Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / The Best Time To Workout
Transcript
- 0:00What's the best time to work out? You know a lot of people.
- 0:02Of course, it's just like when you can if at all. You know,
- 0:05this is assuming that you're working out, which you know, I think
- 0:08we all go through different seasons of fitness. Totally currently in my season of
- 0:13actually doing it, which has been a goal of mine for some time.
- 0:17But what the best time of day is. Researchers at the renowned University of
- 0:22Sydney, Australia YEP have found that working out at night could be the best
- 0:28for your health. We were just discussing this, so of course Saturdays and
- 0:32Sundays. I love nothing more than waking up and being able to get a
- 0:36workout in. For me, like a morning workout, great start to the
- 0:39day, get you that little mojo. Of course, we're not able to
- 0:42do that unless I'm working out between three and three thirty am, which is
- 0:47impossible. I guess I shouldn't say impossible. Well, it's like I'm not
- 0:51that motivated. For a while, I tried where i'd you know, go
- 0:54run or is it like run for fifteen minutes even before I showered and got
- 0:58ready for work, So this would be like three forty five in the morning.
- 1:02That didn't last very long. I'm like, no, just let me
- 1:03do it later. Yeah, So when I get home, like around one
- 1:07o'clock, sometimes I can just like work out right then and that'll keep me
- 1:11motivated through the day. But sometimes if I can get like a twenty minute
- 1:14quick nappen to like rejuvenate myself. It's just you have to have that little
- 1:18nap because you can't go over the top otherwise you're exhausted. But it was
- 1:23a couple of weeks ago, I did a really late workout for me which
- 1:26was like six thirty and just like jumped in the shower afterwards, and I
- 1:30was exhaust Like it was like the perfect I got a great night of sleep.
- 1:33I'm like, maybe that is the key spot. It's interesting because they
- 1:36do warn you that weren't are working out too close to bedtime, you won't
- 1:38be able to sleep, because it's funny how that works. When you work
- 1:42out, sometimes you have more energy, you know, you get that high
- 1:45feeling. But they say that the people in the study who worked out at
- 1:49night, and what they consider workout is moderate to vigorous activity lasting three minutes
- 1:55or longer. So and get creative with what that might be I was gonna
- 2:00to ask, what is night considered, like, well, evening tonight,
- 2:02so okay, you know, six pm or later is what they're saying.
- 2:06And what the research found was not necessarily you're gonna lose more weight, You're
- 2:08gonna be in better shape because you know, I think it's sort of potato
- 2:12potato just doing it in general. Yeah, but it's the long term effects
- 2:16of working out at night. The people in the study who did the evening
- 2:20workouts had fewer diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, microvascular disease,
- 2:27kidney disease. I mean, it's just the endless amount of benefits to
- 2:30working out at night. One other benefit I think is because then you're tending
- 2:35to probably not drink because you've been working out instead of like opening a bottle
- 2:38of wine. Yeah, you're you know, maybe whipping up a protein shake
- 2:42and after a workout, I'm not going to dive into a big meal,
- 2:45So you're also gonna probably not eat as much. Yeah. And if there's
- 2:47ever a time I don't feel like having junk food or drinks, it's after
- 2:51a workout, yeah, because you're just like in that fitness mode, like
- 2:54no I don't want to ruin it. Why would I spoil that great workout
- 2:58with a pizza? All right, let's try the night workouts, Pike.
- 3:01Let's see how that goes for us six pm to start like a little text.
- 3:06It's like, okay, we need we do need to get a star
- 3:07chart. We've been talking about that. Yeah we have. I'd be killing
- 3:10it too, I'd have so many gold stars up there right now. All
- 3:14right, I'll work on it, bringing a little bringing all the kids.
- 3:16They're done with their uh, their peachchart, so I'll bring that in and
- 3:20we can start putting the peach chart. Yeah, like when they go to
- 3:22the bathroom. Oh, literally, a peach chart. I were kidding a
- 3:25minute in the morning, big nutty eight point seven, you want to suspect
- 3:30a thing? When do you hear that telephone room by freend what's lacking?
- 3:36Number? This lesson by spread a sunny want arrested bags friend well with wedding
- 3:45season right upon us here, Amanda, this couple is getting married in just
- 3:47a few short weeks. So you know you got all the details ironed out,
- 3:51You've got it all ready to go. But what if something were to
- 3:53go wrong just weeks before can you imagine? No, I would lose my
- 3:58mind. So this woman has reached out. She wants to to mess with
- 4:00her fiance about their catering. Oh, she does, that's her idea.
- 4:03Usually everybody's messing with the bride. I kind of like this. I let's
- 4:06give this rascal of calls see if we can't get them. Hello. Hi,
- 4:15is this Brandon? Good morning Brandon. This is a Joe milkhouse over
- 4:19here at Catering and Fargo. We got a little situation, and so I
- 4:24just want to run something by you, if you got a second Okay,
- 4:27first I should ask are you still planning on having your wedding on May third?
- 4:31Yeah? That's our wedding date. Okay, is that movable at all?
- 4:38No, it's in three weeks. We can absolutely not move our wedding
- 4:42date. What is the problem here? Well, okay, well this is
- 4:44embarrassing, jeez. But you know I know that you had the sirloin steaks
- 4:48you'd ordered for the dinner. Correct, Yeah, okay, Well here's the
- 4:53thing. I got into a little thing with the guy at our steak supplier,
- 4:58and well they're not going to give us the steaks anymore. What the
- 5:01hell does that even mean you got into a thing with him. Yeah,
- 5:04it was this whole thing. The guy said, I looked like Brian Cranston.
- 5:09I said, no freaking way do I look like Cranston? YadA,
- 5:13YadA. They're not going to give us the steaks anymore. Basically, you've
- 5:16got to be kidding me. So what are you going to do about our
- 5:18steaks? Well, I mean that's where I finally have some good news,
- 5:21because I managed to come up with a solution all on my own. Here's
- 5:26what I'm thinking. If you could just ask your guests to bring their own
- 5:29steaks, we would still be willing to cook them, and we could serve
- 5:32them and, you know, really everything except for bringing the steak. It'd
- 5:35be sort of like a b yos situation. Uh No, we're not asking
- 5:41our guests to bring their own meat to our wedding. That's absurd. What
- 5:45if I said, they could, you know, also bring maybe like a
- 5:46chicken or a pork chops if they prefer. Now, how the hell are
- 5:51they supposed to bring a pork chop? I don't know, Wrap it up
- 5:56in some foil, put in your purse. I haven't thought that far.
- 5:59Listen, I want to make this right, but you're gonna have to maybe
- 6:01meet me halfway here. Uh, this is so unbelievable. I'm not going
- 6:06to tell my fiance that our guests need to bring their own meat, So
- 6:11either get some freaking steak somewhere else, or we're gonna have to find someone
- 6:15who will. I hear you, I hear you clucking, big chicken.
- 6:17I gotta tell you, though, Brandon, this is a prank call what
- 6:21yeah, prank, Come on, non, nobody's bringing their own meat.
- 6:24Just relax, it's piking a mandate in the morning. I'm gonna draw the
- 6:27line here because I feel bad for you. We were tasked with pranking you
- 6:30by your wife or I guess soon to be white. We'll call her your
- 6:32fiance for now. Jana. She thought it'd be fun to have one last
- 6:35laugh before you guys tied the big knot so oh my god, I'm gonna
- 6:40kill her. I love it. No, it sounds I think the steaks
- 6:42will be delicious and nobody will have to bring their own so we can get
- 6:46an invite. Usually we get like dried up chicken or something, you know.
- 6:49Yeah, but when I get a manna in the morning seven, the
- 6:56problem I face every morning anyway, is that this is only a four hour
- 7:00radio show, and there's so many things I want to talk about, but
- 7:02you only can pick like the best stuff, right, And so with that
- 7:06set, Amanda, I'd like to discuss grilled cheese. Okay, this is
- 7:13the gosh one of my favorite topics. Yes, because a survey was just
- 7:16conducted and this is a big survey commissioned by Pepperidge Farm, thank you,
- 7:21and five thousand American adults were surveyed on how much they eat grilled cheese and
- 7:26it was found the average person eats thirty six grilled cheeses per year. Thirty
- 7:31six. That's like my kids definitely are up in that they love a good
- 7:35grilled cheese. Well that's like three a month, isn't it sort of a
- 7:38kid, I don't know that I've had a grilled cheese as an adult really,
- 7:42So we do grilled ham and cheese. Sandwich is a lot with soup
- 7:45that's kind of a go to in the winter for us. And isn't it
- 7:46mandatory to have tomato soup? Yes, tomato ba is ald tomato soup.
- 7:50Yeah. So yeah, I saw this. I'm like, well, this
- 7:53is a ridiculous thing. There's no way adults are eating that many oh grilled
- 7:57cheeses. If you're like my husband, he likes to dip his in ketchup.
- 8:01That is like if we do like tater tots with it, I can
- 8:05maybe let it dabble into the ketchup, But that's not really my jam.
- 8:09People are getting way too loosey goosey with ketchup. And I also think that
- 8:13now like adult grilled cheese sandwiches. Have you ever had over at Blernie Stone
- 8:18on Mondays? They have that uh grilled cheese sandwach sam Oh Boys sandwich grilled
- 8:26cheese with cottage bacon. Like if you just like doctor it up. I
- 8:30like to add avocado to a grilled cheese sandwich. Okay, but at what
- 8:33point is no longer a grilled cheese. It's just a sandwich with cheese on
- 8:37it. Well, no, because it's still a grilled cheese. And then
- 8:39you add a couple little things. It's not come adding and like lettuce and
- 8:41tomato, you're adding a ton of stuff just avocado. It's ham that grilled
- 8:48cheese is only a grilled cheese if it consists of grilled cheese. That's my
- 8:54thought Anyway, They did say though that they respondence to the study, the
- 8:58best kind of grilled cheese consists of two slices of American cheese on white bread,
- 9:03medium toasted and cut diagonally. Yeah, sometimes I cut it in squares
- 9:07for my kids. That there's something about that too, where it's just like
- 9:11one bite and then do you eat the crust or no, because if it's
- 9:13not cheesy enough, I leave the crust behind. Leave the crust. Yeah,
- 9:18No, you gotta have the crust unless you dip it in the soup
- 9:22and it's kind of like adds a little extra crisp to it. Well,
- 9:24yeah, because if you take the crust off it, there's no more barrier,
- 9:26so it can really soak into the bread. And then you gotta do
- 9:30pepper jack and cheddar. What says here American? Which you know, what
- 9:35does he eat? What America? What is American cheese? Because I looked
- 9:37it up and it's yellow, But then at subway it's white, So what
- 9:41the heck are we doing? And what at subway it's white? Yeah,
- 9:43you get an American cheese at subway it's white. Chatter is yellow. But
- 9:48like like craft singles, is what I'm envisioning for American cheese, and that's
- 9:52what people are using mostly. But I don't know. I guess if I
- 9:54were to trust a country with cheese, it probably wouldn't be America. And
- 9:58listen, I love America. So you know, how would you rate this
- 10:03conversation Now that we're kind of at the end of the line, I've just
- 10:05I mean, out of all the topics we were going to discuss today,
- 10:07and grilled cheese just happens to be one of them. I really would like
- 10:11to reinforce the fact that despite my thoughts on American cheese, I am I
- 10:18am a patriot. Think people were concerned Amanda in the morning, I know,
- 10:24Amanda Stills. Let's see. Let's see. I think people are loving
- 10:28how transparent Travis Kelcey has been with his relationship with Taylor Swift. On his
- 10:33podcast yesterday, he was obviously talking to his brother, but he had a
- 10:37special guest, Little Dicky was there and talking about his relationship. It is
- 10:41pretty wild and they were talking about it yesterday. I'm having a blast in
- 10:45life, baby, Yeah, just flying hat as you should, bringing new
- 10:48new lives to the football world. Yeah. I think it's the best thing
- 10:50I ever bring the football world up to new things. I love it.
- 10:54I think a lot of people who would maybe expect to hit on it actually
- 10:56love it, and they acknowledge they love it because it's just so oh,
- 11:00there's something so American about it, or something to say, there's something like
- 11:05just classic about it. I don't know how I did, because she does
- 11:07not she wasn't into sports. It's a little dicky to put it so perfectly.
- 11:11It is a fairy tale, and I know that sounds so cheesy,
- 11:15given like I mean, Taylor Swift has lyrics and some of her songs about
- 11:18stuff like this, like happens mocking like the high school, like yeah,
- 11:22from cheerleader dating the jock. You know, that's kind of what it is.
- 11:26She's America sweetheart, and he's just a good looking football player. He's
- 11:31more than that. Now all right, Now, by the way I did
- 11:35see it, he is doing that Are you smarter than the fifth grade?
- 11:37Or he's hosting paying No, he's hosting it. Yeah, So that actually
- 11:41is a real thing that's going on. Melrose Plays. They're getting a reboot
- 11:46and they're bringing back some of the OG cast members. Now, this was
- 11:48one of my favorite shows growing up my mom and I watched it every Monday.
- 11:52It was classic Heather Locklear, Laura Lighton. They're trying to get everybody
- 11:58back on board with this now. The whole thing is from the original series,
- 12:03A Dear Friend dies. They all gathered to say goodbye, and that's
- 12:05we're gonna pick up where they left off. I am hesitant, though,
- 12:09because nine O two one zero we were all jacked about that. The whole
- 12:11past was read say we all, well, you weren't a nine two oh
- 12:16fan. I wasn't. Yeah, don't include I'm saying the fans of it,
- 12:20and it was just you kept watching it hoping it was gonna get better,
- 12:24and it just kept getting worse and worse, just so bad. Just
- 12:30have to accept there will be no good rebooted TV show. They just won't.
- 12:35And so except it's painful because you get excited about it, but then
- 12:37they kind of let you down. I mean, it's fun to see the
- 12:41characters back, like that's cool for a second, just to see it,
- 12:45yeah, and then after that you have to have to enjoy the show,
- 12:48and it's just hard to do. Gypsy Rose, she officially filed for divorce
- 12:52and it's gonna cost her some big old money. So when she got married
- 12:54to Ryan, I guess she had the first series that she did with Lifetime.
- 13:00I'm like her post prison interview that was put in a trust so he
- 13:03can't touch that. But then they signed on for another series with Lifetime,
- 13:07which he's going to get cash in cashing aloud of big checks from And then
- 13:11she wrote a book, so that is also going to be a part of
- 13:13money he could collect if he is getting dirty, which I would think he
- 13:18probably would, but I don't know much about him. He's a teacher,
- 13:22and uh, it's a better profession than hiring people to kill your mom.
- 13:26I mean, if you were to compare the two, wouldn't you say?
- 13:31I see? And this is where I like that. You're just being so
- 13:35open about it because we're talking about gypsy roses though like that, I say,
- 13:41we are all sympathetic of what she went through as a child. Of
- 13:43course, Yeah, I'm sorry. I draw the line at killing people.
- 13:46That's just I'm not I've made the stand on the show before. I do
- 13:50not stand for murder, correct, That's just me, and I'm not supporting
- 13:54her. I'm just intrigued by it. Much like like the book, I
- 14:00I might read it, gonna want to know more about it. What if
- 14:01OJ's got a novel coming out you could buy while you're at it? Didn't
- 14:05it wasn't it called like the glove didn't fit? Oh yeah, well he
- 14:09wasn't even convicted. So don't even put them in the same sentence, like
- 14:15an in the morning on a big nuddy eight point seven. You know,
- 14:18these gen zs, they get sort of a bad rap, kind of like
- 14:22and I remember when it was millennials, who are the ones under the microscope
- 14:24about doing all these new stupid things. Well, I actually have a good
- 14:28story about gen Z. You know, you gotta be fair. They've gone
- 14:30viral a group of gen Zers that we're talking like teenagers for doing something really
- 14:35admirable. It was somebody at a restaurant and they had in the restaurant there
- 14:39was a big group of young kids gen Z, and they noticed that on
- 14:43the table as everybody was talking and laughing, was a massive pile of cell
- 14:48phones. These kids wanted to just be present with each other, the people
- 14:52they love, and they put their phones in a pile. And so now
- 14:56people are praising gen Z for really doing the opposite of what we sort of
- 15:01generalize them as doing it's being on their phones all the time. Yeah,
- 15:05absolutely amazing. I just talked to you the other day. We were talking
- 15:07about going out on dates still and how sometimes I'll just leave my phone in
- 15:11the car, and to me, it's the most romantic thing in the world.
- 15:15Oh my gosh. When my husband, because he is like, oh
- 15:16yeah, he'll leave his phone in the car on the weekend or something at
- 15:20the lake, is like I don't need it. I'm like, you don't
- 15:22need it? Come again, you know me. Definitely the need category,
- 15:30But a lot of it too, is in the middle of a conversation.
- 15:33How many times if you don't have your phone you're like, hey, just
- 15:37look that up or check it out. Yeah. It's amazing to me how
- 15:39dependent we are on it and our lack of a truly pathetic. Really yes,
- 15:45And it's not even like dinner. It's something even smaller, like I
- 15:50can't go to the bathroom. This is pathetic. You know, men,
- 15:52we have these things called urinals. You stand there anyway. I can't stand
- 15:56at a urinal for that whatever, the eighteen seconds it takes without a phone
- 16:00in one all. Yeah, it's right. Yeah, well, okay,
- 16:04I know it's probably gross too. It is gross, And that's also like
- 16:08a whole other conversation because I can sit here and just look at you and
- 16:11say how disgusting it is. But also I'd be lying to everybody if I
- 16:17didn't bring my phone to the bathroom, you know, I mean, and
- 16:18also, yeah, we're washing our hands. But when you think about all
- 16:23of that, just grow right. That's why they make those dispensers for the
- 16:26toilet paper and so you can set your phone there. That's what those are
- 16:30for. But I will point out exactly the few gen Z I know,
- 16:36like my wife has young siblings, so our youngest sisters in high school,
- 16:38and we'll hang out with her and she always calls me and my wife screen
- 16:42agers. It's a little term they've coined. Really yeah, because we'll be
- 16:47on her phone and she's like calling us out for being on her phone.
- 16:49That is really interesting. I know a lot of people play the game too,
- 16:52so and I don't know if this is what the gen Z crew when
- 16:56they put their phones in there. It's like if somebody grabs their phone,
- 16:59then you have to buy everybody drink if for what you're doing. So I
- 17:02don't know if It's like a drinking game for them where somebody has to buy
- 17:04the tab. That's funny to say, but then when it's you, it's
- 17:07like, well, I'm not gonna do that. I'm not going to buy
- 17:11around. What come on? What if it's an emergency? And that's that's
- 17:15what you tell yourself. That's how you cope with always being on your phone.
- 17:18It's like, wow, you gotta have it because what if, oh
- 17:19gosh, I have kids. I mean, what if I got a message
- 17:22and I had to go pick them up immediately? Last night it was a
- 17:25beautiful night, so we went for a walk and I thought, you know,
- 17:26I could just leave my phone at home. Nobody wants that bulky phone
- 17:30swinging around in their shorts. But what if what if we get attacked in
- 17:33the park. We got to have a phone. Now here's what you need
- 17:38to know. Well, the Packers are going to be playing the Eagles for
- 17:45the NFL's first Brazil game. It's gonna be the season opener September sixth.
- 17:48Pike. I thought for sure this was going to be like an instant,
- 17:52You're going, But I forgot you already had travel plans. I know,
- 17:55well, just picking back from Italy. Of course that weekend I have a
- 17:57couple of weddings and tjangs, so not in the cards to go to Brasil,
- 18:02South America to watch the Factors play so cool. It would be so
- 18:04fun. I also go back and forth because it's like, I love the
- 18:07Packers, I would love to see him play. But I get the need
- 18:10to want to combine a trip to Brazil with watching the Packers. But when
- 18:12you rather just watch the Packers at Lambeau and then go to Brazil for Brazil
- 18:17things, I don't know. I mean, I think it'd be like an
- 18:19all encompassing trip. You're not just gonna like fly in game day and leave.
- 18:23Yeah, I don't know. It would be a lot of fun.
- 18:26It's not good experience. It's cool. It's cool that they're moving the NFL
- 18:27to different parts of the world, and this one. The time zone seems
- 18:32to be better where I always say, yeah, yeah, I do enjoy
- 18:36though I think it was a London game. I like waking up on a
- 18:38Sunday morning, It's like eight o'clock, we got football, let's get going.
- 18:42That is kind of fun. I knew a guy that lived in Hawaii
- 18:45for a while and it's the same thing. Like the first NFL games kick
- 18:48up at eight am, and then the next ones are at noon and the
- 18:52Sunday night games at three pm. It's just like the perfect day. You're
- 18:55in bed by seven. Oh what a dream? Solid also going on this
- 19:00What was that I was gonna say? And you live in Hawaii, things
- 19:03are okay. There's that the Olympics are going to be in Paris as you
- 19:07know, this summer and for the first time ever, gold medalists are gonna
- 19:10be taken home fifty thousand dollars with their prize. So if you're a part
- 19:14of like a relay, you're gonna have to divide that by four. But
- 19:17still you are Yeah, it said that. It said, are you making
- 19:21that the prize for relay gold split between the winning PARTICIPANTSH my god. Yeah,
- 19:26I'm not making it up after taxes of just throw some peanuts at them.
- 19:30Well, and I never really thought about it, but yes, of
- 19:33course, most of our Olympians they're cashing in because of endorsements and sponsorships and
- 19:37different things like that. But ultimately, is it a big payday because I
- 19:41don't know think you've paid anything other than this now and then we've heard from.
- 19:47I cannot remember his name, it still be my mind. Remember the
- 19:48guy who did the shot put any shot putters, He was from NDSU.
- 19:55Oh yeah, we hadn't come in here and anyway, just the like the
- 20:00living condition, you didn't do anything. That must have been your last boyfriend.
- 20:03You weren't here that time. Okay, well through that hot minute you
- 20:07left me, but we were keeping in touch with him, and just like
- 20:11the way they were living. I mean, you just you think an olympian
- 20:14you're going to the Olympics are going to have you set up real nice.
- 20:17Only a few of them have that set up. It's listen, it's a
- 20:19lot of work, obviously, years of it, commitment for little glory.
- 20:23I mean a lot of glory, just not financial glory, more of a
- 20:27project. It really is. Who's your favorite Olympian of all time? Either
- 20:32Simone Biles or I Michael Phelps is definitely still up there. Yeah, but
- 20:37he smoked that pot, so yeah, I'm just kidding. Oh Tanya hurting
- 20:45Nancy Carrigan, Oh yeah, that'd be who did the leg crushing Tanya heart
- 20:51poor Nancy. Yeah, I wonder who my favorite Olympian is? Are you
- 20:56wondering. Yeah, okay, hm hmm, peekaboos street the slalom skier or
- 21:02who's the actual skier? Who is the anton Apollo anton Ono? Yeah,
- 21:07yeah, all right, or some wrestlers like of course you got to get
- 21:11the wrestlers in there. Name one Cale Sanderson. Okay, got it?
- 21:15All right? Wait I knew him personally. I went to his camp,
- 21:18did you really he was Yeah, he was coaching a camp at Iowa staying
- 21:22and I was in high school and we were warming up. It was the
- 21:25big session where Kyle Sanderson, undefeated college wrestler, four time national champion,
- 21:29Olympic gold medal medalists, current head coach at Penn State. Anyway, we're
- 21:33running, You're supposed to be running like hard, and I was kind of
- 21:36messing around. It was summer, you know, some jogging. And he
- 21:38looks me in the eyes, dead in the eyes, this olympian, and
- 21:41he goes, that's a casual jog, my friend, I've never ran faster
- 21:45in my life. Pick me up, humiliated. All right, Today it
- 21:51is going to be sunny, there is a chance of some rain. High
- 21:52of about fifty seven. That's a casual forecast. My friend Amanda in the
- 21:57morning. Come on, get up on big. Some people are better at
- 22:03giving gifts than others, and totally yes, And then they kind of make
- 22:06you feel bad because you never can reciprocate, reciprocate, you know what I
- 22:10mean. But this, this lady received the gift of a lifetime. And
- 22:12Amanda, I know you're gonna love this personally, okay, because she shared
- 22:15online that she had just moved into a house about ten months before this story,
- 22:21and so she received in the mail package and she's like, oh,
- 22:23package nice. And the only people that know her address are the people in
- 22:26her close circle. Of course, there's got to be somebody she knows and
- 22:30loves. But the package did not have a name on it, so it
- 22:33was a mystery. But in the package was a bag, and in the
- 22:37bag was a collection of finger and toenails. Oh gross. Now it's what
- 22:44is wrong with people. But tell me if this makes up for it at
- 22:48all, because on the package were three words that said thinking of you.
- 22:53Ah no, no, what is this like a serial killer? I'm coming
- 22:57for your toenail clipping. I'm thinking of you. You don't have to kill
- 23:02the person to get the toenails, that's true, but that's a little hasty,
- 23:06But I'm I'm definitely on high alert and I'm calling the police and I'm
- 23:11going, are you real You're you're gonna waste our law enforcement's valuable time with
- 23:15the bag of toenails. Maybe I won't call them, I'll just show up
- 23:18at the police station be like, here's after I have like gloves on and
- 23:22everything, like, here's a bag of toenails. These got sent to me.
- 23:25Thank you for I appreciate DNA tests on them, and uh, figure
- 23:30out the return address all of it. Yes, No, that's creepy.
- 23:33You think you're gonna get a detective on that. Imagine that's the case.
- 23:36You're cracking running DNA on a toenails. All I'm worried about is the toenail
- 23:41toenails steal. Oh boy, we got a mouthful this morning. You shouldn't
- 23:45have had that peanut butter before we went on in the morning. Big Nutty
- 23:49eight point seven got a new term I'd like to introduce you to. And
- 23:53it's kind of annoying because you know, they got to put terms on everything
- 23:56now with the TikTok and internet and whatnot. The things have been going going
- 24:00on forever as long as a tail, as old as time, you could
- 24:03say. But there's a new term, Amanda, when it comes to your
- 24:04workplace called resentism. Resent Are you a practice or of resents? I would
- 24:12like to think I'm not. So. This is a term that's very similar
- 24:15to what you may have heard called quiet quitting, for somebody just basically gets
- 24:19a point where they hate their job, they resent their job and the people
- 24:23involved, their managers, and so they start to practice resentism, which is
- 24:29where they don't quit, they just start working a lot less and a lot
- 24:33less hard. You've seen people go through this situation, I think, right,
- 24:37I think I feel like more people than not practice resentism, right.
- 24:41I mean it's a catch twenty two because like, of course, if you're
- 24:44working for a big company and it's like you know that they don't maybe necessarily
- 24:48care about you, right, that's the whole kind of way of thinking now
- 24:51is like, oh, they don't care about you, and I'll fire you
- 24:52in a second, so why should you care about them? So then you'll
- 24:56do the bare minimum, which okay, you can do that, but it's
- 25:00a catch twenty two of well, if you want to move up or improve
- 25:03your situation, you can't do the bare minimum, right, and I guess
- 25:07I would go for more of the I wouldn't feel fulfilled and I would feel
- 25:11icky, you know what I mean, Like that wouldn't make a good balance
- 25:15in my life. Like I would not be okay with just being a resentee
- 25:18is yes, Like I would struggle in that. Yeah. Well, a
- 25:21lot of people say the biggest complaints about their workplace are feeling like they're being
- 25:25taken advantage of, feeling resentful of people with more flexibility, feeling excluded,
- 25:30feeling inadequate, and a lot of people are distaining jobs because there's a lot
- 25:34of feelings going on, like just big feelings. Well, it's interesting because
- 25:40you know everybody in whatever workplace you're in, and we've worked several places,
- 25:45they're like all the same, no matter what line of work you're in,
- 25:48no matter what the people are, it's like the same conversations are being had.
- 25:51Oh absolutely, Like every time you think, oh this happened, or
- 25:53you you feel like it's like, oh, probably just my job is like
- 25:57this. You you go a happy hour and it's like, wait a minute,
- 26:02is every job like this? Literally? I mean that's just the dynamics
- 26:06of it, don't you. My most common answer when people ask me about
- 26:08our job, it's like, oh, radio, that that's got to be
- 26:11fun. I'm like, yeah, you know, it's overall like a really
- 26:12good time. But you know, of course, believe it or not,
- 26:15we find things to complain about too, for sure. You know, it's
- 26:18just like I worked. I've worked radio jobs. I worked at a golf
- 26:22course, and I don't know if there's more drama than the guys working at
- 26:25a golf course. I mean, it's crazy. I realized we had such
- 26:29a parallel line of our career. Remember I worked at a golf course before
- 26:33radio. I think we were doing different things. You weren't the golf cart,
- 26:37girl boy, weren't you servicing the members making those out gin and tonics?
- 26:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, servant drinks. That's what I was doing.
