- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready for another episode? I've been practicing asking prices, and I'm feeling good. Lucas: Oh, that's great! You'll probably use that a lot. Today, we're going to talk about getting around — transport words. Luna: Ooh, like how to say 'car' or 'bus'? That sounds super useful. Lucas: Exactly. And if you find these episodes helpful, you know what keeps them ad-free? Listener support. You can buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo — it helps us keep teaching. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to say thanks. But now, let's get moving! What's the word for car? Lucas: Car in Amharic is መኪና. Let's say it together: መኪና. Luna: መኪና. That's kind of fun to say. Lucas: Nice. And a minibus, which is very common in Ethiopia, is ሚኒቡስ. Try it. Luna: ሚኒቡስ. Sounds like the English word but with an Amharic accent. Lucas: Yeah, many transport words are borrowed. Now, if you want to ask a driver, 'Are you going to the market?' you say That's a mouthful. Let me try: ወደ ገበያ... Lucas: Perfect! You're getting it. And if you want to say 'Take me to the hotel,' it's So ውሰደኝ means 'take me'? Luna: Right. And the driver might say 'አዎ' for yes. Lucas: Sounds great. Or you could say ወደ ሆቴሉ ውሰደኝ if you're in a ሚኒቡስ. Luna: Okay, let me try that whole sentence: ወደ ሆቴሉ ውሰደኝ. Lucas: Nailed it. So to recap: መኪና, ሚኒቡስ, and the two phrases. Let me hear them one more time. Luna: Sure! How was that? Lucas: Flawless. Now you can hop in any transport in Ethiopia. Keep practicing, and next time we'll take it further. Until then, this is Learn Amharic with Fexingo. Bye! Luna: Bye!
