- 0:20A man is dead after being struck by a train in
- 0:23Elk Grove Thursday afternoon. Elk Grove police
- 0:25say the 46 -year -old man walked onto the railroad
- 0:28track shortly after 1 o 'clock. While the crossing
- 0:31arms were down and warning lights were activated,
- 0:33he was struck and killed by the train. Bond Road,
- 0:36east of Elk Grove -Floren Road, was closed in
- 0:39both directions for about an hour while authorities
- 0:41investigated. Sacramento County deputies say
- 0:46a stolen car pursuit Wednesday ended with two
- 0:49arrests and the safe recovery of a dog that had
- 0:51been stolen inside the vehicle while it was being
- 0:55stolen. Deputies were alerted to the stolen green
- 1:01Toyota Corolla traveling along Elkhorn Boulevard.
- 1:04The car had been reported stolen from the Auburn
- 1:07area the day before. Deputies say the woman was
- 1:11initially driving. But when they attempted the
- 1:13traffic stop, the occupants switched seats and
- 1:16a 38 -year -old David Brocker took over behind
- 1:21the wheel. Investigators say Brocker reached
- 1:23speeds of about 95 miles per hour, repeatedly
- 1:26drove into oncoming traffic, and at one point
- 1:29accelerated toward a California Highway Patrol
- 1:32officer. The deputy used his patrol car to strike
- 1:35the stolen Corolla, preventing it from hitting
- 1:38the CHP officer. The pursuit continued onto Madison
- 1:42Avenue and Auburn Boulevard, where deputies used
- 1:45a pit maneuver. Authorities say Brocker then
- 1:49reversed into a civilian vehicle before deputies
- 1:52were able to block him in. Brocker allegedly
- 1:55ran from the car, but was quickly apprehended
- 1:57with the help from the Sacramento Police K -9
- 1:59Buster. The passenger was identified as 19 -year
- 2:04-old Giovanna Ibarra and was taken into custody
- 2:09as well. Both were treated at the hospital before
- 2:12booking. And in some very good news, at the end
- 2:16of it all, deputies found the victim's stolen
- 2:18dog inside the Corolla unharmed. Brocker faces
