- 0:00Mark chapter 10, let us pray. Our Lord and our God, our King,
- 0:09you are so good. Thank you Jesus for another day.
- 0:13Thank you Jesus for waking us up.
- 0:15Thank you Jesus for setting us on our feet.
- 0:18Thank you Jesus, we have come here to worship you in spirit
- 0:22and truth. Lord, we are asking God for
- 0:25direction. Lord, we are acknowledging you,
- 0:28and we are asking God that you will direct our steps.
- 0:32She'll direct our paths. God, give us peace from on high.
- 0:35Lord, give us provision for today.
- 0:38Lord, I pray that you'll give us understanding from on high.
- 0:42Help us to see this world the way that you do.
- 0:45Father, I pray right now in the name of Jesus for peace upon
- 0:51this earth. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 0:54that we will receive the grace and the mercy and the love, God
- 0:58that you have for us. Lord, we pray that you will be
- 1:02for us and not against us. In the name of Jesus.
- 1:05Lord, I pray that we will be found faithful followers of you.
- 1:10God, we will be found locked eyes with you.
- 1:13We will be found with our hand to the plow.
- 1:15God, let us get out of the way of what you want to do today, of
- 1:20what you want to say today. Speak to us through your eternal
- 1:24words. Lord, speak to us today.
- 1:26Lord, help us to see these words as your breath upon this page.
- 1:31Father, help us to know that you're speaking loudly and
- 1:34boldly to us today. God, I pray that we, Lord, will
- 1:38be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
- 1:42God, let this word wash over our minds.
- 1:44Father, make us new. Father, make us a new creation.
- 1:48God, give us a new heart. Give us a clean heart.
- 1:51God, give us clean hands. Father, I pray, Lord, that no
- 1:55sin will be counted against us on that day, Father and I pray
- 2:00in the name of Jesus that today will be the day of salvation for
- 2:03many. Father, I pray God that we will
- 2:06see you correctly, that we will see you as our Savior.
- 2:10We will see you as the Lord of Lords and the King of kings,
- 2:15that you are the long-awaited Messiah.
- 2:17And that Lord, we put our whole faith in you, our whole trust in
- 2:21you. God, we say yes and Amen to all
- 2:24of these words and to all of these promises.
- 2:27Lord, you are Lord Jesus, you are Lord, and we love you.
- 2:31King Jesus, we set our eyes upon you, we set our faces like a
- 2:36Flint towards you. Father, let your Kingdom come
- 2:41and let your will be done here on this earth just as it is
- 2:45there in heaven. Father, Father, us, Lord, we
- 2:49love you. Yes.
- 2:50Jesus. Yeshua, I'm Messiah, we love
- 2:54you. Ellion.
- 2:56Yes. Maranatha, come, Lord, come.
- 3:00The spirit and the bride say come.
- 3:03We love you, Jesus, we love you. Holy Spirit, teach us today.
- 3:08Holy Spirit, well up within us today.
- 3:11Holy Spirit, guide us today. Holy Spirit, discipline us
- 3:15today. Holy Spirit, give us discernment
- 3:18for these words. Lord, we love you.
- 3:21And it's in Jesus Christ, holy and precious name that we pray.
- 3:26Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 3:31And he arose from there, and came unto the coast of Judea by
- 3:36the farther side of Jordan. And the people resorted unto him
- 3:40again and he was won't he taught them again.
- 3:45Here comes Jesus on the scene. Here he comes.
- 3:48Look at him. He's dawning on the horizon.
- 3:51Friends, look at how King Jesus is so loving and he teaches
- 3:57them. You know, most of Mark has been
- 4:00all the things that Jesus did. And we're going to get to see a
- 4:03little bit of what he talked about, a little bit of his
- 4:06teachings here in chapter 10. Let's keep moving.
- 4:10Verse 2. And the Pharisees came to him
- 4:13and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife,
- 4:18tempting him? So we can see that their motive
- 4:21was impure. Their motives were to trap him
- 4:26in his words. But King Jesus can never be
- 4:29trapped. He is power all, sufficient
- 4:31sacrifice. He is omniscient and He knew
- 4:34what they were doing. And you cannot fool God.
- 4:38You cannot hide from God. You cannot compartmentalize your
- 4:42life, friends, you cannot take something and hide it away
- 4:47because God sees everything laid naked and bare.
- 4:50Go ahead and confess it to Him today.
- 4:52Go ahead and tell him all of your emotions.
- 4:55God is strong enough and God is big enough to absorb all all of
- 5:01your questions, all of your emotions.
- 5:04Friends, you can pour it out. Give them all your doubts,
- 5:09friends. Give them all the things that
- 5:11you are holding on to, all the unforgiveness.
- 5:14Give them all of the hatred that's in your heart.
- 5:17Give them all of the jealousy. Give them all of your doubts,
- 5:21friends. Give him all of it.
- 5:24And watch how He instills in you a clean and a new heart.
- 5:28Watch how He instills in you a peace that surpasses all
- 5:32understanding. Friends, when we come to Him and
- 5:35we acknowledge Him as the great I am, as our Lord, as Yahweh,
- 5:43the Supreme Yahweh, forever and ever everlasting.
- 5:48When you acknowledge Him as your Lord, watch how he gives you all
- 5:54the things that you've ever wanted, and he makes you lie
- 5:58down in green pastures. Friends.
- 6:00And he leads you besides still waters, friends.
- 6:03And he guards you, friends. And he will be your shepherd,
- 6:08and he will make sure that even when you're walking in the
- 6:11valley of death, He will be there to comfort you.
- 6:15Friends, if you will just turn it all over to them.
- 6:18Look at how they were trying to trap King Jesus.
- 6:21He could not be trapped. He is God, He is Lord.
- 6:26He knew their thoughts. 3 And he answered and said unto them,
- 6:31What did Moses command you? And they said verse 4, Moses
- 6:36suffered to write a bill of divorcement and to put her away.
- 6:40So we've talked about this there back in Matthew and Matthew, his
- 6:45gospel actually actually expounded upon this moment a
- 6:48little bit more than Mark does. Mark is a fast track through the
- 6:52gospel through the Mark is a fast track through the ministry
- 6:56of Jesus Christ. And here they are trying to trap
- 7:02Jesus into either siding with the Rabbi Shammai or siding with
- 7:09the Rabbi Hillel. And these were the two thought
- 7:12processes of the day. And one said you could put your
- 7:15wife away from burning your breakfast.
- 7:18And the other one was a little bit more prudent and said no,
- 7:21only for infidelity. And here Jesus is going to show
- 7:26them that they air greatly by trying to trap him.
- 7:31He is going to show them that God, God is the one who
- 7:34institutes marriage and God is the only one that can cast it
- 7:39asunder. God is the only one that can
- 7:43deem you divorced. Man cannot do that.
- 7:46Court cannot do that. A lawyer cannot do that.
- 7:49Only God can do that. And there are many people who
- 7:52have gone through with divorce for the wrong reasons.
- 7:56Because it got hard and God was desirous to actually pull things
- 8:02out of you and he was going to use your mate.
- 8:05But when things got hard, you tuck tail and you ran.
- 8:07And there's a lot of people who have not seen themselves in the
- 8:13right light that they have actually committed adultery,
- 8:17that they have actually caused their spouse to commit adultery.
- 8:21And Jesus is going to expand, expound upon that.
- 8:24And ultimately what we need is we need forgiveness.
- 8:28We need to ask for forgiveness. We need to make sure that we see
- 8:31ourselves as those that have erred grievously.
- 8:37We need to see ourselves in the light of what Jesus here is
- 8:41trying to paint, which is that there are many people who see
- 8:46themselves as divorce, but in God's eyes they are not in G5.
- 8:53And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your
- 8:57heart, he wrote you this precept.
- 9:00So He was not mandating divorce. He was actually giving them the
- 9:07permission to do so only by the defilement of the marriage bed.
- 9:17Whenever there was infidelity, Friends, this was the only
- 9:22reason, and Jesus talked about it there back in Matthew six.
- 9:28He takes them all the way back to the beginning.
- 9:31He takes them all the way back to the garden. 6 But from the
- 9:36beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.
- 9:41There's not 1/3 option here, friends, It's only male and
- 9:44female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother,
- 9:50and cleave to his wife? 8 And the two shall be 1 flesh.
- 9:55So then they are no more, 2 but one flesh. 9 What therefore God
- 10:01has joined together. Let no man put us under.
- 10:06So here Jesus is taking them back to the beginning.
- 10:09He's showing them that God is the one that institutes
- 10:13marriage. This is not a man made
- 10:15institution. And you can see why the enemy
- 10:19has tried to hijack it. You can see the strength in a
- 10:22family unit when the father and the mother choose to stay
- 10:25together, whenever the children are raised in the house with the
- 10:29same mother and father. And you can see how it's a unit.
- 10:34You can see how this goes and touches generations upon
- 10:38generations. And the enemy is attacking the
- 10:42family unit. The enemy hates marriage, the
- 10:45enemy hates family. And he will do everything within
- 10:49his power to try to break up a home, to try to get the father
- 10:53to get upset and to leave, to try to get the mother to get
- 10:57upset and to leave. And Jesus says unless there is
- 11:00infidelity, there is no grounds for divorce, friends.
- 11:05And so it if your mate is abusive, whether it is
- 11:10physically, if your mate is abusive, whether it is
- 11:14emotionally, if your mate is abusive in all the ways friends,
- 11:20we need to get them help. We need to separate from them.
- 11:25We need to get into a safe place.
- 11:29We need to leave them, but do not seek divorce.
- 11:33Get them help. Friends, get that person help.
- 11:36Friends, get them counseling, get them into a rehab, get them
- 11:40into the place where they can see the air of their way.
- 11:45Do not go back and put yourself in harm's way, but just know
- 11:49that God still sees you as married and a lot of people
- 11:54would do very well to see that. They have aired grievously in
- 12:00the idea of thinking that they are divorced, when in all of
- 12:05actuality, God has never seen them that way.
- 12:09And there are many things that come up in your life where you
- 12:14can see that the Lord still sees you as married.
- 12:17And it does not mean that you go running back to that person if
- 12:20you have married somebody else, because then by marrying someone
- 12:24else, you've already committed the act of infidelity.
- 12:31So you are one way or another, you've already got the out that
- 12:37the Lord said that God would see you as being divorced.
- 12:44So yes, this is a hard teaching from Jesus.
- 12:49These are Jesus's thoughts on marriage.
- 12:53This is God's institution on marriage, and you can see why it
- 12:57is under attack. You can see why it is being
- 13:00misconstrued. You can see why it is such a
- 13:05grievous thing. Whenever we have people in the
- 13:09highest offices that are saying that it is OK for two men to be
- 13:14married or two women to be married, you can see hear
- 13:17Jesus's words. You can see here what God had
- 13:20instituted. One man and one woman and God is
- 13:24the one who marries them. It is not a certificate.
- 13:28It is not a legal document. It is not a binding document.
- 13:33God is the one who marries them, friends.
- 13:36And yes, we need to go through all the processes of it, but we
- 13:40need to know that ultimately God is the one who can join the two
- 13:44together as one flesh, and God is is the one who puts them
- 13:48asunder. And we would do well friends, to
- 13:51remember Jesus words here. 10 And in the house his disciples
- 13:58asked him again of the same matter. 11 And he said unto
- 14:02them, Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another
- 14:06commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away
- 14:11her husband and be married to another, she commits adultery.
- 14:15It's plain as the nose on your face, friends.
- 14:20It's a long winded, roundabout way to wrap up two verses in. 11
- 14:26Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another commits
- 14:31adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away her
- 14:35husband and be married to another, she commits adultery.
- 14:39And this is not the unpardonable sin, friends.
- 14:43This is not the unforgivable sin, friends.
- 14:46This is not a stigma upon you if you've been divorced.
- 14:50It is very simple. You just need to ask for
- 14:55forgiveness and receive that forgiveness and see that you
- 14:58were in air and you need to go to the Lord and you need to have
- 15:04cleansing and see marriage the way that He does, so that when
- 15:09you get married again, you can lock in, you can finish well.
- 15:13You can restore the years that the locust has eaten and be
- 15:20there for your children and be there for your wife and be the
- 15:25man that God has called you to be.
- 15:30Thirteen. And they brought young children
- 15:33to him that he should touch them.
- 15:35And his disciples rebuke those that brought them.
- 15:39They were bringing their children to Jesus to be blessed.
- 15:43And the disciples were thinking, Well, he's not here for the
- 15:46little children. He's here to be the political
- 15:51leader of his own Kingdom that he's about to establish.
- 15:54They had missed the whole point, friends.
- 15:57They were still thinking that Jesus is about to institute his
- 16:00Kingdom. 14 And when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and
- 16:06said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me,
- 16:11and forbid them not for of such as the Kingdom of God.
- 16:15We already have learned in the previous chapters that unless
- 16:19you become like a little child, you shall not enter into the
- 16:23Kingdom of God. And if you offend one of these
- 16:26little ones, it would be better for you to tie a millstone
- 16:29around your neck, and to be drowned in the sea.
- 16:32Friends, Jesus holds these children in high regard, and we
- 16:37need to have faith like little children.
- 16:39Think about how a little child is, and think about how they are
- 16:43not worried about where their next meal is going to come from.
- 16:47They trust that their meals are going to be provided for, that
- 16:51their clothing is going to be provided for, that their housing
- 16:54is going to be provided for. And we would do well to be
- 16:57content with food and clothing friends, knowing that it comes
- 17:02from our Father in heaven who loves us and He knows our needs
- 17:06before we even ask Him friends. And here the disciples would do
- 17:11well, well to see that their faith needs to become more like
- 17:16these little children. 15 Truly, I say unto you, who's whosoever
- 17:23shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, he shall
- 17:27not enter therein. So there it is, friends, we must
- 17:31become like these little kids. We must become like these little
- 17:34children. Friends, we must have that kind
- 17:37of faith, that very simple faith.
- 17:39And yes, it is OK to swim in the deep end, but just know you're
- 17:43never going to touch the bottom and it's always going to come
- 17:46back around to the same principle.
- 17:49Unless you have faith, like a child, you shall not enter.
- 17:53How does the moon just stay in the sky and it doesn't fall?
- 17:57How does it just stay there? Friends, we trust that it's just
- 18:01hung on nothing. It's that same childlike faith.
- 18:06Friends, whenever we're thinking about eternity, when we're
- 18:09approaching this word, friends, we need to know that we know
- 18:12that we know that we know that God is real.
- 18:15We need to know that we know that we know that we know that
- 18:18Jesus is our Savior. We need to know that we know
- 18:22that we know that we know that the Holy Spirit lives within us.
- 18:26And we need to know that we know that we know that.
- 18:29We know that when we die, we're going to bust heaven wide open
- 18:33and praise God. Hallelujah, we love you, King
- 18:36Jesus. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon
- 18:42them, and he blessed them. Praise the Lord.
- 18:45This touch from Jesus is all that we need to be cleansed and
- 18:49to be made whole and to be healed from all of our
- 18:52infirmities, friends. And we can stand straight up, We
- 18:56can gird up our loins and stand in his presence because of this
- 19:00touch from him, friends. 17 And when he was gone forth into the
- 19:04way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him,
- 19:09Good Master, what shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life?
- 19:16This was not a title that someone would just give a rabbi.
- 19:23This was likening Jesus to God. This rich young ruler was coming
- 19:32to Jesus and acknowledging him as God and Lord, and he's asking
- 19:41what he should do. 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why do you call
- 19:47me good? There is none good but one, and
- 19:50that is God. He wanted him to make sure that
- 19:54he knew what he was saying. He's saying, listen, you are
- 19:58calling me God. And by calling me God, you will
- 20:08have to listen to what I'm about to say.
- 20:11You cannot discount it if you believe that Jesus is part of
- 20:18the Trinity. If He is God Incarnate, then
- 20:25what He says has supreme importance and you cannot cherry
- 20:30pick the verses and you cannot just form your theology off of
- 20:35some parts of what Jesus said and leave out the rest that are
- 20:39hard and does not fit your lifestyle.
- 20:42And that's what this rich young ruler is trying to do here.
- 20:47And we will see that in a minute.
- 20:49And look around, friends, we have an entire generation of
- 20:56rich young rulers and they nod at God, but they only want to
- 21:03obey the things that fit into their lifestyle, and it does not
- 21:07work that way. 19 You know, the commandments do not commit
- 21:19adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false
- 21:29witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.
- 21:36So here Jesus is taking him to the second-half of the
- 21:40commandments, and here Jesus is not even talking about the first
- 21:45five. He just was talking about the
- 21:50things that we could do in the outward that could be measured
- 21:54here. And let's see how this rich
- 21:57young ruler responded. 20 And he answered and said unto him,
- 22:02Master, all these I've obtained I've observed from my youth.
- 22:10So here this rich young ruler is saying, well, if that's the
- 22:15requirements, I'm good. And there are a lot of people
- 22:19like that. They are the 99 sheep who do not
- 22:22see their need for repentance. And I tell you, there is more
- 22:28rejoicing over 1 Sinner who sees his need for repentance than for
- 22:33the 99 who do not. They are sitting on their
- 22:37blessed assurance. They are going to try to enter
- 22:41into the Kingdom of God by Grandma's faith, by the pastor's
- 22:46faith, by how many Bibles they have in their house.
- 22:49And it does not work that way. It is not about our church
- 22:55attendance or if our name is on a roll somewhere, friends.
- 23:00It is about obedience unto this word, friends.
- 23:03It's about being cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, friends, and
- 23:08producing much fruit. 21 In Jesus, beholding him, loved him,
- 23:16and said unto him, One thing you lack, Go your way, sell
- 23:23whatsoever you have, give to the poor, and you shall have
- 23:27treasure in heaven, and come and take up the cross, and follow
- 23:32me. He's telling this rich young
- 23:36ruler that to follow him means death to self in here.
- 23:44This is where a lot of us hang in the balance, Friends.
- 23:49We are in suspended animation. Friends, many of us are
- 23:55perplexed by this crossroads. When we get here, we don't want
- 24:00to go to hell, but we don't want to give up our lifestyle.
- 24:07We want to have our cake and we want to eat it too.
- 24:10We want to make sure that we're going to make it there.
- 24:13But we sure like all of our comforts and pleasures.
- 24:20We sure like all of the things this world can provide.
- 24:25And it does not work that way, friends.
- 24:27It does not work that way, friends.
- 24:33You cannot serve both God and Mammon.
- 24:37You cannot serve both God and money.
- 24:39You will love 1 and you will hate the other.
- 24:43So if you love God, you hate money because of the division
- 24:48that it causes. And God knows what we need
- 24:51before we even ask Him and who the sun sets.
- 24:54Free is free indeed. Friends, we need to owe no man
- 24:59nothing. Naked you came into this world
- 25:03and naked you will leave it. You will not take anything with
- 25:06you. Friends.
- 25:07And yes, we should leave an inheritance for our children,
- 25:10but leave the inheritance of the faith that you had in your life.
- 25:15Let that be the currency that you operate out of.
- 25:18Friend 22 And he was sad at that scene, and he went away grieved,
- 25:25for he had great possessions, and these great possessions
- 25:28greatly possessed him, and he was not willing to let go of
- 25:33them. What a word for us.
- 25:37What a word for this hour. What a word for this time, for
- 25:40such a time as this. Friends, we need to know that
- 25:43God is the one who provides your very next breath, your very next
- 25:47heartbeat. We're not promised tomorrow, for
- 25:50life is a vapor. 23 And Jesus looked round about, and he said
- 25:56unto his disciples, How hard shall they that have riches
- 26:03enter into the Kingdom of God? It is possible, but it is the
- 26:11exception to the rule. 24 And the disciples were astonished at
- 26:16his words. But Jesus answered again, and
- 26:19said unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust
- 26:25in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God?
- 26:35When we place our faith in our finances, it diminishes and
- 26:41decreases the need for God. When you see your worth as in
- 26:49your bank account, you do not see your worth as a child of the
- 26:53Most High God who has the cattle on 1000 hills, who can provide
- 26:58for you lavishly, and it might not be monetarily. 25 It is
- 27:05easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a
- 27:10rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.
- 27:14You cannot squeeze a camel through the eye of a needle,
- 27:19friends. And he's saying that is what it
- 27:22is like. That is the plausibility of a
- 27:27rich man making it into the Kingdom of God.
- 27:32Blessed are the poor, blessed are the meek, blessed are the
- 27:37humble. Friends, we need to know where
- 27:42everything comes from. We need to know that God is our
- 27:46provider. We need to trust Him with
- 27:49little. We need to be like the widow who
- 27:51gives everything that she had to live on, friends.
- 27:56And watch how Jesus notices you and watch how he turns his face
- 28:02towards you and watch how things go well for you in this
- 28:06lifetime. Friends, whenever we trust the
- 28:10Lord God Almighty, in all circumstances, in all things,
- 28:14for every day, for our very provisions, for this day,
- 28:18friends, give it all over to Him.
- 28:21Nothing held back, nothing behind your back, nothing
- 28:28withheld from Him. Give it all to Him open
- 28:32handedly. Do not be like the bear who
- 28:36would not let go of the honey inside of the tree.
- 28:40Just open your palms up and release what you have to him and
- 28:46watch how so much peace comes flooding in to your life.
- 28:53Friends 26 They were astonished out of measure, saying among
- 29:04themselves, who then can be saved?
- 29:06It was a common theme in that day and age that the rich were
- 29:13thought to be the most blessed by God.
- 29:17It is no different in our day. It's no different in our hour.
- 29:20We even worship those who are so godless because of how much
- 29:24money they have. They become idols in our lives,
- 29:28Friends, and it should not be so.
- 29:31And we are pushing God to the back burner because our eyes are
- 29:35locked in on heavenly riches. Be lovers of money and lovers of
- 29:42self and lovers of pleasure, and we do not care about God.
- 29:50We need to turn our eyes away from self and away from luxury
- 29:56and away from money, and away from mammon, and lock eyes with
- 30:00him, and walk with him on the water, and let him lead you
- 30:04home. 27 And Jesus looking upon them, said, With men it is
- 30:12impossible, but not with God, for with God all things are
- 30:16possible. Underline it.
- 30:17Highlight it. This is the whole matter of the
- 30:23whole question of the whole thing is with God.
- 30:27Nothing is impossible. If you are working out of your
- 30:30own strength, you're going to be perpetually frustrated.
- 30:33But give it all over to God and trust Him, friends.
- 30:36Trust him in the process. Do not be so tight fisted and
- 30:41clenched fisted. You need to release, release,
- 30:45release. Let go and let God work it out
- 30:48friends. He is a good father, He loves
- 30:51well. 28th Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left
- 30:59all, and have followed you. 29 And Jesus answered and said,
- 31:03Truly I say unto you, There is no man that has left house,
- 31:07brothers, sisters, father, mother, wife, children, land,
- 31:12for my sake and the Gospels. 30 But he shall receive a
- 31:15hundredfold. Now in this time, houses,
- 31:19brothers, sisters, mothers, children land with persecutions,
- 31:24and in the world to come eternal life. 31 But many that are first
- 31:29shall be last in the last first. That was a lesson that we
- 31:32touched on in the last chapter or so.
- 31:36And what Peter is saying is what will we get for leaving
- 31:40everything if it's not riches, if it's not possessions and
- 31:49Jesus being a good, loving and faithful Lord, Master God, he
- 31:58turns and says in this lifetime you will have a hundredfold.
- 32:03And what does that look like, friends?
- 32:05When we start seeing the world around us the way that God does,
- 32:09you're going to see that everything on this earth is gods
- 32:14and everybody in it, and everything belongs to Him.
- 32:18There is nothing in this entire world, the richest underneath
- 32:22the earth, the ores of gold and silver of everything above us in
- 32:27the Galaxy. There is nothing that is not His
- 32:30friends. Everything belongs to Him.
- 32:33And when you are a child of Him, it is your inheritance.
- 32:35And you need to know that God lavishly provides for us a
- 32:40hundredfold, A thousandfold, a billion fold.
- 32:43And there is no lack in the Father's house and He can do
- 32:47mighty things. And you need to know that
- 32:49whenever you are yoked up with Jesus that everything is
- 32:53available to you. And you need to know that He is
- 32:56going to take care of you. And you don't need to sit and
- 33:00count the pennies. Friends, we need to know that
- 33:04everything belongs to Him. The oceans belong to Him, the
- 33:07continents belong to Him. There is nothing that is not
- 33:11His, and it is His to give to us whenever we can steward it and
- 33:15steward it well. And if you're faithful with
- 33:17little, you'll be faithful with much.
- 33:19But make sure you take care of the little that He's given you
- 33:22first, and watch how He grows your circle of influence.
- 33:27Watch how He grows the dominion that He has entrusted to you
- 33:30friends. And you need to know that in
- 33:35order to obtain that, you need to wash the feet of your
- 33:43brothers and sisters, your loved ones.
- 33:45You need to take the lowly position.
- 33:48You need to take the humble position.
- 33:50You need to take the path of humility, friends, and watch how
- 33:54God exalts you in due time, friends. 32 and and they were in
- 33:59the way, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them, and
- 34:04they were amazed, and as they followed, they were afraid.
- 34:09And he took again the 12 and began to tell them what things
- 34:12should happen unto him. Look at the zeal of his house
- 34:16that has consumed Jesus. He set his face like a Flint,
- 34:20friends, towards Jerusalem. He knew what was about to
- 34:23happen, and here he is going to tell them.
- 34:26He's going to make it plain. 33 Saying, Be we go up to
- 34:30Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered unto the
- 34:34chief priest and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn
- 34:37him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles. 34 And they
- 34:41shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon
- 34:46him, and shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again.
- 34:50How much more plain can he make it?
- 34:53Friends? He is talking to little
- 34:55children. He is talking to the elementary
- 34:57school class. He is telling them line by line
- 35:01what is going to happen, and He's doing it in the sequence.
- 35:04And there is nothing here that is parabolic.
- 35:07It is all plain as the nose on their faces.
- 35:11And Jesus is so loving and so kind as to tell them exactly
- 35:15what is to happen. And they missed it. 35 And James
- 35:22and John, the sons of Zebedee, came unto him, saying, Master,
- 35:26we would, that you should do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
- 35:3236 And he said unto them, What would you that I should do for
- 35:36you? 37 And they said unto him, Grant
- 35:39unto us that we may sit one on your right hand, and the other
- 35:43on your left hand, in your glory here.
- 35:46They thought that he was going into Jerusalem to usurp the
- 35:50Roman authority there in the land and to put his Kingdom in
- 35:55place. They had missed the whole mark.
- 35:58They wanted the places of authority.
- 36:01They wanted the places of the special positions next to him.
- 36:06Let's see what Jesus says. 38 But Jesus said unto them, You
- 36:11know not what you ask, Can you drink of the cup that I drink
- 36:15of, and be baptized with the baptism that I'm baptized with?
- 36:1939 And they said unto him, We can.
- 36:22And Jesus said unto them, You shall indeed drink of the cup
- 36:26that I drink of, and with the baptism that I am baptized with
- 36:30all shall you be baptized? 40 But to sit on my right hand
- 36:35and on my left hand is not mine to give, but it shall be given
- 36:39to them for whom it is prepared. So we need to know what this
- 36:44whole little scene is about. It seems like every single time
- 36:48that Jesus tries to tell them of the plan, the heavenly plan that
- 36:53God has given him and the timeline and what is to come,
- 36:57every single time they get it wrong and they try to rebuke him
- 37:02and they try to ask for these special seats of honor.
- 37:05And Jesus here, he must be grieved that the disciples still
- 37:09didn't understand it. And let's not be too hard on
- 37:12them, friends, because they had not yet received the Holy Spirit
- 37:15like you and I have. They had not yet received the
- 37:18full counsel of God's Word like you and I have.
- 37:21Friends, They were not 2000 years removed from this event to
- 37:25have 2000 years of time to study upon this passage in this
- 37:29Scripture to understand stand it like we have today.
- 37:32Friends, let's not be too hard on them.
- 37:35They were just trying to get what they thought was their due
- 37:39for leaving everything and coming and following this rabbi.
- 37:45And they would have done well to remember the words of Peter
- 37:49before he got rebuked whenever he said you are the Christ, the
- 37:53Son of God, and you have the words of eternal life.
- 37:56And where else would we go, friends?
- 38:02The 41 And when the 10 heard it, they began to be much displeased
- 38:09with James and John. Perhaps they were jealous.
- 38:12Perhaps they didn't think of it. Perhaps they thought that they
- 38:20had received some kind of special blessing for the baptism
- 38:23that they were going to have to endure.
- 38:25And we know that James was the first martyr of the disciples,
- 38:29and we know that John was outcasted to the island of
- 38:35Patmos. We know that they did have to
- 38:40endure persecution. Friends 42 But Jesus called them
- 38:47to him, and said unto them, You know that they which are
- 38:52accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over
- 38:57them, and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43
- 39:02But so shall it not be among you, but whosoever will be great
- 39:09among you shall be your minister. 44 And whosoever of
- 39:13you will be the chiefest shall be servant of all. 45 For even
- 39:18the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to
- 39:21minister, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- 39:25Here we see the principle outlined once again that the
- 39:28first shall be last and the last shall be first.
- 39:32And the low path is the way to be exalted, friends.
- 39:36If you try to exalt yourself, you will be humbled.
- 39:40But if you will humble yourselves, you will be exalted
- 39:43as an upside down, inside out kind of Kingdom, friends.
- 39:47And we need to understand the ways of God and how he operates.
- 39:51And it is pride, pride, pride and more pride that creeps in to
- 39:56a person into a congregation. It creeps into a land and over a
- 40:01government. It is.
- 40:02Is pride that will always get us dealt with.
- 40:07When we develop these places of pride and think of ourselves as
- 40:12more than we ought to, we will be humbled and humiliated
- 40:16friends, and that is what we need to guard ourselves against
- 40:22the most Supreme. We see that Jesus did come to
- 40:28give his life as a ransom. He was the all sufficient
- 40:32perfect sacrifice, the atonement for all of our sins, and our
- 40:37sins were cast as far as the east is to the West, and blessed
- 40:42is the man whose sins will never be counted against him because
- 40:45of what Jesus did. 46 And they came to Jericho, and as he went
- 40:53out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of
- 40:57people, blind, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the
- 41:01highway side, begging. Oh, Lord Jesus, please, Lord
- 41:07Jesus, please heal us, make us whole, protect our families,
- 41:13bring the wayward children home. God, please take this cancer out
- 41:19of our bodies. Please bring our spouses back.
- 41:23Please put them back in their right mind.
- 41:27Please, Father, we beg of thee. We love you, Jesus.
- 41:31Here's Bartimaeus begging on the highway side when he sees Jesus
- 41:36coming through. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
- 41:41he began to cry out and say, Jesus, you son of David, have
- 41:45mercy on me. He gave him his rightful
- 41:47messianic title, And even the Pharisees missed it, and the
- 41:51Herodians missed it, and the Sadducees missed it.
- 41:57Even the disciples had missed it.
- 42:01And here Bartimaeus is blind, and he hears this Jesus of
- 42:05Nazareth, the branch, and he's coming through.
- 42:08And he cries out, and he gives him his rightful messianic
- 42:11title, Son of David, have mercy on me. 48 And many charged him
- 42:18that he should hold his peace, but he cried the more a great
- 42:21deal. You, son of David, have mercy on
- 42:24me. He cried out even louder.
- 42:28He would not let them shut him up.
- 42:32He cried out all the louder. And sometimes when the miracle
- 42:36doesn't happen, we cry out all the louder.
- 42:40Friends, you knock and knock and knock until God comes through.
- 42:46Friends, have mercy on me. 49 And Jesus stood still and
- 42:54commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man,
- 42:58saying unto him, Be of good comfort.
- 43:00Rise. He calls you.
- 43:03He's calling out to you today if you have breath in your lungs.
- 43:07Friends, if you have breath in your lungs, he's crying out.
- 43:11You should cry out to Him and receive your healing.
- 43:15Receive your sight. Let the scales fall off your
- 43:19eyes. Let the plugs be unstopped from
- 43:22your ears. Friends, if you have breath in
- 43:25your lungs, Jesus is passing by. Cry out to Him.
- 43:29Friends, cry out all the louder. Do not be satisfied with the no.
- 43:37Cry out even louder. Be of good cheer.
- 43:42You have breath in your lungs and it's not too late.
- 43:46Give up all of the sins that you're holding so close to that
- 43:52you find your identity in. Give them up, friends.
- 43:56Let go of the chains that are binding you friends and all the
- 44:00false identity friends of all of your propensities into your fits
- 44:07of rage and anger of your childhood trauma.
- 44:10Let let it go and be healed today.
- 44:13Receive your healing today. Be of good comfort today because
- 44:17you have another day and his mercies are new everyday
- 44:21friends. Be of good comfort.
- 44:26Rise. He calls you 50 And he casting
- 44:30away his garment, and came to Jesus.
- 44:34And Jesus answered and said unto him, What will you that I should
- 44:38do unto you? And he asked you the same thing.
- 44:42What is it that you want from me?
- 44:45Be bold in your prayer life. Friends, increase your prayer
- 44:49life. Friends, do not let your prayer
- 44:52life go by the wayside. Friends, increase the dialogue.
- 44:56Increase the time that you spend on your face with God.
- 45:01Cry out to Him all the more when the healing doesn't come, when
- 45:05the blessing doesn't come, when the miracle doesn't happen.
- 45:09Do not be satisfied in the know if you have another day to wake
- 45:13up, be blessed, be of good cheer.
- 45:16Just know that you have another day to worship Him, and to come
- 45:22to Him in spirited truth, and to receive your healing, and to
- 45:26receive the miracle. The blind man said unto him,
- 45:34Lord, that I may receive my sight.
- 45:38And that is what we all need. We need to be able to see. 52
- 45:44And Jesus said unto him, Go your way, your faith has made you
- 45:49whole. And immediately he received his
- 45:51sight and followed Jesus in the way.
- 45:54That is a literal passage that literally happened for
- 46:01Bartimaeus. He cried all the more.
- 46:03But it is for us today, friends, we need to receive the healing
- 46:08and to be made whole and to be able to see, friends, we need a
- 46:12miracle today. We need to be able to see this
- 46:14world the way that God does. We need to be able to see this
- 46:18world all around us with the eyes of faith to be able to know
- 46:23what to do and when to do it and how to do it and how to love our
- 46:26neighbor as our self. We have a mission field all
- 46:30around us. Receive your healing today, for
- 46:35His mercies are new. Call upon that name and be
- 46:38saved. Call upon that name and be made
- 46:42whole. He loves you.
- 46:46I hope you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 46:48I know I sure have. Praying for every single one of
- 46:51you. I love you.
- 46:53We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 46:59God bless you.
