TLDR: The Government announced the beginning of its Gabrielle emergency response last night, pledging an initial $300 million to help repair roads, bridges, communications and to bolster small businesses.But PM Chris Hipkins’ new Cabinet has yet to address its restated ambition of ‘building back better’ and more resiliently, which the Opposition has also pledged to do.
