- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:07Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:11It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Chinook Cedry this episode 546, I'll be your host,
- 0:22Kyle Corwin. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:25Reyes. Nate.
- 0:29Casey, how are we, pal? I'm pretty, I'm pretty upset
- 0:36with myself. It's June 18th and I've yet to
- 0:45be to a Major League Baseball game this year.
- 0:49June 18th and the only game that I've been to is a Nashville
- 0:55Sounds game. I'm right there with you.
- 0:58For which I think I caught like 7 of the 9 Indians.
- 1:02Yeah, I'm right there with you. To be fair, I have.
- 1:06Been to a big game? Have I?
- 1:08Have I gone to this? I haven't gone this year.
- 1:10Yeah, the when you went to Denver.
- 1:13Oh, that's right. I was in.
- 1:15I was thinking, I don't know why I was picturing like, oh, I
- 1:17haven't been to chase this year. I haven't been to chase this
- 1:20year, but I totally forgot. That's right, you suck.
- 1:22I don't you. Suck.
- 1:23Thank you. And you have like way easier
- 1:27access to a lot of places. Dude, it's like right down the
- 1:31road. Well, getting into DC is no easy
- 1:34task, but but what's that? How's that phrase go by the way
- 1:39of the the crow, by the the way the bird, the way the crow
- 1:44flies. Yeah, it's a short, it's a short
- 1:47drive. And I have yet it's just, by the
- 1:54way, the the pigeon. No, no other birds, just crow.
- 1:58By the way, the pigeon rolls, I don't know.
- 2:02That's a spy. Pigeons are spies.
- 2:04We know this. That's.
- 2:05Yeah, that's very true. No, but I've just, I go back to
- 2:09my new, my resolution, my my New Year's resolution.
- 2:13I said I was going to go to more baseball games this year than I
- 2:15ever had in a single. Year, you're off to a rough
- 2:17start. That's a great start.
- 2:20What a joke. And I suck.
- 2:25Yeah, you know what else sucks? Adulting.
- 2:32The yeah, frozen pizza. Nah, frozen pizza is OK.
- 2:37Frozen pizzas in in the right context.
- 2:40Now. What sucks is the continued
- 2:44fallout of this Raphael Dever situation.
- 2:50I, I didn't anticipate it being wrapped up anytime soon.
- 2:53Like I didn't think it was going to be like, oh, he's traded,
- 2:55he's in San Francisco now. That's all that there is to the
- 2:57story. But to be fair, the last time we
- 3:00recorded it happened like an hour before we we talked about
- 3:05it. So we didn't have really a
- 3:07chance for things to, to really pan out for there to be any, any
- 3:11fallout, any, any sort of blowback.
- 3:14But boy, has there been some. Before I get into my thoughts,
- 3:21do you have any initial reactions to sort of what you've
- 3:24heard, what you've seen, what you've read?
- 3:27Yeah, I heard something about I don't, I didn't get to dig into
- 3:32it, so I'm hoping you can shed some light.
- 3:34And I don't know if this is where you want to start, but
- 3:36like I heard something about does John Henry own a soccer
- 3:41team as well? Liverpool.
- 3:43Oh, and they not a not a small football club, that's a big
- 3:47football club. And they just made a, a record
- 3:51size acquisition. I don't know.
- 3:54Don't ask me about soccer. Don't ask me about Liverpool.
- 3:57All I know is it required a a, a pretty penny from Fenway Sports
- 4:01Group and coincidentally just happened the same week that this
- 4:07whole thing with Raphael Devers went that where we're trying to
- 4:09maybe clear up some clear up some money.
- 4:13Is this tinfoil tinfoil hat worthy or is it just like
- 4:19everyone knows this it's kind of out.
- 4:20And it's, it's floating around out there for sure.
- 4:24But it's, it's, it's a matter of if John Henry has bigger, bigger
- 4:28fish to fry, if this is just a a fan conspiracy, or if there's
- 4:33any. It's hard to say.
- 4:35Money is money it it goes in different.
- 4:40Directions. Money, Money.
- 4:42Money, money. It goes in different directions.
- 4:44So that's something. I was just curious.
- 4:46I just saw, I wasn't sure if that was a real thing or not.
- 4:51Hey, Laura. I would say that was
- 4:56interesting. I would say last night Rafi
- 5:02Devers roping a ball in the gap for an RBI double was
- 5:08interesting in the City connects interesting.
- 5:12What do you think is 16, by the way?
- 5:15The number 16, you have nothing. You have no feel for for it.
- 5:21I, I was unaware that, I mean, maybe it's because I'm just not
- 5:25a Giants die hard. I was unaware that 11 was was
- 5:31unavailable for the Giants. Who's rocking that?
- 5:35What I didn't, I didn't look at that, look into that either.
- 5:42Nope, Not Phil Simms. We're talking San Francisco
- 5:45Giants. Is it Mel OTT?
- 5:50No, Mel, I was 4. Carl Hubble.
- 5:54Sure. You know him?
- 5:56You love him. Yeah, that's true.
- 5:58Yeah. You know, I don't know.
- 5:59I mean, it works. Whatever.
- 6:00I mean, giants. Giants got not have bad
- 6:03uniforms. To me, though, the big the big
- 6:07talking points here are are the comments that were made from
- 6:12from both sides. The I mean this this comment
- 6:20that I think made the most noise from Rafi Devers in his opening
- 6:23press conferences that I'm here to play wherever they want me to
- 6:27play. Yeah, that's a little
- 6:30interesting. To which Bob Melvin followed up
- 6:33saying that Rafael Devers would be, I think I read that he was
- 6:38not entertaining the the possibility of him playing third
- 6:41at any point, especially with with whenever Chapman comes
- 6:44back. But he, Bob Melvin said that
- 6:46Devers would play a little bit of DH and a little bit of first
- 6:49base. And I bet you, I bet you he's
- 6:55going to play first base at some point this weekend against the
- 6:57Red Sox. Because he said, he said
- 6:59himself, he said I'm going to take as many ground balls as I
- 7:01can in the next couple days. Yeah, just to be spiteful.
- 7:07I think that's the route you go if you're, if you're feeling, if
- 7:10you're feeling that way, you know.
- 7:13But this is going back to sort of what we talked about last
- 7:16episode. I this is a situation in which
- 7:21adults chose not to be adults. And you know, we we can sit here
- 7:27and look at how OK, well, if some of these things that have
- 7:31come to light in the day since the trade are true and maybe
- 7:35this just truly was a situation where they needed to clear the
- 7:40air and really clear his locker ultimately.
- 7:45OK, But I just like my goodness, man, we talk, as I've said it
- 7:55before, say it again. He's one of the best hitters in
- 7:58baseball. Like is there not just a way
- 8:01that you this isn't just Joe blow on your on your 40 man?
- 8:05Like this is Rafael Devers can and I'm looking at him too,
- 8:09Like, can you can we not come to a resolution here and and just
- 8:16make this work? Like I, I, I meant to tell you,
- 8:19I this evening, I finally, granted, I'm like half a year
- 8:26late at this point. I started the Red Sox
- 8:28documentary, the one that Netflix did.
- 8:31And I'm like a couple episodes in and I'm just sitting here
- 8:33watching Raffi like interact with some of the guys.
- 8:36And I'm like, because we let some sour grapes from the front
- 8:42office get in the way. Like we, no, we no longer have
- 8:44this kind of thing. I don't know, like, and then it
- 8:49we it it comes to light that Raphael Devers was willing to
- 8:53play first base for the Red Sox, but he wanted them to commit to
- 8:57him as their first baseman for the long haul and not just as a
- 9:00short term measure. This whole thing is a mess,
- 9:04dude. And and I don't, I don't know
- 9:07what camp to really set up shop. In that's kind of what I'm
- 9:11sensing. I'm sensing that from you and a
- 9:13lot of Red Sox fans is that like you don't, you don't know, Like
- 9:16you're obviously not thrilled with the club, but you're not
- 9:19willing to just like fully support and defend Rafi Devers,
- 9:23which is fair because like not a not much of what he's what he's
- 9:27done is is worth defending. But now you have like David
- 9:30Ortiz chipping in. Now you have Pedro chipping in,
- 9:33which is like making things a lot worse.
- 9:36The other thing is, is that I'm hearing he wasn't even really
- 9:40thoroughly shopped. Like I heard that no, he didn't
- 9:44really like the the Red Sox didn't look to too many places
- 9:49here. Like this was something that who
- 9:52knows if it was one of the first calls that they received or they
- 9:55made and just pulled trigger just to get it done.
- 9:58Which also seems super irresponsible on that end
- 10:05because I do feel like they got fleece and I do feel like there
- 10:10were probably teams willing to to offer more.
- 10:13Yeah, Craig Breslow said that the math, this came from his
- 10:19mouth. He said the math said that this
- 10:22was a good deal. This was the right time to do
- 10:24it. The math.
- 10:29What does that even mean? Like, I'm, I'm sitting here
- 10:33being told by Craig Breslow that like, yeah, I'm a I'm a former
- 10:36player. Like I think like a baseball
- 10:37player. That's how that's how this this
- 10:40series like, opens up. He's he's he's given his
- 10:43introductory talk to the club down at spring training.
- 10:47And he's like, yeah, I I I still think like, like I, I was a
- 10:51player longer than I've been in the front office.
- 10:54And that's going to be the case for at least another 10 years.
- 10:57Well, buddy, you're not going to be here in 10 years.
- 10:59First of all, sorry, but tell me that it's the math that led you
- 11:05to this decision. Like have some feel and I don't,
- 11:08we don't need to rehash the timing of it all, but it's just
- 11:12it's again, going back to the not knowing which camp to be in.
- 11:15It's difficult for me because, you know, I, I love Raffi.
- 11:18He wasn't, I didn't have I, I still don't really have a
- 11:21favorite player on this team. I mean, I, I didn't not like
- 11:25Raffi. He he rubbed me the wrong way
- 11:27sometimes, especially with with all this drama since spring
- 11:30training. That's how a place to be, by the
- 11:33way, not having a favorite player on your favorite team,
- 11:36yeah, it's not a comfortable place.
- 11:37I think, I think Duran has has sort of slotted into that role.
- 11:41Hammer story had. I just like the way they go
- 11:44about it. But no, the the thing I was
- 11:47going to say though is on the flip side, I do respect and I
- 11:54know I've I've taken my shots at Craig Breslow.
- 11:58However, if if there were issues caused by Rafael Devers that
- 12:07that would have prevented this team from moving forward and and
- 12:12being a singular units moving forward.
- 12:16I understand. And I know you're saying well,
- 12:18like figure out a way you in one in in one breath you're saying
- 12:21we'll figure out a way to fix it and then the other say get rid
- 12:23of it. It's not what I'm saying.
- 12:26We won't truly fully know the entire story.
- 12:32All I'm saying is if Rafael Devers had a, had a, a role to
- 12:39own in this, OK, you know what? It sucks, but we're we're going
- 12:44to have to move on. However, like I said, the Red
- 12:47Sox do have a history of, of kicking you, kicking you on the
- 12:50way out the door when they when they, when they do show you the
- 12:53door. So again, I'm I'm sort of in the
- 12:56middle here. I don't really know which way to
- 12:58go with it. But at the end of the day, he's
- 13:00gone as if you're the Red Sox. You kind of have to move on.
- 13:04It seems like Alex Gora has gotten to a point with
- 13:08responding to inquiries about this whole deal that he's he's
- 13:15just taking it at face value, like, you know, it is what it
- 13:17is. Almost.
- 13:18Almost in a cold. In a cold way.
- 13:20I wanted to ask you about that too, because like, how much are
- 13:23are we, can we put some blame in Cora's camp for kind of losing
- 13:32control of this situation a little bit?
- 13:34Like I know it's not fully on him.
- 13:38Like Ralph, he's. A grown man, but I don't think
- 13:41he knew that this was happening. I, I, I genuinely don't think he
- 13:47knew this was happening. Because if you're Alex, like if
- 13:49you're Alex Cora, and you catch even the slightest wind that
- 13:54your best hitter is being shipped across the country, you
- 14:00don't think that you're going to you're going to make a a little
- 14:04bit of a noise or you're at least going to make an effort to
- 14:08bring it to a halt. But if John Henry, who has the
- 14:11ultimate say when it comes to money in these contracts, if he
- 14:15says no, I want to lighten my my checkbook and make my pockets a
- 14:19little heavier, then this is what has to be done, Craig.
- 14:24So go ahead and take care of business.
- 14:26So Craig's left with no other option but then to, as the great
- 14:31philosopher Lil Wayne said, move in silence like lasagna.
- 14:38So that's that's where we're at. And so I don't think Alex Gore
- 14:42had any any true knowledge of what what was really happening
- 14:45here. I don't know.
- 14:52Yeah, I expel. I don't, I mean, I don't, I
- 14:54don't, I don't want to beat a dead horse here because
- 14:58obviously it's like, what's the point of, of talking about
- 15:02something that's, you know, ties have already been cut, but like.
- 15:07No, it's it's just the aftermath of it where it's this is this is
- 15:10classic. It's not even just baseball.
- 15:13It's a sports thing. Like you, you're going to have
- 15:14the fallout where both sides are trying to craft a narrative.
- 15:17You're trying to do damage control.
- 15:20And you know, some of the things that are coming about coming out
- 15:23about Rafael Devers in that damning Yahoo Sports article
- 15:28that were I mean, just on on both sides it there was just
- 15:34acknowledging the fact that the Red Sox are organizationally are
- 15:37a mess right now, which. Do you agree?
- 15:41For sure. OK.
- 15:43The power struggle is how you would describe it with Alex
- 15:47Gore, Craig Breslow, John Henry, like nobody really knows what's
- 15:50going on. Nobody knows who wants what at
- 15:52the end of the day. But then you you find out that
- 15:55or it was reported rather, that Devers was upset when Christian
- 16:00Campbell volunteered to play first base.
- 16:02I saw that. I saw that which is.
- 16:06Dude, I don't know. All I know is at the end of the
- 16:09day, I I go back to what I said at some point last episode in
- 16:13that I'm I'm you know, it's going to be laundry over player
- 16:17every time and. Yeah, unfortunately, it's, it's
- 16:21how our it's how our sicko brains operate.
- 16:25Before we move on, you sent me a little a little snippet of an
- 16:30article referring to something that you and I talk about
- 16:33regularly on this podcast, which is a lack of fundamentals being
- 16:36taught at in the in the, you know, lower system.
- 16:41I'm not just pointing at the Red Sox and saying this, but like,
- 16:47you can speak to that a little bit, right?
- 16:49Like you've seen it a little bit.
- 16:50They're not they're struggling defensively this year.
- 16:53Like that's kind of a thing. They're the worst offensive team
- 16:56in baseball. I, I, I think it's, I think it's
- 16:58just a really, really perfect unfortunate cocktail of a lot of
- 17:05things mixing up. And I'm not going to say I'm
- 17:08fully out because like a lot of people had this team winning the
- 17:12division this year and they're in a playoff spot currently.
- 17:17But I genuinely can't imagine with all of these things
- 17:22happening, I can't imagine a successful year this year.
- 17:30My only hope as a fan of this team is that, and you know, if
- 17:37you're a fan of any team, you hope for this whenever there's
- 17:39conflicts, whenever, whenever an issue arises internally,
- 17:43externally, whatever it may be, you just hope that the team is
- 17:45capable of rallying together and, and in this case, ignoring
- 17:56the front office. But you don't really have our
- 17:59best intentions in mind. Like you're, you're here
- 18:02protecting each other's interests.
- 18:04You're each and you're here that.
- 18:05Brings up another point, man trying to protect.
- 18:07Each other's checkbooks? Check.
- 18:09Protect each other's jobs. How likely are they are?
- 18:12Are some of these guys to be willing to sign an extension?
- 18:20Like if that's what you're seeing, like I no, you're not
- 18:24going to be an idiot. If I'm, if I'm in the position
- 18:26of Roman Anthony, I'm not, I'm not going to be an idiot and say
- 18:28like, I'm going to turn down money.
- 18:29But like if I'm looking at a situation and saying, OK,
- 18:33realistically, am I on the trajectory of a Mookie Betts or
- 18:37Rafi Devers or a Xander Bogarts? Because like, if I'm of that
- 18:41caliber and I'm succeeding and I'm hearing all the things I
- 18:45want to hear, like at some point there's going to be something in
- 18:48the back of my mind that's like, well, if it happened to those
- 18:50guys, it could happen to me too. It's interesting, man.
- 18:54And I'm just wondering like, how long that stink, that stench of
- 19:00mismanagement sticks around and money talks.
- 19:04Not going to sit here and say that no one's going to be
- 19:07willing to sign an extension there because of those examples.
- 19:09But like, you're also not just having this conversation alone
- 19:15with these organizations. Agencies know this.
- 19:19Agencies have seen this. The proof is in the pudding of
- 19:21how guys have been treated in the past.
- 19:23And that conversation, you better believe if that agent
- 19:26knows what he's doing is going to be brought up.
- 19:31I think it's weird. I think it's a very strange
- 19:34scenario going on. And I think there's a very large
- 19:37ripple effect from this. And it overall, like my stance
- 19:41is shame on the Red Sox front office, shame on Craig Breslow.
- 19:46And and if it did in fact come to an emotional dispute, which
- 19:54let's be honest, that's what it was, it's feelings getting hurt.
- 19:59If that's what it comes down to and you move a cornerstone piece
- 20:04prematurely without fully vetting other options and
- 20:09maximizing the return full full shame on you.
- 20:18You know the saying, Kyle, don't fart in my face and tell me it
- 20:21smells good, baby, you can't. Been a whole lot of that the
- 20:26last four years. That's right.
- 20:28You've been farted in the face a lot, just lied to.
- 20:36Speaking of lies, Speaking of lies, Nate, is it a lie that the
- 20:40Dodgers and Padres have the best rivalry in baseball right now?
- 20:43Not a lie. Because I was told that it was
- 20:46I, I, I in fact, in fact, I was told that it's not even a
- 20:51rivalry at all. Which, oh, we were told the.
- 20:56Giants are the one that. Correct.
- 20:58No, I'm well, sure. Max Muncie and and others I'm
- 21:01sure. But I'm talking about people in
- 21:03the mentions telling me that it is in fact not even a rivalry at
- 21:07all. Forget like second tier or or
- 21:11even top tier rivalry. It's not a rivalry at all.
- 21:14Which to me, if I know how the average fan operates, that tells
- 21:19me that it is a rivalry and that there's some insecurities there.
- 21:23Because if you were so bothered by this team, you wouldn't be
- 21:26trying to get out in front of this narrative saying oh it's
- 21:29not a it's not a rivalry at all. Our we're not bothered at all by
- 21:33them. Classic rent free mindset.
- 21:37Yeah, I concur. I concur.
- 21:41Rookie sounds upset. He's he's pissed.
- 21:45About we heard about we heard about the Devers.
- 21:47So I, I told him I'm like, buddy, this is really the last
- 21:50day we can, we can really dwell on this, but here we are.
- 21:55Yeah, it's fair. It's understandable.
- 21:59I don't know, man. I mean, look, it's it's must
- 22:02watch TV every time they match up.
- 22:05And I know I know Shohei first time on the bump.
- 22:08It was only for an inning and it didn't look great.
- 22:11Didn't look awful, but didn't look great.
- 22:13But that matchup was cease like ignore the box score, ignore the
- 22:19result. Like overall, everyone wanted to
- 22:21tune into that game if he could. Like that's a game that you want
- 22:24to watch and it's fireworks every time they play.
- 22:28And it doesn't have to be solely driven on every.
- 22:31I I don't think it needs to be solely about regular season
- 22:36games, but like if they're matching up been postseason
- 22:40matchups the way and especially like last year, that was
- 22:44electric. It's been electric.
- 22:47I can't imagine a better matchup right now.
- 22:53And like you and I talked about like maybe the Sox and Yanks are
- 22:58like starting to come back, but it's it's goes dormant for a
- 23:03while. If one of those teams has a
- 23:06rough stretch, which they're both currently in, in a little
- 23:09bit of a rough stretch, it's not super exciting.
- 23:15Then you have attitude on the Padres you don't necessarily
- 23:21have and that other match, like what are they saying?
- 23:24Are they still saying Red Sox, Yankees?
- 23:26Are they like what are the rivalries?
- 23:28close? No, it I think it's Dodgers fans
- 23:31jumping out and in in front of this saying it's still the
- 23:35Giants. And I'm just like, first of all,
- 23:40like I'm just trying to well, no disrespect, but I'm just trying
- 23:44to make sense of like why you're so adamant on on saying that it
- 23:51on making this Giants Dodgers thing a rivalry when in in
- 23:55reality, 9 out of 10 non Dodger, non, we'll just call it non NL
- 24:00West baseball fans can look at this at from an from an outside
- 24:04point of view. Granted, we're not in the thick
- 24:06of it like you guys are, but we can look at, we can watch a
- 24:10baseball game uninvested and be like, Oh yeah, hands down these
- 24:14two teams, these two teams paid each other right now.
- 24:18And I'm not saying that's not the case with the Dodgers and
- 24:20Giants, but like as we've talked about with the Red Sox and
- 24:23Yankees, robberies can ebb and flow.
- 24:25And right now, the post I put out today, I said currently, is
- 24:29this the best rivalry in baseball, which I believe it is.
- 24:32But I had people tell me it was Dodgers and Giants.
- 24:34I said you had. You had people playing for the
- 24:39Dodgers last October say that that was the toughest match up
- 24:44that they had. I would put.
- 24:46Here's my order. I would put Dodgers, Padres won.
- 24:51I'd probably put like, I'd put like the NL E over Dodgers
- 24:59Giants. That's what you know what I'm
- 25:00saying. Like I'd put like Phillies,
- 25:01Braves or like Phillies Mets or Braves, Mets or one of those
- 25:04matchups over Dodgers, Giants. Bro, I had somebody Hold on.
- 25:09Let's. Not get too much of the recency
- 25:11bias because let's be real, the Giants haven't really been
- 25:14relevant until this year. I had somebody that I had
- 25:20somebody in the compensated Rangers, Seattle as a close
- 25:23second like. I don't know what planet are we
- 25:27on? I.
- 25:28I don't know, man. I I truly have no idea.
- 25:32Anyway, yeah, the the hit by pitch it was well, you had Andy
- 25:39Pius believe that he was intentionally hit Monday and
- 25:43then you had Mike Shield coming out and saying like, who do you
- 25:45think you are? And then Manny Machado had the
- 25:48comment about we wouldn't hit him.
- 25:51We've got they've got other big dogs to hit.
- 25:53And then Andy Pahas comes out the next, I think it was the
- 25:55next night, last night AS2 bombs.
- 26:01But they what was interesting though, or not even interesting.
- 26:04It was just funny. Was the the Otani hit by pitch
- 26:11brought like the fan. You can just tell the fans are
- 26:13losing it. Yeah.
- 26:16In the stands. And meanwhile, you've got Shohei
- 26:18down. At first, she's laughing up a
- 26:20storm. Yeah, talking it up with Louise
- 26:23Rice. And I'm like this guy, this guy
- 26:25is so above just, he is a rivalry, bad blood.
- 26:30He doesn't care. He's just like, man, I'm just
- 26:31happy to be here. Yeah, it's as I I want to
- 26:36dislike him. I'd like to dislike him, No.
- 26:39You don't. Why would you want to?
- 26:41No. Why would you want to?
- 26:42Dislike him because everyone's on his jock and that annoys me.
- 26:48And then I look at him and I watch him play and I'm just
- 26:50like, Dang it. That's not.
- 26:53Just so likable. Whatever.
- 27:03What did you Eileen Padres, by the way?
- 27:05Any time I watch those matchups, I always have.
- 27:09I did, but and anyone that was saying it's kind of the one on
- 27:13series last year, No, it was before that.
- 27:16Hey, you said it. I mean, I don't know.
- 27:19I don't know you. Leaned of leaned Padres in that
- 27:23matchup for a while. You took that stance pretty
- 27:25hard. Has anybody actually said this
- 27:28or you just shown your true colors here?
- 27:30Like, are you actually a little upset with the way last year
- 27:32went? Yes, but that has nothing to do
- 27:35with this, has it? Kind of sounds like.
- 27:38A. Has it caused it to grow?
- 27:40Sure. Has the reasoning gone up since
- 27:44then? Sure.
- 27:47I mean, let's be honest, everybody loves a good underdog
- 27:49story. And in in this in this match up,
- 27:53they are as you know what, I'll give Dodgers fans credit, always
- 27:58talking about how the Padres, the little brother, they are the
- 28:00little brother. I don't think it would who?
- 28:02Well, maybe outside the Padres fans, nobody's denying that.
- 28:04Nobody's denying that the Padres, the little brother
- 28:08Dodgers, obviously have the track record.
- 28:10Yeah. But to say that this is not the
- 28:15the best rivalry in baseball going right now is insane crazy.
- 28:24Let's talk about the hey, no, you know what this let's.
- 28:28Is it time? This deserves, no, this
- 28:30deserves. Let's see, what do I want to hit
- 28:34it with? Let's just go classic.
- 28:53Oh, we're not allowed to play that anymore, Head.
- 28:55Sorry, Murray. Shout out, shout out the New
- 29:02York Yankees for. Scraping across a couple runs
- 29:09for. Scoring a run.
- 29:12I'm not talking a couple, just a run.
- 29:13That's, that's all. We as baseball fans, you know,
- 29:16we just, we're like, come on, just just one.
- 29:21How about how about tonight? No.
- 29:24How? OK, Well, how about tomorrow
- 29:25night? No.
- 29:26How about the next night? No.
- 29:29No 30. What, what did it, what it was
- 29:34it? Final tally, 31 in a third
- 29:37inning, scoreless. Nate, what's going on, man?
- 29:41They were shut out three straight nights.
- 29:44I would say now I'll I'll be nice three straight shutouts.
- 29:55The first time they've been shut out three straight games since
- 29:582016. Where are we at with the game
- 30:01tonight? They're currently riding A5 game
- 30:03losing streak. They're down one in the bottom
- 30:07of the eighth Oh so this will be fun.
- 30:08We get to look at the. Catch the end of this?
- 30:10Explain to you how things are going right now.
- 30:12It's first and second. No outs.
- 30:16Trent Grisham up, squares around a bunt foul, ends up being in a
- 30:2421 count, decides to swing away and pops it up to the catcher.
- 30:32So that's where this team is at at the moment.
- 30:35And I don't I, I feel like all the things that were supposed to
- 30:40be solved have started to rear its ugly head again.
- 30:45We saw a miserable base running examples in the Red Sox series.
- 30:50Seen it again. We're trying to avoid a sweep of
- 30:53the Los Angeles Angels. That's where we're at at the
- 30:57moment. It's crazy.
- 31:01I don't, I don't know. No one did.
- 31:05Boone is just like, oh, it just happens, No?
- 31:10Coming into the day, the offense during the stretch of or during
- 31:15the span rather of those 29 Indians coming into today, they
- 31:19were slashing 17229 and 2:10. They had just 17 hits.
- 31:26They had struck out 32 times to a measly eight walks.
- 31:32Five runs in six games. Five runs in six games.
- 31:37I think the Red Sox broke the Yankees.
- 31:40I. Think so too.
- 31:43Like the Red Sox broke themselves right, but also broke
- 31:47the angry. Well, that's the that's the
- 31:50thing about like all credit the Red Sox, they play the Yankees
- 31:56so well because they like, they scout them so well.
- 31:59Like they just, they know, like, they know that like, we can
- 32:02steal bases against you, we can take extra bases against you and
- 32:07we can force the issue on you defensively and it's typically
- 32:09going to make you look bad. And I was kind of like shook
- 32:16with how they just went right, a judge and like, didn't care.
- 32:22But it was like, we're just going to come right out.
- 32:25And it worked. And I think he was shocked.
- 32:28I think everyone was shocked. He pressed Anthony Volbeak.
- 32:31I'm done with Anthony. I'm out.
- 32:33I'm fully, fully out. I don't care what he does the
- 32:35rest of the year. I'm out.
- 32:36I'm done. It's miserable to watch.
- 32:39He sucks at short. He's always sucked at short.
- 32:42And the Gold Glove is a fluke. He's miserable with routine
- 32:46ground balls. I'm I'm out.
- 32:52Do I have your permission to clip that just as a stand alone?
- 32:55Save it, I'm out. I'm ready for our guy George
- 32:59Lombard to come up who looks like an actual shortstop and
- 33:03doesn't put his knee down when he gets regular ground balls hit
- 33:06to him. Judge over 4 on the night.
- 33:10You hate to see it long term though.
- 33:16Long term though, looking at looking at the entirety of the
- 33:20American League, how how do you how do you describe the Yankees
- 33:31chances? We'll just call it.
- 33:36How do you think they would do in the post season right now in
- 33:41the at least through the lens of the American League?
- 33:44Because we know what the Tigers are doing.
- 33:46They're as real as it gets. I think right now I, I don't
- 33:49think it's a surprise to anybody, even the people like me
- 33:52and possibly you that had the Royals.
- 33:55No, you didn't have the Royals. Did you have the Tigers,
- 33:58Guardians, even people like us that didn't have the Tigers
- 34:01coming out of the out of the division?
- 34:05I still think we can't be. We can't be surprised.
- 34:07Maybe we underestimated them, sure, but I don't think we can
- 34:10be surprised at what they're doing.
- 34:12How do you How do you think the Yankees stack?
- 34:15Up in 1/2 game lead. That's what I'm saying.
- 34:18How do you think the Yankees stack up in this mix?
- 34:20Because I think at the start of the season, the conversation was
- 34:23like, OK, the Tigers, the Yankees, the Rangers, the Red
- 34:28Sox were another team sort of pegged to come out of the out of
- 34:32the mix or out of the out of the the dust, if you will, when it
- 34:36was all said and done. I I mean, how complete or
- 34:43incomplete do you think the Yankees are right now?
- 34:50Because the Tigers right now going back to the Tigers,
- 34:52they're doing it on both sides of the ball.
- 34:54Like they're top, I think they're top five in team ERA,
- 34:57they're top five in team OPS, doing it on both sides of the
- 35:00ball. But with the Yankees
- 35:01specifically, how do you think they, how do you think they
- 35:03stack up? Could the I don't think they're
- 35:07better in the Tigers. I mean I.
- 35:09Think, could they go on a run? Yeah, that's currently
- 35:13constructed. Yeah, I think so.
- 35:14But like that when fully healthy, like Luke Weaver's back
- 35:19closer roll is like shirt up kind of thing standing now back
- 35:24like that conversation. Yeah, I think I think they're I
- 35:30think they could go on a run. I think I don't think they're
- 35:32bad. I do still think they're a more
- 35:34complete team than they were last year.
- 35:36And we saw that team go on a run whether they deserve to be in
- 35:41that position or not as a different conversation.
- 35:45I it depends on a deadline, man. And I'd like, I don't want to
- 35:50put it all on that, but like the Tigers need a little rotational
- 35:55help. And I do think that is up for
- 35:57grabs at the deadline. I don't see a ton of other
- 36:02things they need. I think it's just rotation depth
- 36:07to be able to get through the postseason.
- 36:08That's kind of how I look at the Tigers.
- 36:10Outside of that, you're good. The Yankees need rotational
- 36:15depth, they need a second or third baseman, they need
- 36:20right-handed pop. They need at least one arm in
- 36:25the bullpen, if not 2. So like that's a lot of that's a
- 36:28lot of deadline stuff. And I don't know, I don't know
- 36:35if I don't know if they can plug every hole.
- 36:39So I think they're fine. Obviously this stretch sucks and
- 36:45every team has it at some point. It's just it's giving me it's
- 36:51giving me vibes that it's given the past few years, we're like
- 36:53the lows are very, very low and the Tigers don't seem that way.
- 36:59And I would I would even argue that Houston doesn't even really
- 37:02fully seem that way. Who, by the way, the Mariners
- 37:08are just absolutely coughed it up again, and we're not really
- 37:11talking about that enough. Just fully handed that over.
- 37:18What? What is the AL?
- 37:23What is it? It's a mess.
- 37:25It's gross. You know what else is a mess,
- 37:28Nate? Is this credit cannon situation?
- 37:30I think it's. Time we addressed.
- 37:32It last episode I was intending to release a statement because
- 37:39it was brought to my attention that maybe there were some
- 37:44illegitimacy regarding the Ballistics, the weaponry being
- 37:51used in said credit Canon. Yeah, you can be there.
- 37:54You can hear the hammer being drawn back on a.
- 37:57Right, which my response in the DMS was that I simply I I picked
- 38:06the 1st result when I typed in Canon sound and didn't think
- 38:12twice about it. Sure.
- 38:16And I've had multiple people bring this to my attention.
- 38:20That is not, in fact, a Canon. So I have prepared a statement
- 38:24for which I will read to you and to the public.
- 38:30Visa V. Visa V.
- 38:36Here's my statement. It has come to my attention that
- 38:43the sound effect used during the credit Canon segment may not in
- 38:48fact, be an actual Canon, some have suggested.
- 38:54Excuse me, Sir, in the gallery. Silence, please.
- 38:58We're going to start over. It has come to my attention that
- 39:01the sound effect used during the credit Canon segment may not in
- 39:05fact be an actual Canon. Some have suggested, with what I
- 39:10can only describe as unnerving confidence, that the audio more
- 39:14closely resembles a bolt action rifle.
- 39:18While I am not a licensed Ballistics expert, more
- 39:21particularly well versed in 18th century artillery acoustics, I
- 39:26do acknowledge the possibility that the current sound lacks the
- 39:29explosive grandeur traditionally associated with cannon fire.
- 39:35Grandeur. I'm actively monitoring this
- 39:38situation. Should enough listeners and or
- 39:41viewers voice their concern organically, publicly, and in a
- 39:45manner that suggests this actually matters, I may consider
- 39:49transitioning to a more sonically appropriate blast in a
- 39:52future episode, perhaps even as soon as next week.
- 39:59Until then, the Credit Cannon remains an active service.
- 40:04Technical classification pending.
- 40:06There will be no questions. Are there any questions?
- 40:15How much of ChatGPT wrote that for you?
- 40:22There will be no questions. Yeah, it offends me that that
- 40:29was your first. That was your first comment to
- 40:31everything that I just read off. Yeah.
- 40:38So we're just going to ride it out, is what you're saying until
- 40:41then. Until, I mean, I've had people,
- 40:44I mean, we've talked about it. People are complaining about
- 40:46the, the sound being too loud, the the weapon being used in the
- 40:51sound. Like I just said, the people are
- 40:53talking about how they've, they've almost died driving off
- 40:59the road, how it wakes their spouse up.
- 41:02Look, I don't know what you want me to do.
- 41:06Do you just want me to disband the segment all together?
- 41:09Yeah, I need you to be better. You just want us to get rid of
- 41:12the the credit cannon all together, because I can do that
- 41:14you. Need a whole week to find a new
- 41:16sound? Well, we do these, which is
- 41:19something else that I think it took people way too long to pick
- 41:22up on. We only do these on like the
- 41:24Wednesday, the weekday, the weekday episode, not the not the
- 41:27sun, not the weekend, not the first of the week episode.
- 41:30Yeah. So it would have to wait till
- 41:31next week if my math serves me correct, assuming that I'm not
- 41:36changing it tonight. So just to clarify, you wrote
- 41:43that statement, not ChatGPT, and instead of using that time to
- 41:48find a new Canon sound, you wrote that, not ChatGPT.
- 41:54No, because I like the sound and I'm going to need enough, I'm
- 41:57going to need enough of an of an uproar from these people to
- 42:01actually justify a change in the sound.
- 42:03Otherwise they can stick. They can just deal with the bolt
- 42:06action rifle credit cannon. You're going to say something
- 42:08else. You're going to.
- 42:09You say stick what? Whatever.
- 42:14That's my statement. There will be no questions.
- 42:18Are there any questions? No, it's time.
- 42:23It's time for the credit cannon. Ellie De La Cruz over the last
- 42:46seven days coming into today hitting 429 with 9 hits, 4
- 42:51homers, 7 RBIs and an OPS of 1548 in five games.
- 43:00Over again the last seven days. Murray's getting fired come into
- 43:05well, Murray needs headphones coming into today or as of the
- 43:1116th LA De La Cruz. This is credit to Red's muse on
- 43:16Twitter. Leads all of NL shortstops.
- 43:21Minimum of 30 games in Homer's RB is runs, games, total bases,
- 43:29extra base hits, stolen bases, slugging, NOPS.
- 43:38That's pretty good. That is pretty good.
- 43:43That's good. Credit Canyon.
- 43:46It's worthy. The Reds, on the other hand, not
- 43:50so much. No.
- 43:51And by the way, you had thrown out see, and this is another
- 43:56point to the credit candidate where I think people just
- 43:59question my integrity with this segment.
- 44:01They think I'd just like throw anybody in there if they bring
- 44:03it up. No, like there's a, there's a
- 44:04true, there's a vetting process that takes place.
- 44:07I don't just, if you just hit me up like, hey, I think this guy
- 44:09belongs in there. I'm just not going to
- 44:11automatically put him in. You had mentioned Jeremy Pena,
- 44:14Nate, there was a list, there was a list longer than probably
- 44:2150 worthy names ahead of Jeremy Pena, unfortunately.
- 44:28So I'm not entirely sure. What stretch are you looking at
- 44:31like the previous week? Are you looking at the previous
- 44:34month? Because there was a handful of
- 44:38other deserving names that I did, unfortunately didn't make
- 44:41the cut tonight. You don't need to out me like
- 44:44that. Well, you know, you're throwing
- 44:48out accusate wild accusations about ChatGPT and my my
- 44:53statement are some accusations, correct?
- 44:58Well, we're just trying to keep it transparent here.
- 45:02So I just wanted to bring that to your attention and and let
- 45:07you know that I did entertain. I, I, I I considered it was it
- 45:11was brought into consideration. I was just bringing up Jerry
- 45:13payment Jeremy Pena because he has a the third best war in
- 45:18baseball. So I figured that might have
- 45:22that's that might have brought that.
- 45:24Can't be true. That's what are you looking at.
- 45:29He's just behind Pete Crowe, Armstrong and Judge, and above
- 45:36Paul Skeens. Hold the phones.
- 45:41What are we talking about? Hold on pumps.
- 45:47That's what I was looking at. What?
- 45:56Yeah. Jeremy.
- 46:06I feel like you owe me an apology.
- 46:07That hey, that's that's, you know what?
- 46:14Is that your apology? Jeremy Payne.
- 46:17Yeah, Jeremy Payne, you with the last a last minute addition to
- 46:20the Credit Canon segment today purely for his shocking 3rd
- 46:28place position on the world leaders.
- 46:32Chart. Yeah, good.
- 46:35Third. How's it feel?
- 46:37Good for Jeremy Pena. It doesn't feel good.
- 46:41Good doesn't feel good. That's.
- 46:43What I want to hear. Next up.
- 46:53Trey Turner over the last week coming into today, hitting 4/17
- 47:07with two homers, 4 ribbies and an OPS at 12:31.
- 47:14Trey Turner National League ranks amongst National League
- 47:18ranks among shortstops coming into today.
- 47:22First in hits, first in average, first in on base, second in OPS,
- 47:27tied for second in Double S, tied for first in triples and
- 47:312nd no, second in swipes and 2nd in runs scored.
- 47:35Nice Trey. Trey Turner.
- 47:43Nice. By the way, that's a guy for
- 47:45some reason, and I think I've seen more commentary, more
- 47:48dialogue back and forth on whether or not his contract is
- 47:53the worst in the history of baseball or if he's worth every
- 47:57penny. Because I've seen strong
- 47:59arguments for both. And I think Phillies fans are
- 48:01just fickle when it comes to Trey Turner because I think the
- 48:05narrative switches everyday. But I'm a Trey Turner truther
- 48:13and will always be a Trey Turner truther.
- 48:15Yeah, I like Trey Turner. I like Trey Turner, I like him
- 48:19in Philly. I like to fit.
- 48:21I've always liked to fit. I like him in AUSA uniform as
- 48:25well. Never forget.
- 48:27So I don't get it. I mean, just be nice if you are
- 48:35angry. I don't know, I just yelled at
- 48:40Anthony Volpe, so whatever, what do I do?
- 48:44Hunter Goodman. A rocky over the hey, you know
- 48:50what this is a good moment to give Hunter Goodman his flowers
- 48:55because while I still maintain that we need to do away with
- 49:00every team needs to be represented thing for strictly
- 49:05the the purposes of what we've seen in the last two years with
- 49:08the White Sox and Rockies. You do have a guy that's that's
- 49:12certainly worthy, although is not going to start being All
- 49:18Star game because I don't know if you've seen Will Smith, I
- 49:20think. Let me check.
- 49:22Will Smith is, yeah. Bro Will Smith has the second
- 49:27highest as of yesterday, had the second highest margin over the
- 49:322nd place player behind him at his position, Aaron Judge.
- 49:37Aaron Judge's margin yesterday was 893,000.
- 49:41Will Smith was 716,000. Yeah, it's good.
- 49:47Solid. A larger margin than Cal
- 49:49Raleigh, I might add. Yeah.
- 49:51Who's right behind him at 672 I. Mean one can argue Will Smith is
- 50:02better this year. But Cal Raleigh, a larger margin
- 50:08than Cal Raleigh, that speaks more to the no.
- 50:11That speaks more to the popularity contest that is All
- 50:14Star voting. I digress.
- 50:16Hunter Volpee just struck out to complete the back-to-back
- 50:19sweeps, but. Hunter Goodman hitting over the
- 50:23last two weeks hitting 333, five homers, 12 ribbies and an OPS of
- 50:291123 coming into the day. Hunter Goodman in the month of
- 50:34June coming into today, Leeds Baseball with 7 homers, 15
- 50:38ribbies and a 356 average. Credit to Hunter Goodman.
- 50:46Cal O'Reilly has 27 home runs. I I looked it up today, him and
- 50:52Aaron Judge. Here's a little here's a little
- 50:54nugget for you. Him and Aaron Judge have more
- 50:59home runs combined then. All of one team the.
- 51:07Royals franchise, the Royals lineup and the Pirates lineup,
- 51:14which, you know, Pirates, whatever, but the Royals.
- 51:17It's embarrassing. Those two guys alone, more home
- 51:21runs than your entire team. Royals, we got to do better.
- 51:25Jack had little. We got to do better too, man.
- 51:27Like, I know you, I know you just got here, but like, just a
- 51:30little, just a little something. Where are we at here on the
- 51:35critical Canon? Next up, shots fired.
- 51:48Shots fired. Ryan Peppio, 2 and one with an
- 51:52ERA of 162 with 37 strikeouts over his last five starts.
- 52:01His last start against the Orioles he went 8 innings,
- 52:04allowed just four hits, gave up one, and run 11 KS to two walks.
- 52:10On the year he's sporting a 311 with a WHIP of 110, four and
- 52:16six. O so not great there, but.
- 52:18Who cares in the glass now? Trade.
- 52:22He was. I'm glad you brought that up,
- 52:23Nate. I've got a tweet from Adam the
- 52:25sports fan that I wanted to reference since the trade for
- 52:29Tyler Glass, now Manuel Margo in exchange for Ryan Peppio and
- 52:35Johnny DeLuca. Tyler Glass now has a 361 in 152
- 52:41innings. Ryan Pepio, A34-O in 219
- 52:45innings. Just this is what the Rays do,
- 52:48bro. They know.
- 52:50They know more than us. They know more than everyone.
- 52:59The Rays are better than all of us.
- 53:05We owe our lives to the Rays. Yeah.
- 53:11Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think. They're hitting the road soon
- 53:15aren't they? For like 8 weeks.
- 53:19I think so. I think I read in the chat they
- 53:23came. I mean, I've got the game
- 53:24that's. Actually a good point.
- 53:25Not to interrupt you, but Ryan Pepio doing this for majority of
- 53:28games being in that tiny ballpark is crazy.
- 53:34What? Like the Rays being at at
- 53:37Steinbrenner Field for Oh, you're just this this year,
- 53:40Yeah. Like since the trade?
- 53:42I know like this year, like having these numbers this year,
- 53:46all while doing it in that ballpark is that's that's
- 53:49impressive bro, sure. Now you're good.
- 53:55No I what I was saying is I think I saw it in the chat that
- 53:58the with the OS up 8 nothing, the olds were up 8 nothing and
- 54:04currently. Coughed it up.
- 54:05Yeah, the. Rays, Orioles.
- 54:08I can't. I can't with this team anymore,
- 54:10man. I can't.
- 54:11The worst, The worst. You know who's not the worst?
- 54:15Jameson Tayon 4 and O with an ERA of two O 821 strikeouts over
- 54:22his last four starts dating back to May 26th, has allowed four or
- 54:28fewer hits in six straight starts.
- 54:31Granted, I didn't see did the game today?
- 54:34No. Yeah.
- 54:35Did the game today get postponed?
- 54:39Yeah. The Cubs game, Yeah.
- 54:45Confirmed. Yeah, he was supposed to start
- 54:47today. So everything still all this
- 54:49still holds up. 4 fewer hits in six straight starts on the year.
- 54:53He's pitching to a a a nice 348 with a WHIP of .98.
- 55:01He's he's, he's racking up the strikeouts, granted at a
- 55:05somewhat of an alternating rate going back to May 14th.
- 55:09Granted, going back to May 14th, he's thrown six or more Indians
- 55:12every every time out, so that's encouraging.
- 55:15But his strikeout log, starting with that May 14th outing, he's
- 55:19gone in order to to date 727257. So from a fantasy perspective,
- 55:32maybe you just pick them up every other start.
- 55:34I don't, I don't know, whatever. If you're looking for
- 55:37strikeouts. And now it's 8 to 12 in in
- 55:43George Steinbrenner Field at George Steinbrenner Field.
- 55:49Worthless. O's.
- 55:52Worthless. Closing the book here, last
- 55:56thing I got. Butt bumps in the dugout right
- 55:58now. Hey, that's just what the Rays
- 56:00do, baby butt bumps and dubs closing the book Nick
- 56:08Castellanos bench the other day for, quote, an inappropriate
- 56:12comment. Yeah.
- 56:15Saw that ending ending a pretty lengthy streak.
- 56:20Yeah, it wasn't like pushing 300 or I can't remember what, what
- 56:23the exact number was, but it was impressive.
- 56:26I mean, not Cal Ripken impressive, but you know, for
- 56:28modern day standards, modern day standards, not bad.
- 56:34But you know what was funny? What's funny about that
- 56:36situation? Nick Castianos makes an
- 56:40inappropriate comment. He gets a day off.
- 56:44If we were to make an inappropriate comment at our
- 56:47place of work, we would be sent to HR.
- 56:53It's an excellent point, probably written up.
- 57:02Just wanted to throw that out there just in case.
- 57:04In case you. Appropriate comment by the way.
- 57:06No Philly, Rob said. He just wanted to leave it at
- 57:10that. Has Philly Rob lost the fanbase,
- 57:15you think? Well, if.
- 57:19It's anything the way it like the way they treat Trey Turner.
- 57:22I think there's going to be a sort of an alternating narrative
- 57:28on a day by day basis where we love this guy, we'll go to the
- 57:34gates of hell for this guy. Yeah, they just Guy should have
- 57:36been gone last year. Quite a bit until it's like post
- 57:40season time, like we've been riding this guy all year, like
- 57:43you know what I mean? That's being a baseball fan.
- 57:46Been in his camp all year. Yeah, it's fair.
- 57:51I also saw, going back to the Cassie thing, I did see a theory
- 57:56proposed that with all of what's going on right now in the Middle
- 58:00East with Iran, that Philly Rod was actually looking out for
- 58:04America and that he didn't want, he didn't want, he didn't want
- 58:09Cassie going deep and. Good point.
- 58:12Only starting World War three. Good point.
- 58:16Good point. Because whenever that day does
- 58:18come, he'll he'll definitely go yeah, yeah.
- 58:22Keep an eye out for any Castellanos home runs like.
- 58:26Immediately check. I mean, that's that's the norm.
- 58:29That is the norm. Now you, you immediately go, you
- 58:32go to the news feed, you see, like who, who passed away?
- 58:36Yeah, what World News has has taken place?
- 58:40That's the norm. But to your point, yeah, now we
- 58:43got to be keep an eye out for World War 3.
- 58:45So yeah, Nick just maybe hit a cold streak for a little while.
- 58:49Huh. Exactly.
- 58:50Thanks. That's all I got.
- 58:52You got anything before we get out of here?
- 58:56Speaking of World War Three, we just finished a new show called
- 59:00Paradise on Hulu. Phenomenal.
- 59:04This man phenomenal. There's only one.
- 59:07Just blows through shows more than any would have ever seen
- 59:11like in. Episodes Guy.
- 59:13How many? 8.
- 59:14That's like 4 movies. Yeah, a couple weeks.
- 59:22And you guys just finished that game show one that you
- 59:25recommended to me. It's ages ago bro, it's a
- 59:27different life. Ago.
- 59:29That's fair. Highly recommend Paradise.
- 59:32Legit like intense intense real good.
- 59:40You're not a Hulu guy, are you? We are very good.
- 59:45I recommend it. I do.
- 59:47It's not what you think like it, like it just takes like an
- 59:51immediate twist at the end of the first episode and you're
- 59:53like, oh, this isn't what I thought it was, but it ends up
- 59:57being real good. You know what I'm saying?
- 59:59Real, real good. So there's that.
- 1:00:02There's that update. Still trying to lock down a
- 1:00:06PlayStation 2 for for the trip. I was made aware that we could
- 1:00:16probably just put PlayStation two games in my PlayStation 4.
- 1:00:21But I don't really love that. I want more nostalgia.
- 1:00:25Correct. Yeah, No, that's so that that
- 1:00:29can't happen. I'm trying to find someone on
- 1:00:32OfferUp that's willing to trade which seems like such a good
- 1:00:35deal. Like, hey, give me your
- 1:00:37PlayStation two, I'll give you my PlayStation 4.
- 1:00:40No, no, no, PlayStation two I would have to imagine is in
- 1:00:44higher demand because PlayStation.
- 1:00:46No PlayStation 4 is in this like weird in between.
- 1:00:48Like PlayStation Two's in place in the PlayStation world is like
- 1:00:52the GOAT. And so you're in this like weird
- 1:00:55in between of like PS-5 and the goat.
- 1:00:58You're just like this middle child.
- 1:01:00You're like this this like red headed stepchild like I don't
- 1:01:02know what. But there's people that like
- 1:01:04don't understand that value because they're on OfferUp and
- 1:01:06they're not smarter. They have like I found someone
- 1:01:10on OfferUp for like 80 bucks for PS2 Slim and I'm like that's
- 1:01:14exactly the size that I want to travel with and I'm like, yo,
- 1:01:20how about I just give you this guy?
- 1:01:22Whatever we have, resell that. For 120 whatever we.
- 1:01:27Have to do to play MVPO 5 in Atlanta at the All Star game
- 1:01:33full World Series. I just, I don't care how it gets
- 1:01:36done. I think this is the only
- 1:01:38advantage that I'm going to be able to have those, you know
- 1:01:41that game so well, but I'm making you switch from Xbox to
- 1:01:45PlayStation. I think that like, it's like a
- 1:01:47handicap for me, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:01:52Sure. I don't know.
- 1:01:53No, no. I need a little handicap.
- 1:01:55We're not. No, we're not baking in excuses.
- 1:01:58Already you are familiar with this game.
- 1:02:01I'm not familiar with this game. That's an MLB Show The Show guy
- 1:02:05since. I also play MLB Show.
- 1:02:08I also play MLB the show. But you haven't had access to
- 1:02:12MLB The Show for a decade. Was like Xbox who?
- 1:02:16You didn't know what that was like.
- 1:02:18You didn't. You didn't live that life.
- 1:02:19I have, I have and it'll be the show.
- 1:02:23What year? Whichever one has Harper and
- 1:02:32then Tatis on it. Yikes bro, that's like 2021.
- 1:02:37OK, so I've been running that since O 6.
- 1:02:42I had Ryan Howard and David Wright and.
- 1:02:45And Vladdy Guerrero, Oh, I'm saying, isn't that covered both.
- 1:02:49I'm versatile. I'm mad I can I can Xbox play a
- 1:02:54little on VPO 5 jump over here, play a little PlayStation play.
- 1:02:57The show I can do both. The equivalent of you running
- 1:03:00MVPO 5 is is the equivalent of you and I, you and I going out
- 1:03:07and golfing. That's absolutely not.
- 1:03:12Yeah, the play time. We should golf while we're out
- 1:03:14there too. That sounds fun.
- 1:03:15We should. Not.
- 1:03:19The team at all, oh, 100%. The play time, the amount of
- 1:03:23hours spent, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm giving you.
- 1:03:28Capable of playing a baseball video game.
- 1:03:32I don't golf. That's not the same.
- 1:03:36I think, I think it is. I think it speaks to the
- 1:03:39experience. I wouldn't mind a handicap.
- 1:03:46To answer the question in the chat, we are absolutely
- 1:03:48streaming. We're going to we're going to do
- 1:03:49it up big. We're going to do it right.
- 1:03:51You have my word, we're going to stream.
- 1:03:53We're we're doing a full blown World Series.
- 1:03:56How we how we do teams has yet to be determined, but we can
- 1:03:59talk about that. But like it's going to be it's
- 1:04:01going to be big. We're going full blown World
- 1:04:04Series. We're going to have to figure
- 1:04:06out how we're going to map the schedule of the World Series
- 1:04:09out, given that we're only there.
- 1:04:10For Saturday night, I hope you are up for some late ones by the
- 1:04:16way, because we could be streaming late.
- 1:04:18That's true for we're there for four nights.
- 1:04:23So theory, in theory, I could handle business four games to
- 1:04:28none and we can just we can just be on our merry way.
- 1:04:31But we may just have to may have to adjust.
- 1:04:35But yeah, we're going to stream it.
- 1:04:37Don't know what teams we're going to be at.
- 1:04:41I think I'm also going to pick up college football in the year
- 1:04:45of college football. I don't know what, what year.
- 1:04:48Again, you keep talking about these other games.
- 1:04:49I don't know if we're going to have that much time.
- 1:04:51I don't think you're fully aware of what it looks like when I'm
- 1:04:56not near my wife. You.
- 1:04:58Say based the whole time we're there?
- 1:04:59Who knows? You say this, but I've been
- 1:05:03around you. You're going to be sleepy Joe
- 1:05:06first. You're going to be croaked at
- 1:05:08like 10. Nah man, Nah man Nah.
- 1:05:16Anyway, we'll be streaming, we're looking forward to it.
- 1:05:19All the details of the trip are coming into coming into focus.
- 1:05:23We're going to get some voting in soon.
- 1:05:25Voting. All Star voting.
- 1:05:27Yeah, maybe we'll do that next episode if if nothing happens
- 1:05:30over the weekend, which, you know, who knows?
- 1:05:34Maybe the Red Sox want to trade someone else.
- 1:05:39Maybe Rafi Devers demands a trade so he can catch.
- 1:05:42Who knows? I don't Hard to say.
- 1:05:45But if, if nothing happens, maybe, maybe next episode, we,
- 1:05:50we put in our votes. We we cast our ballots.
- 1:05:54OK, cool. Dog up.
- 1:06:01Yeah, do some research on buttons, some cannon scent,
- 1:06:04cannon sounds. Yeah, last thing I'll say on
- 1:06:09that, I was, I actually had this idea, you know the I might.
- 1:06:18What about those confetti cannons?
- 1:06:22No, I was talking about possibly a possibly a shirt or a hat
- 1:06:27idea. The credit cannon, you know the
- 1:06:30you know the come and take it flag.
- 1:06:34Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:36It's like got a literal like hand on it.
- 1:06:39Yeah, I had a little inspiration with that.
- 1:06:42I was toying around with some ideas today.
- 1:06:44I. Don't hate it.
- 1:06:44I don't hate it. Just just throwing that out
- 1:06:47there. So may, may, may come up with
- 1:06:51something for that. We'll see.
- 1:06:53Cool. Anyways, I got.
- 1:06:55To go shower, it's 112 today. It's dry heat, It's dry heat.
- 1:07:00We love you all and as always, looking forward to talking more
- 1:07:02baseball with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
