Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle, I guess, and I am
- 0:04Speaker 1: here because we're gonna talk about serial experiments lay in
- 0:07Speaker 1: episode four, because that's what we do right now. Before
- 0:12Speaker 1: we get going, I wanted to say that I am
- 0:15Speaker 1: still not caught up on everything. I'm still maintaining caught
- 0:19Speaker 1: upness or something with which hat Atlie, I can't be
- 0:25Speaker 1: pronouncing that correctly, and also re zero, which are both
- 0:29Speaker 1: going okay, but uh, I'm two episodes behind Dora. Hey,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Doro now, and it is really really good. I know
- 0:36Speaker 1: I said last week that I was really enjoying it,
- 0:38Speaker 1: but I'm like really really enjoying it. This is kind
- 0:42Speaker 1: of what I wanted from the first season, I think,
- 0:44Speaker 1: so I'm very happy about this.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 1: So if you were kind of iffy about last season
- 0:50Speaker 1: but you thought it was kind of cool, please please
- 0:52Speaker 1: watch this season. We're like eight episodes in. I mean
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'm not, I'm like six episodes in, but still so like, yeah,
- 0:59Speaker 1: just just reminding you that it exists and it's real
- 1:02Speaker 1: fucked up this season. If you wanted more blood and
- 1:05Speaker 1: horror elements, we definitely have them.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So yay.
- 1:10Speaker 1: But yeah, Lane, because that's really all I have to
- 1:12Speaker 1: talk about, which is fine probably. So this episode is
- 1:16Speaker 1: called Religion, and I don't know if that's a good
- 1:19Speaker 1: title because I'm not actually sure what that means with
- 1:23Speaker 1: this episode, and maybe I'll figure it out on the way,
- 1:26Speaker 1: like through talking about this, but as of right now, yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm not really sure. So that's whatever. So if you
- 1:34Speaker 1: remember from the end of last episode, we ended with
- 1:38Speaker 1: Lane sitting on the floor only partially clothed, and her
- 1:42Speaker 1: sister had just walked into her room and was like
- 1:44Speaker 1: super fucking confused because she's just on the floor like
- 1:47Speaker 1: with the screwdriver, like fucking around with her computers, guts everywhere,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and then she got all weird and she was like, well,
- 1:54Speaker 1: go home on Echohn, And it was scary because she
- 1:56Speaker 1: was smiling and it really just didn't feel like the
- 1:58Speaker 1: Lane that we've been shown so far. So yeah, we
- 2:01Speaker 1: don't start there because there wasn't that much going on there,
- 2:04Speaker 1: so that makes sense. So anyway, the episode starts with
- 2:07Speaker 1: that opening sequence like the statty screen and Lane and
- 2:10Speaker 1: stuff like that, and then into the opening theme yay,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and then we see other stuff that we always see,
- 2:17Speaker 1: like the Green City shot with the crosswalk and the
- 2:20Speaker 1: crosswalk light turning red, and then like weird distorted like
- 2:24Speaker 1: circular lights that are probably cars, but they're real glurry,
- 2:27Speaker 1: so we don't know exactly. And then finally new stuff.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We get a blue shot of the city and a
- 2:35Speaker 1: voice says, and it kind of sounds like Lane, but
- 2:38Speaker 1: I don't know if it is. I don't need parents.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Humans are all alone, they're not connected to anyone. We
- 2:43Speaker 1: see people walking and then a cab peeling away from
- 2:46Speaker 1: the curb, which you've also seen before. The voice continues,
- 2:50Speaker 1: no one at all, no one. Yeah, that's sad, but yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: maybe it's not Lane, because you remember she was all
- 2:56Speaker 1: about like everyone being connected.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And then we see that shot of that building where
- 3:01Speaker 1: we're kind of looking up at it and there's really
- 3:02Speaker 1: fast moving clouds, and then we go to the title
- 3:05Speaker 1: card Religion, layer zero four. Okay, now we have power
- 3:11Speaker 1: lines humming on like a dark, purplish blue sky. We're
- 3:14Speaker 1: kind of panning over, I think, to the right, and
- 3:18Speaker 1: we cut to Lane stuffed animals and we hear like
- 3:21Speaker 1: her computer fan running in the background, But no, it
- 3:24Speaker 1: isn't a computer fan. It's just like a floor fan,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you know, like those pedestal fans.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Is that what that's called, just you know, standing on
- 3:31Speaker 2: the floor blowing at things?
- 3:33Speaker 1: It is blowing at her, I said, computer box thing.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I had to look up what that's called.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I don't know, like a computer case or I think
- 3:41Speaker 1: I know it as a computer tower, you know, like
- 3:43Speaker 1: the main part of the computer that's not the screen,
- 3:45Speaker 1: that part anyway. The fan is blowing on it, and
- 3:48Speaker 1: like the front panel is off and it's.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Just kind of smoking.
- 3:52Speaker 1: So yeah, it's overheating. That's not good. I assume eventually
- 3:56Speaker 1: that becomes a fire, but I'm not sure. We then
- 3:59Speaker 1: see some like computer like internal things, like little boardy
- 4:02Speaker 1: things and like wires and stuff. I don't know what
- 4:04Speaker 1: computer parts mean. Lene is staring really intensely at like
- 4:08Speaker 1: a bunch of computer chipboard pieces things, and we kind
- 4:13Speaker 1: of cut back a little and we can see that
- 4:15Speaker 1: there's just stuff everywhere. There's like you know, computer parts,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and like a bunch of cords all over the floor
- 4:21Speaker 1: and at least two monitors for some reason. And she
- 4:25Speaker 1: is on the floor like kneeling over a book in
- 4:28Speaker 1: that thing that I guess really is a nightgown because
- 4:31Speaker 1: it's a little bit longer than just a shirt, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: it's like a white strappy nightgown. Yeah. We see her
- 4:36Speaker 1: dad looking in through the slightly ajar door, and he
- 4:41Speaker 1: seems like maybe he's worried, which seems like a good
- 4:44Speaker 1: call because this is weird.
- 4:46Speaker 2: He watches her for a little while.
- 4:48Speaker 1: And then he kind of closes his eyes, like almost sadly.
- 4:52Speaker 1: He then starts to leave and closes the door behind him.
- 4:55Speaker 1: We now see the fridge door being open like the
- 4:58Speaker 1: inside of the door, and there's you know, beverages. There's
- 5:01Speaker 1: three cartons of three point six milk, not sure what
- 5:04Speaker 1: that means, a thing of tea, like a bottle of water,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and then two other beverages that don't have labels and
- 5:10Speaker 1: I don't know what they are. A hand reaches for
- 5:13Speaker 1: the water, but then it like stops and it goes
- 5:15Speaker 1: for one of the nondescript beverages instead. Good choice, I guess.
- 5:19Speaker 1: We see that it is Mica, you know, Laine's sister,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and she kind of smirks and picks up this non
- 5:25Speaker 1: descript bottle of beverage. She looks over like to the side,
- 5:30Speaker 1: like maybe she's trying to make sure no one sees her,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and she just takes a swig from it. Yeah, you're
- 5:35Speaker 1: not supposed to drink directly out of bottles because gross bacteria.
- 5:39Speaker 1: We get to the living room where her dad walks
- 5:42Speaker 1: in and her mom is sitting on the couch. He
- 5:44Speaker 1: sits in a chair next to her and picks up
- 5:47Speaker 1: a newspaper that was on like a coffee table, and
- 5:50Speaker 1: you know, opens it and looks at it as you would,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and the mom says, how to go that just kind
- 5:55Speaker 1: of stares at the paper, which is usually not a
- 5:58Speaker 1: good sign. This point, Mika walks over from I guess
- 6:01Speaker 1: the kitchen because remember it's all one big room, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: she says, what's with Lane.
- 6:06Speaker 2: She's been acting strange lately. Her dad looks up.
- 6:09Speaker 1: At her and he's just like, no, she's perfectly normal.
- 6:13Speaker 1: MICA's like, huh have you even seen her? Mom says Mika,
- 6:18Speaker 1: do I have to remind you about your tone of
- 6:20Speaker 1: voice again? Mika at this just kind of walks away and.
- 6:23Speaker 2: We hear her leave the room.
- 6:25Speaker 1: The mom stands and is like, is that so the
- 6:28Speaker 1: dad has like really shiny glasses, like light is reflecting
- 6:31Speaker 1: in them so we can't see his eyes, and he says, yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: of course it is. If we mean lane being perfectly normal.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I'm not about that.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Mom kind of walks over to Dad and she like
- 6:43Speaker 1: pets Dad on his head and he pulls her close.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Now we cut to some guy running upstairs. It's night,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and he stops at like a landing or like a
- 6:56Speaker 1: dead end. I couldn't really tell. His breathing really hard
- 6:59Speaker 1: and looks real stressed, and then he gasps. We look
- 7:02Speaker 1: down the stairs and we see this girl's feet. She's
- 7:06Speaker 1: like wearing those like black like Mary Jane's shoes, if
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know what I mean. They have like black straps
- 7:11Speaker 1: on him and stuff, and he screams because little kids
- 7:15Speaker 1: are scary. We hear him screaming a bunch like, but
- 7:18Speaker 1: we have cut away from it now, and he kind
- 7:20Speaker 1: of sounds like he's in serious amount of pain or something.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:23Speaker 1: But then we cut back to him and he's running
- 7:25Speaker 1: like down an exterior hallway of like an apartment complex,
- 7:29Speaker 1: and he's just totally out of breath. Then we see
- 7:32Speaker 1: a hand like struggling to get a key into a lock.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Like he just keeps missing, as you might if you're
- 7:37Speaker 1: really stressed out and you just can't focus. He looks
- 7:40Speaker 1: back because he's obviously the one with the key, and
- 7:42Speaker 1: he's like shit shit. At this point, he just drops
- 7:46Speaker 1: the keys and he like bends down to get them
- 7:48Speaker 1: and like starts trying to find the right one again
- 7:50Speaker 1: because he's.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Got a lot of keys.
- 7:52Speaker 1: He turns back and behind him in the hallway is
- 7:55Speaker 1: a little girl with a pink dress holding a suffed
- 7:58Speaker 1: animal that I think is.
- 7:59Speaker 2: A dog, but I don't.
- 8:00Speaker 1: No, he screams and he starts trying to get the
- 8:04Speaker 1: key into the lock again, and he keeps like screaming
- 8:06Speaker 1: and he's like really really out of breath, and he
- 8:08Speaker 1: looks back at the girl. We can't see her eyes,
- 8:11Speaker 1: but she's got like brown hair and pigtails.
- 8:13Speaker 2: By the way, we kind of.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Zoom in on her, and then we cut to her weird.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Dog stuffed animal.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's just got like I guess the eyes are supposed
- 8:20Speaker 1: to be closed, but they look like they're kind of knitted,
- 8:21Speaker 1: so it kind of looks like they have many eyes,
- 8:24Speaker 1: but I don't think it's apposed to. Then we cut
- 8:26Speaker 1: to her shoes and then back to her eyes that
- 8:28Speaker 1: are in shadow, and the guy's like, what do you want?
- 8:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:33Speaker 1: He turns back around. What's going on. He's still struggling
- 8:36Speaker 1: to get the key in the lock. Shit. We get
- 8:38Speaker 1: a side view of his face as he's doing this,
- 8:41Speaker 1: and a hand goes right past him and touches the
- 8:44Speaker 1: door next to him. He gasps and turns around. The
- 8:47Speaker 1: girl is like right on him, basically smiling.
- 8:51Speaker 2: He kind of.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Whimpers, and we get it close up of her mouth
- 8:54Speaker 1: and she says in English, gotcha.
- 8:57Speaker 2: He freezes.
- 8:59Speaker 1: We cut to a view of the city as he screams, Yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 1: that didn't seem like that probably ended well for him. Okay, anyway,
- 9:07Speaker 1: Now we see outside of the school, you know, by
- 9:09Speaker 1: the gates, and the big clock on the school is chiming.
- 9:12Speaker 1: We hear a bunch of girls voices, and I bet
- 9:15Speaker 1: some of them are characters we know, but I don't
- 9:17Speaker 1: know which ones they are, So I'm just gonna say
- 9:19Speaker 1: girl one and so on.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So the first girl says, hey, Rika, our next period
- 9:24Speaker 1: is homeroom. Girl too, which might be Rayka, says lucky.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Girl three is like, don't you think it's strange that
- 9:30Speaker 1: they called for a special staff meeting? I think The
- 9:33Speaker 1: second girl says, do you really think it's true? Then
- 9:36Speaker 1: we finally see people. So Rayka's like, what she is
- 9:40Speaker 1: standing at Alice's desk, and Alice is sitting at her
- 9:44Speaker 1: desk obviously, and she says, they say a senior committed suicide. Judy,
- 9:49Speaker 1: who is at the desk in front of her, says suicide.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Alice is like, it's not just at her school either.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Someone jumped off the roof of their apartment building right Lane.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Lane was standing behind him and I didn't even notice.
- 10:02Speaker 1: She was like reading a book and she turns and
- 10:04Speaker 1: is like, huh. She puts the book behind her back.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I can't read what it says, but I'm pretty sure
- 10:09Speaker 1: it's a computer something E book. It looks like it
- 10:12Speaker 1: could be. They all kind of stare at her for
- 10:14Speaker 1: a second, and she's like, sorry, what she seems different,
- 10:19Speaker 1: Like she feels lighter, like friendlier, even with just what
- 10:23Speaker 1: we just heard there, aside from her holding the book
- 10:26Speaker 1: behind her back. Alice just kind of stares at her,
- 10:28Speaker 1: and Judy says, you don't really think Lane would have
- 10:31Speaker 1: heard about this, do you. Lane's like, the suicide? You mean?
- 10:35Speaker 1: Riga says, where did you hear about it? Alice is
- 10:38Speaker 1: like for real, Laane smiles. It feels like it's a
- 10:42Speaker 1: cross between a genuine smile and like a customer service
- 10:45Speaker 1: smile that you're just putting on for someone. But it's
- 10:48Speaker 1: very different than what we've seen so far. And she
- 10:50Speaker 1: just says, well, yeah, I only heard about it. Alice
- 10:53Speaker 1: is like, oh where, Lane says, I'm the wired. Alice
- 10:57Speaker 1: is like, oh, you must have got the hang of
- 10:59Speaker 1: your new nobbyd. Now you'll have to let me see
- 11:01Speaker 1: it sometime. Lane's like, sure, but after I finished modifying it,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Jerdy's like, you're modifying it. I didn't know you were
- 11:09Speaker 1: into all that hacking stuff, right, because, like you know,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but you've changed. Lane's
- 11:16Speaker 1: like really, how? So? She smiles weird, like her eyes
- 11:21Speaker 1: narrow slightly. I don't really know how to describe it,
- 11:24Speaker 1: but I've actually seen this smile before in an anime,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and I was like, this made me uncomfortable when I
- 11:29Speaker 1: saw it last time.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But I don't remember what anime.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I kind of almost feel like it was in eighty six,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but I can't remember where it would have been in
- 11:39Speaker 1: eighty six, and I've been thinking about it since I
- 11:43Speaker 1: took notes on this. I do not know, but it's
- 11:45Speaker 1: like a weird It's like it doesn't come off as
- 11:48Speaker 1: like mean or scary or anything, but it just was unsettling.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I think. I don't really think that explained it very well,
- 11:53Speaker 1: but that's all I got anyway. Alice is looking at
- 11:56Speaker 1: her really worried me too, and Lane it still has
- 12:00Speaker 1: the book behind her back. By the way, Judy says,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Reca's right. Recu is like, yeah, I'm not sure what
- 12:07Speaker 1: it is. Now. We are panning rights, we're outside. There
- 12:12Speaker 1: are like some people sitting at tables I guess on
- 12:15Speaker 1: the outside patio area of a restaurants. And we hear
- 12:19Speaker 1: someone that's one of the girls, but we don't see them,
- 12:21Speaker 1: so I don't know who it is. Say so, what
- 12:24Speaker 1: sort of rumors have you heard on the Wired lately?
- 12:26Speaker 1: We see dresses in a store window that are pretty ugly,
- 12:29Speaker 1: and then we hear probably Lane say, well that it's
- 12:33Speaker 1: some kind of interactive game. Someone says game a network game?
- 12:38Speaker 1: You mean? We see some men's shirts on a rack
- 12:41Speaker 1: in a store, really trying to save on animation, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: Lane's like, I don't know, I haven't played it yet.
- 12:47Speaker 1: We finally see them. They are walking down a street
- 12:49Speaker 1: together holding some food item, but I don't know what
- 12:54Speaker 1: it is. First I didn't know what it is because
- 12:56Speaker 1: it was too far away, and then even up close,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I still don't know. It's almost like it's in an
- 13:01Speaker 1: ice cream cone or something, but I don't think it's
- 13:04Speaker 1: ice cream. But I thought maybe it could be, but
- 13:06Speaker 1: it's not. Maybe I don't know anyway, Lane says, But
- 13:09Speaker 1: they're saying all the kids who committed suicide were really
- 13:12Speaker 1: into it. Jerdy's like, and guys really like that stuff too,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know, you know, it doesn't have to be about
- 13:17Speaker 1: guys all the time, Jerdy. Alice says, hmm, it sounds dangerous.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Lane kind of runs slightly ahead of them and turns
- 13:26Speaker 1: back and stops, and it's like, I know, but she
- 13:29Speaker 1: eats the rest of the beige food thing that is
- 13:32Speaker 1: in the cone in like one bite and kind of
- 13:34Speaker 1: coughs a little, and Alice is like.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Hey, don't choke.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Lane kind of, like you know, hits her chest and
- 13:39Speaker 1: it's like, I'm okay, do you guys mind if I
- 13:41Speaker 1: head home now? Like I says, you don't need to
- 13:44Speaker 1: ask our permission for everything.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Judy's like, got something to do?
- 13:48Speaker 1: Lane says, I want to put the finishing touches on
- 13:50Speaker 1: my noavvy, it's still in pieces. Judy's like, ah, you
- 13:54Speaker 1: like that thing better than your friends. Huh well, Lane's
- 13:58Speaker 1: like what, Alice says, guy, that's enough, stop badgering her.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I don't know if that makes it better.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Honestly, anyway, Driddy's like, who's just asking? Alice says Lane,
- 14:10Speaker 1: let us know when you're done. Laine looks at Alice
- 14:13Speaker 1: with a little bit of concern, but then smiles and
- 14:15Speaker 1: says sure, I'll see you later, and she takes off
- 14:19Speaker 1: running down the street. Alice looks kind of concerned and
- 14:23Speaker 1: is like, you know, I think it's true she's changed.
- 14:27Speaker 1: We hear a loud bang sort of at this point,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and Alice looks down and that stuffed dog from that
- 14:34Speaker 1: girl who was chasing that guy who just kind of
- 14:36Speaker 1: lands on the ground. She leans down to pick it
- 14:39Speaker 1: up and is like, oh, sorry, here, and she hands
- 14:43Speaker 1: it to that girl.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Uh oh, that girl is maybe a murderer or something.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The girl, who looks totally normal, shakes her head and
- 14:52Speaker 1: is like, no, it's my fault, I dropped it. She
- 14:54Speaker 1: takes it from Alice and then runs over to an
- 14:56Speaker 1: adult woman person who's probably your mom, and like she
- 15:00Speaker 1: turns back to them and waves and it's like sorrio Naissan,
- 15:03Speaker 1: and they kind of walk off. We cut to buzzing
- 15:07Speaker 1: power lines on a dark blue sky. Clouds are moving
- 15:10Speaker 1: quickly overhead behind them. Now we see glowing green computer insides.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Then we see that fan. Then we see like lots
- 15:19Speaker 1: of boxes which might be computer towers. I don't know
- 15:22Speaker 1: why I just wrote down boxes and like shit plugged
- 15:25Speaker 1: in to them with like yellow lights and then tons
- 15:28Speaker 1: of extension cords. Lane is sitting at her desk and
- 15:33Speaker 1: she says log in Lane in English she's in her
- 15:37Speaker 1: nightgown again because that's what she wears when she does
- 15:40Speaker 1: computer work, and Navi in English says authorized. We kind
- 15:44Speaker 1: of pan out now from her at her desk, and
- 15:47Speaker 1: like there's just shit everywhere everywhere, Like there are those
- 15:54Speaker 1: computer towers or computer cases or whatever with the computer
- 15:57Speaker 1: parts of them piled on top of each other. There's
- 16:00Speaker 1: I was counting there's at least eighteen of them in
- 16:02Speaker 1: one stack, which is a little concerning because they're super
- 16:06Speaker 1: super tall, like high up there.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I mean they're on their sides, but they're.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Like way up, and I was looking at her and
- 16:12Speaker 1: going like how did she even reach up there to
- 16:14Speaker 1: keep putting them up there? And then there's like another
- 16:16Speaker 1: pile that's like smaller, and there's like this big thing
- 16:20Speaker 1: in the back with lots of cords plugged into it
- 16:23Speaker 1: that I think is this gigantic surge protector. And wires
- 16:26Speaker 1: are like everywhere, and there are cables hanging from the ceiling,
- 16:30Speaker 1: like big cables that have probably multiple cables inside. What
- 16:34Speaker 1: is that it's probably a raceway is when you have
- 16:37Speaker 1: all the cables in the cable thing. Yeah, they're like
- 16:40Speaker 1: hanging from the ceiling and there's at least three monitors
- 16:44Speaker 1: just hanging out. And I don't know where all this
- 16:47Speaker 1: shit came from because I don't think she has any money,
- 16:51Speaker 1: But what do I know? And I don't think she's
- 16:53Speaker 1: like dad, what are mean more computers? I don't know
- 16:56Speaker 1: where this all came from anyway, Lane says.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Mail.
- 17:00Speaker 1: We see on the screen mail Receive. She clicks on it,
- 17:04Speaker 1: and some options kind of like bounce up. They say
- 17:06Speaker 1: like replay fast forward, stop play voice mail voice few.
- 17:12Speaker 1: She clicks on voicemail and a voice says hello Lane.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Lane stands up and looks at something like behind the
- 17:19Speaker 1: computer and then does something computer related on the floor
- 17:23Speaker 1: as this voice is talking. So the voice continues, I
- 17:26Speaker 1: couldn't figure out the answer to your question by myself,
- 17:29Speaker 1: so I asked a colleague at the lab about it.
- 17:31Speaker 1: If that is a pushu que processor that you're trying
- 17:34Speaker 1: to install, then you probably should set the oscillation to variable,
- 17:38Speaker 1: just like you thought. Novin motherboards are designed to be
- 17:40Speaker 1: compatible with just about anything, but you might run into
- 17:43Speaker 1: some glitches.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Good luck.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Remember if you need anything else, just ask And then
- 17:47Speaker 1: it makes it beep. Lane sits back down at the
- 17:50Speaker 1: computer and stares at it's There are some weird stuff
- 17:53Speaker 1: on the screen. I don't know how to describe it.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And then we cut to the Siberia build. I guess
- 18:00Speaker 1: wires like from telephone lines in front of it are
- 18:03Speaker 1: in focus, and it and the logo on it are
- 18:05Speaker 1: out of focus and blurry, and then they shift into focus,
- 18:08Speaker 1: which I always like when that happens. We cut to
- 18:11Speaker 1: the disco ball and then to a record on a
- 18:14Speaker 1: record player, as it would be. Some guy is like
- 18:18Speaker 1: behind these turntables. I guess he's a DJ, and he's
- 18:22Speaker 1: looking at some music there's like a whole wall that
- 18:25Speaker 1: has like CDs I think, and records on it, and
- 18:30Speaker 1: we hear Lane say JJ. The DJ guy who was
- 18:33Speaker 1: probably JJ says, yeah, he's still looking at CDs. He
- 18:37Speaker 1: doesn't like look up or anything. We hear Lane say,
- 18:40Speaker 1: do you know anything about that net game the kids
- 18:42Speaker 1: are playing? JJ is still looking at a CD. By
- 18:45Speaker 1: the way, is wearing a black beanie and he has
- 18:47Speaker 1: sunglasses and he looks like he's probably pretty cool. He says, oh, fantoma, huh,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and the don't like, you wouldn't be into a game
- 18:54Speaker 1: like that. He puts the CD back on the wall
- 18:57Speaker 1: and finally turns around, So why do you ask? And
- 19:00Speaker 1: then is silent and no one is there, and he's like, seriously,
- 19:05Speaker 1: are my ears playing tricks on me? Already kind of
- 19:08Speaker 1: rubs his head. We kind of zoom out to see that, Yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 1: he's totally alone.
- 19:12Speaker 2: We are now looking up at.
- 19:13Speaker 1: The night sky and some buildings and now we see
- 19:16Speaker 1: a street light. We're like panning, and then we see
- 19:20Speaker 1: some exterior walkways I guess for an apartment building, kind
- 19:24Speaker 1: of like that last thing that we saw. And this guy,
- 19:27Speaker 1: who I guess is like an older teenager. He looks
- 19:30Speaker 1: like maybe he's sixteen, seventeen or something like that, or
- 19:33Speaker 1: maybe in his early twenties, who's wearing like a cat shirt.
- 19:36Speaker 1: He puts his hands on a chaining fence, and it's
- 19:39Speaker 1: a really tall fence, so it's not like he can
- 19:41Speaker 1: just hop over. He turns around. He's breathing really hard,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and we get a close up on his like semi
- 19:47Speaker 1: terrified face, and then we cut to like a computer
- 19:52Speaker 1: looking hallway like. I think I'm talking about the right
- 19:56Speaker 1: video game, but I could be wrong. So if I
- 19:58Speaker 1: am wrong, could you let me know? Can you email
- 20:01Speaker 1: me and tell me that I said the wrong thing?
- 20:03Speaker 1: But it looks like like it's computer like, and I
- 20:06Speaker 1: think it is supposed to look like Doom.
- 20:09Speaker 2: It has like.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Block walls and maybe like a floor that's like stone
- 20:15Speaker 1: or something, and it's like really dark, and there's like
- 20:19Speaker 1: a lot of like visual noise on top, if you
- 20:22Speaker 1: understand what I'm saying.
- 20:23Speaker 2: But anyway, it's.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Weird for it to just be there all of a sudden,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and the guy with a lot of reverb on his
- 20:30Speaker 1: voice for some reason, says no more, I already quit.
- 20:33Speaker 1: He like runs for it. He's on a rooftop by
- 20:36Speaker 1: the way, and he kind of trips down some stairs
- 20:38Speaker 1: and lands on a stomach. It wasn't a ton of stairs,
- 20:40Speaker 1: so I think he's okay. He looks back, like still
- 20:44Speaker 1: on the ground on his stomach, and he sees a
- 20:46Speaker 1: really shiny person walking towards him in like the doom
- 20:51Speaker 1: hallway that he sees, and he like screams and he's
- 20:55Speaker 1: breathing really irregularly. I understand this is all very strange.
- 20:59Speaker 1: And we get kind of a closer shot on the
- 21:02Speaker 1: shiny person, and it's Lain in her nightgown, being all
- 21:06Speaker 1: shiny on the rooftop.
- 21:09Speaker 2: He kind of.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Whimpers and manages to get to his feet and continues
- 21:13Speaker 1: to run. At this, he grabs like a light pole.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think he's still on the building, so I don't
- 21:18Speaker 1: want to call it a street light, and he's like
- 21:20Speaker 1: trying to catch his breath at that, Like this really
- 21:23Speaker 1: big light kind of comes and the background all changes
- 21:26Speaker 1: to like that doom hallway.
- 21:28Speaker 2: He's no longer on the roof.
- 21:30Speaker 1: He looks back and starts running again, like through some
- 21:35Speaker 1: like hanging laundry, you know, like laundry on lines, which
- 21:38Speaker 1: makes sense for a roof but what doesn't make sense
- 21:40Speaker 1: and what pisses me off is all of the stuff
- 21:43Speaker 1: on the lines are just white sheets. Like, really, maybe
- 21:46Speaker 1: this is a thing, but every time I hang laundry,
- 21:50Speaker 1: which I haven't done in a while but I used to,
- 21:52Speaker 1: it would not be white sheets. I mean, it might
- 21:54Speaker 1: be a sheet, but not all of my sheets are white.
- 21:56Speaker 1: But most of the time it's like underwear, socks, the shirt.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But anyway, in this world, it's all white sheets. So
- 22:04Speaker 1: it's running through them and he stops again to catch
- 22:06Speaker 1: his breath, and honestly, like he needs to do more
- 22:11Speaker 1: exercise because he's like barely running it all before he
- 22:14Speaker 1: has to stop again. But anyway, he takes something out
- 22:16Speaker 1: of his back pocket and like throws it on the ground.
- 22:19Speaker 1: It smashes, and I don't know what it was because
- 22:22Speaker 1: it's all smashed now, but it kind of looks like
- 22:24Speaker 1: maybe a cell phone or a computery thing. It has
- 22:27Speaker 1: a screen that's like kind of still lit up, and
- 22:29Speaker 1: then it starts flashing like maybe it's gonna go out,
- 22:31Speaker 1: but it doesn't go out. It just keeps flashing, and
- 22:34Speaker 1: we hear him running again. As we fade out, we
- 22:36Speaker 1: cut to the doom hallway in first person perspective, and
- 22:40Speaker 1: we're hearing him pant as he runs down the hall
- 22:43Speaker 1: like there's a hole in the floor or something. Maybe
- 22:46Speaker 1: it was a stairway, I couldn't really tell. And he
- 22:47Speaker 1: kind of drops into another place and we hear him say,
- 22:50Speaker 1: this isn't the wired Why what am I doing here?
- 22:54Speaker 1: He fade into his side profile as he runs. We're
- 22:57Speaker 1: like really close up and he's like kind of yellowish
- 22:59Speaker 1: for some reason, and we hear a girl and I'm
- 23:03Speaker 1: pretty sure this is Lane say wait, don't run away.
- 23:06Speaker 1: He runs a little more, which is not helpful, and
- 23:09Speaker 1: then he stops again to catch his breath in like
- 23:11Speaker 1: this really weird dark place where we kind of just
- 23:13Speaker 1: see the ground and nothing else, but everything is kind
- 23:16Speaker 1: of red orange tinted, which is weird. And then all
- 23:19Speaker 1: of a sudden, like the normal color comes back of everything,
- 23:21Speaker 1: and he stands more erect, like he was kind of
- 23:24Speaker 1: hunched over, and he kind of fully looks around and
- 23:26Speaker 1: he says, who are you. We are now looking down
- 23:30Speaker 1: at him from above as the camera is pulling further up,
- 23:33Speaker 1: and he says, are you a PK two? Please help me.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'll stop there and say in tease. You just don't
- 23:39Speaker 1: know p K is player killer, So I don't know
- 23:41Speaker 1: if that means he is a player killer or he
- 23:44Speaker 1: is being attacked by player killers.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Either way, someone who kills other players in the game.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we hear Lane say, I can't go where you are.
- 23:53Speaker 1: A guy puts his hands over his face and he's like,
- 23:55Speaker 1: what's going on. He starts running again, but then stops
- 23:58Speaker 1: and gasps because in front of him there were all
- 24:01Speaker 1: of these like glowing hands reaching out from the darkness,
- 24:04Speaker 1: just blocking his path. He's like, stop fucking around, and
- 24:08Speaker 1: he starts to back away. He kind of whimpers a
- 24:11Speaker 1: bunch and then turns and a little girl not the
- 24:15Speaker 1: same one though, and not a Lane, is right in
- 24:17Speaker 1: front of his face, smiling. Yay. He screams, because even
- 24:22Speaker 1: if it wasn't the little girl, that would have been scary.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And she makes this weird like mony growy screaming noise.
- 24:29Speaker 1: He screams again, backs away, raises both of his hands
- 24:32Speaker 1: in the air like he's got a gun and is
- 24:34Speaker 1: like bullet charge lock gate five what He racks an
- 24:39Speaker 1: invisible gun like we hear it rack and we see
- 24:41Speaker 1: him do the movement which is weird, and he's like
- 24:45Speaker 1: stop right there. He points this gun not gun that
- 24:50Speaker 1: doesn't exist at her as she screams or snarls or something,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and then he shoots and we see a flash like
- 24:58Speaker 1: as if there really was a gun, and then he
- 25:00Speaker 1: shoots like four more times and he says, I think stop, stop,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and he's just saying it over and over again. I
- 25:08Speaker 1: think the translation said die, but it was absolutely not die.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So I'm saying stop, but I'm not sure.
- 25:13Speaker 2: If I'm right.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It doesn't really matter because he's just saying something over
- 25:17Speaker 1: and over.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Again to try to get her to stop.
- 25:20Speaker 1: So he keeps shooting and saying like stop, stop, stop,
- 25:23Speaker 1: over and over again. And for some reason, the girl,
- 25:25Speaker 1: well I mean maybe because she's like a demon or something,
- 25:27Speaker 1: is like floating in the air now and we can
- 25:30Speaker 1: just see her silhouette and it's getting like pummeled by bullets,
- 25:33Speaker 1: like he is constantly shooting, and her body just keeps
- 25:36Speaker 1: jolting as they hit her.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Then we see.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Entrance wounds, like a bunch of them, and then we
- 25:42Speaker 1: see her eyes and she looks scared. He keeps shooting
- 25:49Speaker 1: and saying stop or whatever he's saying, and she collapses
- 25:53Speaker 1: to the ground, and he keeps going and then he
- 25:56Speaker 1: runs out of bullets. So his invisible gun is just
- 25:59Speaker 1: clicking as it tries to shoot, but it can't be
- 26:02Speaker 1: goes no bullets, but he is just sweating and trying
- 26:07Speaker 1: to continue to shoot the gun. We cut to the
- 26:10Speaker 1: sheets on the lines blowing in the breeze, and then
- 26:15Speaker 1: to a bunch of sheets on the ground I guess
- 26:17Speaker 1: from all of the commotion, but one of them is
- 26:21Speaker 1: rolled up. It looks like something is inside it. It
- 26:25Speaker 1: looks kind of body shaped. The guy is just like
- 26:28Speaker 1: sitting on the ground near this body shaped rolled up blanket,
- 26:33Speaker 1: like he's against the fence, hugging his knees, just looking
- 26:37Speaker 1: totally blank. As the wind blows. We pan back a
- 26:41Speaker 1: little and see the lane is standing a little bit
- 26:43Speaker 1: away from him on the roof, just staring at him.
- 26:46Speaker 1: She's glowing still, by the way, and she looks pretty
- 26:50Speaker 1: fucking distressed. We fade out. We cut now to a
- 26:55Speaker 1: close up of the guy. Maybe this was a commercial
- 26:57Speaker 1: or something. He's still sitting on the roof, looking pretty blank,
- 27:02Speaker 1: but there's a little bit of visual snow kind of
- 27:04Speaker 1: noise to it. So I'm wondering if we're seeing it
- 27:07Speaker 1: through something, and he says, I was scared. I didn't
- 27:11Speaker 1: know it was just a little girl. I didn't even
- 27:14Speaker 1: know who she was.
- 27:15Speaker 2: We got to black. We hear him say, she just
- 27:18Speaker 2: came out of nowhere.
- 27:20Speaker 1: We cut to first person perspective of like the doom hallway,
- 27:24Speaker 1: and he says, the game Fantoma uses this dedicated client
- 27:28Speaker 1: server application. It lets you fight in the wired without
- 27:31Speaker 1: any boundaries. I downloaded the app from an illegal server
- 27:35Speaker 1: so I could play it just a little while ago.
- 27:37Speaker 1: For us, it had the most advanced dungeon style action
- 27:40Speaker 1: game interface, but it somehow got linked up with a
- 27:43Speaker 1: game of tag played by kindergarteners.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know how that happens.
- 27:49Speaker 1: We see what I think is a Phantoma logo screen
- 27:52Speaker 1: on a computer. It's like black with red and there's
- 27:55Speaker 1: like a red slash and like a yellow liny thing
- 27:57Speaker 1: and then maybe an eye in the middle, but I
- 27:59Speaker 1: couldn't really tell. Well, it looks interesting, and we see
- 28:03Speaker 1: that it is on Lane's nave and she is sitting
- 28:06Speaker 1: in her chair facing away from the computer, kind of
- 28:09Speaker 1: you know, sitting backwards in the chair with her arms
- 28:12Speaker 1: over the headrest.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Kind of looking cool.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Navi like meeps and the screen turns blue and makes
- 28:18Speaker 1: some little ting noises, and Navi says, Lane has mail,
- 28:23Speaker 1: and Lane's like, open it. We hear JJ say yo, Lane,
- 28:27Speaker 1: it's JJ. I didn't know you were.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Into something like Phantoma. He laughs.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I checked around, but I didn't find all that much anyway.
- 28:35Speaker 1: The basic game isn't that unusual for the Wired nowadays,
- 28:38Speaker 1: so my guess is that they just modified it. The
- 28:41Speaker 1: problem is with how the programs connect to each other.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It looks like there's some kind of weird hole in
- 28:46Speaker 1: the protocol. My buddies and I think it might.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Be the work of the nights.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Lane moves the mouse and clicks twice. The Phantoma screen
- 28:55Speaker 1: comes back up and it's got some eerie music, and
- 28:58Speaker 1: Lane says the night we heard dad say Lane. Lane
- 29:03Speaker 1: gasps yeah and looks kind of over her shoulder slightly,
- 29:07Speaker 1: and her dad is standing behind her in the dark
- 29:10Speaker 1: because that's not creepy at all, and her dad says,
- 29:13Speaker 1: looks like you've gotten comfortable talking to people on the Wired.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Laine is quiet for a second and then says yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Her Dad's like, let me give you just one warning
- 29:23Speaker 1: Lane turns her head fully. Now what we get a
- 29:25Speaker 1: close up on her dad's mouth. For some reason, I
- 29:28Speaker 1: think my little girl has perhaps become obsessed with the wired.
- 29:33Speaker 1: It's just an advanced medium for communication. Don't ever get
- 29:36Speaker 1: it confused with the real world. Lane kind of blinks
- 29:40Speaker 1: her dad like, we're now just seeing his eyes, and
- 29:42Speaker 1: he says, do you understand?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Lane smirks, you're wrong.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Her dad's like, huh. Lane continues, the border between the two,
- 29:51Speaker 1: isn't that clear? Her dad frowns. His glasses are glowing now,
- 29:55Speaker 1: so we can't see his eyes, and she continues, and
- 29:57Speaker 1: I'll be able to enter it soon, full.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Range in motion.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I'll be completely metamorphosed what her dad's like.
- 30:07Speaker 2: But even with the top of the line.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Civilian use NAVVI, you couldn't possibly, Lane chuckles. I can
- 30:13Speaker 1: do it. I've upgraded it. Her dad's like a pushoec
- 30:18Speaker 1: process or huh. But Lane, Lane's like, don't worry, it's
- 30:22Speaker 1: still me, you know, do we know that? Her Dad's
- 30:27Speaker 1: like is that? So he turns to leave. Lane watches
- 30:31Speaker 1: him leave, and she's got like this weird look on
- 30:34Speaker 1: her face, like it's a smile, And maybe it's just
- 30:37Speaker 1: the way the lighting is reflecting from the novie, but
- 30:40Speaker 1: it kind of looked like she was almost trying.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Not to laugh. I don't know.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Anyway, she turns back to the computer and we see
- 30:47Speaker 1: her hand clicking the mouse a few more times, and
- 30:50Speaker 1: she stares intently at the screen like a system console
- 30:54Speaker 1: panel like pops up on nave and it's got like
- 30:57Speaker 1: lots of controls that I can't read, you know, like
- 30:59Speaker 1: little words and shit.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Let's say like.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Exc you know stuff I don't know how to say
- 31:03Speaker 1: words code something like that. Anyway, it's like scrolling up,
- 31:07Speaker 1: so like we're just seeing lots and lots of stuff
- 31:09Speaker 1: on the screen, and in this whole kind of area,
- 31:12Speaker 1: there's this really nice guitar driven rock in the background
- 31:15Speaker 1: that kind of.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Like makes this scene a little bit.
- 31:17Speaker 1: It's really the only good thing about this scene, because
- 31:20Speaker 1: it's kind of weird.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 31:21Speaker 1: We hear a woman say I waited for you, Why
- 31:24Speaker 1: the hell didn't you come. Then we hear a very
- 31:27Speaker 1: distorted man's voice.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Say, damn you, damn you, I guess.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Then a woman say this male is one of happiness.
- 31:35Speaker 1: We are seeing her stuffed animals in the blue, you know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: light from the outside, and the woman continues by agreeing
- 31:43Speaker 1: to receive this, she'll be happier than you've ever dreamed possible. Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: that sounds like chain letter. We hear a man say.
- 31:51Speaker 1: In other words, the Knights don't physically exist, but are
- 31:54Speaker 1: rather thought itself. That occurs inside the wired We see
- 31:58Speaker 1: buildings in the dark that are just kind of lilt
- 32:00Speaker 1: by the green lights in their windows, kind of The
- 32:03Speaker 1: man continues, this can be thought of as a religion
- 32:06Speaker 1: spreading through the wires into your subconscious. Okay, I understand
- 32:10Speaker 1: the title now, I totally forgot about that.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:13Speaker 1: We cut to a yellow background with black power lines
- 32:16Speaker 1: on it. We're really not doing any animation now, and
- 32:20Speaker 1: then we're kind of looking up at a building with
- 32:22Speaker 1: this really weird exposure, and another man says, would you
- 32:26Speaker 1: go out with me if you already have a boyfriend?
- 32:28Speaker 2: I apologize.
- 32:29Speaker 1: We see like a black and white parking garage. It's
- 32:31Speaker 1: got kind of like red and green tints, like the
- 32:33Speaker 1: colors don't really line up, you know, And this man continues,
- 32:37Speaker 1: if you really like him, I'll give up on you,
- 32:38Speaker 1: but please browse the code J nine four sixty five
- 32:42Speaker 1: four eight eight A eight nine We cut back to Lane,
- 32:46Speaker 1: and then we see that city again with like the
- 32:48Speaker 1: lights in the windows, but now the lights are kind
- 32:50Speaker 1: of yellowish peachish. This is really not that interesting, and
- 32:54Speaker 1: a woman says, whoever gets this, male, please help me.
- 32:58Speaker 1: We see a bunch of buildings and things. They're just stuff,
- 33:01Speaker 1: and the woman continues, you may not believe this, but
- 33:04Speaker 1: I'm always being followed.
- 33:05Speaker 2: We get back to Lane.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Maybe that first woman says, Lane, why won't.
- 33:10Speaker 2: You hurry up and come here.
- 33:11Speaker 1: At this point, a red light passes over her face.
- 33:14Speaker 2: She looks up.
- 33:15Speaker 1: A red laser dot is on the wall. Now fuck,
- 33:19Speaker 1: and it's like moving around like a cat toy. Like
- 33:22Speaker 1: it didn't look like it had any intention. It was
- 33:23Speaker 1: just like I'm just moving across the walls. I don't
- 33:26Speaker 1: know why that was happening like that, but it's like, Lane,
- 33:28Speaker 1: you need to chase this. It's like exactly what I
- 33:30Speaker 1: do with my cat, except I don't use a laser.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I use sunlight because that's what she likes. She got
- 33:35Speaker 1: really bored of lasers, but she thinks sunlight is cool
- 33:38Speaker 1: when I reflect off my phone. So it's like the
- 33:40Speaker 1: same thing as that, just kind of like moving around randomly,
- 33:43Speaker 1: and Lane's like, huh. She gets up and looks out
- 33:46Speaker 1: the window, and those two men are just standing in
- 33:48Speaker 1: the middle of the street outside, Like the fuck dudes,
- 33:51Speaker 1: you were so conspicuous, like so fucking conspicuous. Anyways, she
- 33:56Speaker 1: kind of like snarls at them as a lasers just
- 33:58Speaker 1: kind of like run over her body. And then there's
- 34:01Speaker 1: just like a lot of like her watching them and
- 34:04Speaker 1: them clearly like looking back at her, and the laser's
- 34:07Speaker 1: kind of like moving over her, which makes no sense actually,
- 34:10Speaker 1: because they aren't moving. So how are the lasers moving
- 34:13Speaker 1: Because the lasers are just attached to their goggles, so
- 34:16Speaker 1: the only way they would move is if they were
- 34:17Speaker 1: turning their heads, and they're not. So this is a
- 34:20Speaker 1: problem and I'm having trouble suspending my disbelief now. Anyway,
- 34:24Speaker 1: Lane's finally like, just go away. At this point, the
- 34:27Speaker 1: smaller guy has like turned his head and he's talking
- 34:30Speaker 1: to the bigger guy, but obviously we're looking at this
- 34:32Speaker 1: through the window, so we don't hear what they're saying.
- 34:34Speaker 1: He looks back up at Lane, and Lane says, go away.
- 34:38Speaker 1: At this the window like morphs like almost like it
- 34:42Speaker 1: is water kind of it gets kind of clearer in
- 34:44Speaker 1: the middle, like almost like if a water droplet fell
- 34:47Speaker 1: into it. It kind of like fluctuates, and all of
- 34:51Speaker 1: a sudden, the smaller guy's goggles like break right off
- 34:54Speaker 1: his face and like cut him in the process. He
- 34:57Speaker 1: puts his hand over his eye, and we cut to
- 35:00Speaker 1: Nabby's screen, which is getting kind of pixelated, and there's
- 35:03Speaker 1: like worrying in the background from the computer and all
- 35:06Speaker 1: like the little uh computer towers are like blinking really rapidly,
- 35:10Speaker 1: and we see that fan and then we go back
- 35:12Speaker 1: to Lane looking out the window and we see that
- 35:15Speaker 1: they are leaving.
- 35:16Speaker 2: The car door.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Closes, they make like a k turn and they speed off.
- 35:20Speaker 1: We hear Nab say, intruder interrupted. There are like a
- 35:25Speaker 1: lot of computer noises now as we are just kind
- 35:27Speaker 1: of pulling away from Lane, who's still standing up the window.
- 35:30Speaker 1: We cut to the exterior. The computer noises are still
- 35:33Speaker 1: present in the background, but now the power lines are
- 35:35Speaker 1: humming over them too.
- 35:37Speaker 2: To be continued, let me go to the ending theme
- 35:40Speaker 2: and that's it. So, yeah, hooray. Closing thoughts.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, So I have a lot of questions and
- 35:49Speaker 1: some of them are just like what are we doing,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and some of them are about the plots. So first
- 35:54Speaker 1: of all, the lazer thing was weird, but also like,
- 35:57Speaker 1: I don't understand this voicemail thing that's happening. We were
- 36:00Speaker 1: not doing that in nineties. We're really not doing that now.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Like no one is leaving voicemails on your computer.
- 36:06Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 36:06Speaker 1: It's like she's listening to an answering machine. So I
- 36:09Speaker 1: don't get why it's being done that way. I mean
- 36:11Speaker 1: I kind of do, because if it was just Navvi
- 36:14Speaker 1: reading all of these emails or her just looking at
- 36:17Speaker 1: the emails, it would be kind of bland. So at
- 36:20Speaker 1: least like this has a little bit of it adds
- 36:22Speaker 1: a little bit of interest when you have like different
- 36:24Speaker 1: voices and like, you know, different emotions and shit. I guess,
- 36:28Speaker 1: but I just thought it was weird because I just
- 36:30Speaker 1: don't really understand exactly how it's working like this. But
- 36:35Speaker 1: I guess this is the way things have developed in
- 36:38Speaker 1: this world that we have like voicemail on computers.
- 36:41Speaker 2: But it's weird.
- 36:43Speaker 1: And unfortunately the scenes where people are like talking and
- 36:47Speaker 1: shit through voicemail or like just really uninterested. I mean, visually,
- 36:52Speaker 1: it's always like we're cutting between Lane staring at the
- 36:55Speaker 1: computer and then like just random shots of shit like
- 36:59Speaker 1: cities power lines, which, yeah, they had to put something there,
- 37:04Speaker 1: and I don't really know what would be a better choice,
- 37:06Speaker 1: but it's a little bit repetitive and just not great.
- 37:11Speaker 1: But hey, whatever, So I wanted to talk about this
- 37:14Speaker 1: before and I stop myself, but the thing about Lane changing,
- 37:18Speaker 1: she's definitely acting different, Like she was very timid and
- 37:22Speaker 1: quiet before, and she is obviously acting more not timid
- 37:27Speaker 1: and quiet, or at least not as timid. Maybe she's
- 37:31Speaker 1: still kind of quiet, but I guess there's kind of
- 37:34Speaker 1: a I don't know if I want to say joy
- 37:36Speaker 1: to her that she didn't have, like, which is good.
- 37:39Speaker 1: It's kind of weird that this is what brought.
- 37:42Speaker 2: It out of her.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And it's honestly really weird that she knows how to
- 37:46Speaker 1: take up our computers and install shit, and she knows
- 37:49Speaker 1: what oscillation.
- 37:50Speaker 2: The thing is supposed to go at.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, she could read books and shit, and
- 37:54Speaker 1: she's obviously communicating with people online and stuff, but like,
- 37:58Speaker 1: what is going on her? I mean, she just got
- 38:01Speaker 1: like really really into this all of a sudden. And yeah,
- 38:06Speaker 1: and as I said before, like what's going on with
- 38:08Speaker 1: all these extra computers and shit, Like where are they
- 38:11Speaker 1: coming from? I mean, her dad is definitely right, she
- 38:14Speaker 1: is obsessed. But yeah, the whole thing with her friends
- 38:17Speaker 1: being like, oh, she's changed, I mean, I guess she has,
- 38:21Speaker 1: but I just didn't get the impression that they like
- 38:22Speaker 1: really knew her to begin with. So it could even
- 38:26Speaker 1: just be that she is getting friendlier with them so she's.
- 38:29Speaker 2: More open with them, honestly.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I mean, if this wasn't insane, that could be the case. Also,
- 38:35Speaker 1: there's something about having people say you've changed, you've changed,
- 38:39Speaker 1: you've changed, over and over again that I hate, Like
- 38:42Speaker 1: it's just one more of those show don't tell things
- 38:44Speaker 1: for me, Like I can see the Lane has changed
- 38:47Speaker 1: and she's acting weird. We can see in Alice's face
- 38:50Speaker 1: that she's not comfortable with the way Lane's acting. I
- 38:53Speaker 1: don't need every character in her friend group that's not
- 38:56Speaker 1: they're like they're barely friends, to say like, you've changed changed, No,
- 39:01Speaker 1: because we can clearly see what's going on, So don't
- 39:03Speaker 1: like spoon feed it to me. Yeah, but yeah, something
- 39:06Speaker 1: is really really wrong, And like, how much power does
- 39:10Speaker 1: all this shit take in her house?
- 39:12Speaker 2: Is it?
- 39:12Speaker 1: Responsible to use that is she like, you know, stressing
- 39:15Speaker 1: out her circuit breaker and shatterer?
- 39:18Speaker 2: Is this all okay?
- 39:19Speaker 1: I mean her dad does have like a million monitors,
- 39:21Speaker 1: so maybe it's fun.
- 39:23Speaker 2: So we got all that happening.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Obviously, we have all of this stuff with the Knights
- 39:27Speaker 1: and this weird game of tag that got messed up
- 39:30Speaker 1: and shoved into a game of doom where like children
- 39:33Speaker 1: are going around trying to tag people, but those people
- 39:36Speaker 1: think they're in a game. I mean, I think it's interesting,
- 39:40Speaker 1: but also like I don't want to give credence the
- 39:42Speaker 1: idea that like video games make you violent, which I
- 39:45Speaker 1: almost feel like it's about to do, like we're right there.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I also wonder this dude had a gun. Where the
- 39:50Speaker 1: fuck did he get a gun from? Like we didn't
- 39:52Speaker 1: see it, but he obviously shot that little girl lots
- 39:56Speaker 1: and lots and lots of times, So where the fuck
- 40:00Speaker 1: did that come from? And why does Lane want to
- 40:03Speaker 1: go in the wired Like if I were her dad,
- 40:07Speaker 1: like when she said that, I would have been like, no,
- 40:09Speaker 1: that's like not a thing. It's not like a place
- 40:12Speaker 1: that you can go into, Like no, instead of being
- 40:16Speaker 1: like even with the top of the line, computer.
- 40:18Speaker 2: You couldn't do that.
- 40:19Speaker 1: No, it's not a thing. You can't go into the
- 40:21Speaker 1: internet physically. So yeah, I don't know. I'm worried about her.
- 40:26Speaker 1: And I'm worried that she's got these men standing outside
- 40:30Speaker 1: her house with laser sights on. There are goggles staring
- 40:33Speaker 1: at her, and how did she break that guy's thing?
- 40:36Speaker 2: Like, what is going on?
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, that's all I got. I just said
- 40:41Speaker 1: a bunch of things. Oh, one more thing. This is
- 40:43Speaker 1: gonna come off as weird to some of you. Probably
- 40:47Speaker 1: it's not a nitpick about the show. It's just about
- 40:49Speaker 1: a character relationships. But like, I don't like Alice. I
- 40:54Speaker 1: don't like the way that she defends Lane.
- 40:57Speaker 2: She defends her in a.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Way that makes me feel like she also has the
- 41:01Speaker 1: same feelings that the other people have. I don't know
- 41:04Speaker 1: how to describe it, because I've had people stand up
- 41:07Speaker 1: for me like this and it just made me feel worse.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Like when Judy was like saying, oh, you liked the
- 41:13Speaker 1: computer more than you like your friends, and Alise was like, hey,
- 41:17Speaker 1: leave her alone. I just didn't think it was that
- 41:19Speaker 1: big of a deal. Like Lane didn't react in a
- 41:21Speaker 1: way to that that made me think that she was
- 41:24Speaker 1: severely hurt by that. So like when someone else makes
- 41:28Speaker 1: it into a bigger deal, like stop teasing her, like
- 41:30Speaker 1: stop making her feel bad. Shit, it actually in those
- 41:34Speaker 1: cases made me feel worse. Well, like I didn't know
- 41:37Speaker 1: when it was appropriate to defend myself. I don't know
- 41:39Speaker 1: how to describe it, but I like hate these interactions
- 41:43Speaker 1: between her and these girls, and I hate these girls,
- 41:47Speaker 1: all of them, So sorry everyone if you like them.
- 41:51Speaker 1: This all just reminds me of high school in middle school, and.
- 41:54Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Except I didn't go into the internets when I was
- 41:58Speaker 1: in middle school in high school at all. So yeah, okay,
- 42:03Speaker 1: so I think that's pretty much it. I thought I
- 42:06Speaker 1: was gonna have a really stressful week because I thought
- 42:08Speaker 1: I had like a really big inspection tomorrow.
- 42:10Speaker 2: But they canceled.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yay, no money, So I don't have a really stressful week,
- 42:16Speaker 1: at least not at this exact moment when I'm.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Recording this, but maybe tomorrow.
- 42:21Speaker 1: So hopefully, as long as the world does an end,
- 42:24Speaker 1: I will see you next week, and I'm gonna go
- 42:28Speaker 1: and do whatever the hell it is I do. I'm
- 42:30Speaker 1: gonna plant flowers. Yeah, in the ground like you do,
- 42:35Speaker 1: so actually in a pod, but whatever. I hope that
- 42:38Speaker 1: you have a really good whatever, and
- 42:42Speaker 2: I will see you soon I assume later weeks.
