- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, Uh huh, I sure will come on to
- 0:05Speaker 1: everybody y'all listening to the voice, Come on, dig me now.
- 0:09Speaker 1: One and old is Steve Harvey. Uh huh? Got a
- 0:12Speaker 1: radio show? Yeah, man, what a blessing it is. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: can't even explain my whole life. My whole life is
- 0:17Speaker 1: a blessing. It really is, in spite of all the
- 0:20Speaker 1: things that's happened, contraa to having the appearances of a blessing.
- 0:24Speaker 1: As I look back on my life today, it all
- 0:27Speaker 1: happened for a reason. It all came together, it tied together,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and you know it's important. Man. I think a lot
- 0:33Speaker 1: of people that asked me about my success and how
- 0:36Speaker 1: I got here and how do I attribute in what
- 0:39Speaker 1: was the steps? I want to tell you what it is. Now.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Listen to me before I get started. Please understand that
- 0:44Speaker 1: everything that I tell you is faith based. Everything that
- 0:47Speaker 1: I tell you is faith based. You can double check it.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You can go behind me. Whatever your faith is. If
- 0:52Speaker 1: you go back into the writings and your faith, it's
- 0:55Speaker 1: in there. It's in there. Now. I'm not telling you
- 0:57Speaker 1: anything new. I'm not giving you a new angle may
- 1:00Speaker 1: give you a different way of is saying it. You know,
- 1:02Speaker 1: maybe hearing it back to yourself. But in essence, man,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I really do know that I'm not going to say
- 1:07Speaker 1: anything that you may not have heard, but I phrased
- 1:09Speaker 1: it in a different kind of way. And so this
- 1:13Speaker 1: series this week, I want to talk to you about
- 1:15Speaker 1: how to make it kind of a motivational series. And
- 1:18Speaker 1: the first part, the most important component of it in
- 1:22Speaker 1: accomplishing what you want in your life is you have
- 1:25Speaker 1: to identify the dream. This is the critical step. A
- 1:30Speaker 1: lot of people spend their life squandering and wandering around
- 1:34Speaker 1: because they never identify the dream. You have to identify
- 1:38Speaker 1: the dream. You have to identify what it is that
- 1:41Speaker 1: you want, what it is that you hope for. You
- 1:44Speaker 1: have to have a goal in mind. You have to
- 1:48Speaker 1: have a destination, you know. And when you go outside
- 1:50Speaker 1: and put the key in your car, you never go
- 1:52Speaker 1: and put your key in the car and just get
- 1:54Speaker 1: it in and just drive, you know, unless you're trying
- 1:56Speaker 1: to clear your head or something. But if you talk
- 1:58Speaker 1: about going somewhere, you got to have a destination. You
- 2:02Speaker 1: gotta have somewhere you want to go, or else you're
- 2:04Speaker 1: just running around, you burning gas where you're going Now,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I don't know, left here, right here, go here, go there.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You know you must identify the dream. The dream is
- 2:14Speaker 1: the single most important part of the component to making
- 2:17Speaker 1: the success out yourself. God can't bless what you don't have.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You can't get what you never give. Identify the dream.
- 2:24Speaker 1: What is it that burns inside you so it keeps
- 2:27Speaker 1: you awake at night? What is it, man that makes
- 2:29Speaker 1: you smile when you think about it? What is it,
- 2:32Speaker 1: man that you can't seem to quite shape? Okay, so
- 2:36Speaker 1: you go to college, right, you make a decision, which
- 2:38Speaker 1: I disagree with you asking eighteen to a twenty one
- 2:41Speaker 1: year old to make a decision or what he wants
- 2:43Speaker 1: to do and what he wants to be with the
- 2:44Speaker 1: rest of his life. That's tough because guess what, this
- 2:47Speaker 1: young person doesn't really know himself or herself yet. So
- 2:51Speaker 1: you're asking them to identify what it is at an
- 2:53Speaker 1: early age. What consequentially happens is that people get older
- 2:58Speaker 1: and they wind up doing something else. So you get
- 3:00Speaker 1: a degree and you find out what your passion is
- 3:02Speaker 1: with something else. See, identifying that dream as early as
- 3:05Speaker 1: you can is important. Now, whether you're young, or whether
- 3:08Speaker 1: you're or whatever, your whatever, your identity of the dream
- 3:12Speaker 1: is that's first. Now, what you have to do then
- 3:15Speaker 1: is if I were you. Here is the part that
- 3:19Speaker 1: people never seem to weld together with that dream, that
- 3:22Speaker 1: I want to be an astronaut, I want to be
- 3:24Speaker 1: a doctor, I want to be a club on, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: want to be a a DJ, I want to be
- 3:29Speaker 1: a ball player, I want to be a writer, I
- 3:31Speaker 1: want to be a whatever it is, it doesn't matter.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Somebody is that already, and somebody had it as a dream,
- 3:37Speaker 1: So it's no dream too big. Okay, Once you identify
- 3:40Speaker 1: the dream, here's the thing. The best way for that
- 3:43Speaker 1: to happen is that dream should be tied directly to
- 3:48Speaker 1: your God given gift or talent. See that's the part
- 3:52Speaker 1: that people miss. You see Halle Berry on TV, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: you want to have on one of the dresses on
- 3:57Speaker 1: the red carpet, and you want to stand there and
- 3:59Speaker 1: get the award, and you want to have the same
- 4:00Speaker 1: people had to do your hair to do Halle and
- 4:03Speaker 1: who do Beyonce? He all that's good, All that's good, man,
- 4:06Speaker 1: But do you have the talent or the gift to
- 4:09Speaker 1: accomplish that? See, don't get outside your scope. I wanted
- 4:13Speaker 1: to play in the NBA when I was eight years old.
- 4:15Speaker 1: But something happened along the way. I didn't have skill set.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I discovered that when I ran as fast as I could,
- 4:22Speaker 1: the basketball was never with me. Man, that's an important
- 4:25Speaker 1: part of all. You know. I could jump, but I
- 4:28Speaker 1: normally didn't have a basketball. So now see that that
- 4:32Speaker 1: passion and that dream of being in the NBA was
- 4:35Speaker 1: not tied to my gift. My gift was when I
- 4:39Speaker 1: was sitting there watching them play basketball. I was the
- 4:42Speaker 1: little dude leaning against the fence that had a comment
- 4:46Speaker 1: about everything everybody did. That was it. I was the commentator,
- 4:52Speaker 1: the color commentator, and lord I was funny. It was
- 4:57Speaker 1: one of the few times I didn't stutter when I
- 4:59Speaker 1: was leaning. I gets the fish talking trash. But if
- 5:01Speaker 1: you took me to school, you took me to church,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you took me in front of somebody, you sent me
- 5:05Speaker 1: to the store. Man, that stuttering just came over the
- 5:08Speaker 1: top of me. I couldn't do it. I remember the
- 5:09Speaker 1: first time I told somebody my dream is to be
- 5:11Speaker 1: on TV. Man, they laughed at me so hard that
- 5:14Speaker 1: they laughed me out the gym because I had a
- 5:17Speaker 1: stuttering problem. So that caused me never to tell it again.
- 5:20Speaker 1: The best way to accomplish your dream is you got
- 5:23Speaker 1: to tie it to your gift, to the talent that
- 5:25Speaker 1: God has given you. You can't overlook that. See God
- 5:28Speaker 1: never created a person without giving them a talent or
- 5:30Speaker 1: a gift. You have something that you do, and the
- 5:33Speaker 1: way to identify that is very simple. It is the
- 5:35Speaker 1: thing that you do the absolute best with the least
- 5:37Speaker 1: amount of effort. What is that that you do that's
- 5:40Speaker 1: better than you do anything else with the least amount
- 5:43Speaker 1: of effort. You do this it's almost You can draw
- 5:46Speaker 1: without you can write, you can sing. You know how
- 5:49Speaker 1: to pull stuff apart and put it back together. You
- 5:51Speaker 1: know how to connect the dots and cross t's, and
- 5:55Speaker 1: you know how to organize things and put people together.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You know how to network. You know how to shoot
- 6:01Speaker 1: videos better than anybody. You know how to calm people down.
- 6:04Speaker 1: When it's a conflict. That your school is something, they
- 6:07Speaker 1: come to you, all your friends come to you. They problem.
- 6:09Speaker 1: There's a gift and the talent. You have to identify
- 6:12Speaker 1: what that is. Now, if you take that gift and
- 6:14Speaker 1: talent that you are born with and you marry it
- 6:17Speaker 1: into your dream, you put those two in the dream.
- 6:21Speaker 1: That's the number one thing. And here's a deal. You
- 6:24Speaker 1: can never give up on the dream. I don't care
- 6:30Speaker 1: how old you are. There's a scripture that says a
- 6:35Speaker 1: man without a dream or a vision shall perish. Think
- 6:38Speaker 1: about this. If you've given up on your dream, don't
- 6:41Speaker 1: it feel like you're going nowhere? You have a wake
- 6:44Speaker 1: up in the morning and just go, Man, this can't
- 6:46Speaker 1: be all to it. It's got to be more to
- 6:48Speaker 1: it than this. That's that seed, that dream, that talent,
- 6:53Speaker 1: that gift that's in you, that needs watering and nurturing
- 6:56Speaker 1: and fertilize it to come out and grow. But you
- 6:59Speaker 1: got to identify. Man. Come on, and you can't give
- 7:02Speaker 1: up on your dream because now you got just the
- 7:04Speaker 1: job that's helping you pay these bills. And now you
- 7:07Speaker 1: locked into the system where paying the bills is so
- 7:09Speaker 1: critical and living expenses on top of you that you
- 7:11Speaker 1: got to keep going to this job. So now you
- 7:13Speaker 1: give up on your dreams. That ain't how this thing work. Man.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You can't ever give up on the dream. It's gonna
- 7:20Speaker 1: be a sacrifice to do that. To follow your dream,
- 7:23Speaker 1: You're gonna have to let something go that's the scary part.
- 7:26Speaker 1: That's the part where people don't want to let go
- 7:28Speaker 1: of the peanut to get the fruit. So you hang
- 7:31Speaker 1: on to your peanut. Now, the fruit out there, it's melons, grapes, bananas, pineapples,
- 7:36Speaker 1: it's out fruit is out there, But you're so busy
- 7:39Speaker 1: hanging on to this peanut, that job that has got
- 7:42Speaker 1: you locked in, and you can't go out there and
- 7:44Speaker 1: enjoy the fruits of your life. You have to make
- 7:46Speaker 1: a decision. But decision is based on your dream and
- 7:48Speaker 1: your gift. If you tie those two together, why not
- 7:51Speaker 1: take a shot at it. I mean, what you're waiting on.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Everything I tell you is faith based, so remember that too.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Now you got to take your faith along. But it
- 7:58Speaker 1: starts with the dream. You're listening to the Steve Harvey
