- 0:00Hey, welcome back to She Speaks Life.
- 0:02This is the very first episode of 2026 and I'm so thrilled to
- 0:08be back with you all. I have some exciting episodes
- 0:12planned for the new year and I can't wait to share them with
- 0:15you. Today's episode is super
- 0:18special. It's one that I wish I could be
- 0:22encouraged with every time I begin a fresh year.
- 0:26You know, the kids are back to school, everyone is getting back
- 0:31into their routines. And I don't know about you, but
- 0:35I want this year to be the year that I went further than the
- 0:40last year. And So what I mean by this is,
- 0:44have you ever started a year on fire for God?
- 0:48Full of vision, full of faith, full of the dreams and and just
- 0:53ambition and goals, only to find yourself exhausted, discouraged,
- 0:59and wondering by mid year what happened to my fire?
- 1:05So today we're not talking about hype.
- 1:08We're talking about how to really carry a fire that
- 1:12actually lasts. So I titled this episode
- 1:17Enthusiasm That Endures, staying Fervent, Bold, and victorious by
- 1:22the Holy Spirit for your 2026. Because let's face it, how many
- 1:28of us are such good starters? Like a runner at the starting
- 1:32line when they hear a gun go off our horn to start sprinting and
- 1:39they are going and going. And then we start to get a
- 1:42little fatigue, right? We struggle with the finishing
- 1:46part. And so I know I've fallen in
- 1:49this category. And how many of us have actually
- 1:53stepped into the new year with that excitement and that vision,
- 1:57anticipation, right? We've all been there where we
- 2:02get stirred, we're motivated and hopeful.
- 2:05But in a few days, a weeks or months, the excitement starts to
- 2:11fade. Challenges in life arise, and
- 2:14the results may not come as quickly as we expected.
- 2:19So you may have seen this pattern before.
- 2:21You get this, the fire in January, fatigue by March.
- 2:27And then you get discouraged by summer and by summer or earlier.
- 2:31You've lost that momentum. And then you tell yourself,
- 2:35maybe I should try something else.
- 2:37Maybe it's not meant to be or you're questioning yourself if
- 2:41God even put that in your heart. We've all been there from time
- 2:46to time and then it keeps us in the cycle of always starting and
- 2:52never finishing. So what I want for us by the
- 2:56time you are done with this episode that you will take these
- 3:00Nuggets of truth and it will carry you strong in your spirit
- 3:05to accomplish those assignments. Accomplish those goals and
- 3:10dreams and visions, those desires that God has placed in
- 3:14your heart. Because I believe that there are
- 3:18several reasons we putter out, and the big one is that we are
- 3:24responding with motivation instead of enthusiasm.
- 3:31And let me explain with that. Motivation is fleeting.
- 3:35It responds with emotion or feelings.
- 3:38Motivation in itself is not bad. We need that motivation.
- 3:42We need that starter motivation art.
- 3:44They're great starters, but not great finishers.
- 3:49Rather, enthusiasm responds in the Holy Spirit.
- 3:53I believe God is not looking for us to just be temporarily
- 3:57excited about something, right? To do what He's called us to do.
- 4:01But He's called us into this enthusiasm, a fire that is not
- 4:07fueled by emotions, but by the Holy Spirit.
- 4:11Let me read you a verse that explains this.
- 4:14In Romans 12/11 in the King New King James version, it says not
- 4:20lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord, that
- 4:25fervent means to be hot in spirit.
- 4:29It's a holy fire to serve the Lord.
- 4:32Another version in the Amplified, which is my favorite
- 4:36version, it says never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor.
- 4:41Be aglow and burning with the Spirit serving the Lord.
- 4:47Now that aglow means intense enthusiasm.
- 4:52It means you're so hot for the Lord that you're boiling over.
- 4:56Have you put a pot of water on the stove and it gets so hot it
- 5:01starts to boil over? This is that fervent, hot, holy
- 5:07fire. So this is God's design for us,
- 5:11not just for the beginning of the year, but throughout the
- 5:14year for ages to come. So first I wanted to breakdown
- 5:20what enthusiasm means because it's actually a one that is got
- 5:27God in it. It has God in the word
- 5:30enthusiasm for one. God gave this word to me for the
- 5:35year. And if you don't have yours yet,
- 5:38this is a perfect time to seek Him and ask Him, because
- 5:42whenever where we ask, we can expect an answer from the Lord.
- 5:46I'd love for you to share your word for the year as well.
- 5:50So I if you know me by now, I'm this Greek word geek.
- 5:56I like to break down words that the Lord highlights to me.
- 5:59So let's break down the word enthusiasm.
- 6:03It comes from the Greek word enthusiasm, which comes from NEN
- 6:10and theos, THEOS meaning in God. Theos means God in means in.
- 6:19So if you break down the root, it's, it's actually got in God
- 6:24or God within. There's also other versions of
- 6:27full of God, God inspired. The bottom line.
- 6:32This enthusiasm means that we're full of God.
- 6:35We're full of the Spirit of God within us to actively engage, to
- 6:40walk boldly obedience in our faith and in our purpose.
- 6:45The ASM is sustained by the Holy Spirit, not by human strength.
- 6:50And I love this favorite verse of mine, Zechariah 46 and it
- 6:55says not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord
- 7:01of hosts. This was written during the
- 7:03period when the Temple was being real rebuilt, a time of immense
- 7:08discouragement and opposition, when the Jewish people were
- 7:13returning to Jerusalem and so Zechariah and Haggai.
- 7:17They were prophesying to encourage leaders like
- 7:20Zerubbabel and Joshua to complete the Temple project,
- 7:24emphasizing it would be accomplished by God's Spirit,
- 7:28not human might. This was a word to remind us
- 7:34today that it is by His Spirit, not our own human power or
- 7:40might, but by His powerful Spirit that we can do what He
- 7:44has called us to do. So how do we keep fostering this
- 7:50enthusiasm? By the power of the Holy Spirit.
- 7:54Because the truth is, God has us do our part.
- 7:58We are required to do our part, right?
- 8:01We need to know how to keep stocking that fire of the Holy
- 8:05Spirit, keeping it fervently hot a glowing in US.
- 8:09And He does the rest. So I'm going to give us these
- 8:13four points on how to keep this enthusiasm going throughout the
- 8:17year to accomplish those things that God has placed in our
- 8:21hearts. So with the foundation of all of
- 8:26this, before I give the four points, I want to lay out the
- 8:29foundation because if we're not doing this, then we're not going
- 8:33to get far at all. And this is something we need to
- 8:37be doing every single day. And that's, you guessed it,
- 8:41daily study of our Bible. Apply the Word of God to our
- 8:45lives. In fact, Jesus said in Matthew,
- 8:48we shall not live on bread alone.
- 8:50Meaning we don't live on just physical bread, but by every
- 8:55word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- 8:58In order to live, we need spiritual nourishment.
- 9:01We need God's word daily, right? It's like oxygen to our bodies
- 9:07because we need to know what His word says.
- 9:11We need to have it dwelling in us.
- 9:13We need to know what his his word says.
- 9:16Because that's his will. That's his plan for our lives
- 9:20and it has to be done by taking action in it the the, the word.
- 9:27We got to put it into action. So James 122 says, but don't
- 9:32just listen to God's word. Don't just read it and listen.
- 9:35You must do what it says actively listen right.
- 9:39Do it. Otherwise, it says you are only
- 9:42fooling yourselves. In other words, you're just like
- 9:45pretend play. There's plenty of people that
- 9:49read their Bible, but the transformation isn't there.
- 9:52The revelation isn't there, the fruit is not there, right.
- 9:56So in Scripture it says faith without works is dead.
- 10:01Faith is demonstrated through action, not just a belief
- 10:06system, but but demonstrating it, implying the word of God in
- 10:12our lives and actually doing it. So this comes into my first
- 10:19point that I want to build on. So we've got our foundation.
- 10:23So the next thing that we build on that foundation, it's super
- 10:27important and #1 is our words we speak and thoughts.
- 10:33Yes, this podcast is called She Speaks Life because I believe
- 10:39that this is life transformation right here because words are
- 10:44like seeds. We either plant faith or fear
- 10:48life or death. Words aren't just sounds, but
- 10:52they shape our reality. Words are spiritual.
- 10:56They do not go away when we speak.
- 10:58They go out forth. They go forth and they create.
- 11:02God spoke, let it be in Genesis, and there is creation.
- 11:06We are created in His image and we have the authority through
- 11:10Jesus Christ to use our words to create.
- 11:13He designed us to create and that there is power in our
- 11:18tongue, says Proverbs 1821, says death and life are in the power
- 11:23of the tongue. It's in the power of the tongue.
- 11:29Not the tongue itself, but the power that we give in the
- 11:34tongue. So we can either build or tear
- 11:37down. We can either release faith or
- 11:40fear. We can either release the power,
- 11:43blessing or cursing Speak life. We will literally start to see
- 11:49life. Speak defeat.
- 11:51We will literally start to see defeat in our lives.
- 11:55I saw this in my own life when the words that I loud and coming
- 12:01out of my mouth when I was raising kids, I didn't allow my
- 12:06mouth to talk negatively about toddlerhood or teenage years.
- 12:11People around me would say these things like oh watch out for the
- 12:15toddler years, oh watch out teen years.
- 12:17Absolutely horrific. And I decided at that time that
- 12:22I wasn't going to receive that and I was going to call it out.
- 12:26What I would like, I would love to actually enjoy every stage of
- 12:32life. Are every stage of life perfect?
- 12:34No, there's no such thing, right?
- 12:37But when we start to speak life words, that's what we're going
- 12:42to expect. That's the stage that we set.
- 12:45And so when I was looking at those people that would say
- 12:49negative things about their kids, they ended up having a
- 12:53miserable time in the stages with their kids.
- 12:57And me, I enjoyed every stage because I went in expecting it
- 13:03and then receiving that because what I was confessing out of my
- 13:07mouth was shaping my experience. You know, negativity, it's
- 13:12absolutely poison to our hearts. And unfortunately, I grew up
- 13:17around a lot of negativity. It felt normal to enter your
- 13:21dialogue, to say complain, what's wrong, You know this and
- 13:26that. I had to change this pattern.
- 13:30And so it wasn't common to to watch the words and thoughts.
- 13:35I didn't grow up with that. I had to learn in scripture
- 13:39about it and practice it out that words are powerful, the
- 13:44powers in our tongue. And until the words of life
- 13:47became my norm, right. And then the negativity felt
- 13:52wrong, felt not right. Thoughts can move from our minds
- 13:58to our hearts. It's very important as as much
- 14:03as we speak out, it's as much of importance of what are our
- 14:08thoughts doing right? Because if we allow our thoughts
- 14:11to, to sink down, take that, you know, elevator from our mind to
- 14:16our hearts, it gets planted in the soil of our hearts.
- 14:21I, I picture our heart as a pot, right?
- 14:23And we can grow this beautiful tree or this beautiful harvest.
- 14:27What we harvest is what we will eventually see.
- 14:32So we got to make sure that our thoughts, our words are aligned
- 14:36with what God's Word says. Philippians 48 Paul says it
- 14:41perfectly here on what we should be thinking.
- 14:44He says finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is
- 14:48honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is
- 14:52lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if
- 14:57there's anything worthy of praise.
- 14:59Think about these things. Paul is telling the believers,
- 15:03you know what? You can control your thought
- 15:05life, directing it toward good, uplifting, and godly things.
- 15:10When our minds are directed on Christ, our actions will follow.
- 15:17This, I believe, is why the enemy attacks our thought life
- 15:20so much, because what we believe effects our actions.
- 15:24If we believe the lies, our life will reflect those lies.
- 15:29It's important to reject the lies so they do not become a
- 15:33reality. And thank you Jesus, that He
- 15:37gives us all that we need, all authority and truth and spirit
- 15:41to dispel those lies and not give it a welcome mat.
- 15:46Remembering whatever we speak gives life to our thoughts.
- 15:50Speak fear and doubt. That's what will grow.
- 15:53Speak faith. Faith will grow and be
- 15:56strengthened. And then speaking and declaring
- 15:59words of yourself, it will produce good things.
- 16:03Speaking things out loud. You know, Scripture in the
- 16:07beginning it was meant to be spoken out.
- 16:11So they spoke it in the beginning so that I will be
- 16:15written. Now it's written and we need to
- 16:18be speaking it out. So let's start with these
- 16:22declarations, 'cause I just think this would be so great.
- 16:25Just wherever you're at, just say these words with me.
- 16:30I am equipped to do every good work in Christ I can.
- 16:37Doors are opening in my favor. I am blessed and good things are
- 16:42coming my way for 2026. I will choose today peace, joy,
- 16:49truth and faith. You know that declaration right
- 16:54there, the one in Christ I can. Anytime something I don't know,
- 17:00challenging enters and I start to go, oh, you know, starting to
- 17:06make me nervous. I don't know, I automatically
- 17:11will yell it out or declare it out, say it to myself.
- 17:15I'll say in Christ I can, in Christ I can.
- 17:19And it's incredible the shift that happens when we just say
- 17:25those words in Christ. I can do that in Christ.
- 17:30I can get up and go and and do that project in Christ.
- 17:35I can go and go to that job interview in Christ.
- 17:40I can't. And you fill out the blank,
- 17:42whatever that is. You can do this every day.
- 17:46You can do whatever it is where you have a tendency to struggle
- 17:52in that area. You go in Christ, I can.
- 17:56And when you do that, watch what it does to you.
- 17:59Because if we want to see change, it always begins with
- 18:03the tongue in our minds. It's from our neck up.
- 18:06What we say aligns us with His truth and it shapes our destiny.
- 18:12Physical healing. I had a shoulder that needed
- 18:17some healing and every day I kept saying thank you God for my
- 18:21healing. Thank you that I have a healed
- 18:24shoulder. Thank you that I have a new
- 18:26shoulder. And even though everything in
- 18:29the natural was telling me otherwise, the symptoms that
- 18:32hurt, I couldn't use it. I couldn't function.
- 18:36But I literally did this every day for eight to nine months.
- 18:39I mean it felt like a whole year until finally I had my church
- 18:46had an evangelist come and we all lined up those that were
- 18:50believing in their healing and he told us all after prayer to
- 18:55start moving the the the body part that we were praying over
- 18:59for healing. And I kid you not, my shoulder
- 19:03felt like a 5 year old little girl's shoulder again.
- 19:06I mean, it was amazing He had us all go on the microphone and
- 19:12give God glory and share what he has done to our healing.
- 19:17And I really truly believe that God, he, he adores that.
- 19:22He delights in that when we give him glory, when we give him the
- 19:25credit of his healing power and we announce it, right?
- 19:30So that others can see your faith and can see your healing,
- 19:35to be encouraged that He wants to heal US, right?
- 19:41So even though you're not feeling it, even though you're
- 19:45not seeing it, we walk by faith, not by sight.
- 19:49What you declare you will start to see.
- 19:54Speak it until you see it, right?
- 19:58And we speak it and we tell our bodies what to do.
- 20:04This is such a crucial part because.
- 20:08I experienced this with my own self a years back.
- 20:13I'm sure you've heard this before, my testimony on the fear
- 20:16of publicly speaking. And it was this one day I was
- 20:22listening to a a pastor in my car.
- 20:24I was driving and I read this verse, second Timothy 17, where
- 20:30God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and
- 20:34a sound mind. And for the first time I saw,
- 20:39wow, fear is a spirit and it doesn't come from God.
- 20:43Well, I don't have to deal with this.
- 20:45I don't have to manage fear. I don't have to struggle
- 20:50battling it. I could see it for what it is.
- 20:53And then God gave me the authority with His word, by His
- 20:58word, to make it go. I don't have to have this
- 21:04constantly attacking my spirit. So over the, the time period
- 21:10after that, I started getting these opportunity, more and more
- 21:13opportunities to come in and speak.
- 21:16And there's this one Sunday morning and I had planned to
- 21:20speak at a, a Sunday service at, at my local church.
- 21:25And I'm putting on my makeup and my body's trembling.
- 21:28My hand is, I'm trying to put eye makeup on and my hand would
- 21:33not be still and I was feeling nervous.
- 21:37My nervous system was going out of whack.
- 21:40But what was so bizarre was there's this contrast with my
- 21:44spirit, your spirit in your heart down there towards your
- 21:48belly. I am feeling peace.
- 21:51I'm feeling calm, but my body is reacting to nervousness.
- 21:58And I remember hearing this, hearing this in Scripture,
- 22:03hearing this from other pastors that hey, you tell your body
- 22:07what to do. You could tell your body to shut
- 22:11up. You could tell your body, hey
- 22:14nervous system, you have to normalize because our spirit,
- 22:19the Holy Spirit in our spirit the Word of God has authority,
- 22:25is the Master over our body because we are made-up into
- 22:30body, soul and spirit. Our soul is our mind, will and
- 22:37emotions. And then our body just contains
- 22:40what we have, the spirit and the soul.
- 22:43And so when we have our spirit, it's Master over our mind, will
- 22:49and emotions. And so when we have the Holy
- 22:52Spirit at work ruling over our flesh, we can tell our body that
- 22:57it must obey in Jesus mighty name.
- 23:00So I was very specific. I said my blood pressure has got
- 23:05to normalize nervous system. You have to calm down.
- 23:10Everything has to be at peace, including every cell, every
- 23:17nerve, everything that is working my blood, everything
- 23:21inside my body must listen to the word of God.
- 23:28And I'd speak scripture over it. And instantly I felt my body
- 23:33sinking into this calmness and it was no longer able to just do
- 23:37what it wants. Now my body was aligned with
- 23:41what my spirit was feeling. It was feeling peace.
- 23:45So there is power in our tongue, like we were saying, our words
- 23:54carry value, it carries eternal weight.
- 23:58And we don't wait until circumstances change.
- 24:03We speak as though the promise has already been fulfilled
- 24:07because it already has in the spiritual realm.
- 24:10So as we go through this year, to keep that fire of enthusiasm
- 24:16going, we speak life over whatever we are walking in,
- 24:22whatever God is putting our hands to.
- 24:25It matters what we are saying in our day-to-day.
- 24:30OK, so #2 so number one was our words and our thoughts.
- 24:35Number 2 is daily surrender. This is saying each day, Lord,
- 24:40I'm yours, lead me, use me. Surrender actually takes care of
- 24:47frustration and exhaustion. When we surrender, we get
- 24:52infused with God's mighty strength in US.
- 24:55And when we surrender, it provides us with this position
- 25:00to trust in Him. And when we're trusting in Him,
- 25:04we're resting in Him. And when that happens, we get
- 25:08His renewed strength infused in US.
- 25:13Psalms 28 seven says it perfectly here it says the Lord
- 25:18is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted in Him.
- 25:22I am helped, therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my
- 25:27song will I praise Him. It says my heart greatly
- 25:32rejoices. That is a a heart of joy.
- 25:35The joy of the Lord is our strength.
- 25:38We are trusting in Him and he gives us the strength.
- 25:43The other one, Psalm 18, two, says the Lord is my rock and my
- 25:47fortress, my deliverer, my God, my strength in whom I will
- 25:52trust. God gives us the strength when
- 25:55we trust. When we trust, He gives us the
- 25:57strength. It's this beautiful, intertwined
- 26:01promise that He gives us, and we are given this as we surrender.
- 26:07You know, previously I did an episode on casting your cares to
- 26:11Him and how God gave me this image of each stone was a care
- 26:17or a concern and how I would take that rock and I'd skip it
- 26:22into the lake or an ocean. Well, two things #1 you're not
- 26:28going to go and look for that rock that you just skipped in
- 26:31the ocean. And God was saying, this is what
- 26:34I want you to be doing when you cast that care, when you cast
- 26:38that stone to me, imagine it just going out in the ocean.
- 26:42You're not going to go and pick it back up because how many of
- 26:45us will cast something to him and then we go and feel like we
- 26:48got to control it again or we got to go pick it up again.
- 26:52It's not happening fast enough for me.
- 26:54I got to go and and do something about it.
- 26:57No, God's saying I'm taking care of it.
- 27:00Even though you don't feel it, see it, touch it, it's being
- 27:04taken care of. And the other thing is that,
- 27:08God, he is such a gentleman. He's not going to force his way
- 27:13in. So when you're skipping that
- 27:17rock, if you notice when you do a good skip, you're releasing
- 27:22it, right? You're, you're not holding on to
- 27:25it ever so slightly. Because when you do, when you
- 27:29skip a rock and you hold on to that grip a little too much,
- 27:33that rock doesn't go far. It just kind of falls right in
- 27:36front of you, right? So imagining when we, when we
- 27:41release that rock, because that's what God wants us to do.
- 27:44He wants us to fully release that grip because he's not gonna
- 27:48like force it on us. He's not gonna just bombard us
- 27:52with it, right? He's a gentleman.
- 27:54So in those moments when we completely let go of that grip,
- 28:00that's where His power can be activated in our lives.
- 28:05Surrender, we got to understand, goes beyond those words.
- 28:09It shows up best in that heart posture.
- 28:12It's not about stopping action and not doing anything.
- 28:16It's about stopping the striving to do things our own way.
- 28:21When God says my ways are higher than than your ways, my thoughts
- 28:26are higher than your thoughts, it's US wanting.
- 28:30I mean, thank you, Jesus. He's higher than our thoughts
- 28:33because we want to align ourselves with his thoughts.
- 28:36We want to align ourselves with his ways because they are way
- 28:40higher. And so in that, in that
- 28:43surrender is when we can align ourselves with God.
- 28:48What do you want for my life? And then he gives us that next
- 28:53step and then he gives us the outcome.
- 28:57Each step is our faith step. And then when we take that step,
- 29:02then he releases another step. He releases his way, his divine
- 29:10perfect way. It's us that need to release our
- 29:14timeline, what how we think it needs to go and how fast it
- 29:19needs to go, right? Because when we do, then we
- 29:23start to be, then we start to flow in this grace, in this ease
- 29:28without striving. And we don't struggle with
- 29:31burnout and exhaustion. We can always tell if we're
- 29:36trying to do things our way or do it by our own strength or
- 29:40will, because we will be frustrated.
- 29:43We will be exhausted, you know, and surrender doesn't
- 29:47necessarily mean that we have to come to Him with something
- 29:52weighing us down. Surrender should be a daily
- 29:56coming to Him in His presence, having that humble heart to come
- 30:00to Him, listening to the Holy Spirit in our prayer life and
- 30:04our quiet time and praying in the Spirit.
- 30:08It's a wonderful gift to have that praying in the Spirit to
- 30:11know God's will and God's plan for our lives.
- 30:15Quieting our souls before Him is an absolute must if we want to
- 30:20be strong in every arena of our life.
- 30:24He wants to give us the wisdom and guidance.
- 30:27He wants to talk to us. There's so many times where I'm
- 30:30finishing with my prayer and then my mind starts to kind of
- 30:35wonder and then it's like he's pulling my hand, you know, or
- 30:39just holding my hand and saying, wait, I've got so much to share
- 30:43with you. Come back, sit down.
- 30:46I want to share what I have to say to you because this is the
- 30:52daily leading. This is his voice that we need.
- 30:55It's training our heart ears. You know, Elijah didn't find
- 31:00God's voice in an earthquake or a loud wind sound.
- 31:05He found it in the still small voice.
- 31:09That's what we get to hear his in our spirits.
- 31:12We, we have these, I always say train your heart ears to hear.
- 31:18We got ears in our heart, ears in our spirit.
- 31:21And it's like the shepherd. He says the, the sheep know my
- 31:26voice. I am the shepherd and the sheep
- 31:28know my voice. I shared this example of a
- 31:34whistle that my husband does with the kids.
- 31:37The kids know the whistle of their dad and they come running
- 31:41over. They they're attentive to that
- 31:44whistle. We need to be attentive to that
- 31:47similar voice that we hear from God.
- 31:50That's him speaking to our spirits, and the greatest
- 31:54victories that we can ever find in our lives is in that
- 31:58surrendered heart posture. Hey, you have just finished Part
- 32:031 of A2 part episode. So for the next two ways that
- 32:08you can stay fervent in the Holy Spirit in your 2026, then you
- 32:13won't want to miss listening to part.
