- 0:00So since there's like a stream running through that's gonna be carrying some
- 0:05energy right? Hmm and not to mention like all the marble and like limestone and
- 0:11crystals and stuff in the game. Yeah like that shit holds on to energy too. It's
- 0:17true. Speaking of holding on to energy it's time for some spooky stuff. Oh so
- 0:23this is where we learn that everything is haunted forever. Everything is haunted
- 0:29forever and ever.
- 0:31Hi Caitlyn. Hi Cassie. Hi creepy people. Hello. If you're new to our creepy
- 0:47corner of the world this is PNW Haunts and Homicides where we chat about true
- 0:52crime, the paranormal and all things creepy spooky in the Pacific Northwest and
- 1:00also bats and also bats. We also do a tarot reading in every episode for a
- 1:08little bit of deeper insight into our topic. Is our topic bats? I was just gonna
- 1:15say and sometimes also bats. We just really like bats. We're feeling it. Okay my
- 1:25episode we have bats. It's kind of funny because on my from my angle of you it's
- 1:32just a little bat wings poking up over your head. Oh really? It looks like he just
- 1:36has a little wings. Should I take a picture of you? That girl. Yeah. Is that Halloween? It feels like Halloween. I
- 1:45like got really excited. Got it in the mood. But like I'm also kind of feeling the
- 1:53summer vibe lately with my episodes. You know last time we went hiking in the
- 1:59creepy redwood forest that we did a real PNW summer. Nature, adventure, naked
- 2:09bike ride. Not this summer. I was gonna say actually I'm really really sad news about
- 2:15that. It got canceled. It's really sad. I don't know why though. Well I'll tell you
- 2:23we have news. Tell me. So the bats? It's not a well. Some people might have bat wings
- 2:30fluffing around while they're naked. I don't know. Yeah that's fair. The Portland
- 2:36World naked bike ride has been canceled this year due to lack of volunteers.
- 2:42Oh. Because it's it's huge. Like they have a ton of people. It's like the only time you
- 2:49can be naked in public and people are into it. So they need like a lot of volunteers to
- 2:55you know obviously. That's team. I heard. Yeah. They didn't have enough. So this is a call
- 3:03to action. Get your all's creepy naked butts out next year and volunteer for the naked
- 3:09bike ride. So we can go. As volunteers who will be fully clothed. Do you think we should
- 3:19volunteer? I wonder if the volunteers are they naked too? I mean get it. You don't have
- 3:25to be naked. Yeah. But I wonder. Well everyone volunteer because I would like to see this happen
- 3:34again. Okay well unfortunately this episode is not all about the naked bike ride. I was wondering.
- 3:42I know. I just saw the news and I had to bring it up. Yeah. It's newsworthy. It is. As
- 3:49hard as I try to just like couldn't find any creepy stories involving a traveling mass
- 3:55of nudity. It just like there wasn't anything there. Okay. It's like no one. There's no
- 4:02like creepy naked dude stories. I was like. Huh. Interesting. Okay. I see where you're going.
- 4:09I see. I see now. Okay. It didn't actually look for those. Hopefully no one is creepy at
- 4:15the naked bike ride. I think everyone is. Yeah. Yeah. I my head immediately went to naked
- 4:22ghost scared sheetless. Yeah. That's the naked ghost. Scared sheetless. That was what
- 4:31Beetlejuice is going to be called. This was not planned. Y'all. There you go. I'm wearing
- 4:37never trust the living shirt which is from Beetlejuice. Yeah. But it had bats and like lanterns on
- 4:43it. It's perfect. So remind me of what we're going to talk about today which I almost gave
- 4:48away which I didn't mean to. I guess lanterns is another clue. Okay. Let's move on before
- 4:56you guys. Okay. So we did the nature thing with the redwoods and now we need some adventure
- 5:02summer. Right. Yes. Did I say naked or nature? You said nature. Okay. I think. Roll. I have
- 5:13like a replay in my head of me saying. Okay. So we did the naked thing in the redwoods. But
- 5:19I think I said nature. This is that moment when I want to go roll that beautiful bean
- 5:27footage. Well, if I said naked, it'll be funny. I'm not redoing it. It's fun for everyone.
- 5:35I think. Well, we're going to have some more fun. So let's go pot-holing you guys. Pot-holing?
- 5:42Yeah. Pot-holing. You don't know what that is. My throat did that weird Predator thing.
- 5:49I heard it. And I'm like, hot. We all wear rear. It came from the pot hole. Oh, oops. Okay.
- 5:57That's what they call it in the UK and Ireland. Okay. Here we call it spolunking. Oh my god.
- 6:06Like as it. Like what? Like the cave thing. I can't make words now. Yeah. Cave can make
- 6:15words. I can't. Exploring. It's like heights, but also confined spaces and doors have to be
- 6:25high. And it's just exploring a cave. Okay. Obviously people do extreme stuff like, you know,
- 6:34like diving down into the cave and crazy, it's squeezing and shit. But you don't have to do that.
- 6:40But you don't. Don't. But you can. But don't. So 293 miles south of Portland, Oregon, almost to the
- 6:50border of California. Oh, hey girl. Long time no party. Yeah. On caves highway in the town of
- 6:59cave junction. Okay. Well, that feels a little heavy handed. If I'm being honest. Where are we going?
- 7:07Is the Oregon caves national monument? It's actually just one cave, but it's like, but a bunch of
- 7:14tunnels down there, but they call it caves. Okay. There are 133 national monuments in the US. I had to
- 7:22look it up because I was like, Oh, like how special is this national monument thing? And it turns out
- 7:27it's pretty special. Yeah. Yeah. So it's a pretty good thing preserves the cave. The cave's first
- 7:34recorded discovery was in 1874 by a man and his dog, Elijah and Bruce, which ones which that's
- 7:45what I was just thinking Bruce is the dog. Okay. Yeah. That that makes sense. Is it Elijah
- 7:52a cute name for a dog though? It would be. I know. I kind of want a dog now. Yeah. Oh, I don't.
- 8:00I mean, I do. I actually tried to convince Chris to pull over on the side of the road the other day
- 8:06because we saw a bunny. Oh, wow. I don't know if it's wild, but it was it wasn't wearing a collar.
- 8:16Oh, let's put it that way. Okay. Sticky up ears are floppy. It has a little sticky up ears. Oh, that's
- 8:21a wild bunny. Well, I mean, not necessarily. Lots of bunnies have sticky up ears. Okay. It's not my fault
- 8:29that we had the holding pops growing up. Listen, I'm still mad because he said we would go get the
- 8:37bunny today and we didn't you can't have a bunny wants to be wild. Okay. Well, I've already tried to
- 8:45convince him to bring home a coyote. I thought that the bunny was a pretty good compromise.
- 8:50You should get a new cat and it'll be like a raccoon.
- 8:56And then everyone in our house would die. So this is kind of a crazy story. All right. I will link it.
- 9:05Someone wrote out like a little story about what happened to him. So it's pretty cool. But all
- 9:11interesting. I'll kind of summarize it for you. All right. So Brucy technically was the one who
- 9:18found the cave. They were hunting in the Sisky Mountains. They had a camp with a bunch of other people
- 9:27who are also hunting, but they went off on their own. And Bruce goes sniffing off doing dog things,
- 9:34you know, how they do. Oh, right. I forgot. Bruce is the dog. Yes. I'm like, Bruce, he's a man.
- 9:41Elijah's the man. Okay. And Elijah realizes that the dog isn't close by, but he can hear him
- 9:48barking. So he goes off to try to find him so they can head back. And so here's some barking in the
- 9:55distance. He goes toward the sound. And soon he comes upon a stream and it's flowing from a dark
- 10:03opening in the rocks. And he hears the dog barking again. Oh, and it sounds like it's from deep inside
- 10:12where the stream is coming from out of these rocks. Oh boy. But he also hears this is crazy. But he
- 10:21also hears something else inside. It's a freaking bear. He hears a bear growling inside in his dog
- 10:32barking. And then I think at one point the dog like whimper like winds. Oh no, Bruce. Yes. So obviously
- 10:41it's not going great for Bruce. Well, before that, let me just say we officially have a bear theme.
- 10:47We really do. It's like what's going on. It's so weird. Well, I mean, I think we've established
- 10:55women are team bear. That's right. And we talked about bear in the last episode. Oh my gosh,
- 11:00it's so funny. Team bear. Oh, this gets even weirder. But so this saint of a man, of course, he has to
- 11:07go after his dog. Saint of a man, I think that's the bear minimum, but the bear minimum. Get it.
- 11:15But he's crawling into this dark hole in rocks where there's a stream. So it's like it's not just
- 11:25of course he goes after his dog, but like that's risky for your own life, right? Yeah.
- 11:32So he goes into this bear apartment and and he proceeds to get lost and also runs out of matches,
- 11:45which were the only light he had. Okay, it's like nightmares. Literally. Yeah. Yeah, but like,
- 11:55why are we not traveling? Okay, I guess it's probably daylight 1874. Oh shit. Yeah. Yeah. And he
- 12:03wasn't expecting to go into a cave. He's out hunting his campus. Some I nearby. But the unexpected
- 12:11haven't got damn it. Bruce just look what you've done. Bruce is in the bear apartment. Just
- 12:18which is kind of like my apartment when he come into any room unexpectedly. You could be
- 12:27mulled. I didn't see you coming in. Yeah, I did. You were welcome though. Yeah, but I didn't get
- 12:36screamed up. I did scream. But like at her, but no, like at her. It doesn't sound like a bear. No.
- 12:45Sound like a twiggy. If a twiggy could scream. Okay, so where was I? He ran out of matches.
- 13:02So he used to start crawling on the ground because it's so treacherous in there that he can't like
- 13:08just blindly walk, right? You're gonna trip. You're gonna step in a hole. You're gonna probably maybe
- 13:13fall even off a cliff. You don't know what's in there. I really hate that. Yeah, so he had a crawl in
- 13:18his hands and knees. It obviously freaking like would hurt and that sucks. Yeah, that sucks a lot.
- 13:27But by some sort of cave angel miracle, he found the stream again, which he knew led out of the cave.
- 13:36So he knew he if he just followed that stream, he would be okay. And then I'm like, wait, is a cave angel a bat?
- 13:43Yeah. I think so. I think the bats stayed save them. He did. I had a visual of like the bats like
- 13:55picking him up and like flying him out of the cave. So he still went bats. I feel a lot about it.
- 14:01It would be like the balloon house and up. Yes. Yes. Let's redo up with that. Yeah. And make it like a
- 14:13spooky house. I kind of like it. He spent three hours lost in the cave. Crazy. Which like it doesn't
- 14:21seem like that long, which he did get pretty lucky and eternity. Yes. Yeah. If you're in there
- 14:28lost and you don't know where you're at, that's a really long time. Three hours. I would have several
- 14:34strokes. Yeah. But it wasn't like days. You know, like he didn't get lost down there for
- 14:41for that long. And the bear didn't find them. So that was also good. Yeah. I mean, great, great so far.
- 14:51Well, the cave angels also looked out for our boy, Brucey too. Thank God. He came limping out of the cave
- 14:58after his daddy. He did have some cuts, but he he was okay. They were able to heal him up back at camp.
- 15:06So back at camp, he told them the story and no one really believed him.
- 15:15Okay. So he took one of them back the next day. They find the cave again and they see the bear.
- 15:24Shut the fuck up. Yeah. So the friend is like, oh, like, okay, you weren't lying. They thought he
- 15:34was lying about there being a bear. I mean, it's a crazy story. I am like I went and I found a cave
- 15:42in the recipe. I don't know. I mean, bears love caves from what I understand. Maybe the sky
- 15:48lied a lot. I don't know a lot of life. But they didn't just say and like, there were a lot more bears
- 15:55back then. I had no idea why. Maybe it was just a good story to say that they didn't believe them.
- 16:01That okay, that makes sense. Well, either way, they shoot the bear. And now we're back to our
- 16:09other team of bear hunting. Okay. Great. I don't know. I don't know. Okay. Well, what caliber?
- 16:18Did they decide to shoot the bear? I don't have any fucking clue. Okay. Well, when I find out what
- 16:26the bear does next, that will tell me, will they kill the bear? Okay. So it's a dead bear. All right. Yeah.
- 16:32So they have like a shotgun. Yeah. I mean, without their hunting like big animals, I think. So I
- 16:39think it was. Yeah. All right. Yeah. So they were solid. Everyone was fine after that. And then the
- 16:45mountain where Elijah found this cave is now called Mount Elijah. I wish they named mountains after
- 16:53me. You got to find caves in them in 1894 or whenever the fuck I said, this is from nps.org, which I think
- 17:00is National Park Service. That sounds correct. I also meant to say dot gov nps.gov. Oh, yes.
- 17:09What did you say the first time? Oh, nps.gov. All right. Quote. Eons of acidic water, seeping into marble
- 17:20rock created and decorated the wondrous marble halls of Oregon. That is a nickname for the cave.
- 17:28Because the cave was formed in limestone that has turned into marble due to a process called
- 17:37metamorphism. Isn't that cool? I had no idea. I love that. There's just like, I don't know,
- 17:42marble's marble. Yeah. I didn't. It used to be limestone. Okay. Marble facts. Marble facts. I knew
- 17:51you would like it. I picked it for you too. We love marble so much here. We're like kind of obsessed.
- 17:59We didn't even know it with limestone. Now color yourself a marble fan. Yeah. I feel like kind of
- 18:06a poser you are. That's like when somebody's like, oh, you like that band? Three songs. Right.
- 18:13The cave reaches about 15,000 feet underground. That's too many. It's full of
- 18:26stalactites and stalagmites. You remember those from school? Pretty. You know those
- 18:35drippy downy there in the cave. They're so cool. I want one. I want one. I think I have to like
- 18:42tighten a slight white. Yeah. One grows from the ceiling. One grows from the floor. Don't ask me what
- 18:47I want one like right here. Yeah. Like if we just have one of like marble. I mean, marble's like all
- 18:54well and good and everything. But I want like the drippy thing. Yeah. You know. It's so mysterious.
- 19:00Also, you know, it's down in caves. Who knows what kind of creepy crawlies? I was going to say
- 19:07something grows. Right. And bats though. And bats. There's so many bats in caves. But they're so cute.
- 19:15But I would probably fully piss my pants if I came into contact with the bats. Sky puppies.
- 19:23They're so cute. But like if they're flying like into you and you're like, are you a mosquito?
- 19:29I mean, I'm very attractive to mosquitoes. Apparently my blood is delicious. Just call me Bella.
- 19:40Well, it's a bat apartment too. It's not just a bear apartment.
- 19:44Actually, it's probably more like a bat dorm. Oh, I like that. Bat frat.
- 19:51Yeah. Bat frat. I like it. But there's some important bat information on the website nps.org.gov.
- 20:02So it says nps.gov/orca. I think that's where I'm getting confused. No, that would fuck me up.
- 20:10It's what would fuck me up so hard. I'm going to quote again from nps.gov.
- 20:17Help save our bats. Help save our bats. Save the bat. North America's bats are under attack
- 20:24from white no syndrome. Let's see. Bat disease. And to prevent the spread, please do not bring close,
- 20:34even washed clothes, shoes or equipment used in any and any used in any other cave mine or any other
- 20:43bat habitat. So just like, if you're going from cave to caves, plunking around, just have different
- 20:50clothes. Don't transfer clothes. Even if they're washed, yeah, even if they're washed, I guess they
- 20:56still can have stuff on them. Well, yeah, I don't know. It's really sad. I don't want the bats today.
- 21:05The bats die. We don't like what are we going to do? Like, I don't know. Be eaten. They're like
- 21:10pollinators. There are a few tours you can take in the cave. There's Discovery Cave Tour,
- 21:19Twist, Stoop and discover the dark depths with a guide. So you'll have a guide. I was like dark depths.
- 21:29I thought you were going to just say guy for a second. I was like with a guy. He's got his name.
- 21:35Like why the emphasis on one guy. One guy. I give a couple different tour guides. Just one guy.
- 21:43It is actually like a Ranger tour guide too. So it's not just like a random guy.
- 21:49Some high school kid like taking you through a dangerous cave. It's like an actual Ranger.
- 21:53Okay. Yeah. So like feel safer. That's the tour I want to take. Well, this next one is the tour I
- 22:00want to take. Candle light cave tour. And they've done a haunted one too. It was like in 2015 that
- 22:07I found so I don't know if they if they still do anything like that. But they do a candle light cave.
- 22:12Candle light. Yeah. I'm sorry. I want it. I want to sell that. How you go through
- 22:19your candle? Like I can't. But I trip over my own feet. Like maybe you're not the person who
- 22:26would go on the candle like she's like you're not invited. You dumb bitch. Maybe if you trip on
- 22:33things you shouldn't walk around in the dark cave with a candle. I'm a fire. Wow. So ableist you guys.
- 22:42Also if you're going with kids and stuff they do have a kids and family tour.
- 22:50Oh yeah. Which is easier I assume. I can't do that one either.
- 22:54But they also if you really like adventure you can go on the off trail cave tour.
- 22:59Squeeze through tight spaces crawl on your belly and explore the deepest depths.
- 23:05Echo.
- 23:10I would not go on that. I'm not that adventurous to yeah. I don't want to squeeze. Yeah, I don't let
- 23:21know squeezing. I'm okay with spiders and creepy crawlies. No, I don't want to. No.
- 23:28Squeeze past them or touch them. No. Brush up. Yeah. I'm good with that. No. And then I've also heard
- 23:35I'm going to have to look up the name and information and everything about the spillunking
- 23:43case. But there was somebody who really sadly died in a cave. That happens a lot. Yeah. It's awful
- 23:53and scary. It's not good. There is also lodging at the Oregon Caves National Monument called the
- 24:01Chateau. Oh. While the caves are still open the Chateau has been closed since 2018 for
- 24:10constructions and renovations. They ran into some pretty big structural issues when they started
- 24:21renovating and much more than they anticipated needed to be done. Meaning a much much much larger
- 24:32budget. Oh, what? Yeah. It's not there. Also interest rates are really high for what?
- 24:40For everything. Oh, interest rates are high. If you need to borrow money. Oh, for borrow. Yeah.
- 24:47For like, you're like for what? A room of cars. I don't know. By the hotel. I don't know. Are they charging
- 24:53interest on our hotel rooms? Yeah. They had a I think like tax money, you know, for rebuilding like
- 25:05a historic place. Oh, sure. I'm pretty sure they had like a budget for that. But it just
- 25:10ended up funding. Yeah. It ended up just not being enough for what needs to be done. So they had
- 25:16to stop construction last March. And I think they were planning when they closed in 2018. They were
- 25:23planning to reopen. I think in 2023 or 2012. I can't remember one of those, but they were planning
- 25:30to reopen pretty soon. Yeah. But they just ran out of funds last year. Oh, no. So they are currently
- 25:39raising funds to finish the project so they can reopen the beloved, beloved, beloved, that's
- 25:46beloved and historic. I didn't need to do that. I love it. This beloved, this beloved lodge.
- 25:56My brain really loves that. Yeah. You know, like why use many words when we've established I am
- 26:04Kevin in the best way possible. I'm just wait. I will get you with the chili one day.
- 26:12Oh, I love a good chili on your floor. That's what I thought. She's like on your wedding dress.
- 26:19So there is a website. It's like friends of the Chateau or friends of the Oregon caves or
- 26:27I'll link it. But they're the ones who are like helping raise the funds, doing all the things.
- 26:34They're the websites. Awesome. They have a place to donate just money. They have a place where you
- 26:39can volunteer or volunteer. You can sponsor one of their chairs. They have really historic old
- 26:49furniture and they've lost a bunch of them in a flood. No. Yeah. So they're reconstructing them,
- 26:57making finding other ones, rebuilding some. But you can sponsor one and then you will get your
- 27:04plaque on it. That's so cool. They have a bunch of different ways that you can support. Obviously,
- 27:09we've donated because we have to. We're talking about it. We have to link all the things. So please
- 27:16donate if you want and or if you can. Not if you want. If you can. If you can and if you want. So we
- 27:24can all go and stay at this picturesque six story lodge with 23 rooms, a fine dining with views over
- 27:34a wooded canyon and a 1930s era coffee shop. Like I need that coffee shop back. I need it. I've
- 27:45never been there. But I like really need to go. But I need it. And I think it was like 1930s because
- 27:51it was built in the 30s. You know, it's not like they made it themed the 30s. Yeah, there
- 27:56are like funds of 30s. Yeah. Let's just when it existed. And if you know, if they don't rebuild
- 28:05this stuff, it's just going to turn into a creepy, dilapidated old building and as much as I really love
- 28:11those. It really do. Yeah. I hate to see this place end up that way. Yeah. Something historic that
- 28:19easily could be saved. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know about easily. It's a lot of money. You guys, it'll
- 28:25easily could be saved. Okay. Yeah. I hope. I hope so. Like I'm hoping even if they raise the money that
- 28:33like they can fix the things that are wrong in there because they yeah. And I think they need to
- 28:39like update it for like earth things and stuff too, which that's really important. Oh, seismic. Yeah.
- 28:45seismic upgrades are no joke. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and the tough thing is I will say this even in buildings
- 28:54where you don't have to upgrade the building itself for seismic. The city of Portland and the
- 29:04state of Oregon in general is very strict. And they knew they added new laws. That's I think one of
- 29:12the things they said aside from the eventual finished product during construction. If part of the
- 29:22building is habitated, it needs to be up to the new standards in a lot of situations. So that is
- 29:33really expensive for you know, temporary structures, temporary features of the building that you know,
- 29:44they're not quite done with renovations. I've seen how this can impact other projects.
- 29:50Yeah. That's it's tough because you want buildings to be safe. No, yeah. Yeah. You can't just have this
- 29:58building, especially where it's at. We'll get into like where how it's situated, but and it's like
- 30:04above a cave. So yeah, you kind of need the thing to be a little sturdy, you know, I'd like it to be.
- 30:12Yeah. I would too because I like really need I want to go to there. I want to go to there.
- 30:17I actually try. Okay. So my mom had been there before and I asked her for pictures that she
- 30:24can't find them. I'm bringing up my mom again. It's another theme. Mem. So in 2020, I was, you know,
- 30:33we're looking for places to go. I think it was maybe 2021. Yeah, it was after like the big shut down.
- 30:39It was when things were starting to open back up and I just wanted to go somewhere where it was like
- 30:43wasn't too crowded. It was outdoors. Yeah. And so I was like, oh, I want to go to the caves. I've
- 30:48never been like look it up. And I'm like, I'm like, oh, it's going to reopen. We're getting there.
- 31:00We're getting there. And then then I go look at look it up. I'm like, oh, she's steaming it.
- 31:05They're still not open. It's sad. So yeah, everyone don't like the shadow was built in 1934.
- 31:15It is adjacent to the entrance of the Oregon Caves National Monument. And it is a national historic
- 31:22landmark in one of the National Park's great lodges, which like I didn't know that was a thing.
- 31:30That's cool. Apparently, like at the National Park places, they have like lodges and they're called
- 31:37like the great National Park's great lodges. So yeah. Yeah. So this building is built like off of a cliff.
- 31:46So the front is three stories. And then the back side of the building is six stories. Oh boy.
- 31:53Or floors. I don't know. Stories and floors are the same. Yeah. I mean generally speaking. Yeah.
- 31:58Say floors. I don't know. Yeah. It was built over the stream. And it actually flows through the
- 32:05building. It flows through the dining room. That sounds so cool. But also I'm not so sure that that's
- 32:14for me. What? It's it's very the dining room is like super fancy. It's not like it would be like a
- 32:24run like a bunch of water rushing through. No, no, no, no, I'm sure. I'm sure. But I'm like, it's a little
- 32:32intimidating. It's a little bit like it's a stream. I think I don't think it's like a white
- 32:37water rapid. Well, sure. Right now. That's a stream. I know that our waterways, like they change
- 32:46over. Yeah. I don't know. This building was freaks me out a little bit since 1934. And I don't
- 32:52think they've had issues with it. Or I didn't read any of them. It sounds so cool. But I feel like it
- 32:56would put me on edge. I don't know. I think it's so cool. It sounds so cool. Like I want to go to there.
- 33:03But I feel like there'd be a little part of my lizard brain that would be a little bit scared. And
- 33:07that's like the same stream that saved Elijah. So like it's a good stream. You know, it's probably
- 33:14cool. It's like it's probably going to be chill. Yeah. All right. All right. So since there's like a
- 33:20stream running through, that's going to be carrying some energy, right? And not to mention,
- 33:26like all the marble and like limestone and crystals and stuff in the community. Yeah. Like that
- 33:32shit holds on to energy too. It's true. Speaking of holding on to energy, it's time for some spooky stuff.
- 33:40Oh, so this is where we learn that everything is haunted forever. Everything is haunted forever.
- 33:50And so it's an old wood building. The floors creak. The piping is loud. The wind kind of whistles
- 34:03through the trees. And you know how it is. It probably gets through the windows and the little
- 34:08crevices and cracks making a bunch of noise everywhere. So noisy. So there's that kind of stuff going
- 34:14on. The staircases and hallways are apparently narrow and dimly lit. It kind of like kind of like
- 34:23the man race a, called man race a castle that went to like the hallways and stairways were like
- 34:30narrow, dimly lit, very creepy, spooky vibes. And I read in one person's blog that there was a random
- 34:40window to nowhere in the hallway ceiling. I'm sorry what? Yeah. And I think it was like that. It
- 34:46must have been the top floor because it said no light came from it and it looked like it was the attic.
- 34:52So like there was like a window to the attic in the hallway ceiling. I don't know. Yeah, I also don't
- 35:02know. Like any more details. Is this like maybe they were fixing something and so they cut a hole
- 35:07out and it's like they put some plexiglass over it to that. I don't know. What that sounds like
- 35:15in unintentional skylight like right to the attic. I don't I don't know. I don't know why. I don't
- 35:26even know if this is true. It's just something I ran someone's blog. Well, I guess we have to go. We
- 35:31have to go. We have to go. But what if they fixed it? I want creepy windows into the attic. God for bed.
- 35:39They do have one ghost. Just like a singular ghost. Just one ghost.
- 35:49One ghost that is talked about anyway. There might be other things around but they're not like
- 35:57really mentioned. I don't think. All right. And like I said, every haunted place has to have this
- 36:07one ghost or it just isn't haunted and they listened. Okay. This is a woman in white situation. Again.
- 36:16Or some people actually call her the blue lady. So I guess she appears blue sometimes. Oh,
- 36:23interesting. And no one actually like called her the woman in white. They just call her Elizabeth.
- 36:28That's her name. It's just like this is like the woman in white. Stereo. Do we know how she spells
- 36:35Elizabeth normally? The normal way. Which is not Caitlin's middle name. That's the normal way.
- 36:48Is your middle name spelled that way? I don't know because you won't tell me how it's spelled.
- 36:54Oh, how is yours? It's spelled Elizabeth. I don't know how do you spell Elizabeth differently than
- 36:58a L-I-Z-A-B-F. Okay. Some people spell it with an S instead of the Z. Oh, I've never seen that before.
- 37:08Sorry. Oh yeah. It's just like it's like the normal way. I don't know what you're talking about. I was like
- 37:13like trust me. My name is Elizabeth. I know that people spell it other way. I was like this isn't a
- 37:19Caitlin situation. I'm like, I mean it isn't. I guess I've never seen Elizabeth spell it. I don't know
- 37:27that. Never encountered that. Like people have fully been like, oh, you spell it that way? Weird.
- 37:34Elizabeth was on her honeymoon with her new husband. On her honeymoon? On her honeymoon. God damn it.
- 37:43In room 310 of the chateau in the 30s. So like right after they opened on their wedding night,
- 37:50he got into some shady shenanigans with a housekeeper. What? Yeah, this piece of shit.
- 37:57A bunch of boys. Well. So other things. Yeah, other other other sad things.
- 38:08So she went looking for him because it's like it's their wedding night. Like where did he go? And she
- 38:14found them together. So like did he know this housekeeper? And like that's like why he wanted to stay on
- 38:21his honeymoon there? Was it just like I need something else to like stick my dick in right now?
- 38:27I mean he's probably just a scoundrel. It's like it's your honeymoon. You have like you have some
- 38:32that's what they're there for. I mean, I just have to do it on your honeymoon. But like yeah, I don't
- 38:36know. Yeah, no, that's maybe she said no, maybe she was tired and he just went off and was a dick bag.
- 38:43I don't know. Like an entire bag of dicks. Yeah. Wow. But yeah, that's awful. And obviously,
- 38:51Elizabeth was heartbroken and her life had just started and she thought like you know, this is
- 39:00the beginning of my fucking life. And then yeah, I'm ripped away from her. Oh, by such a dick. I'm so
- 39:07frustrated by such a bag of dicks. Even though I know it's allegedly. I don't know. But still,
- 39:14this happens. It would make me mad. I feel like even if it didn't happen here and now like it's
- 39:23happened. Like under these specific parameters or circumstances, you know that that legend comes to
- 39:32life for a reason. Yeah. Cosmen. I know. Cosmen. Cosmen are what? Trash. Trashpin. We should have that on
- 39:41every altar. Yeah, we'll just slap it on there. So Elizabeth ran to their small top room floor,
- 39:50which is like another weird thing someone pointed out is like, why were they in this tiny like
- 39:55attic room for their honeymoon? Because of the view. Right. I don't know. I don't know. Like,
- 40:00there were bigger rooms. I'm sure. Maybe. I just really hate having to keep saying this over and over
- 40:08with this type of story. But some people might be new to go stuff. So I don't want to just like
- 40:15say, you know what happens? Because maybe you don't. So I mean, don't you know,
- 40:19don't you? You're a close story as you might not know. Are you? Are you new to earth?
- 40:25Maybe. Maybe. Okay. That's fair. She might be. I don't want to make aliens feel weird. Yeah.
- 40:33Okay. What if an alien is listening to us and you just you just offended the shit out of them?
- 40:39I apologize. I got you. So she either ran up to the room so devastated that she felt like she had
- 40:48no other choice but to jump from the window to her death. Oh my god. He's so not worth it. I know. But
- 40:56like, you know, how was and I would say like there is another option. But like back then and even now
- 41:02it's like a really hard choice. I mean, also just the devastation. And like, you know, that was her
- 41:07that was the beginning of her life. Like she thought it was going to be one way and then now it's all
- 41:12the same. Not in you're just, I don't know, you could be impulsive and it's really. Did you, did
- 41:19you pick this one because? No, I didn't pick it. I picked it because they need donations. That's
- 41:26so funny because I definitely picked a case specifically because of the timing. Oh, and I'm,
- 41:36I'm gonna fuck raise up with it. Yeah, I kind of joked about picking like honeymoons and wedding
- 41:41stuff but I didn't mean to. It just happened. No, yeah, truly. Yeah, I was like, I mean, I've had
- 41:48this case saved for a while. I guess things just come into a lapse. Just happens like with all the
- 41:56bear themes. We don't know where it comes from. They'll just show up in all the stories. I mean,
- 42:00like you can't make that up. I could not have known that that one guy was like a bear hunter.
- 42:05Yeah, I had to dig and that was just a random thing. It just like popped up. It's lovely. You're
- 42:12out of this right now. I was like, also bears. We've got something we're really excited to share with
- 42:19you guys. Let's hear a few words from our new pod besties. A little bit that, although, is a
- 42:25podcast about a little bit of everything for curious minds of all ages. I'm Christina and you can tune
- 42:30in every weekday to learn about things like Cinco de Mayo, Chihuahua's, Advocanos, and Latin America.

- 42:43Check them out creepy people. Their info is in our show notes.
- 42:47But back to sad stuff. Oh, right. So either way she passed away, either if she did it on her own or
- 42:59there's another version of the story is that she went up just to pack her things and leave and he
- 43:05pushed her. Okay, so it's definitely like an out the window scenario. Okay. Yeah. On the top floor
- 43:14of the Chateau, guess sometimes here, let's steps above them. But again, like it's either the attic
- 43:23or like the roof above you on the top floor. So there shouldn't be any footsteps. Back there.
- 43:30Just be like raccoons, right? I mean, I guess. Yeah. But I think with the building being so old and
- 43:38all of the noises that it makes that the footsteps would have to be like pretty clear. And
- 43:45people also hear not just footsteps, they hear crying sounds. Oh great. So of like maybe a one
- 43:54of many or possibly a child, but probably a young woman. Cool. Guess and staff who have ran into
- 44:03Elizabeth spirit say that she's like not very nice. Oh, which like, yeah, I wouldn't be
- 44:13really when I like that. But she kind of ended her life in a terrible way after ending her marriage
- 44:20for a trash and a whole way. So I, you know, I probably wouldn't be the happiest either. Yeah, I mean,
- 44:27I feel like that's fair. Yeah. But I do have some great news for you. Okay. I really do. This is
- 44:33actually really good news. I mean, first of all, I don't believe you, but go on. No, it's so we can't
- 44:38stay here because they say that if someone checks into Elizabeth's room, 310, that you won't be
- 44:48getting a ghostly bunk mate. Because she will leave the room. If someone's in there, she doesn't
- 44:55want to be around it. People she's like, oh, she goes and she wanders the halls of the hotel.
- 45:04So, you know, once you're in the room to stay in there, don't leave and she won't bother you.
- 45:08Okay. But one place she does like to frequent is the third floor linen closet.
- 45:15And people say, they hear the hear sounds of moaning and crying coming from inside. Oh, no.
- 45:23So I don't know if maybe the moaning sounds are like her husband and the housekeeper doing it.
- 45:32And then she finds them and she starts crying or maybe the moaning is like the crying and she's
- 45:39just hiding in the closet because she doesn't know where else to go or I don't know. But that would
- 45:44make sense for like the housekeeper to be doing it in a linen closet. I hate that. I hate it. I hate it so much.
- 45:53But you don't have any reason to go in the linen closet. So you don't have to worry. We'll just
- 45:57worry now I have to because I just need to check. I have to know. She does also like to spend time
- 46:10terrorizing the kitchen. Here she likes to drop stuff on staff's heads.
- 46:16Rude. Paying special attention to the people who don't believe in or disrespect her in some way.
- 46:24Okay, well, I mean, that makes sense, but also still. Rude. Like don't, don't fuck with the ghost.
- 46:30Yeah, just be nice. There are people too, okay. One of these days, I'm totally going to die at the
- 46:39hands of a ghost that my future husband mocked. I'm going to die because of something supernatural.
- 46:49The Christopher was like, baby, baby, baby, baby. Okay. Well, we can't take him with us. No.
- 46:54We don't want stuff dropped on our heads. I don't.
- 46:58She also bangs pots and pans and rattles doors in the middle of the night.
- 47:05I'm glad you finished that sentence. She bangs and pans. She bangs. I really wasn't sure where that was
- 47:13going. Okay, now we're just going to go to the shuttle and sing she bangs to Elizabeth and hope she doesn't
- 47:22hate us. I think she would like that. She, like, it's a coin toss. I don't know. Maybe she never did get to
- 47:29bang. Oh, no. Our situation. That's true. I didn't mean it a list of it. I'm so sorry. I beg, I beg.
- 47:40Yeah. We bang. We bang. Collectively. Join us if you wish and no judgements either way.
- 47:48So I don't know why she bangs on pots and pans and stuff. But I'm like, what if she's just
- 47:54celebrating the new year or COVID health care workers? Maybe time's just a little different for her.
- 48:03I'm trying to think of other occasions when you bang pots and new years and to celebrate COVID health
- 48:10care workers. That's it. That is it. Yeah. Like this definitely was before COVID. The time would have to
- 48:17work really different in the afterlife. So we don't know. They caught some photo evidence of Elizabeth
- 48:23in a storage area of the lodge. I don't know if it's the linen closet. They just set a storage area.
- 48:29But I like to think maybe it was the linen closet. It's the linen closet. And the photo used to be kept
- 48:35in a hauntings log at the front desk. Shut the fuck up. I don't know if they still would do that or not.
- 48:41Shut the actual front door. Yeah. I know. I didn't find the photo. So that would be cool if I had it,
- 48:47right? But I don't. But they say it. But they say that when she appears, she's obvious. She looks
- 48:55really sad, which is understandable. Yeah. And she looks innocent. She looks young. She has blonde
- 49:04curly hair. I don't why they say she looks innocent. Maybe because she's just like a young person.
- 49:11Because they're like she was on her honeymoon. Yeah. And the groom was, you know,
- 49:15fangin' it out with more innocent than that guy. Oh, and she's wearing clothes that are like of the
- 49:2230s in the photo that they caught her in. They die for her. And people see her. And a little girl that
- 49:32was a guest at the chateau left an interesting crayon drawing in the haunting log. Stop it.
- 49:40Elizabeth, she likes to make things a little bit difficult for the housekeepers.
- 49:49And I can't imagine why. Yeah. I mean, what? Why would she have a, what's that called? You have a grudge
- 49:57or grudge against the housekeepers. I just, I don't know why. Yeah. She will again bang. She,
- 50:04you know what? I just thought of this. She does bang. She probably doesn't know bang like this.
- 50:10She probably knows bang as like. So if we sang she bangs her, she would be like, yeah.
- 50:16She bangs. I do bang. And she would say bang on stuff. Yeah. That's how we're gonna go,
- 50:21so we're just gonna sing Ricky Martin songs out loud to the go. Again, she bangs on the closet doors
- 50:28while the housekeepers are trying to clean. So she just, she keeps bangin' on shit. Yeah. Well, I mean,
- 50:34that's fair. And then she's gonna stop there. Because once they finish and lock the door behind
- 50:39them, she will make the beds, unfold the towels and toss them around the room. She like is pissed off
- 50:47at the housekeepers. Like nod shy about that. That is not the same girl. That is not the same girl.
- 50:55Like you need to let it go. You mean she's just, yeah. She's going through some stuff. That is the
- 51:02definition of a grudge. Yeah, it really, really is. But I thought person, I thought person's not
- 51:10around anymore. That's what I'm saying. I wonder if she still worked at the hotel after and like she
- 51:16did fuck with her after. And then I don't know. I'm curious. We need to go ask her. So I also do have to
- 51:25say that there are no official records of any deaths in the building. So I do want to say that
- 51:32just to everyone knows, isn't this in a fairly like isolated or burrow location? Yeah. Interesting.
- 51:42I don't know. I don't know what happened back in the 30s. I don't want to play them on anybody.
- 51:47No one does. Yeah. No one knows that happens. It's kind of the whole thing. All I'm saying is there's no
- 51:53record of it. So take that as you will. I went to website national parks travelers dot org and
- 52:04it is not org of the same. Okay. National parks traveler dot org. And there's a person's comment on
- 52:12here and they didn't know about the ghost hack for this place that I found for you, Caitlin. A ghost
- 52:18hack. Yeah, the ghost hack where you stay in Elizabeth's room. She leaves. Oh, that's the ghost hack.
- 52:26So this person didn't know that. Since 2012 they wrote this comment that the front desk checked
- 52:31them into room 310 and told them it was the haunted Elizabeth's room. So they went up to check
- 52:39it out and quickly came back down to change rooms. I they didn't say anything happened but I just
- 52:45think they didn't like want to stay in a haunted room. Okay. They said when they slept in this other room
- 52:54they got terrible sleep. And then the staff told them that there was an entity in that room that
- 53:01torments people. Oh, I don't know if this is like a different entity or if this is Elizabeth and
- 53:08she's not in her own room. She's often like someone else's room. Yeah. I don't know. They should have
- 53:14stayed. They should have stayed with the devil, you know, you know. I think so. Especially since now we
- 53:22know in hindsight that room 310 is probably the best place to stay if you don't want activity.
- 53:29I mean, I guess there was another comment on this website. My late spouse, Lauren Parton and I stayed
- 53:39at the chateau in the 1980s. We read and heard nothing about any haunting, which was it was the 80s.
- 53:47I don't know. Do they really like report on like haunted stuff that? I feel like it was mostly like
- 53:53urban legends and myths. You know, red it wasn't around to, right? But so the story hadn't gotten
- 53:59to them yet. Okay. They go on to say, we can up in the middle of the night, we heard a woman pacing
- 54:05in our room up and down, up and down. Oh boy. Until we finally returned to sleep.
- 54:11When we reported this the next morning, our breakfast server asked if we wanted to see something
- 54:18really spooky. Nope. All good. I said yes. And this is not me. They said yes. Oh boy. He took me to what
- 54:27I recall as a light-filled room without furniture. The hotel never rented. The moment he opened the door,
- 54:35I was frozen in terror. I couldn't even enter the room. Everyone responds the same way, he said,
- 54:42closing the door. Other servers said that they have to duck when cutlery sometimes flies
- 54:50from the drawers when they set the breakfast tables. Believe me, this is no publicity stunt. I mean,
- 54:58the place isn't even open at this point. So why would they even need a publicity stunt? Okay.
- 55:05We're going to go on to another story that was submitted in 2021. Obviously they weren't staying
- 55:10there in 2021 because the hotel was closed. It says, I had written a long story and it disappeared.
- 55:17What? Not surprising. So they had already commented a story and it's gone. Oh yeah. So I wonder if
- 55:26they had commented when it originally had happened. I don't know. I have pictures of Elizabeth in room
- 55:33309. No, you don't. Nope. Nope. So Elizabeth's room is 310. But remember, I said that she leaves.
- 55:42So maybe she went to 309 because she won't go a sleep gap. Remember, we talked about that too.
- 55:49Oh jeez. She just needs some ghostly gab in her life and I get it. Also, we should just start a
- 55:58podcast called ghostly gab ghostly gab. I love that. Oh yeah. I don't know how much more
- 56:06ghostyness I can handle. Well, we could start this. Someone else can host it. And then we'll just
- 56:12get the profits. Yeah. GM GM. So Elizabeth apparently is talking to this person because they say
- 56:24she told me she had just married her husband because she was pregnant. I have three photos of Elizabeth
- 56:31materializing. The sadness will remain until she and her child are acknowledged somehow. Oh.
- 56:37So there's no record or any other story saying she was pregnant, but I guess this person is kind of
- 56:43like psychic or can talk to the dead and they somehow got from her that she was with child. So that
- 56:50makes the story even more sad and fucked up. And I want to believe that's not true. Yeah. That's
- 56:57awful. How do you cheat on your pregnant new wife? Wow. Gosh. Like you are a double dirt bag
- 57:04dick. And real. DDD. I'm next. I'm going to read a comment from your ghost stories.com. And this
- 57:14is from 2016. Coming to the chateau, I knew nothing of its history. Y'all need to just look up
- 57:21haunted hotels before you go anywhere. I mean, or just look up at places that you're going to stay.
- 57:26Yeah. Even if you aren't quite sure that they're haunted. Just type in the place and then haunted
- 57:32after it just to make sure, you know, or you know, maybe just like try going beyond like the hotels
- 57:38actual like their website in the search result. Yeah. What if there's other stuff that's happened
- 57:44there? Like maybe it's not haunted, but what if there's other stuff you should know about? That's true.
- 57:48All my whole family knew was it was a really old hotel by the Oregon Caves. Which it is. That is true.
- 57:57Since the moment we walked in and checked in, I felt uncomfortable. I couldn't tell you why, but I
- 58:03felt there was someone there everywhere. Taking time to explore, I would walk around the lobby, upstairs
- 58:12from the dining room. Everything was normal and busy, but no matter how hard I tried, I could never sit
- 58:19by walk by or stand by the piano without getting chilled. That's so funny because as soon as you said
- 58:26everywhere, I was like Michelle Branch. Oh. She plays the piano. I'm just saying coincidence.
- 58:38I think no. I think so. The feeling I kept getting every time I was around or in the chateau made me
- 58:46uncomfortable enough to beg my parents to leave and not stay the night. Wow. Yeah, you make that
- 58:51whole trip up there. You're not leaving. Yeah, that's a lot. I mean, you'd have to be really uncomfortable.
- 58:57Yeah. And it's like out there. Like if you look it up, it's quite a way, like a drive from the main
- 59:03town that's close by. So yeah, you're not leaving. There's no where else to stay. No. You stay in the cave?
- 59:08Oh my god. No. The bad apartment. That night when I went to bed in my room, in my own room.
- 59:17I was 12 at the time. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get to sleep. The whole night, I just kept hearing
- 59:23the couple upstairs. Okay. Yelling at each other, stomping around and slamming doors.
- 59:30Were they stomping or were you 12 and you didn't know what those voices were? I don't know.
- 59:36When I talked to my parents the next morning about it, they told me they hadn't heard a thing.
- 59:44This being hard to believe because the couple was so loud. Oh boy. Chocking it up to maybe my imagination
- 59:52in a dream I made to match my uneasy feelings. I think the parents were too embarrassed. I think
- 1:00:01they did hear something and they were like, we didn't hear anything because we don't want to explain
- 1:00:10those voices. Well, I don't think they were sex noises. Well, we'll talk about it. That was my favorite
- 1:00:20theory. Or yeah, we'll go over it. It's kind of my only theory. So, well, I have one.
- 1:00:26My family and I brushed the incident off. As we were checking out, my dad who loves to share
- 1:00:35began retelling my tale to the receptionist who began to laugh. She just mentioned that the
- 1:00:41chateau was known for being haunted, which they didn't know this previously. Okay, that's right.
- 1:00:48All right. The only thing that convinced my parents I wasn't dreaming was after leaving the chateau,
- 1:00:54we looked up the story and then found out the tale of Elizabeth in her estranged fiancee. I don't know.
- 1:01:02Which I think they were married. I think they're already married. Yeah, they're newlyweds. Yeah.
- 1:01:07Right. Yeah. But you can see how overtime that sort of gets. It's like a game of time. Right.
- 1:01:12Right. Yeah. They're like married, engaged. Same thing. Tomato, tomato.
- 1:01:18Whose room just happened to be beside mine? So, they were staying right next to Elizabeth's room.
- 1:01:28So, my theory was that this was like the, them fighting about, you know, what had happened
- 1:01:38about him cheating on her and she was like, you a scoundrel. Yeah. He was like hearing the residual
- 1:01:43fight from that night. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah. Probably more sense than my theory, but like,
- 1:01:51I don't know. Because having angry sex, I don't know. They could have been still a residual
- 1:01:58haunting, fighting and having angry sex. Or maybe it's the sounds of him boning that housekeeper
- 1:02:05and then she'd find them and then they fight. Yeah. The wires or just like the wires got crossed
- 1:02:12and there's just like everything all of the events of that night just being funneled into
- 1:02:17well, all time is happening all at once. So, oh my god. Okay. I need some more. I'm just gonna say
- 1:02:25because anyone need a speaker drink for a drink. Alright, I have one more thing about the chateau
- 1:02:32and the caves. There's a recorded Bigfoot siding in the vicinity of the chateau. Really? Yes.
- 1:02:39There is a documentary from the dailycurrier.com on psychologist Matthew Johnson's Bigfoot siding
- 1:02:48at the Oregon caves. Really? Yes. Okay. And that's not just like any old yokel. I mean, he's a psychologist.
- 1:02:57Yeah. So that means he's like basically an expert in the outdoors. Yeah. You know?
- 1:03:02Just saying toast. Like, what are you gonna do when you find Bigfoot? Like, lay him on a couch and ask
- 1:03:13your about his childhood. I mean, maybe. I feel like I would. Why are you so anti-social? Yeah.
- 1:03:21You're very misunderstood. What would you like people to know about you? How do you feel about
- 1:03:28yeah? Anyway, that's possible. I guess. That was more Diane Sawyer than it was like psychologist, but
- 1:03:36yeah. You know, okay. Well, I know potato. I feel kind of bad. I'm not, I'm not like making fun of
- 1:03:41them. It's just like the situation about a psychologist. Like the fact that it's like a psychologist.
- 1:03:46Interesting. Yeah. But interesting. This man was actually kind of on the verge of tears talking
- 1:03:51about it because he was so scared witnessing what he thinks was Bigfoot. And he was like, everything I
- 1:03:59knew about the outdoors has like changed forever because of this thing I had witnessed that I previously,
- 1:04:05you know, didn't think was a thing that existed in the world and know what that does. Yeah. That does
- 1:04:11change your perception. I guess I didn't think about that. Yeah. It's kind of freaky. Yeah.
- 1:04:17There's also something called the Southern Oregon Bigfoot Experience. Okay. It's like a museum,
- 1:04:24like a Bigfoot Museum. Okay. That could be fun. I'm going. Okay. Now let's let's do. Let's go. We
- 1:04:31got to take another break. I have a name actually, but well, what if I tell you there's also Yeti's ice
- 1:04:39cream and treats in town? Wait, when they say Yadis, what are they? It's just the name of the ice
- 1:04:47cream place is Yadis. Yadis ice cream and treats. I was like, there's like a Yadis store and then also
- 1:04:53an ice cream shop. It's not like Yadis like your cups or, you know, but I was like, that's confusing
- 1:05:00in this context just because like Bigfoot and then we're talking about you, you get it. You get it.
- 1:05:05Yeah, but Yadis kind of like a big foot. It's like the same interchangeable, you know, that's what I
- 1:05:10was thinking. But Yadis are like in the snow. So it's like ice cream. Makes sense. Yes. Make
- 1:05:16a total sense. But they kind of, I think they should have named it Yadis ice cream and sweet treats.
- 1:05:23Because it just sounds like I keep wanting to say something more than treats. It just needs to be sweet
- 1:05:27treats, you know. They just go together. I like it. Well, anyway, that's my story and I think everyone
- 1:05:36should definitely go donate to the chateau to get this, get this lady rebuilt. Get her up and running
- 1:05:43again so we can stay in her gorgeousness. Give her a monterogical. Do you think we should do
- 1:05:54some tarot? Yeah. Let's do a little batty tarot. Yeah. Ooh. What does that entail? What's your
- 1:06:02batty shit? Batty shit. Let's get batty in this bitch. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So I went to shuffle and
- 1:06:13even though this deck is like the size of standard cards, um, had a couple of peppers there. So
- 1:06:22we've got two cards. We've laid out already on the altar and Cassie's, Cassie's wrapping up.
- 1:06:31We got the 10 of hearts in the two of diamonds as our poppers. All right. She's picking a card.
- 1:06:38Pick a card and he can't. Which card will it be? It's a frog. Okay. So I'm using not a tarot deck today,
- 1:06:48but I'm using a deck of cards called the cabinitarian. And it's like a weirdo creepy deck and we got it
- 1:07:00from the um hop scotch place in Portland. That's right. I knew I recognized her. Yeah. It's really cute.
- 1:07:08So the two poppers we had, Caitlin, do you want to read those first or should I? It's up to you.
- 1:07:15Let's, uh, let's, so I pulled a jack card or a Joker card. I was wondering if that's what it was.
- 1:07:24It has the pool. So I pulled the soul guard. I'm assuming because it has no label on it. So I'm assuming
- 1:07:32that that's it. All right. So lovely. Yeah. So we pulled the two of pentacles, which is diamonds,
- 1:07:39and then the 10 of cups, which is hearts. That's where my Nina second. That's fine.
- 1:07:47Because I'm a goldfish. Those are ones that fell out. Yeah. Okay. Catch two of pentacles. Our key
- 1:07:55words are balance, busyness, financial partnership, choices, ups and downs. Okay. Financial partnership.
- 1:08:06There are a need of that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some decks picture a person juggling two pentacles,
- 1:08:15which represents juggling different facets of your life. You're trying to keep many balls in the air.
- 1:08:21So to speak. Sometimes this card indicates making a choice between two things.
- 1:08:27Like maybe your wife and a brand new mistress. Right. Yeah. That's true.
- 1:08:34Should I go with the upright? Because there's not really an upright versus reverse. And
- 1:08:43I mean, there kind of is on these because they have a picture, but I don't know what way they
- 1:08:47fell out. So we'll just go with upright. Yeah. That's kind of what I was thinking. And I think
- 1:08:53I think I pulled the Joker card because it's like a frog being dissected. Hold on. Let me look at it.
- 1:08:58It's such a cool picture. But I was like, which way? Because, oh, I guess probably this way. So I
- 1:09:05drew it in reverse. Okay. So you guys know I drew it this way. So it falls off the way. Okay.
- 1:09:11The upright too can mean good fortune as a result of your ability to handle many things at once.
- 1:09:18You manage to balance work and play and feel content with your situation.
- 1:09:25Sometimes it shows you have many resources at your disposal and know how to use them well.
- 1:09:31So donate with confidence. Yeah. I feel like, yeah, I feel like this is mostly about the money
- 1:09:38situation and the rebuilding stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Which I feel like that's typical of pentacles. Yeah.
- 1:09:43In a reading about money, the upright too may mean doubling your money. Oh, yeah. I hope so.
- 1:09:49Well, doubling it because they need to pay a lot more. Right.
- 1:09:53Perhaps by joining forces with a partner, you can profit more than you could alone.
- 1:10:02In some cases, this card indicates two sources of income. So maybe they're going to start doing some
- 1:10:08haunting, spooky, creepy tours. Oh, that's another source of revenue. Right. Just a suggestion.
- 1:10:15I mean, they do do all those capetors. Yeah. Do do. There you go. Do do.
- 1:10:19If the reading is about your job, the two can represent balancing work with downtime.
- 1:10:26You need both to stay happy and healthy. It can also indicate a busy period when you have to juggle
- 1:10:33projects or duties. Doodies. Sometimes it suggests choosing between two job offers or opportunities.
- 1:10:41Oh, okay. So I the duality of it, I feel like we can see there's applications. Yeah.
- 1:10:48Yeah, and I'm sure they're juggling like what project do you do first? Yeah.
- 1:10:52One's going to be more important to like, yeah, the building structure. Yeah.
- 1:10:57To any number of concerns that you would have in this case, in a reading about love, this card
- 1:11:05may represent shared resources or working with a romantic partner.
- 1:11:09I mean, all other situations. If you're hanging out together still in the afterlife and
- 1:11:17holding by the way. I feel like honestly, he wouldn't be there. I feel like it would just be the
- 1:11:23chicks. That would be the ones to stay because he would be like off somewhere else, bang,
- 1:11:27and someone else in the afterlife. So frustrating. Perhaps running a business together. It's us.
- 1:11:35So working together, running a business together. It can also mean you're trying to balance your work
- 1:11:41and domestic life. Sometimes it indicates a choice between two partners. I wonder if they're
- 1:11:48getting someone else to like own it with them, maybe who's bringing more of financial support.
- 1:11:54Yeah. I mean, I really know what's going on with them, but yeah, possible. We're like, we don't know
- 1:11:58them personally. We don't just just be clear. Maybe if you're listening, maybe you do need to
- 1:12:03get someone else to help own the property with you. Partnership. A little idea from tarot, not from us.
- 1:12:11So if it goes wrong, don't blame us. Hashtag not financially best.
- 1:12:15Okay. And then our other card, use a 10 of cups, which is that family card where there's like
- 1:12:26a house in the distance. There's like two children playing. So I feel like maybe it is going to get
- 1:12:33like built up nice and new where families are going to come and stay again and
- 1:12:37legislate. It's going to be a happy place. I hope so. With life, the Chateau.
- 1:12:42Okay. So our keywords are comfort, happiness, domestic bliss, love and harmony.
- 1:12:54Oh my god, you guys. Yeah. Did I even talk about the, I might have talked about the chairs,
- 1:12:59but this card is a chair. And I don't know if you remember, they have like the special old chairs
- 1:13:07that they lost most of them in the flood. And so they're trying to like get more and rebuild them
- 1:13:13the way that they were. And we got a freaking chair card. That is wild. How funny. That is wild.
- 1:13:19Okay. All right. A card of fulfillment, which is a good sign, positive. The 10 of cups
- 1:13:29represents a happy home, where love and harmony abide. Some decks show a contented couple
- 1:13:36gazing at their beautiful home while their children play. Others picture the pair with flowers,
- 1:13:42rainbows and other symbols of love and hope. You could think of this as the happy ever after card.
- 1:13:49Like other tens, this card signifies a time of completion.
- 1:13:56Yay. Yay. Hopefully soon. Yeah. 2025.
- 1:14:04When you read the rewards of what you've sewn, life is good. Abundance in the true sense of the
- 1:14:11word is yours. I can't even imagine that feeling when they do open back up. Yeah. All of the stuff
- 1:14:18that they have gone through, it's going to happen. The cards are saying it's happening. I think so.
- 1:14:23Yeah. I mean, like gosh. Okay. In a reading about money, you're in a position of financial
- 1:14:30security and comfort, maybe because you brought in a partner. It's hard to say. Are we the partners?
- 1:14:36Are we going to own half of this stuff? Your efforts pay off. Sometimes this 10 represents
- 1:14:43family money and inheritance or marrying into wealth. We should all be so lucky. Okay.
- 1:14:49If the reading is about your job, the upright 10 heralds rewards, respect and recognition.
- 1:14:58We're recognizing you. We see you. We see you, Chateau. You're proud of what you've accomplished
- 1:15:08and content with your success. Aw. Well, yeah. It's pretty easy to be content with success.
- 1:15:13Can confirm from that one time. This card can also mean working in a successful family business.
- 1:15:23It's talking, I feel like in both of these card interpretations about sort of like a partnership
- 1:15:30being involved in business with someone who's close to you. You're going to be a vibe here. It's
- 1:15:37cool. Yeah. They go together. I love it. In a reading about love, this card represents a loving,
- 1:15:44supportive, joyful relationship. It indicates a happy family life where the people involved
- 1:15:51share love openly and feel secure in their situation. Maybe it's going to flip the whole story of
- 1:15:59this place on a tad a little bit. There's probably going to be no more shitty dudes cheating on
- 1:16:04their newlywed wives with the housekeepers. Right. Because I bet you all of these housekeepers since
- 1:16:12have been like, "Uh-oh." No. We heard what happened to the other housekeepers. She got taken advantage
- 1:16:18of by this one guy and it'll never happen again. Not today, Satan. Yeah. It wasn't her fault. She got
- 1:16:25taken advantage of by this dickhole. Okay. But they learned from her, not her mistake, his mistake.
- 1:16:32Yeah. From the mistake. Yeah. They learned from that situation where people were hurt and feelings were
- 1:16:41abused and people were not happy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But it was all the man's fault. Yeah.
- 1:16:49Smash the patriarchy. Where's my hammer necklace when I need it? Yeah. What are you going to do?
- 1:17:00Well, that's all I have for those two cards. Okay. Yeah. So let's go for the full reverse. I feel like
- 1:17:07these are more going to be the... Well, I was thinking about the ghost, but we'll see. We shall see.
- 1:17:14Okay. So keywords for the full innocence, beginnings, trust, hope, and opportunity. And I'm not going
- 1:17:25to read this crazy long intro on it because it describes mainly the traditional tarot and like
- 1:17:35that imagery. And also you guys, how many bajillions of times have we read that to you? Well, I can...
- 1:17:43I can picture. I do have something to say about the look of the card and then we can move on. But it's
- 1:17:48kind of like on like a rocky mountain side. Like a cliff. So like... That is. You know. There's probably a cave
- 1:17:54down at the bottom. Could be. Could be. I don't know. I like it. Wait. Hold on. Oh my god. I just remembered. My
- 1:18:02headphones were on the guys. Remember, I told you the story about how the cave was found by the man
- 1:18:08and his dog in the pool has a dog on it. It's like a man and his dog together in the wilderness.
- 1:18:15Okay. That's crazy. Mind a little bit flow. I'm so glad we're learning though because we... If we were
- 1:18:25just doing these cards because they don't have the normal imagery. Yeah. If we didn't have at least
- 1:18:29like the pool, it's kind of like an easy one to remember. But yeah. I'm glad we're learning because now we
- 1:18:34know like what the card should look like. We can relate it to the tarot print itself. I think a lot of
- 1:18:40this I don't really realize until in the moment. This is a really good. It's kind of a test, but it
- 1:18:47like in a less scary way. Like not when you try to go get your drivers for bit. You know. Yeah. Using the
- 1:18:53the deck that's not the usual tarot. Yeah. No things. Yeah. I feel like I'm absorbing more than I thought.
- 1:19:00We know things you guys. I'm so impressed with myself. I'm so glad even though we did this on a
- 1:19:07different day that I had recalled that story of the man and his dog finding the cave. That's so
- 1:19:12cool. I can't perfect remembered that. Me neither. Good for you. My brain is working. I love it.
- 1:19:20Okay. Interesting. If the pool is reversed, you may feel restless and bored. Eager to try something new.
- 1:19:30But now it's probably not the right time to act as it's your wedding night. Right. Or you're going
- 1:19:37out looking for a cave and you're looking for hunting and you find a bear cave. Yeah.
- 1:19:43I think of this as the don't quit your day job card. That's not to say what you want is wrong headed.
- 1:19:51But you need to consider the pros and cons carefully before you walk off that cliff.
- 1:19:56My other the other thing I was thinking of like when they started the construction of the building like
- 1:20:02they were just they knew they needed it because they're kind of like blindly going into all of these
- 1:20:07other things they didn't know were coming. Yeah. Oh boy. In reading about money, you may not have all
- 1:20:15the information you need to make a well-founded decision. And impulsive action could lead to a fall.
- 1:20:22Oh a fall like the like the whole building could fall down. Yeah.
- 1:20:26Someone may take advantage of your innocence. I mean I don't know. I feel it's pretty pointed.
- 1:20:34Yeah. Potentially of the wedding night. Yeah. The reverse fall can mean you're vacillating or overly
- 1:20:42cautious about money matters. If the reading is about your job, your current situation has probably
- 1:20:48led to a dead end or you've grown bored with your career path, you're on. It's time to strike out
- 1:20:55in a new direction. Don't do this hastily however. Gather information and explore possibilities.
- 1:21:02So you know some of the unexpected things I feel like you were talking about.
- 1:21:07Right. Or like with marrying someone I guess you don't really know because he turns out to be a
- 1:21:12dickhead. So maybe get all the dickhead information. Some more. Yeah. It's funny. You should say that.
- 1:21:18Yeah. I kind of was picking up a vibe here. Yeah. In a reading about love, this card can warn you to look
- 1:21:25more closely at a partner or relationship. Things may not be what you think. God damn it. I know. I
- 1:21:32don't like that. The reverse fall may also indicate the end of a relationship and greater freedom as a result.
- 1:21:40I mean, she was free. Yeah. Okay.
- 1:21:51Oh, okay. This feels kind of dark. I have chilees. Okay. I'm heave-dam-gee. I'm heave-dam-gee.
- 1:21:59Think before you act however, for you might regret a breakup undertaken hastily.
- 1:22:06I feel like you might regret a breakup with your own life taken hastily maybe. Yeah.
- 1:22:16Okay. Or on his side, like if he did push her out the window, like, you're gonna regret that, bro,
- 1:22:22because you I hope you went to hell. Yeah. Stay in hell and not the cool part. Like, okay, breakup,
- 1:22:28kind of an understatement in that case. Yeah. Okay. Well, that was really cool. I love it. God,
- 1:22:35I love it. We got the full card and then the freaking chair. Well, should we get out of here
- 1:22:39seeing you do your thing? Do my thing. She got a thing today. She was something to do. I like
- 1:22:45literally never have anything to do. No, it's usually me. I have a very important appointment.
- 1:22:51All right. Well, let's get her to it. All right. Have a creepy day. See you next Tuesday.
- 1:23:00Let's you get lost in a cave and lose matches and then lose a dog and don't say that. You have to
- 1:23:07live in a bear apartment forever. Oh, no. I mean, maybe it's snuggly. Did I mention I've a thing?
- 1:23:15Now I'm like, I'm gonna get lost. I don't like any of this. Don't get lost near any caves.
- 1:23:23I think I can manage that today. I hope. Bye.
- 1:23:33[Music]
- 1:23:43Oh, that was from the deep. I was thinking penis is maker's muse and you were like,
- 1:23:54oh, that was from the deep. Wait, penis is going to be-- Well, because we're talking about naked
- 1:24:00bike ride and the new season, I was going to be like, oh, penis is making you sneeze. I don't know.
- 1:24:06It's a dumb joke. It's like delicate lady-like sensibilities. Yeah.
- 1:24:12Yeah, I'm basically like a Texas school, Marm.
- 1:24:18She's naughty. She's nasty. We didn't say PNW if you nasty. We didn't-- I thought we did. No, we didn't.
- 1:24:28Anyway, well, can do a bit nasty and we are. [laughs] pnwhauntsandhomicides.com
