- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a few things I put together that I feel really good about and, you know, they may be hot takes to some, not hot takes to other, but I'm excited to get into it.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate you all being here.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Just thought on a Friday.

- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully I'm doing that for y'all.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: So getting it kicked off with five hot takes.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think BTJ, Brian Thomas Jr. is who we thought he was, following
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: the 2024 season, which is a stud, I think he is, and I think that he's going to show that this year, and that's not just wishful thinking, that is a combination of things.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: A, we did see 2024, and we also saw 2023, what he did, and it's final year, college, led all of college football and receiving touchdowns, and then we saw what he did in 2024.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: Then,
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: Lot of injuries last year, right?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Dilt with a lot of injuries, dealt with a lot of different things.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the sophomore slump can be a real thing for a player who just wasn't tested as much as a rookie.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think was coached as hard as he could have been by his coaching staff as a rookie.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think a lot of people were in Jacksonville.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: When I say coached as hard, I mean mentally challenged, physically challenged to be the best he can be.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then when he came back from injury last year, he did play a better football.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: He still did make a lot of plays last year.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: I missed a lot of plays too.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, did not come through on some important moments early on in the season specifically, but renewed health going into 2026.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: He is much healthier than he was last year.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: He says, it doesn't hurt to run.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: He is much more mature and focused than he was last year.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about that based on,
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Everything we have heard out of the building, everything we have seen on the practice field and heard from him when he has spoken to the media.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: He feels like a more disciplined, mature professional football player.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great talent.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: The fact that he's six foot three and runs a 4, 3, 4, 3, 4, he can jump out of the gym, has the ability to go make crazy.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, highlight real grabs has the ability to get deep.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that that has not gone anywhere.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: It hasn't.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to have a awesome season.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is going to lead the Jaguars in receiving yards.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: He might lead them in receptions.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's probably more likely that Parker Washington leads the team in receptions.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: But I think BTJ's average depth of target and yards per catch are going to be significantly higher to the point where he is going to lead the team in receiving yards.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Also I think he's going to lead the team in receiving touchdowns.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna have a big, big year.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's where I'm at.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's never looked this focused or this good and put in this much work in the off season.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm fired up about it.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: Talked about Josh Hines down earlier this week is he an elite player and elite edge russia.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: I made the comment that I think he is an elite edge in this league.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he is an elite sack artist.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: at least, I don't think he has shown that consistently enough.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, 17 and a half sacks in a season, a couple years ago, nothing to shake a stick at, but more often you're flirting with the close to 10 range, eight sacks, nine sacks, tens of like, I think he really steps it up this year and shows that he's in a lead, Russia shows that he's in a lead player.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: It clips his double digit sacks by at least a couple and has that type of season that kind of quiets the noise from people.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that no one denies the fact that Josh Hines Allen is a very good player at this point, but I think too many people don't give him credit for being a great player and I think he is that I think he's going to show that this year.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now, one more offensive one, hopefully it's not offensive, but it is on the offensive side of the ball.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think Patrick McCary will get replaced in the starting line up this year.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think he will, and again, maybe not a hot take.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people have talked about that.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's drafted my little last year.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: They drafted a manual, a pregnant on this year.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: And he's been impressing this coaching staff.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: I've been working more at left guard, but I think you need to get him cross-trained up at right guard, why am I going to play right guard too?
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: I need McCary to play a lot better if he's going to stay in that starting line up.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: And he was playing through injury last year too.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: But I think his career body of work does
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: suggest that he could get replaced by players like myelum and pregnant.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's where I'm at.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown, switched into the defensive side of the ball.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think Buster Brown makes the probe ball.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe first team or second team all pro.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that's just based off, like I'm not sitting here and telling you, I think he's going to be
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: a top five corner in the league, like if you were doing a corner back draft, right?
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying he would be a top five, we're going to top ten corner.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think his experience in this system, his work ethic and focus and the way he is able to play zone defense is going to lead to a big year of production.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, the Jaguar is last year they had.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Five interceptions from Devin Lloyd, the had five interceptions from Antonio Johnson.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Buster Brown has absolutely could pick off five passes.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that is, last year Buster Brown was playing opposite Greg Newsom a lot of the year.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: This year, he made playing opposite Travis Hunter a lot of the year if all goes to according to plan.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think teams are going to be targeting Travis Hunter all that much because he's going to make him pay when they do, and that's going to lead to team's targeting Buster Brown feeling like this is the side of the field we got to go to.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: You target Buster Brown a lot.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get his hands on the football in this zone defense.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm pretty confident in that that Buster Brown's going to produce, he's going to put up numbers.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he put up numbers last year too.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: If he just got his hands on, like if he got a couple more interceptions, he probably could have been a proble or last year.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: He had two interceptions and nine pass breakups.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: And played the run, played physical, did everything you could ask really in my mind.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think that a couple more interceptions, two, three more interceptions, and he's a proble player.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, to make the proble is a corner you got to have the numbers.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited about seeing Buster Brown this year.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: And finally, I think the Jaguars have a top five defense on their hands.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are going to be really dang good this year.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Part of my belief in the defense is the corner back play.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think Monterey Brown, Travis Hunter out there,
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: is a really good group at corner.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: I really love foe, Luke, and ventral miller that combination.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think Trayvon Walker, Eric Armstead, Josh Heinz Allen, obviously Devon Hamilton is your big run stuff for up front, plus some of the depth they've created through the draft and undrafted for agency up front.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: I like it, and I love the safety group.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson, I still think he's getting underrated by a lot of folks.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think Eric Murray has always been underrated.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I love Ransal.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jaylin Husky can bring it, excuse me, bring it as well.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Anthony Camponele is a brilliant defensive skimmer.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: And he actually now has the pieces in place.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: to run his scheme at the highest level.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like he is a, he likes to play a lot of off zone coverage.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: He likes to mix up the picture post snap with the second and third level defenders in the middle of the field.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's like the linebackers and safeties.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: And he likes to show you a lot of different stuff up front on the defensive line.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: at the line of scrimmage and mix it all up and it's not mixing it all up for the sake of mixing it up.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's intentional.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's purposeful.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I just think they've got the goods.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: When you have two really good adressors, you have, I think Travis Hunter is going to be a superstar corner and good pieces everywhere else, including an excellent leader and excellent
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: And look, I'm probably going to make a whole video about Eric Armstead because I think he deserves it.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: He was playing lights out before he got injured last year.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: and he battled through the injury.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm pretty darn bullish on the jacks this year.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Feel good about these hot takes.
