Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Please direct your attention to the ice for the presentation
- 0:04Speaker 1: of the con smythe Trophy to the most Valuable player
- 0:07Speaker 1: of the twenty twenty five Stanley Cup Playoffs.
- 0:14Speaker 2: That evening, South Florida. It feels like we just did this.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Let's congratulate the Oilers and the Panthers for a terrific
- 0:29Speaker 3: rematch of the.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Stanley Cup Final.
- 0:36Speaker 3: The com smythe Trophy goes to the most valuable player
- 0:40Speaker 3: in the playoffs. It's only fitting that this year it
- 0:46Speaker 3: goes to the leading goal scorer.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Sam Bennett.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Sham Perrit wins the Copspy Trophy. Scored fifteen goals were
- 1:08Speaker 4: in the postseason, including five in the Stanley Cup Final.
- 1:20Speaker 5: Timing is everything.
- 1:22Speaker 6: An unrestricted free agent on July first, does he get there?
- 1:28Speaker 6: A lot of people feel that he will be back
- 1:31Speaker 6: here in Florida. But I mean a perfect supporting cast
- 1:37Speaker 6: at the center ight position in behind Sasha Barkov.
- 1:41Speaker 4: So Brad Barshall one of the first to congratulate, and
- 1:43Speaker 4: they were bitter rivals prior to Marsham becoming a member
- 1:50Speaker 4: of the Panthers.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Ladies and Gentlemen, the Stanley Cup.
- 2:48Speaker 3: The Stanley Cup is the most iconic trophy in sports
- 2:53Speaker 3: and the most difficult to win. And while it may
- 2:59Speaker 3: be difficult to win once, to do it twice in
- 3:03Speaker 3: a row is almost impossible. You can't win it twice
- 3:15Speaker 3: in a row unless you have commitment, leadership, passion, a.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Great fan base and a great organization.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Starting with Vinnie and Teresa Iola, Matt Caldwell, Bill Zeno, Paul.
- 3:43Speaker 7: Maurice and again, you fans have proven that hockey works
- 3:54Speaker 7: in the sunshine.
- 4:00Speaker 8: Alexander Barklav.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Let's do it again.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Wee hundred fifty nine days later and our parkov will
- 4:40Speaker 4: take it first.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Hid H.
- 5:03Speaker 9: Smid first time Stanley Cup champion. Matthew could chuck directing traffic,
- 5:25Speaker 9: tell him spect to take it all the way around
- 5:29Speaker 9: the rink. One thing he will never ever forget.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Jeff Jews But other first time Stanley Cuff champion.
- 6:06Speaker 4: When he was a youngster and his dad played for
- 6:08Speaker 4: the Denver Nuggets, Popeye Jones asked Joe Sakak to have
- 6:15Speaker 4: a little chat with his son that young set started
- 6:20Speaker 4: playing hockey in Denver. Baba snow second, Another first time
- 6:29Speaker 4: started a Cup champ?
- 6:52Speaker 5: What's walking in the great one?
- 6:54Speaker 4: Wayne Kretzky, Wayne as you watch the celebration, the excitement.
- 7:01Speaker 4: You had the opportunity to do this on four occasions.
- 7:05Speaker 4: What's going through the mine of these first time champions.
- 7:08Speaker 10: Well, first of all, there's no feeding like it. We
- 7:14Speaker 10: always talk about how hard it is to win this
- 7:17Speaker 10: trophy and that's a fact that's just not a rumor
- 7:20Speaker 10: or a saying. But it just shows you how unique
- 7:23Speaker 10: this hockey club is that they've handed the trophy to
- 7:27Speaker 10: every first time player. I thought for sure Marsham would
- 7:30Speaker 10: be the first guy to get it, but they went
- 7:32Speaker 10: completely opposite direction and make sure the guys who had
- 7:35Speaker 10: never won it before got to lift the Stanley Cup first.
- 7:38Speaker 2: And that just shows the uniqueness of their team.
- 7:41Speaker 5: Pets.
- 7:42Speaker 6: You know this team very well to Florida Panthers as
- 7:45Speaker 6: a j Greer gets the chance to lift it up.
- 7:50Speaker 8: What is impressed you with them going back to back?
- 7:53Speaker 2: They're a well oiled machine.
- 7:55Speaker 10: I thought in March when they had a lot of injuries,
- 7:57Speaker 10: and I'm pretty good friends at bill Zido, they weren't
- 8:01Speaker 10: worried to concern if they were going to finish first, second,
- 8:03Speaker 10: or third. They just felt like, all right, we want
- 8:06Speaker 10: our organization, we want our team to be ready physically
- 8:09Speaker 10: and mentally heading into the first round, and they were,
- 8:13Speaker 10: and they just got stronger as every series went along.
- 8:17Speaker 10: They have a goaltending their defense. The trade they made
- 8:20Speaker 10: for Seth Jones was remarkable. He filled right in like
- 8:24Speaker 10: a glove. And you know when you have two guys
- 8:27Speaker 10: I got Bad and Jones that can play twenty eight
- 8:29Speaker 10: minutes a game and play at a solid pace, and
- 8:33Speaker 10: they play similar so there's not a big change when
- 8:35Speaker 10: they come off the ice. And then the continuity of
- 8:38Speaker 10: the forward group, the four lines, they just kept turning
- 8:42Speaker 10: them over and they just kept going at Edmonton and Waves,
- 8:46Speaker 10: and Edmonton finally broke.
- 8:48Speaker 2: They physically and mentally.
- 8:52Speaker 10: Just played as well as you can ever play to
- 8:54Speaker 10: be a Stanley Cup champion.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And their good players were really good.
- 8:58Speaker 10: But their role players, guys who are on third line,
- 9:02Speaker 10: fourth line, the fourth and fifth, sixth defenseman.
- 9:05Speaker 2: They are the difference in this series.
- 9:07Speaker 10: They played exceptional hockey.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Packy Savaskevitch, who was terrific as a rookie dur of
- 9:17Speaker 4: the regular season, the not see action in the Stanley
- 9:20Speaker 4: Cup Final, getting a chance to lift to Stanley Cup.
- 9:28Speaker 10: I grew up playing against Sam Reinhart's father, Paul Reinhart,
- 9:31Speaker 10: and I remember ten years old.
- 9:33Speaker 2: My dad said, that's the best ten year old in
- 9:34Speaker 2: the country.
- 9:36Speaker 10: I had a chance to talk to Paul yesterday, obviously
- 9:38Speaker 10: he came in to watch the game from Vancouver, and
- 9:42Speaker 10: I just can't say enough good things about his son.
- 9:44Speaker 10: I know he got four those today, but MAYAMAI that
- 9:48Speaker 10: young man was really good at the entire series. He
- 9:52Speaker 10: just was solid. But they had other guys who are
- 9:55Speaker 10: like that, barkov Ryinhart.
- 9:58Speaker 2: They just do their job, they go about it the
- 10:01Speaker 2: right way and they play well.
- 10:02Speaker 10: And as I said on the show tonight, Paul Maurice
- 10:05Speaker 10: and he was trying to match up against Connor, but
- 10:07Speaker 10: he was keeping the right d against Connor. But he
- 10:10Speaker 10: knew he had Londell, or he had Barkhoff, or he
- 10:12Speaker 10: had Bennett.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Their lines all three could check.
- 10:15Speaker 10: And the centermen are all tough and they're all good,
- 10:17Speaker 10: and they made it hard on the Vonton oilers.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Wayne, you mentioned the roth Hart family.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Sam with the four goals tonight, it joins you and
- 10:26Speaker 4: the record books. You were the last player to score
- 10:28Speaker 4: seven goals in what Stanley Cup final.
- 10:31Speaker 5: That was back.
- 10:31Speaker 4: In nineteen eighty five when you won the first and
- 10:35Speaker 4: your two coups by trophies. So full circle mo Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 4: Sam Rod scoring seven goals in this series.
- 10:41Speaker 6: H all my.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Records this year dropping like flyties, Eddie.
- 10:45Speaker 8: Oh no, you still got another for.
- 10:52Speaker 10: It was you guys. We were together this whole series.
- 10:55Speaker 10: You guys did a great job. But how good was
- 10:57Speaker 10: this Florida team? I knew they were good because I
- 10:59Speaker 10: got a check has to come down every now and
- 11:01Speaker 10: then the games. This is a well of structured hockey
- 11:04Speaker 10: club top to bottom. In September they did a charity
- 11:08Speaker 10: fishing chip with my center in law on his boat sixteen.
- 11:12Speaker 2: The guys showed up their general manager. They were the
- 11:15Speaker 2: most polite, nicest young men. They were ready for the
- 11:18Speaker 2: second year, ready for round.
- 11:19Speaker 10: Two, and they've proven everybody that they are the best
- 11:22Speaker 10: team in hockey.
- 11:26Speaker 6: It's been great to be with you and the boys,
- 11:27Speaker 6: Gretz not this journey here in the Stanley Cup finals
- 11:32Speaker 6: been awesome.
- 11:32Speaker 8: You're our leader and.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Selfisher. We love having you with being around.
- 11:38Speaker 8: Your hole toctor them and here.
- 11:40Speaker 11: Tops brad Marsham, he's still blocking rats.
- 11:55Speaker 2: It's really a testament to their hockey club.
- 11:59Speaker 5: You guys.
- 12:00Speaker 2: He said it many a time. He was probably the.
- 12:02Speaker 10: Most hated guy that they played against, and they took
- 12:05Speaker 10: him in. And that's what we used to always say
- 12:09Speaker 10: in hockey. The guys you hate the most, those are
- 12:12Speaker 10: the guys you love and you want on your team.
- 12:14Speaker 10: I remember theod Flurry. He was such a competitor, but
- 12:18Speaker 10: he could have played on my team any day.
- 12:20Speaker 2: And that's how Marshawan plays.
- 12:22Speaker 5: But Wayne used to play with the guy in Kevin
- 12:24Speaker 5: Lynksi who was sticking in the rack.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Kenny was the same way.
- 12:28Speaker 10: And Kenny was a playoff player, big game player, and
- 12:32Speaker 10: that's how Marshaw has.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Kenny and him were a lot of like by Wayne.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Was a foward to hearing from you and the rest
- 12:39Speaker 4: of the game on the Pulse. Game has been a
- 12:41Speaker 4: tremendous couple of weeks with you as always, right.
- 12:43Speaker 2: John, Thanks, all right, thank you guys. You guys are wonderful.
- 12:47Speaker 5: All right, we'll see a lot of thanks.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Ways is standing by with Jackie.
- 12:56Speaker 12: Serge Vebrovski. Congratulations, you've just gone back to back. What
- 13:00Speaker 12: makes this one special?
- 13:02Speaker 1: Right?
- 13:03Speaker 13: I mean, it's amazing feeling and I want to say
- 13:06Speaker 13: glory to the Father and to the Son and to
- 13:09Speaker 13: the Holy Spirit. You know, I dedicate again and humble
- 13:12Speaker 13: and appreciate it for the everything we went through. And
- 13:16Speaker 13: I want to give that victory to the God, you know,
- 13:19Speaker 13: I want to thank you, thank Him for everything I have,
- 13:22Speaker 13: for the for my parents, for my family, my wife, allgat,
- 13:26Speaker 13: my daughter.
- 13:27Speaker 8: Two daughters, for this family. This family is amazing.
- 13:31Speaker 13: So I'm blessed with everything, and I want to I
- 13:33Speaker 13: want to thank God for that and go back to work.
- 13:36Speaker 12: It's very clear that this is a very very special group.
- 13:40Speaker 12: What can you say about what these guys mean to you?
- 13:42Speaker 8: Yeah, they are amazing.
- 13:43Speaker 13: I mean the group that it's it's so privileged to
- 13:46Speaker 13: be their goalie, you know, it's it's a dream come true.
- 13:49Speaker 13: And to win twice that that trophy, it's amazing.
- 13:53Speaker 12: You know, we saw you kind of standing by yourself
- 13:56Speaker 12: as the crowd chanted your name. What is it like
- 13:59Speaker 12: to live in the moment.
- 14:00Speaker 13: Yeah, the crowds of the defense are amazing. Care they
- 14:03Speaker 13: gave me all all time. Well, their support is amazing.
- 14:06Speaker 13: So I'm so happy to to bring that cup to
- 14:10Speaker 13: them again.
- 14:10Speaker 8: So what's next? How do you celebrate Sagan? How do
- 14:14Speaker 8: you celebrate yeah, we just enjoy it together. That's it,
- 14:17Speaker 8: all right.
- 14:17Speaker 12: Congratulations, thank you for this, Thank you so much.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 14:22Speaker 4: There's Sam Reinhart scored four of the five Panthers goals todnight.
- 14:30Speaker 6: Remember he got banged up in the conference final against
- 14:34Speaker 6: the Carolina Hurricanes.
- 14:38Speaker 8: Came back, took him some time.
- 14:41Speaker 6: The time off, I think Kenny did him some, did
- 14:46Speaker 6: him well in between the conference final and the Stanley
- 14:48Speaker 6: Cup Final and he started finding his stride. And and
- 14:54Speaker 6: now the MVP the CONTs, My Trophy winner, Sam Bennett
- 15:02Speaker 6: can't remember that shift for the ages he had earlier
- 15:04Speaker 6: in this series here in South Florida.
- 15:08Speaker 8: He took on put coles In, he took off.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Klingberg, and next thing you know, he's got a breakaway
- 15:12Speaker 6: going back the other way and.
- 15:17Speaker 8: Goes top shelf.
- 15:18Speaker 6: And there's your MVP and leading goal scorer in the
- 15:22Speaker 6: Stanley Cup playoffs.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Here are the centers who have scored fifteen goals out
- 15:26Speaker 4: of in a postseason Wayne Gretzky, Barry o'livieu, Joe Shackett,
- 15:33Speaker 4: Sydney Crosby, Sam Bennett, unbelievable. He hands it off to
- 15:42Speaker 4: Matthew Kachuk and you talked about what the acquisition off
- 15:49Speaker 4: Kachuck did for this franchise.
- 15:54Speaker 8: There are his parents, Keith on the right, his mom
- 15:58Speaker 8: Chantale on the left.
- 16:02Speaker 6: July twenty second of twenty twenty two is when Matthew
- 16:06Speaker 6: Kachuck became a Florida Panther and really changed the culture
- 16:11Speaker 6: and the direction of this franchise. And then there's his
- 16:21Speaker 6: brother Brady, the captain of the Ottawa Senators watching him back.
- 16:25Speaker 8: To back seasons.
- 16:29Speaker 5: He would love to have the opportunities one.
- 16:30Speaker 6: Hundred percent watching his brother hoist the Stanley Cup and
- 16:35Speaker 6: bho'sh talked about Gustaf Forsling in the open just flat
- 16:42Speaker 6: out awesome display of team defense by that man right there,
- 16:47Speaker 6: Gustaf Fororesling.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Sam Reidhart seven goals over the last four games is
- 16:57Speaker 4: with Jackie.
- 17:00Speaker 12: Sam, congratulations, I see you giving thumbs up to the
- 17:03Speaker 12: people over here. Is your family over here as just
- 17:05Speaker 12: fans or what's going on here?
- 17:07Speaker 8: It's just that I love it, enjoying the moment you're.
- 17:10Speaker 2: One with the people.
- 17:11Speaker 12: I'll hell of a performance tonight on hell Over run
- 17:14Speaker 12: once again for.
- 17:15Speaker 8: The Florida Panthers.
- 17:16Speaker 12: What can you say about this one that separates it
- 17:18Speaker 12: from the last one.
- 17:21Speaker 8: Uh, just rezilla.
- 17:22Speaker 14: I mean it's not easy coming back, and you know,
- 17:25Speaker 14: you know how hard it is to do. Sometimes that
- 17:28Speaker 14: benefits you and sometimes it doesn't. So you know, we
- 17:31Speaker 14: just stuck with it. You know, a lot has to
- 17:34Speaker 14: go your way to be standing here at the end,
- 17:36Speaker 14: and we're up for the task again.
- 17:38Speaker 12: Rod Marshan joins this team and feels like a perfect fit,
- 17:42Speaker 12: then contributes in a massive way on this run. Why
- 17:46Speaker 12: do you think he was able to fit so seamlessly
- 17:48Speaker 12: into the group.
- 17:49Speaker 14: Just a gamer, He's so competitive, you know, I've seen
- 17:53Speaker 14: it ever since I came in the league.
- 17:54Speaker 8: You know, I think everyone's seen it.
- 17:56Speaker 14: That's why you know he's got so much respect and
- 17:58Speaker 14: people hate.
- 17:59Speaker 8: Him so much. That's just what he is. He's a competitor,
- 18:02Speaker 8: He's a warrior.
- 18:03Speaker 5: You know.
- 18:03Speaker 14: He was so motivated great from day one when he
- 18:06Speaker 14: got here, and I was infectious.
- 18:08Speaker 3: For our group.
- 18:09Speaker 12: All right, well you guys are writing a hell of
- 18:11Speaker 12: a story. Congratulations, go celebrate.
- 18:13Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Er Firch Stanley Cup for Cardifer Hagen one with the
- 18:18Speaker 4: Tampa Bay Light, Naga dow too back to back with
- 18:21Speaker 4: the Panthers.
- 18:26Speaker 5: I think Gretz touched on it.
- 18:28Speaker 6: I mean the depth of this team, the matchups, whether
- 18:32Speaker 6: head coach Paul Maurice is chasing it or not. With
- 18:37Speaker 6: the center ice position, that depth, There's Evan Rodriguez and
- 18:42Speaker 6: then Barkoff and Bennett and Lundell. How about that third
- 18:47Speaker 6: line Kenny Mark, Shant, Lundell and Losterena pretty salty.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Prodible throughout the postseason.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Even Rodriguez led the Panthers with seven points during last
- 18:59Speaker 4: year Stanley Cup Final. You score to power play goal
- 19:04Speaker 4: in Game three of this series had a six to
- 19:08Speaker 4: one pafters Winnico Meekler. We lost a couple of defensemen
- 19:21Speaker 4: following last season, Key Coggs and more playing time for
- 19:25Speaker 4: Mikal of this season the acquisition of Schmidt and Seth Jones,
- 19:32Speaker 4: and they all did an outstanding job.
- 19:33Speaker 6: I mean, you lose a player like Brandon Montor to
- 19:36Speaker 6: free agency out in Seattle, and the other players to
- 19:41Speaker 6: step up and eat up those minutes, and you had
- 19:43Speaker 6: the suspension for Ac Glad and he was hurt. I
- 19:45Speaker 6: mean there were just a lot of movement parts. Is
- 19:47Speaker 6: Grett's kind of touchdown and you get a guy like
- 19:49Speaker 6: mikoln and you trade for Seth Jones.
- 19:54Speaker 5: And then you got Bob and gold.
- 19:55Speaker 6: I mean the strength of this team certainly through the
- 19:59Speaker 6: middle of the ice.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Plus to rain it an assist tonight eight points in
- 20:04Speaker 4: the clinching games. Throwing these playoffs for low score rating.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Matthew kud Chuck is with Peger.
- 20:19Speaker 15: Can you describe your thoughts and your emotions going through
- 20:22Speaker 15: everything you've gone through following the Four Nations Matthew and
- 20:25Speaker 15: getting to.
- 20:26Speaker 8: This point and winning on home ice.
- 20:30Speaker 16: This one, this one's more awarring to me, just everything
- 20:33Speaker 16: person when I had to overcome, didn't know if I
- 20:36Speaker 16: was gonna be playing, and it just shows how how
- 20:40Speaker 16: unbelievable our group is, the depth everything, and then allow
- 20:44Speaker 16: me to got to get my footing throughout the playoffs.
- 20:46Speaker 16: And then, Uh, I owe a lot.
- 20:48Speaker 5: I owe a lot of people, a.
- 20:50Speaker 16: Lot of you know, thank you's, uh doctors, medical team,
- 20:54Speaker 16: our trainers, just equipment guy, all all the support staff
- 20:57Speaker 16: that doesn't get a lot of credit. They I would
- 21:00Speaker 16: not be here without them, and they I owe this one.
- 21:04Speaker 15: Do you think the average fan has any idea.
- 21:06Speaker 8: What you went through and what did you go through?
- 21:09Speaker 16: I tore my adduct or off the bone and then
- 21:12Speaker 16: had some hernia thing and all on the same side,
- 21:15Speaker 16: and I wanted to throw in the towel a bunch
- 21:21Speaker 16: of times. I'm sure I gotta thank a lot of people,
- 21:25Speaker 16: I mean for getting.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Me healthy enough.
- 21:27Speaker 8: I'm sure I wasn't the easiest to deal with.
- 21:29Speaker 16: I mean, my fiance did a great drop of the
- 21:32Speaker 16: house on days where I probably wasn't in the best
- 21:36Speaker 16: mood coming to the rank the trainers maybe when I
- 21:38Speaker 16: wasn't in the best mood when I was at pain.
- 21:39Speaker 16: I just owe them so much, the doctors, and I
- 21:43Speaker 16: really didn't think I'd be playing and or at least
- 21:46Speaker 16: playing my capabilities. So the longer the playoffs went, the
- 21:50Speaker 16: better I felt. And I owe that to the guys
- 21:53Speaker 16: for giving me some weight over them to feel good.
- 21:56Speaker 15: What's it like looking up and seeing Mom and Dad
- 21:59Speaker 15: and Brady.
- 22:00Speaker 16: Oh my god, I wouldn't be here without them. I've
- 22:02Speaker 16: got a great support system at home here, and then
- 22:05Speaker 16: you know, I have my parents and my brother and
- 22:08Speaker 16: my sister. I wouldn't be here without them. It's so
- 22:11Speaker 16: emotional because this is a dream, you know, you have
- 22:14Speaker 16: a trialhead dream of winning the Stanley Cuff and to
- 22:16Speaker 16: do this back to back times go to three straight finals,
- 22:19Speaker 16: win two of them. I mean, we're a dynasty and
- 22:23Speaker 16: and I can't believe that this is what's happened in
- 22:26Speaker 16: the last few years. Coming to Florida was one of
- 22:28Speaker 16: the greatest things that's ever happened to me. And I
- 22:30Speaker 16: owe a lot of things, just so many people for
- 22:32Speaker 16: making that happen. And I'm believing in me and that
