Transcript
- 0:27There comes a point when life stops asking you what you prefer and starts revealing what it requires.
- 0:39Not what you feel like doing. Not what used to work. Not what was enough five years ago.
- 0:49What it requires now.
- 0:55Because seasons change. Responsibilities change. People change. Your body changes.
- 1:04Your relationship changes. Your clarity sharpens. Your capacity shifts.
- 1:12And if you keep trying to meet a new season with an old version of yourself,
- 1:20something starts straining.
- 1:24Quietly, internally, you feel it in the tension,
- 1:31in the delay, in the low-grade frustration you cannot fully explain,
- 1:39in the repeated thought that something feels heavier than it should.
- 1:46You know those times that you don't feel like yourself?
- 1:50Those times that life feels heavy? Not because life is unfair,
- 1:55but because somewhere inside, you know this season is asking something different of you.
- 2:03Welcome back to the Eminence Legacy Podcast.
- 2:07I'm José Luis Cadena, and this is Midnight Questions, The space where we slow
- 2:14down long enough to face the questions that follow us.
- 2:20When everything gets quiet and tonight we sit with one that asks something real of us.
- 2:29What does your life require from you now?
- 2:34See, most people don't ask that question. They ask easier ones.
- 2:40What do I want? What do I feel like? What would make me comfortable?
- 2:47What would keep things simple?
- 2:49But life is not always asking for comfort.
- 2:53Sometimes life is asking for courage. Sometimes life is asking for discipline.
- 3:00Sometimes life is asking for boundaries. Sometimes life is asking for honesty.
- 3:08Sometimes life is asking for grief.
- 3:11Sometimes life is asking for healing.
- 3:15Sometimes life is asking for maturity. That your preferences are still resisting.
- 3:22And that is where people get stuck.
- 3:26Because we keep negotiating with the season that is no longer negotiating with us.
- 3:34You may want easy, but your life may require structure.
- 3:39You may want peace, but your life may require one hard conversation.
- 3:45You may want certainty, but your life may require a step of obedience before clarity shows up.
- 3:54You may want rest, but your life may require that you stop carrying what is not yours.
- 4:02That is the tension. The pain is not always that life is too much.
- 4:08Sometimes the pain is that life is calling for something from you.
- 4:14And part of you already knows it.
- 4:17There is a kind of exhaustion that comes from trying to avoid the very assignment
- 4:23your life is asking of you.
- 4:26And that kind of exhaustion is confusing because from the outside,
- 4:32you may still be doing a lot,
- 4:35still showing up, still producing, still helping, still functioning, still carrying,
- 4:44but something underneath,
- 4:46it all feels misaligned.
- 4:48Not because you are lazy, not because you are weak, but because activity is
- 4:54not the same as alignment.
- 4:57You can be doing plenty, believe me you can, and still be ignoring the one thing
- 5:03this season is truly asking of you.
- 5:07And when that happens, life starts feeling noisy.
- 5:13Cluttered, scattered, heavy in a strange ways.
- 5:18Because misalignment creates friction. It drains energy.
- 5:24It fragments attention. It makes simple things feel harder than they should.
- 5:30And sometimes the reason something feels so difficult is not because it is impossible.
- 5:38It is because you are trying to live this season.
- 5:42Without fully answering it.
- 5:46This is one of the harder truths of adulthood.
- 5:50Life does not only give, it also asks.
- 5:54It asks for endings. It asks for growth. It asks for resistance.
- 6:02It asks for restraint. It asks for sacrifice.
- 6:08It will ask for wisdom. It asks for a deeper version of you than the one you
- 6:15have been using by default.
- 6:18And if you never stop to ask, what is being required of me now?
- 6:24You will keep offering life what it no longer needs from you.
- 6:29That is how leaders stay emotionally outdated, spiritually delayed,
- 6:35and mentally scattered.
- 6:37Not because they had bad intentions but because they kept responding to the present,
- 6:44with habits, mindsets, and identities that belonged to an earlier chapter and
- 6:50eventually that creates pain because life does not bend forever,
- 6:56to the version of you that refuses to grow.
- 7:00At some point, what is required becomes unavoidable.
- 7:06Not always loudly, but clearly.
- 7:11And one of the most mature things a person can do is stop arguing with the season
- 7:18they are in and ask, What is this season trying to grow in me?
- 7:31So maybe tonight, this is not theoretical.
- 7:37Maybe your life is requiring something very specific now.
- 7:43Maybe it requires you to stop pretending you are fine and stop rescuing everyone around you.
- 7:51Maybe it requires you to become more disciplined with your money.
- 8:00Maybe it requires you to finally grieve what happened instead of performing strength around it.
- 8:10Maybe it requires you to return to the thing you buried because fear made it easier to delay.
- 8:18And if that feels uncomfortable, good, because not every true question is meant to comfort you first.
- 8:28Some questions are meant to wake you up.
- 8:32This may be one of them, because the real issue is rarely that you do not know anything.
- 8:41The deeper issue is often that you know enough to realize something is now being
- 8:47asked of you, and responding to that will cost you something.
- 8:53Comfort, delay, excuses, old patterns, emotional hiding places.
- 9:02That is why people stall. Not because the requirement is unclear,
- 9:07but because the response feels so costly.
- 9:12So let's make it personal. Not vague, not poetic for the sake of sounding deep. Real.
- 9:19What is your life requiring from you now? that you keep trying to postpone. Sit with that.
- 9:27Do not rush past it. Because usually the answer shows up faster than we want it to.
- 9:34You already know where the tension is. You already know what area keeps surfacing.
- 9:40You already know what keeps pulling at your attention when things get quiet.
- 9:46Maybe the better question is not, why do I feel so restless?
- 9:52Maybe the better question is, what am I being asked to become that I have not fully said yes to yet?
- 10:02That is a different kind of question. That question does not let you hide inside busyness.
- 10:09That question does not let you blame the calendar. That question does not let
- 10:14you pretend this is only about mood.
- 10:18That question asks for maturity. And maturity is not always visible.
- 10:25Sometimes maturity is simply the decision to stop resisting what reality is clearly asking of you.
- 10:35See, there are seasons when life feels unclear, and there are seasons when life
- 10:41feels deeply demanding, but even then, I do not believe those moments are empty.
- 10:47I deeply believe some seasons carry assignments, not random pressure,
- 10:54not meaningless stretching assignments, and the assignment has a way of revealing character.
- 11:03It reveals where we are avoiding, what we are drifting, where we are still living from old instincts.
- 11:13Where we have been asking God for direction while quietly resisting the responsibility
- 11:21already in front of us that truly matters.
- 11:25Because sometimes the prayer is not, God, show me something new.
- 11:32Sometimes the deeper prayer is, God, help me answer what is already being asked of me.
- 11:40That is a humbling prayer because it moves you out of the fantasy and back into stewardship.
- 11:49Not every season is glamorous. Not every season feels exciting.
- 11:55But every season can still be sacred.
- 11:59If you meet it honestly, and maybe that is part of faith too,
- 12:06not just trusting God for what is next, but being faithful with what is now.
- 12:14So what do we do with a question like this?
- 12:18We answer it carefully, honestly, without drama, without pretending,
- 12:24without making it bigger than it is.
- 12:28Just truth.
- 12:30What area of my life feels heavy right now?
- 12:35Be specific. Is it your body? Your marriage? Your finances? Your leadership?
- 12:42Your emotions? your spiritual life, your schedule, your peace?
- 12:48Where does life feel strained?
- 12:51Because heaviness often points towards requirement.
- 12:55Not always, but often.
- 12:58What might this season be asking of me in that area?
- 13:04Not what do you wish it asked. What is it actually asking? More discipline?
- 13:12More honesty? more structure, more rest, more courage, more boundaries,
- 13:19more humility, more responsibility, more surrender?
- 13:25Say it clearly.
- 13:27What response would bring me back into alignment?
- 13:32That is a very important question. What response would bring me back into alignment?
- 13:39I'm not talking about a perfect plan Not a speech A response A real one A conversation,
- 13:49A decision A boundary A return A release A scheduled change,
- 13:57An apology A commitment Something that matches the moment,
- 14:03Because clarity grows when response begins Not before tonight,
- 14:09before you close your eyes.
- 14:12Finish this sentence.
- 14:15My life is requiring.
- 14:23From me now. Fill in the blank. One word.
- 14:29One phrase. One truth.
- 14:33Then write this underneath it.
- 14:36The response I have been avoiding is.
- 14:43Again keep it honest no performance no overthinking no essay just truth.
- 14:53Then sit with both lines for one minute not to shame yourself not to panic but to let the truth settle.
- 15:04Because sometimes peace does not come from getting rid of the question.
- 15:09Sometimes peace begins when you stop running from the answer.
- 15:14So before we close tonight, let this settle. Your life is not only something happening to you.
- 15:22It is also something asking something from you.
- 15:26That does not mean you have to do everything.
- 15:30That does not mean you have to carry what is not yours.
- 15:34That does not mean you have to become harder, but it does mean that this season
- 15:41deserves an honest response from you.
- 15:45Not autopilot, not delay, not more hiding behind the later.
- 15:52An honest response because the version of you that this season requires will not appear by accident.
- 16:01Diversion is formed when you stop resisting what is real and start answering
- 16:08it quietly, clearly, one truthful step at a time.
- 16:14This episode found you tonight, do not let it become a temporary visit.
- 16:20If you're listening to this on a web browser or a link someone texted you,
- 16:25don't let it be a temporary visit.
- 16:28Hit follow right now on Spotify or podcast.
- 16:32Legacy builders do not just visit truth, they stay connected to it.
- 16:39And if someone came to mind while you were listening, someone who is standing
- 16:44in a season that is clearly asking something from them, send this to them.
- 16:51No speech, no long explanation. Just send it.
- 16:56Sometimes the right questions does not fix a person overnight.
- 17:01Sometimes it simply helps them stop avoiding what already knows their name.
- 17:07What does your life require from you now?
- 17:11Maybe that is not a comfortable question, but it's a necessary one because there
- 17:17are seasons that ask for more softness and there are seasons that ask for more strength.
- 17:23There are seasons that ask for rest and there are seasons that ask for resolve.
- 17:31There are seasons that ask for release and there are seasons that ask you to rise.
- 17:39The wisdom is not enforcing the same version of yourself into every chapter.
- 17:45The wisdom is listening closely enough to know what this one requires so tonight,
- 17:54stop asking only what you feel like doing,
- 17:58ask what your life is honestly calling for now and then answer it,
- 18:05not with noise not with performance not with another cheap promise.
- 18:15Answer it with a real response. This is the Eminence Legacy Podcast.
- 18:22This is Midnight Questions. I'm Jose Luis Cadena. Have a peaceful night.
- 18:28Those questions do not show up to disturb you. They show up to direct you.
- 18:35Together, let's rise to our eminence. For the past 12 weeks, we've met here.
- 18:43When the world got quiet, we've asked questions that most people avoid.
- 18:50Some were uncomfortable.
- 18:53Some were healing. Some may have stayed with you longer than you expected.
- 19:03Was always a gold because Midnight Questions was never created to give you more information.
- 19:14It was created to give you a room to hear your own soul again.
- 19:21Whether you have been here from the very first night or you found us somewhere
- 19:27along the road, thank you.
- 19:31These 12 conversations belong to all of us now.
- 19:37But every meaningful conversation needs room to breathe.
- 19:43So tonight, we are not saying goodbye.
- 19:48We are simply completing the first volume.
- 19:53Take these questions with you. Sit with them.
- 19:58Argue with them. Pray through them. Live them.
- 20:03Because questions only become wisdom when they leave the microphone and enter your life.
- 20:12When the time is right, when there are new spaces worth exploring and new truths worth walking into.
- 20:23We will turn the lamp back on. until then,
- 20:30do not just keep listening to this podcast listen to your life listen to your
- 20:38convictions listen to the assignments that ask something real of you,
- 20:45and when the room gets quiet again.
- 20:49You will know where to find us midnight questions will return Aaron.
