- 1:29Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland to the other, the backyard, you dig

- 1:36Speaker 1: among other things, the Clash at Studio fifty four, and
- 1:40Speaker 1: of course your voicemails, your texts, dms and more, and
- 1:44Speaker 1: as always, a whole lot of rosie. All right, this goes,
- 1:47Speaker 1: Let's get into it, all right? What is up? Welcome
- 2:03Speaker 1: to the after Party bonus episode. This week in Disgraceland,
- 2:07Speaker 1: in our main episode, we released a main, new, brand
- 2:10Speaker 1: new episode on the Clash. Band that is near and
- 2:14Speaker 1: dear to my heart, and I know it's likely the
- 2:17Speaker 1: same for you guys as well. Love this band, have
- 2:20Speaker 1: loved this band nearly my entire life, well my new
- 2:24Speaker 1: I should say, nearly my entire adult life. Lots of
- 2:28Speaker 1: crazy stories about the so called only band that matters
- 2:31Speaker 1: in our Clash episode this week. I got into this
- 2:35Speaker 1: obviously in the episode, but I get into it over
- 2:36Speaker 1: on Instagram as well. They found. The band found themselves
- 2:40Speaker 1: charged with terrorism in London, chased out of Jamaica by
- 2:44Speaker 1: drug kingpins. Very scary moment. And then you know two
- 2:48Speaker 1: main set pieces we focus on in this episode. First
- 2:52Speaker 1: is the legendary set of shows that the Clash did
- 2:55Speaker 1: at Bond International Casino in Times Square back in May
- 2:59Speaker 1: and June of nineteen eighty one. Band this book to
- 3:02Speaker 1: play seven shows there, but greedy promoters. This is fascinating.
- 3:06Speaker 1: This has never happened today. I don't think, I mean
- 3:08Speaker 1: it would happen. It would just happened in a different way,
- 3:10Speaker 1: using technology to their advantage. But basically what happened was
- 3:13Speaker 1: these greedy New York City promoters over sold every show
- 3:17Speaker 1: there were there. I can't recall if it was seven
- 3:20Speaker 1: or eight shows off the top of my head here,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but every show that the Clash had planned to do
- 3:24Speaker 1: they oversold them. And there was basically all these kids
- 3:28Speaker 1: who were going to get shut out and weren't going
- 3:30Speaker 1: to be able to go to the show. They had
- 3:31Speaker 1: paid money and they weren'ting to be able to attend.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So the Clash, being the reighteous dudentes that they were,
- 3:37Speaker 1: decided they were going to just keep playing shows until
- 3:40Speaker 1: every kid got in to see the band, and it
- 3:44Speaker 1: ended up being like seventeen total shows or something like that.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Just really fascinating. So that's a big piece of the story.
- 3:53Speaker 1: On Instagram, we get into, you know, beyond the podcast,
- 3:56Speaker 1: We get into suit did a little video on some
- 3:59Speaker 1: of the art that opened for the Clash, some of
- 4:02Speaker 1: the hip hop artists that Joe Stummer was into. That
- 4:05Speaker 1: he gave a platform two in the opening slots and
- 4:08Speaker 1: there's this really neat Robert de Niro, Martin Scorseesian anecdote
- 4:12Speaker 1: as well. We talked about the second set piece in
- 4:15Speaker 1: the Clash story from our full episode was this this
- 4:20Speaker 1: piece here, This is fascinating. It's still hard for me
- 4:23Speaker 1: to believe. But when the Clash were at the height
- 4:25Speaker 1: of their fame, Joe Strummer disappeared. No one knew where
- 4:29Speaker 1: he was, and at the moment of Combat Rock coming out,
- 4:34Speaker 1: which was a huge album for them, Joe Strummers is gone.
- 4:38Speaker 1: No one knows where he is, and the reason why
- 4:41Speaker 1: he was missing is fascinating. So you can hear all
- 4:45Speaker 1: these stories and more in this week's episode of Disgrace
- 4:48Speaker 1: Land on the Clash that's in your feeds right now.
- 4:51Speaker 1: If you have heard the episode, let me know what
- 4:53Speaker 1: you think. Six one seven nine oh six six six
- 4:55Speaker 1: three eight, and if you have not heard it, get
- 4:57Speaker 1: it into your years. The Clash are a fascinating group,
- 5:02Speaker 1: mold breaking band, one of the singular pop groups. And
- 5:07Speaker 1: I use that word on purpose pop because they ended
- 5:11Speaker 1: up going from punk to pop. And I don't mean
- 5:13Speaker 1: pop punk. I mean they transcended where they had started
- 5:18Speaker 1: punk rock and became something completely different with the album
- 5:23Speaker 1: I mentioned a couple of minutes ago, Combat Rock, and
- 5:26Speaker 1: this is part of the interesting story of the Clash.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't say that they became pop in a despair.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I don't mean to be disparaging when I say that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I'm not at all. I bring it up because it's
- 5:35Speaker 1: interesting to me. When I think about The Clash and
- 5:39Speaker 1: I think about the story we just told, and I
- 5:41Speaker 1: think about the intentions that Joe Strummer had when he
- 5:45Speaker 1: started that band, you know, you got to think like
- 5:47Speaker 1: the Clash. You know, there's an interesting comp between The
- 5:51Speaker 1: Clash and Public Enemy where you have the highly sort
- 5:54Speaker 1: of mission driven efforts of one artist in the band,
- 5:59Speaker 1: Joe Strummer, and then you sort of have a not
- 6:03Speaker 1: a completely different but a slightly different reason to be
- 6:08Speaker 1: from this. I don't want to say side guy, but
- 6:11Speaker 1: the other songwriter, who's Mick Jones in the band? Joe
- 6:14Speaker 1: Strummer obviously political, Mick Jones very pop oriented. And I
- 6:21Speaker 1: see this comp with Public Enemy, where you have Chuck
- 6:23Speaker 1: d who's very obviously political, and Flavor flav who's kind
- 6:28Speaker 1: of the foil. Not that Mick Jones was a foil,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but he definitely softened out the hard edges of Joe Strummer.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And if Mick Jones were not in the band and
- 6:36Speaker 1: not lending all those pop songwriting sensibilities to the group,
- 6:40Speaker 1: they wouldn't have been the band that they were, and
- 6:42Speaker 1: they wouldn't have been on the trajectory that they were,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and they wouldn't have started as they started, and they
- 6:46Speaker 1: wouldn't have had the impact they had, and they wouldn't
- 6:48Speaker 1: have ended as they had ended. And this happens with
- 6:51Speaker 1: a lot of bands. The Clash started out as this
- 6:53Speaker 1: one thing, this heavily mission driven band that was all
- 6:57Speaker 1: about authenticity, all about bringing the truth. Okay, three chords
- 7:02Speaker 1: in the truth. And as they got bigger, and as
- 7:06Speaker 1: they needed to stay bigger to continue to float the
- 7:09Speaker 1: boat that they had built their mission. They got off
- 7:13Speaker 1: course and this ight at Joe Strummer and they needed
- 7:17Speaker 1: to continue to grow as most endeavors do, or you
- 7:21Speaker 1: get swallowed up. But that ended up cutting to right
- 7:26Speaker 1: to the heart of what they were trying to do,
- 7:28Speaker 1: and not in a good way and undercutting what they
- 7:31Speaker 1: were trying to do. In other words, the bigger they got,
- 7:34Speaker 1: the less they were able to stay on course. And
- 7:38Speaker 1: this aid at Joe Strummer. I think it ate at
- 7:40Speaker 1: Mic Jones in a way, and there was always that
- 7:42Speaker 1: great tension between the two and ultimately it's what drove
- 7:45Speaker 1: them apart. And there are so many stories like this
- 7:48Speaker 1: in pop music, and if you look at I mean
- 7:51Speaker 1: everyone from Nirvana to Bob Dylan, there are very few
- 7:56Speaker 1: that figure out how to maintain the parts of the
- 8:00Speaker 1: original mission uh that that can transcend the group the
- 8:04Speaker 1: artist into a different phase of their career, both creatively personally.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It's very hard to do. It's very hard to make
- 8:12Speaker 1: that jump, and the Clash couldn't do it, and they
- 8:16Speaker 1: they broke up at I would say the height of
- 8:18Speaker 1: their fame really after Combat Rock. The irony is with
- 8:20Speaker 1: all that great songwriting tension between Joe Strummer and mc jones.
- 8:23Speaker 1: The irony is that one of their biggest hits, rock
- 8:26Speaker 1: the Caasbo, was written by their by their drummer topper,
- 8:30Speaker 1: which is just amazing. I didn't know that until we
- 8:31Speaker 1: get into the research for this. It's very interesting to me.
- 8:35Speaker 1: But all of this is to say, you know it
- 8:37Speaker 1: kind of it kind of made me think about the Beatles,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and the Beatles are a singular band for for lots
- 8:43Speaker 1: of reasons, but uh not least of which is the
- 8:46Speaker 1: fact that they just they stopped touring. This is a
- 8:49Speaker 1: famous thing that they did. Everyone knows this. They stopped
- 8:51Speaker 1: touring and they just became a studio band. It's something
- 8:55Speaker 1: that would never happen today, and if it did, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 1: kudos to someone who could pull it off. But because
- 9:01Speaker 1: they were able to do that, I feel like they
- 9:03Speaker 1: were able to sustain what was their mission for much
- 9:07Speaker 1: longer than they would have been had they just been
- 9:09Speaker 1: doing the regular artists, go make a record, go out
- 9:12Speaker 1: on the road cycle that all these bands get caught
- 9:16Speaker 1: up in. And the Beatles, I feel like, you know,
- 9:18Speaker 1: they just constantly were on the rise until they weren't.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They never really had that dip and as soon as
- 9:27Speaker 1: things stopped working, they stopped working. And you know, the Clash.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I love the Clash, but there are misses in their
- 9:35Speaker 1: discography and you can hear it when you listen to
- 9:38Speaker 1: the big swings that they took. And I'm not faulting
- 9:40Speaker 1: them for it, but eventually the weight of it all
- 9:42Speaker 1: became too much and they faded away. And we're gonna
- 9:45Speaker 1: get into this a little bit with Bob Dylan in
- 9:47Speaker 1: the new episode. We've got coming on him very shortly
- 9:50Speaker 1: for you. But it's just, you know, I don't really
- 9:52Speaker 1: know how to organize my thoughts around the Clash. I'm
- 9:55Speaker 1: sort of I'm seeing this take form here in real
- 10:00Speaker 1: time with you guys, and it's relative to not only
- 10:02Speaker 1: this band, but like I said, Bob Dylan beatles others.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And I'm going to keep digging into it with you guys,
- 10:08Speaker 1: try to get to the bottom of it in the meantime.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Six one seven nine oh six, six six three eight.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Hit me up on voicemail, hit me up on text.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Let me know what you thought of this Clash episode. Uh,
- 10:18Speaker 1: let me know. Are the Clash your favorite punk band?
- 10:21Speaker 1: How do you rate? We talked about our favorite nineties
- 10:24Speaker 1: Frontmen last week? How do you rate your sort of
- 10:27Speaker 1: pioneers of punk rock? You know, if we're looking at
- 10:31Speaker 1: those bands from the mid to late seventies, the Clash,
- 10:34Speaker 1: the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, there's a gazillion other ones.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You can throw the New York Dolls in there if
- 10:39Speaker 1: you want, even though they're kind of proto punk. Same
- 10:41Speaker 1: with the Stooges. How do you rate those early punk bands?
- 10:44Speaker 1: Where does the Clash sit for you? Are they number one?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Do you know that story about the Clash and the
- 10:50Speaker 1: Ramones and the first time that the Ramones visited England.
- 10:53Speaker 1: That's a good one. I'm not going to tell that now.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I'm going to save it. Six one seven nine oh six,
- 10:57Speaker 1: six six three eight. Greatest punk bands do it? Top five?
- 11:00Speaker 1: Top five punk bands for me? Okay, from the from
- 11:03Speaker 1: the early days, I know, you know, you don't know
- 11:05Speaker 1: they go to like Circle Jerks, Black Flag and Don't
- 11:07Speaker 1: Don't Hit Me with Green Day or any of that stuff.
- 11:09Speaker 1: OG punk Top five OG punk bands from the seventies,
- 11:12Speaker 1: let me know. Six months, seven nine oh six, six
- 11:14Speaker 1: six three eight. I'm gonna take a quick break back
- 11:16Speaker 1: in a minute with your voicemails and texts. All right,
- 11:40Speaker 1: last week we were talking about Scott Wiland and Stone
- 11:45Speaker 1: Tip of Pilots. We had that episode that we put
- 11:47Speaker 1: out and I put up a question. Top five nineties
- 11:50Speaker 1: front men got this? This is a good list, A
- 11:55Speaker 1: left of center list from Jay Smithy seven five seven
- 11:59Speaker 1: on instat right, saying sure you had a million messages
- 12:02Speaker 1: of top five nineties front men with sam grunge names,
- 12:05Speaker 1: so I'll try to be original here. Number one Maynard
- 12:08Speaker 1: James Keenan from Tool, number two, Brad Noell from Sublime,
- 12:11Speaker 1: number three, Less Claypool from Primus, number four, Billy Joe
- 12:14Speaker 1: Armstrong from Green Day, number five, John Popper from Blues Traveler.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Really interesting lists there, so fricking nineties and uh interesting
- 12:24Speaker 1: to me if you look at that list and a
- 12:26Speaker 1: lot of those artists are still going. Tool is still going, Uh,
- 12:29Speaker 1: Primus is still going as far as I know, I
- 12:32Speaker 1: don't think they're completely broken up. Green Day of course
- 12:35Speaker 1: still going. Uh don't know about Blues Traveler, and Sublime
- 12:39Speaker 1: is now still happening with Bradley Nole's Kid from what
- 12:42Speaker 1: I understand. So just wanted to call that out. The
- 12:45Speaker 1: nineties live on and not just on the ankle tattoo
- 12:49Speaker 1: that I've got going on over here that no one
- 12:51Speaker 1: needs to ever see. All right, what else we got here?
- 12:53Speaker 1: Six one, seven, nine oh six sixty six three eight,
- 12:56Speaker 1: hit me up. Let's check out some voicemails and text
- 12:58Speaker 1: from you guys. All right, I'll have the same question
- 13:01Speaker 1: of favorite frontman from the nineties. The five three to
- 13:06Speaker 1: zero rights in being a teen in the early nineties.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It'd be too easy to pick some grunge singers, so
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'll take a different route, even though some of these
- 13:13Speaker 1: singers also released album in the eighties. Lucinda Williams so
- 13:16Speaker 1: underrated and underappreciated. That's number one. David Lowry Cracker Camper
- 13:20Speaker 1: van Beethoven. Number three, Jeremy enoch Is Sunny Day Real
- 13:24Speaker 1: Estate for Blake Schwarzenbach of Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Not the cleanest or pretty, but he made his mark
- 13:30Speaker 1: and influence so many and number five Als Snaros of
- 13:34Speaker 1: Sleep and om. His voice compliments the heavy and moody
- 13:37Speaker 1: tunes so well. Keep up this stellar work, per usual.
- 13:40Speaker 1: That is an incredible list. Incredible and I've seen a
- 13:45Speaker 1: bunch of those artists played with some of those artists
- 13:47Speaker 1: in my former life. I saw Lucinda Williams saw Greatly
- 13:53Speaker 1: Send to Williams show at the Grand Old Aubry, which
- 13:56Speaker 1: is incredible, played with David Lowry from Cracker Camp. Pro
- 14:00Speaker 1: Van Beethoven saw Sunny Day Real Estate's first show ever
- 14:04Speaker 1: in Boston at Bill's Bar opening up. Four oh man?
- 14:09Speaker 1: What was that band ever? Clear Blake Schwarzenbach of Jawbreaker
- 14:14Speaker 1: and Jets to Brazil. I've never seen either? Can you
- 14:17Speaker 1: believe that? I can't? And never saw a sleep either.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So but great list. Great list of those five who
- 14:23Speaker 1: send to David Lowry, Jeremy Enoch, Blake and al. I'm
- 14:27Speaker 1: putting Listenda right right where you got her, right at
- 14:30Speaker 1: the top of the list. Awesome list. All right, let's
- 14:32Speaker 1: keep going here. What else we got? Got this message
- 14:35Speaker 1: from the rain Man in six' five to, one writes,
- 14:37Speaker 1: In hey Rain man from the five oh Seven excuse,
- 14:40Speaker 1: me it's from a sixty five to one, number but

- 16:05Speaker 1: where there's just a gazillion bands on the, bill and
- 16:09Speaker 1: backstage there was no real. Backstage it was a day
- 16:11Speaker 1: show and you just kind of get done, playing and
- 16:14Speaker 1: backstage was sort of outside in the backyard area of The.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Continental AND i just walked outside and there's a little

- 16:24Speaker 1: know everyone's kind of day drunk. Itself By. Southwest this,
- 16:27Speaker 1: was by the, way probably twenty years, ago and we

- 16:44Speaker 1: amp and someone handed me a joint and it Was Jello,
- 16:48Speaker 1: biafra and SO i just took a hit AND i
- 16:52Speaker 1: handed it to the dude next to, me and it
- 16:53Speaker 1: Was Mojo. Nixon AND i just stayed there for a
- 16:56Speaker 1: couple of minutes and got. High with those dudes left
- 16:59Speaker 1: AND i caught the most, serious, baddest, hardest most dangerous

- 18:18Speaker 1: a lot more engagement going, on AND i want to
- 18:22Speaker 1: find a way to formalize these, suggestions maybe do some
- 18:25Speaker 1: sort of, ranking and maybe do some sort of thing
- 18:27Speaker 1: where we can get to get to the suggestions a
- 18:31Speaker 1: little bit more quickly in our production. SCHEDULE i don't.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Know i'm gonna think on, that all, Right i'm gonna
- 18:36Speaker 1: think on. That i'll be back to you with, it
- 18:37Speaker 1: but keep the suggestions. Coming in the, Meantime let's check
- 18:39Speaker 1: out some. Voicemails what do we got? Here all? Right
- 18:42Speaker 1: let's check out this voicemail from the five to seven.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Three, hey, everybody you say me from the five seven,
- 18:46Speaker 3: three Say, JAKE i was, wondering all. Right So i'm
- 18:50Speaker 3: one of the original original sequence. FANS i do believe
- 18:54Speaker 3: the first ONE i was turned onto a Gg allen.
- 18:58Speaker 3: One my buddy's a HUGE gg Or i'm a Ucg
- 19:00Speaker 3: allen fan Of my buddy had already known about your
- 19:03Speaker 3: podcast to turn me onto, it, Right So i've been
- 19:05Speaker 3: listening it since, then and that was twenty. EIGHTEEN i
- 19:08Speaker 3: BELIEVE i believe my math is, correct but as a
- 19:11Speaker 3: long time. Listener i've noticed that you have you're addressing
- 19:14Speaker 3: a much larger. Audience you've had an, uptick AND i
- 19:17Speaker 3: was wondering what caused, that or when did you realize
- 19:20Speaker 3: that you needed to cater to the. Newcomers is it
- 19:24Speaker 3: because they kept asking for episodes on ticking you already
- 19:28Speaker 3: covered or. OTHERWISE i knew this was going to take
- 19:31Speaker 3: off from the very. Beginning this is an amazing concept
- 19:35Speaker 3: and you're doing it. Wonderfully AND, i for, one thank you.
- 19:38Speaker 1: All right five seven? Three good, uh thanks for the.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Message good. Question i'd pushed back a little on the
- 19:45Speaker 1: on the notion THAT i cater to new. FANS i
- 19:50Speaker 1: definitely try to make everyone feel, welcome for, sure new.
- 19:53Speaker 1: FANS i can tell when people come. In when we
- 19:56Speaker 1: get an influx of new. Listeners right, now that's happening
- 20:00Speaker 1: in part because of our efforts over On, instagram and
- 20:03Speaker 1: we've been releasing these these sixty second videos that are
- 20:07Speaker 1: just sort of like we're extracting these little anecdotes from
- 20:11Speaker 1: the episodes and producing them in video format and again
- 20:14Speaker 1: like really really micro version sixty second ninety second, videos
- 20:19Speaker 1: and that's that's caught on and then that of course
- 20:22Speaker 1: grows the podcast somewhat, so BUT i DON'T i don't
- 20:27Speaker 1: we don't address or try to address a larger. AUDIENCE
- 20:33Speaker 1: i will always dip into my personal, taste Gg allen
- 20:38Speaker 1: being being one of, them and just things that interest.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Me But i'm also interested And i've been this way
- 20:44Speaker 1: my whole, life even going back to the first two
- 20:47Speaker 1: seasons Of disgraceland and way before that WHEN i was
- 20:49Speaker 1: a little, kid And i've talked about it here. Before
- 20:50Speaker 1: i've been interested in all types of artists. Artists excuse,
- 20:53Speaker 1: me SOMETIMES i go way out of my comfort. Zone,
- 20:56Speaker 1: though to your, Point Mariah, Carey i'm not very interested
- 20:59Speaker 1: In Mariah, carey BUT i am. INTERESTED i was, interested
- 21:02Speaker 1: And Mariah carey's sort, of you, know her Whole christmas
- 21:06Speaker 1: queen thing that she has going, on so it seemed, like,
- 21:08Speaker 1: okay you know, thematically let's do that Around christmas. Time
- 21:12Speaker 1: there's plenty of other obscure artists That i'm not into
- 21:15Speaker 1: or not interested.
- 21:16Speaker 3: In that that we.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Cover New order being one of those that was, heavily
- 21:20Speaker 1: heavily requested by the. Audience and one thing we are changing,
- 21:25Speaker 1: though and this is because it befits authentically my interests
- 21:29Speaker 1: that go beyond. Music you, know we've had this sort
- 21:31Speaker 1: of Bad lands feed that was. Happening we fucked with
- 21:35Speaker 1: The sportsland thing for a. While so Obviously i'm interested in.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Film i'm interested in film, History hollywood. History i'm interested in,
- 21:41Speaker 1: sports a huge sports. Fan but my interests go even beyond,
- 21:46Speaker 1: Sports hollywood and. Music i'm interested in interesting people and
- 21:50Speaker 1: the dark, stories specifically the dark stories that surround them
- 21:55Speaker 1: and what they have to fight, through the disgrace that
- 21:58Speaker 1: they have to move themselves and the people around them
- 22:02Speaker 1: through to make it out the other. Side it creates
- 22:05Speaker 1: these incredibly dramatic. Stories And i've been interested in this
- 22:09Speaker 1: my whole. Life it's been my interest in historical. Fiction
- 22:12Speaker 1: it's been my interest and the authors That i've, read
- 22:15Speaker 1: the poets That i've, read the artists That i've responded,
- 22:20Speaker 1: To and you're going to see over the coming weeks
- 22:24Speaker 1: months this year that we're going to start to sprinkle
- 22:28Speaker 1: in those stories with The Ggi, allens with The, blondies
- 22:31Speaker 1: with The New, orders and we're going to have a
- 22:33Speaker 1: much more robust experience here In. Disgraceland because it's occurred
- 22:39Speaker 1: to me over the last five years That disgraceland is
- 22:41Speaker 1: not just about. Music it's about the, disgrace and it's
- 22:45Speaker 1: about these interesting characters and these dark stories and what
- 22:48Speaker 1: we can learn from these stories and how we can
- 22:50Speaker 1: be entertained by. Them AND i don't think that everything
- 22:53Speaker 1: has to be an after school. SPECIAL i don't think
- 22:54Speaker 1: that everything has to be this SERIOUS npr type of.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Storytelling this shit is. Entertaining it's, fun and it's gonna
- 23:00Speaker 1: stay that, way whether we're talking about Gg, Allen, Blondie Anthony,
- 23:04Speaker 1: Bourdain Elon, Musk, Picasso, Basquot. Picket, okay we're gonna get into,
- 23:11Speaker 1: it And i'm gonna find a way to continue to
- 23:13Speaker 1: give you guys what you, want be it on the
- 23:15Speaker 1: obscure side or on the bigger. Side does that answer your?
- 23:20Speaker 1: Question kind of answers my question Because i'm this stuff
- 23:22Speaker 1: is in my, head as you can, tell And i'm
- 23:25Speaker 1: trying to figure it out here in real. Time thanks
- 23:27Speaker 1: for the. Support if you get someone you want to
- 23:29Speaker 1: hear besides you, know someone in the Gg Allen vain
- 23:32Speaker 1: or perhaps someone, else call back let me, know all,
- 23:35Speaker 1: Right and that goes for the rest of you. Too

- 26:13Speaker 1: i love the history. Of disco and, YOU know i
- 26:17Speaker 1: know people hate disco the, you know the classic, rock
- 26:21Speaker 1: guys the punk, rock guys some of the. MANY ways
- 26:23Speaker 1: i don't want, to generalize but, you know disco was
- 26:28Speaker 1: and is and remains one of the most subversive styles of.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Music ever and its history. Is fascinating where it, comes
- 26:37Speaker 1: from where it, came from how it got to where,
- 26:39Speaker 1: it was how it completely took over. Pop music and
- 26:43Speaker 1: there is great disco Even and i'm not just talking
- 26:47Speaker 1: About The giorgio moroder. Obscure stuff i'm talking about the
- 26:51Speaker 1: hits that beg stuff you can't fuck with it in, a,
- 26:54Speaker 1: vacuum objectively. Just, Incredible okay so that's my bit. ON
- 26:59Speaker 1: disco i want it to a little bit about what's
- 27:00Speaker 1: coming to you guys. Next week That's The anthony. Bourdaine.
- 27:03Speaker 1: EPISODE okay i haven't been this excited about an episode
- 27:07Speaker 1: in a long. LONG time i wrote my heart out for.
- 27:11Speaker 1: THIS one i left fucking blood on, the desk, not,
- 27:16Speaker 1: literally figuratively you're going to be into. THIS though, I hope.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I hope this is a massive subject. FOR me i
- 27:23Speaker 1: think it's a big subject for you guys. As well
- 27:25Speaker 1: i'm A Huge anthony, bourdain fan and there's so. Much
- 27:28Speaker 1: here there's so much to, his story and so much
- 27:30Speaker 1: of it was. Already public it was very challenging to
- 27:33Speaker 1: find a unique lane into this storytelling to give you
- 27:36Speaker 1: guys something new. And FRESH and i really hope that we.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Did that i'm pumped for you to. HEAR it i
- 27:42Speaker 1: want to talk a little bit, about obviously his girlfriend
- 27:46Speaker 1: there at, The End agio argento is a huge part of.
- 27:49Speaker 1: This episode she could not not be but it just
- 27:53Speaker 1: got me sort of going back through her history a
- 27:56Speaker 1: little bit from a. Creative PERSPECTIVE and i watched that
- 27:58Speaker 1: able for our film a DIRECTOR who i, really LIKE
- 28:02Speaker 1: and I watched i Watched The agio argento Film With
- 28:06Speaker 1: william Dafoe and christopher walk And Called New, rose hotel
- 28:11Speaker 1: AND then i did a little digging on that film
- 28:14Speaker 1: because that FILM is i don't know what the actual
- 28:17Speaker 1: definition of, erotica IS but i know what the definition of,
- 28:20Speaker 1: pornography is and it's, you know it's somewhere around both.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Of those not. Quite porn it might. Be erotica it's
- 28:31Speaker 1: not a. Great film it looks like a. Great film
- 28:33Speaker 1: it sounds like a. Great FILM and i know many
- 28:35Speaker 1: of you out there are going to your hair is
- 28:37Speaker 1: going to light on fire when you hear me say
- 28:39Speaker 1: that it's not a. Great film but, just objectively. It's
- 28:42Speaker 1: not if you're looking to, Get off if you're looking
- 28:44Speaker 1: for something hot to get you stoked, or whatever, then
- 28:47Speaker 1: yeah this. Is it it's. Incredibly HOT but, i wonder,
- 28:52Speaker 1: YOU know i WAS before i get to the. WONDER
- 28:55Speaker 1: part i was reading a little bit about the history
- 28:57Speaker 1: of it and how they were trying to cast a
- 28:59Speaker 1: woman in the eye our gentle role and the role that,
- 29:02Speaker 1: she got, Excuse me and they had all these different
- 29:05Speaker 1: women that came in, and read and then she came
- 29:08Speaker 1: in and she kind of just, you know the role
- 29:12Speaker 1: she plays is of this this very powerful sex worker
- 29:17Speaker 1: who has a lot of control and command over, the
- 29:21Speaker 1: men seemingly more powerful men in. Her LIFE and i
- 29:26Speaker 1: read this quote from somebody who was on the, film
- 29:29Speaker 1: set and so that's basically who she was in. Real
- 29:31Speaker 1: life and this Is, pre boordain by, the way, this
- 29:33Speaker 1: quote she kind of came in and just kind of,
- 29:36Speaker 1: Controlled Everybody willem, defoe included and just kind of had
- 29:39Speaker 1: her way, with them which was fascinating. To read and
- 29:43Speaker 1: in the context Of The anthony bourdain EPISODE that i
- 29:47Speaker 1: just wrote that you're gonna hear, next week this film
- 29:50Speaker 1: is really really compelling, and INTERESTING so i encourage you
- 29:54Speaker 1: to seek. It out It's Called New. Rose, hotel again
- 29:58Speaker 1: not a, great film but it will end. Entertain you and,
- 30:02Speaker 1: you know it's fucking charismatic movie stars doing charismatic movie,
- 30:06Speaker 1: star shit so you can't really go wrong even if
- 30:08Speaker 1: it's if it's not the. Greatest storytelling if You, got
- 30:11Speaker 1: criterion it's on. That App but i'm sure you can
- 30:13Speaker 1: find It on apple. And ELSEWHERE and i think Able
- 30:16Speaker 1: fer ours films are some of them are. On YouTube
