- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Alright, welcome back to the podcast.
- 0:01SPEAKER_02: And early beloved, we are gathered here today with Gedwards.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: Dad.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: Mom.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: And it is September, which means that is Spooky Lake month.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Oh boy.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Spooky Lakes.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: I hope this is better than Sopification.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Saponification.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: That was a really good one.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: I like that one.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: That should have been in Spooky Lake Month, but I just wasn't thinking about it.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: That was a good one.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Was it?
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Yours must have been good.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Mine wasn't good enough.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: You were on it with me.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: No.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: Saponification?
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: You're mistaken.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: I recorded it with Garrett, and then he was just like not interested, so then I had to re-record it with you.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, right, right, right.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: I really liked it.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I was on the shopping block.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: Well, some days.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: After Jimmy, James, and Randy.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: That's why we have your handlers here today, because we gotta keep them.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: That was a pretty popular school of thought.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 0:58SPEAKER_03: If you can understand the Edwards.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: Dude, I don't know.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'm excited.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: The whole month, so I think so.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: Spooky lakes, spooky lakes.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Not like we go into large bodies of water anyways.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: That's right, we don't, so this'll be okay for me.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: We do in Lake Ness.
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: That's not Pacific.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: Lake Nessie?
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Lake Loch?
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: I don't know what that is.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: The loch is the water.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: That's Loch Ness.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Isn't that Lake Ness?
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Nessie is the thing.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: But the Loch.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Loch Ness Monster is the What Lake is it though?
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: It's a Loch.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: That's what it's called.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: L O Cage.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: It's called the Loch.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: Well, it's called Loch Ness, right?
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sure.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: Where's the Loch Ness monster from?
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: How we're checking that.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: The Loch Ness monster is a mythical creature that allegedly lives in Loch Ness, a large freshwater lake near Inverness, Scotland.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: It's a freshwater lake.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: But it's a loch.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: That's what it's called.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: It's a lake.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, anyways.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Great.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Well, we're not talking about Loch Ness Monster, considering it's nowhere near here.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: So no Loch Ness.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Loch Ness and its monster are not on my list.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Okay, but this is gonna be some other something.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: But there is a lake that does have something similar.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Uh oh.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: The Loch Ness monster.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: That we're not talking about today, because we talked about the ape cat last week.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: Is it so?
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Buck Lake?
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: No, okay.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: But lake.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Butt Lake?
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Nope, it is not.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: But lake and lake.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Formed between six to eight thousand years ago when Mount Mazama imploded.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: This nearly 2,000 foot deep lake and its forested surroundings have no straight shortage of disappearances, mysterious deaths, and other unexplainable happenings dating back hundreds of years.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Crater Lake.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Today we are talking about Crater Lake.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: I knew that.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Wait, that's where Sasquatch was.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Stop.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Crater Lake is better for the city.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: We're not talking about no, I even I even left it out.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: I left it out.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Because everyone knows that.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Garrett's leaving the studio.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: We're talking about no, we're not.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: So located in South Central Oregon in the Cascade Mountain Range is America's deepest lake.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Crater Lake, in addition to being a collapsed volcano, is unique in the fact that it has no rivers flowing into it and is filled solely by annual rain, water, and snow melt.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: The purity of the water results in the vivid blue color that has fascinated scientists, tourists, and locals for centuries.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: It is beautiful.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: That's why we go every month.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Never been there.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: I've been there once.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Never been there.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: See, it's kind of far away.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: It's far away.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: It's like you look at it and you're like, all right.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: It's like five hours or something.
- 3:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: It's far away, but it's also like it's fast and big, and so it and you don't really see it, see it, and you know, to get close to it, you have to like hike.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Drive to it.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's have you been to Crane Lake?
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: No.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: So before settlers and prospectors came to the area, indigenous tribes surrounding the lake in the Kalamath Basin region had numerous tales about the creation of the lake and the dangers the strange, mesmerizing body of water held.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Pristine blue waters were considered to be too sacred for human eyes, and to gaze upon the lake they thought was to risk death and lasting sorrow.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Artifacts buried under Mazama ash layers indicate that the Klamath tribe inhabited the area prior to a volcanic eruption that led to the collapse later on.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Additionally, stories about a long-standing feud between Mount Mazama and Mount Shasta reflect geological dates of the eruption.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: According to an Oregon Explorer blog post, the Klamath legend of the crater lake goes like this.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Wait, feuds between mountains?
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Like Mount Storm King.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's tough.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Such a good name.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: That's the only thing you remember from that episode.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: Okay, but these are all lessons, right?
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: We're learning.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Well, that was from the saponification.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Mount Storm King.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: That's the only part he thinks is cool in the whole episode.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: So the spirits of the earth and sky came and talked with the people often.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: Lao was a spirit of the below world who lived beneath Mount Mazama.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Skel was a spirit of the above world.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: There was no lake then, just a hole which Lao passed through to see the outside world.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: One day Lao saw Loha, a daughter of the Klamath Indian chief, and fell in love with her beauty, but she rejected him.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: He got angry and swore that he would take revenge on her people.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: He tried to destroy the people with the curse of fire, and the Klamath Indian chief sought help from Skill.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: Skill descended from the sky to the top of Mount Shasta.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Skill and La were thundering and trembling the earth, hurling red rocks back and forth to each other, causing great landslides.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: A terrible darkness spread over the area for days.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: All spirits of Earth and Sky took part in this battle, creating intense fear among the people.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: Attempting to calm the ferocious volcano gods and to make up for the sins of the tribe, two medicine men offered to sacrifice themselves and jumped into the pit of the below world.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Impressed by the heroic sacrifice, Skell fought even harder and he finally defeated Lao, driving Lao deep into the below world.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: He then collapsed on top of Mount Mazama to imprison Lao forever beneath the world.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: Skell wanted peace and tranquility to cover up this dark pit, so he filled it with blue water.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Two people jumped in a male's hole.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: So that's that's how they believe that it was created.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: I believe it.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: Crater Lake was accidentally discovered by prospectors in 1853 when, in an attempt to find a legendary gold mine rumored to be in the area, they just stumbled upon it.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: And despite being a sacred area from the Klamath tribes, it became the fifth national park in the US in 1902.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: One of the oldest mysteries surrounding the lake is the old man of the lake.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: The old man of the lake is a 30-foot-tall humlock tree log that has been floating vertically in the lake with four feet sticking up from the surface since at least since at least 1896 when it was first documented.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: However, additional carbon dating reveals the log to be around 450 years old.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: The floating log was odd but not incredibly so until 1988 when the park attempted to move it since it was a constant hazard freely floating across the lake daily.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: So it's just spin it around.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: A submersible brought in to explore the lake bed had researchers tying up the log off of Wizard Island.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: Shortly after, unexplainable storms blew in, with some reports stating that it even started snowing in August when this happened.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: As soon as they untethered the old man, the log, all hazardous weather immediately stopped, adding to the strangeness of this unassuming log, and now the legend that it controls the weather of the lake.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: So it's still there.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: I'm with it.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Put a bag.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Don't touch it.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Put a crow bag.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: Like other national parks we've talked about, Crater Lake is not immune to the mysterious disappearances that qualify for the missing 411 category.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, wasn't there a Crater Lake one when we did the Sasquarks?
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: We talked there was a Sasquatch that has nothing to do with that.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: But we talked about being four four one.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: I guess it's a few.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: Missing people.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: So the first one is Charles McCullough.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: On January 29th, 1975, aspiring photographer, 19 year old Charles McCullough had made had made it to Crater Lake after hitchhiking and taking buses across the country from his home state of Virginia.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: He intended to return to his friend's house in Eugene two days later after capturing the winter landscape.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: January at Crater Lake had no shortage of snow, and five feet of snow had been reported there consistently for the two weeks leading up to his visit.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean it would be the weather would be really bad.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: That's the worst time to worst time in Oregon.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Because of this, it is believed he had potentially diverted from his intent intended route along the North Road.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: A logger later told police he'd given the young man matching McCullough's description a ride within about twenty miles of the park entrance on the morning of January 30th.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: Which is not close.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Twenty miles.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Well, but twenty miles would be where the like where the highway passes.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: I mean, so that's what I'm saying.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: So you gave him a ride out or in?
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: Ride in near there, yeah.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: Probably on yeah, along the highway 97 or wherever whichever highway he was on.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Twenty miles in the snow.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: That's like a long When he didn't show back up at his friend's house in Eugene by February first, he was immediately reported missing.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: Friends and family rejected the idea that he had changed plans without telling anyone, especially in inclement weather, as he had been overly communicative during his cross-country journey in the months leading up to his disappearance.
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: Well overcommunicative.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: The trucker has something to say because he didn't change his plans much.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: He was within 20 miles.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: They also acknowledged that Charles was prepared.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Like he didn't he wasn't wearing flip-flops and a t-shirt.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Over the following weeks, ground searches done by air, snowmobile, and hikers, in addition to interviews with people who had been in the national park or lodge at the time, had no information about his whereabouts or recovered any evidence.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: A letter from the FBI report reveals that because of this lack of evidence or witnesses, his family wanted the FBI involved as it seemed like he was a victim of foul play rather than foul weather.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, a truck driver.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: It could be.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: A detailed summary of the family submitted lays out reasons they believe McCullough didn't simply die of exposure or vanish voluntarily.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: He kept in regular contact with home, had money and uncashed traveler's checks waiting.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: Was an experienced, well-equipped winter hiker, including a sleeping bag and gear that was prepared to be in negative 25 degree weather.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: And extensive ground and air searches over months turned up no trace of no trace of him or his equipment.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Wow, even after the snow melted.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Truck driver.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: They also raise a specific concern because he was reportedly spotted 47 miles from where he left the bus just two and a half hours later, further down from where the hitchhiker dropped him along the route where he should have been.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Dang, he was moving then.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Wait, read that again.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, how was he?
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: He was reportedly spotted 47 miles from where he left the bus just two and a half hours later.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Well, he's certainly not walking.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: So he must have gotten a hitchhike, a longer ride than potentially.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: Because there was no substantial evidence.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: Wait, he said bus.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: You mean truck?
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, where he left the bus.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he took a bus to like Klamath Falls and then hitchhikes.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: And then the hitchhiker.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: Because there was no substantial evidence that a federal crime had occurred, like kidnapping, the FBI couldn't help.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: The FBI's own record confirms it would never actually open an investigation since there was no evidence of a federal offense.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Even if it was technically in a national park.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: On October 18th, 1976, two hikers that had gotten turned around and took a wrong trail near Bybee Creek found weathered camping gear in a backpack.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: When park rangers arrived, they came across the remains of Charles, twelve miles away from the trailhead.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: His jeans were reportedly unbuttoned and the belt had come undone.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: In his pants, investigators found broken off shin bones sticking up.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Investigators also found foot bones in his socks, but most of all most of his skeletal remains seemingly vanished, except for the crown of his skull, which was found twelve feet away.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Charles' camera equipment had disappeared along with a shirt, boots, and coat.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: His pants were found sitting on a log and all of his money was gone.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: Wait, what year did they find him?
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: 1976.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: Oh, the next year.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: So 18 months later they found him.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: But they had done extensive searches.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: He wasn't that far away.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: Twelve miles.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: From the from the from the trailhead, but where they dropped him off was 20 miles from the trailhead, right?
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: With our park entrance.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: So I don't know where the but from a geography perspective.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: Um okay, well, sorry, truck driver.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: Wasn't the truck driver.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: I mean he got his pockets ran, that means and his pants were unbuttoned.
- 13:29SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Well, investigators' theories that the odd state in the of his remains and his clothing could have been from paradoxical undressing, which happens if you're like hypothermic.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: But is money missing?
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: His money missing and his entire upper half missing.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: Sounds like Sasquatch to me.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, that could have been animals, I guess.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, the thing is, it's a long time.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: January, I mean, January, February, March are still extremely cold there, even even into April.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and animals are hungry.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: All the snow.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so who knows when he actually died, but it would have had to probably have been close to when he got there.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: One of the biggest questions is how he managed to travel 12 miles in the snow without snowshoes and multiple feet of s with multiple feet of snow on the ground.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, so he wasn't that prepared if he didn't have snow.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: I yeah, I don't think he was prepared to go off the trail.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: Well, the trail isn't sh isn't isn't like snow shoveled.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I I agree.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's not paved.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: This is like we're talking I mean it snows like five feet a day there.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: So no snowsues.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: So we weren't as prepared.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: In 2016, Stephen McCullough wrote an article on his missing brother, and it he theorizes an interesting conclusion.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: He says, if only those broken off shin bones could have talked to us, what do you think they'd say?
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: I bet they say something like this I hit your eyed of this creepy guy who stole my camera equipment and money and then shot me in the head.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: Then on a clear day in the dead of winter, he hauled my body.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Wait, wait, stop.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Shot me in the head.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Is there evidence that he was shot?
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: No.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: Well there's no There's no hole in it.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Where I thought I thought they found the school.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: Just the front part of it.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: It says front part.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: Then on a clear day in the dead of winter, he hauled my body into the remotest part of Crater Lake, took my shirt and boots off, and set me up on a log and left, figuring animals would destroy the oven in spice spring.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: And hey, I guess it worked because the cops ruled my death to be from natural causes.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: My dad doesn't buy it though.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: That's weird that that would be someone's theory though.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: I mean your theory.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: I truck driver for sure.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Oh man, you've got to be so dumb to think of that.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: Without having all the details, right?
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: That was a lot of detail.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Like shoot me and then dump me, you know, that just that went into a lot of detail.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Well, you could have shot him anywhere.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: I just said truck driver because I, you know, that in the 70s, truck I mean, I'm sorry, but you know, while they they just got kind of got a bad name for not great behavior.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, I mean they travel across the country, they're in a different city every day.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: Like it it makes for it pretty easy.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think yeah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, so where are we at now?
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: So that was it.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: Nothing ever.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: I never found his camera or any other remains of having ever found his camera.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Well then it wouldn't have been animals because they don't care about that kind of stuff.
- 16:33SPEAKER_03: Taking pictures, right?
- 16:34SPEAKER_03: You know, like that advertisement?
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: Commercial.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: So if they don't find anything near there, then no money.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no money.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: No money, no wallets wallet's gone.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: So so someone knows something.
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: Someone in the world knows something, whether they're alive or dead anymore.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: But probably.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: Okay, so that's the first.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: Gosh.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: I don't love that.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's the first.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Well, you're not gonna wait.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: So are we rating this one?
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: You can rate Crater Lake as a whole at the end.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, I see.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: So the next case, because there's two of the missing four-on-one cases.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: On October 14, 2006, eight-year-old Sammy Bolke and his dad, Ken, were walking on a trail off the main room drive.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Are we going there?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: I want fun.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: Fun?
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: You've come to the wrong, wrong podcast for fun.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: I want James, Jimmy, and Randy.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: This is informative.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: This is not a fun episode.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: I gotta settle in.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Alright, just we'll we'll see what happens.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: What was eight-year-old's name?
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: Sammy.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: I got him.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm gonna miss Sammy.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: We're walking on a trail off the main room drive near the Cleatwood Cove area around 4 PM.
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: They were staying in a cabin at the nearby Diamond Lake and had stopped to walk on the trail and play tag before heading back to where they were staying.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: Sammy saw a yellow rock and thought it might be gold, so he ran up the slope off the trail.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: When Ken called him to come back down as he was as it was getting dark, Sammy refused, still looking for gold.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: Ken chased after him, but Sammy thought it was another game and ran away further into the woods.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: What?
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Ken never caught up to him and lost sight of Sammy after he disappeared over another ridge.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: What?
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: Sammy had a mild form of autism and had done this before back at day camps at home, with them having to go as far as calling the fire department to find him.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Subwood Community Center Director Kim Kalamy said he liked to hide.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: So right away, the search force quickly grew to more than 200 people covering covering roughly six square miles or 4,000 acres.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: For a week, teams used dogs, helicopters, and heat sensing cameras, but found no trace of them.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: What conditions at that time of year consisted of rain mixed with snow, which hindered the investigation because it was October.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Yikes.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: The search concluded the following week on October 23rd, 2006, and nothing of Sammy's was ever recovered despite intermittent follow-up searches over the years.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Ever?
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: Okay, come on.
- 19:16SPEAKER_03: He's not that good of a hider.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: You got snatched by a leprechaun.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: That's tough.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: Was quite gold in the ground?
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: How do you lose sight of him in another ridge?
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: I mean Well I think there's more.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: Some people, yeah, people on the internet, this isn't this is just a theory.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: We're questioning why in October you would pull off on the side of the road to play tag with your kid at 4 p.m.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: In October, it's getting dark.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: Well it's cold.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: And I mean they were staying at Diamond Lake, but then go to Crater Lake to play tag.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: That's it's not like it's close by and it's not on the way or Diamond Lake has her, I mean they could do that at Diamond Lake, like So I I mean they never even found anything that just that seems so suspicious.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Tompton's uh suspicious.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Nothing and the dad's the only one that saw the the Sammy run away.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: Well, why wouldn't you keep chasing after him?
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: Well, that's how could you not catch an eight-year-old?
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: Totally why yeah.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: I mean, even if he was like 50 feet 50 feet ahead of you, you can still pick up the pace.
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: You would still know and not oh I can't find him.
- 20:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: That's okay.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: And that's the end of that?
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: Nothing else?
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, regardless of if the cause of these disappearances are mysterious in nature or complete accidents, both of the case both of these cases, like the other ones we've talked about in the past, are just sad at the end of the day.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, wow.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: I mean that's awful.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: Nothing?
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: No updates.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: In 20 years?
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he would be 29 this year.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: How would you not find uh like dad said, a piece of clothing, uh a boot, uh I mean, was he even there?
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: I think I got some split ended.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: What I read said that he was camp there was no mention of the mom being on the camping trip, that it might have just been him and the dad.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that's true.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: If the mom was like back at the cabin or something like that, but back at the cabin at a diamond leg?
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know what this what the entire circumstances were.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Let's go for a drive.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this is sounds uh disturbing.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Okay, and if everything up to this point hasn't spooked you too, at least be wary of the elements.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: Don't worry, because Crater Lake also has a is also home to a litany of UFO sightings.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: Oh there.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: See, I like UFOs more.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: So far so far it hasn't been supernatural.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: It's been like just human nature.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: Well, it could be some I mean, uh seriously, if the little boy did vanish.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Bigfoot has been considered in um the other one though.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: Sammy?
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: No, not Sammy.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: Charles.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: Took him out?
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, maybe.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: What's Bigfoot gotta need for cheddar for?
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: You took his cash.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, because Bigfoot's taking his own pictures, that's why they're blurry.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: He's like his own paparazzi.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, maybe.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: So February 4th, 1997 is the most frequently cited incident where three disc-shaped objects were reportedly seen speeding across the night sky over the lake, accompanied by a loud sonic boom, which was felt across the region that night.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: Some versions of this also add that a military aircraft was seen chasing the objects.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: Okay, because they do have the airport in Klamath Falls, which is a military airport.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: I think it's now been since decommissioned, but it was military.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know if UFOs have sonic booms.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know if that's a thing.
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: But the but the planes chasing them could.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Or it could just be four military planes with three in front and then one behind just making sure the test is okay.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: Disc-shaped objects.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: I'm actually surprised more that the sky would be clear enough because the amount of clouds.
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: It is so stormy and snowy during that time, February 4th.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you'd be able to make out a disc or just a plane shape if they're going the speed of sound.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: Well, how would you you'd have to see it before you heard it, right?
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: Or you hear it before you see it?
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: One of them.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: That's what I thought.
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: Okay, it follows it.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: So it could have been from the planes if they were chasing them.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think the sonic boom could have been from the planes coming out of the airport.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: But wouldn't that be easy to know?
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: Like just see what happened at the airport.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Well, it's a military airport.
- 23:56SPEAKER_03: Well, someone would know.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Not if they were testing UFO technology.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Well, and also it's not that far away from like Area 51.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: So if you're I mean, that's pretty far away.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: It's not close.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, not if you're talking about, you know, faster than the speed of sound.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: Like, how long is that gonna take?
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: You're talking about planets, like wasn't Area 51 just the B-2 bomber?
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Isn't it like a confirmed thing?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty sure that's confirmed.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: There's anything confirmed about Area 51.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Well, we know it's all the speculation.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: No, we know it's like an experimental aircraft technology site.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: And they do tests and stuff.
- 24:39SPEAKER_03: Okay, so what do we know about this?
- 24:41SPEAKER_03: That's all.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: I don't know if they're doing it.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Just one sentence, period.
- 24:45unknown: Yeah.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: You were just banking on me, like just perking up and in 2017.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: A cylindrical slash missile shaped object allegedly hovered over the lake before it just completely vanished.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: The tic-tac is a thing.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: Vanished, but tic-tac is a thing.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Like in the water or just no.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: It was in the air and then just gone.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Didn't go any direction.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: It was just gone.
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: I don't have details.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: All I have is it vanished.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Look up tic-tac UFO.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: You'll find something interesting.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: That's a thing.
- 25:19SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, 2017, we were I was going to Klamath Walls at that time quite a bit.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: It's dark.
- 25:26SPEAKER_03: It's, I mean, it's definitely des you know desolate.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: The cla the crater lake area.
- 25:32SPEAKER_03: I mean, is out in the middle of nowhere?
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: Nowhere.
- 25:36SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 25:38SPEAKER_03: Carrot's looking up tic-tac UFOs.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Tic-tac UFO incidents from uh 2004.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that could be a thing.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: And this was 2017.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Well, okay, first of all, it doesn't say Tic Tac.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: No, I know.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: It says cylindrical or missile shape.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: It's just called the Tic Tac.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: It's uh some US like aircraft carrier encountered a smooth, wingless white object shaped like a breath mint.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: How could that even fly?
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Breath mint.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Like how is it have any control over breath?
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: That's why it's uh that's why it's an unidentified final.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: Unidentified flannel.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: They don't know how it's like, yeah, they don't know the propulsion.
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: But we do know that those uh what we've heard, at least allegedly, is that the UFOs there is something about the water, right?
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: There are things that that have to do with the water.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Visitors often report strange lights appearing or disappearing over the water, sometimes described as objects emerging from or diving into the lake itself.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that's what we And it's really deep, right?
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: The UFO, yeah.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: 2,000 feet deep.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the UFOs.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, the Some believe that there's a base under the under the water.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: I didn't dive too deep into that.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: That'd be cool.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, we got Atlantis.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: No, but that's been reported off the coast of California and stuff where they people Oh where UFOs go into the water.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: The sex tag's off the coast of California.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Oh well, so Klamath Falls.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's pretty close.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's another body of water, another deep body of water.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: From from a deep perspective.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: I'm saying it's just a deep body of water.
- 27:12SPEAKER_02: Very strange.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: Well, and because Crater Lake is considered like a portal to hell or whatever.
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: Jeez.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: Wait, what?
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: Now you say it like that.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean it's like it's like a deeper melt hole.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: They believe that that's where like the the the underworld was and whatnot.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: I said that at the beginning at the beginning.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: We're gonna go find Agamemnon.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: See what's gonna be something as a foot at Crater Lake.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: So I'm back to the tree.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: No, because I think actually the tree is old man.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: The old man is really the creepiest part to me.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: Is because the way the lake was formed, there's probably some you know, geological phenomena or something where this tree could be floating slash poking out of the water.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: It is weird.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, wasn't it uh an asteroid or something?
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Or was it a volcano?
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: No, it was a volcano.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: So I just I think that's probably different.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: Um that to me is creepy.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: It is kind of creepy.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: Well, life's not the only one.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: It's an ear.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: And why hasn't it decomposed by now?
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: Well, probably because the cold water preserved it.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I um feel like it is kind of creepy, quiet place.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, like I said, it's in the middle of nowhere, so Okay, well that's Crater Lake.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: And I didn't put Bigfoot on here because we knew Garrett would leave the room.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: Well, and we've already read stories about Bigfoot being a Crater Lake and multiple people if you go to the Bigfoot research organization website, there's a ton of reported sightings on there.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, very interesting.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm concerned about the dead body and the missing kid.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: And there's probab you know, those probably aren't the only stories.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: Those are probably just the ones that right, like like came to light.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: Well those are the ones that are just unsolved.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: Strange, yeah.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Strange circumstances and the boy, I I actually feel really bad.
- 29:36unknown: Yeah.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean that sucks.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: For both a 19-year-old and an eight-year-old.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, for yeah, for both.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: I think the parents, that's probably tough for them.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: But yeah, Crater Lake is creepy.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: And so from a creepy score, I'll give it well, I mean, I am not I mean, it's pretty and during the day it looks great.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Nice backdrop for a picture.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: Um beyond that, I'll look at you in pictures.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: So I'll give it a creepy of like wintertime creepy, eight out of ten.
- 30:18SPEAKER_03: Summertime creepy, it doesn't feel as creepy because you know it's nice and it looks pretty.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: So maybe four out of ten.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: So you have a wintertime and summertime creepy?
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because that's pretty fair.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's totally different.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because it is really like desolate, snowy, dark, you know.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: I mean, there's no clouds.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's it you would feel very isolated winter time.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: And if we you know, I was there in college, Diamond Lake during the winter, and it's like it's it's fairly isolated.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, so are we doing believability to also?
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: No, because I mean the stories are okay, yeah, let's do it.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, that's why I before we went to the next one, I would brought that up.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: It's like Do you believe that there's UFOs there?
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Well, I get I mean we may as well do, like I said, I think we should do believability because I think Do you believe UFOs are there?
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: What are we doing?
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: Do we believe that Sammy's dad just left him out there?
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: I know I just said, do you believe the UFOs are there?
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: That that Bigfoot exists around there.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Two very different things.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Talk about your flying tic-tac.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: Do I okay?
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: Let's so let's skip the the stories about the missing 401 and let's just go with the believability of the UFOs.
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: For me, no.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: And I'll give it a You're the one who brought up the underwater stuff, and now you're saying you don't believe it?
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: I know, but I just she's heard practically speaking.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: If something is traveling that fast, how how would you be like, oh, that looks like a UFO?
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: No, you wouldn't.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: And you didn't take a picture?
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: What year was it?
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: 2017?
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: Mm-mm.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: No, that one was you know it's funny you bring that up.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: Madeline was gonna take a picture of Remy Kins today and wasn't able to get to the camera on time.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Okay, 1997.
- 32:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, 1997.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: I thought it was 2017.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was the Tic Tac 2017.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Oh tic-tac disappearing.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, the tic-tac, okay, fine.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: Let's I'll go with the tic-tac.
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: 1997, you might not have your camera because what would you have had a Polaroid?
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: Probably didn't have to be.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: They would have had their Polaroid in their car.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: 2017, the Tic Tac over the water.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: If someone disappears, what you turn around, you turn around to grab your phone.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's gone.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: You grab your phone, you mean your phone needs in your hand?
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Why would it be in your hand?
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: Different time.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: You're enjoying the scenery.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: You're not at a concert just videoing the whole thing.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Some bum.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: And one person reported it.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: How many people reported the sighting?
- 32:51SPEAKER_03: And were there comments?
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: Can you find comments?
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: Other people.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: How can you give your score while I look this up?
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: Well, my score is dependent upon knowing was it corroborated?
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: Or one person's account?
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: No.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: I'm going with uh I don't believe it.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: I mean, like I I said, I know allegedly that that's how it's you know supposed to work, or that's how people said putting it in proof.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: No, no photos, nope.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Uh you have one person saying it and not, you know, a hundred and yeah.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's you had a hundred people saying that the satanic stuff was real.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: You don't believe them?
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Satanic panic?
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: Well towns.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: Satanic panic.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: Doesn't matter if there's one or a hundred people that can give it.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: So this says the Crater Lake Institute says the male tribune codes a Medford pilot who was reported seeing three strange lights near Crater Lake.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: The pilot was flying a small plane from Ben to Medford, which when he spotted the UFOs.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: He also said he saw several military jets pursuing the strange lights.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: A loud sonic sonic boom rattled the windows and set off car alarms up and down western Oregon the evening of the fourth.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: Was it a meteor or an explosion, sonic boom or a visitor from another world?
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: Okay, so there was a lot of people.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: It affected lots.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: And that has a lot of facts for me, honestly.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: So you And we know how he saw it because he was above the clouds as a pilot.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: You did not disclose that before, but that has a big because I've been in those planes first from going to Klamath Falls.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: And that that makes way more sense because that's the route they would have traveled.
- 34:28SPEAKER_03: That makes perfect sense that he could have seen that.
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: And a pilot has a believability factor for me pretty high.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: Because you're these are people you might trust with your life to fly you around.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: And this pilot isn't like chasing those lights.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: He was just on a flight path.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: From Ben to exactly, yeah, that's what crack the propeller.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: And it would have been cool flying past him.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: Or yeah, he would have seen it.
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_03: So okay, let me change my score.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: Believability of the potential well, no, not potential, unidentified flying objects is um, I'll believe it.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: Eight out of ten.
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: Change my answer.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: Thanks, Mr.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: Pilot, for the details.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: Because that actually adds tons of credibility.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: Okay, for me, scary factor creepy.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Any of this creepy factor, uh zero.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: Uh believability also zero.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: There's no proof.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: There's still just one pilot saying he saw this.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: Okay, let's let's drop that off of Crater Lake this winter.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: Dad's going to Crater Lake.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, January, we're dropping him off with no gear.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: That'd be fine.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: I'll just take my snowboard and yeah, he's he's chilling.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: Okay, Garrett, what about you?
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Not scary at all.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I get this guy in the water.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: I want to see him swim out to the middle of the lake.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: Go touch the old man.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: It's cold.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't be swimming in the water or any.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: I don't think you can swim in the water.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: Go climb on the old guy.
- 36:02unknown: Yeah, no.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: Creepy.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: There's a solid.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: Seven out of ten.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: I need be with me.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: It's a body of water.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: It's already creepy, regardless.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Garrett and I aren't going.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: If it's clear and I can't see the bottom, no, thank you.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: If it's clear and I can see the bottom, even worse.
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: And you know what fish are in there?
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: Sturgeon.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: You know the big ugly fish that look really creepy.
- 36:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, let's go fishing.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: In that lake?
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: Normally in the river.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: Let's go fish in Columbia.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: Because there's no rivers that go into it, so I don't think they're in there.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think there's.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: Are there sturgeon in Crater Lake?
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: Because someone would have had to have put them there.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: You're right.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: It does say that it's limited to fish or trout.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: Fish, including trout and salmon, that have been only introduced by humans.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: Salmon in there?
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: That's weird too.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: Because they're like ocean.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, regardless.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: Um winter, yeah.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: Nine out of ten.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: No survival skills ever here.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: I'm dying.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm done.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're yeah.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: You're not making it fight.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: Well, plus with your with your rain odds, you'd your little feet, your little feet would freeze and your hands would freeze.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: Non-issue.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: Believability of the UFOs.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: I'll give it a two out of ten.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: That's it?
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: A two.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: I don't believe I don't believe the pilot thing.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, a pilot pilot's used to smoke all the time.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Smoking's not good for you.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: It's like nine out of ten dentists that recommend this toothpaste.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: No thanks.
- 37:28SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: I don't believe in pilots like that.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: Seriously, the sun, the sun reflecting off the I don't believe in pilots.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: Glass of the windshield.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, no, no, no.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: It's not even that.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: I'm sure it's at night, and he was like, I mean, if you can see lights on the plane and they're chasing them.
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: What about the missile shaped, the pill, your little tic-tac?
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Tic-tac.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll bump it up to like a four out of ten, yeah.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: Wait, does the tic-tac fly like this or like this?
- 37:54SPEAKER_03: Like this?
- 37:55SPEAKER_03: Uh uh straight straight up and down, like a pill.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: Like a pill like nah, and the video is like spinning.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's even weirder.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Nah, it wasn't.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was just straight.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't I don't know about the whole Atlantis thing, though.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure they're coming out of the water or anything like that.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, they could be.
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: That's not unsolved mysteries.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: You know, they I think that's one of the episodes.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, those are the bums that come back to the pyramids like every two episodes.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: The aliens built the pyramids.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: Not really with all that.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: But yeah, just because you said you trust pilots, I don't.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: So drop drop my score.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: I would have been eight out of ten.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: All of a sudden, a pilot's saying it.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: I remember that bum who was up on some mountain and like lied and said there was aliens.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, compare it with uh flying, yeah.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: But yeah, pretty believable.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: Did you have a number?
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, four out of ten.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 38:47SPEAKER_02: But then your scary is now seven out of ten instead of eight out of ten.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: No, he didn't change it.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, I thought he said he was bumping it down.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: The summertime was a seven, the winter time is like a nine or a ten.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: Just like my chances of survival.
- 39:03SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 39:04unknown: Yeah.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Decrease drastically.
- 39:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: 90%.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, 95, 98.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: I mean, I still I I just do still feel bad for the missing 401.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: So you know, if any anyone listen is someone knows something about both cases.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: Well, the dad definitely knows something about the one.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: And someone knows something about what happened to that other boy.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: Potentially.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: Allegedly, you know, I'm ordering you a shirt that says allegedly across the I don't want to get sued.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: I'm not trying to.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: I don't have money like that.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: Can't take me to court.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: So yeah, great.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: I can't wait to another.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: Is it water or just lakes?
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: Or spooky lakes.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: Okay, so not like rivers.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Okay, so lakes.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Man, my creepiness this whole month is gonna be pretty high then.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Me too.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm a little bit worried.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: Lots of spooky lakes.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: I feel like lakes.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're gonna need that might need therapy.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say I might need a therapist.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Might need a therapist to sit in with us.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: I think you need to unpack.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: All right, something to look forward to.

- 40:44SPEAKER_02: You kinda want no last week.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: You kind of got off the rails a little bit at the end.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: At the end.
