- 0:00SPEAKER_00: This is Let's Wine with Brendan Stacy, and this is Brendan Stacy.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: We are doing an episode on games today only because I had a dream about Connect 4.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Well, tell us about the dream.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: What the hell?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: There's I don't even know who I was playing with.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: It might have been a scenario where I was running from side to side playing with myself.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And I don't know who won either.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Do you know how to play Connect 4 with yourself?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Well, you were an only child.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Did you play games like that with yourself?
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I played them with my mom.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: She was a big game player, so we had a lot of board games.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And you know, stuff that you bought in the store and you know, a closet full of games.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: And so in your dream, you're just playing Connect 4.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm playing Connect 4 trying to win.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Alone.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Alone.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: And I wake up like we need to do a podcast on games.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: I think we do.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Games are nostalgic.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: They have been through our children's lives.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Even in my adult life, I still like games, and I have some of those written down that, you know, I want to talk about in some scenarios, you know, with these games that we've been in that I think is extra funny.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: You know, it's funny how playing games and actually spending time like face to face with people, it makes memories that no video game's ever gonna make.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: We're never gonna remember when somebody blew up whatever.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: But we're gonna remember how playing a game with our family made us feel.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: And those memories where we laughed or we cut up or somebody said something so ridiculous.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: That stressed you out.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that you can't get it out of your head.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: So I think they're going away.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: It's another thing that's probably gonna end.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: But they're still worthy of playing, spending time doing.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: I love games and sitting around a table playing games.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: I mean I do too.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: When we were doing puzzles, even though it stressed me out to no end.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I enjoyed it.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I loved it when it was finished.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: It felt like, oh, we all accomplished something.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: We all spent time doing it.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Just all of us adults that came through the house, you know, when we were doing them.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: It was fun.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Well, I made a list.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Well, okay, throw it in reverse.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: There was actually a game that I looked up today.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: It was Adam's Family Values, and it's not on my list since um that was one that was bought for my kids, and I played it with them.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And I noticed it's going up for like 50 bucks now.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And I think I bought it at Walmart for like$7.99.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Back in the early 90s, maybe.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So those nostalgic games are coming back to Yeah.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Camille, look at the copyright date on that deal.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: You're like, I know.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Well, do you want me to hit my list or do you want to hit yours?
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Let's hit your list and let's let's uh talk about some of the things on your list.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: And some of the things I probably never played because I Rosary's the only child.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: What do I do?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: These are all games that I did play.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: These are ones that existed either in my home or at my friend Lisa's house down the street.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: All right, Trouble.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Did you ever play Trouble?
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I remember Trouble, but I I don't have any standards.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: It's got the little pop thing in the middle.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: You press it for the little die in there.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: But that's the most boring game on the planet.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I don't like games that just run around.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: I like Hungry Hippo.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's on my list.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Hungry, hungry hippos.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I like that one.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: There's just no mental thing to it.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: No.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: No, not at all.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Hitting a button and sucking them in.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Did you play the game of life?
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: I hated life.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: I hated life when I was younger.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: I hated life when no.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: That's how I feel about Monopoly.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Uh Monopoly and life.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: No, those are long and they're boring and you gotta study too much and count them.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, you just it's to me you had to think way too much to enjoy.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: I usually like games that you have to think.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: It's not like you're figuring it out.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: It's still a game of luck.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: As far as, you know, rolling dice.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Or I like Clue.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: That's on my list.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Love Clue.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Because I want to know who did it with what in what room.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Because I'm nosy, peeping around corners.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: I could see you liking Clue.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Loved it.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: But that's another one I don't like.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: That's another one like trouble.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: You're just running around to get back to where you started from.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: To get to the end.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: No, those make no sense to me.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: That ranks up there with Candyland.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I didn't like Candyland.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Did I like anything?
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: No.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I guess you didn't like what about Operation?
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: I loved Operation because that was so easy to play by yourself.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Did you stretch out at all?
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: I don't think so.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Not when I was younger.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: I bought that for my kids, you know how they bring some of the stuff back.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I remember getting that for them when they were older and us kind of playing it to just show them like this is what games were like when I was little.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: This is how I entertained myself.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: There wasn't a big huge 42-inch TV with a game hooked up to it.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: So you know what games stressed me out to no end?
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: What?
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: I think I ended up flinging it outside perfection.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Do you remember that one?
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Because there was a timer on it where you push down the middle thing and you would try and get all those little shapes in the.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: If I didn't do, I don't know.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: I would stress like the last 10 seconds.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this isn't fun.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: This is pissing me off.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're so stressed to make it happen.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: I didn't like it.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Didn't like it.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: All right, well, connect force, shoots and ladders.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's another boring one.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: And I'm thinking of all the games in the closet, and I don't know if my mom really liked these or not, or they were just there.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, mastermind.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I love that one.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Tell me what that one is.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: That one is it's a brown board, and there's little pegs, and somebody has the hidden area and they put their pegs different colors in a line.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Or you're blowing up the ships?
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: No, that's battleship.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this one you're guessing the order of the colors.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I didn't, I didn't I didn't play that.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: It's kind of almost like Wordle, but with colors instead of words.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know what Wordle is either.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: That's the one Camille and I play every day.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Every day.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Every day.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: That's funny.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: That's how she knows I'm alive.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Have to do the Wordle.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, Twister.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: That was more of a slumber party game.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna get into slumber party games, but that was, I guess, kind of fun.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: And I always did well because I'm tall.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: So I could reach those dots.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: You could reach.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: I could reach them with this long leg, just fling it over to the corner.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: And beyond.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: I uh remember playing Twister, but not that often and it wasn't my favorite.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, like that was one of those games if there was a cute boy that you liked and he was and he was at the party.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: You want to play Twister then because you want to slide up under it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: You wanted to see, yeah, if you could get close to him and smell nasty teenage boys.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: So you were making up dots that weren't there.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: There's no purple.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: What the hell they ain't?
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I'm putting my leg right here.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: I can remember funny.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: I'm sure you did climb it on people.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe for Twister.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, I was playing a game.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I had to win.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: The cry said, You don't have to arch your back to reach that one.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: What's that back bend you just threw yourself into?
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: No.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Well, did you want to do you want me to go ahead and jump into Slimmer Party games?
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: No, well, let's go ahead.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Did you do Bloody Mary?
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Is that the one where you look in the mirror and say it three times?
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: I've done that, but nothing happened, to be honest.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Well, you probably didn't do it right.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: When we used to play, you have to be in a perfectly dark room, like a bathroom, and you put a towel under the door, light out, there can be no source of light at all.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: You spin around the three times and say bloody Mary, bloody.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: See, I'm getting nervous talking about it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Because I think it'll happen.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: A spiral staircase is supposed to appear in the mirror.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Bloody Mary will start to come down the staircase in her bloody wedding gown.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: And if she makes it to the bottom, she'll come out of the mirror and get you.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So you had to get out of the bathroom?
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: You gotta get out of the bathroom.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, before she made it to the bottom.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: And I was too scared.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I was too scared to stay in there.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I was probably just in panic mode, young and stupid.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And believing in that kind of stuff a little bit.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: You know, that ranks up there with Candyman.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna say it five times.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: I won't even say it five times sitting here.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: So don't do it.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I won't.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Because he'll come get you.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: I don't want that.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: I don't have time for that to happen.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: What about the light as a feather stiff as a board?
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: I don't know what that is.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: That's where you have somebody lie in the middle and they put two fingers under everybody and just say light as a feather, stiff as a board.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And you're supposed to be able to levitate them with your fingers.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: How'd that work out?
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Do you remember?
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: No.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: I don't think we ever did it.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Or somebody was bowing in the middle, maybe to make it seem like they were lifting up.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: It's like that's just your head and feet.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: And then there was mirror, mirror, mirror, where you'd have three mirrors and you'd put them in a triangle so it was like infinity.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: And you're supposed to be able to say something.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: I can't even remember the poem now.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Like see your future in there and how you're gonna die and all those different No, I think your friends are way weirder than my friends.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, telephone.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I know you played telephone.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Where you get in a circle and you say something crazy and it's like everybody wrote the word and then they see how it is to the is that you play telephone?
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: You can either add the word or you're supposed to really say what was said initially to see how much it changes.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Oh okay.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And you know people change up stories.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: We can't keep nothing stripped.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Now this is one that I never played at a slumber party.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: It came later, and I even had Lily do it with me when I was at Lake Howard.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Sorry, Glenda, the elevator game.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: You see, I didn't know anybody that lived in an apartment high enough.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: The one where you go up and down the elevator.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: And you peep out.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And if somebody gets on the elevator with you, a woman, you're not supposed to make eye contact or interact with them.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: I know it's a big thing.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: If you look it up, you're supposed to go to the fourth floor, down to the second, up to the sixth, back down to the second, up to the tenth, down to the fifth.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: The doors are open and somebody is supposed to get in there with you.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I know, and you don't interact with them.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Once you press one, you go back down to the floor and then you exit and don't talk to anybody or anything.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: But if you start going up and the doors open, you're supposed to be in another dimension.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Lily kind of freaked out on me when we were doing it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I don't think we got to finish it because you know, old people are rolling in with their wheelchairs, like, damn it! Yeah.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: You know, you try and hit it at a time.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: She happened to be volunteering there.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I'm like, come on, let's go do it.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: And we had 11 floors there so we could ride the elevator up and down, and I don't think we ever got to finish it.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Hope it was your lunch hour.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Glenda, if you're listening.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: It was your lunch hour, right?
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, I think it was, in all honesty, just because I was hoping all the residents were in there eating so they wouldn't be hogging up the elevator.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: So we could do it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: No, I've never heard of the elevator game.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Girl, there's a movie you're gonna watch.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: I think it's the Cecil Hotel.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: That girl came up missing, and the video footage looks like her playing the elevator game.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: But they found her in the water tower on the roof.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I hadn't.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: That's a real thing.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I promise.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I promise.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: The elevator game?
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: The elevator game and the Cecil Hotel.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: And that poor girl missing.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: I'll go off on a tangent.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: What were your favorite video games?
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Like if you had to pick one between like back in our day, seeing on the Atari.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: Miss Pac-Man.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: I had an Atari 2600 and I got that I think in like fifth or sixth grade.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: My mom went to a yard sale and got a bunch of the cartridges.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: So I had Pit Fawn, Laser Blast, Frogger.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: I love Frogger.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Centipede Pinball, Centipede.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: And um, I think Pac-Man was probably among my most favorite.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Like if I went to an arcade, I'd want to play Pac-Man.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Also, I wanted to have another quarter.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: A pinball phase.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Probably because my grandmother owned the restaurant and it had a pinball machine in it, and so I got all the quarters I wanted to play.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, how neat.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: I did love that.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: I really, really did love that.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Pictionary back in the day was fun.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: It was fun to play with kids and it was fun to play with adults.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: So Pictionary, I don't think it's like it used to be anymore, unfortunately.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I have the old version where you pull out a card and the little pads where you draw.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Is it here?
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: It is here.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: And I love it.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: So we're drawing dirty pictures.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Of course, as an adult, drinking games.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: I was thinking if we did it to the word like when we're watching um 90 Day Fiance, we'd be toast.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: We're always saying this should be a drinking game.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: This should be a drinking game.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: When we watched it, we wouldn't make it through 15 minutes on her.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: No, we wouldn't.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: I know, but I love drinking games, you know, participating and all that stuff.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: It's fun.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: I don't want to play beer pong.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: No, I I've played that before, and I don't like that the beer gets warm.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: But it gets hot and there's a dirty old ping pong ball sitting in there that's hit the floor a couple times and back.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: I don't want to play that.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: I'll just drink the beer.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: I also love catchphrase.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: I don't think I've ever played that one.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Something you could play as an adult or, you know, with the kids.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: One of my favorite catchphrase memories is a big family vacation.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: We were all together, and there may have been people there who were overserved or not overserved.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: One of the funniest things is you had to get people to say the word or the phrase that you need them to say without saying.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: But San Z one was sounds like Pauline.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Sounds like Pauline.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Nothing damn sounds like Pauline.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: She was trying to get us to say emerald glazes.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: What?
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: That doesn't sound like anything.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: It doesn't sound like anything, but that's the word she was trying to get us to say.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: That's hilarious.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Sounds like Paulidine.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: And then it's hysterical because we ended up, you know, God bless her, put getting her tucked in.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: And so she's in the bedroom and we're all still out in a big circle, still playing the game, and she's hard, sauerkraut, sauerkraut, just out of the bedroom.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Just sounds like sauerkraut, is what she was saying.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: We were like, nothing damn sounds like sauerkraut.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: So who's time to tuck her in?
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Stuff like that, you know, sticks out.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Like sometimes when I just see her, I'll holler, sauerkraut.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Especially if we're having a conversation.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure what she's talking about.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: I'll say, sounds like Paula Dean.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: That's like your ear hot pizza.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Ear hot pizza.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: I don't remember what game we were playing, but you got put to bed on that one.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: It was one where we were like tapping the shot glasses and moving them to the left or something.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, they're served, man.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Sometimes that's what happens.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Also, um, as an adult, I love Jenga.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: I know you don't like that.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: That's like that game Mousetrap.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: To me, any game that you have to set back up every time is upsetting.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Well, I love Jenga.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: I have played that all throughout most of my life, and especially as an adult, and that's one that I can even get the kids, you know, when we're all together as a family and stuff, play Jenga.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: We've even gone down to the battery in Atlanta, and they have a big, humongous one that you can play, and it's in a room all by itself.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: It's so much fun.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: And then I bought one that's still in the box someday, somewhere somebody's gonna play that jumbo jenga with me.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: There's one.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Well, there's two at Lake Howard, and there's the regular one, and then there's one that has questions on it.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: There's questions.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, I haven't played that one.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: I don't want to play.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: I just like the strategy of trying to put one out here and there and making it not collapse.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Like my life.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: And we also like to play it where we take the piece instead of just holding on to it, we add keep making the tower grow and grow and grow and grow.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Isn't that what you're supposed to do?
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: That's fun.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: It's just so much fun.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: It's just so much fun.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: What's the fun part to you on that one?
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: The ooh ooh, watching the tower lean and you know, seeing the people like, you know, hollering, one hand, one hand, because you automatically want to do, you know, two hands on so that's fun.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: For me, it's more fun to sit back and watch old women play bridge.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I like to sit in the corner and watch them cuss.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Cuss and run amok.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: I've never played a lot of card games other than like Uno and Face.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: I like face hand, things like that.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: But I don't know what I'm gonna do when I get to a nursing home because I've never played Bridge or Oh, I couldn't learn bridge.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: I tried.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Any of the games like that.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: So or the card games, you know, that you assume a lot of people enjoy.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: They're I I would have to be taught.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a teacher.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And I think some of them make up their own rules.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: And then lately with Dominoes, there is a game, it's called uh Canadian and Mexican Train.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: And with Domino's, that I really enjoy that.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Like that's when Jeff's parents come.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: We want to play that one.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: So that's one I really, really enjoy.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: You don't have to think too much.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: You so then the communication, the camaraderie, the conversation flows more, and you think of stuff you want to talk about.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Those games to me, I like them because everybody's still talking, you know, nobody's like thinking so hard.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Like, shut up, quit talking to me.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like I gotta think, don't talk to me.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: You know, it's one of those if you strike up a conversation, you can take a break and talk about what you're talking about, and then oh, whose turn is it?
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: You know, you get caught up in conversation, you forget whose turn it is, but then you also have something to go back to, so it's like, oh, we're playing a game.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: So that's my thoughts.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: I like Jenga.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: And as an adult, catchphrase, I think we should go back to the next time we have a group of friends.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: I have one here in the house.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: You know, I took care of it.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: So I have a catchphrase, here's still in the house.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: I still have Pictionary in the House, and of course, our latest game that we acquired last Christmas that you bought for Scotty.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, the Ouija board.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: The Ouija board.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Dun dun dun.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: So it's here, isn't it?
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: He didn't take it.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: It's here.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: So you would have probably more Ouija board stories than I would have because when you bought that one, that's really the first time I've ever played or used a Ouija board.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: I don't really have any stories much of me.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: There was one way back when that I don't know.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: I thought we heard something outside of the window.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: I was probably 19 or something.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: It was one of those situations where we're all like, oh, what is that?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: So you're the ones the spirits follow around.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Now, as far as slumber parties, a lot of parents didn't want their kids buying it, so they'd make one.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: You know, where you just make little pieces of paper that have the alphabet on it and you use a glass.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: You put the alphabet in a circle and you use the glass to and make draw yes or no.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: And no, I didn't know that.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Getting thrifty.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: That was a thing.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: What was the game we were playing when Scotty was here, the online one, where we all put our answers in?
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I can't remember.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: I know I can't either.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Scotty.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: It was fun.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: And Josh and Camille were here playing with us.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: It was fun, but I can't remember.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: It was something, it was I know.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I think it's like a percentage thing where the best answer is the one that gets thrown up on the screen.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: I can't remember what it is either.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: What about uh TV games?
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Do you like watching Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy?
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, those things that we grew up.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: I remember, you know, sitting on the floor watching it with my grandparents.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: You know, they would.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, you couldn't miss Wheel of Fortune, you couldn't miss Jeopardy, and you couldn't miss there was another one that they watched.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: It was Wheel of Fortune.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: Price is right.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Price is right.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was in the mornings.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Grandma's show.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: That was in the mornings.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Yes, I had to be quiet.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: I was over there.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Like, shut up.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: Price is right.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: I really don't know what we ever learned from Price is Right, but it was so fun to watch.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: It was so fun to watch.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: I think some of those prices were way off.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: So I know.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Like Coffee Maker,$410.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: No fucking way.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: No.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Not in that.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Not my coffee.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: No.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I think we're out of control.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: So watching those, I think, is more about the nostalgia now.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love Jeopardy.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: You do.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: But then there's times where it's like I should have known that.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: When they reveal the interview should be.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: But I love that.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: I love trivia.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: We play that at work a lot just because I like it so much.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: We like going to live trivia too.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: We enjoy that when we go.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: It's fun.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: I like it when it moves faster, though.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I like what was that other show?
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: There was the millionaire show, which I liked, Regis.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: And then there was one that moves so much faster.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, the weakest link.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: That one was like quick.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: And I like that.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: I don't like that waiting.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: You know, let's play another song while we wait for the answer.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Like, God damn it.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: I know, but when you're playing live with a bunch of people, yeah, that keeps you drinking.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: And a big play.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know it's a scam.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: And we fell for it.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: We have several times.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: But we always have fun.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: Yes, it is fun.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: So win or lose, it's about the game, right?
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: It's like, I don't know.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: I like the rapid fire.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Win or lose, it's about the game.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: About the game.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: No shame.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Are you one of those people who get pissed if you didn't lose like you want to flick the table?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: No, I don't mind losing.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: I just want to keep going.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: If you think of a game that we haven't mentioned or thought of that you absolutely love.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: That we should get drunk and play.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: That we should get drunk and play.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Then please write us and let us know.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: We would love to hear about it.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Did you ever sink anybody's battleship?
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I love battleship.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, that was fun.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: You're an old battleship.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: I've been sunk a time or two.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: I bet.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: We were at one of them ports.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: C3.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Boom.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: There's Stacy.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Boom.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: But seriously, if there's something we'll play.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: I'll try them.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: I would love to.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Love and play.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: What about um I know the big game right now that everybody's doing is pickleball.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: That's too physical.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Is it like ping pong and tennis had a baby?
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Or is it more racquetball and I don't know.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: I I think of it as I know people that say they play it all the time and they're all old.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Well, except for Tyler and Nancy.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: They're going.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, they're doing it?
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: Uh-oh.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: And they sign up different places.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: They do couples.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Is it a smaller court?
- 18:52unknown: I don't know.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: That doesn't sound like a sounds outside.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: I'm sure they find a door pickle.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: We could look it up.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: It's a good way to meet people.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: We can sit on the sidelines and drink beer and watch people play and when they come off being good gang, good game, good game.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: We could be their cheerleaders.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: That's one of those things I I never learned I'm not interested in.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: That's like poker.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: I never learned I'm not interested in.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not good at poker.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: I'm just I mean, you can give me that what's that wheel?
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: That I like that.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, roulette.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Roulette.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: But see, that's a look of chance, too.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: That is a chance one.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: Something about strip poker.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Did you act like you knew how to play?
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know how to play strip poker.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I would just get naked and be like, who wins?
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: I got all red cards.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: The fun time.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: So if you can think of a fun time or a game you played that um just keep you up at night.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: You could play it all night, every day, all day.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: Um, or other fun drinking games we could participate in.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: There's something out there we haven't played yet.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: There's something out there.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: That we will want to play that we haven't played.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: You know what the kids are playing on my side of the family?
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: That cards of humanity is like a big deal.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: And I don't it's okay, but it's not like, oh, let's go play it.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: I don't think I've ever played that.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: There's different versions of it.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe if we got the RuPaul one, I'd be more excited.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: That would be fun.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Also, I know there's kids are still doing Pokemon cards.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: And not just all kids, like the adults who grew up playing Pokemon cards, still collect and play the game Pokemon.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: And there's another one too where it's magic.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Magic.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: Tyler grew up uh collecting magic cards and playing magic.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: There was a magic tournament he would participate to this day.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: I need to find me a Dungeons and Dragons playing nerd.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Right up there.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Somebody know where they play Dungeons and Dragons around here, around the Atlanta area, the north side of Atlanta.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Kid somebody please hook us up.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: It's 1-800 Brenda.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Well, how about BS Studios at myyahoo.com.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: We'll do that one.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: That's a that's a way to find me.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm the only one checking that email.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you do a great job.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: Like twice a week.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: We'd love to hear from you.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: If you have something to say, there's other places that you can uh reach out to us.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Um we love to hear from you.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: Uh Scotty recently did a TikTok challenge.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: You can find us on TikTok and watch that video.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but it happened and I participated in that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Um, it's also on our Facebook YouTube shorts and all that kind of stuff.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: So watch me do a some kind of viral challenge.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: I did it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: And we had a good time with Scotty while he was here visiting.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Speaking of Scotty, oh my gosh, he has um he's ex you know doing his other things that he was gonna do on vacation for the weekend, but um it was a fun time seeing him.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: So love you, Scotty.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: Uh I got to see Tyler Nancy while he was here and Cam Cam.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: I got to see everybody in the family, so it made me really, really happy.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: You know, that family, that family time is the best when you get this age, I think.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: So I know because it's fewer far between.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: I think for some reason, they have their own lives.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Here we are.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: I don't understand.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: I don't either.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: But here we are, and we're doing it.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: We're letting them do their things.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: They like to tell you they're grown ass people.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: And uh do their own thing anyway.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: So let's do that and uh go ahead and wrap it up.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Let's wine with Brenda and Stacey.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Bye.
