- 0:00Speaker 1: We're back with Jason Campbell alive the Iheartmusic Lounge here
- 0:04Speaker 1: in Hartford. Join us for the twenty twenty sixth season
- 0:09Speaker 1: open Saturday, September fifth. The Leopards of Lafayette will be
- 0:12Speaker 1: in at Pratt and Whitney Stadium. Covers for us on
- 0:15Speaker 1: the radio network nine Am Yukon Football Game Day on
- 0:19Speaker 1: our flagship ninety seven nine and the network pregame starts
- 0:22Speaker 1: at ten thirty. As we get ready to kick off
- 0:25Speaker 1: and play some football on the Varsited Network app in
- 0:27Speaker 1: the Varsitynetwork dot com. A lot of folks listen on
- 0:30Speaker 1: the Varsitat Network app to Yukon football around the country.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You know, like any university, you've got all these graduates
- 0:35Speaker 1: who just don't live in the area anymore, but they
- 0:38Speaker 1: want to find out what's going on, so they'll be
- 0:39Speaker 1: listening to us and your games. When we start against Lafayette,
- 0:45Speaker 1: we cannot continue and we only have a few minutes
- 0:48Speaker 1: to wrap it up with. I'll talk about offensive linemen.
- 0:50Speaker 1: They're the scariest dudes to watch practice. In my mind.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I like to go on the field before the game
- 0:55Speaker 1: and see the warmups and I get close like we're
- 0:59Speaker 1: like five feet away from each other, and I don't
- 1:01Speaker 1: want to get any closer than five feet to an
- 1:04Speaker 1: offensive lineman because those guys are the scariest people on
- 1:07Speaker 1: the planet.
- 1:09Speaker 2: They're necessary evil. You have to have them. You're not
- 1:12Speaker 2: anything without them. They're they're they're the essence of what
- 1:15Speaker 2: football should be. They don't ask for anything, they don't
- 1:19Speaker 2: have to wear all the cool stuff. They just shut up.
- 1:22Speaker 2: They work, and they do what they're supposed to do.
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's great. I wish I had three offensive lineman children,
- 1:29Speaker 2: but unfortunately they don't listen like a lineman.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Food bill would go up.
- 1:34Speaker 2: But no, I think our guys have done a really
- 1:36Speaker 2: good job, you know, getting acclimated to how we play
- 1:41Speaker 2: and what we are we were asking of them to do.
- 1:44Speaker 2: You know, we got Ty Chan will probably be anchors
- 1:47Speaker 2: in there at right guard, who played a lot of
- 1:48Speaker 2: football here for you know, this team last year. You
- 1:52Speaker 2: got Terrence Moore transferred in from Toledo, who's a really
- 1:55Speaker 2: good player. You got Darren McLaughlin who was here last year.
- 1:57Speaker 2: You got Isaiah Switzer that's playing really really well tackle.
- 2:00Speaker 2: We got Christian Richter who came from Marshall was a
- 2:03Speaker 2: really good tackle Fred Johnson at guard from Louisville. Tamaris
- 2:07Speaker 2: Walker from here. Last year off of this team, uh
- 2:13Speaker 2: Honess Hammer from Virginia Tech transferred into tackles. I had
- 2:16Speaker 2: a really good camp. You know, I think you got
- 2:19Speaker 2: you want to get to have eight guys that you
- 2:20Speaker 2: feel like you can go in there and compete. You
- 2:22Speaker 2: may lose one or two due to injury, which we
- 2:24Speaker 2: haven't you know, had that, you know, knock on wood.
- 2:27Speaker 2: To this point in time, You're want to keep those
- 2:28Speaker 2: big guys healthy and you want to be able to
- 2:30Speaker 2: be multiple in some of the sets that you have.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You want to be able to get in some of
- 2:32Speaker 2: those big formations and short yards. So yeah, they've they've
- 2:36Speaker 2: had a lot of learning, they've had a lot thrown
- 2:38Speaker 2: on their plate, and they've responded in a major way.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I used to cover the Giants for a lot of
- 2:42Speaker 1: years in New York and when they were good once
- 2:44Speaker 1: in a while, they had great offensive lines. Sure, Bardos
- 2:48Speaker 1: is the first guy I remember thinking, oh my goodness,
- 2:50Speaker 1: this guy. If we don't have him, well we got nothing.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Center is so important, isn't it to an offensive line
- 2:57Speaker 1: for the communication?
- 2:58Speaker 2: Because the diversity on d schematically is just off the charts, right.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I mean there's you know, there's three man fronts, there's
- 3:06Speaker 2: four men fronts, there's five men fronts, there's two man fronts.
- 3:08Speaker 2: There's guys blitzing from all over the place. So if
- 3:10Speaker 2: you can't get the communication right and the quarterback in
- 3:13Speaker 2: the center can't be on the same page, then it
- 3:15Speaker 2: really doesn't matter what the coach is doing. So you know,
- 3:18Speaker 2: that guy's got to be the ultimate thinker.
- 3:20Speaker 1: All right, who's the center, Jevin.
- 3:22Speaker 2: That'll be either Terrence Moore Darren McLoughlin, and you know
- 3:24Speaker 2: one of those guys will if whichever one doesn't win
- 3:27Speaker 2: the job, will you know, like we'll play. We're both
- 3:30Speaker 2: gonna play a lot. They're both gonna play a guard
- 3:31Speaker 2: and you know, or at center, and you know that'll
- 3:35Speaker 2: be you know, really you view center, guard and guard
- 3:38Speaker 2: as you know in your interior guys, and you want
- 3:40Speaker 2: to make sure you have four or five of those
- 3:42Speaker 2: guys ready to go every game.
- 3:43Speaker 1: All right, we're ready to go. We think Jason Campbell
- 3:46Speaker 1: you got football coach. We thank all of you for
- 3:50Speaker 1: coming out. Oh, we want to see you on the
- 3:53Speaker 1: fifth of September at the Rent. Don't make any excuses
- 3:58Speaker 1: be there. You can again, Slafa Yea, thanks for joining us.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I'm my crispaino
