- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to Cleaston. Convos presented by state form. Don't
- 0:03Speaker 1: settlef with just any insurance unless it's state form.
- 0:05Speaker 2: How we're doing is that.
- 0:06Speaker 3: We're doing well, do bo. Thanks for having me.
- 0:08Speaker 1: So we're gonna play a game called presser release. Press
- 0:10Speaker 1: equals false, release equals true.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Okay, press is false, Release is true. Gout, you like
- 0:16Speaker 2: the curly blood hair more than a short buzz.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Press is false, he said, press is false, release is true.
- 0:24Speaker 3: So pressed, long curly hair is a terrible look. I
- 0:26Speaker 3: had obviously horrible friends that didn't tell me it was
- 0:29Speaker 3: a terrible look.
- 0:30Speaker 2: What the picture looked like. Yeah, see this is terrible. Yeah,
- 0:34Speaker 2: that is not. That's not.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I was like fifteen years old. Adam Morrison. You probably
- 0:37Speaker 3: don't even remember Adam Morrison. You're too young. He was
- 0:39Speaker 3: an amazing basketball player for Gonzaga back in the day and
- 0:42Speaker 3: had long hair, and so I thought I was a
- 0:44Speaker 3: basketball player, and so I like the long hair. Look.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It was terrible in hindsight, All.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Right, press a release. Your wife Julie is more competitive
- 0:51Speaker 1: than you.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I would say released because that means true. Obviously, she's
- 0:59Speaker 3: a she's a she's a competitor. Obviously, we don't compete
- 1:03Speaker 3: as much in like the little things that we used to.
- 1:05Speaker 3: It's not like we're running around the house changing diapers.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Who could change diaper faster and whatnot. She's an amazing
- 1:11Speaker 3: athlete and as a married man, your wife's better than
- 1:14Speaker 3: you had everything.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm gonna go with that.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Okay, okay, we got two more. You could have played
- 1:21Speaker 1: college basketball if you want it. I like, I've seen
- 1:23Speaker 1: you shoot in the locker room.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Like I would say, that's released.
- 1:26Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I don't know how high of a level I could
- 1:30Speaker 3: have played. It's not like I was going D one
- 1:31Speaker 3: like Major D one. But I think I could have
- 1:33Speaker 3: played at some small schools, probably made a Cinderella run
- 1:37Speaker 3: in March Madness be an icon for a release.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Hoop Dreams for.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Sure presser release, Last Morning presser release. You see Philly
- 1:48Speaker 1: as your second home?
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I love Philly.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I don't know if it's I mean, I love Virginia obviously,
- 1:56Speaker 3: I love being here. Philly had amazing nine years there.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It will always be a part of me, part of
- 2:02Speaker 3: my family. Everyone knows I feel about the city. Our
- 2:04Speaker 3: foundation is still doing work there. So yeah, we love it.
- 2:08Speaker 1: We're gonna talk a little Commanders football. This is just
- 2:10Speaker 1: second year with the Commanders. Why did you choose to
- 2:13Speaker 1: sign here?
- 2:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I've I've loved being here first and
- 2:16Speaker 3: foremost since I got here. But a few years back,
- 2:19Speaker 3: I was in Arizona. It was a tough end to
- 2:22Speaker 3: my career in Arizona, and so I wanted to get
- 2:27Speaker 3: back with Cliff when I saw he was the OC here.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I didn't really know d Q at the time, didn't
- 2:31Speaker 3: really know who the quarterback situation was. But I had
- 2:35Speaker 3: love playing for Cliff when I was in Arizona. So
- 2:37Speaker 3: when I had the opportunity to come here and play
- 2:39Speaker 3: for him, someone that has believed in me wholeheartedly from
- 2:41Speaker 3: the moment that I got with him, it was a
- 2:44Speaker 3: no brainer.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And then we drafted Jadeen.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Being here with DQ is just far surpassed every expectation
- 2:51Speaker 3: I had coming here, and I've loved every bit of
- 2:53Speaker 3: it for sure.
- 2:54Speaker 2: For sure.
- 2:55Speaker 1: As you mentioned, you know you played with Cliff in Arizona.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Did he recruit you here? And what does Cliff bring
- 3:02Speaker 1: to this offense?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Cliff is the offense. So the offense is how
- 3:07Speaker 3: he wants it. It's his system, it's his scheme. I
- 3:10Speaker 3: feel like he has a lot of autonomy to kind
- 3:12Speaker 3: of do what he wants. The Q isn't isn't micromanaging
- 3:14Speaker 3: anyone in this building, which I'm sure the coaches love.
- 3:18Speaker 3: And Yeah, he definitely recruited me here. We had some
- 3:21Speaker 3: we had some success in Arizona together. He knew my
- 3:24Speaker 3: skill set. He thought I could add value to this team,
- 3:26Speaker 3: this organization. So yeah, he was a big part of
- 3:29Speaker 3: the reason I came here, and we definitely had our
- 3:31Speaker 3: conversations before I signed.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, He's definitely the offense behind everything. So
- 3:36Speaker 1: we're gonna play a game called Guest the Performance. We're
- 3:38Speaker 1: gonna show you a picture. I have three hints if
- 3:41Speaker 1: you need a hint.
- 3:41Speaker 2: We're looking like stats yards. We're going catches, yards, touchdown,
- 3:46Speaker 2: catches yards, touchdowns. All right, So Guests the Performance. We
- 3:49Speaker 2: got the picture showing on the screen right now. I
- 3:50Speaker 2: have three hints.
- 3:51Speaker 3: If you need one, I'm gonna go, Uh, this is
- 3:55Speaker 3: Cardinals Seahawks. Obviously, I think it was like seven for
- 4:00Speaker 3: seventy seven and two touchdowns.
- 4:02Speaker 2: It was eight fordy eight eight Forrady eight two touchdowns.
- 4:05Speaker 2: He was close. He was close.
- 4:07Speaker 1: All right, we gotta put the second picture up please,
- 4:10Speaker 1: twenty twenty one.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Oh, this is the Falcons game last year. This was
- 4:18Speaker 3: like five for seventy six and two touchdowns.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You actually went six for seventy two and two touchdowns. Okay,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you close, You're close. You're knocking at the door. Last one,
- 4:30Speaker 1: last picture.
- 4:33Speaker 3: This is the playoff game against the Lions. It was
- 4:39Speaker 3: I don't think the yards for catcher was that great.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I think it was like five for thirty eight in
- 4:48Speaker 3: a touchdown, five for twenty eight, five for twenty eight
- 4:51Speaker 3: in a touchdown. Yards for catchers there, But we're working
- 4:55Speaker 3: on that this year.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Talk about that game. How was that game? What was
- 4:57Speaker 1: the you know, the motivation going on to that game?
- 5:00Speaker 1: You know, we played Detroit in the NFC Championship as well,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and they about blew us out until we came back. So, like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: how was it playing in Detroit because we ended up
- 5:08Speaker 1: playing them at home.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was an awesome game obviously for
- 5:13Speaker 3: us to be able to put it. They were the
- 5:14Speaker 3: one seed. The stadium was rocking, and it was probably
- 5:18Speaker 3: our most complete game as a team. Offense, defense, special
- 5:23Speaker 3: teams really really played well. Jaden was unconscious, and so
- 5:28Speaker 3: it was just an environment that we went into as
- 5:30Speaker 3: a team that no one really picked us to have
- 5:32Speaker 3: success against them because they were so good, so talented,
- 5:36Speaker 3: and we just had a better day that day.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You said, JD is the closest thing that Andrew. Look
- 5:41Speaker 1: you've been around, what comparison you see in them both?
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Well, I played with Andrew in college,
- 5:48Speaker 3: played with Jaden obviously now currently, and they're probably the
- 5:53Speaker 3: most talented players. I've played with Andrew in college obviously.
- 5:58Speaker 3: In college was insane playing with him, but he he
- 6:02Speaker 3: was so good, but it was never about him. He
- 6:05Speaker 3: would never want any of the credit. If the TVs
- 6:07Speaker 3: were showing him in the locker room, he go up
- 6:09Speaker 3: to the television turn the TV off because he didn't
- 6:11Speaker 3: want ever to be about him. And I feel like
- 6:13Speaker 3: Jay is the similar in that regard. He's super, super talented,
- 6:16Speaker 3: you don't get drafted number two overall when the Heisman
- 6:19Speaker 3: without that, But he's just so humble, one of the
- 6:22Speaker 3: guys and dog dog competitor, and so it's never about them,
- 6:28Speaker 3: and they just want to be one of the guys.
- 6:30Speaker 3: They care about people, and they exhaust themselves in the process.
- 6:34Speaker 3: So I've loved playing for Jayden since the moment he got.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Here for sure. Let's talk the loss about loss to
- 6:40Speaker 2: the Packers. Correct.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Does the team live up to the hype? I can
- 6:43Speaker 1: kind of start off, you know, early on in the
- 6:46Speaker 1: week d he was talking about how fast they defense was,
- 6:48Speaker 1: like flying to the ball, like the past rush is
- 6:51Speaker 1: that and the third I wouldn't say it's like kind
- 6:53Speaker 1: of like live up to the hype. I think it's
- 6:54Speaker 1: just like kind of like the standard Lafloord's trying to
- 6:57Speaker 1: build over there. They came out flying, you know, in
- 7:03Speaker 1: in in the offensive aspect, you like to get going early,
- 7:06Speaker 1: like little dicks and dunks, just to you know what
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'm saying, settle j down in my opinion just a
- 7:10Speaker 1: little bit, and just to get the flow of the
- 7:12Speaker 1: game rolling of like how Cliff like to call the
- 7:14Speaker 1: call the plays and how we liked to get rolling.
- 7:17Speaker 1: But they I think their defense was pretty good. I
- 7:20Speaker 1: thought the defense pretty good.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I mean, we they're obviously very talented, they've they're extremely
- 7:25Speaker 3: well coached. I got a lot of respect for that
- 7:26Speaker 3: decordinator and I talked about the prior to the game.
- 7:29Speaker 3: The one thing you don't want to do is get
- 7:30Speaker 3: behind to them early and become one dimensional because the
- 7:33Speaker 3: pass rushers with Micah and the rest of the guys
- 7:35Speaker 3: are just too too good, too talented to just live
- 7:37Speaker 3: in that situation. And unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to us.
- 7:41Speaker 3: We got down early and it became one dimensional, and
- 7:44Speaker 3: so for us, we just had a bad day. I
- 7:46Speaker 3: wouldn't put too much stock into our performance. I'm not.
- 7:49Speaker 3: I don't think anyone's over here in the panic button
- 7:51Speaker 3: like what happened to us. It's a long season. We
- 7:54Speaker 3: want to continue to improve as the season goes on.
- 7:58Speaker 3: But they definitely were better team that night.
- 8:01Speaker 2: For sure.
- 8:01Speaker 1: We know we got the Raiders coming in this weekend.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I kind of watched them a little bit last night.
- 8:06Speaker 1: What challenges do you think they pose? And how do
- 8:09Speaker 1: you feel about Brock Bowers and Aston Gent.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know a lot about Ashton Denty.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Obviously, I was asleep last night for that game when
- 8:17Speaker 3: it comes on at ten pm, I'm gonna miss that one.
- 8:21Speaker 3: But Brock is a phenomenal player. What he did last
- 8:23Speaker 3: year was incredible. To come into the league as a
- 8:26Speaker 3: hot hot obviously a high draft pick and put up
- 8:28Speaker 3: the numbers he did was phenomenal. And the Raiders, you know,
- 8:31Speaker 3: if Pete, they're gonna be extremely well coached. They're fast. Defensively,
- 8:36Speaker 3: they fly around Max probably top two, top one, top
- 8:40Speaker 3: three pass rushers in the league. Relentless effort. You know,
- 8:44Speaker 3: he's always gonna fly around. He sets the tone for
- 8:46Speaker 3: that whole building. And so, yeah, they're gonna be well coached.
- 8:49Speaker 3: They're gonna play fast, they're gonna play hard. It's gonna
- 8:52Speaker 3: be it's gonna be a tough game for us, honestly
- 8:54Speaker 3: for sure.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Now it's signed for the don't settle segment brought to
- 8:57Speaker 1: you by State Farm. For this, you're gonna choose the
- 8:59Speaker 1: school that you think has a better tight end university.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So we go Stanford or Oklahoma. I'm gonna say Stanford.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We go Stanford or Notre Dame Stanford, Stanford or Miami, Uh, Stanford.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Stanford of Iowa.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Oh Man, shout out to my guys, George TJ. Noah,
- 9:26Speaker 3: But I'm biased in this. This is You're not gonna
- 9:29Speaker 3: get an unbiased answer out of me here. So I'm
- 9:30Speaker 3: gonna say Stanford.
- 9:31Speaker 2: All right.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So that kind of answers my next question like, why
- 9:34Speaker 1: did you choose Stanford of all these schools? And I'm
- 9:37Speaker 1: looking at a good bit of these names, and there's
- 9:42Speaker 1: some guys on here. Yeah, of course I'm not saying,
- 9:44Speaker 1: but I mean, it's not gonna unbiased answer.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I think I will currently probably tighten you. I think Stanford,
- 9:51Speaker 3: if you're a tight end, I would love if I
- 9:53Speaker 3: was getting recruited right now. I feel like Stanford is
- 9:55Speaker 3: the school you and what you want, want to and
- 9:57Speaker 3: should go to. Obviously I has a few first round
- 10:01Speaker 3: draft picks recently, but I'm biased to Stanford. I feel
- 10:04Speaker 3: like they developed the tight ends amazingly. Obviously I'm a
- 10:07Speaker 3: product of it, so there's a lot of bias there.
- 10:09Speaker 3: But in terms of the whole experience, I mean, you
- 10:12Speaker 3: got a better experience than Stanford.
- 10:13Speaker 1: So what makes a school tight end you? Is it
- 10:19Speaker 1: the players in the league?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah? Or is the players in the Hall of Fame?
- 10:24Speaker 3: Oh well, I don't know. Stanford has a tight end
- 10:27Speaker 3: in the Hall of Fame.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I mean we got one on the way, But I
- 10:32Speaker 1: think probably tight en you would be drafted, Probably drafted
- 10:37Speaker 1: because it's like your I wouldn't say maybe it's league success,
- 10:40Speaker 1: it's probably drafted, so for that, maybe Iowa.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Appreciate you, Zach appreciate you.
- 10:47Speaker 1: This was another episode of clesing conos percented by state farm.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Don't sett up with just any insurance unless it's state
- 10:52Speaker 1: formed
