Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans welcome in to do wall daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee, best coffee in town.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: So right now we are getting into a 53-man roster prediction, hinted at this yesterday when we did the news about Keith Taylor and Ryan O'Hallerin shared that
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Keith Taylor, who the Jaguars had to place on injured reserve, tore a pectoral muscle during weightlifting.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that is what ended up happening with him, and a peck can take a while to heal, so we'll see how that ends up playing out for him.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: My best guess was probably an injury settlement, but that is just speculating down the road.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: That, that news interrupted my 53-man roster prediction that I was going to drop yesterday, but now we've got it for this morning.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to get into it.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all be in here.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, let me know.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you can drop your 53-man roster prediction in the comments section below, or just, you know, let me know your spicyest take, maybe about the 53-man roster.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: And you can also check out jingjag.com, pick up some new dooval gear like the hat I am wearing.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: right now.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: So looking at this 53-man roster, we'll start off with not offense, not defense, but special teams because that's the least controversial place to start.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, you've got Logan Cook at Punner, Cam Little at Kicker, Ross Madison, got long snapper.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think each of them is like,
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: all pro caliber at their best, which is great.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you're in a good spot there in here.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well coached by Heath Farwell, obviously on special teams, you also have a bunch of guys throughout the offense and defense that can contribute at a high level on special teams as well.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: So they're in a good spot, special teams-wise, then we will shift over to the offense.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: quarterback.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence, Nick Mullins.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you're going to upset the apple card here with the quarterback room.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence is obviously here starting quarterback.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Mullins to me going into the final year of a deal he signed last year.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's the backup quarterback in the NFL has so much more than just like, you know, okay, when when the starter gets injured, this guy's going in, they have to be a
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: a really good part of that quarterback room and on the practice field and all that stuff and I think that's why Nick Mullins is here.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly think if, you know, the Jaguars had to put a quarterback in, you know, and to start multiple games, Nick Mullins might not be that guy.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like you saw in Minnesota when Nick Mullins was there,
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: they pursued other talent to try to get them through stretches of games, but they still have Nick Mullins around because they like having him in the building.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's the same situation here.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying for sure that the Jaguars wouldn't start Nick Mullins if they needed to start a backup quarterback, but it wouldn't surprise me if, you know, Lawrence had to miss multiple games if they went out and found someone else while also keeping Nick Mullins around.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: the wider-sever spot.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: I've got five wider-severs, five guys.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: Making the team, shout out.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers, Parker Washington, Brian Thomas, Jr. C. J. Williams, Josh Cameron.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: That obviously does not include Travis Hunter, who I am placing at the corner back position, just for a roster breakdown.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's somebody who can play two positions, but he only takes up one roster spot, right?
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I've got them keeping five plus Travis Hunter.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Technically six, but
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to put Travis Hunter at both spots when you're constructing a 53-man roster.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jacobi Parker, BTJ, or obvious CJ Williams, rookie out of Stanford, who, to me, he looks like really good feet, consistent hands where he's supposed to be when he's supposed to be there decent size.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron brings a lot to the table, you know, put her turning, get the ball in his hands,
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: kind of turns into a running back with the ball in his hands, I don't know that Josh Cameron definitely takes over as part or turner for Parker Washington, but you could understand the rationale if the Jag war is want to take Parker Washington off special teams.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: I have a hard time doing that just because he might have been the best returner in football last year, so I don't know.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Running back, I've got three.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez, Baselton, Liquan Allen.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is one of the positions where could they keep more.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they could keep four guys.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: I just think three makes the most sense.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, I mean, maybe Jamari Taylor fights his way onto the team.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a DJ Dallas or a Amirabdulla are just too valuable as as returners to get rid of, but I look at this and I think three makes the most sense.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's four.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Tadent, I've got four.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: My day keep five, you know.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they've got five guys shout out again not a sponsor.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: They've got five guys here that could make sense for their roster Britain strange lock, Nate Borgerture lock Think Quint Morris is a lock Containers cozyals got to be a lock like I don't think they're cutting a fifth round pick Especially not one that Such a productive receiver
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's shown his receiving chops already with the jags.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my four, but that excludes on our long, which I know they like on our long around here, but that's my best guess at this point.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that 12 personnel is going to be way more common than 13 personnel.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if they
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: If they have an injury at the position, and I mean, if they have an injury at the position, they'll bring someone at maybe bring hunter along back, maybe hunter along, you're able to keep on the practice squad.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but if there is an injury at the position,
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: You bring someone in, obviously, but you also have the ability, if you want to get into 13, to also have one of your guys that you utilized last year as a six offensive lineman, like Wyatt Milum, if he's not starting games, he could potentially be your third tight end in that situation or six offensive lineman, whatever you want to call it there.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: So they've got other options, certainly.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: But that's where we're at, where I'm at, for offensive line nine.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison, Colvin, Land and Robert Hainesy, Ezra Cleveland, Patrick McCary, that you're starting line up as of right now.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: Then you've got why at my lemon manual, Pregnant, Jonah, Mon, I'm Walker, little.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: That excludes Tuma, Doga.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: They also went and signed,
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Tristan Cologne yesterday who has a lot of experience in the league and has experience with Jaguar's Quarter-Excoge Spencer Whipple, so they brought him in for a reason, but I think it's an uphill battle at this point for him to make the team.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't mean he can't, it just means it's an uphill battle based on, you know, just timing of everything.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: They could keep ten.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: but I can promise you that they are not keeping 10 offensive linemen five tight ends and four running backs like at least one of those positions is going to be cut short of of where some people would like to see it.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: And again, with wide receiver, technically there are six wide receivers here.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's just one of them I've placed at the corner back spot here for osteo-construction purposes.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: So technically 23 players on offense, but that's plus Travis Hunter.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it's really more like 24, which means 26 players on defense, but from just a pure numbers standpoint here, it's 27 to 23.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: which some people might feel like is too unbalanced, but with Travis Hunter, that changes a lot.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think when I look at the reason I have defense with more, defensive line in my opinion, needs just a little bit more depth than offensive line because you actually rotate, like you're not rotating offensive linemen.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: You need five guys at a time to be effective.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: defensive line in a given game.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you might have seven, eight guys out there, right?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you have seven eight guys out there in a game at offensive line, something has gone terribly wrong.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: defensively, that could just be a standard game.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: So on the defensive line, I have Josh Hines Allen, Trayvon Walker, continuing with the edge group Wesley Williams, Danny Striggo, B.J.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Green.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I've got, which means actor if you didn't make the act of roster.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: I have a hard time thinking that Derf is going to be able to come in as somebody who just is a little raw and beat out BJ Green who has now a year of experience in the system who we know worked his absolute butt off, all that stuff.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: But that could happen, there if you could make it.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Wesley Williams, as a fourth round pick, they traded up for it and going anywhere.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think Danny Striggow is going to be there.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see him going anywhere.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my group at Edge.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then on the interior, you have Eric Garmstadt, Devon Hamilton, as your two starters, Albert Regis and Ruka Rourou as your, you have two backups right there and then also Dickerson.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: could be some competition on the back end of that defensive tackle room, but that's 10 guys right there on the defensive line at linebacker.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: I have six, which maybe that's a little high, but considering they have three legitimate different linebacker positions and one of them is kind of that hybrid edge slash off ball linebacker.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Six makes sense, you know, one starter and one backup at each of those spots, foe Luke in and then his backup as Jack
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Troll Miller, his backup as Branson Combs, Dennis Gardeck, his backup as Jalen McCloud, which means you see Rob Doolas on the outside looking in in this scenario.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Might not be the case, but I like to Jalen McCloud's tape a lot.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: To be honest though, I really like to see Rob Doola coming out of Louisville too.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll just have to see how that plays out.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I put McCloud over Rob Doola really is this regime brought in McCloud, not a Doola.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't mean that they're necessarily going to make the decision that way, but that's where I'm going right now.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: At corner back, I have Travis Hunter, Buster Brown, Jory and Jones, Jordan Lewis, Christian Braswell.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: The sixth is up in the air, I would say, I mean, they just brought him, Dan Jackson, who has a wealth of experience, they...
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: brought in undrafted for agent, Devon Marshall, they brought in a couple other undrafted for agents who have shown themselves well, but to me so far, no one has been more impressive on the back end of the roster at Cornerback, no one's been more impressive than
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Benjamin Muhammad, who was an undrafted free agent last year, who would have been drafted probably reasonably high on day three, or maybe even day two, if he was like two or three inches taller.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: But of course, he's not.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: So he did fall out of the draft and Jaguars were able to get him undrafted for agency and good for them.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's been playing lights out and I thought he played lights out at Oregon in 2024.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: At safety, we've got five guys, I can't stop saying that, I apologize.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: We have five players at safety, we've got five safety's making the team.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson, Eric Murray, Caleb Ransal, Jaylen Husky, Rayon Lane, it's pretty cut and dry.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Antonio Johnson who was a breakout star for the Jaguar's last year, you've got Eric Murray who is a solid veteran in the room, you've got Caleb Ransal who you
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: coming off of injury, but looking good, he got an interception and practice earlier this week.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Husky, you drafted this year in the third round, and then Ray on Lane, who you drafted, I think he was like six round in 2025, and he got experience on the field as a safety, and was really good as a special teamer for them as a kick-covered guy, punk-covered guy as well.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's it for me.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I thought it would be a little bit more difficult to put this 53-man roster together, but I can't make any other arguments really.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of like, maybe a syrup do a look could hold off McLeod, maybe.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Dürfie makes the team.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see much, I'll, one thing here to consider is you do have
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, Colvin, Landon, Jordan Lewis, all coming off of injury.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez isn't practicing right now.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: So if any of those guys have to start the season on IR, then that bumps someone up like, if Colvin and Landon isn't able to start the season, which I don't know that that's likely or unlikely.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Really, we don't really know at this point.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: Other than the fact that the Jaguars have said, they do expect Colvin and Landon Jordan Lewis Travis Hunter back for training camp.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: We really don't know the timeline.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: If Colvin Lannon was forced to miss time, probably you add Chuma Doga to the offensive line.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: If, and you know, maybe Walker Little could get traded if somebody has an injury somewhere around the league at Tackle, that's a possibility too.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to Jordan Lewis, maybe you add a Devon Marshall or a Dane Jack Center somebody to the corner back room if you have to.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: uh... mentioned vandland um... Travis hunter which it would shock me if he's not good to go but again you could add a whiter cver or a corner or maybe
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: have to do both or something like probably one of the other if Travis Hunter took longer than you expected.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: But that one would shock me the most.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's so young.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's moving around well.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: I can't speculate.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think he's going to be I.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: But that's going to do it here.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's my 53-man roster.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know how you feel about it in the comment section below.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
