- DadBodSportsCards: All right, welcome to the Nabod Sports Cards podcast. We are starting a new series called the NFC North Unfiltered. so this is something we're gonna try out. We're gonna try to get a rep for each NFC North team. We couldn't get any Packers fans this week because they were all too busy crying. Minnesota, we don't really have a lot of Minnesota friends, anyways, because it's fucking Minnesota. And then, but we got Flinttown and Arcek here as our Lions reps, and they got myself and we got Dom, the good the famous Dom from the National. Keck: So DadBodSportsCards: At the at the re at the restaurant and then picking Zach Moss in his interview and everything. Yes. And we got Dom here who's also a Bears fan, unfortunately a White Sox fan as well. Yes. I mean well, that Keck: Flint represents the Flinttown sports cards. It's all he ever wears. Fucking loser! DadBodSportsCards: that and a Jackson Dart jersey. So those those are the two things that he wears. Keck: yeah, FlintTown: Hey, balled out. Keck: 40 black Flinttown shirts in a Jackson Dirt Jersey. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. All right. So we will start off. So I mean, on well, you guys can't see the names, but that we call him Arcek. I don't know if you want to use your real name. I always we always call Dom Dom and Flint is Flint. I don't call I don't call Flint. It would be weird to call Flint by his real name. It'd just be weird. So Keck: Yes, Tyler. DadBodSportsCards: yeah, exactly. It's just it's just we it's like that it's like, hey Tyler. Like like I like Flint better. Keck: I could never call you Gary ever. DadBodSportsCards: No, no, I don't even call myself Gary. Nah, never. Like. FlintTown: myself Gary Keck: I wouldn't either. DadBodSportsCards: I I don't, I don't. Well, 'cause my mom 'cause I'm a junior, so my mom calls me J R. And then so I didn't it wasn't until high school when people started calling me Gary. And then that was a little weird. And then because I was in the army, like I'd just go by Davis pretty much and everything. Or or or Rice Boy or Soy Sauce, you know, all those other names too. Keck: Kim Jong Un. DadBodSportsCards: Yes. Dom: Right. DadBodSportsCards: I get you I get called that all the fucking time. People have taken pictures with me because they want they think I'm a look alike to Kim Jong un. Hopefully this yeah, Keck: fucking North Korea leader, baby. DadBodSportsCards: hopefully the CIA reaches out to me and then when they Keck: You DadBodSportsCards: whack Kim Jong un out FlintTown: The double. DadBodSportsCards: yeah, I will be in there as a double riding the trains, doing my little waves. Well, he so the thing with Kim Jong un is he likes to point at things. So I I would be Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: pointing at things all the time. All right, but let's let's get started. We want to try to keep these episodes like under 30 minutes. That was just kind of like a quick recap of the NFC North teams of over the weekend. So the first game that we will start with that all of us will probably talk shit about because we all hate the Packers, is the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers, where the Vikings won the game 39 to 22 after an epic meltdown that was expected from Jordan Love and that shitty Packers team. So I will give the floor to you guys. Like if if Flint, if you want to start, or Arkek or Dom, if you guys want to start about this game. but again, the Quick recap of the game is Vikings won thirty-nine to twenty-two, scoring twenty-two points in that fourth quarter. And I only watched a little bit of the game. Did you guys watch the game at all? FlintTown: I watched highlights. Kyler Murray's Keck: I want to highlight. FlintTown: first ever throw as a Viking was a interception. That's DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Keck: That's not a good sign. That's not good. FlintTown: not gonna gonna be good. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Keck: He couldn't see over the line. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. FlintTown: That's true. But it's unfortunate he got hurt like what, Keck: Yeah, you know why I to get hurt. FlintTown: five minutes into the game? Dom: Yeah, that was a part of it. FlintTown: But Justin Jefferson balled out. DadBodSportsCards: It did. Keck: Carson Wentz bowled out. I mean, for FlintTown: Yeah. He did. Keck: real, like, there's a reason they got him and put him in instead of J.J. McCarthy. FlintTown: You're absolutely right. Keck: I I suck, I love JJ, but I don't know. Carson looked good. DadBodSportsCards: What about what about you Dom: Yeah. FlintTown: Carson did. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah, what about you, Dom? Dom: I'll I'll say what what really stuck out to me was Minnesota's defense, the blitzing, love was on his butt the entire second half. I I was actually genuinely impressed that he kept getting up. he took an absolute beating in that game. DadBodSportsCards: As as he does every night too, as well. We we will we will never say that we are impressed with anything that Jordan Love does, because that guy is fucking trash. Keck: We will never. DadBodSportsCards: He's been in the league for nine years now, ten years now, never won the NFC North. FlintTown: Has it been that long? DadBodSportsCards: No, it ha no, it hasn't. I think it's only like six. It's like six or seven. Keck: No, I'ma say. Dom: Seven years. I think seven. FlintTown: Still DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Keck: Six, seven. DadBodSportsCards: I think it's his I think it's his fourth I think it's his fourth year starting. But he still has never won the division at all and everything. but I enjoyed I watched the the last part I actually watched the fourth quarter of that game because by that time well they were the later game too, but I was watching other games, you know, s I was thinking Green Bay was gonna win. Like I picked Minnesota, so when I saw the game on and how dominant for the first three quarters the Green Bay Packers were, I was like, Keck: Right. DadBodSportsCards: this game is probably over. I'm gonna lose money on this game because I had because the Packers were underdogs in this game coming in the game. So Minnesota was the favorite, which I was surprised about, but I guess. Like the betters in Vegas, they understand that the best player on offense and defense for the Packers is out. Josh Jacobs is out for pulling Ray Rice two point Keck: He may be out for the season. DadBodSportsCards: He yeah, he maybe out. I mean they they sealed that video, so it could be really bad. That video. the judge sealed it. FlintTown: They got the video? DadBodSportsCards: There, yeah, it's like I think it's in the Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: the incident happened in the garage, and I think there's like a video in the garage. But Keck: Kinda like Diddy. DadBodSportsCards: yeah, yeah. Just just just without just without the baby oil. Yeah. FlintTown: Baby oil. Keck: Right. Flynn's got all the baby oil. DadBodSportsCards: Bay Flint's got all the baby oil. but but yeah, like they the Keck: Mmm. My god, it's on hand. DadBodSportsCards: it was a it was a third stray it was a third meltdown. Yeah, he it was on hand 'cause it is on hand 'cause I FlintTown: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: mean he's always lubed up, trust me. Like Jesus Christ. That thing's fucking awful. Keck: Or it's on feet. Ha! FlintTown: It's on feet. DadBodSportsCards: Thing is fucking Dom: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: awful. Keck: my god. DadBodSportsCards: But back to the game, like So Minnesota just came out and they just blitzed and Green Bay couldn't do anything. their O line couldn't keep up with anything. And I mean, it's just another meltdown in the fourth quarter. They did it twice against the Bears last year. They did it. I mean, they had all offseason to think about them losing their lead to the Bears in the playoffs. And then they go back and do the same thing. That's six straight losses for the Green Bay Packers, which I'm fucking enjoying. Keck: That's crazy. DadBodSportsCards: And then I saw a stat before coming on tonight that. Since 1990, this is the first time the the Packers have lost six games in a row. That's a pr that's like 30 36 years. Like what Favre Aaron Rodgers? Well, that was before. That was before that was pro Keck: That's Brett Favre ears. Well, Favre was 91, right? DadBodSportsCards: I think so. So it's like before Brett Favre. Keck: Yeah, right before five and five rookie year, because rookie year he was a falcon. So yeah. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah, yeah. So that's this is their first ever six game losing streak. I as a Bears fan, we probably had plenty during that time in the past three years. Lions, I mean Lions fans were 0-16. Yeah. So so Keck: we were Owen's team. DadBodSportsCards: like for for our teams, like, I mean, I won't say that's impressive because I won't ever say anything Green Bay is impressive, but I mean that that's that's a long streak to go on without losing six games in a row. Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: but it was good to see. Maybe, maybe the the Packers move on next week. They play the Jets. Maybe they'll get a win. I mean, they should be favored in that game, but Keck: The gesture's one, DadBodSportsCards: the Jets did just win. So it's it's not a lock. So I mean we'll we'll see how how the how the Packers play it. Like they just can't s Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: finish games any like right now. They need Micah Parsons back in like the worst way possible. Keck: Yeah. FlintTown: Watson, I noticed Watson was really good. He is their number one. Keck: He played lot better than he has. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Yeah. yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he has but can but but can he stay healthy? Like he misses Keck: He played a lot better than has the last couple of years. He was hyped real big. Yeah. FlintTown: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: like he missed like four or five games every year. So that's FlintTown: Exactly. Yep. DadBodSportsCards: that's that's the big thing with him. And he had a great game and they still lost by seventeen points, which you know he did step up and I mean Jordan Love I think had a decent game, stat wise, but if you look at his stats real quick, He went twenty one of forty two, so we went fifty percent completion percentage. And that's not that good. But he had but FlintTown: That's not that good. Keck: No, it's not! DadBodSportsCards: he had three hundred and eighty-seven yards. But I mean, I think I think a lot of that was probably a lot of bad throws in the fourth quarter because he just had to get rid of the ball because they were blitzing everybody. Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: But that's pretty much all I have to say about the Vikings, the Packers game. I mean, fuck Green Bay, that's that's the mantra. Green Bay sucks. GNG, if you're listening, Green Bay sucks is a lifestyle. Carolina fans weren't yelling Green Bay sucks. That was Bears fans in Carolina. Which because the Bears fans, yeah, yeah. Keck: Just yelling Green Bay sucks. DadBodSportsCards: The Bears fans travel well and you could hear it on the TV. Yeah. 132 Keck: They wanna, yeah, they wanna get some sunshine, you know? DadBodSportsCards: degrees on that turf at one point. 132. Yeah. Yeah. And that w Keck: Are you serious? My God. DadBodSportsCards: and that wasn't even the hottest thing on the fucking turf, because the hottest thing was obviously Caleb, right? So Dom: Yeah. FlintTown: My gas. DadBodSportsCards: We'll we'll get we'll get to that. I was saving that for later, but you you set me up for it, so so I used it now. All right. So next game, another disappointing game, I think. But Aaron, and if you listen to our other podcast, Aaron did predict that, hey, this could be an upset alert. He did say the Saints, like FlintTown: He did. DadBodSportsCards: a lot, a lot of people, especially in my whatnot show last night, a lot of people are like believers of the Saints, and I don't see it. I think they're still a year or two away. Some people in the Dom hates this, but some people in the chat were saying that, you know, the Saints are the best team in the division. I'm I I'm not gonna go that far. I mean, because Carolina did win the division, and then you still got the Bucs. And I mean, Atlanta's gonna be awful until they figure out the quarterback situation. But Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: the next game we will talk about, and I'm gonna after I say what the game is and the score is, I'm gonna leave it to the Lions fans to talk about this game, is the Detroit Lions squeaking it out. In overtime, 31 to 30 over the Saints. So I'll let you guys have the floor on this one. Keck: Yeah, dude, not the way you want to end the game, but it is what it is. It just sucks that we just looked at our defense was terrible. The last after second, third quarter bad. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah, and j yeah, and just for the record, like early in the text, Dom not Dom, Flint was saying, like, man, our defense is they're they're fucking awesome right now. Like their lights out. And as soon Keck: Clinton thinks everybody's awesome. DadBodSportsCards: as he said that, as soon as he said that, like everything started shifting. Keck: Hasn't Flint said J-mo's gonna have a year FlintTown: What Keck: for like step, step of six years now? DadBodSportsCards: Right. FlintTown: Foot in the mouth. Insert foot in mouth. That's what I should have put. Keck: JMo dropped a couple dude, that was not- that's not good. FlintTown: Yeah, I know. I'm not worried about that. First game, you're you're gonna have bugs, right? We all know it. Keck: Now there's nobody around you. It's terrible. FlintTown: Yeah, but hey, I'm not I'm not really worried about J Mo dropping the pass. It was two catches. Keck: I I'm a little worried. FlintTown: It was two ones that he dropped. DadBodSportsCards: So after Keck: Yes. DadBodSportsCards: after that Lions and Saints game, like and we'll we'll ask Arcak first, what what like what bothers you about the Lions this year? Like Flint their defense, okay. Like s Keck: Your defense. Defensive backs. DadBodSportsCards: so nothing wrong with your offense? You don't think your offen you think your offense will be fine? Okay. Keck: yeah, I think we'll be full. I think the Saints have a better defense than what everybody thought. They're pretty, I mean... Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: Okay. I mean they got they got Chase Young. Chase Young's a good pass rusher. I don't know who their other pass rusher is. Keck: I'm not sure about it. I mean, they got, mean, the Cool FlintTown: Jordan. Keck: Aids are right. I mean, he's not like no... Cam Jordan stills playing. What is he, 86 years old? Holy shit! DadBodSportsCards: is it Cam Jordan? Cam Jordan? Okay. Okay. I mean they got FlintTown: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for real. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. But I th I think he FlintTown: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: got I think he got double digit sacks last year, so or close to it, Cam Jordan. Yeah. FlintTown: Yeah. Keck: yeah, he's still good, but it's like, man, how do you play that long as a defensive end and DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Keck: like still be that good? DadBodSportsCards: So Flint, is is is it your concern is gonna be the defense as well? FlintTown: I would say yeah, defensive backs and until we get like Kirby and Branch back, that will kinda help. Keck: Well, it's gonna help if Kirby doesn't ever play again, who knows? FlintTown: I don't know if Kirby's ever coming back, to be honest. I know Keck: Brains should be back work. FlintTown: Rakestraw will be back next or this next week, which that will help. I think what Huh. Stop. Keck: It's gonna scare your kid. It's gonna scare your kid. FlintTown: Stop. I think to be honest. I think they got gassed in the second quarter. DadBodSportsCards: you're gonna get gassed in the first game of the season. Keck: Second quarter? DadBodSportsCards: And you're playing in a fucking dough. Keck: It was halftime until we couldn't do anything. DadBodSportsCards: Well you guys were up twenty one and nothing, right? Okay. Twenty one nothing. FlintTown: Yeah, we were up twenty to one to nothing, and then the third quarter it started going downhill. DadBodSportsCards: I I know you guys fucking hate hearing this from me because I'm gonna what happen Keck: I hate hearing anything from you. DadBodSportsCards: Especially during football season. That's that's fair. Especially during football season, that's fair. And I just point at you I'm Kim Jong-un. So but it's it's the Ben Johnson effect. Like it and the reason why the reason why FlintTown: Has nothing to do with Ben Johnson. DadBodSportsCards: I say that is because that motherfucker doesn't let his foot off the pedal. Exactly. Keck: I'm sure we thought we were gonna win it for sure. DadBodSportsCards: Like they kinda they kinda like let loose a little bit. Ben Johnson doesn't let loose. Keck: I mean, way Gibbs was playing was, all right, we have no problem. I FlintTown: Yeah. Keck: mean, and St. Brown had fucking hell of a game too. DadBodSportsCards: Well, Gibbs, so Gibbs had 29 carries. So you guys were giving him the rock during the whole game and everything. Like FlintTown: A lot. DadBodSportsCards: Goth Goff ended up throwing for 39, but I think those were probably like later, you know, like when the Saints started coming back and everything. Because you guys were relying heavily on Gibbs. do you think you guys might miss a number two? Like, do you think you miss Montgomery? Because then you'll be able to control you'll be able to control the ball more. Yeah. Keck: yeah, for sure. think so. Until at least we get Pacheco back. What's FlintTown: Yeah. Yeah. Keck: Pacheco? Dom: Yeah, just a little bit. I d I didn't watch it. I didn't watch it, but I saw highlights and obviously the text Keck: Thank Dom: chain that we had going. But I think offensively would they're they're gonna pick up steam. It's it's a new system. It's just like what we had to deal with last year, where you gotta start somewhere and then you're just gonna constantly build and as you get more comfortable. So that offense is still gonna be insane, I'm sure. defensively we'll see. I mean I Outside of Minnesota and I don't think anybody's got a good defense in the division, so it's just gonna be putting up points is what the the whole division's gonna be. Keck: Yeah, I can agree with that. I think Detroit's D-line's pretty decent. Their linebackers are okay, but our defensive backs are what's gonna kill us, I think. DadBodSportsCards: Yeah, so how did how did Derek Moore do? Like 'cause he's your rookie for Michigan. Did he play well? Keck: I'm not sure what he had. know Hutch had a couple sacks, right? DadBodSportsCards: Okay. FlintTown: Yeah, Hutch had a couple sacks. Derek Moore I don't think he was Keck: And then I don't, I'm not sure. FlintTown: in the game that much. Yeah. But I think I think the biggest thing that you Keck: Is a miss Ben Johnson DadBodSportsCards: well yeah, I wasn't gonna say it. I wasn't gonna say it, but the tea le the tea leaves are gonna be there is I think your I think your main concern this year is gonna be golf. So he can't stay he can't he has to be a pocket pro passer. If your offensive line isn't protecting him, Gibbs, you can't I don't think Gibbs is the type of running back where you can give him the ball 30, 30 times a game. I I don't. Like you gotta have somebody else back there with him to limit him. Gibbs is I mean, Gibbs Gibbs is by far probably the best running Keck: Well, I mean, he needs rest for running 50 yards at a time. DadBodSportsCards: back. What yeah, well exactly. But like I think eventually like it's a long season. Like Gibbs is Keck: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: gonna get banged up. Like that's the one guy on your offense that you need to be there the whole season. And I think I think he's done pretty Keck: I DadBodSportsCards: well in his career. He doesn't miss a lot of games, which is why which is why the Lions have success, right? along with other factors with their offense. FlintTown: Yeah, he doesn't. Keck: Yeah. I think last year if we would have lost him with just demo back there, it would have been okay, but not great. But this year if we lose him, it's. Unless Pacheco can do something because Pacheco shown what he could do. mean, in Kansas City, he wasn't bad. He got DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Keck: hurt a few times, but I get I don't know. I think Pacheco was a good runner. I just. DadBodSportsCards: Well, Pacheco Pacheco is a black scattaboo. Like the dude, I mean he's he's just he's yeah, he just he doesn't look to juke. FlintTown: He is. He is. Dom: Mm-hmm. Keck: He does truck. He just wants to hit that truck stick on Madden. Boom, boom, boom! DadBodSportsCards: He's not juking, he's running you over. FlintTown: Yeah. DadBodSportsCards: And that's why Pacheco's been h hurt a lot in his career is because like he doesn't avoid contact. Like, I mean, he'll try to juke you, but like most of the time, like that dude's just gonna try to run right through you. and Pacheco doesn't have the speed like Gibbs is where it's Gibbs could just get to the outside and then he's gonna out fucking run you. Yeah. Gibbs is a beast. Yeah. No, it it it is. Keck: It gives us and like I know my life fan, but just watching him run is fucking amazing How fast and how quick he can move this way to this way then just be gone. It's DadBodSportsCards: Yeah. Keck: it's an it's unreal DadBodSportsCards: I th I think FlintTown: It can't DadBodSportsCards: I think what these two first games of like the Packers and the Lions in week one as a carryover from last year. Like the Lions still look like a fourth place team after playing the Saints. Like you guys are lucky that the Saints missed a sixty two yard field goal. A s a sixty two yard field goal. FlintTown: A fourth a fourth place team. Keck: You even got down to laugh, look. DadBodSportsCards: I s you laugh, but you were fourth place last year, correct? Correct. All right. So it's not like I'm just making that shit up. That's what the standings were. And you had a healthy offense. You had Amonra, you had Goff, you had Gibbs, you had Monty, you had J Mo, and you're still fourth place. So I'm not saying, hey, you got fourth place because Ben Johnson left. I'm saying you guys got fourth place. Your offensive players were still there and you're still fourth place. So FlintTown: We had no defense. DadBodSportsCards: no defense, but you didn't have you didn't have a defense. Even with Ben Johnson either, and guys were FlintTown: Yeah, we did. DadBodSportsCards: Come on. Come on. FlintTown: We had Kirby and Yeah. Keck: Kirby and Brant's were both healthy those couple years. Yeah, it was way better. DadBodSportsCards: Nobody outs nobody outside of Detroit knows who those fuckers are. Nobody. Nobody. FlintTown: Brian Branch and Kirby Joseph was on the Pro Bowl. DadBodSportsCards: Okay, so does Shador Sanders was a pro bowler. Mitch Mitch Mitch Mitch Therbisky was a pro bowler. So Pro Bowl doesn't mean shit. Yes, Dom: I was just gonna say that. Keck: They don't count. FlintTown: No No Hey First Keck: No he was not. DadBodSportsCards: yes he was. So Pro Dom: Yes he was. DadBodSportsCards: Bowl doesn't mean shit anymore. Keck: Well then fine, I'm gonna find some Mitch Trubisky cards, you guys better buy them. DadBodSportsCards: No, no. No. FlintTown: Yeah. Keck: I got some. I know I do. DadBodSportsCards: No, but like the Packers still suck. That's six games in a row that they lost. And the Lions, they had every opportunity to prove, like, hey, we're back. We're gonna be competing for this division. They it took a missed field goal by the Saints, 62 yards, which no one's expecting that kicker to hit a 62 yarder. And then you had the opportunity stop. Tyler Shuck from Shucking the ball in overtime after you guys scoring. And then he drove the team down the field, got a touchdown. And if it wasn't just, I mean, it was a bad play call, your defense showed up on that play in that bunch right formation and and clogged that shit up where Shuck had nowhere to throw. Like your defense played it perfectly on that play when the game counted, right? But like, but it took all that. You're still a fourth place team. You're still a fourth place Keck: Yeah, I I get it. DadBodSportsCards: team. Yeah. Keck: I get it, but fourth place. DadBodSportsCards: Who you guys and and thank God you guys, your extra second, and then this non fumble, incomplete forward pass that went backwards, right?
