- 0:01The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 0:03MBR talk. Hey thanks for tuning.
- 0:09In Welcome Back you think of a real or a social media post like
- 0:13a seed up there all by itself, doing its job, linked to SEO,
- 0:20hashtags and keywords in your post.
- 0:22And. Depending on what kind of
- 0:26audience you have, seeing the growth, seeing each individual
- 0:32post act like a way to get a client, get the word out about
- 0:41you. So if you're a small business
- 0:44out there, that's what I do and I love doing it and I'm good at
- 0:50it. You want to think of those
- 0:54personalities under your roof, The funny guy in the kitchen
- 0:58nobody sees in your restaurant? Film him.
- 1:02Show the people who's cooking their food.
- 1:04You'll get more people. That's the tip for today.
- 1:10Go hiking. The views and opinions expressed
- 1:34on the Morning Wood show are strictly those of a crazy lady
- 1:37in a tree and most definitely not the views of military
- 1:40broadcast radio. You've been warned.
- 1:43Proceed with caution. We are not liable if you laugh
- 1:46so hard you fall out of your chair.
- 1:48So grab your spoon, smack that rooster, and let's get this day
- 1:52started right. Let's get ready for the morning
- 1:54Wood Coca Doodle. Oh
- 2:26live, ladies and gentlemen, for the Veteran Voice Studios here
- 2:31in Denver, Co, it is another edition of the Bad Holly Morning
- 2:35Wood show. That's.
- 2:37Right. We are live from the Veterans
- 2:39Voice Studio. This is the morning wood show.
- 2:42I am your morning wood, Bad Holly, because Good Holly's
- 2:47being held hostage. She ain't joking.
- 2:52This wolves crazy. They're not.
- 2:54I'm not. So good.
- 2:56We got a, we got a lot in store for you.
- 2:58This this, this morning, This morning.
- 3:02This morning. Double hour of hour couple of
- 3:05the. Morning to you, Governor.
- 3:07We've we've got some fun interviews coming up we're going
- 3:10to have. We're going to have American
- 3:14Family Organization, their tag lines.
- 3:17I got your 6. They're having a remote on July
- 3:2212th, July 14th and we're going to be talking to them about that
- 3:28remote. It's cars, it's a show car show
- 3:32motorcycles, you know basically anything that you have that you
- 3:37want to show off, you can do that and I'm sure Debbie will
- 3:42tell us more about it. I, I'm, I'm pretty sure that
- 3:45they have like a big trophy or something for an award for it,
- 3:48but it's going to be held at the Douglas County Fairground and
- 3:54MBR is going to not only be there on site, but we're also
- 3:59going to be streaming live on our TV channel, Roku.
- 4:05And I, I have no idea if you're going to be there or not.
- 4:07Oh. I see I I had a feeling he was
- 4:10going to put me in the spot. I don't know, I don't know.
- 4:15So I put it in my calendar. Yeah, so you'll.
- 4:18Have a little morning. Well, yeah, there, there now
- 4:22will give people really to come so that they can meet you.
- 4:25And I don't know, Caveman and HG, they might be there, they
- 4:30might not. I have no idea.
- 4:32You know, I'll tell you what, just so everybody knows, these
- 4:36individuals, they come in here every morning at 6:00 AM and we
- 4:42show prep and they're all volunteers.
- 4:45They don't get paid. We don't have sponsors.
- 4:47We don't have, you know, big money thing.
- 4:50We, we pay them in Donuts. We give them Donuts for, you
- 4:55know, free breakfast and and free coffee.
- 4:58But you know, I, I haven't, I haven't said it a lot, but you
- 5:02know, I, I'm very grateful for you and caveman and Miss Vicki.
- 5:07You know, you guys take out a portion of your time every week
- 5:11to come here and, you know, just announce news about the
- 5:15veterans. Well, passion is power.
- 5:18Passion is power and it's therapy.
- 5:20And right now I've, I've got a little, I got a happy heartbeat
- 5:24going and you can't pay me or I mean, you could give me money if
- 5:30you want to, but I don't know if you're going to get the same
- 5:33heartbeat. You.
- 5:34Have to give me a lot of money to get.
- 5:37I was like, oh, just put that in your mouth.
- 5:42But no, for real. It's it's it's something too
- 5:45that builds it. It really builds confidence.
- 5:49And when it, when it comes to all walks of life too, you feel
- 5:53like you can handle any situation.
- 5:55Yeah, I've been on live radio. Yeah, come on, what you got to
- 6:01tell me. Come on, I got this.
- 6:04And when you're listening to when you're listening to iheart,
- 6:07when you're listening to Intercom and Odyssey, like they
- 6:13they pre record like we're you're, you're getting a raw
- 6:19thought process. Yeah, which, you know, it's,
- 6:23it's, it's funny because when I first started podcasting in
- 6:262015, it took me hours and hours to edit.
- 6:31I mean, you, you remember the old days where I used to edit,
- 6:35edit. And then you start doing the
- 6:37video and you don't edit anymore, you know, because
- 6:41people, you know, it's like you're, it's like your promo
- 6:45with, you know, showing the cook.
- 6:47You know, people want to see, people want to see.
- 6:51Like for example, if you go to a comedy thing, there's a reason
- 6:55why they have a 2 drink minimum. Sometimes they're not very
- 6:58funny, but if you listen to them on the radio compared to
- 7:03watching them in person, it's a totally different aspect because
- 7:09you see their reaction when they're telling the jokes, you
- 7:12know, And that's the funny part. But you you can't grasp that in
- 7:16audio. No, I, I, I feel that I'm, I
- 7:21started alongside you there where, yeah, a lot of this audio
- 7:26stuff was transforming into you needed a video aspect or you
- 7:31were flat and just, you know, and there's, there's no more you
- 7:36have a face for you have a face for radio now.
- 7:38You have to have so many elements attached to that, like
- 7:41your social media, right? You have to have some relevance.
- 7:45It's not just oh, I'm I got a morning wood show.
- 7:48You got to keep up the social status and you know, you have to
- 7:52feed your audience in in every every little category, you know,
- 7:58like here, here's this is the fun one.
- 8:00This is this is this is the fun, fun way to do it.
- 8:05It really is. But when it when it comes to
- 8:08sponsors and when I when I get a military MB, MB radio is it.com
- 8:19dot USDOT US. So when you go to MNB radio dot
- 8:23US, you're gonna see merch. You're also going to see that
- 8:27you can have a spot you. So if if you're a small business
- 8:31out there and you're like, I just need to get the word out
- 8:34about me. That's what that's what we're
- 8:36here for, honestly. And that's where we can, you
- 8:40know. Yeah, I guess we're going to be
- 8:41definitely cheaper than 92.5 or one of those other radio
- 8:46stations. So just so you know, but you
- 8:49know, when when you donate, when you ask us to promote you and
- 8:55you donate, I mean, it's going to be tax deductible and that
- 8:59money, you know, it's not going to corporate wallet.
- 9:02It's literally going to gear to get these veterans so that they
- 9:06can, you know, do it from their house for those that cannot be
- 9:12here in studio here in Colorado, so.
- 9:14Well, let's explain that process.
- 9:16So if if you're someone out there and you know, you have,
- 9:20you know, a veteran loved one and they're like, they're kind
- 9:24of in this, this teeter totter of.
- 9:27They're kind of floating. They, they want to do it, but
- 9:30they don't have the money and they don't want to explore with
- 9:34their wallet like a vet. No, I, I, I, I totally get what
- 9:37you're saying. MBR is the perfect place to go
- 9:41because it started with the headset, USB headset and a
- 9:46laptop. And we don't want you spending
- 9:49money. We want you having fun and
- 9:53creating. Maybe it's something for you.
- 9:56Maybe that outlet's there for you, maybe it's not.
- 9:58You know, we don't know. I do want to say that, you know,
- 10:04I just so everybody knows the only reason why I'm not like
- 10:09super energetic today and I'm I'm trying for everybody that
- 10:13follows me and that knows of my service dog Barrett.
- 10:18We had to put him down yesterday.
- 10:23It's it, it's, it's, it's quite numbing.
- 10:28My, my first feelings is I don't know why anybody would want a
- 10:31dog, but I'm sure I'll my, my feelings and stuff will change
- 10:35throughout the week. But I just want to let everybody
- 10:38know that knows Baird, that follows him, You know, I took
- 10:44pictures. We went on one last walk.
- 10:47We went on one last ride and we went on one last, you know, give
- 10:52them a treat. You know, so I just, I just
- 10:56wanted to say that and you know it before we go to our first
- 11:00commercial break, it's it's time for mail call.
- 11:03We have a a veteran spotlight. So once again, mail call Nixon
- 11:10attention. Mail call apartment Nixon
- 11:15Bermuda. Is the first Wednesday of the
- 11:24month. It is Wednesday, June 4th, which
- 11:26means another edition of our 1210 WPHT Veteran Spotlight
- 11:30brought to you by Window Nation. For all of your window and door
- 11:34needs, visit windownation.com. As we have Rennie Campbell in
- 11:38studio with us this morning, and she is a former member of the
- 11:43United States Army and the Army, he's had some very good news to
- 11:47share and we'll get to that coming up in a moment.
- 11:50But we were just chatting during the commercial.
- 11:53And Renny, first of all, it's good to have you in studio.
- 11:56Thank you. Thanks for having me.
- 11:57And you were a great talker. So as long as you just do
- 11:59exactly what you did off the air, this will be fantastic.
- 12:03And I think you can do it because Renny is or was a drill
- 12:07Sergeant. What is that like to just whip
- 12:11everybody into shape and tell a bunch of dudes how to handle
- 12:13their business? You know it's crazy because some
- 12:17of my trainees were a lot older than me.
- 12:19They're like 2 times my age. They had like 3 kids and here.
- 12:22I am, yes. And here you are.
- 12:24So here you are. You're a Travis Manion
- 12:26Foundation Mentor for youth and serves in the Army Reserve.
- 12:30You served as a drill Sergeant in NCO, Communication, Security
- 12:34and Repair Supervisor. No clue what that means, but
- 12:37sounds very important and has recently been selected as a
- 12:40Warrant Officer candidate and an aviation officer.
- 12:44So explain to some of our non military audience what exactly
- 12:47all that means. Absolutely.
- 12:49So a Warrant Officer candidate is pretty much a person who was
- 12:53selected to be a Warrant Officer.
- 12:55Your duty is to pretty much do whatever you were selected for.
- 12:58So I got selected to be a pilot. So my future responsibility
- 13:03would be to be a fixed wing Warrant Officer in the United
- 13:07States Army. OK.
- 13:08And last year you completed your MBA at Penn State.
- 13:13We won't really talk too much about Penn State.
- 13:15I'm a Temple guy, but you know it is what it is.
- 13:18While also simultaneously completing active duty orders.
- 13:22But your education doesn't stop there as you are an aspiring Dr.
- 13:27Yes, yes I am. I got accepted to Temple
- 13:29University for their. Good choice.
- 13:31Yes, very good choice. I did my undergrad there go
- 13:34owls. Yes I got accepted to do a one
- 13:37year post back pre Med program and then hopefully with the
- 13:40nomination the following year I'd be starting medical school.
- 13:42Any idea specifically where you wanna go medically or is?
- 13:45Yes, I wanna go into surgery, general surgery.
- 13:48General Surgery. And then eventually go into
- 13:50trauma surge. OK, so you like money?
- 13:53I do is it doesn't everybody? Yes, yes we do.
- 13:55You know Cal as a drill instructor, Maybe she can help
- 13:58us train for the bike ride. Yeah, Can you whip me and Greg,
- 14:01Greg and I into shape in the next 5 1/2 weeks?
- 14:04I need to shed like 13 lbs. So we need.
- 14:06To take our bikes to the Jersey Shore from Atlantic City.
- 14:09And we're doing it all for police charity.
- 14:11So do you think you can help train us?
- 14:13Yeah. Showing you fat bodies.
- 14:15Let's go. Yeah, that would be great if you
- 14:18still have that in your system. I think I do, yeah.
- 14:20Let's do. It awesome.
- 14:21I love it. Awesome.
- 14:22So now you also are focusing on the Travis Manion Foundation
- 14:26with the Character Does Matter mentorship program.
- 14:30And TMF is very near and dear to all of our hearts.
- 14:33We're just two months removed from the last TMF Radiothon
- 14:36Foundation. What led you to this?
- 14:38Is this the way for you to kind of still be around like minded
- 14:41military people and give back to your community?
- 14:44What, what, What led you down this road?
- 14:46Absolutely. So it was actually my mentor
- 14:48that got me introduced to the Travis Manion Foundation, Jimmy
- 14:50White. Absolutely love him.
- 14:52One of the best veterans I know. He served in the Navy and he
- 14:57introduced me to it. And I just got to be a part of
- 14:59this community with incredible people.
- 15:01And honestly, I feel like it's a way for me to feed my inner
- 15:04child. I didn't get these opera.
- 15:06I didn't get to see influencers like this when I was a kid.
- 15:10So now that I'm doing it, I get to give back to kids who are
- 15:13just like me. Right.
- 15:14Real influencers, not like social media influencers with a
- 15:17million followers that make more money than we do.
- 15:19Exactly. So what led you down the
- 15:21military path? I always feel like most of the
- 15:24people that I speak to every month, they have some sort of
- 15:26family history. Was that kind of what led you
- 15:29down this road? Or are you the this the the
- 15:31redheaded stepchild? Are you the first one to go down
- 15:33this Ave. Yes, I am.
- 15:35So I'm the first person in my lineage to join the military.
- 15:39Yeah, absolutely. And I feel like I'm setting a
- 15:42path for my kids to hopefully do the same.
- 15:44OK. Yeah, and we mentioned the Army,
- 15:47they hit their recruiting goal yesterday.
- 15:49They certainly did with over four months to spare.
- 15:52And that has been a major issue for the last handful of years.
- 15:54Short of the Marines hitting their goals.
- 15:57I'm sure that makes you proud. It does make me proud.
- 15:59I saw it on Instagram and I was shocked.
- 16:02I didn't know that that happened, but it's great that it
- 16:04did because now means that drill sergeants can work full time,
- 16:07especially in the reserve all. Right, one of our YouTube
- 16:10chatters wants to know if Nick could pass the new PT exam.
- 16:15Yeah. What exactly does that consist
- 16:17of? So the Army combat fitness test,
- 16:19you have your deadlift so you know you know how to.
- 16:23Deadly. Yeah.
- 16:24I did it in high school 20 years ago.
- 16:25Is there a certain, is there a certain weight you have to do?
- 16:27Is it like one 75225? Is there a set number?
- 16:31So the minimum is 140, the maximum is 340.
- 16:34And you have to do 1 Rep. 3 reps.
- 16:36I could do. That I could do one I could do
- 16:38143 times, there's no doubt about.
- 16:39It I think 140 is the female requirement.
- 16:42Well, I identify, I am now known as Nicole and I identify as a
- 16:47female and I want to do 140. I love this.
- 16:50I love this woman. This is great.
- 16:53What are the other metrics for the other exercises as far as?
- 16:56This. Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 16:57So you have a Sprint drag carry. That's the worst one.
- 17:00That alone has like 4 different exercises in it and you have to
- 17:05do it under like 2 1/2. Minutes.
- 17:06We'll skip that one. What else we got?
- 17:09There's the ball toss. Actually, no, they got rid of
- 17:10that. OK.
- 17:11That's of June 1st all. Right shoulders.
- 17:13Shoulders a little sore anyway. There's the plank, OK hand
- 17:17release, push ups. Great stuff, Randy.
- 17:19Thank you so much and thank you for being a great patriot of.
- 17:22Course thank. You and she's going from Penn
- 17:24State to Temple. And folks, if you're watching on
- 17:27YouTube, she is donning the cherry and the white.
- 17:30Our veteran spotlight brought to you by Window Nation.
- 17:32For all your window and door needs, visit windownation.com.
- 17:37All right. So, you know, that's one of the
- 17:39segments that we like to do on the show is we just like to
- 17:42spotlight a veteran. Maybe there's a veteran that we
- 17:45don't know of that is doing incredible things.
- 17:48This is your time to shine. This is your time to invite
- 17:51them, send us the nomination and we'll we'll, we'll play it here
- 17:57on the air. Also, just so everybody knows.
- 18:01Well, it's it's kind of before your time, Holly.
- 18:04But but Mel, her father passed away this this last week and he
- 18:12was a veteran. So that's it's going to be a
- 18:15special tribute to the truth for him since he passed away.
- 18:19I'm telling you why. I'm just bringing all kinds of
- 18:21bad noise. But hey, I tell you what's.
- 18:25I want to go back to the drill Sergeant lady, change your
- 18:29mindset. Now, right?
- 18:32If, if, if you guys could like drill Sergeant something or like
- 18:36take a a Ave. of your life that was a little chaotic and then
- 18:41just channel your inner drill Sergeant.
- 18:44What would you do, caveman? Would it be in the kitchen?
- 18:49Probably, yeah. I will say though, my my my PT
- 18:53that I did for the Rockies has kind of been working out.
- 18:57They're playing. Pretty.
- 18:59They've been playing pretty decent and all I had to do is do
- 19:02some squats on a video. Really.
- 19:06I did 340 squats they allowed. So basically every time, every
- 19:10time they lose, he's paying the price.
- 19:13Come on, Rockies. Every game, every game, it's
- 19:16just however many runs they get scored, they allow, they allow.
- 19:20Oh man, and H and I guess HG is eating.
- 19:25He's got onions. He's got to eat raw and he
- 19:28forgot him on Wednesday, so now he's up to like almost probably
- 19:31like 50 onions. By next one.
- 19:33How convenient you forgot him that on the show.
- 19:38What about you, Miss Vicki? When when's the last time you
- 19:41had that, like out of control or just impulsive drill Sergeant
- 19:45mode? I'm just when I I wanted to hear
- 19:48that Lady do it. You know what I mean?
- 19:51Yeah. Give me a minute.
- 19:52OK, I, I, I feel like I do it in class and digital all the time.
- 19:57I've got this one student. He's he's he's he's super
- 20:01talented and his, his creative just just just spills out and
- 20:06I'm like, back to the topic, back to the topic, you know,
- 20:12like if, if you were able to have that element, I don't know.
- 20:15Do you think the. Could you handle that from a
- 20:19bus? Sometimes, sometimes that
- 20:21happens. How my?
- 20:22Managers are. Yeah.
- 20:23We're always changing around the menu and like trying different
- 20:26stuff to make so so. What do they sound like?
- 20:30Always something different. They're always like just talking
- 20:33to each other about prep and then like letting everybody know
- 20:36what they're doing. Is it like there's always just
- 20:37like so many questions for the kitchen?
- 20:40Is it like Hell's Kitchen? Sometimes?
- 20:42No. Well, it's after.
- 20:44We just have a bunch of broken stuff so.
- 20:46We kind of. We kind of get the benefit of
- 20:48the doubt. Our oven that we have, there's
- 20:51one like rack on the oven, it'll burn like just one half of
- 20:55whatever is on the tray. So there's always like at least
- 20:5810 cookies that are always really burnt.
- 21:01Anytime next on Restaurant Diaries.
- 21:06That's only because it takes so long for those companies to come
- 21:09in. It at least takes two weeks for
- 21:12someone to come. In Oh yeah, something.
- 21:14Oh yeah, So it's not even really anyone's fault, it just takes a
- 21:17while. Yeah.
- 21:18Well, you, it sounds like you guys improvise, right?
- 21:22Like the food still needs to be cooked and.
- 21:24Adapt and overcome, that's what's up.
- 21:26Adapt and overcome. We got to go on our break, but
- 21:30when we come back, we're going to be hitting the what the
- 21:33moment and Holly's got some very interesting questions to ask
- 21:39people. So whatever you do, stay with
- 21:41us. Don't go away.
- 21:42You're listening to the Morning Woods show right here on the
- 21:45station. That's letting our veterans
- 21:47voices be heard. MBR.
- 21:50Time to rest the sizzle. Rest the sizzle.
- 26:09Military Broadcast Radio, the station that's giving veterans a
- 26:14voice. Find us on the web at MB Radio
- 26:17dot. Opinions expressed in this
- 26:20program are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 26:25reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 26:30All right, welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, You're listening
- 26:32to the morning wood show right here on the station that's
- 26:37letting our veterans be heard MBR and we've we got a pack
- 26:42because we got a new we got a new Mets Vicky segment today.
- 26:46So we're going to go ahead and hit the what the segments.
- 26:50They're cool tats, man. Oh, for real.
- 26:52Thank you, bro. You see the cobra?
- 26:54What is this 10 this that's my credo.
- 26:57Don't regrets. You have no regrets.
- 27:01No. Like not even a single letter.
- 27:04No way. Not me.
- 27:06I love him. I think he's great.
- 27:08I think he's a real winner. Casey, if I were you, I wouldn't
- 27:10use protection. All right, that's good.
- 27:50The reason why I'm bringing this up, ladies and gentlemen, is it
- 27:54is a new era. We saw it when Ukraine went into
- 27:58Russia and they use drones to blow up different segments
- 28:03within the sector in Russia. That right there, ladies and
- 28:07gentlemen, is a video that has been going viral this week.
- 28:13And instead of putting boots on ground, they're sending in
- 28:16androids. So that or not androids, but
- 28:19drones. And that that drone was talking
- 28:24to him telling, OK, you're surrendered.
- 28:28Follow me. So I don't I don't think there's
- 28:32going to be boots on the ground much any longer.
- 28:34That's what I'm saying. So that that video is going
- 28:37viral. Last week we touched on a little
- 28:42bit of flying IEDs. It's a new world.
- 28:48I can only imagine the strategy, you know, But my I, I, I'm
- 28:52trying not to go to the dark side in my thoughts here right
- 28:55now because it's like, well, what are you going to do when
- 28:58people are expendable, right? And you only have so many
- 29:02soldiers or so many people that enlist or what's happening?
- 29:04That's the next thing you know, OK.
- 29:07Well, I mean, we're starting to see it in fast food places.
- 29:09Have you been to Steak and Shake?
- 29:11I thought Steak and Shake, all of them were closed.
- 29:14I went to Steak and Shake this this last Saturday.
- 29:17I am not I I very rarely eat out.
- 29:21Right. So I me too.
- 29:23Me too. But I was out in my own.
- 29:25They have a Steak and Shake and when I went in there, I don't
- 29:28know. What it is?
- 29:30Steak and Shake, basically, it's kind of like in and out because
- 29:33of this. Yeah, it's a burger place.
- 29:35Except this time there was one guy on the grill and I looked at
- 29:40it and I'm like, where is everybody?
- 29:42He's like, oh, this is the new error.
- 29:45And I'm like, new error. You literally go to a kiosk, you
- 29:49order what you want. He gets it, he cooks it.
- 29:53That's it. One person on the grill, it says
- 29:58that it's 15 hours on, 15 hours off, basically.
- 30:02Oh man, I, I can't. There's, there's a lot, there's
- 30:06definitely a lot going on. There's, I mean, in this, this
- 30:10era of AI and just thinking how, how stuff is just increasingly
- 30:18just getting smarter and smarter.
- 30:21There's a, there's, there's a really good podcast.
- 30:24It's, it's called the Diary of Aceo and it has Jeffrey Hilton,
- 30:33who is a computer scientist and he's the godfather of AI.
- 30:37And in this, in this podcast, he talks about what jobs are going
- 30:44to be secure, right? And, and the host is funny.
- 30:48The host is like, so you've got grandchildren.
- 30:51What do you, what, what do you tell your grandchildren in this,
- 30:56in this world? What, where is their job
- 30:59security? And he says you need to be a
- 31:03plumber. Isn't that crazy?
- 31:07A plumber, a plumber like, that's where you're going to
- 31:10have job security. Yeah, you know it.
- 31:13I I. Basic like blue collar jobs.
- 31:15I, I don't, I don't think it's a secret right now.
- 31:18If you didn't already know you instead of going to a four year
- 31:21college, you need to go to a trade school because you can go,
- 31:24you can be the smartest person in the world.
- 31:27OK, My, my cousin is a, a, a pediatrician, a, a doctor.
- 31:33And she just now like finished up her debt just now.
- 31:39It's been over 20 years now. Trade school.
- 31:44You go to a trade school, you spend maybe 1817 grand on an
- 31:49education. I mean, you've basically paid it
- 31:53off within the first year. That that being if you got a job
- 31:57that's at least 30 or $40,000 a year.
- 32:01But new research says to live comfortably here in the state of
- 32:08Colorado, and now it's estimated that a person has to make
- 32:13$106,000 a year to live comfortably.
- 32:19It's kind of hard to even just live alone here.
- 32:22Right. It is.
- 32:22It really is. Depending on where you live,
- 32:25it's pretty hard to just like live alone or like even like be
- 32:28a parent and like live alone. It's like pretty expensive.
- 32:33Where, where I, where I struggle is I, I am only one person,
- 32:40right? And then it's, it's not having
- 32:44that either someone to kind of balance, you know.
- 32:47The you don't have that backup. Yeah, the backup, the backup.
- 32:50The backup is very important. Yeah, it really is.
- 32:54Well, how do you want to make you something?
- 32:56You're working. So hard all day, you got a
- 32:58little case of the office, but you know it's it's when you're
- 33:03you're putting in some heavy hours.
- 33:05Or when life happens, like, OK, you got to get a haircut or, oh,
- 33:11I got to do an oil change because you don't do an oil
- 33:13change every month. You do an oil change every once
- 33:16in a while, you know? How do you feel?
- 33:19Do you feel like you like could use some some backup?
- 33:25Yeah, in in my my attitude. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:31Like someone to check your what? I you're so positive.
- 33:35Because like Caveman said, yeah, you, you almost can't, cannot
- 33:43live alone. But can you get along with
- 33:47people you live with? You know.
- 33:50That's important too. It's very important.
- 33:52It's very important. Like everybody tells me, like,
- 33:55you know, as you're married or whatever, like what's the first
- 33:59thing that you would get as advice before you got married?
- 34:03And I always say investigate your spouse's upbringing.
- 34:08That's the key thing. We had a, we had one rule in, in
- 34:12my family that I guess nobody else had.
- 34:17And I, and I found out that one of my first marriage, you know,
- 34:20my starter marriage is that the living room is the living room.
- 34:26So that means that if you're not eating or you're not sleeping,
- 34:30you're in the living room watching TV, spending time with
- 34:34family, right? And that's how I was brought up.
- 34:38But a lot of people aren't brought up that way.
- 34:41A lot of people are brought up sitting in the bed eating chips,
- 34:45watching Friends episodes or, you know, just not not being at
- 34:51work, not not being at home, just always outside doing
- 34:55something. It just depends.
- 34:58Or. Not engaging with other.
- 35:00People, right? Yeah.
- 35:01Family or not. Yeah.
- 35:04Some people like to be alone and like to be quiet.
- 35:07Yeah, some people just don't know how to talk to other
- 35:09people. Let you Yeah, some people don't
- 35:12like the air conditioner. It's a.
- 35:17Sweatshop in here, do you mind? Over there in the the windows or
- 35:22turning on the everything doesn't affect everybody.
- 35:28But. Air conditioners affect affect
- 35:31me. Yeah.
- 35:33Nobody else. My family.
- 35:36So. It can be 25° in the house.
- 35:39It's not that it's not that hot outside that that we have to
- 35:44have this continuous 25°. I understand letting the house.
- 35:49Cool off a. Little bit.
- 35:51And then stop it. But most people don't don't know
- 35:55how to regulate air conditioners.
- 35:57Or yeah, they're God. There's.
- 35:59There's a lot of people that the the gate keep that temperature
- 36:02gauge on the wall, yes. If you know anyone from, we were
- 36:06talking about Arizona's weather, if you know anyone from Arizona
- 36:09that's moved here, they they keep their house very cold
- 36:12because it's just so hot there all the time, right?
- 36:15That they got to have their AC running all the time in their
- 36:18houses because it's so hot. But it's so hot.
- 36:22Should you have to wear a jacket in house?
- 36:24Well. That's how I feel.
- 36:26That's how I feel when I go there.
- 36:28But they're used to like being so hot outside that it's like a
- 36:32nice feeling when they go into it, like an extremely cold house
- 36:35because they're used to being outside in the desert forever.
- 36:39For me, I like routine. I like routine.
- 36:42Like I, I, I like that I'm able to like, get up and like go
- 36:45hiking every Monday, you know, and eating by a certain time
- 36:52and, you know, getting my groceries.
- 36:55It feels one feel healthier. I just feel.
- 36:59But I, I, I'm very spur of the moment too, though, like if
- 37:02something's cool, I'm in, I'm in, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm not
- 37:06too like set in my ways, But there's, there's comfort in
- 37:09that. Like, you know, I'm cleaning the
- 37:11kitchen this certain day, or like that's today.
- 37:15Today it's my today's my spruce, my spruce day.
- 37:20Yeah, laundry a certain day. But I I am I am a creature of
- 37:25habit. Even like where I drive some of
- 37:27my routes. Too well, and I, and I think
- 37:30it's, it's healthier for a person to have a routine, you
- 37:35know, because when you know, I, I had a old buddy of mine in the
- 37:40military used to tell me, you know, you just, you just got to
- 37:43get in a rhythm. It's like that song Johnny Cash.
- 37:45You got to get in a rhythm, you got to get in a routine.
- 37:48Once you get in a routine, you, you know, basically once you
- 37:51find your purpose, once you get that routine, then not a lot
- 37:56will not a lot will, you know, hit you off of, you know, the
- 38:00square peg. A lot of things can, but it just
- 38:05depends on how disciplined you are a cheap in your routine.
- 38:11I'm pretty darn disciplined. How are you?
- 38:14I'm pretty disciplined, but I'm able.
- 38:18I say 4060. I know nobody else is like that.
- 38:24I don't care what what what it is.
- 38:27Yeah. I have to make the adjustment
- 38:29and and and still remain calm and, you know, focused and
- 38:35everything. I, I like to, especially in this
- 38:40new AI blasting like speed release.
- 38:46I, I like an element of discovery and seeking and, and,
- 38:52and I, I like to see what else is out there.
- 38:55I, I, I have to learn something new.
- 38:57I have to learn, I have to learn something new once a week.
- 39:01And it's something if, if I don't, I feel like it's passing
- 39:06me by, especially Canva right now, Canva canvas they've got.
- 39:11Some new things coming out, There's a.
- 39:13There's a lot of new things. Like literally in front of my
- 39:16students yesterday, we imported a picture and then the the
- 39:21elements and the colors of everything in the picture were
- 39:26above, above the editing bar. And I was like, oh, what's this?
- 39:33What's this now change like the color of the T-shirts of
- 39:37somebody in in the picture? Oh wow.
- 39:41And there's like a like a picture, like a face softening
- 39:45and editing pictures. They're kicking Adobe Adobe's
- 39:49ass. They really are.
- 39:51They're they're kicking butt. Period.
- 39:52Yeah, they are. And, and it's the thing I do
- 39:56like about Canvas is they're constantly investing on, you
- 39:59know. Next best, next best, next best
- 40:02and and and setting that standard and keeping the pace.
- 40:06But there was so much happening that I was like, I got to go
- 40:10deep dive this weekend. And talking about surprise and
- 40:13deep dive, you have a new segment for.
- 40:15Us I. Do it is the Miss Vicki segment.
- 40:18You be blue, you feel sad. There is a scene where a woman
- 40:24killed her husband because he stepped on the floor while she
- 40:27was mopping. Has the woman already been
- 40:28arrested? Not yet.
- 40:30We're waiting for the floor to dry.
- 40:31We are here at the scene where a woman killed her husband because
- 40:34he stepped on the floor. This Vicky Police.
- 40:40The police. They're police.
- 40:41You wouldn't kill somebody for stepping on the floor, would
- 40:44you? No, I wouldn't.
- 40:45Yeah, I see. I would not kill you for that.
- 40:48What? That's AI that Oh yeah, that's
- 40:56definitely AI. Okay, Miss Ricky, have you been
- 40:59on TikTok? Have you seen the new like
- 41:02Sasquatch vlogs? Bigfoot vlogs.
- 41:06Yeah, Oh my gosh, I've cringe watch that.
- 41:08You know, isn't, isn't that, what do you call it, cringe
- 41:11watching or binge watching? Binge watching.
- 41:15The AI Sasquatch just like running around the woods
- 41:18vlogging his life. But it's all it's all made the
- 41:21video. And the.
- 41:22Voices are all AI. It's.
- 41:24I love those little video. And then we got some where how
- 41:29it would be if Lincoln had an iPhone.
- 41:32Yo, what's up is rizzy, you know, Lincoln here, I've just
- 41:38delivered the Guinea bag and I'm like, God, oh, you know, the
- 41:42kind of stuff. It's like, it's really funny
- 41:46that yeah, we're going to have to show you after the show.
- 41:48What? About when your kids were little
- 41:50and you were mopping. I mean, did, did they have that
- 41:54fear or are you just smart? Like, Nah, do it when they're
- 41:56not here, man. Oh.
- 41:58No, you know, I, I never, you know what, as a matter of fact,
- 42:05when I was a teenager, my stepfather, he timed it every I
- 42:13had to mop and wax 7 rooms, hardwood floor.
- 42:17Every every Saturday this man will come in with snow boots or
- 42:23whatever and he would do it. He will he walk all of I said
- 42:27lunch, don't you see? Me.
- 42:30Doing this, you know, because I couldn't go out unless I did it
- 42:37him. I want to kill.
- 42:40I literally wanted to kill him every every Saturday.
- 42:43I didn't know how he how he was going to do it.
- 42:46But he's going to find a way. If if not the floors, something
- 42:50you know him I want to kill. Yeah.
- 42:53My, my kids would back it up, beep it, you know, if they were
- 42:57like, they saw me mopping or, or Swiffer and they'd be like,
- 43:03that's right. That's that's what was so funny
- 43:07about that officer, right? Yeah, they made it fun.
- 43:11They tried to make make it fun. This man would just destroy what
- 43:15I was. Doing.
- 43:17We got dogs, so we got the little puppy just runs all over
- 43:21the. Floors.
- 43:21Yeah. What is that with dogs?
- 43:23You get you're you're sitting there trying to move the carpet
- 43:26and it's like the dogs are like, hey, let's go for a ride.
- 43:30You know they want to stand. Yeah, every single time.
- 43:33It it never fails. Walk through the piles and
- 43:36you're sweeping or by. My puppy is afraid of the broom
- 43:39so he just follows my mom around when she's broom and stuff or
- 43:42follows you around when you have a broom.
- 43:45He's just. He's just afraid of random
- 43:47objects. I loved that video so much.
- 43:52Is your dog afraid of the vacuum?
- 43:54Well, we we Seems like all dogs are afraid of vacuum.
- 43:58We got a lot of hardwood and tile, so we we really kind of
- 44:02mainly just sweep them up. Well, that's the Miss Vicki
- 44:08segment. The one thing I do want to say
- 44:11is if you, if you out there any of our listeners find something
- 44:15fun that Miss Vicki can talk about.
- 44:19I was trying to look for like a bad child.
- 44:22Yeah, just to hear what what Miss Vicki would say.
- 44:25But send it to the Morning Wood show on Facebook.
- 44:29Please, please, please, if you find something out there or our
- 44:32our fellow listeners, help us out with the segment.
- 44:35See what you think, but what are we at?
- 44:38We got another segment. Yeah, you know, if if you guys
- 44:42want to, we can hit the drop of the mic.
- 44:44It's it's the drop in the mic. It's some facts.
- 44:49You're not going to like it. So here you go drop in the mic.
- 44:54Don't worry, don't worry. I'm.
- 45:00Not going to do what you all think I'm going to do.
- 45:02We just. So the No tax on Overtime bill
- 45:12has been introduced in the Senate, and you can read it for
- 45:17yourself. Let's cover it real quick to see
- 45:19how you could be impacted. I'm going to tell you right now,
- 45:23a lot of you are going to be happy, and a lot of you are not.
- 45:27Yeah. First of all, they are still
- 45:29going to withhold all of the taxes from your paycheck every
- 45:32week or two weeks, depending on how you get paid.
- 45:35You're still getting taxes withheld.
- 45:38They are going to offer you a tax deduction at the end of the
- 45:42year when you file your taxes. So for all of you people that
- 45:45thought your paychecks were going to get bigger, that's not
- 45:49a thing. In addition to that, if any
- 45:53overtime you work exceeds 20% of your overall income, none of
- 45:59that overtime gets the tax deduction.
- 46:02So you get taxed fully on that overtime.
- 46:04There shall be allowed as a deduction and amount equal to so
- 46:07much of any overtime compensation received by an
- 46:10individual as does not exceed 20%.
- 46:13Who does this impact? So in other words, everybody's
- 46:21all excited for all these new changes, and then when you take
- 46:25the icing off the cake, you find out that it's shit.
- 46:28Oh, I mean, I, I, I remember waitressing and I was a horrible
- 46:33waitress. I'm saying that because I mean
- 46:35it, Bart, I was a good bartender.
- 46:38You were like right there. I didn't have to go anywhere and
- 46:41forget what you wanted. But I, I'm, I'm a pretty honest
- 46:47person. So when it came to cash tips, I
- 46:49think I would kind of generalize, but I would never,
- 46:53I'm afraid to say this anyway. They, you know, show this
- 46:56recording in a courtroom and be like, see, this is, yeah, OK, so
- 46:59how much did you make? I'll be like, uh oh.
- 47:03And, and when you're, when you're in that situation, it's,
- 47:06it is, it's, it's generalizing. Have you, what about you, Kate
- 47:09Mann? Have you ever done any like
- 47:12slide of 20 that you haven't? Like given one out personally
- 47:19like a tip or get? Or get gotten a tip and then not
- 47:22recorded it. Well I guess like AutoZone, like
- 47:28change people's batteries and headlights and stuff, but if
- 47:31they give you like 5 bucks I'm just going to put them in my
- 47:34pocket real quick. They didn't ever give us that
- 47:36much. Or like one time my manager
- 47:39changed the guy's battery out. It was a super busy day.
- 47:43The guy gave him a whole case of beer as a tip.
- 47:50I mean, small stuff like that. I don't think that's I don't
- 47:52think that's wrong. The thing that scares me, he.
- 47:56Has a hairdresser I got tips too.
- 47:58The the thing that scares me is like tips or anything paid, I
- 48:06always get scared like at the end of the year, like how much
- 48:09was I supposed to save for taxes?
- 48:12You know, I'm always worried about the calculation because I
- 48:15don't think anybody in their right mind is trying to, you
- 48:19know, screw the government. That shit happens.
- 48:23You give your taxes to somebody, something doesn't get done and
- 48:28then you kind of up Creek. That's one of the reasons why
- 48:32tax scare me so much. Well-being being a hairdresser,
- 48:35we got taxed on the card or we would get tips and then a
- 48:39percentage of the tips that were on our we would lose 2% if we
- 48:45were taxed on or tipped on the card.
- 48:49But the one of the craziest tips I ever got was a dog was a dog
- 48:56was a puppy. So I, I was in New York and had,
- 49:01had lost, had, had lost a dog And I, I had a client that, you
- 49:06know, I, I, I don't know why she thought I, you know, was, was,
- 49:11was ready for your puppy. But I, I, my, my boss called me
- 49:16and she was like, you have to come.
- 49:17You have to come back to the salon because I had left.
- 49:20I had left for the day. And I said, why?
- 49:23She said, Oh, you, you got a tip, but you have to come get
- 49:27it. And I was like, you know, just
- 49:29just leave it there for me. I'll, you know, I'll, I'll be
- 49:31back in a couple days. It's you know, and she said, no,
- 49:34you got to come get it. And when I showed up, there was
- 49:37this little black chocolate lab and I was like, Oh my God, what
- 49:44do I do? Thank God I had some friends.
- 49:47I I was, I was living with a a house full of dudes at the time.
- 49:52It was actually that was one of my one of my favorite chapters.
- 49:55Because, yeah, because you had a backup.
- 49:57Guys are chill like guys are chill.
- 49:58Like, you know, when I'm not high, you mean, Oh my God, the
- 50:02drama, right? Just so chill, so chill, matter
- 50:05of fact. And so we all had this dog.
- 50:08We had a dog. We had them for a little while,
- 50:10but then I ended up moving out here.
- 50:12But it was that was the craziest tip I ever got.
- 50:15So I wasn't able to, you know, claim that percentage.
- 50:21That was you born and raised. No, you wasn't born and raised
- 50:24here. You.
- 50:25Was raised. I was raised in upstate New
- 50:26York, but I was born in Boulder, Co.
- 50:29OK. All right.
- 50:30And you was born and raised here?
- 50:34No. OK.
- 50:35Chicago. Chicago.
- 50:37OK. Now, I wasn't born and raised
- 50:39here. I was born and raised in
- 50:41Indiana. OK.
- 50:42So you've been here approximately 10:10 or so years.
- 50:47Way more. Way more than that, right?
- 50:48Since 2021, Yep. Do you miss?
- 50:52Do you miss New York? Is there cons and pros?
- 50:57I, I miss the people in the matter of fact, because I, I, I
- 51:02think that I, I still have an, an element of that that hasn't
- 51:06quite softened that I appreciate.
- 51:09I don't miss the weather. OK.
- 51:12So weather, the weather don't miss the people like people you
- 51:17tend to miss. Yeah.
- 51:18Do you think that it's been harder to live here in Colorado
- 51:24compared this 10 years compared to like last 10 years?
- 51:29I think this yes. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:33So what? What?
- 51:33What do you find as a struggle? My rent has been increasing
- 51:39quite a bit. Here isn't that crazy, Like I
- 51:41have a house payment and you know, I just don't understand.
- 51:46The bank tells me, OK, you're going to pay this much every
- 51:50month, OK. And the next thing I know, my
- 51:53escrow somehow grows and I have to repay that.
- 51:56It's like, what the hell is escrow?
- 51:58And you're you know, you think that you're solving a problem by
- 52:04doing rent, you know, by by buying a house.
- 52:07The hell if it's not escrow or HOA.
- 52:12I mean, it's hard to live in a house on a fixed budget.
- 52:16What do you think, Miss Vicki? I think people should get
- 52:22together and buy houses and live in them until we we should live
- 52:29together until you can afford a house and save money.
- 52:33Because that's the climate. Yeah, it always has been.
- 52:38But nobody told me. Told us it was going to
- 52:42escalate. Yeah.
- 52:44If if we had known it was going to escalate, it would be be
- 52:47different. You could plan otherwise.
- 52:51I don't know anybody that that that's been able to plan.
- 52:54No, no, it it, it definitely. And I was surprised because my
- 53:00my rent when I first started renting, I was like, this is
- 53:03awesome, this is awesome. It's not too bad.
- 53:05And then like literally just sneak attack every year like 100
- 53:11and 5000 and 75 more dollars. And I'm like that's.
- 53:14A big deal, it's a big deal. It's a big deal.
- 53:17And, and then I, I love that they're, they're kind of like in
- 53:23it's, it's the what garbage or I, I think my pest, my pest went
- 53:28up, my pest control stuff went up.
- 53:30I'm like, what wasn't it my, my electricity?
- 53:35I'm like, wait, I pay for my electricity and I'm paying for
- 53:37electricity here. What's up?
- 53:39So it's, it's something you got to babysit and manage as you
- 53:43know, but it's not, and I hear you.
- 53:46If, if people were more tolerable, yeah, tolerable.
- 53:53I I, I I could see COM like compound living like I would be
- 53:57cool with that, you know? Yeah, otherwise you're going to
- 54:00be homeless. True, right?
- 54:02Somebody's going to be homeless because who can live with that
- 54:05person? Right.
- 54:07You talk about. All the time.
- 54:09Who could live with this person? That guy snores.
- 54:11Yeah, or otherwise he. Shakes the door.
- 54:16No, I, I, you know, I just, I, I've, I've noticed it's been a
- 54:20real struggle here in, in, in Colorado, you know, and like,
- 54:25you know, and there's, there's more there.
- 54:28This is what I find funny. There's more get rich quick
- 54:33books and how to get rich books rather than you know what, how
- 54:39to make it on low income, you know, tricks and tips, little
- 54:43suggestions and stuff like that. Because I guarantee you we'll
- 54:46use those tricks and tips a lot faster than we will.
- 54:50OK, This is how you build income.
- 54:52This is how you build credit or, you know, this is how you get,
- 54:56you know, rich, you know, because I'm telling you if
- 54:59they're putting content out on Instagram talking about, hey, I
- 55:05can make you rich, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 55:07Look, there's a reason why they got that content there.
- 55:11That's how they're going to make you rich.
- 55:13They're going to, they're going to use your money to make them
- 55:17rich, you know. So, yeah, it's, it is a, it is
- 55:21definitely a struggle, but we're gonna, we we're coming up on our
- 55:27next break. But before we go to the next
- 55:29break. I didn't know.
- 55:31Did you want to read any of the like the new stuff before we get
- 55:34into the interview? We, we were gonna talk about
- 55:36weather this week. Yeah.
- 55:38Because it's gonna be, it's gonna be sizzling.
- 55:40It's gonna be sizzling. It is.
- 55:43It's gonna be like 100°. So if you're not up, yeah, it's
- 55:47I'm, I'm trying to get back to that.
- 55:48The good the the good, the good juice, right?
- 55:51There we go. So it's it's going to be.
- 55:54Yeah. That's that's that's a question
- 55:56one. O 1 today.
- 55:57Yeah, Content, yeah. One O 1 today, one O 1 tomorrow
- 56:00and then it's it's going to it looks like it's going to cool
- 56:04off on on on Sunday, but you know, for for those of you in
- 56:10Denver and you want to do something.
- 56:14Fun. And indoors.
- 56:16That's not going to break the bank.
- 56:18There's the Muse, the Museum of Illusions on 16th St.
- 56:22Mall. It's an interactive light
- 56:25bending fun. Tickets are about 25 to 30 a
- 56:29person and I and I guess I don't know if that's adult to children
- 56:33so. I I I would say I'm either that
- 56:37or it's like 2025 for single, 30 for a couple.
- 56:42Then there's the Denver Art Museum.
- 56:44They have an in state weekday tickets for $22.00 for weekend
- 56:51passes are. 25 they do have a veteran discount there because
- 56:56I've I've gone with a with a buddy there and the Denver Art
- 56:58Museum is no joke. You're you're going to be in
- 57:01there like about 3 hours if if you can rock every level.
- 57:06And that came out this week too. Dan Krunkie bought Elitch
- 57:10Gardens, so Elitch Gardens is now under Meow.
- 57:14Wall Yeah, everything in that little complex area.
- 57:17And then you got the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
- 57:20Yeah, and if you have a VA card, you're free on that one as well.
- 57:25Nice. And if not, you're looking at 20
- 57:27to $23 if you're going to include an IMAX upgrade.
- 57:34I got to see a movie out of the Denver museum and it was called
- 57:41Beaver, Beaver and. Their.
- 57:45Their their their little slogan to the movie was Beaver, the
- 57:49best damn movie you'll ever see almost dying.
- 57:51And then you've got the children's museum.
- 57:54If you got little ones, adults, it looks like adult and kids to
- 58:01the. Two to yeah, 2 to the senior
- 58:06citizen discount. For 1875, little 1/16/75 under
- 58:13one are free. And then of course, you have the
- 58:17Butterfly Pavilion, which it's about $1520 depending on age.
- 58:23Great for families. We're we're going to go off to
- 58:27our next music break. And when we come back, we will
- 58:29be having Debbie Quackenbush from American Family
- 58:33Organization, their tagline. Zach, got your six.
- 58:37We're going to find out what they're doing for veterans and
- 58:39what they continuing doing for veterans on the station.
- 58:42That's giving our veterans voices be heard.
- 58:46You're listening to MBR right here on the morning wood show,
- 1:07:06Military broadcast radio, the station that's giving veterans a
- 1:07:10voice. Find us on the web at MB Radio
- 1:07:13dot. Opinions expressed in this
- 1:07:16program are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 1:07:21reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 1:07:26Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:07:28It is that time. It is the interview of the week.
- 1:07:33The interview of the week is brought to you by Jersey Mike's
- 1:07:38A Sum above. Holly, we have somebody on the
- 1:07:44phone, you know, I'm going to try to give her an intro and
- 1:07:49it's it's not going to do it justice.
- 1:07:51But we have a woman that is on the phone that has been helping
- 1:07:55military families, coordinating, supporting and also helping
- 1:08:02veteran suicides as well with an organization called American
- 1:08:06Family Organization. And her name that just has to be
- 1:08:10has just her name just happens to be Debbie Quackenbush.
- 1:08:16She when I see her next, I got, I got to give her a duck.
- 1:08:20You know, duck Quackenbush, you got to have it.
- 1:08:23You know, Debbie, thank you for being on with us.
- 1:08:29I appreciate it, Joel. It's Mcelhaney now.
- 1:08:31So I went from Quackenbush to Mcelhaney.
- 1:08:33OK, good. Morning you're.
- 1:08:36Still getting a duck? Yeah, you're still getting a
- 1:08:38duck. It's all good.
- 1:08:41So we know that you have an event July 12th.
- 1:08:44We know there's an event July 19th.
- 1:08:47I don't know which one you want to talk about first, but you
- 1:08:50know, tell us. Tell us what inspired you to to
- 1:08:57keep keep this legacy going this nonprofit running.
- 1:09:01You know what, it's been 20 years and it's evolved and it's
- 1:09:06evolved into a, a full mission of prevention of veteran and 1st
- 1:09:09responder suicide. And so I love what we do.
- 1:09:13And at the end of the day, it's it's bigger now than it's been
- 1:09:16in the entire 20 years that we've been here.
- 1:09:20I like your tagline. I got your 6.
- 1:09:23I can just hear you saying that to somebody who really needs to
- 1:09:26hear it, you know? You know, they identify with it.
- 1:09:30They identify with it and you know, it's serious business.
- 1:09:34We do intrusive interventions throughout the country.
- 1:09:38We bring in the most volatile, struggling veterans, first
- 1:09:41responders who have been lost in their ways since service to
- 1:09:45country. And we go to them.
- 1:09:48We take good care of them over a weekend.
- 1:09:50Often times we'll take them out to a clay shoot when we are
- 1:09:53doing a fundraiser. The objective is to earn their
- 1:09:57trust, earn their respect, basically break them and then
- 1:10:01get them to the best resources in the country.
- 1:10:03And so that's grown in a in a exponential way and we're
- 1:10:08getting to have a lot of success.
- 1:10:10We've had a few failures recently, actually lost one of
- 1:10:14our own, our own guys about 3 weeks ago.
- 1:10:17He just said I can't do it anymore.
- 1:10:20So we do everything we can to save them.
- 1:10:22And it's not a kinder or friendlier mission, I guess, but
- 1:10:26it's one that is incredibly fulfilling, rewarding.
- 1:10:30And at the end of the day, you know, I'm very proud to say
- 1:10:32we've been able to save a lot of them and take them to a new
- 1:10:35normal. You know, it's, it's funny that
- 1:10:38you're bringing it up because on the website it, you know, it, it
- 1:10:41says since March 2017, you, you mentioned saving over 105 highly
- 1:10:49suicidal veterans. What metrics or follow up
- 1:10:52processes? I mean, how do you guys come up
- 1:10:57with this number? Can you shed the light on that
- 1:11:00for us? Well, you know, once, once they
- 1:11:04make contact with us, we track them for the next couple of
- 1:11:07years and I even hear from them 5, five years later.
- 1:11:11Our objective is to bring them into our own fold, which is to
- 1:11:14give them a purpose again, and we encourage them to join our
- 1:11:18Quick Reaction Force team. Ideally, we'd love to have QRF
- 1:11:24team set up throughout the country so that when you get a
- 1:11:27call about a missing, struggling, suicidal veteran,
- 1:11:30you hear from the family, help us find them, and they apply
- 1:11:33their skills to help locate that veteran and then put them
- 1:11:37through our program. Now AMF is nationally known and
- 1:11:44is helping, helping veterans nationally, right?
- 1:11:47It's not, it's not just a region, that thing anymore.
- 1:11:51Oh, no, no, you know, we go to them.
- 1:11:53It doesn't matter. You know the objective is to get
- 1:11:55to them, earn their trust and respect no matter where they're
- 1:11:58located. Yeah, I mean, I, I can imagine
- 1:12:02when you're in that vulnerable state, the last thing you want
- 1:12:04to do is be, you know, babied. You know it.
- 1:12:10Takes a tough. Person to to bring It takes a
- 1:12:13tough and loyal person like yourself to like bring bring
- 1:12:18somebody at that level so I admire what you're doing I.
- 1:12:21Appreciate that, you know it. We, we let the guys do it.
- 1:12:24I mean, when the call comes in and by the grace of God, over
- 1:12:28the last year and a half now we've only had a few that we had
- 1:12:31to go actually track. But we've got a long laundry
- 1:12:34list, if you will, of veterans who are struggling.
- 1:12:37And so we contact them, they contact us, we let them know
- 1:12:42when we're going to put an intrusive intervention together.
- 1:12:45And then that objective is to get them there and get them to
- 1:12:49let us earn their trust so that we can actually get them into
- 1:12:52the programs throughout the country that best address what
- 1:12:56we think are the seven triggers of veteran and 1st responder
- 1:12:59suicide. Can you explain intrusive
- 1:13:03intervention a little more to our listeners?
- 1:13:06Yeah, they're not kinder and they're not friendlier.
- 1:13:08The objective is to come in. The fact that they even showed
- 1:13:13up is a big breakthrough, A gigantic breakthrough that says
- 1:13:17they're ready to receive help. But the objective is in that
- 1:13:21room there's always somebody better off than you and somebody
- 1:13:24worse off than you. And when you can open up and
- 1:13:27relate, they don't have to talk, they don't have to do anything
- 1:13:30but listen. And we've got them captive for
- 1:13:33at least two days for an intrusive intervention.
- 1:13:36But during that time, we're also taking very good care of them.
- 1:13:39We're listening intensely to them, we're sharing resources,
- 1:13:44we're sharing ideas, we're sharing programs and earning
- 1:13:47their trust. So the first day they get there,
- 1:13:50it's just a get acquainted kind of moment.
- 1:13:53Get them to feel comfortable. We go to very nice places.
- 1:13:56We take them to the beach, we take them to the mountains, we
- 1:14:00take them to quiet grounds where they feel safe and, and bond
- 1:14:04together. And there's again, somebody in
- 1:14:07that room that they relate to and somebody who's already been
- 1:14:10through the intervention and has taken the all the precautions,
- 1:14:14do exactly what we're asking him to do, which is to get to those
- 1:14:17best resources for treatment of traumatic brain injury, for drug
- 1:14:21and alcohol addiction. You've got to get a clean mind.
- 1:14:24And ideally, when we get to these intrusive interventions,
- 1:14:28they're ready to receive the message.
- 1:14:30And if they're not, our objective is to break them.
- 1:14:33If you're not serious about getting healthy and you want to,
- 1:14:37you know, go to Club Med, that's not what we do.
- 1:14:40Our objective is to get the hardcore guys and gals who have
- 1:14:44been traumatized to have been through hell and back and get
- 1:14:47them to earn the respect of our charity and understand that our
- 1:14:51objective is to follow them through.
- 1:14:53We escort them to these resources.
- 1:14:55We don't just say go ahead and make this phone call.
- 1:14:58So it's a, it's a comprehensive program that spans over a period
- 1:15:02of a couple of years and and thereafter the objective is to
- 1:15:07get them to the intervention and get them to listen.
- 1:15:10And so far over the last years, we haven't had trouble with
- 1:15:13getting their attention. Now, Debbie, I mean, you've
- 1:15:16worked together for a very long time, so I I already know the
- 1:15:22answer to these, but the listeners don't.
- 1:15:24And that's, that's what I'm trying to do, is trying to
- 1:15:27explain and describe to them what your foundation is all
- 1:15:31about. Can you tell us?
- 1:15:34I appreciate it. Yeah.
- 1:15:35Can you tell us, you know, how do you collaborate with Colorado
- 1:15:42supports the troops, the plate program, Like what percentage of
- 1:15:47those funds directly support your work?
- 1:15:51I would tell you I I was the one that walked that legislation
- 1:15:55through in 2007 and since that time we have an actual contract
- 1:16:01and a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Military
- 1:16:04and Veterans Affairs. That money requires a $25
- 1:16:09donation for anybody who purchases that Colorado supports
- 1:16:12the troops license plate. By the state statute that we
- 1:16:16authored, 93% of every dollar has gone directly back to the
- 1:16:21Colorado military and their families.
- 1:16:24To date, that bill has raised over $500,000 with 93% going
- 1:16:29directly back to them. That 7% goes to our charity, but
- 1:16:34that pays for the documentation, the labor, the taking the
- 1:16:38orders, the answering, the tech support and getting them through
- 1:16:42that process with a DMV so that they can obtain that plate and
- 1:16:47wear it proudly. So beyond an individual donors
- 1:16:54and in the the license plates, what where what is your major
- 1:16:57funding sources? Yeah.
- 1:17:00Well, you know, you get established.
- 1:17:01Over the years, we've been very blessed by companies like the
- 1:17:06Mortensen Construction Company. They've been an incredible
- 1:17:09friend and ally to us, and they're located nationally.
- 1:17:13So they do a clay shoot for us. For example, we just got back in
- 1:17:18less than two weeks ago. We were in Salt Lake City, UT,
- 1:17:21and the Mortensen Construction Salt Lake City operation put on
- 1:17:26a clay shoot. We hosted our intrusive
- 1:17:29intervention three days before the clay shoot and then let him
- 1:17:33go out and shoot and calm down after the intervention.
- 1:17:36And I'm proud to tell you that that recent fundraiser raised
- 1:17:40$102,000 going back for our program.
- 1:17:44And now we have Colorado. Colorado Mortensen Construction
- 1:17:48has been very gracious to us and we are expanding because I think
- 1:17:52they understand our mission, our loyalty, and we bring those
- 1:17:56veterans. I mean, I could show you
- 1:17:58pictures from 2 weeks ago where we had a lot of them there and
- 1:18:03they enjoyed the clay shoot as well as getting through the
- 1:18:07intervention. So it's a a great, it's a great
- 1:18:11way to win what we're doing and funding it in the meantime.
- 1:18:14You're being noticed. So, yeah, besides us, how do you
- 1:18:18raise public awareness and but besides your your events, is
- 1:18:22there another way that you're? You know, just what anybody else
- 1:18:27would be doing. I'll be honest with you.
- 1:18:30I'm not a fan of asking for money as the founder CEO of this
- 1:18:34charity, that should be my job all the time.
- 1:18:36But my heart, my passion is with these veterans and 1st
- 1:18:39responders. And so there's no call that goes
- 1:18:42untold where that where I'm not on that call or where our team
- 1:18:45is not dealing collectively to help that veteran or first
- 1:18:48responder in need. But raising the money, I'm not
- 1:18:50good at it. I'll be candid.
- 1:18:52I hate asking for money, but it's necessary and we do host
- 1:18:56it. We are having our 20th
- 1:18:57anniversary the weekend of July 11 and 12.
- 1:19:01There will be a golf tournament on the 11th.
- 1:19:05There will be a car show the morning of Saturday the 12th and
- 1:19:09then what we call the Country Casual Gala Saturday night at
- 1:19:13the Douglas County Fairgrounds. I invite people to come.
- 1:19:17I invite them and the dinner is 50 bucks.
- 1:19:20It's a walk in. The All American Beef Battalion
- 1:19:22will be serving a A1 inch rib eye steak dinner.
- 1:19:25They've served over 475,000 veterans during post and pre
- 1:19:29deployments, welcome homes. They're in incredible operation.
- 1:19:33They help us, we help them. I've worked with them for years
- 1:19:37and they've done incredible things.
- 1:19:40And so you work together with like minded people and at the
- 1:19:43end of the day we're hosting that three day event.
- 1:19:46I don't enjoy putting things like that back together, but
- 1:19:48it's necessary and I'm encouraging people that will

- 1:20:08phenomenal. Brian Talley, incredible man who
- 1:20:11almost lost his life at an unfortunate incident through the
- 1:20:14VA not doing a very good job of taking care of.
- 1:20:18Him and so John Tig Tigen, you know, from Benghazi, come join
- 1:20:22America's heroes and help us raise money so we can continue
- 1:20:26to grow our program. And that's how we do it.
- 1:20:29I think you got to give yourself some serious credit because you
- 1:20:32sold me and, and you, you, you can hear the passion and the
- 1:20:38conviction in your voice. And I, I, I think you, you just
- 1:20:42sold it. Well, come support your heroes.
- 1:20:45I appreciate that. It's an audience full of It's an
- 1:20:48audience full of American heroes.
- 1:20:50My whole team will be there. The veterans are coming to it.
- 1:20:52They're the guys that support it.
- 1:20:54Now Debbie, help some veterans out with how how am I eligible
- 1:21:03for this? I'll tell you what, it requires
- 1:21:07a DD214 and a cost to us. Tell us who you are.
- 1:21:12Have you had less than an honorable?
- 1:21:14What's your problem? What's going on with you?
- 1:21:16We don't isolate. You know, you do have to be a
- 1:21:18veteran. You did have to serve at a first
- 1:21:21responder, same thing. But we want to hear your story.
- 1:21:24We want to hear what happened to you and we want to be able to
- 1:21:26help you. But you got to want that.
- 1:21:28You can't. You can't come in and say give
- 1:21:30me money. We don't do money.
- 1:21:31All right, there are a lot of charities out there, and I'll
- 1:21:34refer for you. We refer you to any of those
- 1:21:36charities that will help with financial assistance.
- 1:21:38But one of those 7 triggers is financial traumas, and that's
- 1:21:43when they panic. But a lot of people also take
- 1:21:46advantage of that where our money is valuable and very
- 1:21:50carefully spent. And so when you ask me to come
- 1:21:53and pay your bills, I'll refer you to those agencies that can
- 1:21:56help you with that. But we're here for the rest of
- 1:21:58the story, including your financial assistance.
- 1:22:01If, however, you agree to deal with your traumatic brain
- 1:22:04injuries, your post traumatic stress disorder, you're fighting
- 1:22:07the VA and not getting all your benefits, Fight Harder will help
- 1:22:10you do that. It's it's a big deal.
- 1:22:17It is a big deal. Miss Vicky, do you have any
- 1:22:21questions? I'd like to Do I have any
- 1:22:24questions? No, no, no, Miss Vicky.
- 1:22:28She's over here just listening. I would like the the address to
- 1:22:32the dinner. There we go.
- 1:22:36There we go. Well, military broadcast radio
- 1:22:40will be on site at the Douglas Fair County Fairground during
- 1:22:45the, you know, car show. So, you know, we'll be, I'm, I'm
- 1:22:50sure we'll, we'll see Devin talk to her, you know, once again,
- 1:22:54once we're on site. But yeah.
- 1:23:00Welcome, Matt. Joel, thank you.
- 1:23:02And, you know, offer you guys a ticket to the event.
- 1:23:05Come join us. I think you'll love it.
- 1:23:06And it'll be a crowd of some of the best American heroes you
- 1:23:10could ever hope to be around. So you're you're invited to be
- 1:23:14my guest. I appreciate the opportunity to
- 1:23:16visit with you guys today. And thank you for coming out to
- 1:23:19the show, the car show. And I invite you to stay and
- 1:23:22come back to the gala. It is country casual and I think
- 1:23:26it's going to be a great night. Encourage you to join us.
- 1:23:29Fabulous. Debbie, hold on.
- 1:23:30We have one more question for you.
- 1:23:33It is what we like to call your time to shine.
- 1:23:39Today's Time to Shine is brought to you by Dunkin' Donuts
- 1:23:45veterans and 1st responders runs on Dunkin this.
- 1:23:53Is your. Time to shine.
- 1:23:55Believe me, it is your time to shine, Debbie.
- 1:23:58We might not have asked you that that that question that you
- 1:24:02really want to get off your chest or set you up for the
- 1:24:04answer. This is that 2 minute platform
- 1:24:09where you know if you want to do shout outs, if you want to talk
- 1:24:13about something that we didn't cover, this is your time to do
- 1:24:17so. Appreciate that.
- 1:24:20You know, at the end of the day, you know, we do deal with the
- 1:24:24the most damaged end results of people who have chosen to serve
- 1:24:30their country. I don't think people really
- 1:24:32realize what kind of sacrifice that truly is.
- 1:24:36You have less than 1/2 of 1% of the country who serves and to
- 1:24:41the other 99 1/2% of the country that have that privilege, those
- 1:24:46are the people that need to give the money to charities like
- 1:24:49ours. Those are the people that need
- 1:24:50to understand the traumas and the the ramifications of service
- 1:24:55to country. And that goes all the way down
- 1:24:57to all the family, from the parents to the grandparents, to
- 1:25:00the cousins, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers.
- 1:25:03I can guarantee you I I had a brother, I still do.
- 1:25:07And it was about Vietnam at the time.
- 1:25:11You know, when you come back and you disgrace the very people who
- 1:25:14are serving this country, you ought to stand up and understand
- 1:25:17what they sacrifice to be here. And they protect and defend all
- 1:25:21of us. And I think it's an incredible
- 1:25:23honor to be able to work with them and support them.
- 1:25:26And I encourage anybody who listens to this broadcast and
- 1:25:29podcast to take heed. Come help us.
- 1:25:32Come join us and spend the night on Saturday, July 12th at the
- 1:25:36Douglas County Fairgrounds. Get to American Military Family,
- 1:25:39buy your tickets, donate a ticket, because it's going to
- 1:25:43help all of them. And Joel Vicky, thank you so
- 1:25:47much for this opportunity. I do appreciate it.
- 1:25:49Yeah. No worries, no worries.
- 1:25:52It was good talking to you, Debbie.
- 1:25:54Please be careful and take care until I see you.
- 1:25:59God bless and I'll, I'll see you on the I'll see you on the 12th.
- 1:26:05I love it. God bless you guys and thanks a
- 1:26:06million. Appreciate you very much.
- 1:26:08God bless what you do Bye. Bye.
- 1:26:11All right, ladies and gentlemen, once again, if you didn't know,
- 1:26:13that was Debbie. She is in charge of American
- 1:26:18Family Organization, bringing veterans together to support one
- 1:26:26thing that we have in common, you know, transitioning back
- 1:26:30from war to home. That's that's that's what we
- 1:26:34have in common. All right, we're going to go on
- 1:26:36our next music break. Actually, instead of the music
- 1:26:39break, I'll tell you what we're going to do.
- 1:26:41We're going to go ahead and just go right to the Tribute to
- 1:26:44troops. And then when we come back, I
- 1:26:47think we're going to play word, burp word.
- 1:26:49Blurt We're Burr. You want a.
- 1:26:51Work blurt, Word blurt. We're we're going to do

- 1:27:04That's letting our veterans voices be heard.
- 1:27:06MBR detail attention. First, call.
- 1:27:17The service member's name is called out loud in the context
- 1:27:20of a unit. This is meant to ensure all are
- 1:27:23present and accounted for. Second, call, the name is called
- 1:27:27out again louder to confirm that the service member is indeed
- 1:27:31absent. Third.
- 1:27:32Call. The name is called out for a
- 1:27:35final time, followed by a statement indicating that the
- 1:27:38service member is not present and accounted for, signifying
- 1:27:41their death. The final roll call serves as a
- 1:27:44symbolic gesture to respect and remember their service.
- 1:27:53Sir, I don't. I don't know how to tell the
- 1:27:56story. Well, you got the joke.
- 1:27:59You telling there the people what these men did here.
- 1:28:03You tell them how much Hoopers died.

- 1:36:25is in case we have. Any new listeners so?
- 1:36:28We're going to come up with a random word.
- 1:36:30I am going to come up with a random word and you have to
- 1:36:33either the first thing that pops into your head, right?
- 1:36:38And don't be afraid to say it. You're going to see who is
- 1:36:41afraid to say it here shortly and you're going to see who or
- 1:36:47you can use it in a sentence. So like first, first thing that
- 1:36:51pops into your head like right word blurt, right blurt it,
- 1:36:54blurt it. Don't be afraid.
- 1:36:56And and really this is this this this whole scenario is to get
- 1:37:00you to say something kind of funny.
- 1:37:02So that's why I'm here. So our first.
- 1:37:09Word is fudge. Whack, fudge, whack, fudge,
- 1:37:14whack. Fickle.
- 1:37:20No. That was good, yeah.
- 1:37:22And I have no idea what fickle is.

- 1:37:45To fully. Come to that thought.
- 1:37:48That that's where I'm, that's where I'm at, too.
- 1:37:51Going dark places. Miss Vicki's hiding.
- 1:37:57This is where. We got to get a camera on her.
- 1:37:58She's. Hiding she's.
- 1:38:01Putting her, I know you want to say fudge whack.
- 1:38:04I mean, I, I, I like I said the dark part, it wants to speak,
- 1:38:11but I'm suppressing. Think of it as as something else
- 1:38:16you could say. Instead of.
- 1:38:20All right, Miss Vicky, you ready?
- 1:38:22You're not. Yeah, the beep, you know.
- 1:38:25A A gentle, explicit way to say when things go sideways.

- 1:39:24Dizzy drip for the listeners. Out there, Miss Vicki is
- 1:39:26covering her face. I'm not sure if it's shame yet,
- 1:39:30because she's afraid to say what she really wants to say.
- 1:39:33Go Gomez, Vicki, Go Gomez, Vicki, go.
- 1:39:36I was going to say the the sib. That's like another term for
- 1:39:40going. And taking a swim while you're

- 1:39:45dipping is when you swim naked. It's dizzy dip.

- 1:40:51You relax. Sit on your hands.
- 1:40:55Not sit on the thumb, but sit on your hands.
- 1:40:57There's a difference. I'm thinking of like a food item
- 1:41:01now, like you're like a frozen. Like a frozen dill pickle.
- 1:41:07Like there's some. Places that have.
- 1:41:09Frozen bananas. Oh, that's, that's like beaches
- 1:41:11that's got frozen Pickles, do you think?
- 1:41:14Dill and vanilla would. Go good together.
- 1:41:17She can't. Hear you or chocolate.
- 1:41:19Hey, hey, Chris. Try refreshing.
- 1:41:21Sometimes. Sometimes.
- 1:41:23That helps, he says he. Can't hear us sometimes.
- 1:41:25I'll talk louder. Yeah, you know, I know chocolate
- 1:41:28and orange chocolate. And orange, those are good.
- 1:41:31That's a good flavor. Combo When would?

- 1:41:55it. Sound good?
- 1:41:57That's it. That's a good idea you get
- 1:42:00right? That's a good idea, right?
- 1:42:01Got to start using it now. In the world, yeah.
- 1:42:04So we got what? What were?
- 1:42:05Our words fudge, whack, that's. The first one, yes.
- 1:42:09Something dizzy? Dip.

- 1:42:47That's a new We need one of those buttons like Pee Wee
- 1:42:50Herman, the word of the day. Fudge Wack.
- 1:42:58Man, I miss it. I miss that TV show.
- 1:43:00I don't know. Why?
- 1:43:01But I miss that TV show. I like the intro.
- 1:43:03Yeah. Yeah, the intro was awesome.
- 1:43:06Did you know Cindy? Lapper did the.
- 1:43:08Intro to that I did. Did you know that, Sidney?
- 1:43:12Loughner did like the. Intro of Goonies.
- 1:43:15Really. Yeah.
- 1:43:17In fact, In fact, I'm told there's three sequels coming
- 1:43:23out. Goonies 2.
- 1:43:26I heard about that. Yeah, I heard about that.
- 1:43:29Spaceballs. Two what and.
- 1:43:33Then the Happy Gilmore 2 that's coming out, this like the most
- 1:43:39recent? Yeah, and like the preview of
- 1:43:42it. I don't think it looks very I.
- 1:43:44It looks like just a a regurgitated second plot movie,
- 1:43:50just like Happy Gilmore 1. You know, Miss Vicky, Have you
- 1:43:53seen Spaceballs a long time? Ago space.
- 1:43:59OK. All right, well, at.
- 1:44:00Least you've seen that you. Know I don't remember it, but I
- 1:44:03saw it. Oh yeah, yeah, the hey, I don't
- 1:44:06remember. Deliverance but I.
- 1:44:08Know I saw it, don't. Make me watch that again.
- 1:44:12He runs when he sees a banjo or he sees a banjo and yeah.
- 1:44:16So I I don't think I've met Chris.
- 1:44:19Forbes yet he's he's a friend with you.
- 1:44:21I I became friends with him on Facebook recently.
- 1:44:25I love his posts. They, they, they're very
- 1:44:28motivating. You know, I tell you, if you
- 1:44:31really want a great life, get with three people that have
- 1:44:37motivation going through life that won't let you, that won't
- 1:44:43let you slip into that dark. Well, and you can do a lot of
- 1:44:47shit with three people that will constantly motivate.
- 1:44:51I I came in here this morning like, and then Holly was like,
- 1:44:55come on, get, let's go. So, yeah, you know, that's what
- 1:45:00I say. Sizzle.
- 1:45:01Yeah. Hey, look, it's it's, it's OK to
- 1:45:04be depressed. One day, but after that, one
- 1:45:07day. After that, you, you know, kind
- 1:45:09of quit having to quit acting like a victim.
- 1:45:12You know, you just got to you got to adapt and overcome and
- 1:45:16then, you know, just push the control through.
- 1:45:18So that's that's what I'm doing, you know, happy to be your
- 1:45:23people. Yes, yes, most definitely.
- 1:45:26Forbes here. Because he's he's part of.
- 1:45:28Sensation design. He does embroidery.
- 1:45:32And he is going to soon to be a boom.
- 1:45:36That's what's up, buddy. Sensation, design sensation.
- 1:45:40And and he's super talented. And you, you have a logo and he
- 1:45:44has all the he, he knows what kind of effect and what logos
- 1:45:48are going to do what. So it's, it's, it's not an easy,

- 1:47:26ready to let it out, man, she says some good stuff and it's
- 1:47:30going to happen. It's going to happen.

- 1:54:18Going to go into our final thoughts.
- 1:54:19All right, ladies and gentlemen, it is that time.
- 1:54:22It is a final thoughts. 54433211 we have ignition strapping, it's
- 1:54:32the two-minute warning, minute warning, what we earned today.
- 1:54:34Are you not entertained at Project ML?
- 1:54:45Gratitude. Our mission is simple, to give
- 1:54:48motorcycles. To veterans who need the kind of
- 1:54:50peace and. Freedom that only a.
- 1:54:51Ride can give all right if you don't know about ML gratitude.
- 1:54:57ML Gratitude. Is a nonprofit organization
- 1:55:00that's dedication focused on providing a veteran a free
- 1:55:05motorcycle at least one time every year.
- 1:55:10And so far since 2020, they've given AI Believe 21 motorcycles.
- 1:55:16So that's that's incredible. So I and she just recently won
- 1:55:22the hometown hero award that was provided by I I believe it was
- 1:55:27Fox Fox 31, but I don't really remember what channel.
- 1:55:32But congratulations to Kim on that once again.
- 1:55:37So we'll start with the events. Vicki, what did you learn today?
- 1:55:41Well, let's see what I learned. I learned.
- 1:55:52I learned not to relax. Relax.
- 1:55:57Around how? Because I had no idea.
- 1:56:02You know everything. Happened to that.
- 1:56:05I wasn't wondering anything and I'm.
- 1:56:09Slightly. Embarrassed and really a little
- 1:56:14bit no way embarrassed about. What?
- 1:56:16But not knowing. The answers do anything.
- 1:56:20No, I. Don't know the answers either, I
- 1:56:22was just. Making.
- 1:56:23Up shit. Yeah, we love how real you are.
- 1:56:28That's why we're like, yeah, get back here.
- 1:56:33I'm sorry. I'm embarrassed.
- 1:56:34You miss Mickey. That's OK.
- 1:56:35I'm also. Just guessing over here.
- 1:56:38We've got someone over here that's trying to find the right.
- 1:56:40Answers, yeah, so we appreciate. You for being here.
- 1:56:43Thank you. Isn't it?
- 1:56:45Isn't it amazing like the? The more sturdier you are when
- 1:56:51you talk or just, you know, say it real fast, like with
- 1:56:55conviction, like people are like, how did you know that?
- 1:56:59Like they don't even know, you know?
- 1:57:01Yeah, I, you know, I, I like random.
- 1:57:06Stuff, I really do. It's the surprise of life,
- 1:57:10right? And if it's not, it's, it's,
- 1:57:13it's something that kind of just jolts you out of your like, what
- 1:57:18do you call it? Just your everyday, everyday,
- 1:57:21you know, your, your, your tunnel mode.
- 1:57:23And, and when stuff like that kind of comes up in that,
- 1:57:26especially that word blur, it makes you think.
- 1:57:29So what I, I have a lot of family members that have had
- 1:57:33dementia and all that stuff. So I'm, I'm like acute to like,
- 1:57:37you know, all the stuff that, you know, keep this sucker
- 1:57:40sizzling, right? So I love it.
- 1:57:44I love, I love stuff that makes you think.
- 1:57:46And so there's no wrong answer. There's no wrong answer.
- 1:57:50Oh. That's different.
- 1:57:54That's. Different.
- 1:57:56I'll be ready the next. Time.
- 1:57:57All right. All right.
- 1:57:59Caveman, what did you learn? Today.
- 1:58:03Stand up for what you're doing. Have some some honor.
- 1:58:06Behind it, because Debbie Man had the fire coming here on the
- 1:58:09phone, man, you could. You could hear it in her voice.
- 1:58:14She didn't even need. To be in the studio, you could
- 1:58:15Debbie is the woman. That if she ran through a brick
- 1:58:19wall. Like she looked like she would
- 1:58:23go through the the hole would look pre cut.
- 1:58:25Yeah, yeah. I could see her, Yeah, she's
- 1:58:28always. Been like that, yeah, the
- 1:58:30passion and the power in your voice and your and your
- 1:58:33conviction and. And just the so much I, I have,
- 1:58:38I have just have so much respect for what you do, you know, and,
- 1:58:42and I can tell you it's, it's not every day that you see a, a,
- 1:58:46a human that is truly in there, you know, here, here on the
- 1:58:51planet to do a specific thing. And we got.
- 1:58:54To witness a really cool testimonial today and yeah, that
- 1:58:59just. It's cool, very cool.
- 1:59:02You see a lot of people talk, but you don't see them do the
- 1:59:05walk. That's that's that's what.
- 1:59:07You're getting at, you know, and the, the thing that I learned
- 1:59:12today is man, I'm getting old. Like I, you know, she brought it
- 1:59:17up 20 years, like NBR 20 years. I've only had NBR since 2018.
- 1:59:22But like, you know, like when I took my dog into the vet, you
- 1:59:27know, and we saw the, you know, the, the main vet that, you
- 1:59:31know, Barrett was born with that vet.
- 1:59:35I looked at my wife and I'm like, man, I'm glad I'm not the
- 1:59:38only one getting old. Like he had a perfect frost
- 1:59:41right on his hair. And it's just, it's amazing the,
- 1:59:47the, the stuff that we do today, like nonprofit wise, if we don't
- 1:59:53look at it as a job, it's, it's a job, but we don't look at it
- 1:59:56as a job. So that's, that's what I've,
- 1:59:59that's what I've learned. Once again, everybody if you
- 2:00:02didn't. Realize again, July 12th is a
- 2:00:07car show. Douglas Fairground MBR will be
- 2:00:11on site and it sounds like Holly is going to grace us with her
- 2:00:16presence, maybe do some autographs.
- 2:00:18So with that being said, and can't get Caveman's autograph
- 2:00:22because it's going to be in Mexico.
- 2:00:24I'm going to be in a basketball tournament.
- 2:00:26There we go, I. Got I got all the residents.
- 2:00:30To draw and sign stuff on my on my shoes that I'm wearing so.
- 2:00:34Oh nice, doing a little shout out to all the residents and
- 2:00:38stuff. Nice.
- 2:00:40Well, I think that's that wraps our show.
- 2:00:43Up today and remember, we're going to be here every Friday at
- 2:00:4710 AM Eastern Standard Time. And as we always say, all
- 2:00:53together, we're here for you, not for us.
