday that the U.S. is
- 13:10Speaker 3: going to take partial control of Venezuela's oil reserves and
- 13:15Speaker 3: secure majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of
- 13:20Speaker 3: Venezuela's oil reserves through a partnership with private business. So
- 13:25Speaker 3: I know they've got Chevron and some other oil companies
- 13:27Speaker 3: going in. They're going to revive the oil industry. And
- 13:31Speaker 3: we're going to take it for our reserves, our strategic
- 13:35Speaker 3: reserves that have been decimated.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Swell. Well, we'll take it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yes, we will.
- 13:42Speaker 2: So rotting food. Nasty, right? Nobody wants rotting food unless, unless.
- 13:51Speaker 2: And I don't know why lineage out there in Boyle
- 13:53Speaker 2: Heights didn't do it. Talk to anybody about this. Unless
- 13:56Speaker 2: you're composting. Okay. The city wants me to put rotten,
- 14:02Speaker 2: nasty food into a bin with no bag and then
- 14:07Speaker 2: put it into my green bin, which makes it nasty smelling.
- 14:12Speaker 2: And that's good. But the evil corporations, when they compost, okay,
- 14:19Speaker 2: I'll be it after a fire and it's disgusting and toxic. But, okay,
- 14:23Speaker 2: that analogy sucks. But they were grappling there with my
- 14:27Speaker 2: brothers and sisters out there in Boyle Heights, rancid odors,
- 14:31Speaker 2: missed deadlines. I think the deadline was, what, August 14th originally,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and here we are at the end of August now.
- 14:38Speaker 2: South Coast Air Quality Management District said the company's removal
- 14:42Speaker 2: of the food waste marked the completion of a major
- 14:45Speaker 2: phase of the cleanup process that dragged– on for more
- 14:49Speaker 2: than two months. And if you remember, because it was June,
- 14:54Speaker 2: late June when that fire was out. So that's the
- 14:57Speaker 2: good news. Then if you were listening to Amy this
- 15:01Speaker 2: morning on wake up call, now you've got Simi Valley
- 15:05Speaker 2: people upset.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, because they've been apparently taking it to a landfill
- 15:10Speaker 3: in Simi Valley and it's stinking up the place.
- 15:12Speaker 2: They're like, oh, yeah. Same thing we do with the homeless.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Kind of move them around, shuffle them around until the
- 15:23Speaker 2: stink gets too bad for where they are, and then
- 15:25Speaker 2: they shuffle them around somewhere else. All right.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Cashing in on CalSheet. A former White House teleprompter operator
- 15:36Speaker 3: is accused of using inside knowledge to make bets on CalSheet,
- 15:40Speaker 3: the prediction market, And then now has been ordered to
- 15:44Speaker 3: turn over more than $ 100, 000 in profits and pay a
- 15:47Speaker 3: $ 65, 000 fine as part of a settlement with federal authorities.
- 15:51Speaker 3: They found that Gabriel Perez made $ 107, 500 on prediction markets
- 15:55Speaker 3: by betting on words and phrases. that would appear in
- 16:02Speaker 3: President Trump's speeches between December of 2025 and February of 2026.
- 16:06Speaker 3: What a racket. What a racket.
- 16:10Speaker 2: So we had talked about this story when it first
- 16:12Speaker 2: came out, but this is just kind of summing up
- 16:15Speaker 2: what's going on now at this point. But man, you
- 16:21Speaker 2: could hear that guy walking with those big brass balls.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Through the halls of the White House doing something like that.
- 16:29Speaker 2: He's like, and I think he's going to say Big
- 16:33Speaker 2: Lee three times. And it's like, holy smokes.
- 16:38Speaker 3: And then he was praying, don't go off script. Don't
- 16:41Speaker 3: go off script.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, the one time. I mean, you could do that
- 16:44Speaker 2: with Obama. I mean, Obama read every line on that teleprompter.
- 16:50Speaker 2: But Trump, you don't know when he just kind of
- 16:53Speaker 2: leans to the side and everyone goes, uh-oh. Alrighty, speaking
- 16:57Speaker 2: of Trump, and we just were, he can't deport students
- 17:01Speaker 2: for criticizing Israel. So says this judge. They cited the
- 17:07Speaker 2: importance of the First Amendment, of course, but keep in
- 17:09Speaker 2: mind these students are non-citizens. That are here. And you
- 17:16Speaker 2: can't unconstitutionally silence critics of Israel and the war in
- 17:21Speaker 2: Gaza and others as part of the Trump administration's quest
- 17:26Speaker 2: on this. Now, I understand this and I agree. You
- 17:32Speaker 2: are kind of under the protection of the Constitution when
- 17:35Speaker 2: you're here, even as a visitor. But where– is there
- 17:40Speaker 2: any point where we would? Like if I think, if
- 17:43Speaker 2: a student comes here and starts burning a flag or something,
- 17:46Speaker 2: an American flag, or I would say adios. And that's
- 17:52Speaker 2: just me saying adios. I'm not saying that they're Mexican.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Just relax. But I'm saying anybody who came here and started,
- 17:59Speaker 2: like there's a, okay, sorry, scripture pops in my head.
- 18:02Speaker 2: But there is a scripture about anybody's welcome in the church,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but they're not welcome to teach. So everybody can come
- 18:09Speaker 2: and hear the teachings, but they can't stand up and
- 18:12Speaker 2: start teaching their own stuff. So I feel that way
- 18:15Speaker 2: as well. If you're an American citizen, absolutely. If you're
- 18:17Speaker 2: not a citizen and you're here, you know, as schooling
- 18:22Speaker 2: and stuff like that, then, yeah, you start criticizing us. Bye.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord
- 18:30Speaker 2: split you. That's just me.
- 18:32Speaker 3: All right. Well, Google's going along with it, partially. Google Maps.
- 18:37Speaker 3: On Saturday, change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake
- 18:42Speaker 3: America as signed or as ordered under an executive order
- 18:47Speaker 3: signed by President Trump last week, effective immediately.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Here's the hitch.
- 18:51Speaker 3: It's only for U.S. users. If Canadians Google it, it's
- 18:58Speaker 3: going to say Lake Ontario. And if you do international searches,
- 19:02Speaker 3: it'll say Lake Ontario and Lake America.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it borders both states, right? Yeah. So,
- 19:10Speaker 2: fun fact, mallards, long-tailed ducks, buffleheads, golden eyes, all kinds
- 19:19Speaker 2: of ducks are in that lake.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:24Speaker 2: On the Ontario side, they'll be referred to as that.
- 19:27Speaker 2: My understanding, and you're the news person, on our side,
- 19:31Speaker 2: they're all going to be called Donald ducks. Is that true?
- 19:34Speaker 2: Yes or no? Don't shake that one off, Kono. That
- 19:39Speaker 2: was solid. A little long.
- 19:41Speaker 3: That was good.
- 19:45Speaker 2: All right. This just in, by the way, from one
- 19:48Speaker 2: of you lovely listeners, on our talkbacks. And this is great.
- 19:52Speaker 2: This is from Danny. Danny calls in from... Simi Valley
- 19:57Speaker 2: and said, hey, good morning, Neil. Good morning, Amy. I
- 20:00Speaker 2: think what we're having a problem with here in Simi
- 20:02Speaker 2: Valley is not so much the rancid odor, which is terrible.
- 20:07Speaker 2: This is we were talking about them moving the waste
- 20:11Speaker 2: from Boyle Heights and trucking it over into Simi Valley,
- 20:15Speaker 2: which does have a dumping area. They say it's not
- 20:18Speaker 2: just that. They say that's terrible enough. So says Danny
- 20:21Speaker 2: and Simi. But it's the fact that in the past
- 20:24Speaker 2: two years, the city has taken on our dump and
- 20:29Speaker 2: waste from Altadena and the Palisades fire. And now the
- 20:32Speaker 2: dump is taking on from Boyle Heights and it's just
- 20:35Speaker 2: getting ridiculous. I think that's the problem. I thought that
- 20:38Speaker 2: was great insight. And I appreciate that, Danny, from someone
- 20:42Speaker 2: who lives out there saying, hey, it's not just this.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's like we're becoming the dumping ground. And that's a
- 20:47Speaker 2: problem when you have a dump. I mean, that's true.
- 20:51Speaker 2: You got a dump, people are going to use it,
- 20:53Speaker 2: and the city's going to use it. Does LA have
- 20:56Speaker 2: a dump where we can take things? We've got to, right?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Big Bear has one. It's great. You go take your
- 21:03Speaker 2: stuff to the dump. I never did that as a
- 21:05Speaker 2: kid that I can remember. All right. Dolly Parton, privately
- 21:10Speaker 2: laid to rest. For such a public person, a flashy person,
- 21:14Speaker 2: this was a family affair. her niece, Lainey May Parton,
- 21:21Speaker 2: shared a tribute to the country music icon on Instagram
- 21:24Speaker 2: on Saturday, August 29th. She wrote that she waited to
- 21:27Speaker 2: make the post until after Parton was laid to rest yesterday.
- 21:31Speaker 2: So Friday was the day and she says it still
- 21:35Speaker 2: doesn't feel real that she's gone. Dolly was one of
- 21:38Speaker 2: those ones that you just kind of, you can never tell.
- 21:41Speaker 2: She was 80 years old. She didn't look 80. So
- 21:44Speaker 2: you never, you know, She was timeless. Yeah. Right. She
- 21:49Speaker 2: just you didn't think even when they were saying you
- 21:53Speaker 2: remember her sister came out. Do you remember she she
- 21:56Speaker 2: had canceled a few things and then her sister came
- 21:59Speaker 2: out and said, it's really bad, guys. It's really bad.
- 22:01Speaker 2: It's really bad. And Dolly came out and said, it's fine.
- 22:06Speaker 2: And it turns out it was really bad. Uh, but, uh, still,
- 22:12Speaker 2: still a sad story and, and seeing people we talked
- 22:14Speaker 2: about on the fork report, she had a recipe for life.
- 22:18Speaker 2: If go look for Dolly's recipe for life. Uh, it's
- 22:23Speaker 2: very sweet and I'll let you engage, uh, with it
- 22:26Speaker 2: on your own, but I found it very sweet.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Amy.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Uh, I just want to mention too, that like Dolly
- 22:33Speaker 3: is everywhere now and, uh, nine to five. Is the
- 22:39Speaker 3: most streamed movie in America right now.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Really?
- 22:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 2: It was a fun movie.
- 22:43Speaker 3: It was really fun.
- 22:44Speaker 2: You remember that time in the 80s where Dabney Coleman,
- 22:48Speaker 2: the bad guy in this, the boss, was in everything?
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Dabney Coleman was in everything.
- 22:56Speaker 3: He was really good at being a bad nest.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah. But he was funny and charming, too.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 2: So you let it. lie but yeah that i going
- 23:04Speaker 2: back to that movie right now it was uh i
- 23:07Speaker 2: think i'm gonna go watch.
- 23:07Speaker 4: It today yeah i'm gonna go watch it i watched
- 23:09Speaker 4: it yesterday you did swear and it's fun right it's
- 23:14Speaker 4: a little hokey of course it's hokey it's cute the
- 23:17Speaker 4: 80s were hokey yeah that's cute oh wow that's cute
- 23:22Speaker 4: okay okay a critic movie critic here that's all right
- 23:27Speaker 4: not to watch.
- 23:29Speaker 3: A million mile journey is underway. NASA's newest crown jewel
- 23:34Speaker 3: has launched from Cape Canaveral. It is headed into, I
- 23:40Speaker 3: would call it deep space, but I don't think it
- 23:42Speaker 3: qualifies as deep space. But it's heading out a million miles.
- 23:46Speaker 3: And a million miles away from Earth, it's going to
- 23:50Speaker 3: orbit the Earth. Because it's still in the gravitational pull
- 23:53Speaker 3: of the Earth. Isn't that crazy? A million miles away?
- 23:55Speaker 2: A million miles.
- 23:56Speaker 3: A million miles. Yeah. Yeah. So it's the $ 4. 3 billion
- 24:01Speaker 3: Roman space telescope. It launched shortly after daybreak yesterday on
- 24:07Speaker 3: a triple the firepower Falcon heavy rocket. Cause it's got
- 24:11Speaker 3: a long way to go. So when it gets there,
- 24:15Speaker 3: it'll start sending back pictures that are going to, you know,
- 24:21Speaker 3: give us more glimpses into planets and other stars and,
- 24:27Speaker 3: dark energy, and will survey the cosmos like never before.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Speaking of which, speaking of dark energy, Handel is not
- 24:35Speaker 2: with us today. It's just me and the morning crew.
- 24:38Speaker 2: All right, Supreme Leader's home. I could use a sandow.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Hello?
- 24:45Speaker 2: But Iran's Supreme Leader called on Muslim countries to stand
- 24:50Speaker 2: together against Israel and the United States, imploring them to
- 24:55Speaker 2: know your real enemy. God, I don't like those people.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And I don't mean Iranians. I don't mean Arabs. I
- 25:04Speaker 2: don't mean– I mean the Muslim countries that think we're
- 25:10Speaker 2: the devil. I don't think they're the devil. When I
- 25:14Speaker 2: hear someone say Muslim terrorist, I don't care about the
- 25:18Speaker 2: Muslim part. I care about the terrorist part. That's the
- 25:21Speaker 2: dangerous part is the terrorism part. I don't care if
- 25:26Speaker 2: they said Christian terrorists. The terrorist part is what bothers
- 25:29Speaker 2: me most. So when you come out and you classify
- 25:33Speaker 2: us across, you know, and then now the younger generation
- 25:37Speaker 2: of Americans are like, yeah, well, we are. We're horrible.
- 25:40Speaker 2: And I just think, oh, and this is not an
- 25:45Speaker 2: act of war to say, you know, all of them,
- 25:50Speaker 2: every single one of us must go. My problem. Amy,
- 25:57Speaker 2: lighten the mood.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I don't think I'm going to.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Oh, damn it.
- 26:00Speaker 3: We're running low. Several U.S. military leaders have apparently told
- 26:05Speaker 3: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that a long, large-scale operation against
- 26:12Speaker 3: Iran is just unsustainable and risks weakening their ability to
- 26:18Speaker 3: confront threats in other parts of the world. The warnings,
- 26:22Speaker 3: detailed for Hegseth by the heads of the Army, Navy,
- 26:25Speaker 3: and Air Force, and the four-star commanders overseeing U.S. ops
- 26:29Speaker 3: throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America, appeared in the August
- 26:33Speaker 3: 14th edition of the Secretary of Defense Orders book, the SDOB. Wow.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Okay. And on from that, we go. to the Pentagon
- 26:47Speaker 2: secretly installing military influencers in civilian roles. All right. Hey, chat.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Check this out. Some new armaments. Tapping on it, because
- 27:01Speaker 2: that's what you do, apparently. You have to tap on
- 27:03Speaker 2: everything when you're an influencer. Oh, my gosh. Look at
- 27:05Speaker 2: this new makeup. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. All right, chat.
- 27:10Speaker 2: What's up, fam?
- 27:11Speaker 3: Guys.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Guys, check this out. Could take out two city blocks.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Boom.
- 27:18Speaker 2: One time. All right. Got some drones. Oh, my God.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I love the drones. Look at this. So I'm at brunch,
- 27:25Speaker 2: and I'm like, got to get me some of them drones.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Tap, tap.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I don't know where the tapping comes from.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Somebody's been doom scrolling too much.
- 27:36Speaker 2: All the time. I'm ADHD, man. That's what quiets my mind.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 27:41Speaker 2: It's what gets me through all the hurtful things that
- 27:43Speaker 2: Kono says off the air about me.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Iceland may continue to stand alone. The future of Iceland's
- 27:52Speaker 3: bid to join the European Union is going to be
- 27:54Speaker 3: debated by its parliament because a majority of voters voted
- 27:59Speaker 3: against restarting accession talks in this weekend's referendum. So basically
- 28:06Speaker 3: the voters said, no, we don't want to we don't
- 28:08Speaker 3: want to join the EU.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Why not?
- 28:12Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Is it because it's you?
- 28:16Speaker 3: Maybe they like their own money.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I don't know much about Iceland, except you know what
- 28:22Speaker 2: I know about Greenland and Iceland?
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Iceland doesn't have ice and Greenland is icy.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Is that like some military scam or they just
- 28:32Speaker 2: didn't want people coming over? Because if that's the case,
- 28:36Speaker 2: I'd say call them both Iceland. If you call one Greenland, oh,
- 28:42Speaker 2: and then it's the old switcheroonie. You get there, and
- 28:46Speaker 2: it's not green. It's ice.
- 28:51Speaker 3: No? I don't know.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Hey, I'm just trying to figure out and do the
- 28:54Speaker 2: heavy lifting here.
- 28:56Speaker 3: It's the classic bait and switch. Yeah.
- 28:58Speaker 2: With my big logic brain. It's so heavy. That's why
- 29:03Speaker 2: my face is round. All right. Aaron Donald. This has
- 29:07Speaker 2: to do with the sports ball. Here's a sports ball
- 29:10Speaker 2: story for those who like the sports ball. He's returned
- 29:12Speaker 2: to the Los Angeles Rams, your L.A. Rams, ending his
- 29:16Speaker 2: retirement after two and a half years. He is 35. Kono,
- 29:24Speaker 2: you know about these things, right? He's 35 years old.
- 29:27Speaker 2: That's a little long in the tooth for footballs. It
- 29:31Speaker 2: used to be.
- 29:32Speaker 5: I think Tom Brady and peptides, the peptides have made
- 29:36Speaker 5: everyone younger.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Amy, you were talking about the peptides earlier. We were.
- 29:40Speaker 3: We were talking about the peptides.
- 29:41Speaker 2: And what's that all about? Because I've been talking with doctors,
- 29:46Speaker 2: and there's not a whole lot... There's not a lot
- 29:49Speaker 2: of confirmation about stuff.
- 29:52Speaker 3: That's what this doctor said, too. We talked to Dr.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Joe Gulati, and he basically said they can make all
- 29:56Speaker 3: the claims they want, but they're not FDA approved, so
- 29:59Speaker 3: they don't have to... You know, they don't have to
- 30:02Speaker 3: have a certain amount of anything in there. They don't
- 30:04Speaker 3: have to have proven results.
- 30:06Speaker 2: And what do they call them, Kona? Stacks? They do stacks, yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Wolverine stack is like a big one. You stack a
- 30:13Speaker 2: bunch of different ones. And they're supposed– because one's for energy,
- 30:18Speaker 2: one's for memory, one's for– Recovery. Recovery after workouts and
- 30:22Speaker 2: things like that, right? Yeah.
- 30:24Speaker 5: There's also like former baseball players that were on– enhancers
- 30:29Speaker 5: that got popped this is what they were on they
- 30:31Speaker 5: were on peptides to yeah so that you would recover
- 30:35Speaker 5: faster if it's not fda what are you getting it
- 30:37Speaker 5: at a convenience store or 7-eleven with your boner pills
- 30:40Speaker 5: or usually like a website or a doctor or they
- 30:44Speaker 5: but what doctor is prescribing them if they're not fda
- 30:48Speaker 5: approved i'm sure they're out there well yes you can
- 30:51Speaker 5: get doctors get anything because also fda it's like how
- 30:54Speaker 5: much you're gonna pay to get your approval you know Okay.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Well, it's like everybody does it. Anyways, Aaron Donald is back,
- 31:04Speaker 2: and he's a freak of nature. Who is back?
- 31:07Speaker 3: He must be on his pep talk.
- 31:08Speaker 2: The story that you started with. It's Aaron Donald back
- 31:10Speaker 2: at the Rams. He's a freak of nature because of
- 31:13Speaker 2: his ability, prowess, strength.
- 31:15Speaker 3: All of that. He's really great. He's a great player.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It's going to be the greatest defensive line. Why did
- 31:19Speaker 2: he retire? Want to hang out with his family. Oh,
- 31:23Speaker 2: and now he doesn't? He won a championship.
- 31:25Speaker 5: When you get a chance to play with Miles Garrett
- 31:27Speaker 5: and then become the greatest defensive line maybe ever.
- 31:31Speaker 2: You do it. But was Miles on the peptides? My
- 31:35Speaker 2: guess is everyone is. Now I'm curious. I want to
- 31:39Speaker 2: know about the peptides.
- 31:40Speaker 3: They're all the rage right now, Neil.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Can they bring back hair? I don't think. Oh, yeah.
- 31:45Speaker 3: No, it is. It's for like hair and joints.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Oh, cut my joints. I was not kind to my
- 31:51Speaker 2: body as a young person. I did a lot of
- 31:54Speaker 2: stupid things. You know, one of those phases I went through,
- 31:57Speaker 2: I wanted to be a stunt person. Really? Yeah. So
- 32:00Speaker 2: I beat the crap out of my body doing high falls.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Did you ever do any real stunt work?
- 32:06Speaker 2: No.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Just did it for fun?
- 32:08Speaker 1: No.
- 32:09Speaker 2: I mean, from when I was a small kid, I
- 32:11Speaker 2: went through a couple really, really defining things that I
- 32:16Speaker 2: ended up not doing. Then I went into radio. What
- 32:18Speaker 2: the hell? But yeah, I really loved, like in third grade,
- 32:22Speaker 2: I did a stunt show, a full Western stunt show
- 32:24Speaker 2: for the talent show.
- 32:28Speaker 3: How fun.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Breakaway boards and chairs.
- 32:30Speaker 3: I bet it was a hit.
- 32:32Speaker 2: In the face. All right. On that funny note.
- 32:37Speaker 3: No?
- 32:39Speaker 2: The chair does it. Chair takes away all funny. The
- 32:42Speaker 2: chair is comedy cancer. Horrible thing to say. All right,
- 32:47Speaker 2: back with more of the show. Neil Saavedra and the
- 32:50Speaker 2: Morning Crew. Handle's out. I don't know what's going on. KFI,
- 32:55Speaker 2: heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 32:57Speaker 1: You've been listening to The Bill Handel Show. Catch my
- 32:59Speaker 1: show Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and
- 33:03Speaker 1: anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
