- 2:56Speaker 6: the first time, like subscribed and comment. If you're coming back, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome,
- 3:04Speaker 6: I hope you had a wonderful Wednesday. And like every
- 3:11Speaker 6: day week, we're starting with a quote, and this week's
- 3:18Speaker 6: quote comes from the Bible, Second Samuel seven fourteen to
- 3:25Speaker 6: fifteen I will be a father to him, and you'll
- 3:30Speaker 6: be a son to me. When he does wrong, I'll
- 3:35Speaker 6: discipline him in the usual ways the pitfalls and obstacles of.
- 3:42Speaker 1: This mortal life.
- 3:44Speaker 6: But I'll never remove my graciousness from him once again.
- 3:50Speaker 6: That is from Second Samuel seven, fourteen and fifteen. And
- 3:57Speaker 6: before we do anything, we like to go to the
- 4:01Speaker 6: throne of grace.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Because the Word says that whatever.
- 4:05Speaker 6: You do, do it in Jesus' name, Oh dear heavenly Father,
- 4:13Speaker 6: in the preseless, matchless name of your son Jesus, we
- 4:18Speaker 6: come to you tonight.
- 4:20Speaker 5: God.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Now we put this program into your hands. God, let
- 4:24Speaker 6: it be edifying to the body of Christ, so that
- 4:28Speaker 6: we cannot only.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Live in the church, but outside of the church.
- 4:33Speaker 6: God, bless everybody who is listening on tonight. You know
- 4:37Speaker 6: the things that they have need of. God, grant them
- 4:41Speaker 6: those things that they have need of. We don't even
- 4:45Speaker 6: know how to pray, as we all, but Jesus works
- 4:49Speaker 6: antnccessry for usn't tonight We give you the glory, we
- 4:54Speaker 6: give you the power, and we give you the honor
- 4:57Speaker 6: in Jesus' name. On tonight we are talking about fatherhood
- 5:06Speaker 6: and father engagement. That a lot of fathers think that
- 5:15Speaker 6: if they just pay their child support that that is sufficient.
- 5:22Speaker 6: But research has shown that it is more important for
- 5:28Speaker 6: a father to be in their child's life than just
- 5:34Speaker 6: to donate money. That a child needs their father and
- 5:40Speaker 6: their life.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I was.
- 5:44Speaker 6: I went to an in service training a couple of
- 5:48Speaker 6: years ago, and I found out that I was a
- 5:51Speaker 6: little biased. That I would concentrate on the mother's in
- 5:57Speaker 6: my classroom, but I would not do anything to encourage
- 6:04Speaker 6: the fathers because I grew up in a father's home.
- 6:10Speaker 6: My son had male role models, but his father passed
- 6:16Speaker 6: away when he was very young. So I found out
- 6:22Speaker 6: that because I was so used to doing everything on
- 6:27Speaker 6: my own and being a single mother, that I didn't
- 6:33Speaker 6: make the fathers feel like they were welcome in my classroom.
- 6:37Speaker 6: And then I began to change that and would do
- 6:41Speaker 6: things to encourage the fathers to come into the classroom
- 6:48Speaker 6: and spend time with their children, because a lot of
- 6:52Speaker 6: the fathers would think that if they go to work
- 6:56Speaker 6: and they're providing for their family that that is enough.
- 7:03Speaker 6: But we found out doing research that children that fathers
- 7:10Speaker 6: are in their life are less likely to get in
- 7:15Speaker 6: trouble less likely to join gangs, less likely to have
- 7:21Speaker 6: a teenage pregnancy. Because boys need their fathers to show
- 7:28Speaker 6: them how.
- 7:29Speaker 1: To be a man, how to love a woman.
- 7:33Speaker 6: Girls need their father to show them how a man
- 7:40Speaker 6: is supposed to treat a woman. And when a father
- 7:46Speaker 6: has been a good role model for his children, most
- 7:51Speaker 6: of the time a girl looks for in a man
- 7:56Speaker 6: the same things that she received from her father. And
- 8:04Speaker 6: so there are many ways. Because I spent thirty two
- 8:09Speaker 6: years I'm teaching a headstart, I am familiar with the
- 8:14Speaker 6: three to five year.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Old age groups.
- 8:18Speaker 6: And we used to do a lot of activities to
- 8:24Speaker 6: get the fathers to come in. And sometimes you have
- 8:29Speaker 6: to adjust your schedule to work in fathers. Like sometimes
- 8:36Speaker 6: we would have things in the morning before they went
- 8:40Speaker 6: to work, and I would tell them, you don't have
- 8:42Speaker 6: to stay all day, just show up for a few minutes,
- 8:48Speaker 6: help sell birth, breakfast, read a book to the child,
- 8:53Speaker 6: to the children, and it doesn't you can still go
- 8:58Speaker 6: to work. Sometimes we do things after school that when
- 9:03Speaker 6: the fathers got off they can attend. And I'm very
- 9:08Speaker 6: very excited right now that my guest is here and
- 9:15Speaker 6: he's in the stead of chaplain Anthony James, how are
- 9:20Speaker 6: you doing?
- 9:22Speaker 5: Man, I'm blessed. I'm blessed. How you doing Alma's alway
- 9:25Speaker 5: is a blessing, you know what I mean. You're a soldier.
- 9:27Speaker 5: You definitely definitely are doing what God is calling you
- 9:30Speaker 5: to do. So I'm honored to be here tonight to
- 9:34Speaker 5: share this platform with you tonight.
- 9:37Speaker 6: And I am honored to have you on this platform.
- 9:42Speaker 6: So can you tell us a little bit about you?
- 9:46Speaker 6: At the end of the show, I'm going to allow
- 9:48Speaker 6: you to talk about your books and how people can
- 9:50Speaker 6: read you. But right now, can you tell us a
- 9:53Speaker 6: little bit about Chaplin James?
- 9:55Speaker 2: Who? Well it is Chaplain James. Well, you know, I'm
- 9:59Speaker 2: originally from New York.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I relocated to North Carolina twelve years ago. It's been
- 10:05Speaker 5: a long twelve years, went so fast though, And so
- 10:09Speaker 5: you know, I just listening to you talk about the
- 10:13Speaker 5: father the fatherless homes and with all that stuff that
- 10:17Speaker 5: you and you can see I see said got my
- 10:18Speaker 5: shirt on empowered fathers.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 10:21Speaker 5: I'm an empowered father today. And once upon a time,
- 10:25Speaker 5: you know, I had I had the same struggles dealing
- 10:29Speaker 5: with because I got three children by three different women.
- 10:32Speaker 2: So that was. I know what you're talking about, because
- 10:35Speaker 2: I came to the head start.
- 10:36Speaker 5: To deal with my children even when you was working there,
- 10:40Speaker 5: you know what I mean. So I can attest to that.
- 10:42Speaker 5: And yeah, this journey has been for me. Being a
- 10:46Speaker 5: father man is very important. Is detrimental to the point
- 10:52Speaker 5: whereas now if you see these younger these teenagers now
- 10:56Speaker 5: growing up without a father in the home, man, it's
- 10:59Speaker 5: not a good situation. So I've been on this journey
- 11:02Speaker 5: trying to connect with different men that's dealt with the
- 11:06Speaker 5: same situations I've dealt with as far as leaving the home,
- 11:10Speaker 5: leaving the children in the situation, and and and and
- 11:14Speaker 5: and it's a struggle. And so my ministry, you know,
- 11:17Speaker 5: I've been God has been blessing me to do this
- 11:19Speaker 5: ministry in the prisons. Outside the prisons, I have a
- 11:23Speaker 5: mentorship program. I deal with just men, you know, coming out,
- 11:27Speaker 5: men that ain't never been to prison, that still deal with,
- 11:29Speaker 5: you know, being fatherless to their kids in some sense,
- 11:33Speaker 5: you know.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And so that's what's been going on in my life.
- 11:35Speaker 5: And my ministry God is definitely just it's a crazy
- 11:40Speaker 5: ministry to the point.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Of it's hard. It's hard because men.
- 11:45Speaker 5: We're very tough, we're very hard headed, we're very stubborn
- 11:49Speaker 5: in areas, and so to pull men together, to get
- 11:51Speaker 5: them to realize that the mistakes they made based on
- 11:56Speaker 5: you know now, it's.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Hard to get them. So that's it's been a real
- 12:00Speaker 2: real challenge for me. But I'm I'm for the challenge.
- 12:04Speaker 6: Hey man, looking back on your career, I talk about
- 12:09Speaker 6: something that you regret.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I regret my career.
- 12:18Speaker 5: I regret not I'm gonna say, you know, just getting
- 12:25Speaker 5: it because I had a father in my life. I
- 12:27Speaker 5: had a father. I was brought up in a two
- 12:29Speaker 5: family home. My dad stayed with my mom for sixty years,
- 12:33Speaker 5: you know what I mean. So I had that experience.
- 12:36Speaker 5: So but I'm not my dad. One thing that me
- 12:39Speaker 5: and my dad we were present in the household because
- 12:42Speaker 5: he stayed there, but we didn't have any connection. And
- 12:45Speaker 5: so that I regretted leaving the nest earlier than I
- 12:49Speaker 5: was supposed to, because once I left, the next my
- 12:52Speaker 5: father was like, if you leave, you ain't coming back here.
- 12:56Speaker 5: And once I did that, my life just spiraled out
- 12:58Speaker 5: of control, you know what I mean. Because I didn't
- 13:01Speaker 5: have that male figure that really loved me because the
- 13:04Speaker 5: streets ain't love me.
- 13:06Speaker 2: The streets showed a false type of love.
- 13:08Speaker 5: So I regret leaving my household at an age where
- 13:12Speaker 5: I didn't understand anything, at the age of fourteen, I left,
- 13:16Speaker 5: came back, then other stuff started happening. That's that's the
- 13:20Speaker 5: regret that I you know, that I can look back
- 13:23Speaker 5: on and say, man, that was my greatest regret leaving
- 13:27Speaker 5: the house early.
- 13:29Speaker 1: What was your proudest moment as a father?
- 13:34Speaker 5: My proudest moment, you know, when they was born, When
- 13:40Speaker 5: they was born, you know, because I didn't know what
- 13:43Speaker 5: being a father was until even all through the pregnancies
- 13:46Speaker 5: or whatever. But at the end of the day, once
- 13:49Speaker 5: that child came, I didn't. I was just proud, like, Wow,
- 13:54Speaker 5: I'm gonna be a dad. I'm gonna be a father
- 13:56Speaker 5: like you know. So that was one of my proudest
- 14:00Speaker 5: moment of being a father.
- 14:03Speaker 1: What was your farthest moment as being a faller?
- 14:07Speaker 5: Being responsible? Being responsible because I didn't understand. I saw
- 14:13Speaker 5: my dad do it, but I'm not my dad. So
- 14:18Speaker 5: because when trial and ever came, he still stood the
- 14:21Speaker 5: test of time.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I did.
- 14:23Speaker 5: I ran, I ran, So you know, artist is being
- 14:29Speaker 5: a father being a person that heard about my child,
- 14:34Speaker 5: my children and helping. Matter of fact, trying to nurture.
- 14:39Speaker 5: The woman's the nurturer. I'm the head, so trying to
- 14:42Speaker 5: be the head man. If you don't know what that
- 14:45Speaker 5: consists of, better ask somebody.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You know what I mean, and ask somebody.
- 14:51Speaker 6: So you talked about your father being in a home,
- 14:56Speaker 6: and then he was there, but y'all didn't really communicate.
- 15:02Speaker 6: So how would you like to be like your father?
- 15:09Speaker 6: And what part of you is different from your father?
- 15:13Speaker 5: Well, the part of me that was different from my
- 15:15Speaker 5: dad because there was seven of us, okay, so he
- 15:19Speaker 5: was like listen, he didn't really communicate much.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He had to make ends meet, so at the end
- 15:25Speaker 2: of the day, he was tough man round it.
- 15:28Speaker 5: You know. We played with us at times, but for
- 15:31Speaker 5: the most part, you know, for instance, like cut the grass.
- 15:34Speaker 5: We had chores back then, so at the end of
- 15:37Speaker 5: the day, I had to cut the grass, but I
- 15:39Speaker 5: didn't do it right. So I used to get a
- 15:41Speaker 5: beaten for not doing it right. And what I did
- 15:44Speaker 5: different than my dad did with me. Instead of telling
- 15:48Speaker 5: my children, I showed my children, you know what I mean,
- 15:51Speaker 5: because it's a big difference when you tell somebody to
- 15:54Speaker 5: do something that's just like nobody never got on Google,
- 15:58Speaker 5: and you tell them the Google this, they may be
- 16:01Speaker 5: able to cut Google on, but do they understand what
- 16:04Speaker 5: Google really consists of?
- 16:05Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 16:06Speaker 5: And so I didn't understand because when I did the grass,
- 16:10Speaker 5: I made the lines a little crooked. My dad didn't
- 16:13Speaker 5: like that. So in my head I was saying, man,
- 16:15Speaker 5: why I just do show me? If he showed me,
- 16:18Speaker 5: I'll probably do a better job. So through that trial
- 16:21Speaker 5: and error, what I've learned from that to show my
- 16:24Speaker 5: kids better than just telling them because they don't understand.
- 16:29Speaker 2: So that was the difference.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So what lessons do you hope to pass on to
- 16:35Speaker 1: your children?
- 16:36Speaker 5: Well, I want to pass on first of all, having
- 16:40Speaker 5: to building a relationship with God. That's first and foremost.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I want them to learn that from me. I want
- 16:47Speaker 5: to pass that on as a legacy, not just money.
- 16:50Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Inheritance is what you who you become, not what you get.
- 16:55Speaker 5: So my legacy I want to leave my children to
- 16:58Speaker 5: honor God. Is that honor themselves and then honor their
- 17:01Speaker 5: parents as well. I want them to honor their parents,
- 17:05Speaker 5: you know, because this generation. Now there's no honor because
- 17:09Speaker 5: they would raise a certain kind of way, and I'm
- 17:12Speaker 5: glad I was raised that way, so I would I
- 17:13Speaker 5: would love to leave that with my children to really
- 17:16Speaker 5: tap into the spirit of God as they know, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 5: get to know who God is.
- 17:20Speaker 2: It's a journey. So that's what I would love to leave.
- 17:24Speaker 6: What relationships do you think have helped you keep your
- 17:29Speaker 6: friendships and rahmatic romantic relationship strong, especially your marriage now, Well.
- 17:37Speaker 5: I mean to be honest with you, I can't really
- 17:42Speaker 5: attest to a person.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I can attest to God.
- 17:47Speaker 5: The spirit of God is what helped me because I've
- 17:49Speaker 5: been through two divorces. This is my third marriage, so
- 17:54Speaker 5: I really didn't Back then it was taboo to talk
- 17:57Speaker 5: to people. It was taboo for somebody to get in
- 17:59Speaker 5: your business. You didn't want nobody in your business. And
- 18:02Speaker 5: so I had to lean close to God to help
- 18:04Speaker 5: me understand what love is really about because I didn't know.
- 18:08Speaker 5: I didn't understand it. I thought love was having sex
- 18:11Speaker 5: and you know, going out on the date, and I
- 18:13Speaker 5: thought it was just about that, you know what I mean.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Intimacy is way deeper than that.
- 18:18Speaker 5: So I had to learn from God to really love
- 18:20Speaker 5: myself first before I can love any other woman.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 18:26Speaker 6: Right, if you could change one thing about your fatherhood,
- 18:33Speaker 6: what would it be.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Well, I would be more patient.
- 18:41Speaker 5: I would be more patient, like I'm getting now, because
- 18:46Speaker 5: it's a thing when you get older, you know, things
- 18:48Speaker 5: start changing a little bit, you know what I mean,
- 18:50Speaker 5: You start seeing a little differently. But in my younger years,
- 18:54Speaker 5: married and being a father, you know I would I
- 18:57Speaker 5: would pay attention more responsible in certain areas where I missed,
- 19:04Speaker 5: you know what I mean, where I could have missed that.
- 19:06Speaker 2: You know I could have get a little better. You
- 19:08Speaker 2: know I would. I would pay attention to that, just
- 19:11Speaker 2: being more patient and aware.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You know what quality do you most value in yourself?
- 19:21Speaker 5: Well, I'm I'm I'm I'm humble, you know, I'm God fearing,
- 19:28Speaker 5: I love. I understand what love is. That's the qualities.
- 19:32Speaker 5: And I'm understanding. I used to hate that. I said, Lord,
- 19:37Speaker 5: you put understanding. Why do you want me to understand everything?
- 19:41Speaker 5: You understand? So I understand that that's very valuable to understands.
- 19:45Speaker 5: And we know in Proverbs four and seven it says
- 19:47Speaker 5: it all by getting get understanding, because we go through
- 19:51Speaker 5: life with these different ideologies and methodologies, but we don't understand,
- 19:57Speaker 5: and that's when you get.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Hurt or you hurt someone else.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Lack of understanding, So understanding is really really worth. That's
- 20:05Speaker 5: my go to trying to understand what my walk is about.
- 20:09Speaker 6: You know, do you think that this is not a
- 20:13Speaker 6: question that I wrote down, but do you think now
- 20:18Speaker 6: that a lot of women don't understand how important a
- 20:25Speaker 6: father relationship is to their children, Like when you break
- 20:29Speaker 6: up with me, now you can't see your kids anymore.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And a lot of fathers.
- 20:34Speaker 6: There are some fathers that hang in there and fight,
- 20:38Speaker 6: but there's a lot of fathers just walk away because
- 20:41Speaker 6: they don't want to go through that drama.
- 20:43Speaker 1: So you think that there's a lot of women who
- 20:46Speaker 1: use their children as a.
- 20:48Speaker 5: Pawn for sure? For sure, that's that's part of the problem.
- 20:53Speaker 5: That's part of the problem. It's not all the men,
- 20:56Speaker 5: you know what I mean? Because it's like, you know,
- 20:58Speaker 5: I have a program called Boys Becoming Men, and it's
- 21:01Speaker 5: a lot of boys and men bodies that they.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Don't really understand.
- 21:05Speaker 5: But the ones that do try to stay there with
- 21:07Speaker 5: their children to conflict with the mother and the father.
- 21:11Speaker 5: The woman does use the kids for pawns, because that's
- 21:16Speaker 5: her only, that's her strength, because she know physicality, she
- 21:19Speaker 5: can't beat a man. Or the only way to get
- 21:22Speaker 5: to a man's heart is his children. So so of
- 21:26Speaker 5: course that's that's huge right now.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And I hear a lot of women speaking out against it.
- 21:31Speaker 5: But the damage, once the damage is done, it's like
- 21:36Speaker 5: a woman's scorn.
- 21:37Speaker 2: They said, hell has no fury, you know what I mean.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Once once that woman is upset what you've done with
- 21:42Speaker 5: you like that, you just gotta figure it out the
- 21:46Speaker 5: best way you can. And I thank God that because
- 21:49Speaker 5: of my upbringing, because of God, you know.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I had a lot of that drama in my life.
- 21:55Speaker 5: And but I stayed the course with my children because
- 21:57Speaker 5: I love my children, because.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Didn't think I did learn My dad didn't leave me.
- 22:03Speaker 2: He didn't care what my mom dealt with. You know
- 22:05Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
- 22:06Speaker 5: He keep brusting off, but he made sure he stayed
- 22:09Speaker 5: there and she was represented.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And so I try to follow.
- 22:13Speaker 5: That, you know. But yeah, of course the women they need,
- 22:17Speaker 5: they need they need some help too in that area,
- 22:20Speaker 5: you know, because it's it's it's not about just the woman.
- 22:22Speaker 5: You didn't just lay down and have that baby by yourself.
- 22:25Speaker 5: You understand that man was very present at that time,
- 22:29Speaker 5: you know.
- 22:29Speaker 6: So yeah, yeah, that's true that I even as a woman,
- 22:34Speaker 6: I see that and that A lot of times it's like, Oh,
- 22:38Speaker 6: if he's not paying child to border, he's not giving
- 22:41Speaker 6: me what I want, or he had don't have another girlfriend,
- 22:45Speaker 6: then oh I don't want that be around me. You
- 22:48Speaker 6: don't even know how justn't done anything to harm your child,
- 22:52Speaker 6: but just because he's with someone else, you have a
- 22:55Speaker 6: very negative attitude. So I think that women need to
- 23:00Speaker 6: be educated, but your children need their father. Like a
- 23:08Speaker 6: lot of times will say, oh, I don't need no man.
- 23:12Speaker 1: My son don't need no father. But I was a single.
- 23:16Speaker 6: Parent and I had to before my son passed away,
- 23:21Speaker 6: I had to give him male role models because I
- 23:25Speaker 6: couldn't teach him how to be a man. I couldn't
- 23:32Speaker 6: know how a man feels, what a man is going through.
- 23:36Speaker 6: He needed other men to teach him that right. And
- 23:41Speaker 6: you know, because his father passed away, we had to
- 23:45Speaker 6: find men in the community like you that you know,
- 23:51Speaker 6: go out just not for your own child, but for
- 23:56Speaker 6: other children to see that positive role, male role model
- 24:02Speaker 6: in their life. A lot of people of men don't
- 24:05Speaker 6: know how to be men because they didn't have any
- 24:08Speaker 6: men in their lives, and we as women, tried to substitute.
- 24:13Speaker 6: But a man, a woman can't, no matter how you
- 24:16Speaker 6: argue when you look at it, a woman cannot teach a.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Man how to be a man.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Right, So are the things you wouldh you had you
- 24:29Speaker 6: had done differently as a father?
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yes, yes, of course.
- 24:38Speaker 5: I mean we all think back and to see the
- 24:41Speaker 5: mistakes or the decisions that we made to now you're
- 24:45Speaker 5: a little older, you're a little bit more disciplined, and
- 24:47Speaker 5: you're like, wow, man, if I did this a little
- 24:49Speaker 5: bit differently, and yeah, you know, one of the things I,
- 24:54Speaker 5: you know, wish I would have done was to not
- 24:59Speaker 5: beat myself self up so hard, you know, not not
- 25:03Speaker 5: put so much pressure because I had to learn, you
- 25:07Speaker 5: know what I mean. This is not doesn't come with
- 25:09Speaker 5: a script or a book or you know, you don't
- 25:12Speaker 5: get answers, but you got to go through the process
- 25:15Speaker 5: of learning and.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Growing because you have to get to know the children.
- 25:19Speaker 5: The children has to get to know you, not just
- 25:21Speaker 5: respect you, but know you. You know what I mean,
- 25:24Speaker 5: that you that they know that you. You know what
- 25:27Speaker 5: I stood for and I did pretty good at it.
- 25:30Speaker 5: But at the same token, you know, just just could
- 25:35Speaker 5: have been more, a little bit more assertive, you know,
- 25:41Speaker 5: I was.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I was always you know, I was kind of you know,
- 25:47Speaker 2: I was, I was. Really it was a lot, It
- 25:50Speaker 2: was a lot. Raising children is not a game.
- 25:52Speaker 5: You know, most men, you know, they take flight because
- 25:58Speaker 5: the responsibility.
- 25:59Speaker 2: But once I I started understanding that.
- 26:02Speaker 5: God, he's he's those are his children, I had to
- 26:07Speaker 5: understand I had to get it right because they didn't
- 26:08Speaker 5: actually be born into this world. So that helped me
- 26:11Speaker 5: kick into another situation to say, yoh, you know what,
- 26:14Speaker 5: I got to learn.
- 26:14Speaker 2: His fatherhood thing, because this is serious. This is serious.
- 26:18Speaker 2: This is not a game.
- 26:19Speaker 5: This is a soul we're talking about, you know what
- 26:22Speaker 5: I mean. This is a life of breathing life. And
- 26:24Speaker 5: so yeah that, yeah, that's.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Tough and man, but I've seen you.
- 26:33Speaker 6: In your father role from when your daughter was in
- 26:37Speaker 6: head Start, and everyone I liked. A value was that
- 26:42Speaker 6: every event that she was a part of I would
- 26:47Speaker 6: look into the audience and see you there. Even when
- 26:52Speaker 6: you moved North Carolina, at recitals, graduations, you were there.
- 26:58Speaker 6: And she is wonderful, wonderful young lady that she matured
- 27:04Speaker 6: in two. So I've seen you, you know, being a
- 27:09Speaker 6: part of one of your children's life and really showing
- 27:13Speaker 6: her how a man is supposed to treat a woman
- 27:17Speaker 6: with the flowers and just always just being there for her,
- 27:22Speaker 6: like nobody can't come along and tell her the okie dope,
- 27:27Speaker 6: and she's gonna fall for it because she had a
- 27:30Speaker 6: real man and a life.
- 27:33Speaker 1: One more thing, do you think today's fathers.
- 27:36Speaker 6: Have things harder or easier than you had done?
- 27:42Speaker 5: Nah?
- 27:42Speaker 2: Well you can, like it's what you make it.
- 27:46Speaker 5: It's what you make of it, you know, because again
- 27:50Speaker 5: even moving, you know, I could have been like man,
- 27:53Speaker 5: because I went through a lot with the mothers of
- 27:55Speaker 5: my children a couple of times, and you know, and
- 27:59Speaker 5: I could to say, you know, what the heck with this?
- 28:02Speaker 2: You know, I I don't got to deal with this.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I was just pay child support.
- 28:06Speaker 5: But my heart, my heart wouldn't let me do that.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Plus the god I served wasn't gonna let me cop
- 28:12Speaker 5: out like that. And so because he always reminds me,
- 28:16Speaker 5: you know.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Check yourself, son, check yourself before you wreck yourself.
- 28:21Speaker 5: And because if you harm the very hands of mine,
- 28:24Speaker 5: I was like all right, lord, you know, because it
- 28:27Speaker 5: was some times where I was like, you know what,
- 28:28Speaker 5: I wasn't gonna never leave to see my dad.
- 28:31Speaker 2: He never, he never left us. See.
- 28:34Speaker 5: But the bottom line is he didn't go through what
- 28:37Speaker 5: I went through because of he stayed.
- 28:41Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying. That was the difference. He stayed.
- 28:43Speaker 5: He dealt with it inside. Most men now they have
- 28:47Speaker 5: to deal with it outside. And when you have to
- 28:50Speaker 5: deal with a situation outside, you know how much stuff
- 28:52Speaker 5: you can't see that's coming at you.
- 28:56Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying. Once you're on the inside
- 28:58Speaker 2: of it, you can see it. At least.
- 29:00Speaker 5: You may not be dealing with it the way you
- 29:02Speaker 5: really want to, but you are aware of what's happening
- 29:05Speaker 5: because you are close proximity. But if you're not close proximity,
- 29:10Speaker 5: anything goes. They can the mothers can do anything, can
- 29:13Speaker 5: say anything.
- 29:14Speaker 2: And you're just not there. And that was my problem.
- 29:17Speaker 5: I was out when I left the homes, I ripped something.
- 29:23Speaker 5: That was the disappointment right there, you know. And so
- 29:28Speaker 5: I'm still to this day building relationships with my children.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Even though it's okay, but it's room for improvement.
- 29:35Speaker 5: But because I left, that really tore something that I
- 29:39Speaker 5: can't blame that.
- 29:40Speaker 2: On them or the woman. I have to take full
- 29:45Speaker 2: responsibility for that. And it has whipped my tails up.
- 29:49Speaker 5: But it whooped me in a place whereas I understand
- 29:53Speaker 5: like wow, okay, wow, this is what this is the
- 29:56Speaker 5: fruit from the root that happened. So I had to
- 30:00Speaker 5: uproot myself. We planted myself and then going in a
- 30:07Speaker 5: different way.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Amen, So tell us about your book and what are
- 30:15Speaker 6: you doing now.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Where the audience can reach you?
- 30:22Speaker 2: Right? Well, I have a book called The Millionaires Brother.
- 30:25Speaker 5: You know, I ain't gonna tell you the whole story,
- 30:28Speaker 5: but I had a brother went to the you know,
- 30:30Speaker 5: I ain't gonna even go there.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Stay. It's called The Millionaires Brother. And I wrote the
- 30:34Speaker 2: book in twenty fifteen.
- 30:38Speaker 5: It came to me twenty ten when I was in
- 30:40Speaker 5: New York, but because I was going through so much turmoil,
- 30:44Speaker 5: God didn't allow me to write the book until I
- 30:46Speaker 5: reached North Carolina. When I reached North Carolina, somebody actually
- 30:50Speaker 5: ghost writing the book for me. They were so moved
- 30:52Speaker 5: by my story and so, but the catch to the
- 30:56Speaker 5: book is The Millionaires Brother, you know. But the subject
- 31:00Speaker 5: title of my book, overcoming the addictions of life. That's
- 31:04Speaker 5: what's moving right now, especially with the opioids. It's not
- 31:07Speaker 5: just drugs, because you can be addicted to anything food,
- 31:11Speaker 5: you can be addicted to sex, you can be addicted
- 31:14Speaker 5: to gambling.
- 31:15Speaker 2: So it speaks to that.
- 31:16Speaker 5: And so the book is actually I you know, wrote
- 31:21Speaker 5: the book and it's on Amazon, you know, but I
- 31:24Speaker 5: have my own website, W do because what I tell people,
- 31:27Speaker 5: you can go to Amazon, but Amazon is not going
- 31:29Speaker 5: to give you an autograph. So I'll send people to
- 31:33Speaker 5: my website www Dot Millionaires.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Brother dot com.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Www Dot Millionaires Brother dot com.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And it's a book of testimonies. It's a powers.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Book of my life, you know, what I've been through
- 31:47Speaker 5: as a youth to up until you know, I went
- 31:50Speaker 5: to prison.
- 31:51Speaker 2: It talks about all of that stuff, you know what
- 31:53Speaker 2: I mean.
- 31:55Speaker 5: I was in the streets from nineteen seventy nine all
- 31:59Speaker 5: the way to nineteen ninety two. That's a long time
- 32:04Speaker 5: and so it was a lot of nefarious things that
- 32:06Speaker 5: happened to me. But it's in the book, and so
- 32:09Speaker 5: you can catch that on Amazon. Plus you can go
- 32:11Speaker 5: to my website www Dot Millionaires Brother dot com. And yeah,
- 32:16Speaker 5: the book is doing pretty decent right now, I'm moving
- 32:19Speaker 5: around with the book. It's like it's like I'm a
- 32:21Speaker 5: It's like my book is a car. I get in
- 32:24Speaker 5: my book and drive, you know what I mean. I'm
- 32:27Speaker 5: driving my book right now.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And so you know, I self published, you know what
- 32:31Speaker 2: I mean.
- 32:32Speaker 5: I didn't have the money for publicist because I didn't
- 32:34Speaker 5: understand what it was.
- 32:35Speaker 2: And I was encouraged to.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Publish published, you know, self published, and that worked out
- 32:40Speaker 5: for me because God didn't want the book to go
- 32:43Speaker 5: fast for me to blow up. He wanted me to
- 32:45Speaker 5: go through a journey with this book because it's a
- 32:48Speaker 5: rough it's a lot of stuff. It's a lot of
- 32:51Speaker 5: stuff in this book that you're going to see yourself
- 32:54Speaker 5: in this book. If you get this book, you were
- 32:56Speaker 5: going to see yourself or see somebody else in your
- 32:59Speaker 5: family or some money that you know, that's how closely
- 33:03Speaker 5: you're gonna you're gonna you're gonna really see yourself because
- 33:06Speaker 5: I touched on everything that the pitfalls that I went through,
- 33:11Speaker 5: you know. And the tricker I don't even use satan.
- 33:15Speaker 5: Satan or Satan does is add on. He doesn't have
- 33:17Speaker 5: any power. He has the power suggestion. He talked to
- 33:20Speaker 5: me a lot because I allowed him to talk to
- 33:23Speaker 5: me because I was in sin.
- 33:25Speaker 2: And that's all through the book. So if you get
- 33:28Speaker 2: that book, you're gonna be blessed, you know what I mean?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Amen?
- 33:32Speaker 6: Amen, So repeat your website.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Your website once again.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Www Dot Millionaires Brother dot com.
- 33:45Speaker 2: And it's on Amazon.
- 33:46Speaker 5: You go to Amazon, but I encourage you to get
- 33:48Speaker 5: the book through www Dot Millionaires Brother dot com. And plus,
- 33:53Speaker 5: you see my shirt here Empowered Fathers.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Got a checklist, you know.
- 33:58Speaker 5: I have also a Kingdom Wear Store dot com and
- 34:01Speaker 5: have a store a claw a T shirt store Kingdom
- 34:05Speaker 5: Wearstore dot com. That's where you can get these shirts from.
- 34:09Speaker 5: It's available right now, you know. And and god, I'm
- 34:13Speaker 5: just using this for ministry. This is all tools for ministry.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Amen, Amen.
- 34:18Speaker 6: I've read The Millionaire's Brother and it's a very very
- 34:22Speaker 6: good book. I advise everyone who is listening to get
- 34:27Speaker 6: out and get that book.
- 34:29Speaker 1: So what's next for you, Chaplain James?
- 34:31Speaker 5: Well, I'm working on my next book now, you know.
- 34:34Speaker 5: I'm I'm in ministry. You know, because if you get
- 34:38Speaker 5: the book, it alludes to the next book. If you
- 34:41Speaker 5: get The Millionaire's Brother, it alludes to the next book
- 34:44Speaker 5: I'm writing now. So at the end of the day,
- 34:47Speaker 5: you know, the next thing is God is pushing me.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Right now. I'm here, I'm here.
- 34:52Speaker 5: In the streets. I'm in the streets. You know, I'm
- 34:54Speaker 5: trying it as a saying. You know, they call me
- 34:57Speaker 5: an unorthodox chaplain. So a lot people saying they make,
- 35:01Speaker 5: they trying to make. It's a little little inside joke,
- 35:05Speaker 5: you know.
- 35:05Speaker 2: They say, I'm trying to people trying to get out.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Of prisons, but I'm trying to get in, you know.
- 35:10Speaker 5: And so and that's what's happening right now. That's the
- 35:13Speaker 5: work I'm doing. I'm doing the work of the Lord,
- 35:15Speaker 5: and so I'm excited about it. And because I'm trying
- 35:19Speaker 5: to help these boys become men and man.
- 35:23Speaker 2: And so that's the catch.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Amen.
- 35:26Speaker 6: And can you pray for the men and the fathers
- 35:33Speaker 6: right now?
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yes, I can.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Father God in the name of Jesus, Lord, we thank
- 35:39Speaker 5: you right now for first allowing us to get up
- 35:43Speaker 5: this morning. We ask you for forgiveness for any things
- 35:46Speaker 5: that we fell short in. Lord, we're asking you right now.
- 35:51Speaker 5: You said when two of more's in the midst that
- 35:53Speaker 5: you are here. I believe you are here on this
- 35:55Speaker 5: broadcast for everybody who's listening, Lord, I pray for the men.
- 36:00Speaker 5: I pray for the boys that's in men's bodies. I
- 36:03Speaker 5: pray for the boys. I pray for the men that Lord,
- 36:06Speaker 5: you said you love men because we.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Are the heads and we are not the tales.
- 36:12Speaker 5: And I prayed, Lord, that you convict, preak our hearts,
- 36:16Speaker 5: prick the men's hearts, touch and deliver, and set free.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Set their minds free, Set them free from the captivity
- 36:23Speaker 5: that they are in right now in their own mind
- 36:26Speaker 5: because a lot of them are stuck in their ways
- 36:28Speaker 5: and they're stuck in their mind. Just help them to
- 36:31Speaker 5: understand that they got purpose, they got work to do,
- 36:36Speaker 5: because when you before you gave Adam a wife, you
- 36:39Speaker 5: gave him responsibility. Help them to understand that they got
- 36:43Speaker 5: to be responsible to do anything in this world. And
- 36:48Speaker 5: I just asked you to heal their hearts, heal their minds,
- 36:53Speaker 5: whatever they're going through.
- 36:54Speaker 2: The abuse.
- 36:55Speaker 5: Some fathers has been abused, some boys have been abused,
- 36:58Speaker 5: sexually abused, verbally abused, mentally abused.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Just Lord, just.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Help them to you know, have somebody to touch with
- 37:07Speaker 5: them and reach them wherever. Just pray that somebody gets
- 37:11Speaker 5: to these men and they have an epiphany, have something
- 37:16Speaker 5: with you, an encounter, so that they can wake up.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Because man, time is running out.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Time is running out, and you're giving us so many,
- 37:23Speaker 5: so much time to get it right. I thank God
- 37:25Speaker 5: for Jesus being on the right hand of you interceding
- 37:29Speaker 5: for us. And I'm saying, Lord, just wake awaken these men.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Awaken these boys, shake them up, shake them up as
- 37:36Speaker 5: you are doing.
- 37:37Speaker 2: And so I appreciate this platform right now.
- 37:40Speaker 5: And whoever's under the sound of my voice, men, male
- 37:43Speaker 5: counterpart as well as the women you know. Connect your boys,
- 37:48Speaker 5: connect your uncles, Connect your cousin, male cousins, connect them
- 37:53Speaker 5: because time is running out, and so pray right now
- 37:56Speaker 5: and Jesus name.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Amen, Amen, Amen, and thank you.
- 38:01Speaker 6: Thank you once again for taking your time and coming
