- 0:11Hello friends, it is Sean. Here it is Tuesday, it is the
- 0:1718th of July. I hope you're going well,
- 0:20because you and I are about to hear a momentous, A brief but
- 0:26momentous chapter as God calls and cleanses this prophet to
- 0:32come and prophesy on his behalf. And he does some epic
- 0:37prophesying and really, really informs so much of what Jesus
- 0:42speaks about and what the New Testament authors write about.
- 0:47As they go about explaining God's plan all along, so let's
- 0:52hear how God calls him out and gets him started in his life of
- 0:56prophecy as we read together Isaiah chapter 6.
- 1:11It was in the year King Uziya died that I saw the Lord.
- 1:16He was sitting on a lofty throne and the train of his robe filled
- 1:21the temple. Attending him were mighty
- 1:24seraphim. Each having six wings.
- 1:27With two they covered their faces, With two they covered
- 1:31their feet, and with two they flew.
- 1:34They were calling out to each other.
- 1:36Holy, holy, Holy is the Lord of Heaven's armies.
- 1:41The whole earth is filled with his glory.
- 1:45Their voices shook the temple to its foundations, and the entire
- 1:49building was filled with smoke. Then I said, it's all over.
- 1:55I'm doomed, for I'm a sinful man.
- 1:57I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips.
- 2:01You know, I've seen the King, the Lord of Heaven's armies.
- 2:06Then one of the Seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had
- 2:10taken from the altar with a pair of tongs.
- 2:13He touched my lips with it and said, see this coal has touched
- 2:18your lips. Now your guilt is removed and
- 2:21your sins are forgiven. Then I heard the Lord asking,
- 2:26Whom should I send as a messenger to this people who
- 2:29will go for us? I said, here I am, send me.
- 2:35And he said, yes, go and say to this people, listen carefully,
- 2:42but do not understand. Watch closely, but learn
- 2:45nothing. Harden the hearts of these
- 2:48people, plug their ears and shut their eyes that way.
- 2:53They will not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears,
- 2:57nor understand with their hearts, and turn to me for
- 3:00healing. Then I said, Lord, how long will
- 3:05this go on? And he replied, until their
- 3:08towns are empty, their houses are deserted, and the whole
- 3:12country is a wasteland, until the Lord has sent everyone away
- 3:18and the entire land of Israel lies deserted.
- 3:23If even a 10th, a remnant survive, it will be invaded
- 3:26again and burned. But as a terabinth or oak tree
- 3:31leaves a stump when it is cut down, so Israel's stump will be
- 3:36a holy seed. Oh Lord, I'm sorry our hearts
- 3:50are so hard. I'm sorry that we find it so
- 3:55hard to turn from. The direction that we're going
- 3:58on, even if it's the wrong direction, and thank you that
- 4:03even when we take ourselves so far down the wrong Rd. that all
- 4:07seems lost. There.
- 4:10You plant a seed there, you make sure that there is something
- 4:15that can draw us back and begin a new growth and a new start.
- 4:22Thank you. That you are a God of new
- 4:23starts. Thank you that you are a God who
- 4:26forgives and it includes us in your mission.
- 4:30What an amazing privilege. We are so grateful for you.
- 4:34We love you, we adore you, and we worship Your Holiness just as
- 4:41those Seraphim did with all their wings.
- 4:44We worship you. And it's in Jesus name that we
- 4:46pray. Amen.
