- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 27 of Three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:12Week one of the NFL season is officially in the books and so
- 0:16we're going to give some of our thoughts on the the NFL season
- 0:20to start off here. So we're going to give some
- 0:22thoughts from Week 1. We're going to do some over or
- 0:25under reactions from Week 1 and then later on in the show we're
- 0:29going to talk a little bit about some of the teams that we have
- 0:31eliminated as our potential new favorite teams.
- 0:35And Avery also has a game for us today.
- 0:37So got kind of a packed schedule.
- 0:39So to start off, Avery, just give us one thought from week
- 0:42one of the NFL. It could be something good,
- 0:44something bad. Oh.
- 0:45Wait. You go, you go, you go.
- 0:47Just be. Pardon.
- 0:47No, no, no, no, no. Why don't you get it out of the?
- 0:49Way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:51Yeah, yeah. Listen, listen, listen.
- 0:53Linda, it. Had to do with what Joel said,
- 0:55but I'll save it for my thoughts.
- 0:57So, Avery, please. OK.
- 1:01Begrudgingly, yes. I thought the Packers look a lot
- 1:05better than I thought they'd be. And I don't know if it's
- 1:08necessarily Michael Parsons or just just that team just feeling
- 1:13confident they're looking great. I don't think that that is the
- 1:17best that the Lions could do, but I really like that showing
- 1:20and I think the Packers have a lot to look forward to, which
- 1:24pains me a little because I'm not a big fan of the Packers.
- 1:27Same. All right, will give us one
- 1:31thought from week one of the NFL.
- 1:33It is possible looking at the looking at the schedules that
- 1:36the Bills go 16 and O and that the Ravens 17 O he's me and the
- 1:41Ravens go 16 and one. That was two of the absolute and
- 1:46I will come back to this game later on.
- 1:48But that was some of the best football that I've seen in a
- 1:51long time. And my other half thought I was
- 1:53going to say earlier is it was so nice to watch football this
- 1:57entire weekend and not get mad at any point.
- 2:01Never once did I be like, oh, my team.
- 2:04Yes. Oh, come on, you guys.
- 2:05This an unaffiliated NFL fan. Avery, you have been vibing your
- 2:10whole life on this. Now, granted, UNC football maybe
- 2:14tearing her down some. Were you at Oregon for football?
- 2:17And so like, like unaffiliated NFL fan.
- 2:20That might just be where I end up here.
- 2:23I might just be an unaffiliated NFL fan.
- 2:26I would realize Avery's had it right.
- 2:28This whole time we've been trying to get him to pick a
- 2:30team. Why?
- 2:32I was working online and you can just buy NFL shield Rocco stuff.
- 2:37Just a hat that has the NFL shield on it.
- 2:41NFL across it. I considered it strongly anyway.
- 2:46Yeah, I agree, it was very nice to just not care about the
- 2:51result of any game. It's like watching The Hunger
- 2:54Games. Like I just hope the capital is
- 2:56doing well. I hope that you know, all the
- 2:59contestants are trying hard, but I'm really rooting for the
- 3:01capital. Yeah, but hey, you know what?
- 3:05It's entertainment and it's it was entertaining, very
- 3:08entertaining this week. Yeah, it was very entertaining.
- 3:12That Bills game was nuts. That was crazy.
- 3:15Nuts. I, I, I'm at Sunday Night
- 3:18Football, right? Like that was that was the night
- 3:21time game. It was 15 points with four
- 3:24minutes left in the fourth quarter.
- 3:26That was 9 something PM here on the West Coast, which means it's
- 3:3011:00 PM on a work night on the East Coast.
- 3:34There's no way. I mean, are people left the
- 3:36stadium earlier It was in Buffalo.
- 3:38People left the stadium early. Alright, well, I guess we lost
- 3:41this one And then and then you come back in the fashion they
- 3:44did. Just absolutely insane.
- 3:47Must watch. It's very similar, is very
- 3:49similar to the Vikings Bears. Just like strong fourth quarter
- 3:54Bills had a 22 point, fourth quarter Vikings had a 21 point.
- 3:59Jeez. Well, Speaking of Speaking of
- 4:03the Vikings Bears, my thought from week one that I took away
- 4:07is Kevin O'Connell is a fantastic head coach, absolutely
- 4:12fantastic head coach. You have a your, you have your,
- 4:16I guess you could say rookie quarterback in JJ McCarthy, who
- 4:20everybody has been wondering how this guy's going to play.
- 4:23Everybody's been criticizing this guy because he's a hand off
- 4:26specialist Will and. I'll admit it, I'm not.
- 4:33I'm not ready to to move off of that from him anyway.
- 4:38Anyways, you, you got this guy who comes into his first NFL
- 4:43career game and everybody has been criticizing him before he's
- 4:47even played a game. He plays the whole first half
- 4:49and just struggles. And then in the second-half, in
- 4:53the third quarter, he comes in and he throws a pick six for his
- 4:57first NFL touchdown. Everybody's like I told you, JJ
- 5:00McCarthy sucks. He's terrible.
- 5:02And then something flipped the switch for JJ McCarthy.
- 5:06I don't know what Kevin O'Connell said to JJ McCarthy or
- 5:10what he did with JJ McCarthy to flip that switch, but it was 17
- 5:15to 6 and JJ McCarthy throws 2 touchdown passes and gets a
- 5:21rushing touchdown and completely turns that game around for the
- 5:24Vikings. And I just think that Kevin
- 5:28O'Connell is an absolutely fantastic coach, one, because he
- 5:31was able to turn that around for not only his team, but with JJ
- 5:34McCarthy. And the, the second reason why
- 5:38I, I think he's a fantastic coach is because of what
- 5:40happened at the end of that game.
- 5:42So when the Bears cut the lead to three, so they made it 2724,
- 5:48there was 2 minutes and two seconds left on the clock.
- 5:51The Bears decide to kick the ball in bounds and the Vikings
- 5:55receive it. Now, Kevin O'Connell had told
- 5:57his player who was receiving the ball, Look at me when you
- 6:01receive the ball and I'll tell you what to do.
- 6:03So the guy looks over to the sideline and Kevin O'Connell,
- 6:07you can see him saying come out, bring the ball out.
- 6:10So the guy runs out and then with one minute and 55 seconds
- 6:14left, the Vikings have the ball. And guess what?
- 6:17The Bears don't have the two-minute warning to use to
- 6:20stop the clock because he's a fantastic head coach and he knew
- 6:24exactly the strategy to use, just prevent the Bears from
- 6:28having that extra time out. I just think the display of
- 6:32coaching by Kevin O'Connell in that game was just absolutely
- 6:34fantastic. And so maybe it's recency, but I
- 6:38just think that's what I took away from Week 1 is, is Kevin
- 6:42O'connell's just absolutely fantastic.
- 6:44And to add on to that, I mean, that was Ben John.
- 6:47That was supposed to be our time to see what Ben Johnson is made
- 6:51out of. You know, he's I don't want to
- 6:53say it's the same situation. It's not.
- 6:55It's kind of similar where it's like you got both of these teams
- 6:58that people are thinking like are going to take steps forward.
- 7:02I mean, obviously the Vikings did well last season, but no one
- 7:05thinks they're going to be taking a step back just because
- 7:07they lost Sam Darnold. So I think the Bears with Ben
- 7:11Johnson and just the whole new look there.
- 7:13It was one of those things where I was excited to see how it went
- 7:16because I see Ben Johnson and Kevin O'Connell kind of in the
- 7:19same bracket as of coaches where they're both young, bringing a
- 7:24new energy. And you can kind of tell these
- 7:26guys are going to be around the league for the next 1020 years.
- 7:29Like I don't see either of these guys just falling out.
- 7:32That being said, I definitely think if it was a tale of two
- 7:37halves for Kevin O'Connell, if you look at that first half, you
- 7:39like, dude, this guy is getting torched.
- 7:41I don't know what he's doing. I don't know what the plan is.
- 7:44But that second-half is really, I mean, you look at the full
- 7:46game, it's like, hey, do you come out with a win or not?
- 7:48And they did, and they looked really good towards the end, so.
- 7:53And that's what makes a great coach.
- 7:54When things aren't going your way, can you turn it around,
- 7:58especially with your quarterback who's never played a game in the
- 8:00NFL? This is his first game and he
- 8:02struggled the entire first half and into the third quarter and
- 8:06he turned it around somehow. All right, so let's get move on
- 8:11to our week one over or under reactions.
- 8:14So got a few questions I'm going to ask you guys and you guys
- 8:20tell me if this is an overreaction or an under
- 8:22reaction. So the first one here is
- 8:25overreaction or under reaction. Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman
- 8:29will finish in the top ten in receiving yards.
- 8:32This season overreaction. I think why do you say that an
- 8:38accurate reaction, Beaver, you first.
- 8:44Because no one would have said that before this week's game.
- 8:47I mean, unless you're a Bills fan maybe, and this might be
- 8:50another over under reaction later on, but do you do any of
- 8:53you guys think Daniel Jones will be a top five quarterback in
- 8:57production this year? I mean, no, they routed the
- 9:01Dolphins. I just think that there's a lot
- 9:03of things in this and for the most part it's one week.
- 9:06But no, I think even if he does catch fire, I think other
- 9:09defenses are going to kind of put a stop to that.
- 9:11But I don't, I'm not saying he's going to be bad.
- 9:13I just don't think he's going to be.
- 9:14Tough to him. I semi disagree with that
- 9:17comparison, Avery, because we're talking about Daniel Jones on
- 9:21the Colts, who they were supposed to be bad bad and we're
- 9:25then we're talking about the dolphins team, which was damn
- 9:28near historically bad week one. They weren't even the worst
- 9:32technically weren't even the worst team of the week, but they
- 9:36looked very, very bad. And so we're talking about a guy
- 9:40who is not a bad football player and comparing him to a team that
- 9:44played incredibly bad versus one of the only real options on a
- 9:50team that has arguably the best quarterback in the NFL.
- 9:54And so when you have the best quarterback, you're going to
- 9:56have, you're going to have the top 10 receiver in the NFL.
- 10:00It just is, it's going to happen.
- 10:01At least it should happen. And so I I remember in our
- 10:05fantasy draft when we were sitting here talking about it
- 10:08and Keon Coleman was still on the board and said, hey, we need
- 10:10to get that guy because Buffalo has no one else.
- 10:13They don't like, they don't have anybody else.
- 10:15Matt Hollis isn't there anymore. The Dalton Kincaid is not
- 10:19reliable. They don't have good, good,
- 10:22reliable people. And and the way Josh Allen was
- 10:25just slinging in the football in every scenario and he was just
- 10:29catching it, it seriously. And this, this is an
- 10:32overreaction here. They reminded me of of back in
- 10:35the day, Peyton, Marvin Harrison.
- 10:37Or is it just throwing the football and he'll get it.
- 10:39He'll just he'll just get it wherever he's at.
- 10:42He'll just make the play. But he just continuously did the
- 10:44right thing, was in the right spot, which is what you want
- 10:46more than anything. So Avery, I have a follow up
- 10:50question to that. So if I would have told you that
- 10:53last year, Lad Mcconkey would have finished in the top ten in
- 10:56receiving yards, would you have said yes?
- 10:58Probably not. Last year at the start of the
- 11:01season. He finished #10 he finished at
- 11:05#10 he was a top 10 receiver in receiving yards last year.
- 11:08So not that that that this it's a different player, a different
- 11:11player, but just, you know, just saying, nobody would have
- 11:14thought that Lad Mcconkey would have finished top ten in
- 11:16receiving yards. Oh, I'm not saying it's not
- 11:20possible. I mean, there's probably a lot
- 11:21of guys that make the top ten that I wouldn't have thought.
- 11:23I just don't think that this week is any indication of it.
- 11:27OK, so I think I think this is an under reaction personally
- 11:31because you look at a sat line, he had eight catches for 112
- 11:35yards and a touchdown on 11 targets.
- 11:38Guess how many times he was targeted with double digit
- 11:40targets last year? One time and it was in the one
- 11:44time and it was in the very last game of the regular season and
- 11:48Josh Allen did not play in that game.
- 11:50So that was the only time last year where he was targeted with
- 11:53double digit targets. So in his rookie season, he was
- 11:58never targeted more than seven times in any other game.
- 12:01Aside from that one game where Josh Allen did not play.
- 12:04The most catches he had in any game last year was 5, and he did
- 12:08that one time. He never had five catches again.
- 12:11It was only that one time. He averaged 19.2 yards a catch
- 12:16last year, which is pretty Dang good.
- 12:19But this time so far, he's averaging 14 yards a catch.
- 12:23Now that may look worse, but to me that tells me that he is a
- 12:28more well-rounded receiver now versus last year instead of just
- 12:31being a 1 trick pony where he can occasionally make a a large
- 12:36play. He had one 100 yard receiving
- 12:39game last year and he already has one this year.
- 12:42I think he's going to finish as a top 10 receiver in receiving
- 12:45yards this year because I think Josh Allen trusts him and I
- 12:49think that he has become a more well-rounded receiver than he
- 12:53was last year going into his second year.
- 12:55And this is this is no real indication on the entire season,
- 12:59but Buffalo as a team, sorry, Buffalo threw the ball 60% of
- 13:06the time. Now, granted, they were playing
- 13:09from behind a lot in that game. And 60% is an incredibly high
- 13:13mark. And so if you had a team who's
- 13:16got a player like Josh Allen and you plan passing 60% of the
- 13:20time, I mean, your receivers are just going to be good.
- 13:23It was just going to have all the yards, but again, it's Week
- 13:261 and they they were behind for most of the games until the very
- 13:29end. So that's it's.
- 13:31Different, right? But we've also talked about this
- 13:34before is in the AFC championship game, who did Josh
- 13:37Allen have to rely on? He didn't have anybody right
- 13:41now, if Keon Coleman can, at least he doesn't have to have 8
- 13:46catches for 112 yards every game.
- 13:48But if he can just be a consistent receiver that Josh
- 13:50Allen trusts, that's going to make all the difference for the
- 13:53Bills, not only in the regular season, but when they get into
- 13:56the playoffs as well. All right, so second one here,
- 14:01overreaction or underreaction? The Green Bay Packers are the
- 14:04best team in the NFC. Overreaction.
- 14:11And give your reasoning while I kill time.
- 14:17So I mean, the Super Bowl champions won their first game,
- 14:21right? Right.
- 14:22So the Super Bowl champion Eagles won their first game.
- 14:26And yeah, it didn't look the prettiest, but they had a huge
- 14:28weather delay and that killed all the vibes.
- 14:31Nothing happened on Thursday before before that, right?
- 14:35So like, they didn't? Even have their best defensive
- 14:38player because. They yeah, their best defensive
- 14:41player was an absolute idiot, spit on her human, which is just
- 14:45never OK. And he was.
- 14:47Either best defensive player. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:51He got he got fined 57,000 or 52,000 something like that some.
- 14:55For the spit. Yeah, for frustrating on him.
- 14:57No, no game suspensions or anything like that besides the
- 15:00one he had objected for before the game even started.
- 15:03Absolutely ridiculous. So I I think that you have to
- 15:08beat the best to be the to be the best.
- 15:09And I'm not calling the Chargers the best.
- 15:12I'm sure we'll get to that too. But but I, I think that you, I
- 15:16still have to give to the Eagles.
- 15:18I, I think that they, they did just enough to win and didn't,
- 15:23didn't do more. That's why I kind of stopped
- 15:25there. I would say that's an
- 15:27overreaction. I would say that kind of going
- 15:29with what Will said, not necessarily need to beat the
- 15:33best, but I think that the teams that are ahead in my mind are
- 15:37the Eagles, the Vikings and the Lions.
- 15:40And I feel like if you can beat those guys, everything else is
- 15:45just window dressing. Oregon spanked the ever living
- 15:49shit out of Oklahoma State. No one's out here saying like,
- 15:53they can beat Georgia, they can beat, you know, it's like, hey,
- 15:56well, we all know in college at least that like there's some
- 16:00chasm of a difference when you're playing one team over
- 16:03another. And I think this is one of those
- 16:05where it's like, yeah, you guys did you did look really good.
- 16:08But when it comes down to it, like, let's see where you're
- 16:12actually at. Because right now we're talking
- 16:14and that's I understand the nature of this game is over
- 16:16reaction under reaction. But I want to see how they do
- 16:21long term, like over this season.
- 16:23I want to see how they do over the first eight games before I
- 16:26would put them there just because I think those other
- 16:30teams, even if they have a slightly slow start, even like
- 16:32the Lions, like I don't think the Lions are going to lose too
- 16:35many games. But yeah, I don't think, I don't
- 16:37know if they're there yet. I mean, they could be.
- 16:39We just haven't seen it because they haven't played enough
- 16:41games. Right, and that's, that's kind
- 16:43of where I'm at. So like right now, I think it's
- 16:45an overreaction. I think they have the potential
- 16:47to be, but right now I think it's an overreaction.
- 16:49And I just, I, I love their defense aside from Mike Parsons.
- 16:53Screw Michael Parsons. He sucks.
- 16:55He's not even good anyway. But I, so I really like what
- 16:59their defense is doing. And I, I just, I'm a little bit
- 17:03worried about their offense, like not not worried about their
- 17:06offense, but I just think that their offense needs to show more
- 17:09because as great as their defense was, they held the lines
- 17:12to 13 points. The offense scored 27 points,
- 17:16which I'm not saying 27 points is bad, but you know, you look
- 17:19at the Bills and Ravens and I know they're not in the NFC, but
- 17:23they're, they're out there scoring 40 points a game.
- 17:25You scored 10 points in the second-half.
- 17:28So like and you didn't you did not score off the turnover.
- 17:33So I just think that the Packers offense is still not elite.
- 17:39I think their defense can be elite.
- 17:41I don't know if their offense is elite.
- 17:43I think their offense is good. I don't think it's elite though.
- 17:46And so that's why I don't think that the Packers are the best
- 17:50team in the NFCI do think they're a very good team and I
- 17:53think they have the potential, but I don't think that they're
- 17:55the best team right now. All right, so moving on to the
- 17:58third one here. So I'm going to go with what
- 18:02will actually mentioned with the Chargers.
- 18:04So, overreaction or under reaction, The Los Angeles
- 18:08Chargers are an elite team. I'm going to go with under
- 18:12reaction. Oh, I and it's not because they
- 18:19beat the Chiefs, it is because of that, but it's specifically
- 18:24because the the dragon, the chargers offensive line gave
- 18:34Justin Herbert a day and a half to throw the football.
- 18:38Joe Alt made that defensive line from the Chiefs was a quite
- 18:44small children. He put his hand on Chris Jones
- 18:48and Chris Jones basically just stop moving just like no, you're
- 18:51going to stay here and my dad back there.
- 18:54He's going to do what he wants and given we saw it in Oregon,
- 18:58we've we've seen flashes of it through his career.
- 19:01If you give Herbert enough time, he's going to make the play
- 19:05happen. They don't have Brandon Staley
- 19:07common plays anymore. So they've got an actual head
- 19:09coach doing the right thing now. They've got they've got a lot of
- 19:13the pieces there. They I think Khalil Mack still
- 19:16on that defense, right? He's still he resigning in Los
- 19:19Angeles. I like this Chargers team a lot
- 19:22and we've said multiple times and multiple different avenues,
- 19:25the Chiefs have kind of stayed stagnant.
- 19:27They've kind of stayed, yeah, we are this good and we're going to
- 19:30keep being this good. But yet everybody else keeps
- 19:33creeping up and up and up and up and the competition is just
- 19:38better now so that they are still the Chiefs are still the
- 19:41Chiefs and they're still going to be there at the end of the
- 19:43year. I'm not going to sit here and
- 19:45take they're not going to make the playoffs.
- 19:46That's why I'm not Avery last week, but but I think that's
- 19:53this first week. I think it was real eye opening
- 19:56for both chiefs and chargers players like like, oh, we
- 20:00actually got a guy, we got a dude.
- 20:02We had a team. We can do the thing we're in
- 20:04Brazil and we just did this thing to that team.
- 20:08Yeah, let's do it. So I I think I think the
- 20:11Chargers now Chargers are going to charge her.
- 20:16So who knows what's next? But like I said earlier, you're
- 20:20going to beat the best to be the best and it.
- 20:23I it was a beat down. Say what you want about that
- 20:26game, they whooped the Chiefs. Before I get into this I just
- 20:32want to acknowledge no one else can see this, only us I believe.
- 20:36But whatever this picture is behind our screens.
- 20:39Dude they did me so dirty. I just want to like point.
- 20:44Out. I was wondering when you were
- 20:45going to do? This I'm like looking at it and
- 20:47and it's hard to see because our screens are covering it.
- 20:49So while Will was giving that take, which I do agree with, I'm
- 20:53like trying to find a way to look at it and if you like pull
- 20:56the screen down a little bit and just like drop it for it shows
- 21:00for a split second, I'm like, yo, let's redo that one.
- 21:06There you go, the. Reaction on the background.
- 21:09That's exactly why I put it out there, dude.
- 21:12I'm like, that's three years older.
- 21:14That's exactly why I put it on there.
- 21:18That's so rough. All right, all right.
- 21:21Anyway, no one will ever see that.
- 21:22So if you hear me talking about it, just know that it's already
- 21:24been changed by the time you listen to this.
- 21:29I I I also think it's an under reaction.
- 21:31I think the chargers are looking really good.
- 21:34I mean, to be honest, I think the only reason I would ever say
- 21:37it's an overreaction is just because of how much they've kind
- 21:40of let me down over the past few seasons while thinking that
- 21:43they're better than they've been playing.
- 21:45So I've always felt that the Chargers are a little bit better
- 21:49of a team than their record reflects.
- 21:51And I think now it's maybe it's been one game, but maybe it
- 21:55starts to show now. I think Jim Harbaugh is a great
- 21:58coach. I think he plays to win, which
- 22:01is why he leaves programs with so many issues because boys
- 22:05there to win, man rules are just something that get in the way.
- 22:10I think Herbert's great. I think most of that team is
- 22:13really good, so I think they could be very elite team this
- 22:16year. Cool.
- 22:19I actually put that is it is an overreaction and not to say that
- 22:24they don't have the potential. It's kind of the same thing with
- 22:26the Packers for me. But you you do look at Justin
- 22:29Herbert's stats. He completed 73.5% of his
- 22:32passes. He threw for 318 yards and he
- 22:35had three touchdowns. 4 players had at least 50 receiving yards.
- 22:39And so if you look at that and the win, then yes.
- 22:44But they did not create any turnovers on defense.
- 22:48And you know, it's the Chiefs, but the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes
- 22:51throws a lot more interceptions than people like to believe he
- 22:54does. They did not create any
- 22:56turnovers on defense. And their run game averaged 3.6
- 22:59yards per carry. To be truly elite, I feel like
- 23:02you have to be a little bit better than that as as a running
- 23:06team, especially because that's what Harbaugh wants to do is he
- 23:10wants to run the ball. And I know they didn't do that
- 23:12in this game, and they didn't necessarily need to do that in
- 23:15this game. But I think in order to be a
- 23:18truly elite team, that's what they need to do.
- 23:21And they need to create turnovers on the defensive side.
- 23:24Even though the defense did a very good job of containing
- 23:27Mahomes and that offense, I think they kind of let the
- 23:31Chiefs back in it a little bit. And so I would say they're not
- 23:35quite there, but they can be, right?
- 23:39And then I've got one more for you guys here.
- 23:41So, overreaction or underreaction?
- 23:44The Dolphins are the worst team in the NFL.
- 23:50Overreaction. Why do you say that?
- 23:53For the same reason, I don't think Daniel Jones is the best
- 23:55quarterback in the league right now.
- 23:57I think that was a really bad week.
- 23:58I think if anything, maybe for this week they were the worst
- 24:03team. But I think if we're talking
- 24:04about like who I think will end up with the worst record, not
- 24:09them like to reserve that spot usually for the Panthers.
- 24:15But yeah, you see the Panthers, maybe even the Patriots, I
- 24:21always think they're going to do a lot better, maybe.
- 24:25So the Dolphins, I don't know. The Dolphins scored a touchdown
- 24:29this week. Not every team did that.
- 24:34They also scored the second least amount of points in the
- 24:37league. Sure.
- 24:39So then I feel like we kind of have to give worst team in the
- 24:42league to the Giants. He only scored six points.
- 24:44He didn't have a touchdown. I mean the Giants statistically
- 24:49are yards per game 23rd, rush yards per game they're 23rd and
- 24:56past yards per game. Completion percentage was 31st
- 24:59in the league. Your QB got sacked 5.3% or 5.1%
- 25:04of the time, 17th in the league. I mean offensively and
- 25:08defensively these Giants were bad.
- 25:11No turnovers either way. Time of possession, you were
- 25:1515th in the league. I right in the middle.
- 25:17I mean, these Giants were really bad.
- 25:19The Dolphins were not. Well, actually looking at the
- 25:25numbers, the Giants that have the the Dolphins had less yards,
- 25:31more pants, less yards. Statistically, the the Giants
- 25:35were actually better than the than the Dolphins actually.
- 25:40Now I'm learning this. OK, well, I understand.
- 25:44I, I didn't know what I was going to get into this.
- 25:46What I understand is the Dolphins pass the football 74%
- 25:53of the time. That's an incredibly high number
- 25:58for a quarterback. That was very bad.
- 26:01He threw 31 passes in that game which had 4.7 pass yards or
- 26:08attempts. That's really bad and he just
- 26:11kept doing. Now granted they couldn't run
- 26:15the ball either, but they had 6.5 yards per rush, so it's
- 26:20better than your passing yards and that's really sad.
- 26:24I don't know, I just they only ran the ball 12 times in the
- 26:26entire game. They passed 31 times.
- 26:29They were playing from behind and I get that, but when you're
- 26:32when, when Tula looks as bad as he does, man, I'm having to eat
- 26:37some words there. He looked real bad.
- 26:42Yeah, Dolphins are the worst team right now, but it's just a
- 26:44fool right now. It's not a forever.
- 26:48See, I think it's an under reaction because there's there's
- 26:52just no way that a team that has that much talent can be that
- 26:57bad. Like you've got to a who you
- 27:01know some people I already think he's a bad quarterback, but he's
- 27:04not the worst quarterback in the league.
- 27:05He looked like it though. He threw 2 interceptions and he
- 27:08lost a fumble, so he had three turnovers.
- 27:11He got benched for Zach Wilson in this game.
- 27:13That's how bad he was. Then you've got Tyree Kill,
- 27:16you've got Jalen Waddle, you've got Devon HN, you've got Ollie
- 27:20Gordon, who I know he's a rookie and he hasn't played much, but I
- 27:23think he's a promising young running back.
- 27:25You there's no way you can have that much talent and be that
- 27:28bad. So I think that if this
- 27:32continues, even just a couple more weeks, the Dolphins are
- 27:35going to have a fire sale. I think they're going to have a
- 27:38fire sale. Everybody's going to be
- 27:40available and their team's just going to be bad because not only
- 27:45are you already bad with all the talent that you have, you're
- 27:49going to be bad once you trade all that talent away.
- 27:52So I think it's an under reaction because I can see this
- 27:54continuing and when it continues, people are going to
- 27:57want out, they're going to request a trade and they're
- 27:59going to be gone from that team and then the team's not going to
- 28:02have anybody who can potentially turn things around.
- 28:05I think the most damning thing to the whole team is the whole
- 28:09Dolphins organization is that everybody said, well, Mike
- 28:13McDaniel and when two way is healthy, this team will go me
- 28:17and who? I said that I thought so my
- 28:19work, the team is good When two way is healthy.
- 28:22Well, by all accounts, 2 is healthy.
- 28:24That whole team is healthy and that's the whole team.
- 28:26But most of that team is healthy and and Mike McDaniel is this is
- 28:30not his first year in an offense.
- 28:31Everyone's supposed to know the system and they looked abysmal.
- 28:35I mean they made the quotes are like All Stars and that says
- 28:38something. Daniel Jones walked away working
- 28:43like an MVP candidate. Yeah, it was.
- 28:48It was just bad. All right, so we probably have
- 28:54time for one more. I don't have any more but you
- 28:56either of you guys have one that you want to do?
- 28:59I don't want to figure it doesn't.
- 29:01Yeah, mine was kind of taken. Well, we talked about it, so you
- 29:04can go ahead. Overreaction or under reaction?
- 29:07The new kickoff system is only going it if shoot me a new
- 29:12kickoff system is going to improve the NFL right, like
- 29:17right, they're doing this whole thing for player safety like
- 29:20it's it's supposed to be all this seem to be great.
- 29:22So overreaction reaction is new. Put the shoot me not playoff
- 29:25kickoff as a player multiplies the new kickoff saying is it
- 29:29good for the NFL Like this is a good thing.
- 29:33Did you see any kickoffs? You know what I'm talking about.
- 29:37Yeah, I, I, I guess I, I, I'm. Maybe it's closer, maybe you
- 29:39just asked me to pose a question.
- 29:42Do you like the new kickoff system in that DFLS deal with?
- 29:46As opposed to like what they used to do or?
- 29:49Yeah, yeah, yeah. As opposed to what they used to
- 29:50do, this whole new thing where you start the the opponents
- 29:54start way up and you can't run until the ball is touched if you
- 29:59touch. Back what was the thing we did
- 30:02last year? This is not the same, isn't it?
- 30:04They've repenal, they've penalized it even more.
- 30:06If you kick it into the end zone, they a touchback is only a
- 30:0935 yard line now. If you kick it too short, they
- 30:12start in a 40 yard line now. So you have to kick it into
- 30:15returners hands. It's this whole big thing.
- 30:19Yeah, I like it. No, I I was struggling to
- 30:22remember. Also just college football is
- 30:24getting in my way. I like it.
- 30:27Especially if it incentivizes the kicking team.
- 30:30Not like, like it incentivizes them to kick it to the player,
- 30:35but also incentivizes that team to try to run it out.
- 30:38I think the more that you can pit the two teams against each
- 30:42other to not just make it, yeah, just Kick It Out of the end
- 30:45zone. We don't want to risk it Now
- 30:47it's like, well, we don't want to give him extra field
- 30:49position. Let's give it to him.
- 30:51But we also need to stop them because they will break past.
- 30:54I kind of like it in the sense that the line moving forward
- 30:59almost seems more linear where before it was a lot more
- 31:02stretched out. So I feel like now you only have
- 31:05to like make like 2 guys miss and then you're like off to the
- 31:09house. I don't know what the average
- 31:11is. Very exciting.
- 31:12I heard the average starting field position was this weekend,
- 31:15but it's way up there. There was a lot of drives
- 31:18starting like a 50 yard line. Yeah, I saw a lot of drives
- 31:22start a lot further than we're used to.
- 31:24And I kind of like it because, you know, I'm just used to
- 31:29seeing a a kickoff and somebody just kneed in the end zone and
- 31:32then we just go to another commercial break.
- 31:34It's like, OK, well, what was even the point of watching that?
- 31:36Like there wasn't even a point in watching it.
- 31:38It was basically the same thing as a commercial.
- 31:41Yeah, so I just remember hating that, hating to watch it.
- 31:45Yeah. You come back from commercial,
- 31:46you do the kickoff and then you just go to another commercial.
- 31:49Yep. Yeah, but that's when you're
- 31:51pretty much pointless. After a touchdown, that 2
- 31:54minutes with the PAT, the commercial, the kickoff, the
- 31:57commercial, that's when you're supposed to be taking a mad dump
- 32:01and refilling your nachos. Now that kickoff is an exciting
- 32:05an exciting play, and so you have to watch it.
- 32:09You lost dump time is what you did, and that's not good.
- 32:12Now you got to hold it until after the maximum.
- 32:18Time dump just got even bigger. I actually am anti this change.
- 32:22I I don't like this. I don't like the whole new
- 32:25kickoff thing they have going is this.
- 32:29About Is this about your bowel movements?
- 32:31Is this where you're? This is about the defenses in
- 32:36the NFL. Actually, the NFL, and
- 32:39rightfully so, is giving more favors to offenses, right,
- 32:44because people like us are watching football to watch a 40
- 32:48to 41 Sunday Night Football game.
- 32:50Nobody wants to see a three to six Alabama LSU game in the NFL.
- 32:56That's just not what they want to see.
- 32:58And so they want to see these high scoring.
- 33:00Let's start the ball on the 40 yard line and go in and just,
- 33:05and so, so we get more offense than the other.
- 33:08I think they're doing defense is an incredible disservice, which
- 33:12I think is also why you're seeing these defensive player
- 33:15contracts go up and up and up. Because if you're really good at
- 33:18it, then you are worth even more because they've only got to
- 33:21cover 60 yards and not covering 80 yards anymore.
- 33:25So I I don't like it because it it's just handing more free
- 33:29yards to the offenses. Yeah, I can say from that aspect
- 33:34because it it does like if you're just going to move the
- 33:36ball even further forward than it was before, if you, if you
- 33:41kick it, do a touchback or whatever, like, yeah, I, I, I, I
- 33:46get it. I get it from that aspect.
- 33:48I. On the flip side, though, I've
- 33:51I've always felt like special teams was kind of a joke just
- 33:55because it's basically just the transitional offense or defense
- 33:59into the other team getting in there.
- 34:00Like you're basically just in there to not make a mistake.
- 34:05Like unless you're the returner, like any other job in special
- 34:08teams is just look, we're already mentally counting these
- 34:12points or making or like have already like decided it's going
- 34:16to be punted and we're going to pin him there.
- 34:17Don't mess it up like that's basically what it is.
- 34:20And I feel like this, although I do agree with Will, I like to
- 34:24see a team have to March down the field rather than one, maybe
- 34:28two first downs were already already in field goal range.
- 34:32But I would say that I would like it.
- 34:36Well, my reservations would leave if I saw the special teams
- 34:41around the league like really taking advantage of the
- 34:45situation. Meaning I want to almost see at
- 34:48the end of the year some rule changes being proposed, either
- 34:53to do something to stop some team from exploiting this new
- 34:58whatever kickoff situation or to try to revert it back because
- 35:01some teams can't keep up. Like I want to see teams that
- 35:04are like, oh dude, it's like 20% chance they're going to take
- 35:08this to the house. Like you have to stop them.
- 35:10They've figured something out here.
- 35:11They know now with the new dynamic of like, rather than
- 35:14having to come in and just clashing, it starts here.
- 35:17They figured something out. I just want to see some
- 35:19innovation there. 'Cause if they.
- 35:21Can figure something out like the special tosh push, the
- 35:25special teams tosh push equivalent like.
- 35:28I'd love to see something like that.
- 35:29Something that like forces the league to have to like they at
- 35:33least reckon with some of their rules they have.
- 35:38I in in a red. This was Oregon 2A high school
- 35:43football. So we're playing nine on nine.
- 35:45It's not even 11 on 11 football. So I'm sorry.
- 35:49I was out at a reference game and we asked them, Hey, how's
- 35:52your kicker? What is your what is your plan
- 35:54on kickoff? And this the coach for this one
- 35:57school, the visiting school said, oh, we're going to once I
- 35:59kick it every time because this is 9 man football and if you
- 36:03kick it deep, it's just going to run back because it's a normal
- 36:05size field with four less players, 2 on each side.
- 36:10And so and so we asked the other team, the home teams in which
- 36:13are playing over and kick it deep every time that team did,
- 36:16the home team had two kickoffs, ran all the way back for
- 36:19touchdowns that game. And is that?
- 36:22The team that said they wanted to onside kick it.
- 36:23No, that's the team that said they were going to kick it deep
- 36:26and the team said they were on sided.
- 36:28They actually got two of those kickoffs back.
- 36:31They they recovered the onside kick.
- 36:33And if you're going to give up, if you don't have a good kicker,
- 36:36especially in high school football, you're kicking the
- 36:38ball to like what, 25, maybe 20 yard line and that's not very
- 36:45good. I don't know how to say it.
- 36:47And so, so they're going to get to the 40 anyway.
- 36:49And so if you onside kick it 1015 yards, they're at the 45,
- 36:53you're losing 5 yards and you have an option to get it.
- 36:56And so, so there's a real strategy.
- 36:58And what I'm saying is, is that in the NFL with this new kick
- 37:03off system that they're doing there, there absolutely will be
- 37:07an innovation of, of OK, so we can't, we can't onset, we can't
- 37:12surprise on tight ticket. That really bothers me.
- 37:15That bothers me personally. We can't surprise on tight
- 37:18ticket anymore that. Is dumb, yeah.
- 37:20But and we can't move until he touches the football.
- 37:25So what if we just drill a ball right at the back of winning
- 37:29their front lineman and hope for the best.
- 37:31And if it bounces and goes to the end zone, it's a touchback
- 37:35on the 20 yard line. So let's just start kicking line
- 37:37drives at their frontline with the guys and hope for the best.
- 37:41OK? I don't think the rule says it
- 37:42has to touch that returner's hands at the whole gamesmanship.
- 37:46It's it's going on right now. They're going to figure out how
- 37:49to outsmart the damn system because it's a stupid system.
- 37:54Yeah, we. Always.
- 37:55Do we always find a way around? No.
- 37:59It's hard, but. I was just going to say real
- 38:03quick, there's this Malcolm Gladwell book called Outliers.
- 38:06Basically this team, this coach, coach a little like a girl's
- 38:11basketball, like maybe like 10 years old, these like Palo Alto
- 38:15girls, he's like their parents are like coders and stuff like
- 38:19they're small, they're not great.
- 38:21And what he did was he said we're not better, we're not
- 38:24faster, we're not stronger, we're not more skilled.
- 38:27We're just going to run. And so they ran the full court
- 38:30press the entire game and the the opposing coach hated it.
- 38:35So you can't keep doing that. And I'm listening to this.
- 38:38I'm like, dude, this is genius. Now, The thing is in
- 38:40professionals, whether it's NBA or whatever, it's not realistic
- 38:44that you get these. You don't have them for that
- 38:46long to get them crazy conditioned to like do some
- 38:48crazy stuff like that. But I do wonder with some of
- 38:51this, like are there things whether it's in the kickoff or
- 38:55whatever, where it's a matter of like effort or like I don't want
- 38:59to say risk kind of like going for it on 4th, 4th down every
- 39:02time. Obviously there's usually a time
- 39:04and a place for that. But I do wonder how much of
- 39:07that, kind of like with basketball, it's like, hey, if
- 39:09we just ran full court press all the time, like we could probably
- 39:14win some games even if we're not as good.
- 39:16I wonder if there's some stuff in football like that, or at
- 39:18least what they could do with the kickoff system.
- 39:20Because I feel like there's going to be some teams that just
- 39:22try to do some dirty little tricks that stay within the
- 39:24rules, but the opposing coach will hate because it didn't go
- 39:28his way. And then their owner will ask to
- 39:30change the rule. And then we'll get some other
- 39:32convoluted deformed kickoff thing until we're back to just
- 39:37like, just let him get CTE, man. Just let him hit each other.
- 39:42I mean, you see it, you see it regularly, right, Because
- 39:44because you get to go back to the Colin Kaepernick days where
- 39:47you didn't have regularly running quarterbacks to the NFL.
- 39:51There were some here and there. Michael Vick was well before
- 39:54that, but they didn't have this full RPO designed offensive
- 39:59system with that. And so as as the athletic
- 40:03ability of your players will change, the way of the game
- 40:07changes. We had less.
- 40:10Running run play percentage in the NFL, it was less this year
- 40:15than week one of the last two years.
- 40:18So, so we ran the ball less this year than the last two years,
- 40:21week 1, which means we're moving more to a throwing lead again.
- 40:25I I think the trend is that we're going to be throwing the
- 40:27ball a lot more. You sound a lot that it just
- 40:30felt like the ball was being thrown a lot this week, unless
- 40:34you're the Ravens and threw the ball 19 times, it didn't matter.
- 40:37They didn't need to throw the ball.
- 40:38But everybody else, their percentages were incredibly high
- 40:40for throwing the football. And so, so I think the game is
- 40:44very cyclical where it's OK. Well, well, we, we have we're
- 40:48paying our quarterbacks all this money.
- 40:50Let's have them throw the football and let's, let's get
- 40:53bigger plays through the air. And so I, I think that you're
- 40:55right is that they're just coming up with more innovative
- 40:57ways to continue to push the game in every possible way.
- 41:01Whether we have to change rules for it or not, who knows, But
- 41:05but you're getting these guys who can run quarterbacks, who
- 41:08can run the football very well. Like how Lamar Jackson, Jayden
- 41:11Daniels at Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, he runs very well.
- 41:16But then when they stand up and throw it, they're throwing the
- 41:18ball 100 slipping yards. And it's like, how are you this
- 41:21good at this much stuff? Yeah.
- 41:28All right. Well, we should probably move on
- 41:29to our next segment. Yeah, sorry, run out of time.
- 41:32So you're, you're good. So last week we announced that
- 41:36we are all looking for new NFL teams.
- 41:40And so this week we decided that we're going to go through some
- 41:43of the teams that we have eliminated as our new potential
- 41:47favorite team. So I don't know.
- 41:52Just killed us a fly. Avery freaking got him dude.
- 41:55He's juicy. Avery's like over here with the
- 42:02bat on the court. Yeah, that's a.
- 42:08Real. Well, he landed, he landed on
- 42:10the cable and I'm like, he's going to fly away any second.
- 42:13I'm like just commit, commit. And I got him.
- 42:15So very happy. Very feels like a press
- 42:18conference, like I'm, I think I'll be able to get him.
- 42:21I got him. Right by my performance anyways.
- 42:24Anyways, Avery, why don't you get us started by telling us who
- 42:27some of the teams are that you have eliminated as your
- 42:30particular favorite NFL team and the reasons as to why you
- 42:33eliminated those teams. All right, well I started
- 42:37categorizing all the teams into about 5 different bins or recall
- 42:42whatever. Bottom tier, lower tier, mid
- 42:44tier, upper tier, and then top tier, which is arbitrary and has
- 42:48no structure whatsoever. They were just kind of divisions
- 42:51as far as what I liked from the different teams.
- 42:55But there are some. There's a lot of teams that I'm
- 42:57considering, but there's several that I am in no way considering.
- 43:04These are those teams. First of all, we have the Browns
- 43:08just can't just can never see myself in.
- 43:12They look real good this week though.
- 43:14It has very little to do with how they performed today.
- 43:18There's a lot of reasons I just can't.
- 43:21And no, Cleveland, there are four other teams on this bottom
- 43:25to your list. Second one is the Chiefs also
- 43:29just can't do it. Although I will say that joining
- 43:32the Chiefs now, unless you're just somebody who just watches
- 43:36and knows who Taylor Swift is, if you're an NFL fan, like a
- 43:39real NFL fan and you join the Chiefs now, I would not consider
- 43:43that bandwagoning. I think that they are over the
- 43:48hill as far as success in like this regime this current 10 year
- 43:53goes. So I feel like at this point if
- 43:55you hop in like you would be lucky to see one, maybe two more
- 43:59Super Bowls. I think that time would have
- 44:01been four years ago to hop in. Unless.
- 44:05Three, if I may add there, unless you start claiming, yeah,
- 44:08we won seventh straight or wins the seventh straight AFC
- 44:11Championship Games and we won out in the Super Bowls.
- 44:13Like Pound, you just got here, don't even act.
- 44:17Go to goodwill and you're by a 2017 chief Super Bowl shirts
- 44:21like all right, we're just mate now.
- 44:23They were. I don't think that was a super
- 44:24play red, but like still, come on.
- 44:27Yep #3 we got the Washington Redskins.
- 44:33Not going to be their fan. Not many people are.
- 44:36They got a few new teams that have come in since then, and
- 44:40they all are very derivative of the Redskins.
- 44:43They have the same colors, They're in the same town, they
- 44:46usually carry over the same players, coaches and owners.
- 44:50So I'm not sure exactly what it is.
- 44:53I don't know when we will see the Redskins back in action, but
- 44:56I will not be their fan and I do not recognize the other teams
- 45:00that have come in its stead since #4 the Burrs can't do it.
- 45:08One, I dislike their colors entirely.
- 45:12I think that dark Navy with this orange that does not go well
- 45:16together is horrible. I think the font is gross.
- 45:19I think the sea is overdone. Just be the bears.
- 45:23Don't be the seas where the seas cause Chicago.
- 45:26Try tone. You know they've not been good
- 45:29since the 80s. I think that they are a parody
- 45:32of themselves and should be embarrassed #5 the Niners never
- 45:39like the Niners. I think their fans are the
- 45:41worst. I know many Niners fans.
- 45:43I think despite their fandom, they are decent people.
- 45:47I think they're just misguided and I think that the fandom
- 45:50makes them annoying and less than bearable to be around.
- 45:54I don't want to be a part of that.
- 45:56I don't want to have anything to do with that.
- 45:59Shredding, you see. It's only with just a team, but
- 46:03now it's getting personal evil. And individuals.
- 46:07But that's it. That's five.
- 46:08And at this point, if I added anyone else, I would just go for
- 46:11the throat. So the Cleveland Chiefs,
- 46:14Redskins, Niners, Bears, no go. That wasn't even those weren't
- 46:18even like questions for me. So if you just wanted to know
- 46:21where I stood before that, that is it.
- 46:24OK. All right.
- 46:26Well, your turn. Give us the teams that you've
- 46:28eliminated as your potential favorite team and the reasons as
- 46:31to why. Would you like me to go with
- 46:33five as well because I actually have more than 5 eliminated
- 46:37already. How many do you have?
- 46:39123456789101112. Go with 5I.
- 46:45Also, I also have 12. I also have 12.
- 46:49OK, I will. I will stick with five here.
- 46:51We can eliminate more as more episodes go on.
- 46:53So I let's start with the NFC West.
- 46:58Let me just be be be playing about this.
- 47:00The only team remaining in the NFC West is the Rams because the
- 47:04only team worth watching. I live in the Pacific Northwest.
- 47:08Seahawks and Niners fans, much like Avery just said, absolutely
- 47:12unbearable they are. I have never once met a level
- 47:16headed Seahawks fan I truly never want it is always we're
- 47:21the best we're this we're that now.
- 47:24That's not true. There is one Seahawks man who I
- 47:27would say keeps a pretty double headed shout out Joey Case.
- 47:31But besides that guy, Seahawks fans are the most some of the
- 47:37most annoying to deal with people I've ever dealt with.
- 47:41And then you get the Niners. Put them in the same boat above
- 47:44the sea house for how terrible and annoying their fans are.
- 47:48And then we got the Cardinals here.
- 47:50I I just don't like the decision.
- 47:53Yeah, the decisions the organization is making.
- 47:56That's not what that one says. I have nothing really against
- 47:59the Cardinals fans. The flies moving, dude.
- 48:05I have nothing against Cardinals, like Cardinals fans
- 48:08specifically, but I just don't like the way this team is
- 48:12moving. They feel very Cowboys asked to
- 48:14me where a couple decent decisions, a couple.
- 48:19I put a cap over it so it couldn't escape.
- 48:22I'll deal with it after. Go ahead, Sorry.
- 48:25They they, they have a good team perpetually, but they're just
- 48:29like a couple good decisions away from from being great and
- 48:33they just continue to not make those decisions.
- 48:36And if I wanted that, I would just stick with the Cowboys and
- 48:38see. So there's three.
- 48:40Let's go, man. I'm going to go with The Jets.
- 48:47All right? The Jets are on this list is
- 48:49never going to be a fan of them one year in New York, right?
- 48:53I'm not flying to New York for anything especially, well, New
- 48:56Jersey. You know what?
- 48:58Full. Even worse.
- 49:00Let's start over here. Let's go back to The Jets.
- 49:03We're sticking with The Jets, but you call yourselves the New
- 49:07York Jets and then you're in New Jersey.
- 49:10OK. I don't think I need to say
- 49:12anything more than that. I'm not going to that side of
- 49:15this country to watch a bad football team be bad.
- 49:20Your best quarterback in recent history is Mark Sanchez, and
- 49:23that's just not good. So there's that.
- 49:27Yeah. I, I, Yeah.
- 49:30So there's four. And I think just for sake of
- 49:35consistency here, I'm going to go with the brands, right?
- 49:38Browns are definitely off my list.
- 49:40There's no way. What can Brown do for me?
- 49:43Not be my favorite team. You've done mascot.
- 49:47To be fair, neither The Jets nor the Giants play New York.
- 49:50They should both be the New Jersey.
- 49:52They should both be New Jersey Giants.
- 49:53Yes, yes, in New Jersey football team.
- 49:56The difference is is that the Giants have Jackson darts, so.
- 49:59Yeah, but the Giants logo on their helmet is lowercase
- 50:03letters, and that bothers me more than it should.
- 50:08Trigger warning for will. That gives me as they say.
- 50:11All caps. That gives me, as they say, the
- 50:15ick, but the Browns. I mean, I don't feel like any as
- 50:18much explanation really needed there.
- 50:20The Browns be the Browns, right? I I like doing Gabriel.
- 50:23I like individual pieces. Miles Garrett love what he's
- 50:26doing ripping helmets off Mason Rudolph.
- 50:29Sit down for a while. I I love what individual pieces
- 50:34of the Browns, but to call myself a Brian's fan, there's
- 50:38just no way I could do that to my children.
- 50:41That's kind of where I'm at there.
- 50:45All right, cool. So I also have 12 teams
- 50:48eliminated, but just for the sake of time, I will give five.
- 50:51I'm going to try to give four of them that are not teams that you
- 50:55guys mentioned. One of them I will mention
- 50:57though is the 49ers because I cannot stand 49ers fans just.
- 51:02Absolutely. We should all choose.
- 51:05The Niners. No, but I, I used to work.
- 51:10I used to work with a guy who swore that Brock Purdy is the
- 51:15best quarterback that has ever stepped foot on this planet.
- 51:18He's better than Tom Brady. He's a Hall of Famer.
- 51:20He's better than Joe Montana. He's better than Steve Young.
- 51:23He is the best quarterback that there has ever been in the NFL.
- 51:26And there's no question about it.
- 51:28I just hate that 49ers fans put all their players into the Hall
- 51:32of Fame when they're not even that good like Debo Samuel.
- 51:36Debo, I mean, sure, he had a good week one game with the with
- 51:39the commanders. Is he going to be in the Hall of
- 51:42Fame? Not even close.
- 51:43Not even close. But 49ers fans will tell you
- 51:45that Debo Samuel is a first ballot Hall of Fame player.
- 51:49Same with Brock Pretty And I just I cannot stand how they do
- 51:53that with all their players. I can't stand it.
- 51:55And that's why I am eliminating the 49ers, the four other teams.
- 52:00So we've got the Jaguars. I don't think I even need to
- 52:03explain why they're the Jaguars. They're just bad.
- 52:07They're always bad and they're the Jaguars.
- 52:12They ain't never not going to be bad.
- 52:14Exactly the Eagles. As a former Cowboys fan, I hate
- 52:20the Eagles. I cannot stand the Eagles.
- 52:22I will never enjoy watching the Eagles.
- 52:24I will always hate the Eagles. And I also think that Nick
- 52:27Sirianni is the most punchable face in the NFL.
- 52:31Every time I see his face, I want to punch him in the face.
- 52:35I cannot stand looking at that guy just the way that he acts,
- 52:38the way that he looks. I just want to punch him in the
- 52:40face every single time I see him.
- 52:43So that's why I'm eliminating the Eagles.
- 52:45The Packers are another team as a former Cowboys fan that I just
- 52:49cannot stand because they have beaten the Cowboys many many
- 52:53times in the playoffs and just have given me so much grief as a
- 52:57former Cowboys fan that I just will never like the Packers and
- 53:01also they are the reason that I am now a former Cowboys fan.
- 53:05So the Packers are eliminated. The Saints are my fifth one and
- 53:11the reason why it's the Saints. I love their colors.
- 53:14I love their colors and their uniforms I think look really
- 53:16cool. I will never.
- 53:18What about this uniforms they just had?
- 53:20They're weak one uniforms. What did you think of those?
- 53:25I like the regular uniforms. Yeah, these uniforms they wore,
- 53:27we've won. So they were.
- 53:29So which ones? The ones they wore yesterday or
- 53:32Monday or Sunday? The Saints.
- 53:35The Saints. Oh yeah, the helmet I thought
- 53:37was kind of nice. The jersey I'm like this is this
- 53:42gross banana ass flavor like this was that was weird.
- 53:46It wasn't even like a yellow. It's like.
- 53:48Let's. It's gold, but let's like, tone
- 53:50it down. Let's make it like creamy
- 53:53darkened banana, like banana bread banana.
- 53:56Like the the the the sweet one that's already a little bruised.
- 54:01Anyway. Continue, please.
- 54:05All right. So, yeah, the Saints.
- 54:09I will never be a fan of a team that thinks it's a good idea to
- 54:12draft Tyler Shuck. That's all I got to say.
- 54:18Yeah. So yeah, the Jags, Eagles,
- 54:24Packers, Saints and 49ers are five of my 12 eliminated teams
- 54:29that will definitely not be my new favorite team.
- 54:34All right, so we don't have that much time left.
- 54:37Avery, you told me that your game is going to take about 10
- 54:40minutes. Let's just do it.
- 54:42Let's. Not talk about it.
- 54:43Let's just do it. All right, We're ready.
- 54:45Let's do it. Since the year 2000, which
- 54:54running backs have scored the most receiving touchdowns?
- 55:01Derren's rolls. Derren's rolls is #1.
- 55:05Oh nice. Go top, we can go top five.
- 55:09Since 2000. Lashawn McCoy.
- 55:12Since since the year 2000, Lashawn McCoy is not Oh yeah.
- 55:21Let's see, is Todd Gurley on there?
- 55:24Todd Gurley is was did not play long enough.
- 55:29I know, but he was really good. He was really good, yeah.
- 55:33Adrian Peterson. Adrian Peterson is not on there
- 55:38for the top five. There are two active.
- 55:44His brother came back. He's looking for him.
- 55:51I saw. I thought I was like, oh, he
- 55:52started playing and I'm like, no, he's still under the cap.
- 55:54OK. Yeah, two of these players.
- 55:57Austin Eckler is not one of them.
- 55:59Two of them are active. The other two are retired.
- 56:05Can I ask are the 2 that are active are they starters?
- 56:10Yes. OK, I'm a Derrick Henry, but he
- 56:14doesn't receive that much. Nope.
- 56:17No, if we were talking about all around touchdowns, it would be
- 56:22Derrick Henry, but yeah. Yep.
- 56:28And then also on top of this, there's a bonus question.
- 56:32Which running back since the year 2000 has the most receiving
- 56:35yards? Is it not there, He might ask?
- 56:41No. Well, actually, it surprises me.
- 56:43Oh. No, sorry, no, it is.
- 56:46So go for the second most. Oh, we'll be in second place
- 56:50here. My bad.
- 56:52Yeah, I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think of these
- 56:54active players. Active starters with a bunch of
- 56:58receiving touchdowns. Yep, and.
- 57:01McCaffrey. Is #2.
- 57:04Yep, good job he's. Out the other one.
- 57:09One of these thing you should definitely get the other one.
- 57:12Honestly, there's two of these you should definitely get in.
- 57:14The third one, not sure. Is one of them.
- 57:19This may be totally off. Is one of them Adrian James?
- 57:23No. OK, I just took a wild guess
- 57:27there. I like that.
- 57:28I like that. Stephen Jackson Stephen Jackson
- 57:34is not on there. Oh.
- 57:36I would say for most of this, think back to a little while
- 57:42ago, like maybe around the time we started really paying
- 57:45attention to football. It's not Jerome.
- 57:48Bettis that Damian Tomlinson? Well.
- 57:50Damian Tomlinson is number 8, but he is he does have the
- 57:56second most receiving yards, so there's the answer to that
- 57:59question. Frank Gore.
- 58:03Frank Gore is not on there. Oh, OK.
- 58:06I didn't. I didn't think so.
- 58:07I was just taking another wild guess.
- 58:11Active Aaron Jones. Nope.
- 58:16And this is a hard question. I will give you number 6789 and
- 58:2410 though. Number six, and this is more for
- 58:29the sake of, I would love for you guys to just keep guessing
- 58:31these, but this is a kind of tougher one.
- 58:33Number six it's Marshall Faulk with 18 #7 tied with six is
- 58:39Reggie Bush 18, then it's Ladainian Tomlinson, then Tiki
- 58:45Barber 12 and Le'veon Bell at 8:00.
- 58:52So we have Darren's pearls at 1, McCaffrey at 2, and we're
- 58:55needing 3-4 and five I. Mean it's one Alvin Kamara, 04.
- 59:01Yeah, OK. There it is.
- 59:05And these last two number five, you should know.
- 59:09It's a name you IA 100% know. You guys know very well and then
- 59:13the other one, I didn't know this guy very well.
- 59:16He was also a little before my time.
- 59:18It's not Zeke, isn't it? No, I had actually never heard
- 59:21of this man before. So one guy we should get, one
- 59:29guy we shouldn't, right? Yeah, well, maybe, you know, I
- 59:33mean, I'm sure I'll say the name and you'll be like, Oh yeah, I
- 59:35know that is. I just didn't think he was a
- 59:37like super well known player. Oh, this is Adam Sports just
- 59:45dropped Matt Gay. I think we need to cut this
- 59:50short. Way up Tang this is a This is a
- 59:56hard question. Can you give us?
- 59:59I will. Give you.
- 1:00:01I will give you. The two teams that they are
- 1:00:04known for playing on. Same guy or?
- 1:00:08The two different guys, I'll just give the two teams Patriots
- 1:00:12and Bears. Matt Forte.
- 1:00:14Matt Forte. Yeah, Matt.
- 1:00:15Forte is number 5 #3 and he played his entire career on the
- 1:00:22Patriots. Was it white Last name?
- 1:00:25White. James White.
- 1:00:27James White. Thank you.
- 1:00:30Man. Super Bowl like here.
- 1:00:31I never. I had never.
- 1:00:32Heard of him before catches in the Super Bowl.
- 1:00:35Yeah, I mean, I, I'm sure I've seen him.
- 1:00:36He just, that was never a name that I and he didn't.
- 1:00:39I mean he just recently stopped I think 21.
- 1:00:42Yeah, I could not, I I could not have come up with his first
- 1:00:45name, but I could picture him. Yeah.
- 1:00:50Anyway, that was that was, that was a tough one.
- 1:00:52That was a tough game. That was good.
- 1:00:53I liked That was a good one. All right, that is the game.
- 1:00:59Well, anyways, that's that's going to wrap it up for today's
- 1:01:03episode, so next week. We'll.
- 1:01:06Probably do it since we didn't really talk about it today.
- 1:01:08We'll probably do a little bit of like some fantasy football
- 1:01:11talk just to maybe go over some like start and sit the type of
- 1:01:14guys. I don't know exactly what we're
- 1:01:16going to do next week, but we'll we'll see what happens in Week
- 1:01:192. So yeah, stay tuned for next
- 1:01:22week and what we have in store. And as always, don't forget to
- 1:01:25keep your balls played with. We'll see you next time.
